Chapter 46 The Quidditch World Cup part two
I want to warn everyone that this chapter has a large part of the canon, but there are differences.
25th August 1994, just outside of the stadium, Quidditch World Cup
Ron is stuffing his face and has almost spent everything on the different food stalls all from different countries. He looks around to if he sees Harry and when he does he will try to convince Harry to 'lend' him some money to get more food as he did think he eat enough this morning and lunch wasn't fulfilling.
It took almost 15 minutes before he sees Ginny dragging Harry away. He sees the new shirt from Ginny. It looks expensive and he hopes Harry didn't use his money for it as Harry otherwise can't 'lend' him money. Maybe Harry's name gets him some free food otherwise.
'Harry must do if he can't 'lend' me any money' Ron thinks.
When he walks toward Harry and the girls he notices a small group of girls heading out of the woods. He vaguely remembers then so they must be from Hogwarts not that he cares much. All Ron thinks about is getting more food and how Harry can 'help' with getting that.
Ron Is close enough to hear one of the girls "hey Harry."
It seems to get the attention of not only Harry but also Ginny. Hermione, Susan and Hannah were whispering a few feet away. It is Parvati who greeted Harry who is with her sister Padma and Su Li.
Harry sees them and greets every one of them. When Ron steps beside Harry the girls' smile falters a bit but try to politely greet Ron who barely acknowledges them only giving a half-hearted hey. Ron immediately drags Harry to some of the food stalls he hasn't been to yet due because of the lack of money.
Just before Ron managed to get to the first food stall he hasn't been to yet Hermione and Ginny appear in Ron's way. Harry sees it happening and with difficulty by pulling back from Ron and manages to stop Ron with help of Hermione and Ginny. Harry is sure if he didn't stop Ron he would have walked between Hermione and Ginny sending them to the ground.
Hermione says "Ronald let go of Harry."
Ginny asks "why do you drag Harry along?"
Ron says "I wanted to show him a stall with food he may like. I got no money left for it but maybe Harry would like to taste it and help me."
Hermione says "Ronald you already used your money and now you want Harry to pay for your food. How dare you?"
Ron without thinking says "that is not it. I just thought Harry may like it and if he would give me a taste but I don't have enough left. I just hope he does as it looks very tasty."
Hermione and Ginny were mad at Ron. Susan was also mad but no one besides her best friend Hannah seems to notice.
Harry sees Hermione and Ginny's faces and says "Hermione and Ginny it doesn't matter I guess I would like to see. I never eat anything from other countries. The Dursleys only eat English meals."
Ron sees it as Harry agreeing to pay for it and says "come on Harry. It is Italian food I have never seen before. It may even be muggle food."
Ron is almost giddy like a little girl when Harry walks past him. He gently lays his hands one on Hermione's shoulder and the other one on Ginny's shoulder. He says "well why don't we look. We can also look at some merchandise at one of the other stalls like hats, scarfs or something."
Harry thinks he suggests looking for merchandise after the food stall or stalls satisfy Hermione and Ginny. However, both don't are satisfied because they will look for merchandise. They are happy that Harry also thinks about hats, scarves and the likes so he would not spend all the money on food undoubtedly mostly for Ron with his bottomless garbage stomach.
Almost 45 minutes and 7 stalls later Ron wants to go to all the food stands again. The girls sometimes bought food or decide to split it between a couple. All the girls were appalled that how Ron was eating and wanted to go again but what is the worse in their eyes is that Harry paid for everything Ron bought and he didn't get one bite of it unless he bought more for himself.
Harry is talking with the girls. Hermione whispers if Ginny can take Harry out of earshot. Ginny nods and says to Harry "come on Harry let's look at the stall all the way over there."
Ginny points to the furthest stall they could see with merchandise for both countries.
When Harry is out of earshot Hermione has enough of Ron's attitude and says "no Ronald. This is enough, you even let Harry pay for everything for you. I won't let you use Harry for more."
Ron says "what does that matter. Harry is my best mate, he should buy things for me for everything we went through. He is finally using his famous name for something good."
Hermione says "everything we went through. You weren't even there half of the time. Harry defeated You-Know-Who in the first year and killed a basilisk in his second year to save Ginny. I know you weren't with us and when I was petrified you were barely there even when Harry was. And last year you were playing the pathetic guy that was hurt by an Animagus. While Harry finally found out the truth you didn't care and then I am not even counting that you opened Harry's presents last year that was all for him and I know you badgered your brothers for the same things according to Ginny. I wonder if you are really even Harry's friend."
Ron says "of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"
Hermione says "then prove it."
Ron knows he needs to be Harry's friend and asks "how?"
Hermione says "trust him no matter what and don't use him anymore. I know you don't have enough anymore. Maybe if you ask nicely Harry will give you and hat and scarf but not more certainly not food."
Ron looks disappointed but he isn't stupid, he knows that Harry trusts Hermione and knows that between him and her he can't choose what results in evading them both. He does stupidly think that Harry trusts him more even if it is barely.
Ron says "you are right. I am sorry I was just so hungry that I couldn't see it. I will not ask Harry anymore and I will trust him as I should last year with Sirius and Scabbers. I however still don't know how what really happened that night as Sirius luckily escaped but you two were with me the whole time as was Dumbledore. Sirius was nice enough to give me Pig though."
Hermione says "I also don't know we were in the hospital wing with you like you said when we heard the next morning that Sirius had escaped as did Pettigrew but you saw that of course."
Ron nods before Hermione turns around before Ron can see her face. Hermione is looking relieved Ron believed her lie, but with everything, she was hesitant to tell Ron the truth. It seems he hasn't asked Harry. Hopefully, Harry still thinks it is too much for Ron to understand and handle not to mention that time turners are not supposed to be used by a student.
Hermione thinks Professor McGonagall only managed because Professor Dumbledore probably agrees and he is one of the best wizards since Merlin so the ministry probably agreed with Professor Dumbledore's reassurance.
She still knows certain things didn't add up and thinks 'I must not question Professor Dumbledore. Wait why shouldn't I?... No, it doesn't matter he is the greatest wizard since Merlin. Ginny and I probably didn't know anything Harry may not tell us everything, but why didn't he?'
Before Hermione can think more about it when out of nowhere two girls appear. One girl immediately hugs Susan and while the other girl hugs Hannah. When they let go they immediately hug each other.
When they stopped hugging they greeted everyone even Ron. Although when greeting Ron was more being polite than anything else when they greet Harry they want to greet him and blushed when he greets them back by name. It is Megan and Sally-Ann the remaining girls from Hufflepuff in his year.
They look with everyone at more stalls with merchandise. A couple of hours later around 4 pm, everybody has bought some hats, scarves or both. Some of the girls also bought a shirt with one of the players or teams.
Ron asks all the girls "why don't you choose a shirt with Viktor Krum, he is the best seeker in the world and so young?"
Susan says "he looks so grumpy all the time, especially in all those pictures."
Ginny says "Hermione and I said exactly the same thing when we walked through the Bulgarian fans who all had pictures of Krum on by their tents."
Su Li says "well, you two were right although that means you are right too Susan. I understand he may be focused but he can at least smile a little when is on his broom and fly."
Ron asks no one in particular "who cares? He is world-famous."
They look at a few more stalls while Ron barely said anything when Megan and Sally-Ann turned up. He barely answered with words if someone asked him. The only time he talked was to praise and protect Viktor Krum.
It takes over half an hour before everyone is done when the other Weasleys except Mr. Weasley appear. They have also bought some souvenirs. When you look around in the group you can see that Ron is fully for Bulgaria while most of the others were for both countries except Bill, Ginny and Megan who are completely for the Irish. Harry and Hermione decide to support both and bought a top hat supporting the Irish and scarves for Bulgaria as it has red like Gryffindor. The others who support both teams or don't have a favourite also buy something to show they support both.
Bill says "ah there you are. Dad sends us to look for you. He thought it would be best to eat a bit sooner than planned and to tell you to not use all your money as before the match there are going to be some new stalls with merchandise but also some other things. Dad wasn't really clear about it. Anyway, come on we don't want to let Dad wait for too long.
Harry asks "Ginny why are you for the Irish?"
Ginny says "they got the greatest chasers in the world. You know Angelina, Alicia and Katie play perfectly together and know what the other is going to do. Well, the Irish chasers are even better."
Harry says "wow, then Bulgaria is having a hard time defeating them."
Ginny says "yeah they are."
Bill says "come on everyone. We will take everyone back before going to our tent."
Most say that they don't have to but Bill says "it is no problem also some witches and wizards have already started to party we don't want anything happening to you."
25th August 1994, campsite, Quidditch World Cup
First, they bring back Susan and Hannah. Amelia says "thank you for bringing them back. Now girls hurry up the French Ambassador and his daughters will arrive shortly and Minister Fudge wants me and both of you to be present for the dinner. So get cleaned up."
Amelia looks to the group and says "thank you for bringing them here. I especially want to thank you, Harry, Hermione, Ginny and Ronald. It seems they had a great time."
Hermione says "don't mention it we had a great time too."
Ginny and Harry nod while Ron barely acknowledges Amelia and is waiting for them to go as he is hungry for dinner and Bill got them for dinner.
Next, they went to walk the Patil twins and Su Li back to their tent. Su Li was with them as Padma's best friend. Parvati wanted to invite Lavender but she was overseas until two days ago and busy until the start of the school year.
Lastly, Megan and Sally-Ann however before they could enter their tent a woman a few years older than Bill and Charlie steps out. As Charlie stands in front of the tent to let those inside know the girls are back the woman almost bumps into him.
She looks up as Charlie is a bit taller and she asks "well hello there I think you are at the wrong tent unless you came here to visit me…."
Before she can continue another younger girl walks out of the tent when she says "seriously Gwenog, I swear every guy you see."
Gwenog says "ah but I really like this one Hestia."
Hestia rolls her eyes especially when she sees his face and says "hey Charlie didn't know you were back in England?"
Charlie asks "hey Hestia. Unfortunately, I am not for long. Tomorrow and the day after I have a lot of business to do before I need to return to the dragon reserve. Tomorrow and the day after will be very long days with many meetings and all. And did you manage to become an Auror and what about Tonks?"
Hestia nods and says "just like Tonks we are both Junior Aurors as of December. Fortunately, both Tonks and I passed it on the first try our trainees were also the last trainee groups to become Junior Auror in December. Starting this year the test will start in December and if you pass the other test will be in the following summer instead of September and December."
Hestia sees Bill a few feet behind Charlie and asks "Hey Bill how are you doing?"
Bill smiles and says "I am doing fine. How are you doing?"
Hestia says "I am doing fine. If you don't recognize her this is my niece Gwenog Jones and before you ask yes the captain and beater of the Holyhead Harpies."
The whole time Ginny was looking shocked. In front of her was her hero, the captain of the all-female Holyhead Harpies even though she was a beater and Ginny wants to be a chaser.
Charlie says "I would love to catch up Hestia but we should talk after the match. We came here to bring Megan and Sally-Ann here before we go to our own tent for dinner."
Hestia says "I think it is a good idea but I think Gwenog invited her teammates that are also here. If you won't mind Gwenog…."
Gwenog interrupts Hestia and says "of course Charlie is … and Bill are welcome."
The twins and especially Ginny are disappointed. Gwenog sees it and says "I would invite you all but heavy drinks we are probably getting drunk at some point and the match can end late. I suspect your parents want you in your own tent. Megan and Sally-Ann are here but I expect them to be asleep while I and my teammates enjoy a couple of drinks while Hestia here is on guard duty until the morning as Junior Auror she gets of course the worst time. I think most of the time she will break up fights and other drunk incidents."
Hestia says "I don't mind as I can't drink on duty so I wouldn't make a complete arse as myself as I did last year in Hogwarts when you Gryffindors gave a party and other houses were invited."
Charlie smiles and says "yeah I remember Fortunately, Tonks and I stopped you from making it even worse."
Hestia groans as she didn't remember much from that night but if what Tonks said was true it was bad already.
Bill says "I wonder what it was. Well, I guess Charlie and I will see you after the game. Come. We need to make sure Dad doesn't try to burn down the tent. Yes, Hermione, after you helped him with lunch he was eagerly waiting for dinner after he did what he needed to do, to try it himself … again."
With every step close to the tent it seems nothing happened as there is no smoke coming from their tent. It didn't take long before they are back at the tent.
25th August 1994, outside Weasley tent, Quidditch World Cup
When they arrive at their tent Mr. Weasley is examining an unlit match to know more about it.
When he sees them he asks "Hermione would you mind lighting the fire as I tried again and we don't have many matches left. We also need to keep some as spare for tomorrow morning to make breakfast."
Hermione nods and walks toward him. Everyone else follows although Ron and the twins went inside the tent. Harry and Ginny went to sit while Hermione lit the fire the muggle way. She never said it to anyone but she would lie if she would say she didn't like doing something the muggle way, flying being the prime example.
While the fire is burning Mr. Weasley goes inside to grab everything he needs. He comes back with sausages and eggs.
Mr. Weasley says "it may not be normal dinner food but I can't really make much more. Without Molly, this is the best we can do as I as can Ginny know how to prepare it. I don't know if Bill or Charlie can cook on a fire and therefore I think this is the best choice."
Bill says "if you don't want to get sick I recommend not letting me cook. Thank Merlin the Goblins provide the food for humans in Egypt."
Charlie says "tell me about it. I think if I make food it can kill, that bad. Fortunately, at the dragon reserve, you can eat with the other handlers in the mess hall. We have our own home with a kitchen I barely use for the sole reason I can't cook."
Hermione can't cook. When she helps with cooking she only cut the vegetables or something else. Everything else she can't do that. Mostly her father helps her mother with cooking her food. She tried a couple of times but was never successful. Her mother promised her she would learn Hermione after her OWL's. Hermione says "I don't mind sausages and eggs."
Harry says with a blank expression "Mr. Weasley if you want I can prepare it."
Mr. Weasley wants to give a smile and ask Harry if he would be kind enough to do so. However, when he sees Harry's expression on his face he sees some kind of sadness through the blank expression and decides to say "that is not needed, Harry. I am sure we can manage."
Harry gave a small smile that doesn't reach his eyes. Hermione and Ginny feel Harry's pain and sadness. Before either can control themselves they glue their selves to Harry's arms. Bill and Charlie gave a large smile especially when Harry smiles at Hermione and Ginny which is larger and does reach his eyes this time when he glances at them.
Harry and Hermione see that quite a couple of people greet Mr. Weasley. Mr. Weasley sees the confusion and says "most that walk by are from the ministry. Like there "that was Cuthbert Mockridge, Head of the Goblin Liaison Office...Here comes Gilbert Wimple he's with the Committee on Experimental Charms. He's had those horns for a while now"
Just like this morning, their tent seemed to be pitched right alongside a way many Ministry members take. Many Ministry members keep hurrying up and down it, greeting Mr. Weasley cordially as they passed. Mr. Weasley's own children knew too much about the Ministry to be greatly interested. He keeps telling about ministry people that greet him or walk by mainly for Harry's and Hermione's benefit.
Mr. Weasley gets greeted again and says "hello, Arnie...Arnold Peasegood, he's an Obliviator, member of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, you know"
Mr. Weasley point with his head and whispers "that's Bode and Croaker...they're Unspeakables..."
Harry asks "they're what?"
Mr. Weasley whispers quietly "from the Department of Mysteries, top-secret, no idea what they get up to."
At last, the fire was ready, and Mr. Weasley had just started cooking eggs and sausages Ron walks out of the tent obviously smelling the food immediately followed by the twins. Bill watches the woods and when Harry and Mr. Weasley look they see Percy coming strolling out of the woods toward them. The Weasleys greet him warmly but Harry can't shake the feeling it is a bit different than before.
Percy says loudly "I just apparated, Dad" almost like he trying to show off he can apparate inside the wards.
Percy sees the fire lit with eggs and sausages. He says "ah, excellent, dinner!"
They are halfway through dinner when Mr. Weasley jumped to his feet, waving and grinning at a man who was going straight for them. Hermione and Ginny immediately let go of Harry's arms both to their and Harry's disappointment.
Harry thinks 'Potter, it is the only thing friends do. Don't think too much of it.'
Mr. Weasley keeps smiling and says "aha! The man of the moment! Ludo!"
Ludo Bagman was easily the most noticeable person Harry and Hermione have seen so far, even including old Archie in his flowered nightdress. He was wearing long Quidditch robes in thick horizontal stripes of bright yellow and black with an enormous picture of a wasp was splashed across his chest.
He had the look of a powerfully built man gone as he got slightly thicker as the robes from his Quidditch days were stretched tightly across a large belly he surely had not had in the days when he had played Quidditch for England.
His nose was squashed 'probably broken by a stray Bludger' Harry thinks. Bagman's round blue eyes, short blond hair, and rosy complexion made him look like a very overgrown schoolboy some can say.
Bagman happily calls out to Mr. Weasley "ahoy there!"
Bagman is almost jumping which each step like he has springs attached to the balls of his feet and was plainly in a state of wild excitement.
When he reaches the campfire before the tent takes a seat and says "Arthur, old man. What a day, eh? What a day! Could we have asked for more perfect weather? A cloudless night coming...and hardly a hiccough in the arrangements...Not much for me to do!"
Behind Bagman a group of haggard-looking Ministry wizards rushed past, pointing at the distant evidence of some sort of a magical fire that was sending violet sparks twenty feet into the air. Percy immediately stands up and hurried follows with his hand outstretched. Apparently, his disapproval of the way Ludo Bagman ran his department did not prevent him from wanting to make a good impression.
Mr. Weasley says grinningly "ah …. yes that is my son Percy. He's just started at the Ministry and this is Fred ….. wait no, George, sorry ….. that's Fred. There is Bill, Charlie, and Ron. And my daughter, Ginny and Ron's friends, Hermione Granger and Harry Potter."
Bagman did the smallest of double takes when he heard Harry's name, and his eyes performed the familiar flick upward to the scar on Harry's forehead.
Mr. Weasley notices and immediately tries to take his attention off Harry. The best way to do it is to give attention to Ludo. Mr. Weasley says "everyone this is Ludo Bagman, you know who he is, it's thanks to him we've got such good tickets…"
Bagman beams as he waves his hand and irrupts Mr. Weasley by saying "it is nothing Arthur. You earned it with how busy you have been with all the muggle artefacts contraband foreign witches and wizards brought with them including the time to remove the spells and charms if not worse. Fortunately, most wizards and witches don't bother the muggles too much after entering the campsite or you would be even busier."
Suddenly Bagman got a mischievous smile on his face and rather eagerly asks "anyway Arthur fancy a flutter on the match?"
He had a hand in the pockets of his yellow and black robes. His hands were moving which sounds like a lot of Galleons clashing together.
He says even more eagerly if possible "I've already got Roddy Pontner betting me Bulgaria will score first. I offered him nice odds, considering Ireland's front three are the strongest I've seen in years …. and little Agatha Timms has put up half shares in her eel farm on a weeklong match."
Mr. Weasley sighs even though he got a better job he still isn't very wealthy most of the extra money goes to his children to make sure they get good enough second-hand books and clothes. Everything they had saved the last year with very few winnings remaining from the Daily Prophet Grand Prize Galleon Draw as he needed knew robes as a bigger subdepartment. Amelia advised 'better' robes but the ministry couldn't pay for that. With everything, they didn't have much left.
This year was even more expansive than a normal year with the dress robes needed for the twins and Ron. Ginny may need it as it was optional but if she needed to do something he knows she will do that as she is stubborn. He couldn't let his only daughter go in an old dress robe (out of fashion) if she needs it what he knows she most probably will although he doesn't know why she needs it.
Mrs. Weasley told him she will look for robes today. She will look where most of the second-hand clothes are from. Mrs. Weasley hopes to find some dress robes for them. She will also look for Harry despite his objections.
Mr. Weasley says nervously and doubting "oh...go on then. Let's see ... a Galleon on Ireland to win?"
Ludo Bagman looks slightly disappointed as he says "a Galleon?"
He almost hopefully asks "very well, very well ... any other takers?"
Mr. Weasley says "they're a bit young to be gambling. Molly wouldn't like …"
Fred interrupts Mr. Weasley as he says "we'll bet thirty-seven Galleons, fifteen Sickles, three Knuts that Ireland wins, but Viktor Krum catch the Snitch. Oh, and we'll throw in a fake wand."
Percy almost yells in anger "you don't want to go showing Mr. Bagman rubbish like that."
Bagman, however, didn't seem to think the fake wand was rubbish at all. On the contrary, he took the wand from Fred and when he tried to cast something the wand gave a look of squawk and turned into a rubber chicken. Bagman roared with laughter so hard the whole campsite could have heard it if there weren't so many parties going on around the campsite.
Bagman says "excellent! I haven't seen one that convincing in years! I'd pay five Galleons for that!"
Percy stops and looks with stunned disapproval.
Mr. Weasley says quietly to them "Boys. I don't want you betting …. that's all you savings ….. your mother….."
Bagman interrupts Mr. Weasley and says "don't be a spoilsport, Arthur! They're old enough to know what they want! Do you reckon Ireland will win but Krum will get the Snitch? ….. Not a chance, boys, not a chance... I'll give you excellent odds on that one ... We'll add five Galleons for the funny wand, then, shall we..."
Mr. Weasley looks on helplessly as Bagman whipped out a notebook and quill and began jotting down the twins' names.
George says "cheers" before taking the slip of parchment Bagman handed him and putting it in his pocket making sure it is secure. Bagman turns most cheerfully back to Mr. Weasley.
Bagman asks "haven't a drink for me I suppose?"
When Mr. Weasley shook his head Bagman sighs before he says "well I will keep an eye out for Barty Crouch. My Bulgarian opposite is making difficulties, and I can't understand a word he's saying. Barty will be able to sort it out. He speaks about a hundred and fifty languages."
"At least I think so but even if it is less I am sure he speaks Bulgarian. Too bad it isn't like Romanian or your son could help me out like this morning as they were quite a couple of the dragon reserve and know your son and those that don't were easily stopped with Auror back up and Dementor threat. I haven't seen Barty all day, but he must be around here somewhere."
He looks at the twins and says "well boys don't forget to see me after the match to settle your debt. I can understand going for the big money. If you two win what you won't you will get 20 Galleons for every Galleon you put in and of course, you will get more because of the Sickles and Knuts. Arthur as I like you and you only put in one Galleon. If you win I will give you 7 Galleons."
Percy has returned. He heard Bagman says that Mr. Crouch can speak a hundred and fifty languages.
Percy says with a disapproving look at bagman but also with excitement "Mr. Crouch speaks over two hundred. Mermish, Gobbledegook, Troll …"
Fred interrupts Percy and asks "anyone can speak Troll? All you have to do is point and grunt like Ron."
Ron is still eating but still screams "HOI" to protest but him trying to scream his objection. When he tried to scream with his mouth full almost half fall out of his eyes which make Ginny and Hermione very nauseous.
Percy threw Fred an extremely nasty look before poking the fire with a stick and putting the kettle above it to make it boil to get some tea.
Mr. Weasley feels the tension and asks Bagman "Any news of Bertha Jorkins yet, Ludo?"
Bagman is more comfortable than everyone expected "not a sign but she'll turn up. Poor old Bertha ... memory like a leaky cauldron and no sense of direction. Lost, you take my word for it. She'll wander back into the office sometime in October, thinking it's still July."
Bagman gave a big smile and laughed.
Mr. Weasley suggests "you don't think it might be time to send someone to look for her?"
Percy gives Bagman his tea and says "Mr. Crouch keeps saying that"
Bagman says "indeed, Barty Crouch keeps saying that but we really can't spare anyone at the moment. Oh - talk of the devil! Barty! Finally there you are. I have been looking for you!"
Mr. Crouch has just apparated barely a foot beside the campfire. Crouch couldn't be more different from Bagman. Barty Crouch was a stiff, upright, elderly man, dressed in an impeccably crisp suit and tie. The parting in his short grey hair was almost unnaturally straight, and his narrow toothbrush moustache looked as though he trimmed it using a slide rule.
His shoes were very highly polished. Harry could see at once why Percy idolized him. Percy was a great believer in rigidly following rules, and Mr. Crouch had complied with the rule about Muggle dressing so thoroughly that he could have passed for a bank manager. Harry doubted even Uncle Vernon would have spotted him for what he really was, a wizard.
Bagman says "why don't you sit down Barty?"
Crouch says impatiently "no thank you, Ludo. I've been looking for you everywhere. The Bulgarians are insisting we add another twelve seats to the Top Box and four more in the Ministry Box."
Bagman says in wonder "oh is that what they're after? I thought the chap was asking to borrow a pair of tweezers. Bit of a strong accent."
Percy bows and keeps halfway in a bow when he says "Mr. Crouch! Would you like a cup of tea?"
Crouch looks at Percy with surprise and says "yes ….. thank you, Weatherby."
The twins, Bill and Charlie can barely control their laughs. Ginny can't stop quietly giggling that only Hermione and Harry can hear. Ron tries to laugh but with all the food in his mouth, he can't unless he wants to suffocate.
Crouch looks at Mr. Weasley and says with hard eyes "I've been wanting a word with you too, Arthur. Ali Bashir's on the warpath. He wants a word with you about your embargo on flying carpets."
Mr. Weasley gives a deep sigh and says "I sent him an owl about that just last week. If I've told him once I've told him a hundred times: Carpets are defined as a Muggle Artefact by the Registry of Proscribed Charmable Objects, but will he listen?"
Crouch says while accepting his tea from Percy "I doubt it. He's desperate to export here."
Bagman asks with a smile "well, they'll never replace brooms in Britain, will they?"
Crouch says "Ali thinks there's a niche in the market for a family vehicle. I remember my grandfather had an Axminster that could seat twelve, but that was before carpets were banned, of course."
Crouch spoke as though he wanted to leave nobody in any doubt that all his ancestors had abided strictly by the law.
Bagman lightly says "so, been keeping busy, Barty?"
Crouch dryly says "fairly. Organizing Portkeys across five continents is no mean feat, Ludo."
Mr. Weasley can understand his department was also having a hard time making sure muggle artefacts weren't smuggled into England and make sure the muggle campsite managers weren't hexed, cursed or worse.
Mr. Weasley asks "I expect you'll both be glad when this is over? I know I am and most of my subdepartment agree."
Bagman looks shocked and asks "glad!? Don't know when I've had more fun... Still, it's not as though we haven't got anything to look forward to, eh, Barty? Eh? Plenty left to organize, eh?"
Crouch raises his eyebrows and looks toward Bagman as he says "we've agreed to not announce all the details….."
Bagman interrupts Crouch by saying "oh details!" waving the word away like he tried to slap flies away.
Bagman continues "they've signed, haven't they? They've agreed, haven't they? I bet you anything these kids will know soon enough anyway. I mean, it's happening at Hogwarts….."
Crouch sharply cuts Bagman off and says "Ludo, we need to meet the Bulgarians, you know. Thank you for the tea, Weatherby."
Crouch pushed the undrunk tea back in Percy's hands while waiting impatiently for Bagman to stand up. Bagman drinks the last of his tea and put the cup on the ground before standing up with one hand in his pocket flipping the gold that makes the same sound as before.
Bagman says "see you all later after the match! You'll be up in the Top Box that are the best seats beside the Ministry Box where I'm commentating!"
Crouch nodded curtly while Bagman gave a small wave before both of them apparate out.
Fred asks "what's happening at Hogwarts, Dad? What were they talking about?"
Mr. Weasley gives a big smile and says "you will find out soon enough. I don't know everything but I know what is going to happen and heard some rumours patriating to it. Even though you will know soon you don't have to concern yourselves with it."
Percy added "it's classified information until the Ministry decides to release it. Mr. Crouch was quite right not to disclose it."
George says while rolling his eyes "oh shut up, Weatherby."
It is dusk and everybody feels the sense of excitement increase all over the campsite. Even though muggles are the site managers the Ministry obviously stopped hiding the magic. Many people were flying on a broom that was just barely able to hide from the muggles. Now the ministry didn't try to hide anything as all over the campsites unconcealed magic is used.
Harry feels for the muggles as they were probably scared at what they saw and will be obliviated many times before every witch and wizard is gone.
Many witches and wizards walk with boxes, pushing carts with boxes or levitating them to the tree line before they wave their wands and many stalls were built up in less than a minute.
Mr. Weasley says "it seems the match will start in a little bit."
Harry and Hermione look a bit confused. Mr. Weasley says to explain "the stalls here is what I said Bill to tell you. These stalls and some stalls along the paths in the woods are mostly some merchandise and some things for like the match like food and drinks if we suspect a long match and also other merchandise that represent the country."
Harry and Hermione nod. Mr. Weasley smiles and says "we better eat up as the stalls are pretty expensive if you want to buy food for during the match. If you want we can look at some stalls if you still have some money left."
Harry still had a lot left as does Hermione as Harry didn't want the money she used back. He never told anyone but Sirius sent him a bag with many Galleons as spending money at the Quidditch World Cup. He got the bag in his backpack with him but is very hesitant to use it. His backpack with Sirius' bag of Galleons is in the bedroom he shares with Ron just like at the Burrow in the tent.
The Weasleys, Hermione and Harry all look at the stalls and see luminous rosettes in green for Ireland, red for Bulgaria and which were squealing the names of the players. There are also pointed green hats bedecked with dancing shamrocks, Bulgarian scarves adorned with lions that really roared, flags from both countries that played their national anthems as they were waved.
What surprised Harry is that there are tiny models of Firebolts that really flew. Hermione is surprised to see the ability to get collectable figures of famous players which she finds very muggle. The figures can stroll across the palm of your hand which makes it magical.
Mr. Weasley says "Ginny, Ron here is the pocket money you asked me to keep until now."
Actually Ginny asked her father that so she wouldn't spend too much before the best stalls came. Ron didn't want that but eventually reluctantly and madly agreed or he wouldn't get money at all as he got like Ginny before dinner. Ron did manage to get half of the money Mr. Weasley saved for him against his better judgement. Mr. Weasley didn't want to let Hermione and Harry think that Ginny is the only smart one of the two especially since he knows how short Ron's fuse is. He still loves Ron as his son but as a parent, he can't overlook his own son's flaws as Mrs. Weasley does. Sure she gets mad at them at times if they did something bad but she would never admit if she sees it if their children have flaws.
After everyone (but Ron) has had enough Mr. Weasley uses Aguamenti to put out the fire. When most look at him he says simple "everyone is using magic. Tomorrow morning we put out the fire after breakfast the muggle way Hermione and Harry can help me?"
Hermione and Harry simply nod which makes Mr. Weasley smile.
Harry says "I just need to grab something. Could you wait a minute?"
Before anyone can say anything Ginny says "sure Harry" before saying in a voice that there was no discussion possible "we will wait."
When Harry returns with a small bag as one group they walk to the new stalls to buy (more) souvenirs. As soon as they arrive Percy says he needs to go to the stadium and find Mr. Crouch. Ron walks to the closet stall and immediately purchases a dancing shamrock hat, and a large green rosette and he also bought a small figure of Viktor Krum, the Bulgarian Seeker.
Harry asks "Ron I thought you are for Bulgaria?"
Ron says "I am but Ireland does have a good keeper and I want something from both countries. That way I always choose the team that wins and I will remember this until the day I die. There is a small change this will happen in England again. Therefore I buy something from both countries as a reminder, but don't you worry I am still a big fan of Krum and Bulgaria."
The miniature Krum walks backwards and forward over Ron's hand, scowling up at the green rosette above him even trying to jump to get it.
Harry's attention gets drawn to a stall with one cart to the side piled even higher than the stall.
Harry says "WOW, look at these!"
Harry's almost shout has also drawn the attention of the other Weasleys (and Hermione who stands beside him).
Harry looks at brass binoculars except that they were covered with all sorts of weird knobs and dials.
The wizard at the stall says "these are Omnioculars. You can replay action, slow everything down, and they flash up a play-by-play breakdown if you need it. It is also a bargain because of the finales, ten Galleons each."
Ron's face immediately fell and says to no one in particular "I wish I hadn't bought this now" holding the dancing shamrock hat while gazing longingly at the Omnioculars.
Harry sees also Ginny's longing face while she bought a shirt with the whole of Ireland's team. Harry guess with the reserve as there are almost two full teams on it. She also holds a picture of Ireland and a book about previous Quidditch World Cup finals and she is not the only one Charlie also has the same book. The Twins look down as they have obviously put all their money in the bet with Ludo Bagman. Hermione had bought a scarf in Ireland colours and was looking around.
When she sees Harry looking she says "my parents asked for something but I don't have enough for the Omnioculars after buying this scarf and I bought a shirt when you were looking at other stalls this afternoon."
Harry simply nods and says firmly to the wizards "eight pairs."
All the Weasleys look shocked. Hermione whispers "how can you pay that Harry? You said you only had a few galleons left when we went back to the tent."
While the wizard grabs the Omnioculars Harry whisper back "Sirius send me a bag with Galleons to have spending money here. I didn't want to use it but I grabbed it for the change I really wanted something. Also, this is the least I can do for the Weasley's taking you and me with them today for the finale of the Quidditch World Cup."
Ron turns red after coming back from the shock and says "no …. don't bother,"
Harry knows he is getting red as Ron is always touchy about the fact that Harry, who had inherited a small fortune from his parents, had much more money than he did although Ron doesn't know he got this from Sirius. It was 150 Galleons Sirius wrote he wanted to send more but for a larger withdrawal, he needed to be present unless he bought something more expensive than 150 Galleons and he uses the lord ring or signed it then it could be paid directly out of the chosen vault to belongs to you (or your House).
Harry says "don't worry won't be getting anything for Christmas. That includes for all of you for about ten years, mind."
Harry grabs the first two and pushes them 'gently' into Ron and Hermione's hands. Ron greedy grabs it and says "fair enough."
Hermione wants to kiss Harry as she has seen one or two things she likes as there was a book about the history of Quidditch not only about the previews finale of the Quidditch World cup and now has more than enough money to buy them including some things for her parents like the book and things.
She can barely control herself and says "oooh, thanks, Harry. I'll get us some programs."
Harry knows Ginny is also not happy with charity as they call it and he says "Ginny see it as a gift for your Birthday and yes you can keep the shirt."
The next one Harry gives to Ginny who gives him a thousand dollar smile. Harry sees that Ginny wants to do something. She hugs him and thinks that is it but then she kisses him on his cheek. He still sees something in Ginny's eyes but before he can find out what she says "thank you so much, Harry. I love it, with this, you certainly give me great birthday presents."
Mr. Weasley thanks him but says he can't accept it Harry "don't worry Mr. Weasley it is my present for thinking about Hermione and me and even more for taking us with you."
Mr. Weasley says "it was no problem. I still can't take it."
Harry says "please Mr. Weasley I insist. See it that I show my appreciation for it by giving you this."
Mr. Weasley says "alright if you insist. I can at least show Molly if she wants to see it. I just need to make sure she doesn't remove it for something else."
The wizard says "you can record up to three things depending on how long the recordings are."
Harry gives the next two to Charlie and Bill. They also want to decline but Harry whisper "see it as a thank you for all the gifts. I said before I don't deserve them to see this as a gift for giving me gifts on my Birthday."
Before either can respond he grabs his own and the two for the twins. When he gives two to the twins.
George asks in disbelief "really? thanks, Harry."
Fred says "yeah really thank you. We used all…"
George continues "our money with the bet…."
Together they say "with Bagman."
Fred says "luckily we bought a hat….."
George says "and a scarf or was it you Forge?"
Fred says "no I am Gred."
George says "how can you be Gred if I am the good looking one that is Gred."
Fred says "you mean I am.
Harry smiles obviously they forget they were the knitted sweater Mrs. Weasley made with their first letter. Ginny giggles while Hermione groans. Mr. Weasley can only smile while Bill and Charlie try to not laugh. Ron is almost salivating over the Omniocular.
Fred and George say "we will pay you back Harry."
Before Harry can respond Hermione and Ginny drag him to another stall so that Harry cannot respond.
Eventually Bill, Charlie, and Ginny were all sporting green rosettes with a dancing shamrock on them. Ginny's Ireland top hat is also the hat she bought earlier and Hermione had an Ireland scarf. Mr. Weasley was carrying an Irish flag and chose the same hat Ginny wore but has a small Bulgaria bowler hat. Ron also bought a bowler hat in Bulgaria colours. He ran back to the tent to put the dancing shamrock hat in his backpack. Fred and George had no other souvenirs as they had given Bagman all their gold.
They went back to put their souvenirs away except for what they could wear to the game. Hermione had kind of the same shirt Harry bought Ginny but instead of red in green colour. Hermione bought it in green as it reminded her of Harry's eyes. Fred and George painted their face in Ireland colour with both an Ireland top hat and scarf. Harry bought the same book Ginny and Charlie bought and wears the Ireland top hat and Bulgaria scarf he bought earlier just like Hermione. Ginny waited for a reason to buy any team merchandise as now she has more choice and the price is a bit lower.
A deep, booming gong sounded somewhere beyond the woods, and at once, green and red lanterns blazed into life in the trees, lighting a path to the field.
Mr. Weasley looks excited and says "it's time! Come on, let's go!"
They all follow him on one of the lightened paths through the woods. They see the stadium again but it looks way better with the lighting now. One half is in Bulgaria's colours and flag while the other half is in Ireland's colours and flag. At least Harry thinks so as he can only see a small side of the huge stadium, but he sees the Bulgaria colours and Ireland colours on the small side.
Mr Weasley says "it has a place for a hundred thousand."
All look surprised and Harry and Hermione say at the same time "wow."
Mr. Weasley smiles at their amazed look. While they continue walking to one of the nearest entrances he fondly says "Ministry task force of five hundred has been working on it all year. Muggle Repelling Charms on every inch of it. Every time Muggles have got anywhere near here all year, they've suddenly remembered urgent appointments and had to dash away again ... bless them. For the more advanced wards, Bill was hired to work and lead a group of the ministry right?"
Bill sighs and says "oh please. They barely knew the right end of their wand and in almost every ward I placed they thought they knew better or didn't even know which one I used. Sometimes even both. Half of the time I was teaching them to place the wards. If the pay wasn't that good, I was the only one able, I was ordered by the Goblin's my bosses and we all weren't going I would have quit in the first 15 minutes on the first day if not sooner."
25th August 1994, Stadium, Quidditch World Cup
The entrance they walk to is already swarmed by many witches and wizards it takes almost half an hour when they reach the entrance. It seems the ministry witch knows Arthur as she smiles at him and says "woah Prime seats! Top Box! Straight upstairs, Arthur, and as high as you can go."
Mr. Weasley replies "thank you, Laura."
Immediately after Mr. Weasley walks past her. Hermione and Harry at the back see the face of the witch got a scold and frown on her face to check the next tickets after they pass her. They hear her say "next" as they follow the Weasley's up the stairs.
As they walk past the Ministry box Ron asks "blimey Dad, how far up are we?"
Just at that moment Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy and a rather beautiful woman are walking below them right before entering the ministry box.
Lucius gives a smug smile and says "well put it this way, if it rains... you'll be the first to know. But I must say good lord, Arthur. What did you have to sell to get seats in the Top Box? Surely your house wouldn't have fetched this much?"
Draco with even a bigger smug smile if possible says "father, mother and I are in the minister's box, by personal invitation of Cornelius Fudge himself."
Lucius put his hand on Draco's shoulder and says " don't boast Draco. There's no need for with these people. Do enjoy yourself won't you. While you can."
Harry wants to say something but Hermione pushes him up the stairs past Ron and the twins. At the same time, Ginny grabs his wrist to pull him up.
Draco's mother Narcissa Malfoy née Black sees Harry Potter and almost wants to rush to him and beg him to free her or her pompous husband and even worse son. If he is Heir Black what she suspects if Sirius went to Gringotts and choose his own heir then he can talk to Sirius no doubt and if Sirius signs it and fill it with Gringotts Harry as Heir Black can do it at the ministry. There needs to be a valid reason and no surprise there, there is at least one. While the Blacks are a dark family they still respect the wizarding world (, the ministry) and Hogwarts. Voldemort was the one who tries to take control as a terrorist which was one reason to dissolve the marriage and get back the dowry including interest if not paid or unable to pay everything including the Malfoy seat and marriage contracts will be forfeited to House Black. Bellatrix has the same.
It took another 5 minutes before they reach the top box. When they look over the field they see that they are (a couple of feet) above the highest goal post but could see both as they sit on the long side of the pitch. Harry knows they sit around the same height he has when he searches for the snitch during the Gryffindor games.
Mr. Weasley says "come on up, take your seats. I told you these seats would be worth waiting for."
George says "come on!" to hurry the others up.
Mr. Weasley sits in the first seat followed by Bill, Charlie and Ron. After Ron are the twins, Ginny, Harry and finally Hermione.
Ludo Bagman's voice is suddenly heard and says "good evening! It gives me great pleasure to welcome each and every one of you to the final of the 422nd Quidditch World Cup."
On the other side of the Weasley's, Hermione and Harry is a scoreboard that was first promoting "Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans - A Risk With Every Mouthful!" and now it is the scoreboard with BULGARIA- IRELAND: 0-0.
Bagman continues "now, without further ado, allow me to introduce. . . the Bulgarian National Team Mascots!"
Mr. Weasley says "I wonder what they've brought" while leaning forward in his seat.
Direct across from the Weasleys, Hermione and Harry on the pitch is an entrance to the pitch.
He only says "Aaah! Veela's."
Mr. Weasley immediately whips his glasses off and put them in his robe.
Harry asks "what are veel -?"
Harry's question is answered for him like a hundred Veela's from the entrance on the pitch are almost look like they are gliding out onto the field. The Veela's are women, the most beautiful women Harry has ever seen. except that they weren't ….. they couldn't be …. human. This puzzles Harry for a moment while he tried to guess what exactly they could be? what could make their skin shine moon-bright like that, or their white-gold hair fan out behind them without wind.. . but then the music starts, and Harry stops worrying about them not being human …. in fact, he stops worrying about anything at all.
The Veela's start to dance, and Harry's mind is gone completely and blissfully blank. All that matters in the world is that he keeps watching the Veela because if they stop dancing, terrible things will happen. And as the Veela's danced faster and faster, wild, half-formed thoughts started chasing through Harry's dazed mind. He wants to do something very impressive, right now. Jumping from the box into the stadium seems a good idea. . . but would it be good enough?
Harry hears Hermione's voice clearly above the music as she asks "Harry, what are you doing?"
Then he also hears Ginny's voice clearly above the music as she asks "Harry?"
Harry stops hearing the music and in his mind, which was blank before now had two people he can see above all else including the Veela and the music. The two people he can see while everything else in his mind is blank the two people are not. It is Hermione and Ginny.
Harry looks at Hermione and says "sorry I didn't know what came over me. I am fine Ginny I was just surprised."
Harry looks back at the Veela's who are still dancing. He starts to hear the music again and sees Veela dancing. Instead of his mind going blank again he does feel a pull and everything but he can resist it easily as slowly his mind loses his blankness and dazed state. Everything thought comes back but Hermione and Ginny stay in his mind above all else.
Harry looks at the others and sees that Mr. Weasley is focusing without his glasses. Bill is sweating but not acting differently he only has his hand on Charlie's shoulder while Charlie is pinning Ron to the ground although one of Ron's legs is already over the side. The twins hold onto each other. He hasn't noticed before but Hermione and Ginny are both holding his hand. Hermione holds his right hand while Ginny holds his left hand.
It took almost five more minutes before the music stopped. Angry yells were filling the stadium. The crowd didn't want the Veela to stop dancing. Harry was with them he will, of course, be supporting Bulgaria, and he wonders vaguely why he had a large green shamrock pinned to his chest.
Harry suddenly thinks 'no, no, no I am not for Bulgaria although I wonder about Krum. No, I have no favourite and if I have it will be Ireland. I support Ireland.'
The Veela's has now lined up along one side of the field next to the entrance they have used. Hermione made a loud tutting noise. She pulls Harry back into his seat by his hand while Ginny does the same with his other hand.
Hermione says "honestly!" while rolling her eyes.
Harry looks ashamed and says "sorry."
Hermione's face softened and says "I am not blaming you, Harry. I think the Veela's did something but I wonder what. Certainly, as I got suddenly very angry at them."
Ginny agrees wholeheartedly.
Bagman says " And now kindly look to the air for the Irish National Team Mascots!"
The next moment, what seems to be a great green-and-gold comet comes zooming into the stadium. It does one circuit of the stadium, then splits into two smaller comets, each hurtling toward the goalposts and going through the middle goal. A rainbow arc suddenly appears across the field, connecting the two balls of light.
The crowd ooooohed and aaaaahed, as though at a fireworks display. Now the rainbow fades and the balls of light reunite and merge. They have formed a great shimmering shamrock, which rose into the sky and began to soar over the stands. Something like golden rain seems to be falling from it.
Ron yells "excellent!" as the shamrock soared over them, and heavy gold coins rain from it, bouncing off their heads and seats.
Harry looks up at the shamrock and when he looks closely he realizes that it was actually comprised of thousands of tiny little bearded men with red vests, each carrying a minute lamp of gold or green.
Mr. Weasley yells "leprechauns!" over the tumultuous applause of the crowd,
Many spectators are fighting and rummaging around under their chairs to retrieve the gold the leprechauns dropped over the bleachers.
Ron is also grabbing around trying to get as much gold as possible. He managed to get 12 Galleons.
Ron says "here you go Harry …. for the Omnioculars! Now you've got to buy me a Christmas present, ha! Keep the two extra Galleons as you lend me the money for food and bought the Omnioculars."
The great shamrock dissolves, and the leprechauns drift down onto the field on the opposite side from the Veela and settle themselves cross-legged to watch the match.
Bagman yells " And now, please greet - the Irish National Quidditch Team. Presenting Connolly! Ryan! Troy! Mullet! Moran! Quigley! Aaaaaand -Lynch!"
Five green and white figures fly through the air on their brooms leaving a coloured trail behind them. A glittering leprechaun appears in the sky and starts dancing. Everyone is excited.
The leprechaun burst apart in red sparks. Five red figures had flown through the leprechaun. One of them performs a stunt on his broom. One of them appears on one large screen held by half the stadium which made the huge figure fly around half the stadium. They immediately see who is it is. It is the grumpy seeker of Bulgaria, Viktor Krum.
Bagman again yelled even though his voice was enhanced by Sonorus "And now, ladies and gentlemen, kindly welcome - the Bulgarian National Quidditch Team! I give you Dimitrov, Ivanova, Zograf, Levski, Vulchanov, Volkov, Aaaaaaand lastly but certainly not the least ….. Viktor Krum!"
Ron yells almost like a fangirl "that's him, that's him!" following Krum with his Omnioculars like most women do (but not Ginny and Hermione along with some other girls although they don't know that).
The crowd begins to chant 'Krum, Krum, Krum'.
Ron screams "KRUM!"
While the other Weasleys beside Mr. Weasley and Ginny say "Krum!"
Ginny says casual, careless and almost annoyed "yes, it is him!"
Viktor Krum waves to the crowd.
Harry had used his Omnioculars to see the Irish. Harry spun a small dial on the side of his Omnioculars and slowed the players down enough to read the word "Firebolt" on each of their brooms and see their names, embroidered in silver, upon their backs.
Bagman says "Let the match begin!"
Bagman yells again "And here, all the way from Egypt, our referee, acclaimed Chairwizard of the International Association of Quidditch, Hassan Mostafa!"
A small and skinny wizard, completely bald but with a moustache to rival Uncle Vernon's, wearing robes of pure gold to match the stadium, strode out onto the field. A silver whistle was protruding from under the moustache, and he was carrying a large wooden crate under one arm, his broomstick under the other.
Harry knows that wooden crate well. Wood had one with him seen when became a seeker in his first year and had seen one every match after then as it contains the Quaffle, the Bludgers and the most important one, the Golden Snitch.
Harry looks at the crate. Mostafa mounts his broomstick and kicks the crate open. Just like Harry knows all four balls went into the air although the Quaffle went to Mostafa's hand.
Harry sees the Golden Snitch for a moment before it speeds out of sight. The Captain's land shake hands before taking their position on the field. Mostafa makes sure every player is ready. When he gets the sign he gives a sharp blast on his whistle and he throws the Quaffle up. Mostafa immediately shot into the air when the Quaffle got into the hands of a player. Ireland was the first to grab the ball and Harry is recording all of it.
Bagman screams "and theeeeeeeey're OFF! It's Mullet! Troy! Moran! Dimitrov! Back to Mullet! Troy! Levski! Moran!"
It was Quidditch as Harry had never seen it played before. He was pressing his Omnioculars so hard to his glasses that they were cutting into the bridge of his nose. The speed of the players was incredible - the Chasers were throwing the Quaffle to one another so fast that Bagman only had time to say their names.
Harry spun the slow dial on the right of his Omnioculars again, pressed the play-by-play button on the top, and he was immediately watching in slow motion while glittering purple lettering flashed across the lenses and the noise of the crowd pounded against his eardrums.
Hawkshead Attacking Formation, he read as he watched the three Irish Chasers zoom closely together, Troy in the centre, slightly ahead of Mullet and Moran, bearing down upon the Bulgarians.
Porskoff Ploy flashed up next, as Troy made as though to dart upward with the Quaffle, drawing away from the Bulgarian Chaser Ivanova and dropping the Quaffle to Moran. One of the Bulgarian Beaters, Volkov, swings hard at a passing Bludger with his small club, knocking it into Moran's path; Moran ducked to avoid the Bludger and drops the Quaffle. Levski, soaring beneath, caught it.
Bagman screams "TROY SCORES for Ireland!"
The stadium shuddered with a roar of applause and cheers.
Bagman says with excitement "Ten zero to Ireland!"
Harry thinks Bagman is more excited as he just won one of his bets.
Harry yells "what?" But Levski's got the Quaffle!"
Hermione shouts "Harry, if you're not going to watch at normal speed, you're going to miss things!"
Harry looks at Hermione and gives her his signature smile. Hermione blushes. Hermione tries to focus on the match. Hermione is jumping up and down in what almost looks like dancing while she also is swinging her arms in the air while Troy did a lap of honour around the field.
Harry looked quickly over the top of his Omnioculars and saw that the leprechauns were watching from the sidelines. The leprechauns have a couple of large shamrocks they were now proudly showing. The shamrocks were large and glittering. If the match wasn't this good and with the Veela's who were sulking across the field watching the leprechauns you couldn't take your eyes off the shamrocks.
Harry is furious with himself. He speeds up the Omnioculars until it is normal speed and he can follow the game with Bagman commentating. He is happy that he was able to still record the previews game even though he had it on slow speed although it wasn't very good recorded but good enough to see who was doing what.
Harry knows enough about Quidditch to see that the Irish Chasers were superb. They worked as a seamless team, their movements so well coordinated that they appeared to be reading one another's minds as they positioned themselves even better than Katie, Angelina and Alicia and he thought they were superb before.
Harry has a rosette but left it in the tent and he is happy he did as Ginny's rosette on her chest kept squeaking their names "Troy - Mullet - Moran!" when they have the Quaffle and sometimes says the beaters name if they hit a Bludger.
Within ten minutes, Ireland had scored twice more, bringing their lead to thirty-zero and causing a thunderous tide of roars and applause from the green-clad supporters.
The match becomes even faster and certainly more brutal. Volkov and Vulchanov, the Bulgarian Beaters, were whacking the Bludgers as fiercely as possible at the Irish Chasers. The Bludgers are starting to prevent the Irish Chasers from using some of their best moves. Twice the Irish chasers were forced to scatter, and then, finally, Ivanova manages to break through their ranks. She dodges the Keeper, Ryan and scores Bulgaria's first goal.
Mr. Weasley immediately shouts "Fingers in your ears!"
Almost on cue the Veela's started to dance in celebration. Harry feels the pull but unlike the first time, his mind doesn't go blank and can easily resist the pull but can't deny that the Veela are beautiful although there aren't the only beautiful girls around him.
He sees Ginny and Hermione. They look at him to see if he gets enthralled again. He looks at them first Ginny then Hermione and gives them both a smile that makes them blush.
He thinks 'Hermione and Ginny are both beautiful. Unfortunately, they only see me as friends. No, Potter doesn't think like that they are friends you can't get other feelings than sisterly feelings for them.'
Harry sees Ron wanting to jump down but gets stopped by both Charlie and Bill. A few seconds later Ron stops revisiting and when he looks at the Veela he sees that they had stopped dancing.
Bulgaria was again in possession of the Quaffle.
Bagman is providing commentary "Dimitrov! Levski! Dimitrov! Ivanova - oh I say!"
Everyone sees the two Seekers, Krum and Lynch breaking up the formation of the Bulgaria chasers which gave the Irish the chance to get the Quaffle again. However, everyone is watching the seekers.
They were rushing to the ground. They went so fast it looks as though they had just jumped from aeroplanes without parachutes.
Harry follows their descent through his Omnioculars to see the Snitch even squinting his eyes to find it but he can't.
Hermione says "they are going for the snitch."
Harry instinctively says "no their not, the snitch is not where they are heading. At least I don't see the snitch."
Hermione knows that Harry is a wonderful seeker and if he doesn't see it the snitch isn't there. Ginny knows the same.
Hermione screams "then they're going to crash!"
Ron says "no their not. Harry probably doesn't see the snitch as it is faster than the snitch that is used at Hogwarts.
Hermione and Ginny want to scream when the seekers were nearing the ground. It seems Hermione is half right as at the very last second Krum pulls up out of the dive and managed to not hit the ground. Lynch the Irish seeker had less luck. He hits the ground with a dull thud that is heard throughout the stadium followed by a huge groan from the Irish fans.
Mr. Weasley says under his breath "fool. Krum was feinting."
Bagman announces "the Irish call a time out as trained mediwizards hurry onto the field to examine Aidan Lynch!"
Charlie sees that Ginny is a bit worried and looks shocking and horror-struck at Aidan Lynch who still lies at the same place where he crashed. He says "he'll be okay, he only got ploughed! Which is what Krum was after, of course..."
He wants to get past Ron to hug her and calm her down if needed, but before he even has a chance to get past Ron Ginny glued herself to Harry's arm and seems content if not happy. Charlie got a big smile as he sees that Ginny loves Harry so much but Harry seems oblivious. He knows he needs to tell Bill after the match and after the party, they were invited to.
Harry with his loose arm looks in his Omniucular and presses the replay and play-by-play button. He reduces the speed and looks in the Omnicular as he sees Krum and Lynch at a slower speed going straight for the ground. Just as Krum pulls up words appear. The words read Wronski Defensive Feint - Dangerous Seeker Diversion.
He says to no one "so that is Wronski Feint."
Hermione asks "did Krum do the Wronski Feint?"
Harry looks surprised and says "yes. Do you know what it is?"
Hermione has read about the Wronski feint when she learned the rules to talk with Harry. As the book she had wasn't very clear she looked it up and found a book where it was more explained although it wasn't much.
Hermione gets into lecture mode and says "The Wronski Feint, also known as the Wronski Defensive Feint, is a tactic in Quidditch where a Seeker would pretend to spot the Golden Snitch far below and race to catch it, hoping the opposing seeker would copy. At the last second before reaching the ground, the feinting seeker would pull out of a dive, usually causing the opposing seeker to crash. Classified as a Dangerous Action and also called a Dangerous Seeker Diversion but isn't against the rules. The Wronski Feint was invented by Polish Seeker Josef Wronski and can only be used by the best seekers. It isn't uncommon to be frequently used during the more important matches even more than once during the match. It also isn't uncommon that the one that uses the Wronski Feint also gets hurt doing the move successful or not baiting the other seeker."
Harry says "so that is what Wood meant."
Hermione and Ginny look at him and questioned with their eyes what he meant.
Harry says "last year when I still had my nimbus 2000 Wood thought about using that move on Malfoy as he has a faster broom but use me to find the snitch just like Lynch does. He tried to explain but he never made it clear. When I wanted to ask you Hermione if you may know about the Quidditch moves book in the library the news came we will play against Hufflepuff instead of Slytherin. Wood and I both thought Cedric will not use me like Draco and he didn't have a faster broom that is true. The brooms need to be equally fast or the seeker that falls for it needs to have a faster broom than Cedric didn't have."
"When we finally played against Slytherin I had my Firebolt and it wouldn't work on Malfoy. Now I look back on it, it may do as he still followed me. If I just didn't use the full speed of the Firebolt I could still have baited Malfoy. Maybe I can use it this year?"
Ginny grabs Harry's arm tighter afraid that Harry gets hurt even if he is the best seeker she knows and maybe even better than 'the world famous' Krum.
Hermione says "Harry please don't it can be really dangerous."
Harry gave her his signature smile that makes her blush but she also noticed that that smile only make her fears go away but also make her arguments weak against Harry that he can always convince her.
Harry says "don't worry. I don't need to go as low as Krum does. Malfoy has no talent as soon as he sees me pull up while he is at full speed he will be too scared to stop himself from hitting the ground actually like last time although he got hit by a Bludger and not me baiting him."
Hermione and Ginny say nothing. Harry looks at the replay in his Omniocular while the mediwizards are working on Lynch. He sees Krum's face was contorted with concentration as he pulled out of the dive just in time, while Lynch was flattened. Harry must admit he had never seen anyone fly like that. Krum hardly looked as though he was using a broomstick at all; he moved so easily through the air that he looked unsupported and weightless.
Harry turns his Omniocular back to normal speed and the present time. He uses it to look at Krum. He is now circling high above Lynch, who is being revived by mediwizards with cups of potion. Harry, focusing still more closely upon Krum's face, sees his dark eyes darting all over the ground a hundred feet below. He is using the time while Lynch is being revived to look for the Snitch without interference.
Lynch gets to his feet at last. Loud cheers from the green-clad supporters as he mounted his Firebolt, and kicked back off into the air. His revival seems to give Ireland a new heart. When Mostafa blew his whistle again, the Chasers moved into action with a skill unrivalled by anything Harry had seen so far even the Gryffindor chasers.
After fifteen fast and furious minutes, Ireland has pulled ahead by ten more goals. They were now leading by one hundred and thirty points to ten, and the game was starting to get dirtier with many more almost fouls.
As Mullet shot toward the goalposts yet again, clutching the Quaffle tightly under her arm, the Bulgarian Keeper, Zograf, flew out to meet her. Whatever happened, happened so quickly Harry didn't catch it, but a scream of rage from the Irish crowd, and Mostafa's long, shrill whistle blast, tell him it has been foul play.
Bagman says " Mostafa takes the Bulgarian Keeper to task for cobbing. That foul is the excessive use of elbows! And ….. yes, it's a penalty for Ireland!"
The leprechauns were angry when Mullet had been fouled. They had flown a few feet in the air but when Mostafa whistled and gave the penalty the leprechauns formed the words HA, HA, HA.
The Veela's on the other side of the field leap to their feet to counter the leprechauns. The Veela's start to dance again.
All the Weasley unless Ginny and Ron stuff their fingers in their ears. Ginny didn't need to as the anger she felt the first time she doesn't feel any more as long as Harry is close especially while she holds onto Harry. Hermione grabs Harry's other arm as it also helps her not become angry. They didn't think that it prevented Harry from stuffing his fingers into his ear.
Ron wants to jump over the side again but before Ron can he gets stopped by the twins. They tackle him and sit on him as they don't want to remove their fingers. Even though Harry doesn't have his fingers in his ears and Hermione and Ginny hold onto him Harry only feels the pull again but can easily resist it like before.
When the Veela's continues dancing Hermione and Ginny grab onto Harry's even harder. Harry feels the pull increase but doesn't become enthralled what Ron obviously is as are other men.
Almost a minute later he hears Hermione giggle. It is one of the most beautiful sounds he has ever heard.
She giggles again. She had both arms around Harry's arm. She pulled one arm back before she points to Mostafa.
She says "look at the referee!" before she giggles again.
Harry and Ginny look down at the field and sees Mostafa has landed in front of the dancing Veela and is acting very oddly. He is flexing his muscles and smoothing his moustache excitedly.
Harry says "he is the same as Ron."
Ginny glances at Ron and agrees although she says "maybe but the referee is a bit more respectable and not drooling like Ron."
Bagman sounds highly amused as he says "now, we can't have that! Somebody, please slap the referee!"
One of the trained mediwizards run over the field with his own fingers stuffed into his own ear and kicked Mostafa hard at both shins. The second kick seems to have Mostafa returned to the present.
Harry watch through the Omniocular and sees that Mostafa looks exceptionally embarrassed and starts shouting at the Veela. The Veela stops dancing and are looking mutinous with clear anger. Harry sees that the Veela's have suddenly yellow eyes that they didn't have before.
Bagman says "unless I'm much mistaken, Mostafa is actually attempting to send off the Bulgarian team mascots! Now there's something we haven't seen before. . . . Oh this could turn nasty. . ."
Everyone sees the Bulgarian Beaters, Volkov and Vulchanov, land on either side of Mostafa and began arguing furiously with him. They were gesturing towards the leprechauns, who had now gleefully formed the words "HEE, HEE, HEE" while floating a few feet above the ground.
Both beaters are almost a foot taller than Mostafa and also twice as wide with strong arms where you can easily see the 'impressive' muscles. Mostafa is not impressed or intimidated by the Bulgarian beaters or their arguments. He points with his finger clearly telling them to get flying again. Obviously, the beaters refuse.
Mostafa blows his whistle twice including making a gesture with his hand.
Bagman obviously knows what it is he says "two penalties for Ireland! And Volkov and Vulchanov had better get back on their brooms… yes …..there they go. . . and Troy takes the Quaffle."
The Bulgarian crowd howled in anger and rage, especially as Troy scores both. The match turns into a brutal match. The beaters from both sides are acting without mercy. Volkov and Vulchanov in particular seemed not to care whether their clubs made contact with Bludger or human as they swung them violently through the air.
One of the chasers of Bulgarian Dimitrov shoots straight at Moran. She has the Quaffle and Dimitrov nearly knocks her off her broom.
All the Irish supporters stand as one great wave of green and shout as one man "foul!"
Bagman commentate saying "a foul by Dimitrov! Dimitrov skins Moran – deliberately flying to collide there and it's got to be another penalty ….. yes, there's the whistle!"
The leprechauns have risen into the air again, and this time, they form a giant hand, which is making a very rude sign indeed at the Veela's across the field. At this, the Veela lose control. Instead of dancing, they launch themselves across the field and began throwing what seemed to be handfuls of fire at the leprechauns.
Watching through his Omnioculars, Harry saw that they didn't look remotely human or beautiful now. On the contrary, their faces are elongating into sharp, cruelbeaked bird heads, and long, scaly wings are bursting from their shoulders.
Mr. Weasley wants to yell so the others can hear him although he mostly means the boys as Ginny and Hermione already see in love with Harry, the only boy he finds good enough for his little girl although he would never push them together they seem to like each other although Harry doesn't see it at least Mr. Weasley thinks so. As Hermione also seems to like Harry he hopes that Ginny and Hermione aren't going to fight each other for Harry's love and affection. Mr. Weasley is almost as shocked as he knows the special rules and law that is in favour of Harry in this case. As the last one of his line of a most ancient and most noble house, he can have more wives to increase the chance of getting a male heir and prevent the house from dying out. He could have even more if Ginny was the only child he had as she then needed to continue House Weasley as Heiress Weasley but fortunately, she isn't as then she would be a second wife at best although Harry will certainly treat her no different.
Mr. Weasley immediately stops thinking of the sound that is made. He yells want he wanted before the thought "and that, boys, is why you should never go for looks alone! However, this doesn't mean that Veela's are creatures or evil creatures. Most of the time they are just beautiful humans. You can see them like Professor Lupin. He is a werewolf but only one night in the month besides that a very nice person. Veela's are the same and only turn into this when they have strong negative emotions I think. I don't and you to think bad of Veela because of this."
All the boys nod while they look at Mr. Weasley. Ginny and Hermione look at the pitch. Although Harry sees the sign that Ron doesn't agree or at least didn't hear his father and only nods because the others do.
Harry immediately shakes his head and thinks 'they may look like a bird now but that is a part of them. I can accept that but I doubt many others can. They may not look human now but they are still Veela's and it looks like they only turn into that if they are angry. I can hardly think different of them because they are angry. I mean I blew up my Aunt Marge when she made me angry.'
Harry feels the pull in his arms and looks at the pitch. Many ministry wizards were flooding onto the field to separate the Veela's and the leprechauns, but with little success.
Meanwhile, the pitched battle below is nothing to the one taking place above. Harry turns this way and sees through his Omnioculars, that the Quaffle changes hands with the speed of a bullet.
Bagman ignores the fight between the mascots and continues commentating "Levski. Dimitrov. Moran. Troy. Mullet. Ivanova. Moran again, Moran …. MORAN SCORES!"
The Irish crowd and Irish fans cheer but that is barely heard over the shrieks of the Veela's. The blasts now issuing from the Ministry members' wands, and the furious roars of the Bulgarians.
The fight is still going on but so is the match. Bagman says "now Levski had the Quaffle, now Dimitrov. The Irish Beater Quigley hits a passing Bludger and hit it as hard as possible toward Krum. He didn't duck quickly enough. It hit him full in the face. That must hurt."
The Bulgarian and Bulgarian fans (including Ron) let out a deafening groan. Krum's nose looks broken there is blood everywhere but Hassan Mostafa didn't blow his whistle. He had become distracted and Harry couldn't blame him as one of the Veela's had thrown a handful of fire and set his broom tail alight.
Harry can't control laughing as hopes that if he ever meets a Veela she doesn't get mad or have other negative emotions at him that she throws a fireball at me he thinks. Although at the same time he hopes someone realizes that Krum is injured; even though he is supporting Ireland. Krum is the most exciting player on the field. Ron obviously felt the same although Harry is nowhere as excited about Krum as Ron is.
Harry yells "come on time-out! Ah, come on, he can't play like that, look at him. Look at Lynch!"
Lynch, the Irish Seeker has suddenly gone into a dive. Harry, Hermione and all the Weasleys hold their breath. They are thinking does he tries the Wronski Feint as Krum is still bleeding and may have a concussion or something and a bit of blood is around his eyes. Lynch probably hopes it can help him give the edge above Krum.
Harry shouts "he sees the snitch. It is right in front of him. I see the snitch is it racing towards the ground.
Charlie shouts "he's seen it?! Look at him go!"
Only half the crowd realize what is happening as the Irish supporters rose in another great wave of green screaming their seek on and get the snitch. It looks like in less than a second that Krum is suddenly on his tail.
Harry has no idea how Krum can see where he is going as his whole face is now covered in blood while Krum also has flecks of his blood flying through the air behind him.
Harry like the others is surprised as Krum can get right next to Lynch even though Lynch had a head start. Krum manages to get level even though he started at a big disadvantage and that is not talking about his state with all that blood. He is really a good flyer and seeker.
Both of them are flying straight to the ground again.
Hermione screams in panic "they're going to crash!"
Ron roars "They're not!"
Harry sees what is happening and yells "Lynch will again!"
Harry is right for the second time Lynch hit the ground with tremendous force and is immediately stampeded by a horde of angry Veela's.
Charlie screams "the snitch, where's the snitch?"
All of them look except Harry. He knows.
Harry shouts so they can hear him "he's got it ….. Krum's got it… it's all over!"
Krum, his red robes shining with blood from his nose is rising gently into the air and in his fist held high is a glint of gold in his hand.
The scoreboard is flashing to show the match has ended. The score is Bulgaria- Ireland 160- 170. Across the crowd, no cheering is heard. It seems the crowd didn't realize what had happened.
Then slowly as a dragon is waking and then roaring the rumbling from the Ireland supporters grew louder and louder and erupted into screams of delight.
Bagman who also seems taken back by the sudden end of the match shouts " IRELAND WINS! KRUM GETS THE SNITCH ... B-BUT IRELAND WINS good lord, I don't think any of us were expecting that!"
Ron screams "why did they catch the snitch. He ended it when Ireland was a hundred and sixty points ahead. Idiot. "
Harry shouts back over all the noise because of all the applauding what he also does as luckily Ginny had let go of his arm amazed by the match "he knew they were never going to catch up! The Irish Chasers were too good. . . . He wants to end it on his terms, that's all. . ."
Hermione says "he was very brave, wasn't he?"
She leans forward to watch Krum land as a swarm of mediwizards blast a path through the battling leprechauns and Veela's to get to him.
Hermione whispers in Harry's ear "but not as brave as you. He never will be."
Harry doesn't know what to say. Hermione gives him a quick peck on his cheek none of the others except Ginny notice although Mr. Weasley and Bill think they see something but look just a second after Hermione's peck, just missing it.
Hermione raises her voice and says "he looks a terrible mess….."
Harry still blushing looks through his Omniocular and it is hard to see what was happening on the pitch. The leprechauns are flying delightedly all over the field. Harry can only make out that Krum is surrounded by mediwizards.
He looks surlier and grumpier than ever and refused to let them mop him up. His team members were around him while shaking their heads and looking dejected aa a short way away, the Irish players were dancing gleefully in a shower of gold descending from their mascots although two players hold Lynch up.
Flags of Ireland are waving all over the stadium. The Irish national anthem blared from all sides. The Veela's are shrinking back into their usual, beautiful selves now, though looking dispirited and forlorn. The Veela's quickly left the pitch.
Bagman roar "the Irish team performs a lap of honour, flanked by their mascots, the Quidditch World Cup is here in the ministry box!"
The ministry box is magically illuminated so everyone can see the box. The ministry box easily visibly from Harry, Hermione and the Weasleys even though they passed the ministry box when they got to their seat. If you look the box is to the side. Harry sees two panting wizards carrying a vast golden cup into the box, which they handed to Cornelius Fudge, who looks very disgruntled.
Harry thinks 'he probably bet on Bulgaria or something.'
Bagman shouts "let's have a really loud hand for the gallant losers with still a very good match and unfortunately second place … Bulgaria!"
The Bulgarian players fly to the ministry box. The crowd is applauding appreciatively even at least half of the Irish Harry thinks as he sees some Irish fans clapping. One by one, the Bulgarian players' names are called by Bagman when the players seem to shake someone's hand before flying to the side waiting for the others of the team. When Krum's name is announced, the whole stadium gave him a resounding, ear-splitting roar.
The Irish team is now flying to the Ministry after their round of honour. Harry sees that Aidan Lynch is being supported by Moran and Connolly. The second crash seems to have dazed him and his eyes look strangely unfocused but he doesn't seem to have as many injuries as after the Wronski Feint.
Lynch seems to get by a bit as he grins happily as Troy and Quigley lifted the Cup into the air and the crowd below thundered its approval. Harry's hands were numb with clapping because of the greatest match he has ever seen.
At last, the Irish team take another lap of honour on their brooms while the captain holds the golden Quidditch World Cup. To make sure Lynch doesn't fall they gave his broom to someone in the Ministry box and Lynch is on the broom with Connolly, clutching hard around his waist and still grinning in a bemused sort of way.
Bagman pointed his wand at his throat and muttered a spell that obviously silences his voice.
Hermione says "that must be Quietus that is the counter spell from Sonorus."
When the Weasleys, Harry and Hermione were walking down the stairs of the Top Box. Mr. Weasley walks behind the twins and says "don't tell your mother you've been gambling."
Fred says "don't worry, Dad. we've got big plans for this money."
George says "we don't want it confiscated."
Everyone looks surprised that Fred and George didn't finish each other sentence and that means they are completely serious which gives Mr. Weasley some ease of mind.
Mr. Weasley thinks for a moment to ask what these big plans were but decides that he didn't want to know. He trusts his sons but if he didn't know he can't answer her wife if she may find out.
26th August 1994, campsite (inside the tent), Quidditch World Cup
They are soon caught up in the crowds now flooding out of the stadium and back to their campsites. When they reach their tent Mr. Weasley says "Fred and George I allow you to seek out Mr. Bagman to get your winnings and my winning although it is only 7 Galleons what I won, but come immediately back after that. Bill and Charlie, you can go to your party as I can't and won't stop you but please don't drink too much if your mother finds out you are not the only one who she is going to be mad at. Ron, Ginny, Hermione and Harry you can stay up for a bit but if you are sleepy go to bed."
The twins return within a few minutes as Bagman was close by haggling with some goblins. He paid them the money and pulled 7 Galleons out of one of his pockets before quickly leaving as the goblins pursued him.
Ron is swooning out seeing Krum play. The twins took a seat as Ron says "there's no one like Krum. He's like a bird in the way he rides the wind. He's more than an athlete, he's an artist."
The twins are bumbling about in a comical way muttering 'KRUMMMM'.
Ginny says "I think you're in love Ron?"
The twins sing together "Viktor I love you! Viktor I do!"
Harry laughing joins in while Hermione and Ginny laughed.
Fred, George and Harry sing "when we're apart my heart beats only for youuu!"
They all laughed and even Hermione says "it didn't sound half bad."
Mr. Weasley sleepily with a big smile says "oh I am glad I'm not on duty. I wouldn't fancy having to go and tell the Irish they've got to stop celebrating."
Suddenly they hear a few hard sounds from outside.
Fred says "sounds like the Irish has got their pride on."
Mr. Weasley has gone outside to see if the party is close and if so put a silencing charm on the tent. He looks around and he immediately rushes into the tent. He hears Fred saying it is the Irish but it isn't. He sees all smiling and talking.
Mr. Weasley says "stop! Stop it. It's not the Irish. We've got to get out of here. Now."
26th August 1994, campsite, Quidditch World Cup
Everyone walks outside and sees that the party screams were actually panic screams. They see all the wizards and witches running towards the treeline. They look where they come from and see some figures in dark cloaks and some kind of skeleton masks that cover at least half their face. They are carrying flaming torches and use the torches to put tents on fire. They are not throwing torches. The figures don't conjure fire but use their wands to shoot fireballs from the torches to tents.
Mr. Weasley says "get back to the portkey everybody and stick together. Fred, George... Ginny is your responsibility. The Portkey should be active again and can be activated by a word. The ministry wizard or witch as the Portkey's should know."
They see Bill and Charlie run towards them. It took almost two minutes before they reach them as they needed to evade the wizards and witches running their way away from the figures.
Mr. Weasley only needs to look at Bill and Charlie with their wands out to know what they are planning.
Mr. Weasley says "we're going to help the Ministry! You lot ….. get into the woods, and stick together. Try to get to the Portkey's with all wizards and witches you should be safe. I am sure Amos would have sent Cedric and told him to wait on you unless he can't anymore if they get too close. I'll come and fetch you when we've sorted this out if you haven't left with the Portkeys!"
They nodded and start running to the treeline. However, before they left the rows of tents more people come rushing to the treeline. Because of the panic, they get split up. Harry gets pushed into one of the tents and when he gets up he sees that he lost the others and all the other people are gone. He wants to run to the woods when hears a scream, a female scream.
Let's end here for now. It took a bit of a long time to finish as it took some time for the canon in this story to work and all. As I let this story a little bit behind I will update this story next before going back to my other two stories.
In the next chapter, we see Mrs. Weasley's day at Diagon Alley and a surprise visit in Diagon Alley but also a surprise visit at the Burrow. We also see how the others are doing at the campsite when Harry and his group went back to their own tent for dinner and also after the match with the attack going on.
