Chapter 37 enjoy
Late March X786
The four babies are all hovering around five months old.
Now, not one but four kids this time. It didn't take long for a children's section of the guild to be made.
They built it next to the infirmary on the first floor of the guild hall.
And the three mothers sit next to them with Wendy and Meredy.
The four kids are all sleeping peacefully in a giant crib to hold four of them.
Leo is napping next to Adrienne, next to Asuka, with her brother next to her.
Needless to say, anyone who enters the guild is greeted by unmeasurable levels of cuteness.
Leo is the first to wake up as he struggles to sit on his own before rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
Then he starts crying, waking the other three. Ultear quickly picks him up, only to smell the cause.
Leo needed a diaper change. He wasn't alone; the other three babies required one thanks to the smell.
The three moms go to work changing their diapers like pros. Then, Leo started placing one of his hands on his mother's chest.
"Somebody's hungry" she carefully takes her son to a cleared-out broom closet and is joined by Kinana and Bisca.
Wendy and Meredy stood guard outside, forcing the guys to steer clear of them.
Bisca felt the most exposed, taking her shirt off, and having to feed two at once.
A few minutes later, Leo and Adrienne switch to the other breast.
Bisca requip two bottles of breast-pumped milk, giving each one a bottle.
"The invention of pumping breast milk for later is a lifesaver when you have twins!" She said, getting chuckles from Ultear and Kinana.
After 15 minutes, all three mothers got everything put away. Then, without hesitation, they placed the babies in the crib, covering them in a warm blanket.
They continue to stare at their kids, still unable to believe they not only made them but are looking at their own flesh and blood.
"When will Niichan and the others be back in Ultear?" Wendy asked as she stared at the four babies.
"When Natsu called me yesterday, he and the other will be back later today. Just hope it isn't too late." Ultear informed.
"Well, I hope he gets back soon. I can't afford to get rusty!" The three mothers look to see Ikaruga sitting at a nearby table, inspecting her sword.
"Can't believe it's been two months since she's joined the guild." Bisca states.
"Feels like it was just yesterday," Ultear added, and the memories of the day she joined play back in her mind over and over.
Flashback start
It's the end of January. It's a run-of-the-mill day. Natsu and fellow new fathers are holding the kid well Alzack held one, and Bisca held the other.
Natsu was making all sorts of silly expressions, getting a never-ending smile from his son.
Ultear is right beside him, leaning on him, wanting to get some much-needed rest.
Then the guild doors open, revealing a tall, slender woman in a kimono with long pink hair.
This gets Natsu's attention seeing a pink-haired swordswoman standing at the guild doors.
His sudden movement wakes Ultear to see Ikaruga standing In the guildhall.
"Where is Erza Scarlets? I demand a rematch!" She says with conviction only for the guild's atmosphere to turn dark.
Everyone's faces shifted to sadness, then she remembered from the news articles she read she supposedly died on tenrou islands.
She mentally tortured herself for the slip. As soon as she saw the guild hall, he desired a rematch that overshadowed everything else.
"Erza isn't dead!" Natsu shouts as handed Ultear their son.
He walks up to Ikaruga with Ultear right behind him. He points her to a nearby table.
He brought her up to speed on how the members on tenrou island aren't dead but are missing for the time being.
This news shows a competitive glint in the pink swordsman's eyes.
"I requested to join FAIRY TAIL!" She shouts, getting a shocked look from everyone knowing her previous occupation.
"If you do, killing people is off the table!" Natsu said with level glares toward her.
"I can do that!" Natsu and Ultear traded glances before looking at her again. A stray drop of sweat went down her forehead.
"So she wants to join the guild?" Macao said, walking up to them.
"Yea, but I'm not sure how well a former assassin will fit in the guild," Natsu added.
"Given your previous profession, you will be supervised for one month. Then, we'll accept you as a member if all goes well!" Macao said with a neutral tone backed up by Natsu and Ultear.
"Fine!"
Flashback end.
Just then, the guild doors open, revealing the three dads walking with shoulders hanging down.
It's clear this string of jobs put them through the wringer. Even Natsu was exhausted. Ultear walks up to her husband to see what's wrong.
"Five jobs with no break in between really drain the mental batteries," Cobra said, getting nods from Natsu and Alzack.
They find their seat at a nearby table when Natsu notices Ikaruga examining her sword.
"No, Ikaruga, I need time to rest!" She adopted a dejected look knowing it was pointless to argue with him.
"I figured you want to help your sister with her swordsmen ship!" Romeo said, walking up to Natsu with a smirk.
Natsu glared at the boy. He hates his pink hair at moments like this.
Didn't take long after Ikaruga joined for people to joke they could be siblings next to their matching hair color.
A quick glance toward Ikaruga tells him they are teasing her with the joke.
And to make things worse, after chatting with Osiris, they are distant relatives. But, of course, he prefers to call her his cousin.
The only good thing about the affair is that the Dragneel family survived secretly for the past 400 years.
To avoid persecution, they were forced to adopt different last names.
The following day Natsu and Ikaruga stood across from each other on the sparring field.
Natsu with his dagger and Ikaruga with her new razor-sharp Katana.
"Ok, the match between brother and sister-" Macao could finish as looks to his side to see a small gut in his cheeks.
Looking behind him, he sees a small dagger embedded in the stone wall of the guild hall.
He looked at Ikaruga with her hand firmly on the belt of her sword and glared at him with eyes that could kill if looked at too long.
Then a shiver went down his spine as he felt Natsu's magic Radiate off his piercing yellow eyes.
Ultear can only sweat drops at this, knowing the two pinkette siblings hate the joke. But, the way they sometimes act with the hair color, you could make that mistake.
Only she can get away with it by adding in-law at the end.
Her attention was returned to her son, who went wide eyes at his dad's reaction.
"Let me rephrase that a match between cousins is about to begin" he gets a nod from the two of them before continuing, "ready set, GO!" He quickly runs back to his seat.
The fight didn't last long before ending into yet another draw between them.
The two found their seats resting after a hard-fought sword fight.
"How's Porlyusica work on your scar?" He asked.
"The one you gave me, fine Not as pronounced as before."
"If I didn't cauterize it, you would have bled to death!"
"Sorry, and once again, thank you…even if it did hurt like hell." She said glances are dark across her collarbone and shoulder.
It wasn't as jagged when she finished healing, With how severe the cut was. Removing it would be impossible.
All that remains from the scar is a clean thin line proving how sharp Erza keeps her blades.
But she learned to love the scar, a reminder of her mistakes so she won't make them again.
"Everyone, I have an Announcement!" Macao shouts from the guild hall stage, getting everyone's attention. "I've decided for the guild to enter this year's Grand Magic Games since we didn't enter last year. So starting right now, when not on jobs, I want everyone to get back into training if we're gonna win!"
He nods agreement from everyone. Many got to the job board while others headed out the front door, no doubt to do some serious training if they won.
"Natsu, Alzack, and Cobra will you participate in the games this year?" Max asked from his seat next to the three in question.
Natsu placed his hand on his chin, pondering Max's question. "Hard to say. I want to because it could be fun, but on the other hand, I don't think I'll be able to keep my head in the game if I'm constantly worrying about Leo." This got nods of agreement from those listings in on their conversation.
"So you three are out for now. Let me know if you change your mind." The guild master said, getting a thumbs up from the three.
That is when Natsu started sniffing the air.
"Did Leo make a stinky again?" Alzack asked.
"No, Macao, we have to talk!" This got a nod from Macao. There is only one reason Natsu wants to talk when he sniffs the air.
The two headed out one of many back doors of the guild.
The person Natsu smelled was Kageyama, formerly of Eisenwald guild, now a secret member of fairy tail and hidden spy in the raven tail guild.
"What do you have to report?"
"List of members and their magic types. Word Ivan is considering becoming a legal guild!" He said with a hint of unease.
"I was afraid of this." Macao states
"We can't let them become a legal guild. If they do it, a possible guild war could start!" Natsu added.
"Nothing solid, but I'll keep you updated if anything new happens," he said, waving Natsu and Macao off.
Before they knew it, the day came to a close for the guild.
Unknown to him and Ultear, a long-lost relative would meet with them soon.
Two days later
Sitting in a train cart alone is a young boy around the same age as Wendy, Sting, and Rogue.
All he has on him are the clothes on his back, a small bag holding more clothes and supplies.
Last but not least two photos, one of him with his mom and dad, and the other is a picture of Natsu and Ultear from a newspaper clipping.
He checks the time in the early morning hours of dawn. He'll be in Magnolia in a couple of hours.
Natsu is sitting on his couch with Leo sleeping in his arms. It's been almost half a year since he was born.
He still can't believe he looking at his flesh and blood. Leo yawns as he snuggles closer to Natsu's natural warmth.
Ultear's currently in the shower wasn't long before she came out with a clean set of clothes.
Natsu reluctantly hands her son, a smile on her face.
Feeling movement Leo opens his eyes only to spout a grin seeing his mom. He started grabbing at her breast.
"Somebody's hungry." Like clockwork, she exposes her breast, offering it to him.
He latches on to getting his breakfast for the day, and after a few minutes, he lets go feeling sleepy before drifting off to sleep.
They change his diaper and clothes and place him in a stroller. Then, with a stuffed dragon to hold, they head towards the guild. They're not alone. Cobra and Kinana join them.
As soon as they entered the guild, the three moms did one last check on the babies before putting them in the crib.
Looking around, both Gildarts and Ur are at the guild today. Probably taking a short break before going to another set of jobs.
A couple of hours later, the 4 kids woke up with teary eyes. They all needed a diaper change.
This time, guild doors opened, revealing a young boy around 14.
He was tall for his age, with early signs of a defined build. He has jet black hair that comes to one side, barely covering his left eye.
He wore cargo pants with a white undershirt with a Denim jacket. They also notice the bag by his side.
When Ur saw the boy, she nearly spits the food she was eating out as her eyes bulged at the boy standing at guild doors.
He's the spitting image of her ex-husband. She looks to Natsu and Ultear, trying her best mentally to prepare herself for the coming revelation.
Macao walked up to the boy "hello, kid, what brings you here?"
"I'm looking for someone."
"And who would that be?"
He pulls out the newspaper clippings. "I've been looking for my older sister Ultear Dragneel in my father's words!" Silence and as all, he got from the room
Ultear eyes bulged out of her eyes at the realization this boy standing before the guild was her younger brother.
"Wait a minute, I have a younger brother. Mother only had me before ice shell. That would mean. He's my father's son, my half brother!" That line of thought replayed in her mind over and over again.
The young boy started to think he had said something wrong and turned around, only to feel an arm on his shoulder. It's Macao.
"Sorry for the silence we never expected…we would see a long-lost relative of a member show up at our guild." He immediately saw the flaw in his words as he remembered the day cana showed up.
"Don't leave the boy standing their Macao. We have a seat over here for you!" Enno said from a nearby table.
He found his pot next to Enno with Macao across from him.
"Tell me a little more about you, young man?"
"My name is Charon Ulric."
Natsu and Ultear look to Ur, who looks away, whistling a little tune to herself. Both mentally say Ur Ulric over and over in their head.
"So Ur/mother loves the letter U," they said mentally before looking back to now named Charon.
He showed them a second picture. He mentioned this is one of him, his mom, and his dad.
Macao let out a sigh before signaling Natsu and Ultear to come over.
It took a little longer when Leo woke up wanting his mom.
The three sat across from Charon. He looks at the photo, then at Natsu and Ultear before glancing at Leo.
"Well, this is awkward!" Natsu said with a nervous chuckle. Then, everyone laughs from the tension finally being broken.
"Hi Charon, I'm Natsu. This is my Wife, your Sister, and our son Leo!"
The two long-lost siblings are at a loss for words. Finally, Ultear handed Leo to Natsu. Leo needed a diaper change.
"So you're my brother!"
"And you're my sister!"
About this time, Natsu returns with Leo, whose eyes are fixated on Charon.
"Look, you have a fan Charon" this gets a chuckle from everyone. Leo's eyes are not wavering on the new person.
It is a no-brainer. He wants to learn about the new thing in his mind in the guild hall.
Natsu looks to Ultear for approval, and she nods in response. Natsu set Charon carefully, handing over their son.
Charon reluctantly takes Leo in his arms. Leo starts reaching for his face and grabbing his hair.
"Ow, Leo, stop" he carefully pulls his hair from the infant's hands. Before locking eyes with infants.
Leo smiles using all his strength and reaches out, wanting to know more about this new person in his small world.
He tried to grab Charon multiple times, wanting to know more, and eventually gave up before reaching for his dad.
One sniff was all Natsu needed to know. Leo wet his diaper.
"I just changed your diaper," he said with a sigh, taking Leo to get another. Everyone laughs at this. And the whole time, Leo was smiling.
A minute later, Natsu returned to Ultear's side with Leo snuggling close, thanks to his natural warmth.
"Charon, I assume you are a wizard or want to be?"
"Yes!"
"What kind of magic do you use?"
"Don't know, I'm afraid, just now started showing signs," he held out his hand before it glowed blue.
This gets nods and looks of amazement from everyone listening in.
The unique part is he's so early that he hasn't gravitated to a specific field of magic. The blue glow tells them he drawing on pure ethernano. It is rare for that to happen.
Typically when someone's magic first appears, a few characteristics indicate what it's close to.
Seeing this, Macao remembers when his magic started to show. The air around him began to heat up whenever he used it.
That tipped off the adults around him that he would use fire magic.
Laki, listening in, remembered how she felt more alive when she was around trees or just greenery.
Many guild mates remember the first time their magic started to show itself.
But to not have no indication off the bat is extremely rare. So much so that they have the potential to excel in certain magic that takes the most experienced mages years, if not decades, to understand.
They all shared a nervous look at the young man's potential.
"Now we have to find a place for you to stay till we can get a more permanent home." Natsu looks to Macao.
"He can stay with us for the time being" He's backed up by Enno and Romeo.
"If it's not too much, ask Charon what led up to you seeking us out?" Natsu asked.
"My mother passed away, but she told me I had an older sister before she died. She gave me this newspaper clipping, so I know what she looks like."
Natsu introduced him to each guild member, but things got quiet when he met Ur.
Hearing her name, he looked confused, hearing she was dead from his parents.
They gave him a brief rundown of how she was now standing before him.
He also made the observations Ultear, the spitting image of her.
With the introduction out of the way, Natsu took his son-in-law shopping for clothes and other things since he had nowhere to go.
It was just the two of them since it was clear to him that Ultear was still processing the realization she had a younger half-brother.
Charon got accustomed to the guild's antics for the next two days. Then, finally, it was decided, for the time being, that he would stay with the Conbolts till his magic fully developed.
The two days were severely needed for Ultear to process having a younger half-brother.
She picked his brain about her father and what he was up to since he left Ur.
Going by what her mother said, her father was a mercenary.
Goes without saying you make a lot of enemies in that line of work.
Apparently, an old friend was in deep with the worst people. Came to him for help unknown he was followed.
They threatened to capture and kill Ur and her infant self.
Eventually, everything worked out, with him and his friend still breathing.
Unfortunately, it took too long when he came back to check on Ur and Ultear.
Ultear was presumed dead, and Ur was training two students.
He decided it was best to leave Ur to her own devices. Eventually, he found the woman who would give him his son Charon.
Unfortunately, a different enemy showed its hand, ultimately resulting in the death of the two siblings' father and his wife.
Under the watchful eye of Natsu, Charon practices his developing magic.
That was when team daybreak returned from another job.
"Niichan, we're back!" Wendy said, running up to her brother and giving him a hug.
That when she noticed the new boy, like the older slayers when they locked eyes, they shared a glimmer.
Natsu is quick to notice this. Only one thought comes to mind "Oh shit!"
On the one hand, he's happy Wendy found her mate. On the other, there is a reason he and Cobra waited till their respective mates were of legal age before going there.
He is not alone. Sting and Rogue realize this predicament moments after Natsu.
Male dragon slayers' human desire to procreate is kicked into overdrive.
He can't even begin to guess what it's like for females. He'll have to chat with Grandeeney about this.
Her teammates quickly whisked her away, wanting to separate the two.
Natsu will have to talk to each of them privately alone.
"Who is she?" Charon said with a smile.
"Wendy, she's a dragon slayer like me, cobra, and her teammates." He said, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Natsu walks to an empty room motioning for Charon to follow.
With the door locked, he told Charon the finer details of being a dragon slayer.
Charon had tomato red blush by the end before feeling a great weight on him.
He looks up to see Natsu with crimson red eyes staring into his soul.
"I strongly suggest you keep your hands to yourself!" He gets a nervous nod from Charon.
Not long after, he has the same conversation with Wendy. Again, her joy after finding her mate is through the roof.
Before her imagination went too far, Natsu brought her back to reality. She gave him his full attention.
"Just because you found your mate doesn't give you the right to do that stuff, am I clear!" he said in a commanding tone with yellow piercing eyes. A shiver went down Wendy's spine from his tone.
"Yes! Niichan."
"Good, but if he gets a little handsy, let me know, and I'll set him straight. But, of course, that goes double for you trying to tempt him. I know Ultear, Ur, Laki, and Kinana give you a lesson in dignity!"
"Understood, nii chan!" he let her go before bringing the news to the three remaining female members.
They all give him nods of understanding, vowing to make sure Wendy behaves herself around him.
Natsu sits down next to Ultear in a secluded corner feeding Leo.
"Guess will have to keep a week-long job on hand for Wendy and her teammates."
"Agreed, they're both 14, so they will have another headache to deal with for the next four years," Ultear added as Leo finished eating.
"As much as I hate to admit it, after they both turn 18, what they do in their spare time is out of our hands."
"Wow, this is a new side of you. I never thought I'd see Natsu!"
"How so?"
"If we eventually have a daughter, I know I can depend on you!" this gets a smile from Natsu before being replaced by a look of horror. Ultear didn't even bother to stop her laugh.
