By springtime, the Winchester family was back at the cabin in the woods. Bobby and Cayden and Alfie and Sheamus traveled to the compound to wait out the last month of the pregnancies. Sam and Dean's babies were a year old now and beyond crawling, they toddled confidently with their chubby little legs.
Nicholas' blonde hair was turning golden brown, it fell in waves about his shoulders and even though Dean wanted to give the baby his first haircut, Sam protested strongly so for now, his pretty hair was safe. Emma's was the same color but stuck up all over her head like chick feathers, Dean called it her punk rock phase.
Her first word was "mama" because she sensed Dean would like that. It was as good as any other word and it was worth seeing her beautiful mother's pretty, green eyes light up and flash his teeth. That word was followed up with "daddy" and she was rewarded with Sam's sweet smile. After that she picked up words quickly for only a year old and was very expressive.
Sam and Dean worried about Nick because he still hadn't uttered a single intelligible word though his face, actions and baby babble conveyed his feelings quite well. It wasn't until mid August when he spoke his first word very clearly. He'd escaped again, the kid was fast, too fast sometimes. He never got far though before one of his parents caught him.
This time he made it all the way to the massive, circular juniper bush and when he came out with pockets full of berries and a dimpled smile on his face he was followed by a scraggly black and white tuxedo cat. He pointed to the skinny feline and said, "kitty". Dean never wanted a cat or any pet for that matter but be damned if he was going to turn away the animal that made their son speak for the first time. The young cat let out a pitiful mewling sound and Nick crouched and patted him a little too firmly on the head but the cat didn't seem to care.
After the cat ate his fill of meat scraps, Dean showed his bravery by gave the cat a bath outside, a good one with lots of soap and scrubbing until all the fleas abandoned ship. After, the hunter brushed its short coat. The cat was skin and bones and had some battle scars but the brothers were used to helping lost causes, Dean could empathize since John let him know he was a lost cause as often as possible.
That night while putting the babies to bed, Sam asked Nick what he was going to name the cat, hoping for another word from his silent son. He looked to his sister and they both babbled back and forth then Nick turned to his daddy and said, "Bobby" though it sounded like "BobBEE" with emphasis on the "bee" sound.
Nick's parents got the happy looks on their faces and the tall one who was Daddy even laughed. Mommy said he could not wait to introduce Bobby to Bobby the 2nd.

The woman wore tight, shiny black pants, stripper heels and a very out of place blazer. Her luscious lips and long nails were painted the colors of oxidized blood and if it weren't for him being all tied up and scared shitless, Edger would have hit on her. He knew he would have failed but someone that hot deserved the risk and ultimate blow to the ego.
He wasn't sure how he got there, he just remembered sitting on a stool at the now defunct Casey's Bar, drinking flat beer with the handful of guys who didn't die that day of the fire. They banded together, safety in numbers and all that. All he remembered was something came crashing through a window and noxious smoke filled the bar, after that it was lights out. He woke up in familiar surroundings, it was the old man's office back at the mansion but instead of the old man, this wicked looking red head was sitting on his desk, legs crossed. Next to him and tied up as well was one of the other guys who looked as scared as Edgar felt.
She cocked her head and stared at them a minute but it felt like forever.
"I have spoken to your cohorts to find out what happened here, how the fire started, how the test subjects died and who dropped the ball. Unfortunately, they were not much help to me. People are disposable, remember that when I ask you questions."
Edgar growled, "Who the fuck are you, lady."
I've taken over for my grandfather. I run this place, Landon Pharmaceuticals, Ro Corp and our subsidiaries." She waved her hand in the air, "This whole supernatural virus thing has been a real pain in my ass."
Edgar, not feeling so brave anymore, stammered, "W-what do you want?"
She clapped her hands and her grin was reminiscent of the Joker, "It's movie time!"
On the big screen they watched video clips salvaged from the day of the mansion fire. An image of Sam Winchester running down a basement corridor clad in scrubs flashed on the screen.
Abaddon pointed to the men, "Do you recognize anyone in the clips?"
Edgars former fellow employee told her no. He was promptly dragged away on the chair he was tied to. A few minutes later Edgar heard a gunshot.
The woman asked again if Edgar recognized anyone.
"I recognize the tall skinny kid. I-I remember his name was Sam." Edgar looked down at his crotch, thinking back to how the kid bite his dick and left a scar. It also hadn't worked right since. He looked up at Abaddon, his features twisted in anger, "You wanna find him? I'll help you find him." He glared back at the screen where an image of Dean Winchester was frozen. "I'll help you find that one too."

Dean had the smoke house going with racks of fish inside, filling the air with mouthwatering goodness. He'd become pretty good at the whole process and fish were plentiful year round. Sam was on a ladder cleaning the gutters and the babies busied themselves with their dollies and blocks while Bobby the 2nd sat in a wagon watching them. Dean took pleasure in just observing his kids do their thing no matter what it was. He'd dressed them in rompers today, Em's had ladybugs and Nick's had sailboats.
"Our kids are so friggin' cute…pretty sure cuter and smarter than any kid out there…" A cardinal suddenly landed on Nick's shoulder then flew off, "Doctor Dolittle over there…animals love you, Nicky, even the wild ones…"
There came the sound of something huge crashing through the underbrush and a moment later a juvenile brown bear appeared at the edge of the woods. Attracted by the smell of smoked fish, the massive mammal trailed his nose through the air.
Sam yelled, "Dean get the kids in the house!" It all happened so quick, one minute he was on the ladder and the next flat on his back with the wind knocked out of him. Dean rushed to children, scooping them up in each arm. Emma burst out in tears when she saw her daddy lying on the gravel, dazed. Dean ran toward the cabin to get them to safely and that was when Nick's body went stiff.
The baby pointed at the approaching bear and yelled, "No, naughty teddy! Go away!" The bear stopped his approach, shook his huge head back and forth violently then hightailed it back into the forest.
….
Dean could hear his brother moaning in pain all the way in the kitchen. He felt pretty useless, this wasn't a bullet to dig out or a wound to stitch up, Sam had really hurt his back. It wasn't like Dean could just drive him to a local hospital and get x rays and this wasn't a "just walk it off" situation. Sam was no crybaby so for him to be stomach down on the bed meant it was bad.
The omega carried a mug of chicken soup to the bedroom and set it on the nightstand, "How yah doin' Sammy?"
Sam turned his sweaty face on the pillow to look at his worried lover, "Not great. I'll sleep it off."
"Sure, sure you will, sweetheart." "If you're not better by tomorrow, I'm loading your big ass in the car and getting you to a doctor…any doctor…I'll find one…"
The twins toddled in. Nick got on all fours and Emma climbed atop his back so she could crawl up next to her daddy. She got on her haunches and began patting with both tiny hands up and down Sam's spine in a rhythmic fashion.
"Uh, whatcha doin' there, ladybug?"
"Fixing Daddy."
Dean rocked Nick for almost an hour while they watched Emma repeatedly pat, rub, and kiss Sam's bruised back. Part way through her restorative touches, Sam quieted down. his body stopped twitching and the alpha fell asleep.
The baby instinctually knew what needed to be done though this was her first time doing it. Emma was much too young to do such a thing and the session drained her mentally and physically.
She had a voracious appetite afterward, polishing off all her noodles and applesauce and even stealing from her brother's plate. She fell asleep in the high chair right after the meal.
…
Dean couldn't fall asleep; he kept thinking about everything that had happened.
"Nick's got built in bear repellent and wild birds just land on him for no reason….Emma can heal, at least I think she can…don't like the way it affects her though…yup, just normal stuff kids do…"
Bobby the 2nd jumped on Dean's chest, his green eyes locking with the humans equally green peepers. The cat's purring eventually put the worried human to sleep.
