"Oh fuck!" She cried as she snatched her hand back. There was a burn mark underneath her bracelet, but it was already healing. She took a step back from Hellboy.

"You okay?" Hellboy asked as he tried to grab her wrist with his normal hand, but she wouldn't let him touch her.

"What do you think?" She snapped at him. She shook her hand. The pain tingled on her nerves before it went away.

She looked up at Hellboy to see him looking at her. His eyebrows furrowed between his eyes, and he had crossed his arms at his chest. She felt remorseful immediately.

"I'm sorry," she apologized. "I didn't mean to snap at you. I forgot that I had this stupid thing on my wrist."

He grabbed her arm and pulled her into a hug. "I know. I'm glad what we did made you forget about it. But I also know you're frustrated having it."

She leaned her head on his chest as he kept his arms around her. She looked towards the bed. "How can we be able to continue doing what we did if I have this on? I don't think I'd enjoy it."

He set his chin on her head, "Pain can be a good thing if we did it the right way."

She pulled her head back and glanced at him, "Please don't tell me you want to introduce pain in our activities?"

He laughed. She could feel the rumble of it going through his chest. "No. I don't even think you'd be ready for that for a long time."

"You bet your ass I wouldn't be."

He let out another laugh, then he grabbed her arms and pulled her from his body. He used his regular hand to grab her wrist that had the bracelet. She flinched as she got ready for the pain, but when none came, she sighed. He heard her and knew she was afraid. He inspected it and noted that she fully healed.

"I made a mistake earlier," He started. She looked up at him sharply. He backtracked once he saw where her train of thought went. "Not that. No…that wasn't a mistake. I enjoyed it…thoroughly."

"I meant earlier, when I withheld information about your bracelet and my role in it," He explained. She opened her mouth to say something, but he kept going. "I'm really sorry I did that. I shouldn't have kept it a secret. I put you in harm's way when I did that. You being here is my fault."

"But-"

"But that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy having you here. I love having you here, where I can touch you…where I can have you underneath me," he said as he looked at her. She blushed. "Where I can hug you when I need it."

She stayed silent, listening intently.

"I was scared because I didn't want to lose you like the way I lost Liz. I had so much guilt over her death because I thought it was my fault. I didn't want your death to be my fault either. For whatever reason…whatever design there is out there, something or someone thought I should be the only one who can break this," He said as he pulled up her wrist. She glanced at it. "I don't want to hurt you. I don't want to kill you, but I want you to have the freedom you desire."

She looked up at him, stunned. "Wait…do you mean you're willing to help me get this off?"

He nodded, "If that's what you want, yes."

She couldn't believe it. She was speechless. She understood the reasoning behind his hesitation to help in the way she needed it. She understood why he lied to her in the first place, even though she still didn't like that he lied so quickly after they met. She understood everything. And now…he wanted to do it for her despite the huge risk.

"You…I…yes! I want it off," she stammered. "I can't have this anymore. I don't want to have to wait before I have to suffer letting my wings go because it's so uncomfortable. I want you to touch me without fear of pain. I want…yes."

"Okay," He said as he nodded. He took hold of her other hand and held it. "Let's go."

"Now?" She replied. She wasn't expecting that.

"I mean, unless you want it on longer…" he trailed off.

"Oh, fuck that shit!" She exclaimed happily. "I want it off now."

He laughed and pulled her arm. He led her towards the door. As he opened the door, she had a thought. She remembered her self-portrait that Hellboy had admired a short time ago.

Looks like she'll have to make a new drawing…one without chains.

She stayed silent as Hellboy guided her to the Library. They stopped there first. She didn't pay attention much when Hellboy went to get Abe. He had figured they could use his help, should anything happen. She barely acknowledged Abe when he joined them and Hellboy grabbed her hand again and led them out of the Library towards another area where she had never been. A few moments later, he opened a set of double doors and they walked into a small gym. The sound of the doors closing snapped her out of it and she looked around at the new space. It wasn't a big space, but there were several machines scattered around the room. His voice distracted her.

"Agents," Hellboy commanded as he had seen a few in the room. "Get out."

The few agents that had been working in the gym, dropped what they were doing. They grabbed their stuff and headed out. They respected him too much to even protest.

"Really Red?" Abe commented. "You could've been a little nicer than that."

Hellboy shrugged. He didn't care. He wanted the space to just them three.

"Why are we here?" Angel asked him.

He turned to her. "I wanted you to have the space."

"For what?" She asked as she looked around again.

"For your wings," He said. "Once we break that, you're spreading your wings and flying."
