The heroes moved cautiously through Fanghorn Forest, following Dominique. The ancient trees loomed overhead. Casting eerie shadows, and the air was thick with an otherworldly stillness.

Steven Strange's mystical senses remained alert. Scanning for any magical wards or traps that might have been set by The Way or their followers. As they pressed forward, he signaled for the group to stop.

"There's a magical ward up ahead," Steven whispered, his voice barely audible. "We'll need to proceed with caution and find a way to bypass it without triggering any alarms." With a wave of his hand, Steven made the invisible ward glow a faint yellow shine. They were powered by small crystals that hung from the trees.

Ghost Spider, with their acrobatic agility, moved closer to the magical ward and examined it carefully. "I can try to disable it without setting it off," They suggested.

Steven nodded in agreement, allowing Ghost Spider to take the lead in dealing with the magical ward. Meanwhile, Moon Knight and Black Cat remained vigilant, watching for any signs of cultist patrols or guards.

Ghost Spider approached the ward, their web-shooters ready. With a series of precise web shots, they managed to disable the ward without triggering any alarms. With the crystals covered with web, the magical barrier dissipated, allowing the group to continue their advance. They gave everyone a thumbs up, "We're good!"

As they moved deeper into Fanghorn Forest, the atmosphere grew increasingly ominous. The presence of The Way and their followers was palpable, and the heroes knew that they were getting closer to the heart of the cult's compound.

After some time, they reached a clearing where the compound came into view. It was a sprawling, eerie structure built atop the ancient sacrificial altar, as Dominique had described. The compound was surrounded by a high, wooden fence adorned with strange symbols and sigils.

Steven Strange examined the compound from a distance. Using his mystical abilities to gain insight into the magical defenses that protected it. "The entire compound is heavily fortified with magical wards," He whispered to the group. "We'll need to find a way to breach their defenses without alerting The Way or their followers."

The Black Cat, now dressed in the protective gear provided by Steven, spoke up. "I have an idea. I could use my skills to sneak in and disable the wards from the inside. If I can get close enough without being detected, I should be able to disable them one by one."

Moon Knight nodded in agreement. "That sounds like a solid plan. We'll provide you with cover from the outside, just in case. Just be careful, Felicity. I don't know what else they might have added inside since I've left."

Black Cat took a deep breath, her determination unwavering. "I'll be careful. Trust me, I've dealt with worse than this."

With their plan in place, she infiltrated the compound, moved stealthily toward the wooden fence. The heroes watched her go, their hearts filled with hope and concern, knowing that the fate of the cult members and the success of their mission rested in her hands.

Inside the compound, The Way, Sunchild, and Starchild continued their preparations for the dark ritual. Cult members, their faces etched with both devotion and fear, gathered in the central courtyard. The air was charged with an eerie energy, and the atmosphere was tense. The collected artifacts were placed in strategic points across the chamber.

The Way, their eyes ablaze with fanaticism, addressed the gathered cultists. "My children, the time has come for us to ascend to a higher plane of existence. Our sacrifices will echo through the cosmos, and our message will resound for all eternity. Embrace your destinies, for you are the chosen ones."

Sunchild and Starchild stood at The Way's side, ready to carry out their leader's instructions with unwavering dedication. The cult members, caught in the grip of The Way's charisma and madness, prepared for the ritual, unaware of the heroes' presence and the impending danger.

Outside the compound, the heroes watched as Black Cat expertly navigated the fence and entered the cult's domain. Moon Knight, Ghost Spider, and Steven Strange remained hidden in the shadows, their senses attuned to any signs of trouble.

Black Cat landed on the other side and quietly crept around the front of the compound. She saw two cult members who were outside of the latrines. As if she was one with the shadows she snuck past them without even batting an eyelash.

Black Cat came across the first ward, a small crystal glowing brightly. She took it and pocketed it in one of her belt compartments. Black Cat grinned, perhaps she could get some coin for these crystals later.

She moved silently through the compound, avoiding the cult members and carefully disabling the magical wards one by one. Her thief's instincts served her well. Allowing her to move undetected through the eerie and foreboding surroundings.

As the last ward was disabled, Black Cat sent a signal to the heroes outside, indicating that it was safe to move in. Moon Knight, Ghost Spider, and Steven Strange sprang into action, making their way toward the compound's entrance.

Inside the compound, they found themselves in a dimly lit courtyard surrounded by eerie, towering statues and stone structures covered in cosmic symbols. The air was heavy with an otherworldly energy, and the heroes could sense that they were on the right path.

Steven whispered, "Stay alert, everyone. We're in The Way's territory now, and we're getting closer to our goal. Let's move cautiously and be prepared for anything."

They encountered a few cult members who were not participating in the ritual, who were assigned to guard the compound. They made short work of them, Moon Knight managed to take her anger out on them by knocking them out. Ghost Spider bound them in web, before Steven transported them away from the compound to a safe spot near Rix.

As they continued deeper into the compound, they could hear the faint chanting of cult members in the distance, their voices filled with fervor and devotion. The heroes knew that time was of the essence, and they had to stop The Way before the ritual could begin.

Their path led them to the large, ominous-looking building at the center of the compound. It was here that Moon Knight knew The Way and their followers were preparing for the ritual. The heroes approached the entrance, ready to confront the cult leader and put an end to their sinister plans.

They pushed open the heavy doors gently so as to not draw attention to themselves and entered the building. They were met with a chilling sight as inside. The Way stood at the center of a dark, candlelit chamber, surrounded by their devoted followers, Sunchild and Starchild. The cult members chanted in unison, their voices echoing through the chamber, creating an eerie atmosphere. The artifacts were glowing and ominous color of some sort of twisted green.

"Sing brothers, sing sisters, sing fathers, sing mothers, and sing all others. The message must be heard, our word unheard would be an un-blessin'."

The Ghost Spider looked at Moon Knight, "What's with the rhyming?"

"They think it makes them look mysterious and enigmatic. It just makes them look like a pompous a-hole." The Moon Knight led them around the back of the chamber away from the black mass that was happening.

Ghost Spider kept their snickering down as they followed her.

All four of the vigilantes snuck past the congregation and made their way into a back room, where they all got in and quietly closed the door.

"Okay, what's the play," Black Cat asked her compatriots.

"Kill The Way," Moon Knight said coldly.

Steven shook his head, "No."

Ghost Spider agreed, "We aren't doing that Dominique. Killing The Way isn't going to give you your time back."

Dominique growled, "Okay. how about I beat him within an inch of his life?"

Ghost Spider and Steven shared a look and nodded, "Deal, but no killing."

Steven cracked his knuckles, "Are all the remaining followers here?"

Dominique nodded, "Yes, However, I don;t know how we are going to get to The Way with all of them in the way."

"I can handle that," Steven started waving his hands, and started casting a complex spell. "Okay, when I say 'now' open the door and be ready to fight whoever remains."

Black Cat checked her belt and pulled out a better bo staff than she manufactured at Delacroix Hall. It automatically extended out with a press of a button.

Ghost Spider got by the door, readying for Steven's mark.

Moon Knight took two of her Moon Shaped blades from the sigil on her chest and cracked her neck.

Steven Strange continued to chant and weave intricate gestures with his hands, channeling his mystical powers to create a spell. Outside the room, the heroes heard the cultists' chanting growing louder, and the atmosphere in the chamber became more charged with each passing moment.

"Steven…anytime now," Ghost Spider whispered.

Finally, Steven signaled that he was ready. "Okay, on my mark," he whispered.

The heroes braced themselves, their adrenaline pumping as they prepared to confront The Way and their followers.

"Now!"

With a dramatic flourish, Ghost Spider opened the door, Steven rushed outside, and his spell took effect. The room appeared to be engulfed in a blinding, radiant light that spilled out into the main chamber. The cultists shielded their eyes and gasped in surprise, momentarily distracted by the light.

Within a second a majority of the followers were gone. There were only ten or so regular followers, the two true children, and The Way.

The Way adjusted their eyes, and was speechless. Almost all of The Children were gone. "No. No. No, NO. NO. NO. NO. NO!" The Way's furious shouts echoed through the chamber as they realized that their followers had vanished.

The heroes wasted no time and sprang into action. Moon Knight, Ghost Spider, Black Cat, and Steven Strange rushed forward, closing the distance between them and The Way.

The remaining cultists, disoriented by the sudden disappearance of their comrades, were slow to react. Moon Knight and Black Cat engaged the cultists in hand-to-hand combat, their combat skills allowing them to swiftly incapacitate their opponents.

Ghost Spider used their web-shooters to create a web barrier around the remaining cultists, trapping them and preventing them from joining the fight. Meanwhile, Steven Strange focused on protecting the heroes.

They made very quick work of them all, until all that was left was Sunchild, Starchild, and The Way.

Moon Knight started to charge at them, but Ghost Spider stopped her, "Wait a moment, let's try to stop this diplomatically."

She huffed, but relented as Steven Strange approached The Way and the two children. "Just so you're aware, I've put protective anti-beguilement spells on us, so you will not be taking our free will away anytime soon."

The Way stood defeated, and crestfallen. As if a favorite toy had been taken away from a child, Sunchild and Starchild stood in between them, but The Way waved them off. Sunchild and Starchild reluctantly stepped aside, allowing The Way to face the heroes directly. The heroes could sense the desperation and resignation in The Way's expression.

Steven Strange spoke calmly, "We've stopped your ritual, and your followers are gone. It's time to put an end to this madness."

The Way's voice wavered as they responded, "You don't understand. This was our only chance. Our only chance to stop him. To stop his evil ways. To try and bring an end to the suffering."

Ghost Spider stepped forward, their tone compassionate. "What do you mean? Stop who?"

Moon Knight, though still wary, walked forward and brought down her hood and mask, "What was this all about? Explain it to me, you owe me that!"

Black Cat kept a close eye on the situation, her agility ready to react to any sudden movements from The Way.

The Way took off their robes and showed the sores and lesions on their body. "This…this is his way of making sure I remember…"

Dominique looked at The Way. "Who? Remember what?"

"King of the Gods, blessed is he, gifted with that All-Sight. All mighty is he. The fiend of the fell, King of my personal Hell. Xanad!" The Way spat the name of Xanad.

Everyone drew closer upon hearing Xanad's mention of Xanad's name sent shivers down the heroes' spines. Xanad was and is, the 'King of the Gods', as his worshippers called him. The God of Universal Law and Order, he was not to be tricked with.

Moon Knight's voice was filled with urgency and concern as she pressed further, "What did Xanad do to you?"

The Way's gaze was haunted as they recounted their story. "Xanad, the King of the Gods, cursed me with this affliction. He did it to punish me for seeking to reveal his true nature, for attempting to expose the darkness that resides within him. He wanted to ensure that I would never forget the consequences of defying him."

Steven Strange, his mystic senses attuned to The Way's plight, could sense the truth in their words. "Xanad is a formidable entity, one that we cannot take lightly. However, that doesn't justify the path you've taken."

The Way's shoulders slumped as they admitted, "The ritual was meant to send a message, one that would leave this solar system and would reach the corners of the universe. Someone would have heard, and they would have come, and they would kill Xanad!"

Black Cat stepped forward, her expression sympathetic. "Look, maybe we can help you, but you must be willing to surrender and face the consequences."

Sunchild and Starchild, who had been silent witnesses to the conversation, exchanged uncertain glances. They had followed The Way out of loyalty and fear, but now they faced a choice as well.

Ghost Spider who was silent was starting to feel a bit unwell. Just the name of Xanad had started to give him a headache, as if something more was at play. Ever the voice of reason, they recovered quickly and added, "You can start by releasing the people you've held captive and undoing the harm you've caused. It won't absolve you of your past actions, but it's a step toward redemption."

The Way looked torn, their inner struggle evident. "I... I don't know if I can. I've come too far now."

Moon Knight's voice softened, and she extended a hand towards The Way. "You don't have to face this alone. We're here to help you break free from Xanad's influence. But you have to be willing to take that first step."

The Way looked at The Moon Knight and her hand. They slowly took her hand, "I am sorry Dominique."

She sighed, Dominique still had reservations, but knowing their reasoning behind her torment was a start.

A swift slice across her neck shocked her. Dominique saw The Way holding a hidden blade they pulled from their sandal, it was coated in blood. Her hands clutched her neck as she tried in vain to keep her blood flowing out.

Dominique dropped to her knees, she coughed up blood, and before Dominique could look up. The Way forced their blade through her skull, snuffing her life out in an instant. "The message must be heard!"

Dominique fell to the ground unceremoniously with a thud. A shocked silence fell upon the room as The Way committed this shocking act of violence. Ghost Spider, Black Cat, and Steven Strange stared in disbelief at the lifeless form of Dominique at The Way's feet. The air was heavy with a sense of betrayal and horror.

Ghost Spider, recovering from the shock, acted swiftly. "YOU BASTARD!" Fueled by a rage rarely seen, they shot a web at The Way, attempting to immobilize them and prevent any further harm.

At the same time, Moon Knight and Black Cat charged towards The Way, their faces filled with anger and determination.

Steven Strange, his eyes filled with grief and anger, channeled his mystical powers to create a barrier of energy around Dominique's lifeless body, preserving it and preventing any desecration.

Sunchild and Starchild attacked The Black Cat and Steven Strange. They made sure to keep them away from their leader, as they fought the Ghost Spider.

The Ghost Spider launched themself at The Way, and tackled them into the nearest wall and started wailing on them, letting their anger and fury fuel their emotions as they thrashed the Way. Tears stung at their eyes as they kept beating The Way up.

"Why? WHY?! TELL ME!" The Ghost Spider roared as they landed another punch on The Way's face. A couple of teeth flew out with that last hit.

As Ghost Spider unleashed their fury on The Way, the atmosphere in the confrontation became tense and chaotic. The Way, now battered and bleeding, struggled to defend themselves against Ghost Spider's relentless assault.

Meanwhile, Steven and Black Cat were engaged in a fierce battle with Sunchild and Starchild, each side fighting to gain the upper hand. Steven's sorcery clashed with Sunchild's solar energy blasts, while Black Cat's agility and reflexes were put to the test as she dodged Starchild's hands from touching her.

The Ghost Spider's voice echoed with anger and despair as they continued to pummel The Way, demanding answers."TELL ME! TELL ME WHY!" Now they were hitting the Way with their robotic arm, and The Way, now barely able to speak through their battered state, managed to gasp out a few words between blows.

"I... had... no choice," The Way wheezed, blood dripping from their lips. "It was... the only way... to save... us all..."

Ghost Spider's rage didn't subside, but their curiosity was piqued by The Way's cryptic words. They paused for a moment, allowing The Way to catch their breath but maintaining a tight grip on them.

"What do you mean, 'save us all'? What was all this for? What to summon some force from the universe that might not even exist," Ghost Spider demanded, their anger mingling with a growing sense of urgency.

The Way, struggling to form coherent sentences, took a deep breath and whispered, "Freedom... it's coming... and I... had to... prepare... the way...to…open the way."

They flung The Way on top of the seal which was coated in Dominique's blood, unwilling to hear anymore of their excuses. Alex took off his mask as he readied themself to start thrashing them again.

The Way looked up at them and gasped, "You! I…know you!"

Alex stopped in his tracks as they looked at The Way allowing them to continue before they pummeled them.

"Efexis Temple, the fire, the collapse….do you…not…remember?"

A searing pain hit Alex's head as he fell down to their knees. Their memories flashed to a temple, erupting into flames, a tall man adorned with many eyes, and a voice telling them to run. All those memories flashed before their eye as they writhed in pain.

Alex took a deep breath to shake themself out of the flashes of painful memories. They got up only to see that The Way was at the seal and it was glowing.

"HEY!" Alex shot their web at The Way's feet and started dragging them away from it.

"No! Please…the message! It…must…be heard!" The Way quickly spoke into the light at the seal, right before Alex pulled them forcefully away from it.

However the seal erupted in a ball of light as a beam of energy shot out from the seal, through the roof, and up into the night's sky into the confines of Space. After the mysterious energy disappeared the Way erupted into a crazed laughter.

Alex, still holding The Way demanded answers once more, "What have you done? What was that beam of energy?"

The Way, weakened and battered, struggled to respond between his maniacal and pained laughter. "It's... the message... to…the beyond... It's our only hope..."

Alex's grip on The Way loosened as they tried to comprehend the situation. The battle around them had ceased, and everyone's focus was now on the mysterious beam of energy piercing the night sky.

Black Cat, and Steven Strange had defeated Sunchild and Starchild, and exchanged uncertain glances as they watched what had happened.

"What was the message?!" Alex demanded an answer from The Way. "What was the message?!"

"I'll never tell," The Way, already victorious, had elected to shut up.

"Have it your way!" Alex wasn't in the mood, and they continued to pummel The Way, their rage and frustration grew. However, their assault was interrupted as Steven Strange and Black Cat approached, trying to stop the relentless beating.

"Alex, that's enough!" Steven shouted, his voice carrying an air of authority. "Alex! Stop! We need to know what The Way knows, but violence won't get us the answers we seek."

Alex wouldn't let up from the Way, so Steven had to physically restrain Alex. "Alex enough! Alex enough! They're done!"

Alex struggled against Steven's grasp. "Let go! They deserve nothing! They…killed her…" Alex started crying.

Black Cat added her voice to the plea, "He's right, Spider. At this point if you kill them, you'd be giving them what they want."

Alex was still filled with anger and confusion, but they reluctantly stepped back from The Way, trying to regain their composure. Steven let them go as Black Cat went to console them.

The Way, though battered and defeated, continued to laugh, their mania unabated.

Doctor Strange, with his mystical powers, restrained The Way using magical bonds to prevent any further escape attempts. "You're going to pay for this."

"Am I? I go to jail, bring the guards under my control, escape, and do the whole thing over again! Like clockwork!"

Steven frowned, he was afraid of that. That would make containing them more of a challenge. Before they could speak on the matter, the windows of the temple shattered.

Alex saw what was thrown through them, four small pumpkins, adorned with maniacal faces of insanity. They swiftly put their mask back on, grabbed Steven and Black Cat and pulled them behind an adjacent stone wall.

The pumpkins exploded in a shade of fiery red and yellow. It shook the building to its core, as it blew apart the wall that the windows were attached to.

Atop her ebony glider, came the living embodiment of Chaos, Strife, and Discord. Driada, otherwise known as The Green Goblin.

"Well, well, well." Driada cackled as she looked around. "Did I miss the party?!"

The Way groaned as they got up off the floor, the rubble strewn about them. They were in no condition to keep laughing.

"What do we have here?" Driada leapt off her glider and approached The Way. She examined The Way with a wicked grin. "Seems like someone had a little too much fun without me. Care to explain what's going on, dear?"

The Way, still struggling to recover, managed to utter a few words. "Go to Hell….Driada! Accursed harpy!"

Driada surveyed the chaotic scene with a wicked grin on her face. Her emerald eyes fixated on The Way, who was struggling to rise amidst the debris. She couldn't resist adding to the turmoil.

"Looks like I arrived just after the grand finale," Driada taunted, her voice dripping with malevolence. "You've definitely stirred up some trouble, today."

Alex, still in their Spider persona, clenched their fists, ready to spring into action if necessary. Steven Strange and Black Cat, though wary of the new arrival, were equally prepared for whatever might happen next.

The Way, still weakened and battered, managed to muster a defiant glare at Driada. "You…won't stop…me, Driada. The message… the message has been sent. You're too late! Hope has…been restored!"

Driada's manic laughter joined the cacophony of chaos in the makeshift temple. "Hope? Oh, how I love a good dose of hope. It makes the despair all the sweeter."

Ghost Spider, Steven Strange, and Black Cat remained hidden behind the stone wall, watching the unexpected turn of events unfold with caution. Ghost Spider's breath quickened, and they clutched their chest, struggling to stay hidden and keep their panic in check. Steven Strange and Black Cat exchanged concerned glances as they noticed Ghost Spider's distress.

Unable to contain their rising panic any longer, Ghost Spider's vision began to blur, and they fought to control their breathing. It felt like the walls were closing in, and the world around them became a chaotic blur of colors and sounds.

Ghost Spider was lost in the throes of a panic attack, their world spiraling into a dizzying abyss of fear and anxiety. Ghost Spider struggled to find their anchor in their storm of emotions.

Steven gently put their hand on their chest and pulsated warmth and calming magic through them to whispered softly, "You're okay Alex. Breath, you're okay."

"Halt foul temptress!"

Steven and Black Cat peeked around the corner one more time to see Sunchild and Starchikd rush out to protect their leader.

Driada turned her attention back to them

"You shall not touch one hair on their head! If you seek death then…" The Green Goblin threw one of her Pumpkin bombs at them, and laughed in delight as they burned.

Steven and Black Cat retreated back behind the wall, and Steven went back to help Alex

Steven turned back to his friend, "Focus on your breath, Alex." Steven said calmly, his voice a soothing presence amidst the chaos. "Inhale slowly with me. One, two, three... and exhale. Good, keep going."

Ghost Spider attempted to follow Steven's instructions, albeit shakily. They synchronized their breathing with his, trying to regain control over their racing heart and racing thoughts.

"That's it," Steven encouraged. "You're safe here. Remember, you're not alone."

Black Cat chimed in, her voice gentle and reassuring. "We've got your back, Spider. You're stronger than this."

Slowly, with Steven and Black Cat's support, Ghost Spider began to regain their composure. The world around them started to come back into focus, and the overwhelming panic began to recede like a distant storm.

After a few more minutes of controlled breathing and supportive words from their allies. Ghost Spider's panic attack began to subside. They still felt shaken, but they were no longer overwhelmed by fear and anxiety.

Ghost Spider looked up at Steven and Black Cat, their gratitude evident in their eyes. "Thank you," They whispered, their voice trembling but filled with relief.

Driada sneered as she circled The Way like a predator closing in on its prey. "What was all this about little man? From the looks of that beam of light I saw, you were sending some sort of message to the beyond? Why?"

The Way, still battered and weakened, shot back with a hint of defiance, "You'll never...understand, Driada. This is bigger than you or me. It's about the end of your world!"

Driada laughed, her cackles echoing through the temple. "Oh, how noble! But you see, I don't care about the world. I care about chaos, about tormenting those who seek hope."

She looked at The Way's bonds, and chuckled, "What are these? Some sort of mystical bonds?"

The Way was tight lipped. Steven peaked around the corner, ready to cast a spell to get out of there, just in case.

Driada struck The Way across the face, "Are they still here?"

The Way was still silent, and refused to speak on the matter

As Driada and The Way engaged in their bitter exchange, it became clear to Ghost Spider, Steven Strange, and Black Cat that the two adversaries had some history with each other. Their animosity toward each other ran deep..

Driada finally grew tired of the banter and made her decision. She walked over the broken glass, and grabbed The Way by his neck and lifted him off the ground, her grip tight and unyielding. "You know what? I think it's time we have a little family reunion. An old friend of yours is getting impatient, and I'm sure he'd love to see you again."

The Way struggled in her grasp, his face contorted with both pain and defiance. "You won't break...me, Driada. I won't give...you the satisfaction."

Driada's grin widened, and with a swift, fluid motion, she activated her glide, leapt onto it, and soared toward the shattered windows, still holding The Way, "Oh, you'll see. You'll see just how long you can resist before you beg for mercy."

Driada cackled as she rode off into the night with The Way as her captive. The chaos in the temple had subsided, and the night air was thick with tension as Driada, with The Way in her clutches, vanished into the darkness. Ghost Spider, Steven Strange, and Black Cat were left to process the aftermath.

"The coast is clear," Black Cat said as she turned back to see Steven help Alex to their feet.

Steven Strange, concerned for Alex's well-being after their panic attack, "Are you alright, Alex?"

Ghost Spider nodded, still feeling shaken but gradually regaining their composure. "Yeah, I'll be okay. Again, thank you, both of you." They took theor mask off to breath a bit better.

The three walked over to the center of the ruined central compound.

Alex looked at Steven, "Where did the followers go?"

"Outside the village of Rix. Hopefully, The Way's influence on them has disappeared." Steven walked over to the body of Dominique and he sighed. "I should have been faster, I should have…"

"Don't do that," Felicity said, she walked over to him and held his arm. "Don't go down that road, Steven. We all knew the risks."

Alex ran over to the destroyed wall and began vomiting. Steven and Black Cat went over and rubbed their back. "You're okay. You're fine, let it out."

Afterwards, the three heroes went over to the body of their fallen comrade. Steven took the protective shielding off. Once the shielding was down, a spectral form of Dominique got up from her corpse.

Alex looked at her ghost with a melancholic smile, however that smile was replaced with a look of confusion. When they saw the soul of Dominique rose from her dead body as well.

"What the…"

"Alex, what is it?" Steven asked them, feeling something was wrong with the atmosphere. "What do you see?"

"It's Dominique, her ghost and soul, they have left her body, but…something is different!"

Alex was surprised to see the ghost, and the soul of Dominique merged together into one ethereal being. They had never seen nor heard of this ever happening before. The fusion of Dominique's soul and ghost fizzled with an otherworldly power that Alex had never seen before. The ghost/soul fusion of Dominique then faded away from Alex's view.

'"Alex? Talk to us, what happened," Felicity asked them.

"I'm not sure…but I don't think we've seen the last of Dominique," Alex had a small smile grace their face.

They turned to Dominique's body and went over to it. Alex closed their eyes, and gently pulled the knife from her skull. In an instant, her body started to combust, ashes rose from her body and swirled around the three heroes before being scattered to the winds outside.

Alex sighed, as they dropped the knife, "I want to go home now." They were tapped out, physically and emotionally.

"You've done more than necessary Alex, I'll get a portal ready. I'll call the New Oros Constabulary and deal with everything else."

He looked at Felicity, "You can get out of here as well."

"No, I at least want to help a little bit, and who knows maybe there will be a few baubles that can just go missing before the Constables arrive."

Alex chuckled, but then looked at Steven, "Do you want me to stay and help…clean up?"

"No, you're good Alex. Go home," Steven opened a portal for them.

Alex said their goodbyes, and put their mask back on before going through the portal.

They were outside of their bungalow. They sighed as they swiftly got inside.

There the weight of the night's events still hung heavy on their shoulders as they entered their home, ready for some much-needed rest and reflection.

Inside their bungalow, the atmosphere was serene. A stark contrast to the chaos and turmoil they had faced moments ago.

Alex sighed deeply, the weight of the night's events pressing down on them as they closed the door behind them.

They took a moment to reflect on Dominique, their fallen comrade, and the mysterious circumstances of her passing.

The memory of her ghost merging with her soul lingered in their mind, leaving them with an unsettling sense of curiosity and unease.

Alex's thoughts then turned to their own well-being. They were physically and emotionally drained from the night's events, and they knew they needed time to process everything that had happened.

They took off their mask allowing themselves to fully embrace the vulnerability of their true identity.

In the quiet solitude of their home, Alex let their guard down and allowed their emotions to surface.

They grieved for Dominique, a comrade and friend who had been lost in the line of duty. They felt the weight of responsibility for their city and the ongoing battle against chaos and madvillainy.

With a heavy heart, Alex sank into their favorite armchair, their thoughts drifting as they contemplated the uncertain future that lay ahead.

The events of that night had left a lasting impression, and they knew that their journey as a hero was far from over.

For now, in the quiet of their home, Alex could find solace and begin the process of healing and renewal.

With their mind and body relaxing, they soon fell into a deep slumber.

However, unbeknownst to them, a visitor came.

"Alex?" Dave Algird knocked softly on their door. "Alex, are you in there? I heard about the disturbance at Delacroix Hall. You told me you were attending the function there, something about a food bank?"

Dave sighed, and teleported into their child's home through one the many shadows in their home. "Alex, are you awa…" Dave looked around and saw Alex on their favorite armchair….and they saw the Ghost Spider's suit on their body.

It hit him at that moment. Why Alex had always left their shifts at the Tavern as soon as they could, how at times they could not account for their whereabouts during certain nights, and the injuries. Oh God, he had lost count of the many injuries he knew that Alex had gotten, and deflected on where they'd gotten them from. He walked over to his child, and gently traced their face with a finger holding back tears.

Dave got a blanket from Alex's linen closet and placed it over his sleeping child, tucking them in with a tender touch. He watched over them for a moment, a father's concern etched on his face. He knew the risks that came with being a vigila…a hero, and now he would always fear for Alex's safety.

With a heavy heart, Dave quietly left Alex's bungalow, giving them the rest they so desperately needed. He stepped onto the porch and allowed his emotions to wash over him. The weight of the knowledge that his child was The Ghost Spider, a hero fighting against the forces of chaos, was a heavy burden to bear.

Dave couldn't help but shed tears, a mixture of pride for his child's bravery and fear for their safety. He knew that Alex was strong and determined, but he also knew that the world they lived in was filled with danger and uncertainty.

As he sat alone on the porch, the night breeze whispered through the trees. It offered a small measure of solace. "Oh Davie." The ghost of Goron watched his beloved struggle with his revelation. "I would have told you if I could, but it wasn't my place to tell you." He knelt beside his husband. He looked out onto the night's sky with his Davie. "If you only knew the good they've done as the Ghost Spider. The lives they've saved, and the people they've helped. It would alleviate the discontent in your heart."

Dave knew that he couldn't change who his child had become, and he respected their choice to be a hero. However, that didn't stop him from worrying, from hoping that they would always return home safely.

In the quiet of the night, Dave found himself grappling with the complexities of parenthood and the love he felt for his child, Alex Algird, the hero known as The Ghost Spider.
