The day of Snow White's funeral:
Emma Swan held Hope tightly as Killian had the umbrella over them. The rain poured as Emma leaned against Killian, putting her head on his shoulder in sadness. "I know you cannot go through this alone, love." He said to her and then added. "I'm here for you." He paused as he looked at the coffin. "Your mother was such a kind and pure soul."
"She truly was, Killian." As she said those words he made a sad smile.
"I'm sorry I was so stubborn a few days ago. What happened to your mother made me realize so much. We need each other, Swan. You won't go through this alone. We'll do this together."
He placed his hand on hers as he saw tears form in her eyes. "You are right. I can't live without you." She told him.
"And I you, Emma. These few days without you taught me one thing. I want to always be by your side."
"And I want to always be by yours, Hook. I love you."
He smiled as she snuggled her head closer to his. "And I love you."
They both looked outward at the coffin of Snow White. The dwarves had gathered in their own group to the side. Henry was beside Regina sharing an umbrella while David had the two year old toddler in his arms.
Emma Swan now spoke to break the silence. "She was Mary Margaret. She was Snow White. She was my mom. She loved us so much, all of us." She told them in a loud voice. After a long pause, she couldn't even get the words out because she felt as if she couldn't speak. "I- I can't do this." She ran away from the crowd, Killian chasing her.
"Emma!" Killian yelled at the woman as she continued to run away from the funeral. "Emma, come back!"
She turned toward him as he finally caught up with her. He realized tears were streaming down her face now as she repeated her words. "I can't do this, Killian. I can't do this."
"You have to for your own mother. She would want you to be at her funeral."
"Killian, I just can't believe-" She broke down in tears as she hugged him. "I can't believe my mom is really gone." She sobbed as she clung to him.
"It will be okay, love."
"I hope you're right, Killian. I can't believe she's gone." She repeated as Hook wrapped her in his arms.
Emma thought. My mom can't be gone. She worked too hard. She was a hero and heroes always get happy endings.
One week after Snow White's funeral:
Emma and Killian sat at their dining room table both in silence. They were the only ones there, discussing their worry about David. The next thing they knew, they heard a knock at the door. Emma quickly got up from the table to answer it. Emma opened the door to find Regina at the front doorstep. "Regina?"
Regina sighed as she glanced at her friend. "David isn't in his right mind and neither am I."
Emma turned her head toward Killian who walked over beside her, near the door frame. Both now looked concerned. "You have to talk to him, Emma. You are the voice of reason for him right now." Regina said.
Emma thought. I don't know if anyone can be the voice of reason for him. He lost the love of his life.
