CHAPTER 6:
Kim and Travis spent the next few weeks enjoying a last hurrah together. They spent three days a week doing some of their favorite things.
The first thing the couple did was spend a day mini-golfing. At the ninth hole, Travis was having trouble getting his ball around the loop.
"Ugh, it keeps coming back. I never know how hard to hit it," Travis complained.
"It's okay. It's only a game. Let's just have a good time," Kim said.
As their golf game continued, Kim and Travis had two hole-in-ones each. By the final hole, Kim was ahead by two strokes. The last hole was easy enough, and they each scored a hole-in-one before returning their putters.
That same evening, Kim and Travis were in Travis' backyard watching a movie. Travis' parents owned an outdoor DVD projector, so they thought it would be a good idea to have a movie night under the stars. They were more than happy to enjoy another evening together and didn't even fall asleep once during the movie.
Once the movie ended, they spent the last few hours of the night stargazing. Travis built a fire in the firepit, and they made smores, laughing and looking up at the moon and holding hands. They daydreamed about what life might look like in the future: where they might go, things they might do together if they ended up staying a couple. They held hands and shared kisses.
Before long, it was 1 a.m. - long past Kim's normal curfew, but Stacie had agreed to let Kim stay late at Travis' house, understanding that saying goodbye was very difficult. Stacie's horn honked out front, letting Kim know it was time to go home. Travis and Kim shared one last kiss and a long hug. "This was certainly a day to remember. I wish we had a hundred more days to spend like this," Kim said.
"Me too," said Travis. "I'll never forget this. I'm still not sure I like the idea of going to boarding school, but who knows? Maybe I'll like it there. And we can stay in touch and try to see each other whenever we can."
"Yeah," Kim agreed, holding Travis' hand. "Maybe you will. But I'm really going to miss you."
"I'll miss you too. Let's make a pact that even if one of us ends up meeting someone new, we'll always stay in touch, always be friends," Travis proposed.
"Deal, Kim agreed, smiling. Then Stacie's horn honked again, and Kim ran out to the front yard to get into the car and go home.
On the morning of the 17th, at around 9 a.m., Flo was finally beginning to feel contractions, and she and Unicycle took a cab to the hospital. While Flo and Unicycle had a car, they decided to take a cab instead. Unicycle could have driven, but he wanted to be able to concentrate on Flo and coach her on her breathing without having to focus on driving. The cab arrived in plenty of time while Flo was still having contractions, and they headed to the hospital. Unicycle held Flo's hand all the way and helped her breathe through her contractions. The couple kept going through everything in their heads to make sure they had everything they needed as they waited at the hospital to welcome their new baby.
Around 1:45, tired after hours of contractions, Flo closed her eyes and visualized the baby coming - maybe that would help. Not long afterward, the nurse told her it was time to push. She began pushing, with encouragement from Unicycle and the nurse and the doctor, and 15 minutes later the baby was finally born. After Flo and Unicycle took a family photo with their new son, Flo texted the other Bellas. The text read, "God gave us an angel. His name is Brian Otto Belsi. Mark the calendar; on this day, August 17th, 2027, at 2:22 p.m., he was born!"
