The sky glittered with frosty stars, the soft hum of rushing water could be heard in the silence of the night. The bushes at the edge of the clearing shivered as several cats filled into the clearing, all sitting around a small pool of moonlight at the centre of the clearing. Each of the cats sat down, silently waiting, all of their ears pricked and listening for noise. After a while a cat entered the clearing, she had long light grey tabby fur, which shone bright white in the pale moonlight. The cats already around the the pool nodded respectfully as the she-cat sat down.

"FeatherWish, U'm glad you arrived, the medicine cats will be reaching the moon-pool soon," a large grey tom with wide shoulders and a scarred flank mewed as she sat down.

"As am I, StormTail, I must tell the cats about what we saw," she mewed, glancing around at the cats, who all gazed at her with intent in their eyes and their star-fleck fur rippling in the breeze.

"Who will you show it to, though?" asked LilyRain - a small pretty she-cat with deep chocolate-brown fur and bright blue eyes.

"I have a cat in mind, we all know who it is the best to give to," Responded FeatherWish.

A dark furred tom stood up from the group of cats, his fur bristling indignantly. He looked around at the cats, his green eyes glimmering with disbelief and shock.

"FeatherWish, You cannot be truly giving it to him!" he hissed, " he's only an apprentice,"

FeatherWish's calm orange gaze raked the cats around the pool, her eyes narrowed as she watched how the cats reacted. Some exchanged uncomfortable glances while others kept their faces straight.

"I understand your concern," she mewed,as she heaved herself up off the cold floor, fluffing her fur out against the cold,

"But I believe this to be right, SwallowSpeck, you come with me," she motioned towards a sandy coloured tom with brown specked fur.

Featherwish stood at the edge of the pool, bracing herself and then jumped. The pool of moonlight swallowed her up like a hungry mouth as she leaped, SwallowSpeck leaped after her, the surface rippling as he disappeared under.
