Hi Readers: Before we begin, I want to apologize over the fact that I haven't been able to write a story for you guys in a while. At least, an original story. And that's precisely why I have decided to do something: revisit my previous story, The Caseys. And while I know that this story is long, I feel like I can still make it better, which is precisely what I plan on doing. I plan on re-writing to story to make it longer, while also changing some things about it. Hopefully you guys like the changes I make. Thanks for reading.
Quick Note: I've decided to write this story in the Greater Chicago area, rather than in Honolulu to have more characters involved.
Chapter One
Welcome Home
May 1st, 2019 (8:30 AM) – Casey Home, Naperville
He finally felt ready to do this. To invite some of his closest friends and advisors to join him here at his home with the hopes of getting some things started for the project he hopes to start with his newfound fortune: a family company. And that's precisely why his friends and advisors were coming, so that they could have their first meeting to start the company; a meeting which his wife had no idea about due to the fact that she just gave birth to their twins Andrew Matthew (they're going to call him Andy after his late best friend) and Lily Marie Casey. And damn, does he already love being a father; there's truly nothing like the feeling that comes with receiving unconditional love from your own child, while also showing it to them in return. He swears, it was as if his heart was about to burst when they placed his little girl on his chest so that he could hold her in his arms, due to the fact that it was the happiest moment of his life; aside from marrying the love of his life, Ms. Gabriela Casey. The mother of his beautiful children, and his forever.
However, like he just said, she has no idea that he was doing this right now; getting things ready for him to have a business meeting, just ten days after she gave birth to their children. Yet, he had some things to do for the sake of the company. Specifically, he has to get some contracts and confidentiality agreements sight; as well, he hasn't had a board meeting in a while, so he feels the need (and the urge) to do so prior to when Kelly and Stella leave to go on a vacation on Saturday (meaning that the rest of his employees are going to need to step up so that they can pick up whatever slack there may be due to the loss of two of his executives). However, he's just glad that he has an equal (if not more) number of staff joining the company as he now has four new permanent employees, which is the real reason why he was awake right now. He had to print some things out, which is precisely what he has in the midst of doing as he sat in his home office this morning; he was printing out some employment contracts and confidentiality agreements to be signed.
But, just who might need to sign employment contracts and confidentiality agreements might you ask? Well, those people would be Doctors Will and Natalie Halstead (who just got married four days prior, yet have agreed to still come to the meeting) for their positions at the Casey Health Clinic, with Will also being an advisor to Casey PTSD Services (which is a subsidiary of Casey Police); his mother Nancy, who is now a seamstress at Casey ELLA Apparel; his sister Christie, as the company's President and Chief Marketing Officer; as well as his niece Violet, who is a summer intern in the marketing department. However, she will not be signing a contract; rather, he just wants to see her. So, he asked that his sister bring her over; that way, she can also meet her new cousins. After all, she's been dying to do that; just like he's been dying to get these contracts signed, due to the fact that he needs to get his employees under contract. As well, they need to agree to work without a guarantee of money (yet); after all, they need to keep the money in house.
He's just so grateful for his lawyers, especially Linda Errs, who is his contracts attorney; she's a great attorney who was able to whip up five employment contracts with easy and precision. Even better, she was able to tailor the terms to his specific requests, which was required at the moment. And those contracts are precisely what Matt was currently in the midst of printing out in his home office. "There, the five contracts that I need to get out." Matt said, while getting up from his office chair; after which, he made his way over to the printer so that he could collect the contracts which he needed and set up in a new gift that he got for all his employees: a new folio, as well as a nice pen that they can use when they have meetings. It was just a huge relief for him to finally get this done right after his workout, as it meant that he could finally start relaxing; something he planned on doing right now as he went to set each employee contract in a folio for his new employees to sign. However, it wasn't long before someone decided to disturb the peace.
The nice peace and quiet that he had here in his office, which was really nice due to the fact that the twins are quite loud at night when they need to eat; and let's just say that the person who disturbed him was not very happy to see him where he was. "Seriously? This is the reason why you wanted to come home? So that you can do business, Matthew?" Turning around to face his mother-in-law after recognizing her voice, Matt let out a sigh; especially as she placed her hands on her hips. "Camila don't give me that. You have to know that Gabby approved this. Do you really think that I'd do this if I didn't get Gabby's approval to do it?" Camila sighed, as she was well aware how much Matt depended on his wife. "I know. But still, you should be in bed helping your wife with the kids." Matt agreed with Camila, well aware that was the case. "I know. But, I also need to do some things for my friends." Camila was curious when she heard Matt say that, prior to asking him what he meant by that in a sarcastic tone. "And what might you need to do for others?"
Taking another breath as he heard the sarcasm in his mother-in-law's voice, Matt took a breath due to the fact that he just knew what that meant; it meant that she didn't believe him right now. So, he decided to just walk out since he needed to get things done. "Camila, believe me or not, but you need to know that Gabby said she was okay with this." Walking out towards the dining room that was quite close to his office, Matt just made his way over to the table with the contracts, prior to pulling out the chair at the head of the table where he has all of the folios waiting for him to put the contracts in. "Matt, your wife just gave birth to Andrew and Lily. By the way, love the names." Matt smiled, as he loves the name that he and Gabby gave to their children as well. "I know, I love them too." Camila agreed with her son-in-law as he said that. "Yes, so why aren't you with your children who you love? Matt, why are you working right now?" Matt sighed. "Because I need to do something for other people." Camila then went to look at her son-in-law.
And by the way she was looking at him, Matt just knew that she still wasn't believing her. So, he decided that he was just going to show her what he just printed out. "Recognize this?" Going to look at the document he just slid across the table, Camila recognized it immediately; it was an employment contract for the company which he and Gabby are creating. "Oh, do you have new employees?" Matt agreed with Camila. "Yes, we do. And Camila, you know that I love my family; but I need help in this venture. And I just…" Taking a breath, Matt looked up at her. "I feel a responsibility to get this done as soon as possible." Taking a breath, Camila could see that her son-in-law was worried about something, which led her to pulling out a chair so that she could sit with him. "OK. How about we restart this? Just take a breath and look at me. Matt, what's going on?" The new grandmother said, while grabbing her son-in-law's hand with the hopes of getting him to open up to her so that he can just relax and take it easy with her right now.
And let's just say that it did the trick, as it immediately got Matt to let his guard down; in the process, it made him open up to his mother-in-law. "Camila, I need to get these signed to make sure that I can talk to people about the company. Talk to the people I trust in helping me with the company. This is the contract you already signed, remember?" Camila then remembered precisely what contract he was talking about. "Wait, this is the employment contract? The one that includes the confidentiality agreement, which allows you to create the company without having to worry about leaking?" Matt agreed with his mother-in-law, as that's the precise contract that he was preparing for some of his new employees. "I have contracts from Will and Natalie Halstead, my mother, and my sister; they all need to sign them." Camila agreed with her son-in-law. "Ok. I get that. But listen, you do realize that it's early and you can take it easy. You just got home Matt. People are here to help you, and I highly doubt that they're going to do anything to sabotage you."
Thinking about it, Matt agreed with Camila due to the fact that he just knew that was the case; the last thing that his family would ever do is sabotage the company he plans on creating, when they can see just how passionate he is about creating it. "I'm sorry, I guess I'm just worried about failing and not working out. Unlike other people, I have money; and people have put a lot of faith in me, and I just feel like I need to help put their minds at ease that things will work out…while also providing them with their $4,000 monthly cheques for living expenses. I know, we don't have income yet; but, I need to make sure that they can live. Also, I have to give them rent cheques and more." Camila agreed with her son-in-law as he told her that, well aware that was the case. "I know. And I'm sorry that I criticized you. If anything, you should be commended for the fact that you've decided to take time away from your kids to make sure that others are taken care of." Matt smiled as he heard Camila say that. "Now, you change your tune?" Camila laughed a bit.
After all, she knows that he needs to laugh a bit. "I just know how much you love being a father, it always brings a huge grin to your face Matthew." Matt agreed with his mother-in-law, while also making the smile that was already on his face much larger. "I love being a dad to Andy and Lily. Thanks again for being okay with us not going with Hispanic names." Camila shook her head, as that was the last thing that was on her mind. "You wanted to name your son after your late best friend, which is admirable; and Lily is just the most adorable name." Matt agreed with Camila, as he couldn't disagree over that. "I know. An adorable name, for an adorable little girl. She looks so much like Gabby." Camila agreed, as that's the truth. "But listen, before I go…I'd like to ask you something. For your contract, I guarantee you a monthly cheque of $4,000 for living expenses in lieu of salary for now…" Stopping him, Camila already knew where this was going. "I'm fine with not getting it yet Matt." Stepping close to her son-in-law, Camila smiled as she hugged him.
In the process, she smelled him. "Now, that's what smells." Matt laughed. "Yeah, I worked out before doing this. Now, I do want to say this first. I hope you know that I am going to still pay for your life. I gave you that credit card, use it if you need anything." Camila agreed with her son-in-law as he said that, appreciating what he just said. "I like that idea. I can do that instead of the cheque." Matt nodded. "With the exception of gifts for the kids. Sorry, but you can pay for those out of whatever savings you have. I am not paying for gifts for my own children, when they don't come from me." Camila agreed with Matt. "Understood. Now, you need to go get ready for today. Take a shower and everything." Matt agreed, as he does. "Yes. Uhm, can you maybe get the plate of fruit in the fridge out for the meeting? Maybe put it and the croissants on the t…" That's when Matt realized something. "Shit, I'm treating you like the help." Shaking her head, Camila smiled. "Matt, I'm here to help. What do you need me to do? I can get everything." Matt agreed.
After which, he decided to tell her. "Croissants, fruit bowl. Also, I need my cheque book from my office to hand them out." Camila agreed. "Top drawer?" Matt looked at Camila as she said that. "I actually locked it in my desk. I love that you…" Putting her hand out, Camila looked at her son-in-law. "You can trust me with your children, but not your cheque book?" Matt then realized that. "Right." Going to grab his desk keys from his pocket, he went to give them to Camila. "Top left drawer." Camila agreed with her son-in-law. "Listen, how about you go to your room and take a nice shower? Take it easy, relax. Take your medicine." Matt agreed, as he needs to do that. While, at the same time he's starting to think about something. "Maybe I should cancel. This might be too much. I want to be a businessman yet…" Camila just looked at her son-in-law. "Matt, take a breath. If you want to cancel, then tell me after you take a shower. Maybe talk to Gabby. You haven't set much up yet anyways." Matt agreed. "Good idea."
Now, that was precisely what he needed this morning: to take a nice shower, take his medicine and do some breathing with the assistance of his new breathing app, which he truly feels so grateful to Gabby for finding for him, due to the fact that it's made him much more relaxed. So relaxed, that he didn't even care that his wife was currently sprawled all over their bed (including on his side of the bed). And that, well it just made him laugh due to the fact that it was just so adorable; especially since (he thought) she was still asleep. And since he thought that his gorgeous wife was still asleep, he decided to make his way over to the cribs so that he can check on the two other loves of his lives: his baby boy Andrew, and his princess Liliana (but they call her Lily). And he swears, that's such a gorgeous name and he's glad that he chose it for her. "Liliana, my adorable baby girl. God, you have no idea just how much I love you my little princess." Matt said, as he rubbed her chest and bent down to kiss her forehead; all the while clad in nothing but his boxers.
After which, he moved over to the crib where his little boy was currently fast asleep; the son they named after his late best friend: Mister Andrew Matthew Casey. God, he is so adorable; and he just knows that Andy would be honored to have a kid named after him, just like he knows that Kelly is jealous that he had a son before him…which meant that he got to "call dibs" on the name. Though, his best friend had to know that he can very well name his own son Andy too; something which he will (obviously) tell him if he complains. But, so far, he hasn't complained. Though, he can just hear him complain soon; just like his wife has decided to complain that her husband has yet to acknowledge that she's awake yet. "Still waiting for my morning kiss from my husband." Turning his head to look at Gabby, Matt smiled as he was very happy to see her awake. "Hey, I didn't know you were awake." He said, as he carried his towel over to the end of their bed; prior to setting it down due to the fact that he wants to be with her for a moment.
And right now, that's precisely where he was about to be as he walked up her side of the bed, prior to sitting down next to her this morning; he sat down next to her and placed his hand on her stomach. "I wake you up?" Grabbing her husband's hand, Gabby agreed with him due to the fact that he did wake her up; when he was downstairs speaking quite loudly to her mother about this meeting. "You're cancelling that meeting." Looking at his wife, Matt was confused. "You said that it was okay." Taking a breath, Gabby went to be honest with the man she loves. "Baby, I was being sarcastic. We literally just got home with the kids; do you really think I want my husband to be in a meeting with our friends, when I need him here to help me with our twins?" Sighing, Matt agreed with his wife as that made much more sense; especially when she added on the following: "Baby, this is our dream come true. You always wanted to be a dad, let's just enjoy it for now." Matt agreed with his wife, prior to placing his hand on her neck and kissing her softly.
After all, that sounds like a really nice way to spend their day. "Matt, I love you; I really do. But, you need to do this for us right now. I know, you want to start this project more than anything. And you know what, so do I. However, me and you have been through a lot over the past year to get to this point. Baby, it was almost a year ago in two weeks that we had that huge fight. The fight over me not being able to get pregnant because of the aneurysm that never was." Matt agreed with his wife as he placed his hand on the side of her face. "I know, and I'm really sorry about that." Gabby agreed with her husband. "I know you are, I do baby. And I know you were scared, but I proved your wrong. And now, we have the life we've always wanted; we have Andy and Lily." Matt agreed with his wife. "You're okay with the name changes, right? I know, I said I would be okay with Hispanic names…but, I just really wanted to name my son Andrew after Andy. I tried to be okay with Andres, I really did but…" Slipping over in bed, Gabby looked at her husband.
After which, she opened her arms as her way to get him to join her in bed. "Come here, you; come lay down in bed with me so we can talk for a minute." Matt agreed with his wife, prior to doing precisely what he was told to do; he joined her in bed so that they could hold each other close as they take it easy with each other this morning. Something that his wife really needed to do right now, due to the fact that she's still recovering from giving birth. And let's just say that Gabby was very comfortable the moment he was in bed and holding her close. And not only did he have his arms around her, but he had his hand on the back of her head as their chests were against each other's. "Now, this is very comfortable." Matt agreed with his gorgeous wife, as this most certainly is very comfortable. "I couldn't agree more." Leaning in, Matt smirked as he took things nice and slow with the woman he loves, his gorgeous wife, Gabriela Casey. "I love you, you know that; right?" Gabby agreed with her husband and smiled at him as she cuddled up to her man.
The man she loves more than anything in the entire world, and who she would be more than ready to spend the day in bed with today. "I want to hold you close right now. I want to do this today. Is there any way I can get that?" Moving his hand to Gabby's back, Matt agreed as she most certainly can (and will) get time with him today. "I'm sorry I tried to call a meeting. I guess, I'm just excited to start." Gabby agreed with her husband. "I know baby, but I want to start things slowly. If we go all in, then we'll get stressed, and we can lose each other." Matt was shocked that Gabby even thought that was a possibility. "Hey, is that something you're worried about?" Looking down, Gabby sighed even though it was. "Hey, that'll never happen baby. I love you, I love the kids, and I am so glad that we have each other. And even better, we're going to have each other forever. We're going to have more kids in the future, just not yet since you need to relax and take it easy. Listen, I'll call Antonio and get him to cancel for us. I'm taking time with you right now."
Gabby smiled as Matt said that. "You're going to take a paternity leave." Matt smirked as Gabby said that, as that's something he never thought he'd get a chance to take a year earlier. "God, I love the sound of that; especially since I never thought I'd get to take one a year ago." Leaning in, Matt kissed his gorgeous wife as he started to take things nice and slow with the woman he loves. "Listen, I'm going to call Antonio and get him to cancel the meeting for us. Right now, I need to be a daddy who takes care of his wife and kids." Gabby smirked as Matt said that. "I love hearing you call yourself a daddy." Matt agreed with his wife, because he loves the sound of it too. "I love it too, because I am a daddy now. I'm your baby daddy." Leaning in, Matt kissed Gabby once more as he took things nice and slow with the woman he loves. "You need anything?" Gabby smiled. "I need you in boxers all day, and I need a massage when you get back." Matt sighed when he heard Gabby say that. "Is your back still bugging you?" Gabby agreed, as it most certainly was.
So much so, that even Matt was worried. "Are you in pain?" Gabby nodded once more, before telling her husband why she was in pain. "I had to get up and put Lily's pacifier back in her mouth." Matt sighed as he heard Gabby say that, before pressing his lips to her forehead. "I'm sorry baby. Listen, I promise to take time off so that you can relax and just take it easy. I'll concentrate on you and the twins for now." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she really appreciates that. "I appreciate that Matt, more than you'll ever know." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, prior to moving his hands to her neck as he leaned over her and just started to take things nice and slow with the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. While, at the same time, Gabby whispered to him. "Can you ask my brother if he has any luck in finding my dad?" Matt agreed with his wife, as he can do that for her. "I promise baby." Kissing her forehead, Matt smiled as he was very happy to be here with the woman he loves. "See you soon."
Gabby agreed with Matt. "Ok. I'll just stay up though. Might look for a place in California we can buy for the winter. Thanks again for starting with this big purchase of this home in Naperville." Matt looked at Gabby as she said that. "Hey, look at me." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that. "I love you, and I love our kids. I want us all to have a really nice home; and that's precisely what this home is. This is our family home now, where I can see us living for a long time. It's the perfect combination of what we both want and need. I want to be close to Chicago, since it's our home; still, we're far enough that this feels like it's not Chicago. It feels like we're in another place, which is what you need baby. I'm sorry again that I didn't hear you when you left for Puerto Rico, how in pain you were over everything that's gone down there. Hell, I even feel better being here. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know you do. Now, breakfast." Matt agreed.
But first, he bent down and proceeded to kiss the woman he loves softly. "Your mom is making breakfast. I'm going to go out back and go call everybody." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, more than ready for him to cancel so that he can spend the day in bed with her, Andy, and Lily. "I love the kids' names, by the way." Matt laughed as he leaned in and kisses his wife. "I promise, in the future we can have a Hispanic name. I just really liked the name Liliana." Gabby agreed. "Me too baby. And I get Andy, because you need that." Matt agreed with his wife, smiling as he took things nice and slow with the woman of his dreams. "You have no idea just how truly proud I am of you. You're a rockstar and a true badass in my eyes, and I hope you know that. Matt agreed with his wife as she told him to go cancel the meeting, which is precisely what he was more than ready to do; he was going to go cancel the meeting, rather than have Antonio do it so that he can speak to everybody and give an update to them about how Gabby and the kids are.
Getting up, he smiled as he went to adjust his boxers, which was a huge turn on for Gabby. "Tease." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, before smiling. "Listen, I'm going to put some sweats on since you need to relax and take it easy. How does that sound?" Gabby agreed with her husband, as that sounds perfect. "Yes please." Leaning over Gabby once more, Matt smiled as he kissed the woman he loves softly; prior to kissing her cheek and pulling away so that he can get dressed and head downstairs.
Reaching Kelly and Antonio this morning as he stood in the kitchen of his and Gabby's home this morning, Matt took a breath as he hoped that the two of them would be okay with him cancelling the meeting. Though, he had a feeling that they will. "Well, if it isn't the CEO; god, I just can't get away from you being my boss." Laughing as he heard Kelly say that, Matt agreed with him. "Last time I checked, you were the one who decided to leave the CFD and join the company." Kelly agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "I know. And speaking of the company, what time is the meeting again today?" However, before Matt could answer that question; Antonio spoke up as he had an idea of what the real reason they were getting this call was. "Kelly, I think there's another reason for this call. One related to him maybe cancelling the meeting." Matt agreed with Antonio, though he was curious as to why he just automatically assumed that was the case. "Why would you jump to that conclusion right away, might I ask Antonio?"
Antonio sighed when Matt asked him that question. "I may have forgotten to do my research for Casey Police, so I have things to do still." Matt agreed. "Not that we were talking about that yet. Today was contracts mostly. I'm still figuring that all out, what I want to do. Anyways, that part of the company might be further down the pipeline since I want to start with stuff that I know the best, as well as the stuff that will benefit the most. So, Casey Fire, as well as the PTSD stuff." Antonio agreed, as that made sense. "Need to spend those millions wisely. By the way, I still love that new place you have out there. Just an FYI, you have until Friday to get rest. Saturday, I'm caving into Eva and Diego's request to meet Andy and Lily." Matt laughed as he heard Antonio say that, while Kelly added on. "God, I still hate that you got the name first!" Matt sighed. "Kelly, for crying out loud; are you that stupid!" Kelly was a bit offended when he heard Matt say that. "Who you calling stupid!" Matt sighed. "Who said that you can't ALSO name your son after Andy!"
Kelly agreed with Matt as he said that, as that made a lot of sense. "Yeah, that makes sense now." Matt just sighed. "Careful, or else I may just ask Cruz to be the head of Casey Fire instead of you!" Kelly stopped him right there. "You do that, then I forbid Stella from being a part of ELLA Apparel!" And that's when Stella commented in the background. "You do that, you don't get shit on our babymoon!" Matt just laughed, as he figured that was the case. "Listen, can we just take it easy and relax? I have a lot on my mind, and I don't want to deal with business too long. I want to concentrate on Gabby and the twins today, rather than work. So, that's why I'm calling you to say that the meeting's cancelled. I'm just going to send you guys the contracts that you can sign and send to Linda Errs after, along with the cheques that you need for moment. I have a lot going on, I'm surprised that you guys even let me have the meeting; especially you Antonio! I mean, we just got home with the twines yesterday. Anyways, Will is mad at me too."
Kelly was confused, as why would Will be mad? "Why's the doc mad at you?" Matt sighed. "He just married Natalie last Saturday." That's when Matt decided to do something, which required him to pull his phone away from his ear. 'Just an FYI Will. Meeting's Cancelled. Enjoy the start of married life with Natalie.' Putting his phone back up to his ear, Matt took a breath. "Listen, you just stay the course with everything. Maybe, let me rest today and I can concentrate on my family. Right now, that's what I need to do." Antonio agreed with Matt, as that made sense. "I get it, and I hope you and Stella have fun Kelly." Kelly agreed. "We'll be at the Cabin, so low reception." Matt smirked. "You must LOVE the sound of that." Kelly laughed. "I made sure that the hot water was working." Matt laughed as he heard Kelly say that, when he got a text from Will. 'Thanks. I hated the idea of having this meeting when I just got married. Yet, here I am, awake when I want to be asleep with my wife. F.U.' And let's just say that Matt was not amused.
After all, he is his boss. 'I'm going to put that to the slip of your finger just this once William!' He said, in reference to the 'fuck you' he just sent at the end of his text, which then led to Natalie texting him. 'Sorry for what my husband said Matt -Natalie.' Matt laughed, before texting her back. 'I'm putting it to the slip of the finger just this once. Careful, or else I take a living expense cheque away next time. Now, I am going to take it easy and go rest with my kids and wife.' Stopping with the texting, Matt put his phone up to his ear. "Where'd you go?" Matt sighed when Antonio asked him that question. "I was dealing with the newlyweds." Antonio agreed, before deciding to ask about how his sister is. "How's Gabby feeling this morning?" Matt smiled. "She's happy to be back in our bed. Her back hurts." Antonio agreed. "Make sure that she moves sometimes. I remember what the doctor said after Laura gave birth, she has to move. It really helped her back before I went back to work. She was pretty much out of recovery when I went back to work."
Kelly agreed with Antonio. "I'd hope she would be after three months." Antonio sighed. "This was the mid-2000s Kelly. paternity leave was only 2 weeks; maternity leave was 8-12 weeks based on the employer." Matt then added on. "Even now, grief leave after a miscarriage is only a week post-surgery. Then, you're back to full duty." Antonio was shocked. "Is that what my sister had to go through?" Matt agreed. "She was back at work pretty much right after it happened." Antonio sighed, as he can't believe that. "Yeah, that's not good. But listen, I'm busy today anyways. I was going to go out with Intelligence to try and find my dad. Jay is going to help out too, so we were literally going to ask to be quick at the meeting. We want to find my dad as soon as possible." Matt agreed with Antonio, as he's glad that he's still doing that. "Tell Jay that I appreciate him helping, even when Alex is pregnant. Hell, maybe I should cancel all work til' we find your dad." Antonio sighed. "Talk to Gabby and see what she thinks." Matt agreed, as he likes that idea.
After which, he went to say goodbye. "I will. Talk to you later." Hanging up with both Antonio and Kelly, Matt let out a sigh as he was about to turn around to get some breakfast for him and Gabby; when he instead heard her come outside so that she could ask him about what he just finished talking to Antonio about, the search for her dad. "How are things in Chicago in the search for my dad?"
