Chapter 9: True Color's Part One
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
The sounds of terrified screaming could be heard throughout the skies of Newtopia. These screams belonged to a certain trio from another world (along with their friends) who currently falling at rapid speed while onboard a giant sparrow. In other words…..
"WE'RE GOING TO DIE!" screamed Sprig.
"I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE!" shouted Polly.
"I'M TOO OLD TO DIE!" cried Hop Pop.
"I DON'T WANNA DIE IN GENERAL!" screamed Anne.
Two days ago, Marcy had been contacted by the Time Lord known as the Doctor. The reason behind this was that Doctor was passing on a message from King Andrias himself. It requested that the group come to Newtopia so they could send both Anne and Marcy home. The Plantar family along with their new robotic friend Frobo would accompany them on the journey to the great kingdom. Coming along with the group were also the Sundews Ivy and Felicia. The reason behind this was that the Doctor wanted to reward the two before making his leave and that King Andrias had approved of this decision.
Also tagging along was the recently reunited duo that was Sasha and Grime. When the two questioned about coming to Newtopia (due to being wanted for various crimes), Marcy replied that they would be fine as the charges against them had been dropped. The thirteen-year-old Taiwanese American had apparently convinced the Time Lord to put in his own good word for them. When Sasha asked how the Doctor had done it, Marcy replied that Gallifreyan had mentioned he was a master when changing people's minds. This did raise some suspicion between the blonde teen and toad but decided to let it slide (probably the relief that they were no longer wanted criminals).
When planning on the return trip to Newtopia, Anne suggested asking the Doctor if he could take them via his TARDIS. However, when Marcy contacted the Time Lord, the Doctor replied with an apology as he would be unable due to having some maintenance problems (or at least what Taiwanese American told them). So because of this, they had to settle for Joe Sparrow but there were several problems with this.
Firstly, the journey would take a longer amount of time than via TARDIS as it took about a day or two via flight. Secondly, Joe was now carrying around ten times the weight he normally would when making such a long trip so the trip would take even longer (that's if Joe didn't collapse midway). Lastly, while they made it to Newtopia despite the increased weight and the long journey, the giant Sparrow was completely exhausted and could not keep flying. So now they were falling from the sky to the gates of King Andrias's castle at an alarmingly fast rate.
Luckily for the group, Joe (at the very last second) managed to pull up from his rapid divebomb into the Newtopia gates. This allowed Frobo to use itself as a shield for most of the impact from the fall as Joe crashed into the water in front of the entrance. While the group was basically unharmed by the rough landing, they were all soaked head to toe in seawater.
"For Joe's sake, no one is allowed to join our party," said Marcy, with everyone nodding in agreement.
Frobo then lifted poor Joe out of the water as everyone climbed off the giant sparrow. While the majority disembarked via the avian back, Anne then reached into Joe's satchel and grabbed Hop Pop (who had been there due to the lack of space on the bird's back) carefully lifting him to the ground. Once everyone had recovered from the initial shock of almost plummeting to their deaths, the group then started to head towards the gates. As they approached, the crew was then spotted by the gatekeeper.
"Marcy Wu and co. reporting in!" said Marcy, giving a salute to the keeper.
The gatekeeper then gave a thumbs up before giving a signal to two guards. The pair then got to work and started to push the wheel and opened the gates to Newtopia. The group then entered and began to walk to King Andrias's castle. As they passed many buildings and statues, Ivy began to stare at them in wonder. This was her first time being beyond Wartwood and was not used to seeing a more civilized society like Newtopia.
"Wow," exclaimed Ivy, looking around. "It looks so huge around here!"
The young frog bounced around looking and touching everything she saw. "Touch," she said, poking a nearby statue.
"Ivy Sundew be careful!" said Felicia. "We are guests remember! We need to behave! Besides, we can explore the city later."
"Fine," grumbled Ivy, returning to her mother.
Felicia Sundew herself had been to Newtopia with her former husband. This was due to the nature of him being traveller who would often take her on all kinds of adventures around Amphibia. However later years, she was unable to go on anymore adventures with her husband due to the birth of their daughter, Ivy, and opening her own tea shop to provide for the two. This conflict between Felicia's new duty of motherhood and business owner combined with her former husband's taste for adventure, and lack of taking responsibility as a father resulted in the two divorcing. All that remained with the Sundews were his tales of adventure, which in turn inspired Ivy to one day become a traveller.
The group continued to walk further into the streets of Newtopia and closer to their destination. To pass the time, they began to converse with each other.
"What an amazing adventure!" exclaimed Marcy. "Makes you wish it could last forever, huh?"
In response, Anne gave a look of uncertainty. "Hmm, I'm not sure I'd go that far,' she said but then looked at the Plantar's. "But yeah, it was pretty cool."
"You sure that we're in the clear Mar-Mar?" asked Sasha. "I know the Professor got us cleared but something doesn't feel right."
"Come on Sash!" said Marcy, waving it off. "Ever since the Doctor arrived, he has been helping us trying to get home."
"Yeah!" said Anne. "And besides why would he do anything to hurt us?"
"I hope you're right," replied Sasha. "It'll be nice to go back home."
As the three girls continued to chat away with each other, the sounds of scratching and groaning could also be heard within the group. Ever since their journey from Wartwood to Newtopia, Polly had been getting an itching feeling in her behind (annoying her greatly). It had been driving her crazy and wished it would stop but had only gotten worse.
"This itch is killing me!" screamed Polly, scratching like there was no tomorrow.
"I've got some ointment that'll fix that right up," said Hop Pop.
The elderly frog then pulled out a tube from his pocket and undid the cap. As soon as the cap came off, a foul stench began to flood the polliwog's nostrils which caused her to tear up. "Hop Pop, no!" she screamed, hopping as far away from the ointment. "It stinks!"
This caused Hop Pop to give chase, trying to put catch Polly and rub the ointment on her. Seeing this made Marcy, Anne, Sprig, and Ivy laugh in amusement as the elder frog chased after the tadpole. After a good few seconds of laughter, they then stopped and composed themselves.
"I can't believe we did it," said Sprig, "After all our adventures, this is the end."
After realizing what he just said, Sprig's face then changed from that of a happy one to more of a bittersweet one. While on one hand, he was happy that the music box was finally fully charged, allowing Anne and her friends to return home. On the other hand, he was sad that Anne was leaving after all the bonding and adventures she had gone through with him and his family.
Anne, (now noticing Sprig's change of mood) then put a hand on his shoulder as she comforted him. "Hey," she said, softly. Just because the adventure's over, doesn't mean we can't see each other. As long as we've got that music box, I'll be able to visit."
"I guess so," said Sprig, now smiling.
"Wait!" exclaimed Anne, realizing something. "You can even come to visit me in my world!"
"Yeah!" replied Sprig, "That'll be awesome!"
"You could even bring your parents too!" said Anne, excitedly.
The young Plantar's face then turned to make a frown. "Anne my parents, their-"
"I know," replied Anne somberly. "But remember what the Doctor said? He can bring them back!"
Hearing these words changed Sprig's attitude immediately. He remembered what the Time Lord had told him before they entered the third temple and how he promised to prevent the death of his and Polly's parents. Even though he barely knew them, the very thought of seeing his parents alive and well again excited the frog boy. He could get to know them properly, introduce them to Anne and even take them to her world!
"Yeah, he did say that!" said Sprig, with a smile on his face.
As Anne and Sprig chatted away, undenounced to them (or any of the group in general), Marcy was starting to get nervous. While the Newtopian ranger wasn't showing it on the surface, what was plaguing her mind was another story. Today was the day, she and her friends had all the stones charged and were ready to travel back to Earth. Back to her normal life with no more wild adventures to go on, puzzles to solve, and worst of all moving away from her friends. She would have to face the fact that her friendship between Anne and Sasha was going to end when they get back to Earth which in turn scared her. Adding to the list of problems was the fact that King Andrias, who had originally welcomed her into Newtopia's society was in fact a tyrant wanting to subjugate all of Amphibia!
Luckily for her, the thirteen-year-old had someone to help her solve these problems and his name was the Doctor. He was a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who had been stranded in Amphibia like her and her friends. Like her, he too had a sense of adventure, traveling the stars, discovering new worlds, and fighting evil like her favorite character of all time (well favorite tv character not counting Cynthia Coven or Good Witch Azura) Dr. Hankry Zone. When the Taiwanese American told the Doctor of her troubles, the Gallifreyan promised her that he would help solve them and that she would not have to worry about a thing.
One day prior
"So I take it you didn't win?"
Marcy was currently in the Fwagon alone, with her communicator as she talked to the Doctor. She was currently explaining what had gone down the past couple of days. She had told him of the dinner party she, Anne, Sasha, Grime, and the Plantar's had and was currently telling him of the Battle of the Bands.
"Sadly no," said Marcy. "But on the upside, we did get second place!"
"I see," spoke the Doctor, with an amused tone. "Well, I guess getting second place isn't all that bad."
"Yeah," replied Marcy. "So Doctor, about King Andrias-"
"Already handled my dear," responded the Doctor. "I assure you, I have everything under control. I just need you to act like everything is normal and not tell anyone about this."
Upon hearing this, the young girl was not surprised by his answer. Every time she had asked the Time Lord about his plan or shown some doubt about it, all that he responded with was that she would have to trust him. He had not even shown her the details of said plan and time was running out.
"But Doctor, I thought you said that you were going to stop him?" said Marcy, her tone rising. "Why is he still in control of Newtopia?"
Over the communicator, she could hear the Time Lord give a sigh. "Look, my dear," he said, trying to comfort her. "I'll explain everything once you get to Newtopia. I promise you everything will be fine. I just need you to act.. normal."
This did little help to calm Marcy down. "You sure this is going to work?" she asked. "You haven't really explained to me what your plan is even!"
"I have no need to!" shouted the Doctor, frustrated. "I have the situation perfectly under control!"
"But I could help you!" argued Marcy. "Why can't you show me?"
"I have no need for help!" said the Doctor, coldly. "And besides I don't need you to get involved."
The hairs on Marcy's head shivered as she had never heard the Time Lord talk so cruelly towards her. "What?" she asked, confused by the Doctor's sudden change in mood.
"My apologies," said the Doctor, now in a more warmer tone. "It's just that I am so used to doing things alone. Especially after Adric died."
This caused the thirteen-year-old to think about what was going through the Time Lord's mind and why he was acting this way. Was he really that stubborn to think that it was his duty to save all of Amphibia by himself? Did he not want her direct help so she would not end up like Adric? So many thoughts and possibilities ran through the young girl's mind.
"You're not alone remember?" said Marcy, softly. "You have me. I can help if you just tell me what you are planning."
She then heard the Time Lord sigh. For a few seconds, there was silence between the two before the Doctor then spoke up.
"Very well," said the Doctor.
"Do you really mean it?" asked Marcy.
"Yes my dear," replied the Doctor. "It's best if I come clean with you. All of you."
Hearing this caused some hope for Marcy as the Time Lord was finally opening up. "Great!" she said. "I'll get the others so you can tell them everything."
"Not here," said the Doctor. "I'll explain everything once you and your friends arrive in Newtopia. Specifically King Andrias's castle.
"Why not here and now?" asked Marcy, curiously.
"It'll be better if I show you it in person," replied the Doctor. "I assure you, everything will become clear."
'You sure?" asked Marcy.
"Absolutely," responded the Doctor. "Besides, don't you trust me?"
Thoughts of doubt once again flooded the Newtopian ranger's mind. Was the Doctor really being honest with her? Would he lie to her after everything they have been through and how he had been nothing but kind to her?
"I do," replied Marcy. "It's just that keeping all these secrets feels.. wrong. I know I've been doing this since I arrived in Amphibia but lying about something this big is just getting too much to handle."
She then heard the Time Lord sigh on the communicator. "It seems you a decision to make, Ms. Wu," he said. "You can come clean with your friends about everything we have planned here and now."
"Obviously, It would not be cut and clean as it would be easier to explain in person," continued the Doctor. "Your friends would be angered by your deception, then spread the word about how King Andrias is a tyrant and possibly lead a failed attempt at a rebellion which will certainly lead to their demises while also undoing all of my plans to save Amphibia."
Hesitation came to Marcy's mind once again. There was indeed a risk of telling her friends everything as they may be angry with her decision to keep information from them. She may even accidentally reveal that she herself trapped Anne and Sasha in Amphibia on purpose (like she did with the Doctor) with the possibility of destroying their friendship forever!
"Or alternatively," said the Doctor. "You can stick to my plan and I'll explain everything once you arrive in Newtopia. I'll be able to cover for you, explain everything in detail so it will be crystal clear what our intentions were, and be able to help save the entire race of Amphibia."
'Whichever you choose I will not hold against you," said the Doctor, softly. "After all it's your decision but bear in mind, whatever choice you make, you will never be able to go back from it, and will be with you for the rest of your life."
This caused the Taiwanese American to become silent as she began to think. Decision-making for herself wasn't her strong suit but Marcy had to make a choice. Either continue trusting the Time Lord to save the entire civilization of Amphibia or come clean with her friends about everything and risk it. Which should she choose?
Present day
There's no going back. Though Marcy.
The Newtopian ranger had made her choice. She had put her faith in the Doctor over her friends and now hoped that this was not a mistake. Regardless of the outcome, she would have to stick with it and live it for the rest of her life. She just hoped she did not make the wrong one.
"Hey, Mar-Mar," said Anne, interrupting the thirteen-year-old's thoughts. "Something wrong?"
Quickly, the young Flipwart champion then composed herself. "Oh what me?" she said, waving her hand lazily. "Ppppfffft! As if!"
"You sure?" asked Anne. "You seemed to zone out for a few minutes."
"I was just thinking about all the episodes of Dr. Zone I've missed," said Marcy, quickly. "I just hope I haven't missed the season finale."
"Of course," replied Anne, rolling her eyes. "You never miss an episode for the world, well except when we got trapped here."
"Typical Marcy," added Sasha, joining in on the conversation. "Still don't know how you got us to watch the 60th anniversary."
"Um firstly, actually it was the 50th anniversary special," corrected Marcy. "And secondly, you kinda both slept through it, remember?"
Both Sasha and Anne then gave a sheepish that read "oops sorry." This usually was the case when the trio watched something Marcy liked with the two paying little to no attention to her (didn't help that the special aired at 2 am). Sometimes the thirteen-year-old Taiwanese American felt left out of her two friend's antics, often being the third wheel but she didn't mind. As long as they had each other, nothing could stop them.
After some walking through the city of Newtopia, the group finally arrived at King Andrias's castle. Ivy and her mother stared in wonder as they saw the massive castle tower over them. As the two Sundews gazed at the castle, the rest were then greeted by the sight of General Yunan along with a few guards.
"Hi, General Yunan!" greeted Marcy.
"Greetings Master Marcy," replied Yunan.
The newt General then looked over the rest of the group. "I see you brought friends along with you," she said. "Along with the former Captain Grime and his Lieutenant Sasha Waybright."
The guards then raised their spears towards the Toad Tower duo with Sasha and Grime exchanging looks with General Yunan and her escort, remembering their last encounter with her. For a few moments there seemed to be tension in the air, neither toad (plus human girl) nor newt saying anything and with both parties having weapons at the ready. Marcy, Anne, the Sundews, and Plantars watched from the side, anxious to see what would happen next.
Then after what felt like forever, General Yunan then raised her hand in front of her guards. "Stand down," she said.
Much to the other's relief the guards then lowered their weapons. General Yunan and the guards then lead the group into the castle and towards the throne room. Waiting inside the massive room were King Andrias, the Doctor, and Lady Olivia. The Doctor then walked up to Marcy as the elderly Time Lord then picked up the teen for a hug.
"Marcy my dear child!" said the Doctor. "It's good to see you!"
"You too Doctor!" replied Marcy.
The thirteen-year-old then lent towards the Time Lord's ear and began to whisper. "So are you going to tell them-"
"In a minute my dear," whispered the Doctor. "I promise you today, there will be no more secrets, no more lies and everything will be clear."
The Doctor then put Marcy down as her friends came up to greet the Gallifreyan and Newtopian King.
"I trust you were successful?" spoke King Andrias, standing from his throne.
Anne then pulled the music box out of her bag. "Boom!" she said. "One fully charged music box."
"Excellent!" replied King Andrias. "Now let's send you girls along with your Time Lord friend back home."
The Thai Wartwood girl was about to hand the box over to the salamander when the Doctor spoke up. "Actually, I would like to say something," he said. "Something I should have said a long time ago."
King Andrias and Anne paused for a second, waiting for the Doctor to explain. The Time Lord then briefly looked at Marcy (who was sweating bullets) and then back to the group. "I have not been-"
Suddenly, before the Doctor could finish, a tongue had grabbed the music box. Said tongue belonged to Grime who then passed the music box to Sasha. Everyone stared at the two in shock and confusion.
"Sasha what are you doing?" said Anne, confused.
"Doing what I do best," replied Sasha, grinning. "Taking control!"
The former toad captain then pulled a Warhammer from his back and slammed it on the ground resulting in a shockwave. This caused everyone but the duo to lose balance and fall to the floor. Several guards present then charged at the duo but were quickly defeated with little effort. In response, the Doctor pulled out his laser screwdriver but before he could do anything, he was quickly punched in the gut by Sasha and let go of the screwdriver in the process as it fell to the floor. In response, Marcy quickly ran over to the Time Lord's aid.
"Doctor are you all right?" asked Marcy, desperately.
Before the Taiwanese American could reach for the Doctor's screwdriver, a hand then snatch the screwdriver off the ground. That hand belonged to Sasha Waybright who then examined the alien device for a brief moment. She proceeded to put the screwdriver in her pocket.
"I'll be keeping this," mocked Sasha.
"What is the meaning of this?!" wheezed the Doctor, still in pain.
"Yeah, Sasha!" said Anne. "Cut it out!"
In response to the duo's attack, King Andrias then charged forward at the former toad captain on all fours, giving a loud roar. He then headbutted Grime and sent him flying across the room.
"Stop!" yelled Sasha.
The toad lieutenant was currently holding the box over the edge of the balcony. "Not another move or I drop it!" she said.
"Why are you doing this?" said Anne, "The Doctor had you and Grime cleared!"
"Well maybe I want more than that," replied Sasha, smugly.
"What do you mean more?!" shouted Anne.
'She won't do it," said a voice from behind.
It was the Doctor, who had recovered from punch the thirteen-year-old blonde teen had given him with Marcy beside him. "You wouldn't destroy your only way home," he said. 'You'll be stranded like the rest of us."
"Try me," responded Sasha, not even phased.
King Andrias then charged Sasha with the intent of grabbing the music box. However, before he could react, Grime then slammed his mighty Warhammer into the salamander's knee and made a sickening crunch sound on impact. This caused the giant to groan in pain as the former toad captain hit him again.
"Oh my!" said Felicia, covering Ivy's eyes.
In response to the King of Newtopia being assaulted, General Yunan charged towards Grime. However, before she could even lay a hit on the former toad captain, she was then blocked off by Sasha. The girl then raised her sword towards the newt.
"Ready for a rematch?" said Sasha, mockingly.
"Oh, how I have been waiting for this!" sneered Yunan.
Upon hearing this, Marcy gasped. "Yunan, wait!" she called out.
However, the newt General ignored her and with a mighty battle cry, she then charged at the blonde lieutenant (who did the same). Two blades clashed then against the human's sword as they exchanged thrusts and parries, hoping to land a blow on their opponent. However, while the two were fighting, Grime was able to sneak behind General Yunan before hitting her with his Warhammer, sending her flying into a wall and rendering her unconscious.
"Thanks, Grimesy," said Sasha, putting away her sword.
Now confused and angered seeing this conflict, Anne then spoke up. "Both of you, stop this!" she yelled.
"Stop?!" replied Grime, grinning. "But we're just getting started!"
The former toad captain then gave out a loud bellowing call. Throughout the streets of Newtopia, several toad soldiers began to reveal themselves and started to engage any nearby guards. A bell started to ring, summoning reinforcements to help repel the intruders however Grime had a few words for them.
"Soldiers of Newtopia!" shouted Grime. "Put down your arms this instant or the next thing I smash will be your king's head!"
To back up his claims, the toad then pointed his hammer at the downed salamander's head. In response to this, the newts dropped their weapons and surrendered to Grime's forces. The toads then quickly rounded up the soldiers.
"Excellent!" said Grime. "Open the gate!"
Two toad soldiers then got to work and started to turn the wheel. Once the gate was open, two more put what seemed to be a comically large doorstopper at the base to keep it open. Upon seeing this, a smile crept its way up the former toad captain's face.
Several of Grime's forces then entered the throne room, armed with spears, swords, axes, and with cuffs in their hands. The toads got to work shackling the guards present and then leading them out of the room. Once all the Newtopian royal guards were escorted out, the toads then started to restrain King Andrias.
"So you think you've won, do you?" snarled King Andrias.
"Sure do," replied Grime. "And if you think things are bad now, in a couple of hours, the rest of our army will be at your doorstep!"
Grime then pointed towards the balcony, outside of the city of Newtopia. The group then saw the rest of the toad army marching their way to the gate. Hundreds upon hundreds of toad soldiers, armed to the teeth and ready to take over all of Newtopia.
"Take him to the dungeon," commanded Grime. "Find him an extra-large cell."
Several toads proceeded to push King Andrias out of his own throne room. As he was being "escorted" out, the giant salamander glared at the Toad Tower duo. "You will never get away with this!" he yelled.
"Oh, we shall indeed," sneered Grime, then turning to two toads. "Have the Doctor locked up too. I don't want the so-called savior of Amphibia interfering."
As the toads went towards the Time Lord, they were then blocked by Marcy. The thirteen-year-old had a look of desperation and confusion written all over her face due to her friend's sudden betrayal. "Wait, you can't!" she said, before looking at Sasha. "Sasha you have to stop them!"
The two toads then pushed the Newtopian ranger out of the way and placed cuffs upon the Doctor. They then grabbed the Gallifreyan as he yelled and struggled in their grasp. "Get your disgusting hands off of me!" he shouted. "Do you know who I am?!" However, this did little to phase the toads as they dragged him out of the room.
"Sorry Mar-mar," replied Sasha. "Nothing personal. Just gonna need the Professor out of the way to get this toad regime off the ground."
"Say hello to the new rulers of Amphibia!" said Grime, proudly. "Pretty hot, right?"
"Are you serious?!" said Anne, lividly.
"Sheesh," said Sasha, uncaringly. "Take a chill pill, Anne. It's not like we killed anyone."
These comments however did little to calm both Marcy and Anne down but Sasha initially ignored this. Both of them were unhappy with the blonde's choice. On one hand, Anne was currently seething with anger due to this massive betrayal of trust. On the other hand, Marcy seemed to be confused and distressed.
Seeing that her friend's moods were not going to change, Sasha decided to soften up. "Look I can totally send you two home if you want," she said. "Or... you can stick around and give me a hand. So what do you say?"
This however was the last straw for Anne Boonchuy (who looked like she was ready to burst). Did Sasha really think that she and Marcy were going to sweep everything under the rug?
"What do I say?!" said Anne. "After everything you've done?! I say you're clearly insane if you think I'm gonna let you bully me and everyone else just to get what you want!"
Once again, ignoring her friend's clearly angered state Sasha tried to defuse the situation. "Anne, I know you're upset, but just—"
However, Anne was not willing to listen to the blonde's words any longer. "No! I'm done listening to you!" she shouted. "I'm done trusting you. You are a horrible person, and I AM DONE BEING FRIENDS WITH YOU!"
For a few moments, there was dead silence in the air. Neither Sasha Waybright nor Marcy Wu could believe the words that had just come out of their friend's mouth (now former friend in Sasha's case). The same when for everyone else in the room.
"Oh snap," said Poly, finally breaking the silence.
"You said it, girlfriend," replied Ivy.
While Sasha still remained stunned and heartbroken from Anne's previous comment, Marcy however quickly recollected herself. "Anne, you don't mean that," she said, nervously. "We can work something out. Right?"
"No, Marcy," replied Anne, sombrely. "We can't."
Upon hearing this, Sasha then snapped out of her current state. Her previous feelings turned from shock to bitterness. "Fine," she said. "Well, since we're not friends, I'll just send you home. And you can say goodbye to your little frog family forever!"
"You wouldn't!" said Anne.
"My box, My rules," replied Sasha, smirking. "Say hi to your parents for me."
Anne then gasped and looked at the Plantar's and Sundews, now realizing what was going to happen. She then ran over to her adopted frog family and embrace them with the knowledge that this would be the last time. While they weren't as close to Anne as the Plantar's, both Ivy and Felicia hugged Anne with the Plantar's. They all closed their eyes for the inevitable.
Marcy then tried to intervene once again. "Sasha wait!" she called out.
Unfortunately, Sasha was not willing to listen to her now-only best friend as she opened the box. However, much to her surprise nothing happened. Anne, the Sundews, and the Plantar's then opened their eyes to see they were still in Amphibia.
"Huh?" said the group collectively, confused to what was happening
Sasha then tried to use the music box again but nothing happened. She then started to shake the box violently before trying again but with the same result. "Come on work dammit!" she shouted, trying again but yet again nothing happened.
"Um was something supposed to happen?" asked a confused Ivy.
After a few more attempts, the blonde finally gave up. "Well, that was embarrassing," she said. "Until I can figure out how to use-"
*BBBTTTZZZTTT*
All of a sudden a loud buzzing sound echoed into everyone's ear drums. It was then followed up by the sounds of screaming which were quickly cut off, sending a chill down everyone's spine. Everyone present in the room then looked to see where the source of these sounds was coming from, which seemed to emanate from outside the throne room.
Suddenly the door to the throne room opened, revealing none other than the Doctor. The Time Lord seemed to be perfectly fine and unharmed, brushing himself off as he entered the room. Strangely, the two toads who previously dragged him away to the dungeon were not present nor were his cuffs.
"Doctor?" said a confused Marcy. "How did you…"
"Escape my dear?" replied the Doctor. "It's quite simple, I was never in danger."
The Gallifreyan then gave a sadistic smile. "In fact, everything is going according to plan."
Author's note: Here it is. Apologies for the late update. My hard drive died at the last second so I was able to salvage this much. Stay tuned for part two.
