Oh boy. Now, time for the complicated parts of the story. And just what might I mean by that? Well, there are some parts to the story that you need to adapt from Hawaii to Chicago. And that's precisely what I need to do in this chapter, adapt some of the storylines which I wrote for Hawaii to work in Chicago. So, how about we see just how that works as we continue on with this re-write. Enjoy.
Chapter Four
Mixed Emotions
Halstead Condo, Chicago - To say that Jay felt horrible as he walked into his and Alex's home this morning was a huge understatement, especially since he knew that he was (partially) at fault for this; he was at fault due to the fact that he was the one that made breakfast for her. And that meant that he was the one that put something in there that she didn't like, which was precisely why he rushed home from the gym so that he could do the right thing in this situation; so that he could be the one to take care of her, rather than have her call Hank to take care of her. However, it seemed like he was already too late for that; though, he should've figured that was the case due to the fact that he lives in the same building at them. Though, for some reason, he thought Alex wouldn't call him to take care of her. But, here he was, taking care of her. "C'mon, let's get you back to bed so that you can take it easy Alex." Hearing Hank say that, Jay sighed due to the fact that he needed to check on her first. "Hank, can you give her a minute? She does this all the time."
Turning his head when he heard his second favorite former detective, Hank Voight was glad to see him there. "Finally, where were you?" Looking down at his service dog, Max, Jay sighed due to the fact that he was taking the dog out to run after going to the gym with him. "I hit the gym, then I was going to take Max for a run…and I did, when I ran home with him." Voight agreed with Jay as he said that. "Of course." Jay smiled. "Now, I haven't given him water yet…" Hank agreed, thinking that was him asking if he had Alex. "Of course, go ahead and take care of Max." Sighing when he heard Hank say that, Jay shook his head as that was the last thing he wanted to hear. After all, Alex is his wife and he loves her, which means that he wants to be the one to take care of her, something which Alex decided to point out to her father. "Hank, I think that was Jay asking you to take care of Max. After all, Jay is my husband, and I may need his help." Hank was confused when he heard Alex say that. "I can help you Alex." Alex sighed as she looked down at her shirt.
After which, she looked up at the two men who were standing at the door of her washroom. "Hank, I'm going to need to take a shower; and I'd rather not have my father…" Hank then realized that. "Oh, right." Alex agreed with her father. "Yes, so can you please let Jay into the washroom so that he can take care of me? Just go take care of Max for us, please?" Voight agreed with Alex as she said that, before looking at Jay. "Here, how about you give me his leach? Then, I can take care of him." Jay agreed with Voight as he said that, more than ready to have him do that for him. "Thanks Hank." Looking down at Max, Hank smiled as he led him away. "C'mon you." Walking away with his grandfather, Max got ready to go drink some water. Meanwhile, Jay made his way into the washroom so that he could have a moment with his wife; alone without the interruption of her father, thanks to the door that he just closed behind him. And let's just say that it felt great to have distance from her father. "Ok. Now that feels better." Alex agreed with Jay.'
After all, it always feels nice when they're alone since he's always a larger-than-life presence when he's around. "Well, I think we both know this is what we need right now." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, as they need to be alone right now. "Yeah, I need you alone to take care of this. I don't need to have my dad here to take care of me." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, especially since it's precisely what he wants to do for his wife. So, as he made his way over to her at the toilet, he just made sure to take it easy so that they could concentrate on each other the way they were supposed to right now. They were supposed to just take it easy and relax, rather than have to worry about someone hovering over them. "So, do you feel better in any other way?" Sighing as she got up and flushed all of the yuckiness down the toilet, Alex just went to close the toilet seat prior to sitting down; that way, she could just breathe and take it easy. "I have mixed emotions when it comes to it." Confused, Jay made his way over to his wife.
After all, why would she have mixed emotions about this? You'd think this was an easy way to feel: horrible due to the fact that you hate having morning sickness. Yet, here she was having mixed emotions? Oh no, is she starting to regret them continuing on in the path of already going for a baby? Does she think that them going for this already is too soon? He hopes that's not the case, as he really wants to be a dad. However, if she feels like she's not ready to be a mom; then he'll understand, and they can work things out. "Alex, are you okay? Are you starting to have regrets over the timing of all this? Whether you're ready to be a mom or not. Please, babe, be honest with me." Jay said, as he crouched down and grabbed his wife's hand; while she looked up at him and shook her head. "Hey, that's the last thing I'm thinking about. I love the fact that we're having a baby. That we're having a daughter." Jay agreed with his wife, more than ready to have a daughter with his beautiful wife. "And I love that we're having a daughter. What are we now?"
Alex smiled. "Sixteen weeks last time I checked." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, as they were getting very close to them being at the halfway mark. The halfway mark of her pregnancy, as well as their journey to being parents. "To think, you and our little girl are going to share the same birth month." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that. "I can't wait. I just hope that this doesn't stay around too much longer. I hate being sick like this." Jay agreed with his wife, well aware that she hates being sick like the way she is right now. "I know baby." Leaning over her, Jay proceeded to press his lips to her forehead due to the fact that he loves his wife more than anything in the entire world. "I love you." Alex agreed with her husband as he told her that he loves her, as she loves him too. "I love you too, and I love that you want to take care of me right now." Jay agreed with his wife, as that's precisely what he plans on doing each and every day for the rest of his life. He plans on taking care of his wife since it's what he needs to do as she's pregnant.
And sometimes, that just means that he needs to hold her, which is precisely what he was doing right now; while she grabbed his shirt and went to wipe her mouth. Pressing his lips to Alex's forehead, Jay just gave her the comfort she needed right now; something which she very much appreciated. "You have no idea how much I appreciate you doing that for me." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that, well aware that was the case. "I know Alex. I know you appreciate it due to the fact that it's what you need right now. You need me here with you, so that's precisely where I am right now. I'm here with you, so that I can take care of you as you take it easy and relax." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case as she laid her head down on his shoulder as they took it easy with each other. At the same time, Jay whispered to his wife as they both held each other close. "You want me to start the shower for you?" Turning her head, Alex agreed with her husband. "Can you join me in the shower?" Jay smiled, as he most certainly does want to.
However, her dad was out there, which meant that it may not be a good idea. That is, unless he can get him to leave. "Listen, how about you stay here? I'll talk to your dad and get him to leave. That way, we're alone and we can take it easy with each other; we can take that shower you want." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, as that's precisely what she wants; she wants to take a shower with her husband so that she can take it easy. "Can you promise me that we just take it easy and relax?" Jay agreed with his wife, prior to pressing his lips to her forehead. "Of course, Alex; that's precisely what we're going to do since it's what you need for the sake of the kids." Alex agreed with her husband and just smiled as she watched him get up, prior to walking over to the shower so that he could turn it on. "I promise, this is going to make you feel better." Alex agreed with her husband, well aware that she's going to feel better after taking a nice shower. "Can you grab me some new lingerie and just get the bed ready for us to cuddle?" Jay agreed.
Smirking, he just loves the sound of them cuddling up to each other in bed. "I love the sound of that. However, I think we both know that we need to take it easy. So, I'm not just going to stay in boxers; I'm going to wear sweats so that we can take it easy with each other." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, prior to getting close to him and placing her hands on his muscular chest, while Jay wrapped his arms around his beautiful wife. Smiling, he pressed his lips to her forehead as they both held each other close and just took it easy with each other for a minute. "Listen, let's just get you in the shower; then, I'll come join you so that I can help you feel better." Alex agreed with her husband, as that's precisely what she wants to do. She wants to take a shower with the man she loves, as they take it nice and easy with each other. But first, she wanted Jay to get her undressed. "Can you get me undressed first?" Jay agreed with his wife, prior to doing just that. That way, she can get in the shower, while he goes to get them some new clothes.
Clothes that they can wear as they take it easy and just relax with each other, due to the fact that it's what they need to do for the sake of their children. "I promise, I won't take long. Alex agreed with her husband as he told her that he won't take long. "I just need to talk to your dad first, is that okay?" Alex agreed with her husband as he said that. "Ok." Alex said, as she felt Jay grab her pants and move to take them off; while also setting them down on the counter here in the washroom…right next to the gender test she just took. "Wait, what's this? This is pregnancy test?" Alex shook her head as she placed her hands on his toned chest. "It's still processing, but it's a test that will tell us the gender." Jay was surprised when he heard Alex say that. "You mean…" Alex agreed with her husband as she stepped close to him, prior to leaning in and kissing him softly. "I'm testing for the gender. We can check it when you come back, okay?" Jay agreed with his wife, kissing her softly. "Sounds good. Now, let me go talk to your dad. Then, I'll come join you."
Alex agreed with her husband as she stepped close to him, prior to leaning in and taking things nice and slow with the man of her dreams; the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. "I hope you know that I love you more than anything." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that. "Hey, of course I know that Alex. And I love you too, due to the fact that you're the woman of my dreams. Now, I am going to go talk to your dad and get him to leave. Then, I'm going to come join you in here so we can shower." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, while also feeling him press his lips to her forehead. "I love you Jay." Jay agreed with his wife, as he loves her too. "I love you too Jay." Jay smiled as he heard Alex say that, prior to grabbing her hand and stroking it with her thumb. "Now, let's get you undressed and into the shower." Alex agreed with Jay, doing just that with the help of her loving husband; that way, she can get in the shower. Meanwhile, Jay can go out and talk to Hank for a moment and give him an update.
He made sure to close the door behind him to give his wife the privacy she needs right now, the privacy she needs in the shower due to the fact that she isn't feeling good. Meanwhile, Jay was going to talk to her father to make sure that they can get some time with each other, which is precisely what they both need to do right now, they need to relax alone with each other. But first, he was going to do something he would want to do if he were in Hank's shoes; he wanted to get an update from his daughter's husband over how she is. So, that's precisely what Jay proceeded to do: he went to give Hank an update. "So, I just spoke to Alex." Getting up, Hank agreed with his son-in-law. "How is she?" Jay sighed. "She's not feeling the best, and she wants to be alone. She wants to take it easy and just relax. She's not very interested in having time with you. I think she's actually a bit embarrassed that it happened while you were here." And to say that Voight felt horrible when he heard that, well that was an understatement. "I just feel horrible, this isn't fair."
Jay sighed; well aware this isn't fair. "I know, this isn't fair for her. This is supposed to be a happy time in our life, but she just feels horrible right now. So, this is the last thing I want for her." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that. "Let me guess, that means she isn't in the mood to spend some time with me right now?" Jay agreed with his father-in-law, as that's precisely what it means. "Yes, unfortunately. She just want to take it easy and relax right now. She needs to relax and just take it easy for the sake of our daughter." And that's when it hit Hank….Jay and Alex were having a daughter. "You guys are having a little girl?" Jay agreed with Hank, smiling as he watched him make his way over to her; prior to them sharing a hug. "Oh, I'm so happy for you guys." Jay smiled, as he felt the same way. "I love it too. Now, listen. I think it's best if you get out of here so that we can take it easy and relax with each other." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Yeah, you need that." Jay agreed with Hank and smiled at him.
However, he also had something else to say. "But first, I want to talk to you about something." Hank agreed with Jay. "Hank, I want to thank you for accepting our resignations from the unit. I know that it's what we need. We have a great opportunity with Matt to do some real good in the world." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that. "What's Casey doing anyways? I still find it crazy that he's rich now." Jay agreed. "I know. But, he's thinking of doing something related to police work…and then some stuff related to PTSD as well." Hank was surprised. "Police stuff?" Jay nodded. "Yeah. But, I am looking more at the PTSD stuff. He's thinking of creating resources for PTSD, created for people with PTSD by people with PTSD. He wants me to help him do it as someone who has PTSD, with the assistance of doctors and more people. He's thinking of bringing in not only former cops who have PTSD, but veterans, and even firefighters who have PTSD. After all, he's gotten diagnosed with PTSD now." Hank was surprised when he heard Jay say that.
So much so, that he was starting to wonder if he was having hearing issues. Did he really just hear that Matt Casey has PTSD? "Sorry, did I just hear you say that Matt Casey has PTSD?" Jay agreed with Hank as he said that. "Yeah, that's actually something I want to talk about. I know that you guys had troubles in the past. But, I'd appreciate it if you stayed away from him. He needs to take it easy and just relax. He has newborn twins, he's starting a company, and he has PTSD; or he thinks. It's still complicated right now. But, listen. I am going to let you go so that I can go take care of Alex as we take it easy with each other." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, while also getting close to Jay as he went to hug him. "I promise, I'm going to let you guys relax as you take it easy with each other." Jay agreed with Hank as he said that. "Thanks Hank. I'll talk to you another time when you can visit." Hank agreed with Jay as he said that, prior to turning around and walking away so that he can go home, while Jay just let out a sigh this morning.
There she stood, looking all hot and sexy as she stood in the shower this morning; his beautiful, pregnant wife being a real turn on as the water ran down her gorgeous body. The body which Jay plans on running his hands all over the moment her was in the shower with her. After all, that's precisely where he was on his way to be right now; he was on his way into the shower with his wife, just as soon as he was ready. And in order to get ready, he had to do three things: he had to set his boxers and a new pair of sweats down on the counter (check), he had to take off his towel and hang it up (check), and then he had to get in the shower with Alex; and let's just say that's something that they were both ready to do. They were both ready to just hold each other and take it easy, while also taking it a bit sexy with each other; especially since Alex is quite hormonal now that her husband was in the shower with her. And let's just say that Alex loves the sight in front of her: the sight of her husband naked in the shower. "Damn, now this is a sight I like."
Smirking, Jay agreed with Alex as he felt the same way about her in the shower. "I can say the same thing about you my gorgeous, sexy, pregnant wife." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, smirking as she extended her hands so that she can get him close to her; which is precisely what Jay did. He got nice and close to the woman he loves, prior to wrapping his arms around her and just smiling as he pressed his lips to her forehead; while Alex wrapped her arms around him as she laid her head down on his chest. And Jay could just tell, Alex needed this more than anything right now. "I can only assume that this is everything you need right now?" Alex agreed with Jay, as this is precisely what she needs. "Though, I would rather have you against the wall so that you can keep us stable." Jay smirked, prior to letting her go and grabbing her hand. After which, he led her towards the wall; prior to turning around and leaning back against his chest. Meanwhile, Alex got close to her husband and just smiled as she cuddled up to him here in the shower.
'Meanwhile, Jay wrapped his arms around her and smirked as he leaned in and kissed her softly, while also grabbing some soap and starting to wash her body. Meanwhile, Alex placed her hands on his abs due to the fact that it was exactly where she wanted her hands to be. She wanted her hands on her husband's muscular body, as it meant that she could easily be pleased as they took it easy with each other. "I love you Jay." Jay agreed with his wife, as he loves her too. "I love you too Alex, and I am so glad that everything is coming together for us; and that we finally have that man out there's approval." Alex laughed. "Oh, shut up. You still love the fact that we fell in love against his express wishes." Jay smirked, well aware that was the case as he bent down and went to kiss her neck; while Alex moved her hand to the back of Jay's head and just moaned as she was very happy right now. "God, such a turn on."
Jay agreed with his wife as she said that. "Well, it's much easier the further along in the pregnancy you are." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, smiling as she leaned back and placed her hand son his face; prior to leaning in and just kissing the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. Her daughter's father. "I am so glad that we're having a daughter. I can already see you being the most protective and overbearing father that the world has ever known." Jay stared at his wife as she said that. "Ok. I am never going to be as overbearing as your father, we both know that. Now, can we stop talking about him?" Alex agreed with Jay, as they most certainly can stop talking about him; and she knew precisely why. So, she decided to tease Jay about it. "Wait, you don't like thinking about my father and my naked body at the same time?" Smirking, Jay liked the fact that he had her naked body right against his. "I love your naked body against mine, but not as I think about your dad." He said, as he leaned in and kissed his wife softly.
Meanwhile, Alex grabbed the back of his head as she took things nice and slow with the man she loves; the man she knows may not always be able to join her in the shower as they get further along into her pregnancy. "I hope you know that I hope we can always do this." Jay agreed. "We're going to figure out a way to do it, as I will never take no to taking a shower with my wife lying down. You're mine, I love you, and I want to run my hands all over your body as much as I can." He said, as he grabbed some more soap and ran his hands up her back. "I want to enjoy this forever, even when we have our little girl. She can sleep in her crib, as we take it nice and easy with each other." Alex agreed with her husband as he told her that, prior to leaning in and just taking things nice and slow with the man of her dreams. The man she loves and craves more than anything in the entire world. "Not too long, okay? I want to go lay down in bed with you." Jay agreed with his wife, as he wants to do the same thing: lay down in bed as they cuddle up to each other.
He was just wearing his sweats as he came out of the washroom, only so see his beautiful wife laying down in the comfort of their bed, which is precisely where he wants Alex to be right now. He wants to have Alex laying down in bed, where she can relax and just take it easy. And that's precisely where she was right now. "You look comfortable there." Jay said, as he did up his sweatpants. "Yeah, I am very comfortable and turned on right now." Jay smirked as he heard Alex say that, well aware that she was quite turned on right now. "Well, I think we both know that means that your hormones are also going crazy." Alex agreed with her incredible husband, as she reached out for him. After all, that's what she wants right now. She wants to have her husband close to her, as they cuddle up to each other in the comfort of their bed. And right now, that's precisely what she was about to do: cuddle up to her husband and hold him close; especially since he's such a hunk, her military hunk. "I love the sight of my shirtless, hunky, military husband. Sue me."
Jay shook his head, as that was the last thing he was going to do when he instead needed to give Max some attention, which is precisely what he did when he jumped up onto the end of their bed. "Hey boy, you want to spend some time with us?" Going to scratch the top of his head, Jay smiled due to the fact that he's a really good service dog. "Well, I think we both know that he does. But first, I want you to cuddle up to me and join you in bed." Jay agreed with his wife as he made his way over to their bed, prior to opening the covers to their bed and looking at what his wife was wearing. "Damn, I love the sight of this." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that. "Just like I love the sight of that. But now, I want you in bed with me." Jay agreed with his wife as he leaned over her, prior to kissing her softly. After which, he climbed into bed with her and just smiled as he wrapped his arm around her; prior to tugging the covers up on top of the both of them. After which, Jay proceeded to grab the TV remote for Alex. "Here."
Looking up at her husband, Alex shook her head. "No, go ahead." Looking at his wife, Jay just knew that she was going to want to watch TV instead. "We both know that you want to watch TV instead. I don't care what we watch. All that matters to me is that we relax and take it easy with each other." Alex agreed with Jay as he said that, prior to grabbing the TV remote so that she can turn the TV on this morning. "I hope you know that I appreciate us just taking it easy and relaxing in the comfort of our bed right now." Looking down at his wife, Jay agreed with Alex. "Hey, of course I know that Alex. I know that you appreciate that." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, smiling as he ran his fingers through her hair; prior to pressing his lips to her forehead. "I love you, and I want you to just take it easy and relax." Alex looked up at Jay as he said that, smiling as she proceeded to grab his hand; while he bent down and kissed the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. The woman who's making him a father.
However, it wasn't long before Alex pulled away from the kiss so that she could take it easy and just take a nap. "Do you mind if I take a nap?" Jay shook his head, as he doesn't mind whatsoever. If she wants to take a nap, then that's precisely what she's going to do. "Hey, go ahead and take a nap if that's what you need to do babe. I want you to rest and take a nap if that's what you need to do. Anyways, I have stuff I can do." Jay said, as he moved his hand to the top of Max's head and scratched it. "You mean on Casey PTSD?" Jay sighed as he looked at his wife. "Yeah, I spoke to your dad about that by the way. I mentioned it." Looking at the man she loves, Alex was a bit worried. "How'd he take it?" Jay was confused. "You okay?" Alex sighed. "I've been reluctant to tell him the real reason why we left the CPD." Jay smiled. "I told him that we're going to give back to the PTSD community and it's what I want to do, especially since Matt has PTSD now." Alex sighed. "It's confirmed?" Jay agreed with his wife as he kissed her forehead softly.
After all, he could tell that she was worried right now. "I saw him at my PTSD support group at the hospital on Friday." Apparently, he's been having a bit of trouble lately; he always does around this time of the year, since it's been six years since the murder of his late fiancé." Alex shook her head as she heard Jay say that. "And two years since his near-death experience." Alex was shocked. "What are you talking about?" Jay bit his lip. "Factory fire, 2017. Almost died. Caused problems between him and Gabby for a while, apparently." Alex snickered. "You mean, right when we broke up? When I left to go to New York City?" Jay agreed with his wife. "Still can't believe that it was two years ago." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that. "Yeah, Olivia sends her congrats by the way." Jay agreed with his wife as she said that. "Olivia Benson?" Alex agreed. "Olivia was another name I was thinking for our daughter, actually." Jay shook his head. "I like the name Emily, because of the nicknames we can have. Em. Emmy." Alex agreed with her husband.
After all, those are adorable nicknames. "I love the sound of those nicknames." Jay agreed with his wife and smiled as he pressed his lips to her forehead. "And I love you. That's why I want you to get the rest you need. If you need to take it easy and just relax babe, then please do that for me." Alex agreed with her husband, as she loves the sound of doing that. "Well, then that's what I'm going to do if that's okay." Jay agreed with his wife and smiled, as it was more than okay with him if she decided to take a nap. "Alex, you do whatever you need to do so that you can make sure that you get a nice nap. And if that means that I need to be quiet as you take a nap, then that's precisely what I plan on doing for you." Alex agreed with her husband and smiled due to the fact that he's such a great husband. "God, you're such a great husband." Jay smiled as he heard Alex say that. "And you're the best wife in the entire world. Now, how about we take it easy and just relax with each other? You need to take a nap." Alex agreed with Jay and smiled.
Laying her head down once again, Alex breathed as she went ahead and just went to take a nap as she cuddled up to the man of her dreams; while Jay ran his hand up and down her back as they both held each other close in the comfort of their bed…something Matt and Gabby were both doing as well after giving their children another round of feedings.
