A few days later:
Regina Mills was in the bathroom at her own house peering at her reflection in the mirror. She heard the cold water hitting the bottom of the tub from the shower as she stepped out of it, forcing herself to get some clothes on, even though tears threatened to trickle down. She stared at the knife on the bathroom counter. Her thoughts overwhelmed her, continuously until it felt as if she couldn't breath.
Throughout the day, her mind was racing. She supposed it was because the memory of Jefferson plagued her mind. The memory of Mary Margaret weighed heavy on her mind that day. Her thoughts and emotion were spiraling.
Why couldn't I save Snow? How come I was too weak to? She died because of I couldn't save her.
She let the negative thoughts engulf her mind as she looked at the knife, questioning if she should use it. Tears streaked down as she looked back at the mirror, staring at herself. She couldn't even recognize the face peering back at her. She felt lost, like she was slowly drifting away from reality. She couldn't bear the feeling, the feeling of shame, the feeling was so strong she didn't even know if she wanted to live with herself anymore. She knew her mind was going insane. She knew she wanted to die. She felt as if she deserved to die.
Her thoughts fixated on Jefferson and the words he told her. You're nothing. She replayed his voice in her head until she responded. I caused Mary Margaret so much pain, pain that was meant for me. She thought. Seconds passed and her anger grew. She finally took the knife and cut the blade in her skin. She slowly drew the blade across her wrists. The angrier she was the deeper the cuts got. She saw the blood and felt the physical pain it caused. Her emotions instantly dwindled down as her senses focused on the pain she caused herself. In a way, it seemed as if the pain felt better than all the emotions that continued to run loose in her mind.
There were days where she was home alone and hurt herself. She would always heal her body with magic after she was done so no one would ever notice.
As Regina focused on the pain, she heard a yell from down below. It was Charming. "Regina!"
"Leave me alone!" She screamed with a shaky voice and stained tears.
He ran up stairs quickly and found her in the bathroom with the door locked. "What's wrong? Open the door right now!" All he heard was Regina's whimpers of pain and cries over the shower water. He heard the woman fall to the floor with a thud.
Within seconds the man forced the door open to see her with only her bra and underwear outside of the shower on the bathroom floor, covered in blood. Blood spilled all across the floor with her wrists slashed and a small kitchen knife in her hand cutting across her wrists, her arms, and even side.
"The hell, Regina?" He yelled as he saw the woman in tears, laying her body against the wall of the bathroom. As she ignored him, she started cutting her side once more before he forcibly grabbed her hand and took the knife, throwing it elsewhere. "First Snow and now you. What is going on?" He asked as she just sobbed and then gazed back toward him. "This isn't you."
"I didn't save Snow. She's dead because of me. I need to be punished." She paused as he gently reached his hands to hers, tears now streamed down his face at the mention of his dead wife's name. "He would always punish me." He then knelt with Regina and held her as she sobbed through her tears.
Tears streamed down his cheeks as the woman surprising laid her head on his chest, still in deep thought. "Because of what I did to him and to other people I hurt. His daughter and Mary Margaret."
He raised his hand, wrapping one arm around her shoulder. "We need to get you to a hospital."
"Please, just let me die like Mary Margaret. Just let me die. I was the one who should have died in the first place."
"I need to get you help!" He panicked.
She shook her head weakly. "Just let me die, David. It's for the best. Everyone knows it would be better if I was gone."
"Oh, Regina that's not true. Emma needs you. Henry needs you. I need you." He hugged her tightly as she only numbingly sat there on the floor, still.
He directly called Emma on his cell. "Hello."
"Emma- it's Regina. She's hurt. She needs-"
"I'm fine, Emma."
"No you're not!" David yelled back at Regina. "Come right away to her house!" He said to his daughter. He ended the call to see Regina push away from him.
"I don't want Emma to know about this, to see me like this!" Regina yelled.
"You were the one that hurt yourself, Regina. You need help."
Only seconds later Emma showed up, healed her and then scolded her on how someone would now have to look after her because of what she tried to do. "I can't believe you would do this! First, my mom and now you acting like this! We can't even leave you alone anymore."
"She can stay with me." David said.
"No. I don't need to stay with anyone. I'm fine here alone."
"You are fine here alone?!" Regina slightly jumped at her friend's words causing her to feel a little frightened. "You did this to yourself alone!" Emma huffed in frustration. "You're staying at David's. I'm not having a day where Henry comes over and sees you dead on a bathroom floor." Regina's tears began to flow down again at Emma's words, shaking her head, okay.
A week later:
Regina laid on the bed of what used to be Mary Margaret and David's but now was only his. She sighed getting up to find Charming cooking breakfast. "What are you doing?" She asked, her voice low and groggy.
"I thought I would cook us breakfast."
She rubbed her eyes and casually sat down at the table. "This is new. You're finally actually doing something for a change." She said in an attitude but he remained content.
"I thought you would want something to eat. You haven't been eating."
She sighed. "You think this is going to change me staying here? Change something between us?"
There was silence until Charming spoke up. "What do you mean?"
"I didn't ask to be saved. I didn't asked to be over here. I didn't ask you to sleep on the couch and you leave me to sleep in your bed." She paused. "I told you to let me go, to let me die."
He stopped what he was doing, looking at her frustrated. "I couldn't! Why do you do this? I'm trying to help you. I'm trying to get better for you but you are the one that just keeps getting worse!"
She huffed in irritation.
"Why? Why can't you accept that I want to help you?"
"Maybe because I know no one could ever want to help me!"
"I want to help you. I can't lose you like I lost Snow!"
"And why not?!" She finally yelled back.
There was silence for a few minutes as he finally put the breakfast on the table and sat in a chair across from her as they both ate silently. After a while he answered the question with a sigh. "You'll think I'm crazy."
"We've all been acting crazy lately."
He took a deep breath and spoke. "You remind me of her."
Regina practically choked on her food. She knew exactly who he referenced, Mary Margaret. "I'm nothing like her."
"I know. It's strange that you remind me of her. I guess I see you as my second chance to make things right. I can't let you die like she did."
"David, you can't think of me as if I'm Mary Margaret. I'm only going to let you down. Like I said I'm nothing like her. Yes, we were friends and we supported one another. But David, you and me are opposites. You know this. I can't change for you. I will always have my past with me and I'm not just talking about Jefferson ether. I'm talking about the Evil Queen. You know the kind of person I was. Snow and you both did."
He sighed. "I know."
"So why can't you just leave me alone?"
"I guess a part of me is longing for someone to fill the void that's missing." He tried to be honest.
She sighed. "Yeah I know how that feels. When Robin died it was like a part of me died with him. I get it, Charming but you are only going to hurt yourself if you are looking for me to fill that void because I'll never be able to."
