CHAPTER 21

SUNDAY, AUGUST 29th 1948

Pulling Jasper behind me as I approached the vacated house, I could feel his hesitant curiosity, but at least, he wasn't stopping me even as I pulled out the extra key the house owners had predictably placed under the large planter next to the front door.

"I won't claim myself above breakin' and enterin', but what exactly are we doin' here?" he asked while stepping over the threshold after me.

I looked at him over my shoulder before turning to face him and grabbing both of his hands in mine. "You said I deserved a bed," I reminded him suggestively, and his expression immediately smoothed out with understanding. "My first plan was to find us a hotel, but I saw you'd be uncomfortable with that."

His eyes filled with affection for me and his gaze softened, but there was also his innate intensity which, whenever he looked upon me, made me feel more bare and vulnerable than if I'd already shed my clothes, and I loved it.

"The owners are away until the end of summer. They've been gone for weeks, so their scent should be less overwhelming for you."

Jasper took a cautious deep breath. With the week that had passed since his last kill in Philadelphia, he'd started to show signs of thirst, but even though the color of his eyes darkened infinitesimally, he remained completely in control of himself.

Stepping closer to him, he had to bend his neck forward to maintain eye contact while I almost had to stand on my tiptoes. Our height difference was significant, and there was a tiny part of me that was bothered with it in a way I couldn't quite explain, almost as if my height had always been a sore spot despite the fact I didn't remember why.

"Well?" I asked. "Is this okay for you?"

He cupped my cheeks and leaned down until he could capture my mouth in a kiss that could have restarted my heart, then pulled away just enough to reply while the movement of his lips tickled mine. "The way you care for me and how considerate you are of my comfort is astoundin'. Even if I'd had the tiniest sliver of doubt left that I could fall in love, you're doin' an exquisite job at crumblin' that doubt to dust, my darlin' Alice."

I smiled and wrapped my arms around his waist. "Mr. Whitlock, it sounds to me as if you're saying you love me," I said playfully, already seeing the immediate future behind my eyelids, but I was impatiently giddy to see it happen in real time as well.

"I'm quite certain I do," he said, but I had to push him to say it. I wanted to hear the actual words outside of my mind.

"That you what?"

Jasper gave me his own smile, and then managed to surprise me by unexpectedly lifting me up until our eyes were level. Automatically, I wound my legs around him and hooked my ankles together, then held onto his shoulders to secure myself.

He could have let his hands fall away, but he didn't and instead traced them down from my waist to under the back of my thighs while staring deep into my eyes, touching my soul with his.

"I love you, Alice. For the longest time, I believed vampires were incapable of real love, but you've shown me differently. This past week, you've proven to me again and again what carin' for another actually looks like, and I'm forever indebted to you for givin' me the chance for redemption and showin' me what life can be like. How could I not love you after that?"

Without any caution whatsoever, I absolutely crushed myself against him and sought out his lips for another kiss, my fingers deftly working themselves into his blond strands. The tiny explosions of emotion he emitted as a response of my rather rough handling assured me he not only was okay with it, he actually enjoyed it, and I got further proof of that when he turned us so my still-elevated back was against the wall and wedged me in-between it and himself.

Reaching up with one of his hands to grab mine that was clutching his hair, his strong fingers fit perfectly intertwined with mine as he pressed it against the wall next to my head, and I knew he could feel it too by the way he tightened his grip.

He leaned away only to whisper in my ear. "I can feel your nerves, darlin'. It's okay, let me take care of you."

I did my best to relax and give in to the lust that was already my most prominent emotion. There was no one I trusted more with my body, mind, and soul than Jasper, and I wanted to show him that I really meant that.

"Okay," I whispered, and as soon as the decision was made, the vision I had was of a kind I'd never experienced before because I didn't exactly see anything. There were no images and no colors, and yet, I felt the warmth and tingling sensations it brought me. The only way I could explain it was as if I'd had a vision of my future emotions.

Jasper sucked in a sharp breath in response to both my reply and the sensations I was radiating, and then once again took possession of my mouth. We both uttered moans of pleasure when he pushed me even harder against the wall, threatening to break the structure.

I melted in his embrace at the feel of his lips and tongue exploring and learning, and our quickly escalating, needy sounds filled the quiet house.

Suddenly, he moved us away from the wall but kept me in his arms as he walked deeper into the house, heading toward the first room he could find with a bed. "I'll never get enough of this," he said and pulled back, his eyes deep with longing for me. "Every time I kiss you, all I want is to never stop."

My skin felt alive with a buzzing energy, and I was already growing impatient despite the fact I'd been nervous just a few seconds earlier. Our lips brushed together again, but much lighter this time, barely touching and only leaving a tingle behind. It could barely be called a kiss, but the desire behind it was clear.

A shiver shot through me, and I let out a soft sigh before his mouth once again fully covered mine. Everything in the entire universe narrowed down to the feeling of Jasper's kiss, so slow and intense as he took his sweet time tasting me.

I felt the softness of the mattress under me as he lowered us both down, but it could have been a moss-covered log for all I cared. The bed or our surroundings mattered little to me, but I still found it sweet that he wanted to make this first time special for me, and I appreciated the gesture. But as my lust spiked, and I tried to deepen the kiss to match the building energy inside me, he once again pulled away.

"Are you just playing with me?" I complained, and he chuckled. His expression was equally filled with lust as I'm sure mine was, but there was also a hint of teasing and playfulness.

"Not at all," he said, his voice low, and the vibrations in his chest resounded through my core. "But I intend to make the most of this."

I tried not to smile, but it was futile. "And that means driving me insane, does it?"

"You'll be surprised by what a little buildup and anticipation can do," he said, but it caused me to burst out laughing.

"I'd have to argue that I believe twenty-eight years is more than enough anticipation, wouldn't you agree?"

He leaned down and nipped at my collarbone. "Who said I meant your anticipation?"

I arched up against him, surprised by the intense pleasure from his painless love bite. I wouldn't have expected biting was something he enjoyed, considering his long history with teeth used as a weapon only, but I certainly wasn't complaining.

"Oh, Jasper ..." I said on a soft exhale, and he hummed in delight.

"I love how you say my name like that. It's like you're unravelin' in my arms."

Grabbing his face, I pulled his lips to mine, and he groaned loudly when I closed my teeth on his lower lip and lightly tugged.

"You keep teasing me like this, and I'll take the control," I said, and he smiled.

"I'd love that"—he paused and searched my emotions for the confidence to make my words true, but even as he came up empty, he wasn't disappointed—"next time." His hands slid over my body, past my waist, and under my arms, directing me to raise them above my head, his fingers effectively shackling my wrists to the mattress as he started exploring the rest of my body with his mouth.

His arms were so much longer than mine that he had no trouble keeping me in place while lowering himself even farther and nudging my dress down with his nose and teeth.

"It's your decision whether you want to keep some of your modesty or not," he said, and I bent my head forward to meet his gentle and inquisitive eyes. They were dark with lust with barely a flash of wine red in them. His consideration—no matter how unnecessary—reminded me he was, in fact, raised in the century before this one.

"I intend to spend as long a time as eternity will grant us with you, Jasper," I said confidently. "I have no reservations over you seeing all of me. In fact, I want you to."

He swiftly stood up, bringing me with him until we were once again upright, then spun me around so my back was to him and he could slowly lower the zipper in the back. His movements were so delicate with the fragile fabric, and I appreciated that he kept in mind we'd have to leave the house in the clothes we were wearing, being mindful of not ripping anything.

"I don't think I've ever handled something as frail as this," he said with a chuckle, then pushed it off my shoulders and allowed it to swish to the floor. Next, he carefully studied the brassière I was wearing to make sure he unhooked it correctly since he had no experience with modern women's undergarments.

I itched to reach back for him, but he kept me on my toes with soft kisses on every new inch of skin he uncovered. "Next time, I'll have a second set of clothes for us prepared so we don't have to be so careful," I commented playfully, and he leaned around to capture my mouth in what I was already identifying as his signature, toe-curling kiss as the last threads of my outfit fell away and exposed my naked body to him for the first time.

Despite not knowing my true physical age, I had always taken comfort in my body clearly being that of a young woman, so I tried my hardest not to feel insecure as he observed my modest curves. I must've done a terrible job at it though because he immediately sat down on the bed in front of me, bending his neck back since I now towered over him for a change, and stared at me with the most adoring look known to man as he raised my hand to place a worshiping kiss on the back of it.

"There are so many things I could say right now that wouldn't nearly cover how beautiful you are to me. And I'm not just talkin' about your stunnin' looks either." He smirked and chuckled, which caused me to let out a small giggle. "If anyone should feel insecure out of the two of us, it should be me," he continued on a more serious note.

"Why?" I immediately asked, stunned by his admission.

"Because my past is visible to everyone. They take one look at me, and they'll immediately know what a violent monster I can be. I'm trying to be better despite all of that, so, please, don't think less of yourself because of things out of your control."

I reached out and lovingly traced the scar above his eyebrow. I wanted to point out that his past was out of his control, too, since he'd been manipulated into believing there was nothing else out there, but I knew that wasn't what he wanted to hear.

He wanted me to listen to him, so I did.

"From this day forward, can you promise me to never again be uncomfortable with your appearance? You're the most gorgeous woman in the world, who just so happens to be travel-sized for her own convenience."

"Travel-sized?" I asked with a smile, and he nodded proudly. "I like it," I said, then reached for the remaining pieces of clothing he still had on since we'd gotten a bit off track. "And knowing you find me beautiful is enough and will last me for an eternity."

"Good," he said and grabbed my hips to pull me onto his lap.

I threw my arms around his neck and whispered against his lips. "I'm ready for you to take care of me as you promised."

Jasper groaned and kissed me without any restraint whatsoever. He placed a hand at the small of my back before twisting us back down on the bed with him on top. I moaned when he made his way down my neck, once again allowing his teeth to lightly scrape my skin, and a thrilling surge shot through me from knowing how dangerously lethal he could be, and yet with me, he was as gentle as a summer breeze.

"I need you, Alice," he whispered on an exhale, his hand slowly sliding down my body and in-between my legs.

His touch was electric, and I gasped, immediately convinced I'd never experienced anything similar before because I was certain I would have remembered that.

"Alice?"

I looked at him when he said my name like a question, and I realized he was waiting for me to give him the go-ahead. My eyes shifted down to where I could clearly see how ready he was, and then hooked my leg over his hip.

"I need you, too, Jasper," I said, then shakily inhaled as he started to push inside me, taking one of my hands and lacing his fingers with mine.

He set a tantalizingly slow pace to allow me to adjust to the unfamiliar sensations that still felt as natural and instinctive as seeing the world in front of me. There was no pain or discomfort, only pleasure from being so physically connected to my soulmate, and I moaned loudly at the purposeful way he then thrust into me.

I grabbed onto his muscular shoulders and gave myself over to the exquisite feeling building inside me as he bit back several deep groans of his own. He ducked his head and cautiously wrapped his mouth around my breasts—always making sure I wanted it physically and emotionally—and it sent shivers through my body as the pleasure coiled tighter and tighter.

Just as my vision was about to be realized, he slowed his hips, almost stopping completely, and I sighed in frustration, lifting my hips toward him in search of the edge that was fading back into the distance.

"Why did you stop?" I whined.

"I don't want this to end just yet," he simply said with a smile filled with desire, and then started to move again. I threw my head back and moaned, grabbing onto his shoulder blades as he once again teased me toward that blissful finish.

He repeated that move several times, making me completely lose all sense of time until I couldn't take anymore.

"Jasper, please!"

"Say it again," he said, his voice resonating with a slightly darker and more commanding tone than usual.

"Please," I repeated breathlessly, and this time, as I could feel the pleasure reaching its peak, he didn't slow down. His pace was rhythmic and steady without faltering a single moment, and it was but a short moment later that I shattered into a million little pieces and lived through the odd vision I'd had.

There was nothing in the world but him and the small point at which we were connected. No sound, no sight, no smell, no taste.

Only touch and sensations, and the vision made total sense.

Of course, I couldn't see anything when I was floating through momentary nothingness.

Then, I was reassembled and came back to reality. In some ways, it reminded me of what I'd felt just before I woke up after the change, only infinitely more pleasant.

Jasper rolled off me onto his side and immediately pulled me back into his arms, burying his nose in my hair and kissing my head. "Was it what you hoped it would be?"

I happily snuggled closer to him and smiled widely against his throat. "Only a million times better," I said and just inhaled the scent of him deep in my lungs, fantasizing of staying in that particular moment with him forever.

A/N:

Did this meet your expectations for how Alice and Jasper are together? Did I hit the mark? Miss it completely? Let me know :D

What I have to say is always very fascinating when writing intimate scenes between vampires is that I can't use descriptions many people associate with these types of scenes. Can't use "panting" or "breathless" because they don't get winded. Can't use descriptions of temperature sensations or if someone's soft or their heart beating fast and their blood pumping to … certain areas. ^^,

It's definitely a challenge, but an interesting one, and I hope you feel I did it justice!

Until tomorrow,

Stay Awesome!
