Weiss sat alone in her room, the sterile surroundings only amplifying her sense of isolation. It was a familiar feeling, and not one that she particularly liked. Her eyes kept drifting past the strange medical machines that kept making an annoying beep. It was getting old real fast.
The door opened, and Dinah returned with a tray of food and a change of clothes. Weiss kept her facial expressions guarded.
"Food and a change of clothes." Dinah announced, setting the tray on a small table, and placing the small bundle of clothes beside it. "I brought something simple, since I don't know what kind of food you like."
Weiss eyed the food warily, it was a sandwich with some pink deli meat barely hidden between two slices of bread. A decent sized bowl of fruit and a glass of water was next to it. It looked like something Ruby or Yang would eat. "What's the catch?"
Dinah gave her a small smile. "No catch. Just trying to make you feel more comfortable. You must've been through a lot. You lost a lot of blood."
Weiss pressed her lips together. "Thank you." It was rare, people didn't usually help others out of the goodness of their heart.
Dinah sat on the edge of the bed, her face looking a tad more serious. "You should eat up, you must be starving." The blonde reminded Weiss of Winter, just a little.
Weiss nodded, and not even a moment later the tray was seated on her lap, and devoured the sandwich with several small bites. She was hungry, not a brute. "Where am I?" Weiss' eyes kept drifting to the camera at the far end of the room.
Dinah nodded. Her small smile never left her face. "You're on the Watchtower."
Weiss raised an eyebrow and moved onto the fruit bowl after taking a long sip of water. Her throat still felt dry. "The Watchtower?"
"Let's make a deal. For every question you have, I'll ask one in return, and we'll answer each other honestly." Dinah's voice was soft as she spoke. Weiss still didn't trust her, especially with that camera in the corner, but it was the best option she had without Myrtenaster and with her depleted aura.
"Fine." Weiss' pristine white teeth snapped an apple slice with ease. It was sweeter than she expected. "What's the Watchtower?"
"I think it's my turn to ask." Dinah said, raising an eyebrow. The blonde, who was somehow prettier than Yang, was right, much to Weiss' annoyance. Weiss nodded after what felt like an eternity. She'd play nice for now.
"What's your real name, Ruby Rose?" Dinah said teasingly. She didn't sound aggressive or mad that Weiss had lied to her during their first meeting. That was good, it should get Weiss accurate answers to her questions.
"Weiss Schnee."
"She's good." Oliver whistled, staring at the screen in Bruce's office. The legendary Batman hated visitors without prior approval, which made it even more fun to annoy his fellow Leaguer. Barry was better at it though.
"Black Canary's way of an interrogation takes much longer than J'onzz scanning her mind." Bruce answered. He was staring at the screen, taking in every bit of information that the huntress revealed. It didn't take the World's Greatest Detective to know that the white haired girl was telling the truth, mostly. "It is less invasive, which while slower and not as reliable, will ensure that we won't alienate Weiss."
The belongings that had come through along with the 'Huntress-in-Training' were easy enough to guess. She had a white device that must've served a function similar to a phone, and had a unique snowflake engraved on the back along with her name in German. And then there was her gun-sword, with the revolver hilt being filled with strange colorful powders that were locked up in one of the Watchtower's labs, along with her red crystal earrings. The actual blade itself was covered in old Germanic runes.Bruce still hadn't revealed the translations his fancy machines came up with.
"J'onzz would have refused." Oliver scowled. "And would'veI agreed with him. We have no idea where she's from, and she hasn't committed any crimes. As far as we know, she's a victim."
Sometimes, Bruce went too far, way too far. That is why they had Clark reign him in whenever he was being too much of a hardass.
"True, but whoever sent her here now knows the location of the Watchtower." Bruce narrowed his eyes, not that Oliver could see them past the Batman's mask. "We don't need another leak." The Hall of Justice was their official headquarters according to the public, the Watchtower's existence was only known to the rest of the League.
"She had a huge hole in her side, and almost died a few times on the operating table from blood loss, whoever sent her here clearly wasn't her friend." Oliver shrugged. No normal human should've been able to survive a puncture wound that large, but Weiss was able to, somehow.
"Possible, but we need to cover every angle, just to be sure." That was going to be the closest Batman admitted to going too far. It was still a win in Ollie's book, as long as it annoyed the Bat.
"It doesn't look like you're in your world anymore." Dinah's voice sliced through the momentary silence. She had pulled out a map that Batman had conveniently placed in one of the room's cabinets, as if the Bat had expected such a revelation.
Oliver's masked covered eyes immediately teared themselves away from Bruce to the screen. T-That actually explained a lot, such as her weird white phone Bruce didn't want to admit he couldn't open, and her snow white hair. No amount of hair dye could get that shade, Dinah tried already.
Weiss' eyes were hidden by her long hair, but her jaw obviously was clenched shut, even with the weird camera angle.
"So it seems." Weiss' voice suddenly lost all trace of the German accent she had been trying to play up earlier. She was good, Ollie really thought that was her real accent.
"I'm sorry." Black Canary sighed. She placed one of hands close to Weiss', in an attempt to comfort her. Dinah was always good at empathizing with others. "We'll try our best to find a way to send you back, but there's no guarantee."
"I understand." Weiss tilted her head upwards, which revealed her hard, sapphire blue eyes. "Thank you."
"She's putting on a mask to hide her anxiety." Batman spoke up, turning to one of his holographic screens. "She's been telling the truth the entire time, according to her vitals. Her pulse spiked when she finally realized this isn't her world."
Ollie tore his eyes from the screen and glared at the Dark Knight. "You already knew?!" What was the point in pushing for a harsher interrogation then!
Bruce's smirk was all he needed to know.
"Could I be alone for now?"
"Of course."
A/N
Another update that's late. DC characters are much harder to write.
And I'm glad to announce that another DC member shall be joining the Team, to help make it fresh compared to other YJ crossovers.
