Thank you guys so much for continuing reading this story, let's just say this chapter is where things get interesting...
The group arrived with weapons armed, on top of the ruined, upon they see the sky is blocked by massive surges of wind making it hard to see. They look around to see the sight of Dvalin...
Then the dragon himself rise up from the middle of the tower, delivering a mighty roar that breezes them as they take cover. Everyone grunted, making their stances. Suddenly besides Dvalin, a few Abyss Mages appeared.
"Your efforts will be futile!" A Cryo Mage mocks the group.
"We'll handle the monsters. Go save Dvalin." Diluc declared Lumine and Venti. The Abyss Mages waves their staffs, summoning elemental projectiles.
"Go!" Zandra yelled as Lumine and Venti heads off to confront the dragon, one of the Mages tries to pursuit, but its Cryo shield got conducted by an electro attack shot by Zandra who aimmed her finger gun at the target.
Diluc and Jean avoids the attacks, and using elemental attacks to weaken their shields...
At the battle of Mondstadt City, at the outside many warriors fought against their foes... Knights taking on the Hilichurls, while the Vision Holders deal with the big foes. Despite their powerful advantages, some of them slip through the defense and coming to the city...
Amber shot a one of the monsters, notices from the behind, "Some of them are coming to the city!" She calls out of worry.
Xavier stabs down a Mitachurl and sees the invaliding enemy, "Jonathan!" He yelled out of his comrade, as the archer run to the city's gate. Rosaria sees him coming and goes back as well.
"Keep holding the line!" Eula stated as she takes down more enemies.
"They just keep on coming!" Bennett exclaimed, as Sucrose summons a wind spirit at the force. Then rocks raised up from the ground by Albedo, creating more blockage.
The Hilichurls enter the city, there are some knights inside, that are dealing with the rest. However the enemies felt they are continuously spawning to no end. One of them is about to attack the building... Only to be shoot by an Cryo arrow, revealing the shooter to be a fair skin short girl with pink hair and blue eyes, and notably she has cat ears and a tail, then there on her the waist of her outfit is a canteen that carries a Cryo Vision.
Her arrow gained the attention, but they are distracted once taken down by a large slash. Another girl, taller but as big, she wears a maid outfit covered with armor, she holds out her greatsword as her grips firm. Her olive green eyes and her grey hair slightly blown by the breeze gaze at her foes. She may not be ready, but she is ready to face the foes down.
Then more gets shot by Geo arrows, Jonathan arrives shooting them, one came close but he retaliate with his bow as a melee knocking before delivering a arrow pull killing it up close. Then Rosaria came and in blitz speed she takes them down with ease in one slash, as the maid is shocked by her combat skills.
"...Don't pause, here they come." Rosaria calls out as she and Jonathan turns back, then the enemies are still coming.
"Right!" The maid nodded, readying her sword. The cat girl slightly scoffed, already know this but she did not bother to reply as she aims her bow. They are coming forward swinging their clubs...
Diluc jumps of away the explosion, Jean summons a powerful wind surge, seeing this, his sword emits flame mixing Anemo and Pyro elements instantly destroying their elemental shield before finished off. Dvalin bellows a loud roar, then a massive glow comes from the clouds, a rain of anemo arrows coming down.
Everyone saw it coming, and avoided the attacks, barely. Zandra notices despite it is over, the ground is glowing, suddenly feeling hurt... "Urgh, what is this!?" She exclaimed. Venti notices this.
"Everyone! We need to make the next stop!" Venti channels his remaining Anemo energy, everyone understands his words rush towards him, then a moment passed... They are lifted by the wind blast.
Everyone summoned their wind glider, Jean, Diluc, Lumine, Venti, Zandra, and Paimon are on the right. As they glided there, Venti thanks to his perception slows down... Notices the spikes on Dvalin's back, it's glowing purple and looking a lot worse than last time he saw him...
The group landed, Lumine gaze trying to figure out- "Traveler Lumine!" Venti's voice calls out, interrupting her. "Those purple spikes on his back! They must be poisonous blood clots that have coagulated on his wounds..." He explained.
"That must be the source of corruption!" Jean assumed as Venti nodded.
"That's right, we just gotta knock Dvalin down and attack it!" He stated.
"How can we just knock him down?" Zandra questioned with slight worry.
"I am familiar with his tactics." Venti explained. "When he closes up, distort him with elements, it'll hurt him, but not enough to kill. Then Lumine will deal the rest."
Everyone complied, Paimon gasped seeing the Dragon is coming at them, "Look out!" She yelled. They noticed as he swoops in, swinging his claws and snaping his mouth, he flies past the platform that is damaged, luckily everyone is safe and off-ranged.
"As soon as he misses his attack he'd have no choice but go up close personal!" Venti yelled, and words spoken true, Dvalin landed, griping the platform with his front claws. He reel his head back and lunges at the group.
They jump out of the way, as he snaps his mouth. Jean and Diluc jump from the left side, while Venti, Lumine, and Zandra are on the right. Immediately Dvalin sees them readying their weapons, Diluc's balde emits flames while Jean unleashes a wind blast, combing into a fiery attack. Then Zandra, summoned her hologram clones, grabbing onto her as powerful Electro builds up, with Lumine and Venti charging up their Anemo attacks... Unleashing a laser combined with an Electro infused swirl.
Both attacks assault the dragon on both sides, creating massive explosion. It is immediately clears out as he flews off. Then a few more Abyss Mages swoop in, Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, and Electro...
They begin to attack the group, as Dvalin flies from afar, his mouth charges with win energy, firing it at the platform, where Zandra is near. The blast managed to take her away and was about to fall off... Until Lumine grabs her, and pulls her in.
"We'd given our all..." Zandra huffed, Lumine gazes at Dvalin, Venti grew worried by this.
"We did, he's keeping his distance." Lumine pointed out. "I need to get close..."
"Right." Venti nodded. "I'll extract and condense the pure Anemo orbs for you on the other side."
"Alright, we'll protect you from these jerks!" Zandra stated as the Mages are now attacking them, they avoided them, then spilt up. Lumine and Paimon goes to the edge of the platform. While Venti and Zandra support Jean and Diluc with the rest of the Mages.
There, it is... The orbs created by Venti, she grabbed it then the Anemo energy builds up, creating a current. Lumine summons her glider, then reaching upon the sky, Paimon holds onto Lumine scared, but knowing her best friend, she'll protect her.
Dvalin sees the gliding traveler, then he blasted two sphere projectiles. Paimon yelped as Lumine tires away, all thanks to Venti's boost. They flew past her, as it exploded with energy. Then her palms glows once more, she fired multiple energy blasts at the Dragon.
He flew away, but is on pursuit by her thanks to the Glider enhanced by Venti.
At the platform, the rest fought the mages, one of them notices Lumine form afar, a Hydro Mage is about to shoot out a bubble to trap her... A laser went through, a big electro explosion occur, destroying it. Zandra being the shot it, gives a thumbs up.
Lumine seeing it, nodded as she heads closer and faster to Dvalin... Then caught onto the tail, her hand griped as he sways around, trying let her go. But his momentum, caused her to finally landed on Dvalin's back, there is the blood clots.
Like the teardrop crystals, she is ready to purify it, channeling the energy she once did... One of them begins melted. Dvalin reacted, creating a louder roar that sounds in great pain. Venti turned to hear his anguish.
"Dvalin... I'm sorry this is hurting you..." He muttered, "Hang on, just one more!" He yells out to Lumine.
But the pain, enrages his corruption even more... He flies higher above the sky, upwards, leading Lumine and Paimon to slip, but she holds the little fairy's arm, not letting her go as she manages to hold onto the dragon.
Zandra witnessing this, then turns to Jean, Diluc and Venti who finished off the remains of the Abyss Mages. "Lumine needs help!" She exclaimed, then she immediately got a plan. "Venti, send me up there, and we'll bring him to you to stun him!"
"I don't have enough power to reach there." Venti replied.
"I can help, Venti." Jean nodded, "Zandra are you ready?" She asked.
"Anything to help a new friend, just like Amber." Zandra smirked.
"This better work..." Diluc readied his sword, Jean smiled as well as Venti. They both channel their Anemo energy, underneath where Zandra stood, she opens her wing glider, before she is launched much greater.
"Ahhh!" Paimon yelped as the flying upwards continuing on and on... Lumine's grip, slips off. Both of them is about to fall but they glided, however they are hovering down, Dvalin from a distance charges energy from his mouth... Blasting an energy blast, quickly reacted to drop her glider down and open again...
But she did not expect he come at her swinging his claws, that sliced the glider down. Lumine gasped as Paimon yelped as she tries to chase her as she falls down.
The fall continues to drop, until it, stops...? Lumine realized she is being grabbed. By none other as Zandra who smiled.
"...Hey." She smiled, giving an impression.
Lumine sighed, "Really?" She asked.
"Right, save Dvalin, then friendship." Zandra assured, a roar occurs again. She stares at Dvalin flying at them, not having the power boost of the Anemo Archon, she then emits five holograms, spit off. Each Lumine use their anemo powers to thrust them to different directions.
Dvalin sees many targets, he flies at one of them, snapping his jaws at them, but it is a fake, as it phases and Electro energy impacted the dragon but not much. Then, continued to attack the rest of the clones, not realizing, until he felt it...
The real trio are on him, hanging onto him. Zandra and Lumine nodded, they'd hope Dvalin can forgive them... They unleashed their combined element attacks on his head. This distort Dvalin as he flies around, swaying around, Lumine and Zandra holds on tightly even more, even grabbing their hands of each other.
They soon needed to guide them, Zandra aims her finger guns at one of the wings, it didn't damage him, but it irritates him. Changing his flight paths irrationally, the two continues to direct him straight into the platforms.
Diluc stand firm, his great sword covered in flame, he runs forward, seeing they are leading Dvalin to them... He jumps, then swings his sword, summoning a giant flaming bird! It hits, engulfed into a explosion. Then later, he falls onto the platform, Lumine and Zandra sighed in relief same with Paimon.
"Did that...?" Zandra muttered.
"No, he's still alive, but you need to hurry up finish the last one." Venti pointed out, Lumine nodded as she purifies the last blood clot... Suddenly, the platform crumbles by the aftermath of the sheer impact.
"This place is gonna collapse!" Paimon panicked. The massive quakes, caused them ot loose their balance, then it finally broke down. They begin to fall down...
But then they were landed safely by Dvalin himself, he has regained control! He saves everyone and flies away the lair...
The battle of Mondstadt still enrages on, Eula slashes down more with ease. The fighting has gone for a long time... That is until, she notices just now... The numbers are getting few.
Amber notices it as well, "Hey, they are getting low..." She stated.
Xavier stares, they are right, there are no reinforcements coming. The Knights even spoke out, tired from the long overdue battle.
"Is it over?" One of them questioned. Kaeya then looks up the sky, it seems the storms has settled down, bright evening sunlight shines upon them... And notably to their surprise, the dragon to them Stormterror, Dvalin arrives...
"It's Stormterror!" A female knight exclaimed, there was slight worries but Kaeya smiles, the dragon is not attacking much to their confusion...
"Is he, not attacking...?" A knight wondered.
"Then..." Another one spoke, then Amber came to the conclusion.
"Acting Grand Master did it, and the Traveler, they all did it." Amber smiled, as she cheered rasing her bow in the air. "They did it!"
With her words, joined with the fact Stormterror is no longer the attacker, they begin to cheer. Albedo remains stoic, while Sucrose sighed in relief, joined by Mika and Amber cheering. Inside the city walls, the remaining knights and few rookies are also relieved of this victory, with the city having minimal damage.
From the sky, Dvalin continues to soar swiftly, everyone was staring at below the great view of the region land.
Venti smiles, "It's been a while since we flew like this together, huh, Dvalin?" He asked his old friend.
"...Barbatos." Dvalin mutters with sudden grief, "Just now... Why... Why did you not ask me to protect you like the last time?" He questioned.
Venti softly chuckles, giving a small pat. "Because... Dvalin. Not listening to the Abyss Order doesn't mean that you have to listen to me." He replied. "It's all about Freedom. If demanded by an Archon, that's no freedom."
"...But I, I am no longer part of the Four Winds..." Dvalin speaks his worries.
"Even if that's so, you still protected us regardless." Venti assured. "Now, spread your wings of freedom and go with my blessing."
"Barbatos..." Dvalin sighed, but then his tone retains a small positive from his voice. "You're really the Anemo Archon..."
Venti smiled once more, glancing at his friends... Diluc and Jean watching with a smile while Zandra points at something for Lumine and Paimon to see.
From the ground, Xavier watches Dvalin flies off, he has something to speak with the Anemo Archon...
They have returned, as Jean has announced the Stormterror threat was quelled, along clearing the misunderstanding of his origins. The people of Mondstadt are safe and sound, even more lively as possible.
Night occurs, at the Goth Grand Hotel Zandra gives a shoulder hug to Lumine who has gotten use to her antics, hiding his small smile.
"Well, nothing but a satisfyingly break till the celebration." Venti smiled.
"Yeah, Paimon is gonna enjoy the feast!" Paimon cheered.
"Can't wait!" Zandra joined.
"Now that your problem is over..." Xavier stated as Venti turns to him.
"Aw, come on, have one day of relaxing!" Venti winked, looking at Xavier's unfazed expression. "Look, I'll give the 'thing' alright? Besides had a small talk by your dear friend Lumine wants me to return the Holy Lyre."
"..." Xavier sighed. "Don't make me regret this."
"Okay!" Venti gives a thumbs up. Meanwhile Lumine forgotten how good times it is, recalling the last time meeting Jean...
A few minutes ago...
She and Paimon are in Jean's office, she along with Lisa and Amber are there as Jean speaks. "Thank you Honorary Knight. With the Stormterror threat being over, I have requested some help who will help you find your brother."
"I'll be making Missing Person posters around Mondstadt and other regions." Amber remarked. "Soon they'll find your brother."
"Thanks..." Lumine smiled, she is very happy... This is better than being alone, she has more friends and they are willing help her find her brother. "I really am grateful for your gratitude."
"Anything to do for what you've done." Jean smiled. "Though I have two favors..." Lumine listens for it. "The first one would be to return back the Lyre, despite the..."
"Ah, right." Lumine nodded as she and Paimon worried about the current status, she needs to tell Venti about this.
Then Jean said the second one. "And, while the Stormterror threat is over, I fear the Abyss Mages' threat is not. They'll soon find ways to try attack Mondstadt. It's too much to ask for..."
"It's fine. Just hope Xavier is okay with this." Lumine remarked, she'd prefer Diluc than him.
"Yeah, after all, you'll be leaving, right?" Amber asked, Lumine nodded, jus because she got help doesn't mean she wouldn't stuck around. Plus Xavier has his plan about Gnosis or something from Venti as well, along the other Archons...
"Indeed! We gotta go to our next destination!" Paimon smiled.
"Well, we would always welcome you! Wherever you may go, and wherever the wind may blow." Amber smiled as Lisa joins in.
"I'd definitely miss you cutie." Lisa waved.
Lumine nervously sweat dropped by Lisa, "Of course..." Then she leaves the office as Paimon joins in.
And now currently, Lumine, Paimon, and Venti goes back to the Cathedral to return back the Holy Lyre. Entering inside, there they meet a girl wearing a nun-like outfit that is more light pure color, have ash blonde hair, gray-blue eyes, and fair skin.
"Ah, you must the ones who dear sis- I mean Acting Grand Master returning the Holy Lyre." She smiled as she introduced herself. "I am Barbara, the Deaconess of the Church. May the Anemo Archon protect you. I want to thank you all on behalf of all of Mondstadt for your assistance!" She smiled. "So, did you bring the Holy Lyre with you?"
"Well..." Paimon muttered nervously.
"Oh, don't worry! I'm not here to collect a rent!" Barbara assures. "The Church has always received special funding..." Before she can continue, Venti shows the lyre... In it's damaged form. The three sees her expression shows friendly innocence to bloody murder shock.
"AAAAAARGH! THE HOLY LYRE!" Barbara screamed as she clasp her hands. "Oh, Lord Barbatos... Even if I atoned for these sins for the rest of my life..." She prays, not knowing Venti is the Lord Barbatos. "It would still not be enough!" Lumine and Paimon witness the sudden 180.
Venti sighed as he begin to do something to the Lyre, then it glows. Somehow, it is repaired, leaving shock to others.
"Huh!?" Barbara exclaimed. "It's fixed?!..."
"Huh? Let Paimon see!" Paimon is also shocked, but Barbara takes the Lyre before she can touch it.
"No!" Barbara yelled, as she tries to calm down with irritated tone. "I don't know how you managed to fix it, but you'll never touch the lyre again!" She then leaves.
Venti chuckled, "Well, we better get going, and I gotta give the 'thing' back." He said.
"Wait!" Paimon calls out. "How did you repair that!? If that worked why didn't you done it before?!"
"Well... I didn't technically fix the lyre..." Venti softly chuckled. "That magic I did... Isn't going to hold forever..."
"WHAT?! YOU TONE-DEAF BARD!" Paimon exclaimed angrily.
"Well, I gotta go meet your big old meanie friend!" Venti heads off.
"Hey! Don't go!" Paimon chases him as Lumine sighed and follows them...
They go outside, but suddenly, a sudden energy explosion blasted them away. The three are on the ground, Lumine widen her eyes seeing Paimon, "Paimon! Are you okay!?" She goes to her, shaking her, causing her eyes to open, dizzy.
"Ugh... Paimon has a headache..." Paimon muttered.
Lumine sighed in relief as Paimon regains her mind, then she checks up on Venti, who is unhurt by the damage. His expression however changes to serious... She turns to see where he is looking at...
It is a tall figure, a mechanical humanoid, revealing it's dark brown colors, as it's arm is a cannon, being the one caused the attack. It's face is not human, showing merely a helm and a glowing visor.
"So... This is the one, that defeats the Stormterror..." A robotic male voice spoke out of the figure. "How, convenient..." Lumine stares at the thing, who was that person?
"Eh!? Is What kind of Ruin Machine is that?!" Paimon regain her clear mind, seeing the thing stood front.
"What do you mean?..." Lumine mutters out loud.
"Heh, no matter..." He raised his cannon, but then a blast recoiled his arm, flinching him. He glares at the shooter, Zandra herself.
"Uh, guys, we have company!" She calls out. Then Xavier and Jonathan came, the robot turns to the incoming trio.
"Well, well..." The figure chuckled at the sight of Xavier himself. "If it isn't-"
Then a blur from his view, he immediately raised his arm, that summons its blade, blocked a strike from Xavier's polearm. He pushes back, causing him to move back, before stopping. He charges against the robot, swing his weapon, which leans back, ducks another swing, then catches it before backhanding him.
"Get out of here guys!" Zandra yells to Lumine, Paimon and Venti. Then she runs to the side, firing Electro projectiles, but the blasts barely impacted its armor. The three are worried, but they soon decided to find the exit.
However, Lumine noticed behind... Two hooded men came out with their blades, but she unleashed a wind blast, knocking them back. However, suddenly another elemental wave blasted them from the other side. They take cover, however Paimon got froze and blow away.
The ice block that froze Paimon slides down, as Xavier tries to attack the robot, he ducks back the spear blade hitting his neck. Then delivering a punch right at his face, then right before he fired missiles from his back onto Zandra and Jonathan who are pushed back by the explosions.
Venti covers his face, but then notices his feet is encased of ice. Lumine tries go, but the two men came back and restrain her each arm. They subdue her, as another figure arrives. A tall woman with pale skin, platinum-blonde hair, and light gray eyes. She wears a black earring on her left ear and a black mask that covers her right eye. Then she is accompanied by two purple Cicin mages...
"At last, Mondstadt's rodent ruler in the flesh..." She spoke out with a sinister smile. "Scurrying through the streets, looking for leftovers... Mondstadt calls this a God?"
Venti smiled, despite the situation. "Resident rodent... Beats invasive vermin—"
He is then slapped by her, "Don't you dare speak back to me, insolent bard." She chided.
Then Venti, using his powers, unleashed a wind blast, that knocks a few back even the lady, but the ice still remains stuck in his feet.
The woman scowled, "Absentee archon of Mondstadt..." Then she smiled. "How impotent you have become..."
"That smirk you wear looks out of place..." Venti remarked. "Did you steal it from your master's face?" Before he'd react... She came close, forcefully grabs Venti as she whispers to his ear...
"Should have held your tongue." Then a powerful shockwave as she knocks out Venti. Then holds out, something that is floating on her palm, a small chest piece, that is golden with turquoise energy of Anemo following within. "So. This is a Gnosis?" She gaze at the item. "Wouldn't be caught dead wearing this ugly thing in public."
"Beauty is a waste... When the beholder has no taste..." Venti muttered as he closes his eyes.
"Venti!" Lumine yell as Xavier widen his eyes when he sees this during his conflict with the robot. He tries to go but his foe smack him at the head, causing him to flip onto the ground, flat. Jonathan, notices and takes an aim at the woman, but the robot's other hand turns in to a wrecking ball and swing it, shooting it out, as it is attached by the chain. It hit him, launching him away, crashing him into a building.
"Well, we have what we came here for." She stated. "Come. Before our dear Favonian friends arrive..." She walks off. "Leave nothing for them to find."
"Of course, my lady..." The robot speaks with a mocking tone. Then he gets shot but didn't got knocked by the attacks from none other as Zandra who has recovered, and is charging her enemy before not summoning her clones. The robot scans them and knows which is the real one, the first one phases through him, didn't attack. The second came, a fake one again... The third... Real. He then gives a quick punch right at her waist causing her to cough out, before getting launched.
The Xavier came behind, but he grabs his weapon hand, summoning the blade on his other arm. Then he strikes at his armpit, and slashed at the gut, then push kicks him. Xavier holds his wound... Before getting punched in the face again... Sending him straight into the ground, breaking it.
Xavier grunted in pain, his expression scowl with anger... He tries to get up but the robot places his foot on his chest. "Five Hundred Years of waiting, and this is what you've become?..." He mocks while aimed his cannon at him. "How disappointing..."
Lumine sees this, and with emotions and tension builds up. She unleashed her Anemo powers, releasing the men's grip, the two immediately left. As she readied her sword, jumps behind him... But he turns instantly grabbing her halting her mid-jump. The hand transformed into claw that grabbed her griped tightly causing her to struggle in pain, as she dropped her sword.
The robot cackled, "You've been getting some new animals, Xavier! Oh how exciting since our last encounter..." Then his cannon charges up and aims at the struggling Lumine who trying to break free of his metallic grip. "As for you... Consider this your first warning... Lumine..."
Then she witness the cannon emits a dark purple energy blast flashes from her eyes... Everything's gone dark...
