Chapter 4: Goodbye Haruna?!
The next morning began as usual in the Yuuki household. Rito woke up to find Momo sleeping in his bed in just her panties.
(Momo): Good morning Rito.
(Rito): M…Momo, why are you always half naked in my bed when I wake up?!
(Momo): Because it is quite delightful to sleep with you.
(?): Momo!
Mikan comes barging in angrily.
(Mikan): I told you no funny business! Just because you all aren't going to school today does not mean that you can just fool around with all that pervy stuff.
(Momo): Oh ho ho. Mikan, perhaps if you experienced the pleasure that Rito gives me then maybe you would change your tune.
Rito and Mikan both blush.
(Mikan): And… Just what pleasure is that?!
(Momo): Wouldn't you like to know?
Nana comes barging into the room and starts choking Rito in a headlock.
(Nana): You beast! Up to your old tricks again huh?
(Rito): Nana… can't breathe.
(Momo): Oh Nana, why don't you give it a rest? You're just jealous that you're not bold enough to do what I do miss kissy pants.
(Mikan): Miss kissy pants?
(Nana): *Blushes* M…Momo! Stop bringing that up!
(Mikan): What is she bringing up?
Before Nana can answer, Lala suddenly rushes into the room.
(Lala): Hey everyone, Papa and Mama are on the video phone. They want to talk to everyone, especially me and Rito. They said that it's serious. Hurry and come with me.
Sensing Lala's seriousness, they all go to Lala's room where they see Gid and Sephie on the floating video screen.
(Rito): Gid-san! Sephie-san!
(Sephie): Hello Rito and hello to all of you.
(Gid): Unfortunately, we have some concerning news to tell you. I'll cut straight to the chase. Rito and Lala, be on guard for Memorzian assassins and/or kidnappers. You two have caught the ire of the king of Planet Memorze, and now he is out for revenge against the two of you.
(Rito): Memorze? That's the planet that Run and Ren are from!
(Gid): Yes that's right. They saw some Earthling news broadcast that showed their daughter beating up a friend of yours and then getting beaten up by Lala, and then they heard the story from their kids, and now they are pissed that you apparently did something to hurt their daughter's feelings, and that Lala beat her up. That's why they called us last night demanding justice. Of course, we would never give into their demands.
(Lala): What were their demands?
(Gid): They want us to either hand Rito over to their daughter for her to marry, to publicly execute Rito, or to hand you over to them so that they can either have you publicly apologize to Run while in the nude, or allow yourself to be beaten by their people.
(Rito/Lala/Nana/Momo/Mikan): What?!
(Gid): Yeah, and when I rejected their stupid demands, they made some vague threat that you all, Rito and Lala in particular, better watch your backs. They also extended this threat to the Earth as well. Either way, I would warn all of you, not just Rito and Lala, to be careful regardless.
(Rito): Understood
(Momo): Father, couldn't you do something about this? You're not usually the one to take threats lying down. Furthermore, the Deviluke empire is far stronger than the Memorze kingdom. You alone could wipe out their entire planet.
(Gid): That is all very true. However, the Memorzians are actually valuable contributors to the upkeep of our empire. It would be foolish even for me to just outright destroy them. Furthermore, I see this as a good learning opportunity for you all, especially Rito. If Rito is to become the king in the future, he will have to face challenges like this from time to time. I want to see how you all deal with this.
Rito looks shocked, but also understanding to a degree.
(Rito): I understand.
(Gid): Good. That's all we wanted to talk about.
(Sephie): Have a nice day.
With that, the video call cut off.
(Momo): You know Rito, the best way out of this would be to talk to and make up with Run, and get her to talk her parents out of all of this.
(Rito): Yeah, I know. That's exactly what I plan to do. Also, Lala, you should come with me and make up with Run as well.
(Lala): Absolutely.
(Mikan): Still, I can't believe those cruel demands! Public execution?! A nude public apology?! A public beating?! *Mikan starts shaking with horror* And…assassins?! Rito, I'm actually starting to get really worried about this, and about your safety. *Mikan starts remembering the time when Kuro invaded their house and nearly shot Rito*.
Seeing Mikan's distress, Rito hugs Mikan.
(Rito): Don't worry Mikan. We'll get through this somehow. After all, by this point I've had several people try to kill me, but I'm still here.
(Mikan): *Eyes water a little* You baka! That doesn't make me feel any better! Even so, you better not die!
(Rito): Right, I won't.
As Rito moves to break from the hug with Mikan, he slips and falls on top of Mikan while ripping her clothes off, stripping her to just her pink panties (everyone had just woken up for the day, so she wasn't wearing a bra yet).
(Momo): Ara Ara… Looks like you're the one with the funny business now Mikan.
(Mikan): Momooooooo!
Soon after their typical morning antics, Mikan and Nana went to school, leaving the suspended crew (and Momo and Celine) at home.
Meanwhile, at Run's house, Run was lying in bed depressed when she heard the doorbell ringing. She didn't move to answer the door, but Ren went to answer it.
(Ren): Kyouko!
(Kyouko): Ren-kun!
At the door, was Run's best friend and fellow entertainer Kyouko Kirisaki.
(Kyouko): Where's Run-chan?
(Ren): She's in her room. She's been lying in bed depressed since yesterday evening.
Kyouko ran inside straight to Run's room.
(Kyouko): Run!
(Run): *Sits up* Kyouko.
Kyouko runs to hug Run.
(Kyouko): *With tears in her eyes* I saw the news. I was so worried when I saw that you had gotten beaten up in a fight! And by Lala-san no less! I thought she was your friend. And the news said that Rito-kun was involved somehow! Just what happened?! Why were you fighting that Haruna Sairenji girl and Lala?!
Run proceeded to tell the story of how she was talking to Rito, and he declined her invitations to hang out twice in favor of Lala and Haruna, before completely blowing off her existence as soon as the two aforementioned girls approached.
(Kyouko): That's terrible! I can't believe that Rito-kun would be so insensitive!
(Run): Yeah. It really hurt! Even more than Lala's punches. I love Rito so much, even now. However, sometimes it just feels like I don't mean a thing to Rito. I can't help but wonder, does Rito even listen to the albums that I give him, or watch the episodes of Magical Kyouko that I play on, or come to any of my concerts. Just what am I to Rito? The only ones he ever seems to think about are Lala and Haruna. Lala and Haruna this. Lala and Haruna that. My heart can't take it!
Run started to cry as Kyouko held Run in her arms.
(Kyouko): Run-chan… *In thought* I'm going to go have a little chat with Rito-kun.
Elsewhere, Rito and Lala were headed towards Haruna's place.
(Lala): I really hope that Haruna is doing okay.
(Rito): Yeah. That news broadcast must have been especially humiliating for her. They even showed her naked and did not censor anything! I wouldn't be surprised if she never wanted to leave her house again.
Rito and Lala arrive at the door to Haruna's apartment. Just as they are about to knock on the door, they hear a shout from Haruna.
(Haruna): WHAT?!
Rito and Lala were suddenly alarmed by this shout. They knocked on the door.
(Akiho): I'll get it.
Akiho opened the door to find Rito and Lala standing there.
(Akiho): *Worry in her eyes* Ah. Yuuki! Lala! Perfect timing! Haruna may need you now more than ever! Come on in!
Rito and Lala entered the house pensively to find Haruna with tears in her eyes standing in the living room with her angry looking parents. Fuyuhiko Sairenji and Natsumi Sairenji, Haruna's father and mother respectively, stood up when Rito and Lala entered the house.
(Fuyuhiko): You two! You must be Rito Yuuki and Lala Satalin Deviluke. We have heard much about you two.
(Natsumi): Mr. Yuuki, we know that you and Haruna fancy each other.
This statement caused Rito and Haruna to blush.
(Natsumi): And we also know that you, miss Lala, are our daughter's best friend.
Lala shook her head, affirming Natsumi's statement.
(Natsumi): You two were involved in the most recent fight that Haruna was involved in. Is there any light that you two can shed on the situation?
(Rito): About that… I'm terribly sorry. This whole situation was basically my fault.
Rito proceeded to tell the story about the circumstances that led to the fight.
(Fuyuhiko): I see. That's pretty much exactly the same story that Haruna told us. In that case, our decision remains unchanged.
(Rito): Decision?
(Fuyuhiko): Yes. You may have heard Haruna shouting "WHAT?!" just before you came in. Well, that was because we told Haruna what we are going to do.
(Rito): And what would that be?
(Fuyuhiko): We are going to pull Haruna out of that school and have her move in with us. Furthermore, we are suing the school, the news station, Run Elsie Jewelria if we can, and we are pressing charges on anyone who disseminated those videos if we can find them! Not only did that news station humiliate our daughter by broadcasting a video of her getting beaten up on world news, but they also showed her naked without censorship. Then went on to identify her by her full name and show a picture of her while giving a description of her! It's like they specifically wanted to humiliate her!
(Natsumi): The news station and all of those viral videos showcased an uncensored naked minor. That's child pornography. Furthermore, the school has neither made an effort to contact us, nor to try to maintain the privacy and dignity of our daughter. They just blabbed everything to the news, and even allowed the news to interview students! Then, they had the audacity to suspend our Haruna, when according to what she says, this Run threw the first punches?! And don't even get me started on the clothing stripping smoke grenade! That's still a weapon, even if it doesn't explode with fire! How could the school even allow that in school?! Why did the school take no legal action against Run? So yeah…We're suing that school, that news station and Run for all they are worth, and we are taking Haruna out of that school!
Rito and Lala donned a look of utter shock and sadness.
(Haruna): *In tears* But Mom! Dad! I don't want to leave my friends, Akiho, Maron and Sainan in general!
(Natsumi): Haruna, why would you want to go to a school run by a criminally perverted principal, and where you were utterly shamed and humiliated?!
(Haruna): Like I said, I love my friends and this town!
Suddenly, Rito gets down on his hands and knees and falls on his face in a begging position.
(Rito): Please let Haruna stay!
Fuyuhiko and Natsumi were stunned at this gesture.
(Rito): This whole situation is my fault. By taking Haruna away from the school and the people she loves, you will be punishing her for a fault of mine. I beg of you to please let her stay! I promise that I won't let any more harm come to her. I will protect Haruna with my life if I have to. What's more, this whole situation with Run was just a one off incident that occured because of a stupid blunder of mine. Nothing like this has ever happened with Haruna at school before. I promise you, our school is a good school with good people who care for Haruna. Sure the principal is perverted, but he's usually not really much of an issue for most of the students. Plus, we have other staff members who are much more responsible and reliable than him. The point I'm trying to make is that Haruna is irreplaceable for so many people, myself included. In fact, my love for Haruna is the reason why I still have yet to fully accept the opportunity to become king of the universe. Without Haruna in my life, I'm not sure I want to go on! *Rito has tears in his eyes*.
Tears were streaming down Haruna's face while everyone else in the room stood in utter shock at Rito's bold declaration.
Fuyuhiko: O_O
Natsumi: O_O
Akiho: O_O
Lala was in shock too, but she also felt a strange emotion that she had never really felt before. Nevertheless, Lala picked up where Rito left off.
(Lala): I agree with Rito. Rito may say that it was all his fault, but in actuality, it was also partially my fault for not noticing Run's presence when I approached Rito, and also Run's fault for throwing the first punches. Haruna here is the only blameless one in this whole situation. So please… let Haruna stay here with us! We'll take responsibility for all of this. I don't know if Haruna has told you this about me, but I am actually an alien and the princess of the universe. I have the means to erase all those videos from the internet. And as Rito says, this fight with Run was a one off thing. Run is normally a polite and nice girl. She just lost her temper this once. Rito and I are planning to go patch things up with her soon, so we're hoping that there should be no problems or animosity between Run and any of us going forward. We do have both the means and the will to keep Haruna safe!
Fuyuhiko and Natsumi look at each other.
(Fuyuhiko): Yuuki, please raise your head.
Rito stood up.
(Fuyuhiko): Now first, I want to ask about all this talk of a king or a princess of the universe. What's that about?
Rito proceeded to explain the circumstances under which Lala came into his life, and how he became Lala's fiance and the successor to the king of the universe. As proof that Lala is an alien with advanced technology, Rito had Lala show Haruna's parents her tail as well as several alien gadgets such as Peke (Lala had Peke change Natsumi into a beautiful dress and then back to her original clothes, thus greatly shocking her) and her anti-gravity wings. Rito then proceeded to explain that although he had the opportunity to become king of the universe, and although he loved Lala, he had loved Haruna for much longer and refused to just abandon his feelings for her just for the sake of power. Rito went on to mention how Lala and Momo have suggested polygamy, but Rito and Haruna could not accept that, and Rito above all wanted to respect Haruna's feelings on that matter. Therefore, even after Rito and Haruna's mutual confessions, Rito had yet to start a proper relationship with anyone. By the end of this whole explanation, Fuyuhiko and Natsumi were left both bewildered and in tears at the extent of Rito's love for Haruna.
(Fuyuhiko): Alright, you've convinced me. We'll let Haruna stay and we won't sue the school or Run. However, we are still suing the news station.
(Haruna): *Happy tears* Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
(Natsumi): You're welcome dear.
(Fuyuhiko): By the way, Yuuki…
(Rito): Yes?
(Fuyuhiko): I'm curious about something. Why did that news broadcast call you a massive pervert?
Rito blushed furiously.
(Rito): Well uh… That's because I have this unfortunate quirk where I exhibit a very unique brand of clumsiness. You see, it often happens that I trip and fall on girls in the most perverted of ways. I honestly never mean to do these things, but for some reason this has just always happened to me ever since I was little.
(Natsumi): What do you mean by "you fall on girls in the most perverted of ways"?
(Rito): Well…
As Rito was about to answer, he took a step forward and tripped on an untied shoelace. Rito fell and somehow stripped Natsumi, Akiho and Haruna down to their bras and panties all at the same time, while also knocking Peke off of Lala's head (thus stripping her naked) and landing mouth first into Natsumi's panty covered crotch (as his hands groped Akiho's panty covered butt).
(Fuyuhiko): O_O WTF?!
(Haruna): *Blushing* This is what he means by "falling on girls in perverted ways".
(Natsumi/Akiho): Kyahhhhhhhhh!
(Rito): I'm sorry! I…
*SLAP* *SLAP*
Rito received a double slap from both Natsumi and Akiho. Nevertheless, after everyone got up and got redressed, Haruna's parents shook hands with Rito and Lala and left. Akiho also left to go about her business. Then suddenly, Haruna called Rito.
(Haruna): Yuuki-kun…no… Rito.
Noticing that Haruna called him by his first name, Rito's eyes widened.
(Rito): Sai…
Before Rito could even get her name out, Haruna shocked Rito and Lala by rushing up to Rito and kissing him passionately with tears of happiness in her eyes. As the two engaged in their sudden make out session, Lala watched with a feeling in her chest that she could not explain.
