Club 23 - Chapter XXVII - The Preparation Ends
After what happened Sunday with Esmeralda, Phoebus had been anxiously waiting when Esmeralda was going to text him so they could talk. He kept checking his phone constantly, even in class…which is something he never does…NEVER!, he wasn't caught, but he is still waiting and waiting for something but gets nothing…for now. Meanwhile, it's lunchtime as he approaches the usual lunch table with their friends, somebody yells out something
"I WANNA KNOW WHAT LOVE IS", the person shouts and Phoebus knows exactly who this person is
"Flynn…what's the point of this," said Phoebus
"I'm trying an experiment"
"What experiment?"
"Well we all know that the Formal is this Friday and we got approval to perform, by the way, you've been practicing, right?" Flynn asked with a raised eyebrow
"Yeah, when I'm doing homework"
"Cool, anyway, I'm trying to see which songs are going to work and which are not, so I devised something whereas I shout out song lyrics and someone shouts some lyrics back" Flynn explaining his plan in detail
"And, how's that going?"
"So far, not well, but more people are walking in and out, let's see," Flynn says, "I WANNA KNOW WHAT LOVE IS" he then shouts and scouts the area, so far, still no success until somebody says, "I WANT YOU TO SHOW ME"
"YES!, it worked…thanks Ariel"
"No problem Flynn" she responded with Eric looking on
"Sup Eric"
"Sup Flynn", he responds back
"Hey growin' a stache, nice," said Flynn
"Thanks," said Eric as he and Ariel walked off Phoebus now chimes in
"Well it worked, try it again"
"Gladly, IT"S THE EYE OF THE TIGER…" Flynn waits for a response
"IT'S THE THRILL OF THE FIGHT / RISING UP TO THE CHALLENGE OF OUR RIVAL" shouts Mulan and Shang
"Woo!, yes gotta another one, thank you too"
"No problem", says Mulan laughing it off
"Anytime, love that song," says Shang as the two of them walk off
"Look at Phoebs, let's see if I can go for three in a row"
"Good luck",
"Okay here we go", and Flynn goes for a final time, "TELL ME WHY…"
Phoebus decides to help him
"Ain't nothin' but a heartache"
"TELL ME WHY…"
"Ain't nothin' but a mistake"
"TELL ME WHY…"
"I never wanna hear you say…"
"I WANT IT THAT WAY" came in Belle finishing off the lyrics after hearing the two boys
"Hey Belle", said Flynn and Phoebus
"Hey you two, I overheard you all singing, so I had to chime in, good luck with the performance on Friday," she said
"Wait, you know about me, Phoebs, Ali, Esme, Quasi's performance? said Flynn confused
"Did you forget that I'm part of the Formal Committee?", Belle reminded him
"Oh…right, forgot about that, well thanks anyway," said Flynn
"You're very welcome, see you two soon," she said as she walked off, Phoebus told his friend something strange
"Hey Flynn, have you noticed something strange?"
"Strange, being what?" Flynn said
"Ali, Quasi, Poca, Meg…Esme…they aren't here"
"Hmm, your right, I don't even think I saw Esmeralda here at all today"
Phoebus is his mind is thinking about Esmeralda, could this be about their conversation, no it couldn't be that's dumb, she's probably doing more things for Formal, like shopping for shoes
"You know what…I'm gonna look for them", said Phoebus, "You're open to joining if you want to" he told Flynn
"Nah, I'm good, I'm gonna text Rapunzel that I'm coming her way so we can eat lunch together," Flynn said declining
"Okay, fine by me, time to go on my adventure", said Phoebus and he was on his way traveling the hallways like it was some adventure video game he was the main protagonist in, as he was searching for his friends, he finally stumbled on a familiar face in the hallway, it was Aladdin
"Hey Ali", Phoebus greeting him
"Hey Phoebus, what's up"
"Nothing much, just strange that you aren't at the tables"
"Oh yeah, sorry I didn't tell you, but I'm spending the whole day with Jasmine, and possibly the whole week since this Friday it's the first time I'm going to her house so we can meet for the formal"
"Oh really, no worries man, just do what you have to do" Phoebus smiled, "That's great you honestly"
"Thanks, really appreciate it"
"No problem", said Phoebus, "By the way though, have you seen Esmeralda?"
"Esme, nope sorry to tell you I haven't seen her, did she even show up today?"
"I wondering the same thing", Phoebus says as a girl approaches the corner, "Must be Jazz, anyway, thanks for the help, see ya"
"See ya"
"Hey Jasmine," Phoebus says
"Hey Phoebus", she responds as she meets with Aladdin. Phoebus is on his way to find more of his friends, he talks to himself
"Okay that was strike one, need somebody else, I know, I person that Esmeralda likes talking to" and he was on the hunt to find Quasimodo, he searched through more hallways and found him
"Quasi!" Phoebus shouts
"Hey Phoebus, what do you need?", Quasimodo asks
"Nothing really, but why weren't you at the tables?"
"Oh, I was Madelliane, I was showing her a picture of my completed carving of Disney Castle"
"Let me see," says Phoebus tries to take a peek at Quasimodo's phone, but he hides it
"Hey, she's my Formal date and gets priority access, alright" said Quasimodo
"Okay, fair enough," Phoebus said laughing, "Hey, have you seen Esmeralda anywhere?" he said switching gears
"Um, no I haven't she would have told me if she wasn't coming," said Quasimodo
"Cool, thanks", said Phoebus
"Sorry"
"It's fine, enjoy your time with Madelliane"
"Thanks," said Quasimodo as Phoebus walked off talking to himself
"Strike two, hopefully, I don't get to three and four while talking to Poca and Meg", he says as he looks for the two of them, hoping they have answers he searches for them and searches until he finds them near the entrance
"There you two are," Phoebus says
"Jeez, what's up with you?" Meg questions
"Well, I've been trying to find you all as a damn video game character looks for characters they have to interact with," he says sort of exhausted
"Well don't tire yourself more, take a seat," says Pocahontas as Phoebus listens to her, "So, what's up?" she continues
"First off, why weren't you two at our normal table?", he asks
"Important business", said Megara
"How important?", Phoebus raises an eyebrow
"Very. Important" she replies matching his energy
"Fair enough, secondly, have any of you seen Esmeralda?"
"No, I thought she was coming today because we were talking more about whether we should go back to the mall or not", said Pocahontas
"Same here", said Megara looking at Phoebus's defeated expression
"And by the looks of it, you've talked with Flynn, Aladdin, and Quasimodo, huh?" she continued
Phoebus sighed, and said "Yep"
"No success?"
"Yep"
"I'm sorry to hear that", said Pocahontas, "Hope you hear from her soon"
"Same, man", said Megara who put her hand on his shoulder
"Thanks for talking to me at least"
"Sure", said Megara
"Any time", said Pocahontas and Phoebus walked outside, sat on the benches and got some fresh air, and tried to get his mind off her, but he couldn't, he wanted to talk to her, he needed to talk to her. He went on his phone because he was bored and then…boom…he got this
"Vista Lake, the dock"
And he was on his way there, he jumped, got to his car and he drove as fast and as legally as he could, he reached the lake and tried to find her, was searching, just like he was in the hallways until he saw it, the dock and on the dock was a girl, the girl was wearing a white tank top, some shorts, and had a flower in her hair, barefoot, and when she turned around he could she had on red lipstick. He was admiring the beauty in front of him and got closer and closer, she turned back to the view and wasn't as beautiful as her. She speaks
"You know, this is one of my favorite places to just relax and unwind from the busy world around us. This calming, serine, beautiful. Please sit" she says as can sense the presence of him standing and he takes the seat next to her
"Dip your toes in the water, it will feel better for relaxation," she said but he refused, she sensing his nervous energy
She laughed, "What's the matter, scared", as she wiggled her toes in front of him
"No", he finally speaks, "I just don't want to that's all, I didn't like what you did there"
"Cmon, I know you have a secret foot fetish" She senses him getting embarrassed and laughs some more
"Lies, all lies", he says
"Yeah, whatever", she laughs it off
They pause taking in the view until Phoebus talks
"So…", he pauses some more, "What are we, friends, not friends, boyfriend & girlfriend, or transitioning?"
She pauses now to think
"The latter"
"Really?" he asks
"Really" she replies
"What if we don't work out"
"Well then…we always are the best of friends, believe that to the fullest"
He smiles when she says, "You know I'll always have your back right"
She smiles now, "I know that, and I'll have yours"
They both pause taking in the view again, until he speaks
"Can't wait to see your outfit for the formal" he says
"Can't wait to see yours as well", she replies
After they say that they look into each other's eyes and hold each other tight
"You look so beautiful," he said
"Why, because I'm in your arms" she replied smiling
"No, I would say that anytime I see you"
She holds him even tighter with a reply of, "Thanks"
They stay like that until he speaks
"You know we could easily fall asleep doing this," he said
"I already did", she talks
"What?"
"Buckle up, it's a long long story"
Fascinating interaction between Esmeralda and Phoebus in a very fascinating location, what will be the status of their relationship moving on...find out in the next few chapters, starting with the next chapter coming out on the 14th or 15th.
