Chapter 53 Susan's disappointment, Daphne thought, Harry's lunch, Tonks fantasy, Sirius's decision, Moody's bad class
3rd September 1994, library, Hogwarts
Susan walks while she is being followed by Hannah, Megan and Sally-Ann. Susan knows where she needs to go. She decides to look around first. She sees a very annoyed Daphne with Tracey, Lilian and her younger sister Astoria. Susan knows why. During breakfast, Malfoy was talking to her and Susan saw her getting annoyed. Susan was sure Daphne barely succeeded in not hexing him. She does wonder why Daphne holds back. Sure Susan wouldn't hex anyone even if she can but when someone goes too far like Malfoy was doing she would without a second.
Susan thinks 'I am sure if Daphne couldn't eat later like on a normal schoolday Malfoy would have been hexed if not worse.'
During the weekend breakfast and lunch are very long, so long it is almost half the whole morning and half the afternoon.
Susan continues. She would like to talk to Daphne as she is nice is you can talk to her in class or without Slytherins being around which in Hogwarts is very difficult. Susan walks towards the back and the last table with a clear few of the entrance and most of the tables while being a peaceful and quiet space although when you look to the last table from the entrance of the other tables you can barely see it. Nobody knows why it only works from that table you can see most of the library.
Everybody knows it is Hermione's table and has a couple of different names. The most used are the golden trio's brain, the smart Gryffindor or Potter's girlfriend. The last one is one of the main reasons Susan wants to talk to Hermione. Susan doesn't know if Hermione is already Harry's girlfriend but is sure if she isn't it wouldn't take long. Susan will be surprised if they aren't by the end of this school year and that is already a long time from now. That is the reason why she doesn't want to wait anymore. Susan knows if she keeps it from the future Lady Potter it will only bring problems for her, Hermione and mostly Harry. She knows it will not be easy for a muggleborn to accept and she knows Harry probably also has a problem with being muggle raised.
When she sees the table she immediately stops walking which makes Hannah almost bump into Susan knocking her over. Hannah could stop just in time and prevent Megan and Sally-Ann from bumping her into Susan.
Susan stops because Hermione isn't alone as she suspected Hermione would be as it is the first day, not even Harry her best friend will be with her. Harry isn't with Hermione but Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood are. Susan immediately doesn't know what to do. She knows Ginny also loves Harry you can clearly see it, but she doesn't know if Hermione knows.
She is considering what to do when she clearly remembers Hermione can be really strong-willed like with the Firebolt from last Christmas. Susan decides that she will not tell Hermione outright but slowly start to mention around her that a wizard in Harry's and Neville's situation can have more wives especially strong wizards as Harry is and if believes Hannah so is Neville. Hannah says she can feel Neville's power. The truth is she feels the same with Harry.
Susan knows why she wanted to talk to Hermione. She is very important to Harry. Harry scolding Ronald for badmouthing during the Firebolt incident shows that. Everyone who thinks Ronald Weasley is Harry's best friend is completely mental. Susan even wonders how Ronald can be friends with Harry but until Harry knows about the marriage contract and accepts her as his future wife and Lady Bones with him being her Lord husband she will not mention her thoughts about Ronald to Harry unless an opportunity presents itself or after they are married especially if Ronald doesn't grow up. She doesn't know if Ronald will mature or not but she wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't. She also has no illusion it will happen soon, she just hopes that the opportunity comes soon or that Ronald improves even if it is a little bit just enough to notice as that shows Ronald can mature but she highly doubts it and wonders if Ronald can ever. She shakes her head to forget about garbage mouth, bottomless pit Ronald Weasley and thinks about her love, raven-haired, green-eyed, handsome, best seeker in the world and Gryffindor, Harry Potter.
Unfortunately, the opportunity must be very clear as if the opportunity has a chance of failure and if the failure happens the chance Harry will ever really love her will be gone and she would be happy if he even likes her. Her Auntie always told her to seize every opportunity as she did, but her Auntie never had the chance of losing the love of her life as he was in Azkaban until last summer and now nobody knows where he is.
Susan turns around and walks away very disappointed. Susan doesn't notice Hermione, Ginny and Luna see her walk away. Luna knows why. Hermione and Ginny have an idea that it somehow involves her interest in Harry. They don't see Susan's face but see that she isn't her normal self through her body language. No one notices that Daphne also see it happening and she is the only one who sees her disappointed face although Tracey, Astoria and Lilian can also see Susan's face but are too focused on the books and homework besides some personal study like spells they should know but haven't been taught yet or weren't able to learn it on their own last year.
Daphne is at least happy Harry kept his word and Malfoy isn't dead although she barely hoped she did brew poison for Harry to kill or at least badly hurt Malfoy that he wouldn't be able to badger her like this and even spend a very long time in St. Mungo's. She almost wants to talk to Harry to please poison Malfoy if she brews the poison while also trying to discover what she brewed. She searched in her family's library but in all the potion or poison books none of the recipes for potions and poisons came very close. Some came a bit close but all that came close that were very few didn't make any sense. missed other key ingredients or according to the recipe had more ingredients she all used except the werewolf tooth.
She still thinks about ways to protect herself, Tracey, Lilian if she agrees and mostly Astoria. She will do anything for them, especially Astoria. She will even submit and promise everything she is to him if that will save Astoria and get her out of the snake pit and also if needed fight House Black to get Astoria out of it. Daphne doesn't really mean to fight Heir Black or House Black but more to buy the contract for Astoria from House Black to destroy the contract if that is possible as Astoria can't marry Harry as Daphne will and sisters are not allowed if they aren't twins, triplets or more.
As she hasn't seen Harry wear anything showing him being Heir of the most ancient and most noble House of Potter or in other words Heir Potter. Now one of the things she read about and didn't want to do as it really scares her, she must have extremely faith in Harry and much faith in Harry's 'good' character. It is the only thing that will save her if Harry wants to and if he still takes her (Daphne) he can do what he wants with her even if he first promised he will help her friends and little sister if he decides to not honour his words she can do nothing about it.
She wants to trust Susan, Hermione and mostly Harry, but if she learned one thing in the snake pit is that you can't trust anyone. Daphne trust Tracey and of course her little sister Astoria. Daphne knows when the protection of her house is gone or disappeared enough she can't protect Tracey anymore Tracey will most probably be hurt until she is forced to tell them everything Daphne told her in confidence. Daphne is afraid it will be sexual torture, humiliation and even physical violence if they can't cast the torture spell as Moody showed when he cast it on the spider or they will go to more dangerous spells that can draw blood or worse.
She knows Harry is the only one that can help her as Heir Potter. Heir Longbottom should also be able to help her but Neville is too insecure and while she doesn't think he is almost a squib she does think he is a little below average or average at best, not like Harry who has the most power of the fourth years and maybe even from all the students including the seventh years. He acted like a real Gryffindor but Harry is not stupid. She thought he is a little below average or average with his knowledge at best besides Defence Against the Dark Arts where he is the best without a doubt. That is what she thought about a year ago but in the last school year she was proved to be wrong Harry is much more intelligent than he shows as was Neville in a small lesser way.
3rd September 1994, Hagrid's cabin, Hogwarts
Meanwhile, Harry is at Hagrid to talk with Hagrid and Medusa. Normally he would ask Hermione and Ron with him and suddenly thinks he would also ask Ginny, Luna and Neville. He wonders if Katie would like it or not which immediately let him think about Susan.
He didn't ask them as he also wanted to talk with Medusa. Hermione together with Ginny and Luna are in the library while Ron was badgering many in Gryffindor tower for a game and Neville went to one of the Greenhouses. He really is a Herbology prodigy. He hasn't seen Susan yet today and Katie was having fun with the other chasers and didn't want to make take her away from her friends. He also thinks it isn't wise at this moment that anyone knows about Medusa.
He hasn't told anyone that he would go to Hagrid well except Neville as they both walked on the grounds before they needed to split up. Ron didn't hear anything then 'no, I need to do something else' while Katie was talking with Angelina and Alicia while Hermione, Ginny and Luna were already in the library as they went immediately after breakfast.
After only a few minutes Hedwig flies to the window and taps it with her beak. Hagrid opens the window. Hedwig flies in and immediately lands on Harry's shoulder. When Hedwig does that Medusa does the same on the other side. When Harry pets them Fang immediately goes to Harry to also get a pat. Harry scratches Hedwig with his left hand, making Athena push herself to his left cheek to use his right hand to pet Fang.
After a little while, Hagrid calls Fang back. He needs to do it a couple of times before Fang finally listens. He gets a large pet from Hagrid before he lies down by the fireplace. Harry stays a long time. He missed lunch but Dobby wouldn't let it happen and brought some lunch.
Hagrid asks "Harry, why did the house-elf bring yeh lunch?"
Harry says "it was Dobby who also brings Medusa food. I saved him from the Malfoys. He probably didn't see me in the Great Hall and therefore brought me lunch and it looks like some pumpkin juice. And a lot of bacon strips probably for Hedwig and Medusa."
"I would prefer that you do not tell anyone Hagrid and I mean anyone. I like Dobby and I don't think the others like it if I have a house-elf here at Hogwarts while they don't have their house-elf at Hogwarts."
Hagrid smiles and says "I understand, Harry. I will not tell anyone but I prefer not ter lie if they ask 'bout Dobby."
Harry says "I don't think you need to worry about that Hagrid. Dobby only wants to help like this or bring Medusa some food once in a while."
Hagrid nods. They continue to talk while they also eat lunch Harry from Dobby and Hagrid makes his own lunch and give Fang some of it as he begs for some. A little over an hour and a half past lunch Hedwig hoots something. Harry looks outside of the window and immediately sees §Medusa hide.§
Medusa nods and immediately slides off his left arm and down his leg to hide inside Hagrid's cabin. Before Medusa is out of sight he sis §I am sorry Medusa, but I think it is too soon for one of my friends to see you. I will talk to her and hope she will accept you.§
Medusa sis §I understand Master. I hope too. If she is like Master I will like her just like I like Hagrid and love master.§
Harry stands up to give her a big scratch under her mouth which she likes before he stands up and walks back to his seat.
Hagrid asks "Harry what is going on?"
Harry says "I am sorry Hagrid. Hedwig told me, Hermione, Ginny, Luna and Neville are coming. I see them coming down the path. Luna knows about Medusa but the others do not and I think I want to keep it like that until I can convince them that Medusa is no threat. I think it will be better if I ask them what they think about snakes and like that. Then I can know what they think and if they don't like snake what they think about me being able to talk Parseltongue especially if I talk with a snake what they think about the snake if I think the snake is nice or something similar."
Hagrid nods and says "I understand. If you want I may be able to talk about snakes during one of my classes to compare some muggle snakes with magical snakes. We then can make Medusa come out and you talk to her for a bit near the end of the class."
Harry says "maybe but like I said Medusa isn't a magical creature."
Hagrid says "maybe or maybe not I didn't examine her yet."
Harry says "we will talk about this later."
Hagrid nods just when there is a knock on the door. Hagrid greets them and allows them in. Harry is a bit scared as Hermione and Ginny glare at him.
Hermione walks to him and pushes her finger in his chest and says "Harry James Potter, why didn't you tell me…."
Ginny gives a small cough to interrupt her.
Hermione continues "I mean us. Why didn't you tell us you will have lunch here with Hagrid."
Harry says "you were gone before I could have the chance to say anything."
Ginny walks to the side of Hermione and says "you also didn't tell Neville when you both went outside."
Harry says "it didn't really mean to but I was having fun talking to Hagrid and things like that I forgot the time. Still, I got lunch so you don't need to worry. When I have lunch I decided to stay for a bit. I will be in time for dinner."
Hermione says "yes you will. I will make sure of it. Hagrid can you pour us some of your incredible tea. We would like to talk to you too. I have a lot of questions about this year and how the Hippogriffs are doing."
Hagrid says "sure let me grab some cups. Do you all stay?"
Hermione, Ginny, Luna and Neville nod. Hagrid grabs four more cups and pours them a cup of tea.
Hagrid asks "you to Harry?"
Harry says "sure Hagrid I drank all the pumpkin juice anyway."
Nobody notices the finished lunch from Harry is taken away. Dobby did it and kept himself invisible to his Master's friends. He likes them too but as Harry hasn't said he makes himself known to them yet he doesn't.
4th September 1994, Tonks residence, Dartford, south-east of London, England
It is early in the morning. She is happy as it is the first Sunday she is off since she became a junior Auror and that was six months ago. She and her mentor Senior Auror (and squad leader) Kingsley Shacklebolt were on protection detail with Director Bones because of the attack on the Quidditch World Cup a little over a week ago. Director Bones didn't want it or found it needed but it is one of the most important rules. If there is a dangerous organisation the Director of the DMLE will get a protection detail. There are exceptions but none weren't in effect right now like going into hiding.
Tonks suddenly let out a large moan followed by a small scream before she breaths heavily and have a nice smile on her face. She needs to catch her breath. She has woken up in a very wet dream, the dream was so good it made her orgasm. They hear spells being cast but because the campsite is abandoned and there is quite a bit of smoke it is difficult to make out from where exactly and just try to move to the Weasley's campsite. They see light flashes but don't know if it is from fighting or if one of the tents is on fire as many tents block their clear view including the smoke.
After a couple of minutes, later Tonks's mind speeds up to get closer to the point of her dream. The point of her wet dream is Harry Potter. They see that some tents suddenly are burning and speed up while still making sure they are not ambushed. She hears the scream "Aurors, leave the creatures. Get out of here."
To the side, they see a spell cast in the sky. Tonks wants to follow but Kingsley shakes his head and says "I want to chase that person too but Harry Potter is more important."
Tonks looks up and shakenly points her hand. Kingsley looks up and almost turns white. He says "bloody hell, the Dark Mark. Quickly let's hope it isn't what it normally means."
Tonks doesn't know what Kingsley means only that it is bad.
When they are close to the walkway what takes only a small minute that should lead to the Weasley's campsite and where the tents caught fire they hear one large pop before a few seconds later another pop. When they are almost at the walkway they hear many multiple small pops.
When they get a clear view they see Harry Potter fighting with thirteen Aurors only six were already taken out by him. Tonks immediately gets drawn to his eye which almost looks like it shines in power. She feels his magic, the raw power that is intoxicating. It made her scream "Mr. Crouch stop firing" she almost want to attack Mr. Crouch for attacking Harry Potter.
She sees the other girls clinging to Harry which made her mad but also feels something inside her to not make the brunette, Hermione Granger, mad and a lesser degree the red-head, Ginny Weasley, what she remembered from the summer before when she was in the last year when she was an Auror Trainee.
She feels Harry's magic very profoundly. Her mother told her that witches feel the magic of a wizard when they are compatible and the stronger the wizard the more she will feel. She wonders why she also feels something from the witches.
From here on the dream start to change with what happened in reality. In the dream, she launches herself at Harry and forced him to the ground. She starts snogging as her life depended on it. The other girls just laugh and don't stop her. The laughing isn't malicious it is more that they can't help but laugh at her action without hurting her. When she finally comes up for air Harry has moved his hand to her arse to cup her arse. The red-head Ginny says "welcome fellow sister-wife."

5th September 1994, unknown Island, Unknown location
It is nice and sunny. Sirius and Remus together with Buckbeak are enjoying the sun although Sirius and Remus are thinking about Harry. They haven't heard from him for weeks. Sirius and Remus can understand as they are far away from England.
Remus says "Padfoot we should have let Harry know he can send letters through Gringotts."
Sirius says "maybe, but Gringotts isn't used for everyday mail. If Harry does too much it will alert someone sooner or later. While the Goblins will not betray us at least I don't think there are more ways to follow mail. That is why I use birds I find on the island and I think they can deliver it. Maybe I should take a male and female with me when we return to England."
Remus says "you mean if you return."
Sirius says "while I know it isn't a good idea I will return to England soon but in time I will. Whenever Harry needs me or when Harry gets a house and wants me there I will be there for him."
Remus interrupts and says "Padfoot, we will be there for him."
Sirius says "yes Moony my bad we will be there. Also as his house is from the Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Potter, the ministry will probably not do anything if he buys a house or uses one of his manors. I didn't have time to tell him that. I hope I can do it before the coming summer so he doesn't need to return to his relatives. If they did something to Harry I will kill Vermin."
Remus says "I will gladly help you if they hurt my cub."
Sirius adds "and my pup."
Suddenly an eagle flies towards them. He circles above them before diving down and drops two letters before flying upwards and away.
Remus says "only Gringotts can use eagles. What do they want?"
Sirius says "there have been houses who managed to keep Eagles and use them for mail, but you are right now only Gringotts have them. They aren't from Gringotts it seems they send them to Gringotts to get the letters to me. If they want a response we may need to go to the closet Gringotts branch or you need to make a trip again although I think Padfoot like an big walk all the way to England, Moony."
Remus says "first read the letters."
Sirius read both letters before letting Remus read them. When Remus is done Sirius says "I think we can trust the Greengrasses. Lily liked Isabel as Ravenclaw and if I remember correctly Jacob is not like other Slytherin, is from the Neutral faction most important he and House Greengrass didn't follow Voldemort and he became Lord Greengrass when his parents and brother got killed by Death Eaters. Also, it seems they don't know that I am Lord Black and Harry's real guardian and certainly don't know that Harry is Heir Black. It will be quite a shock."
Remus says "I don't think it is wise you go, Sirius. How do you know they won't stun you and call the Aurors."
Sirius says "well I thought about sending Amy a letter to ask if she is willing to hear me out."
Remus says "Padfoot you can't be serious."
Sirius says "but I am Moony. I am Sirius Black after all."
Remus rolls his eyes but can't suppress a smile.
Sirius says "but really Moony. I know I take a large risk but I hope with Harry being betrothed to Susan and before she stuns me I can tell I didn't what I am accused of she may be willing to hear me out. Or we can go there while I am Padfoot and you try to talk to her. I can even sign you to be my representative and you can bring it up. You must be prepared she will threaten you although I don't think she will attack you unless you push it too far."
Moony says "why would she?"
Sirius says "that is easy. You are to me and James a brother in all but blood. Dumbledore will not let you be his representative as Harry's guardian unless he still thinks you are loyal beyond question. If Amy question Dumbledore about what I think she does she will think why do you come and think you know where I am she probably still knows I am Harry's godfather and by James and Lily's Will his rightful guardian. If she will not allow the Will Harry's is also my cousin like James was through Dorea Black James Mother."
"Also as Dumbledore pretends to be the leader of the light why would he sends you a Werewolf as his representative for Harry. You know we never thought to be like you as a dark creature, no one can when they know you, unfortunately, many in the wizarding population will think like that. Amy doesn't as you should know."
Remus sighs before he says "I know. Still, I think letting Amelia know you will return is not a good idea."
Sirius says "if it was anyone else who was director of the DMLE I would agree."
Remus asks "were would we even stay? I prefer not to sleep in the caves and I don't think Buckbeak likes that too."
Sirius says "well I have been thinking about that. We got two options. The Black Manor or better said townhouse in London. My mother is dead and I think nobody inhabitants the manor. I prefer not to but there we can hide out for some time. Everybody knows I hate that house so they would not expect us there."
"There is however one more option. I don't want to put her in a difficult position and her daughter is an Auror."
Remus says "you can't mean Andromeda."
Sirius says "I do. I think she, Ted and their daughter Nymphadora will believe me about me not betraying James and Lily. Nymphadora is a Metamorphmagus do you know if she prefers pink hair?"
Remus says "I honestly don't know. Why?"
Sirius says "when I tried to find Harry when I was in Hogsmeade as Padfoot I saw a young woman, an Auror with pink hair. I know I smelled her scent but I didn't recognize her until shortly I forgot that Nymphadora is a Metamorphmagus and she mostly tried pink hair but never succeeded. I am not sure she was it, but she could be. She tried to change her hair colour when she was younger especially when she visited Harry as it made Harry laugh."
Remus says "if you are sure we can at least send Andi a letter, but we must do it through Gringotts as we don't know what she believes. I think or better said hope that she and her family believe me. She knows what I thought about you, James and Frank and the rat before I knew he betrayed James and Lily and framed me."
Sirius says "I agree with the letter and that we go through Gringotts. However, I fully believe she trusts me enough to know I would never do that. She let her know you come as you need to talk to her and when we go there we with Buckbeak and ask if Buckbeak can stay in the back garden as I remember correctly the backyard should be warded with a notice-me-not charm."
"Also if we use Buckbeak we don't need to go through the ministry like you needed to do on the day of the Quidditch World Cup. I hope everything went well, too bad we don't get the Daily Prophet here."
"If we send Andi a letter, we can immediately send Jacob a letter that at this time we are unable but as soon as we can we will contact them what should be soon as it seems urgent."
Remus sighs say "alright let's write the letter but it is better if we wait to go to England until after the full moon in two weeks."
Sirius says "I don't think that is a problem."
They both stand up and went to the cabin they have to grab parchment, ink bottles and a quill to write a letter.
7th September 1994, Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, Hogwarts
All the students are shocked and a bit afraid. Professor Moody said that he will cast the Imperius curse on them to train them to resist it. He said that in every class he will do it at least half of the time except today. He has a double hour and decides to use both hours to use it on the entire class one by one. Most of the people he used to do things like dance or make them act like an animal. Only a few resisted a little like Neville and Pansy. However, when Moody cast stronger the second time they did what he asked.
Near the end, Harry was up. Moody says "Mr. Potter. Imperio."
He says to those already done "what should we do? How about jumping up the desk and jumping while trying to fly with your wings."
Harry climbs up to the desk. Moody says "jump."
Harry was almost ready when he stops. Moody says "I said jump."
Harry shakes his head and says "no."
Moody says to the class "well it seems Mr. Potter is the first one to break the curse. Let's see if I put a bit more power into it."
Moody cast Imperio again with more power and says "jump."
Harry screams "NO."
Harry uses so much power to shake the curse of Moody getting blasted a few feet. He barely can remain standing. Moody says "very good Mr. Potter you can take a seat."
Behind Harry is Hermione, Ron, Susan, Hannah, Daphne, Tracey, Crabbe, Malfoy, Goyle and Nott in that order. Hermione gets cursed. She needs to act like a cow. Hermione is about to get on all fours when the bracelet starts to slightly light up. Only Harry, Susan, Hannah, Tracey and Daphne notice. Malfoy, his goons, Nott and Ron are laughing too hard they do not. Most of the class laughs except for a few girls like the Patil twins and Su Li. Lavender tries to suppress a laugh as does Fay. Harry sees and thinks it is as support for Hermione. Moody stands on the other side of Hermione and also doesn't notice the bracelet.
Hermione stops immediately and shakes her head. She shakenly says "no."
Moody put more power in the curse which makes the bracelet light up more. This time Hermione just stands still and does not even attempt to follow the order. Moody says "well done Miss Granger. You can take a seat. Next Mister Weasley."
Moody says "let's see. Ah yes, you are your pet. Ron starts to hoot jumping around the classroom. After a few minutes, Moody stops the curse.
Moody says "pathetic. Take a seat Mr. Weasley. Next ah Miss Bones."
Moody says "well let's see. A cow should be fun but maybe something else like jumping jacks."
Susan asks "jumping shacks?"
Moody says "no, jumping jacks. Well, let me show you. Imperio."
Susan starts doing jumping jacks with Moody moving his wand up and down. He says "continue."
Moody lowers his wand and Susan continues. He decides to make her do jumping jacks to make her breasts bounce. He wanted Hermione to act like a cow as she is an uppity mudblood and acting like a cow with one of the largest breasts of her year would serve her right as all mudblood are nothing more than animals if not worse. He knows she was an uppity mudblood immediately after the first class with the way she acted and thinks she is smart.
Susan suddenly stops and says "I will not do it."
Moody sends a stronger curse. Susan knows what she needs to do. She looks straight into Harry's eyes. The curse hit her but she doesn't continue. Seeing straight in Harry's eyes gives her the strength to resist the curse. Her whole mind is focused on Harry.
Moody says "well done Miss Bones. Even when I send a stronger one you didn't even attempt to continue."
Susan smiles and takes her seat. Hannah needs to act like a little girl because she has her recognizable pigtails today. She resist the first time after half a minute but the stronger one make her act like the was ordered and wasn't able to break it.
Daphne was ordered to act like a clingy girlfriend to the boy she likes. She immediately steps towards the class. She takes three more steps getting close to Harry. Then she stops and says "not a chance."
Moody tries a little more power and Daphne takes two other steps before stopping again shaking off the curse. She is clearly pointing to Harry but fortunately, Harry doesn't sit at the front and behind Harry in the second row are Hufflepuff pureblood, Ernie MacMillan and the Slytherin Blaise Zabini. From the way, Daphne set her steps you can reach Harry but also Ernie and Blaise. Malfoy clearly doesn't like this as she should be loving him by now even if it is to protect her parents and sister. He will get her.
Moody says "Miss Greengrass adequate. Next Miss Davis."
Daphne is happy her Occlumency shields help her to shake the curse off before she walked to Harry and kisses him while hanging on his arm like his girlfriend like Pansy reluctantly does by Malfoy most of the time.
Tracey is ordered to act like a dog which already has been done by others. Tracey gets on all fours but before she barks she sees Daphne looking at her. Tracey immediately throws the curse off and gets up. Moody put more power into the spell. Tracey remains standing but gives a few barks before she can shake the curse off again. She blushes what Harry can't deny looks quite attractive.
Moody says "barely adequate Miss Davis. Next."
Crabbe looks like an idiot and can't resist the spell even one bit. He acted like a life-sized rabbit, Malfoy followed and was as weak as Crabbe. Malfoy acted like a duck.
Moody says "no surprise Mr. Malfoy. You got no defence. Take a seat."
Goyle followed acting like a big wild turkey who can't fly because it is too fat. Goyle also had no defence. Lastly, Nott had also no defence and acted like a horse for a couple of minutes before Moody released the spell.
The double hour was almost over. Moody says "what I have witnessed is pathetic. If you can't shake off the curse you can hurt your loved ones. Constant Vigilance. For the next class read up about the Imperius Curse and try to gather your willpower to shake it off. I want those that did shake it off to try to shake it off immediately next time. Those that have no defence I expect better although it doesn't surprise me in the least. Now class dismissed and always think CONSTANT VIGILANCE."
As soon as they are far enough away Hermione says "how can he do this?"
Ron says "he is a good friend of headmaster Dumbledore. I am sure Headmaster Dumbledore know about this and does it to help us fight against it and experience it to know what will happen as Death Eaters are still out there."
Hermione says "I guess you are right. We should trust Professor Dumbledore and Professor Moody. They are Professors and know what they are doing."
Harry says "maybe. I must agree Moody is an ex-Auror he probably knows what he is doing. Hermione, you should not trust them just because they are Professors."
When Ron walks ahead Harry walks slower than Hermione who automatically also decreases her speed to match Harry.
Harry whispers barely hard enough for Hermione to hear "remember what Padfoot wrote. Dumbledore and Snape use Legilimency on the students. I think that is illegal. Maybe I am worrying for nothing, but besides Professor Lupin the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor was bad, one tried to kill me while the other tried to obliviate me."
Hermione grasps his hand without even noticing and says "oh Harry. Alright, I understand. We will keep our eyes open, but I still think need to trust Professor Dumbledore. If something isn't right about Professor Moody he should know right?"
Harry says "I don't think so. He may be blinded by friendship. I mean if he is the greatest wizard why didn't he know about Voldemort at the back of Quirrell's head or that in our second year it was a Basilisk and why didn't he help us with Sirius? If he is a good wizard the minister would listen to him, no doubt."
Hermione says "well, Dumbledore said no one would listen to us."
Harry says "but if he would support our claim that would mean us and Dumbledore."
Hermione bits her under lip like she is in thoughts. Harry needs to suppress a groan and Hermione says "maybe."
Before Harry can convince her completely Ron comes back. He asks "why did you stop walking I was near the giant staircase before I noticed you weren't behind me."
Harry says "sorry Ron. I forgot something I thought you heard me. Anyway, I have it now. Hermione was just waiting for me."
Ron says "oh alright then. We should be quick lunch has already started."
Ron almost runs back down. Harry follows him but when he sees that Hermione is still thinking he grabs her wrist and gently drags her along until she follows on her own what happens when they reach the giant staircase.
9th September 1994, Tonks residence, Dartford, south-east of London, England
It is dinner time. Ted, Andi and Nymphadora are eating together much to Andi's pleasure. Nymphadora still has a couple of worst shifts but at least now most of the time she can enjoy breakfast or dinner with her parents sometimes even both. They hear a tap against the window. They see an eagle which surprises them. As they live in a muggle neighbourhood beside the Daily Prophet delivered by owls they don't get letters from owls and when it happens it is very unusual. Tonks gets notified by her Auror Badge. Andi when she gets called by the floo and Ted mostly has muggle clients and if clients are magical he mostly set up appointments through floo calls only the first time can be made by owl but that one should go to his office, not the kitchen window.
Ted closest to the window opens the window. The eagle jumps inside on the dinner table drops the letter he is carrying and flies out. Ted grabs it and says "Andi it is for you."
Andi looks surprised but grabs it. She opens in and almost immediately growls "that stupid mutt."
Ted smiles and says "Sirius" with a large grin.
Andi says "Ted get that grin off your face before I hex it off."
Andi reads
Dear Andi,
I write you this from the sunny side of the world and as the deviously handsome Lord Black. I know that you and hopefully your family knows that I would have never done what I am accused of. While I didn't get a trial I do not blame you or our House wizard as I am sure Dumbledore would have worked against you from behind the scene like he normally does and has someone else do the dirty work when you tried. At least I hope you tried.
Anyway, I write to you as I need your help and if it works out you will be a Black again besides being a Tonks of course. By now I think Ted knows that I wrote this letter. Give him my greetings and I would like a good cold butterbeer soon.
I know I will ask a lot but I am planning to return to England to be there for my godson as I always wanted and I got some important letters that I have to address as it seems rather urgent I need to see the senders soon. I was wondering if you be so kind as to let me stay at your house for a while with a good friend. And I just mean a friend. Someone you should know quite well namely Remus Lupin. That means we have to wait at least until the last week of September or the start of October.
I know as I am wanted by more than just the witches of the world that especially with your Auror daughter Nymphadora who probably prefers pink hair can pose a problem. I am willing to talk with the most beautiful woman Amelia Bones if she will at least hear me out before stunning me or capturing me although she captured my heart a long time ago.
Andi rolls her eyes before she continues.
I know it sounds cheesy but why deny it when I know it is true as does Remus. He thinks I am being crazy for being willing to talk to Amy …. Uhh I mean Amelia Bones, Director of the DMLE. I know I should not ask this but maybe you can try to talk to Amelia. I understand if you don't want to. If you don't I hope you will not have Aurors wait for me when I arrive as I will probably be kissed by a Dementor before I can do anything.
If you really don't want to see me because of the fugitive state I completely understand and will not hold it against you. If you don't you can send it through Gringotts all I ask is that you don't tell the Aurors I plan to return. The same goes if Amelia will not listen to me. At least tell her that my feelings never changed.

Andi sighs and says "Nymphadora."
Tonks immediately says "don't call me tha…..."
Andi interrupts and just says "listen."
Tonks stops talking. She knows this voice. It means this is very important almost the matter between life and death.
Andi says "I need to talk to your boss and I don't mean Rufus Scrimgeour I mean Amelia Bones. I need to talk to her. It is kind of urgent. As you have protection detail again tonight to protect her do you think it is possible to ask her to meet with me regarding Sirius?"
Tonks nods. Andi asks "Ted, do you think I should do what he asked?"
Ted put the letter down and says "I think you do. I should get the butterbeer and make sure it is cold for when they arrive."
Andi grabs the letter back and put it back on the table. She says "Dora, you should quicken up and eat dinner. Your shift starts soon no doubt. He read it quickly but leave the letter here."
Tonks nods and starts wolfing down her food. She reads it soon and then puts the letter back on the table. She is done barely 5 minutes later. Give them a quick goodbye before going to the Ministry of Magic to meet up with the protection detail for tonight and tomorrow morning before moving to Bones Manor.
10th September 1994, Bones Manor
It is almost breakfast. Tonks is almost done with her shift and sees Amelia leaving her bedroom dressed for the day. She decides now is as good a time as ever and they are alone right now.
Tonks asks "Director Bones, I know I am still on duty but I wonder if I have a moment of your time?"
Somehow how Tonks asks Amelia makes Amelia intrigued about what especially as also Tonks's hair starts to turn rapidly before setting on orange hair for confidence with yellow streaks in her hair for being hopeful as she really likes her cousin Sirius Black and she believes her mother and father that he would never have done what he was accused from.
Amelia says "sure, let's get in the office for now."
Tonks nod and Amelia leads her to the office that is one floor lower.
10th September 1994, Lord's office, Bones Manor
It is called the Lord's office however only Susan is left so maybe Lady's office is better unless Susan gives Harry the control over House Bones that he should get if Susan allows it. Then it will be Harry's office for House Bones. However, until Susan is married it is the Lady's office as long as Susan allows her aunt to use it.
They enter. Amelia walks to the desk to sit on the comfy chair while gesturing to Tonks to seat on the slightly less comfy chair.
Amelia says "junior Auror Tonks, it seems you have something rather urgent I guess."
Tonks nods and says "yes Director Bones. My mother got a letter from Sirius Black."
Amelia jumps up and says "where is he?"
Tonks says "honestly I don't know. I only know that he isn't in England."
Amelia sits down and asks "if that is so why did you tell me this?"
Tonks says "he knows I am an Auror even though I am a junior Auror. He doesn't want to bring me or our family in trouble. He agreed to talk to you if you are willing to hear him out. Sirius wrote that he never got a trial. I never wondered if he did or didn't. I didn't have time to ask my parents but they didn't seem surprised so they may know."
"My mother asked if you can meet her soon to discuss it. At least that is what I suspect. If the letter is true Sirius isn't in England yet. I don't know if it matters but in the letter he called you Amy."
Amelia says rather mad "don't ever mention that to anyone again or call me that."
Tonks says "sorry Director Bones. I didn't mean anything by it I just thought if I said it you would know it is really Sirius or not."
Amelia closes her eyes. She starts thinking about Sirius when they were younger. She still hates that she wanted to wait until You-Know-Who was gone especially after all the friends she lost and her brother and sister-in-law and she wanted to make sure he was gone for her niece. To make sure that she can continue House Bones without the threat of a mad man and with her husband, the love of her life.
Amelia is happy for Susan that despite they didn't grow up as they should she still loves Harry. She just hopes Harry does too. She hasn't told anyone but when she met him first in the summer before his third year something didn't feel right.
Amelia says "fine. Did your mother give you a date and time for the meeting?"
Tonks shakes her head and says "no, she did not. If you want I can make sure my mother sends you a letter or you give me a letter with a place, time and place."
Amelia says "we better do this soon."
She grabs a letter and writes something on it before folding it and giving it to Tonks. She says "junior Auror Tonks give this to your mother and on your next duty let me know if it is agreeable."
Tonks put it in her robe pocket and agrees. Tonks says to Amelia she will return to her post for the remaining time of her shift and will give the letter to her mother and/ or her father as soon as she can.
Amelia nods and Tonks leaves the office. Amelia stays in the office.
Amelia turns her chair around. Behind her is a big window. She starts to think as she sees the glow of the sun is rising and slowly she gets engulfed by the sunshine.
She can't about anything else but Sirius Black and his smile before and during the war with You-Know-Who. She is two years older and when they start the Auror department as an Auror trainee she was already a junior Auror during the war the Auror training was cut in half as they lost most Aurors than recruits they got until You-Know-Who was gone then they got more Auror recruits then they got money for or at least that is what Amelia thinks as she became head of the DMLE at 1990 she saw the whole budget and understand why the Auror Department wasn't really large or the pay was not the best.
She sits for quite some time when suddenly there is a knock on the door. Amelia doesn't respond as she doesn't hear the knock. All her thought remain on Sirius and his smile that makes her feel like a schoolgirl when her crush pays attention to her. It also makes her knees go weak and some thoughts when to the more mature places in her mind. She hates that the mere thought of Sirius Black and his smile make her feel like a lovesick schoolgirl again.
The door of the office opens. Amelia does hear that and immediately turns the chair around with her wand pointed at the door. She has a curse on her lips but stops when she sees the Auror she trusts most of the whole department including the head of the Aurors. It is Kingsley Shacklebolt.
Amelia asks "what is it Senior Auror Shacklebolt? What are you doing here, did I miss a call? The badge didn't let me know."
Kingsley says "no, Director Bones. I just want to let you know that the shift is about to change. The night shift has not seen anything and will leave shortly. They are waiting for you to allow them to leave."
Amelia asks "you can allow them to go, Kingsley. Can you return her after that I need to discuss something important with you?"
Kingsley nods and leaves the office. A couple of minutes later Kingsley returns.
When he walks inside Kingsley says "the night shift left Director Bones."
Amelia nods and asks "Alright, can you close the door behind you."
Kingsley nods and closes the door before taking a seat when Amelia gestures he does so.
Kingsley asks "Director, is this as Director Bones or Madam Bones?"
Amelia says "I think it is more as Amelia but also as Director Bones. I got information about Sirius Black."
Kingsley wants to ask how, where, in England and if the information is valuable and more importantly is true. Kingsley however sees that Amelia will answer all his questions without him needing to as him.
Amelia says "I however don't know where he is and strongly suspect it isn't in England. Tonks told me as she, her mother and her father got a letter addressed to her mother. I haven't seen the letter yet but hope to do that somewhere in the coming week and more importantly, I want you to accompany me when I go to Tonks's house."
"From what Tonks tells me I think the letter is true and from Sirius Black. According to the letter Sirius plans to return to England. However, that is not the most important part. Sirius claims he didn't have a trail."
Kingsley blurt out unintentionally "but that is impossible. He is the Heir of the Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Black. He cannot be sentenced without a trial. In a trial, he can choose to go with or without Veritaserum. As Heir to one of the oldest Houses, he should be able to even request a trial even if it is for himself if he didn't have one or more pieces of evidence come forward what can change the sentencing needed to be verified by at least the Director of the DMLE and two wizengamot members."
Amelia says "yes, the oldest houses have extra privileges and rights on special occasions like not having a trial. It wasn't said but I think that Sirius knows Dumbledore will not help him as he sends it to the Tonkses even if they are the law wizard from House Black. Dumbledore should be able to arrange the trial as Chief Warlock within a few days and Sirius Black knows that as primary and only Heir of House Black's mainline."
Kingsley nods as he gets his face under control and put on his Auror face as he likes to call it.
Kingsley asks "Director Bones are you sure of Dumbledore? I mean I know he is Chief Warlock, but it seems like you think he is innocent."
Amelia says "in private you can call me Amelia and to answer your question that is because I think he is Kingsley. Sirius was James' best friend and no matter how much Lily with refuse to acknowledge him was also a good friend of theirs. James was also Sirius's cousin because of James's mother. Also, Sirius was made Harry Potter's godfather. I don't know if he did the magical oath of godfather as that is a private oath or better said ritual that is a bit frowned upon by most Houses although not House Bones."
Kingsley says "alright Di… Amelia. I cannot disagree with what you said. I worked with them a couple of times. If they looked like I would think they were twins the way they are almost perfect working together including fighting and just banter. I met Lily a few times not enough to know her or James good enough for that matter but enough to know that Sirius was like a brother to James and an annoying little brother to Lily."
Amelia can't suppress a smile. She knows most of the pranks and remembers her, Lily and sometimes Alice scolded Sirius, James and Frank, before she graduated from Hogwarts two years before them but according to Lily and Alice, they used her to reign Sirius back in. It didn't work much but enough to not burn Hogwarts to the ground by accident or prank goes wrong. Also when James, Sirius and Frank were training to become Auror it seems James and Sirius didn't lose their love for pranks with Frank sometimes helping them or at least playing along least until his father was killed.
In James' case, his parents were killed and a few days later Lily's muggle parents were killed as Lily helped James defend his home as they were a couple already and lived together in the Potter Manor as most Heirs do. Most Death Eaters were killed or permanently injured from the large force attacking Potter Manor. They managed to kill Charlus and Dorea but everyone in the large force of Death Eaters was killed or injured only a few manage to escape without injury. It is said Potter Manor was burned to the ground for losing so many Death Eaters by You-Know-Who himself after James and Lily left the manor.
Amelia says "Kingsley when I know when to go I will make sure you are on duty so you don't have to go with me in your own time."
Kingsley says "I will come with you Amelia even if it is in my own time."
Amelia smiles and says "thank you, Kingsley. Let's go downstairs I don't have had breakfast yet and am quite hungry right now."
Kingsley says "I will take my position outside."
Amelia nods and says "let's hope nothing happens in the coming days as that will make me be able to not need a protection detail when at home. The wards should be enough protection. Sometimes I really don't like the rules."
Kingsley laughs and says "I have heard that before like your own niece. I am happy she doesn't have a boyfriend yet as that would be very awkward for those in her protection detail when she has some fun with her boyfriend outside of the manor like a date or something."
Amelia manages to laugh to say Susan is already betroth as it is not her place to tell that she betroth is to Harry Potter, but she thinks Kingsley can also suspect he is when she made him and Tonks make sure to protect Harry and extended it to all the Weasley's and Hermione Granger possible sister-wife for House Potter of Susan, maybe Ginny Weasley too when she remembers how Arthur, one of the other few she trust, told her about Hermione and Ginny keeping their eyes on Harry what Arthur also did after the attack. Hermione and Ginny look nice and will not make Susan life's bad also Amelia isn't stupid and knows that some problems will arise. She just hopes the few times it gets out of hand Harry as their husband for House Potter and House Bones will take control to stop it.
They both stand up and leave the office.
10th September 1994, the Great Hall, Hogwarts
The great hall is full as it is dinner time. Hermione says "I wonder how the teachers have time to make all the food with all the classes and everything even if it is Saturday."
A few places further Fred and George look at each other confused when one says "Hermione, the teacher doesn't make the food."
The other says "Hogwarts uses House-elves to make the food."
Hermione drops her fork and asks loudly "house-elves?"
As many people are talking her loud voice doesn't grab everyone's attention. She asks no one in particular "Hogwarts use slaves?"
She slaps Harry's spoon out of his hand. She says "Harry stop eating they use slaves to make this food."
Harry grabs his spoon and says "Hermione, I am sure they are cared for. I mean they like to work."
Ron says "yeah, Hermione let them. Harry is right."
Hermione glares at Ron before looking back at Harry and saying "but Harry they are slaves. They don't get paid. If they work without getting paid, that is slavery. It is almost the worst kind."
Harry asks "but Hermione what if they get food, a place to stay and do what they love isn't that kind of pay? Isn't that a way of paying them? Then it isn't slavery."
Hermione says "how can you say that. You told me how Dobby was treated by the Malfoys. That is also slavery ordering him and to order to punish himself."
Harry tries to soothe her by gently putting his hand on her shoulder and says "Hermione, yes that was. I however don't think the house-elves need to punish themselves here."
Hermione still looks mad, but focus back on her book not eating anything although she wasn't full yet as she barely touched her food on the plate. Harry notice Neville wanted to say something, but Neville doesn't. Harry hoped that Neville would gain some confidence but even though he gained some, he didn't gain enough to disagree with Hermione. Harry thinks Neville wants to disagree with Hermione as he would otherwise agree with Hermione and don't lack the confidence to do so. Harry can understand that when Hermione gets mad like this she gets very scary with a bad temper.
Harry says "Hermione, I know you don't want to but if you don't eat it will be bad for you and the house-elves will be sad and afraid they did bad. You don't want them sad do you?"
Hermione nods but says "you are right, but I just can't. Every bite I want to take I think about Dobby needed to punish himself and also see the tears Winky had and begged to let her work for that bastard Mr. Crouch."
Hermione blushed and put her hands before her mouth. Harry teasingly says "well I never taught that nice and proper Miss Granger will use a curse word."
Hermione blushes harder and slaps his shoulder and says "you prat. And you can't disagree with how Winky was treated."
Harry says "I agree Hermione Mr. Crouch was cruel to Winky but doesn't that show that house-elves like to work."
Hermione says "no, Harry. The house-elves are brainwashed to think like that. They are sentient beings and therefore should be free."
Harry sees that Hermione starts to eat but doesn't seem to notice. Hermione has a large smile as Harry doesn't reply thinking she won the discussion until she sees Harry's sly smile. She wonders why.
She asks "why are smiling like that Harry?"
Harry points at her plate and sees that it is empty. She turns around and says "Ronald why did you eat my plate."
Ron says with his mouth full. Hermione glares as she doesn't understand Ron and finds it is gross. Ron swallow and says "I didn't you did."
Hermione glares before turning back while dropping the glare, She thinks and then asks "why didn't you stop me, Harry?"
Harry says "because you needed to eat. Also, this will please the house-elves."
Hermione folds her arms over each other slightly pushing her breasts up when she says angrily "they still need to be treated better."
Harry wants to talk to Hermione but before he can stop her, she has an idea. She stands up and rushes out of the great hall. Harry looks after her with a smile. He makes sure nobody follows her just to be sure. He whispers quietly enough "Dobby follow Hermione and make sure nothing happens."
He feels one small pull on his sleeve where Hermione just sat and is now empty. He sighs and starts talking with Neville about electives until Ron interrupts. He starts talking about Quidditch and mostly the Chudley Cannons. Neville doesn't like it but immediately gets drawn into a question by Fay if she can help her with Herbology. Neville stammers he will and starts talking confidently about Herbology what they already had in class this year and about the book he get from Moody.
Fay seems definitely interested and listened. She even asked a few questions that Neville happily answered with a lot of information that isn't really needed but interesting nonetheless. Harry even noticed a few others from his year and below listens. Ron doesn't listen while he may need it. Lavender and Parvati were whispering and probably gossiping. Ginny listens but immediately takes Hermione's empty seat. She wanted to sit next to Harry but Harry was flanked by Hermione and Neville at the start of the meal.
Dinner finished but Hermione hasn't returned yet. When they enter Gryffindor enters their Common Room they know why Hermione didn't return.
Let's end here for now. In the next chapter, we will see what Hermione came up with (canon complaint), and we will see Amelia and Andi's meeting with Ted, Tonks and Kingsley. We also see one of Draco Malfoy's tantrums although this one is short. Also, Harry tries to let Hermione see the reason for the house-elves to work for a house. If words allow it we see a conversation between Hermione and Ginny about Harry and they talk to those that are interested.
