Tension began to grow between son and father, as the latter looked incredibly furious.

Furious, and very scared, worried and even trying to keep himself together as he tried to calm himself down.

While Corneus was actually surprised inside, projecting an completely calm expression outside at the same time.

It was as if he expected him to arrive. His hand glowed a dim, crimson light with a tint of gold, crackling eerily while his possessed wife weakly looked at the two of them.

The mana he was emitting was incredibly high, not just that, only he was capable of sensing it because of his senses which hadn't been dulled for the past decades.

'Hm... I did not expect him to enter this room quite early on, was I lost in my thoughts?' Corneus thought, taking a glance at his mother.

'I suppose a change of plans is needed. I've decided, I'll be more active under the daylight, and recruiting sufficiently skilled people at night.'

Sighing deeply, Klaus turned around to silently close the door after the guards stationed to calm down. He did not want to let them see what was inside the room.

With weakened steps, he positioned himself before a chair and sat down. He was beginning to be tired, and while he did, he noticed that Corneus' hand was no longer glowing.

"So, you've discovered her. Her cursed, possessed body. I am sure you have only found out just now, and you decided to find a way to end her before the curse completely turns her into a pile of disgusting meat."

Klaus started his speech, being all that distressed and lonely, even while he was in front of his son.

"I have a secret to speak... Blah blah blah, curse possession demons ancient Demon King, three heroes blah blah blah..."

But Corneus was just not listening to all of that.

'I hate long monologues, just get this over with... It's not like I have heard the same shit once more, you know...'

"Dad, stop that."

It's not like he's some main protagonist that would soon save the world, you know. He didn't want to be a mob, either. He...

He wanted to become a great king. Something he had never tried, aside from becoming the second coming of the Demon King, of course.

He ruled through fear, dominating every human, elf, demihumans and vampires alike, and it was... Very tiring and boring.

Without anybody to oppose him, he felt very unfulfilled.

But... Oh well...

"Father! Be silent!" He raised his voice in order to make Klaus silent.

He took it as an offense, but refrained from slapping his son, of course. Unless he wanted to say something that would offend him more.

'Right, time to start bluffing my way out of yhis. Hopefully I'm lucky and won't be reprimanded by father.'

"You know... I've had dreams about meeting someone years ago. I want you to listen to me, father. You might not believe me, but... Here goes."

"Go on." Klaus narrowed his eyes, and decided he would listen to him for a while.

Faking a cough, Corneus stared at his father with serious intent, frowning as if he wouldn't be believed.

"This woman claimed to be the Goddess that the supposed Church of Divine Teachings had prayed to. And, she said she had incarnated as one of the Three Heroes, while simultaneously blessing the two others since her birth. I was confused, really.

And of course, I did not see the need in telling you more about her, other than she was glowing and she had white hair and red eyes.

She, visited me each year to give me blessings, and now I was given the blessing to cure the Demonic Possession."

'... Start rolling Speech dice, now...'

Corneus felt embarrassed mentally, yet tried his best not to show it physically by looking incredibly serious.

"Is this... True?" Klaus asked, disbelief present on his face, doubting the existence of such a fact.

"... Witness... this blessing that will shed a new golden light to this world!! A blessing that took the Goddess thousands of years to create!"

'... Urgh... I feel like a fucking eighth grader...'

He was straining his mental strength just to hold back his growing cringe whilst his hand, now glowing in golden light (literally), had the right amount of Magical Power, and the right formula to make his spell succeed.

Klaus didn't stop him, as his chest tightened in wonder and fear. Aside from that, anticipation.

Corneus raised his hand, and immediately grabbed the deformed head of his mother.

The golden light covered her body from head to toe, and soon enough, she had returned to normal.

"...!!!!"

Klaus was very surprised, shocked even, this was the very first time he had seen such an event happening!

"... The goddess's blessing, it's true... It really is..."

Sniffing gently, the King of Midgar decided to not stay passive as Mary Midgar began to wake up, healthy and fully cured, even though she maybe was a few years younger than she was...

Without hesitation, he hugged her.

"Klaus... what... What happened? Why are you crying?"

"This is a miracle... This definitely is! Thanks to our son, and the Goddess!"

"What do you mean?"

"You... You're cured of the Demons Possession!"

Deciding that he had made a job well done, Corneus decided to turn around and leave them to their devices.

'... Now that is a job well done. I have more things to do now, and that is...'

"Of course...!"

"A future King has his own needs, that's why I decided to begin acting now, yet, what is a king without fully loyal subordinates, under clear daylight or even those cloaked in shadows?"

"I now have a dream, that I shall become the greatest king, ruling over this world... Starting by this one step to success!"

But then he stopped, glancing back at the door he once exited from, noticing something completely off...

'... Haaaaa... I'm going to have to deal with their crap again... Doesn't matter, all that will do is... eliminating the problem before it grows.'

Once he realized this, he knew that by going a full-on bluffing speech towards his father just to cover up his powers would get him in trouble.

His hand turned into a flat palm, as he cut the air in front of him horizontally, opening a dimensional gate in which he swiftly leaped to.

It was one of the to greeting his spies.

Meanwhile, in somewhere...

The two knights that heard the conversation silently left, glancing at each other carefully.

"Hey, isn't this too suspicious? How about you return to guarding the room? I'll tell the others about our discoveries." One of the knights spoke, and his partner scratched his head.

"I'm going to agree with that one, so I'll just return and cover us up, that'll save us more trouble while undercover." His partner replied, turning around.

However...

"Where do you think you're going, dear spies?" Corneus' calm voice resounded around the room they had been inside.

"What the--! Why is the prince here!" The knight was very surprised, even decided to unsheathe his sword and faced him.

They looked at each other, and nodded. The cult's members that were placed around the whole kingdom, whether they were popular and powerful nobles or even random commonfolk could just cover everything up, right?

Corneus narrowed his eyelids, stepping forward slowly as he was quite displeased by the two.

"Royal Guards, you have committed treason and are planning a possible coup d'etat, any questions?"

What the hell even is a "deta"? All they knew was about a coup...

"Let's get him! He's weaker than us because we're of the Second Children, and he's unarmed!"

Confidently, they didn't answer his question and attacked him with their seemingly superior speed.

But, in reality Corneus was just too skilled and too strong, but he wanted to at least hold back for a while to test out how this body of his handles enemies like them.

Large needles came out of his sleeves with a small gesture, and using it, he stepped sideways and pierced the wrist of his enemy in a precise manner.

And as swiftly as he moved, he grabbed the sword of the Knight and cut him vertically, appearing behind him.

While it seemed like nothing happened, the knight could no longer feel his lower body and arms.

Corneus turned around and pushed the Knight lightly, allowing his body to separate in several pieces and letting him suffer until his eventual death.

"What the hell!! How are you so strong! Is it because of an artifact!?" Surprised, the traitor began to take several steps back. "It should wear out in a few seconds more, right!?"

Desperately, he attacked Corneus, and their swords clashed several times.

"I'm no longer interested with you. Suffer for your sins, Cult of Diabolos. I and my Kingdom will be your worst enemies in the coming years."

Before reacting why he knew about them, Corneus decapitated him then smoothly left the room, leaving alone the sword.

Later on, an unlucky maid would discover the corpses, and once reported, Klaus and Mary decided to have the castle on lockdown for two weeks, investigating it and finding out some secrets that weren't in the castle.

"... They're here, I knew it."

"The cult?"

"There's no mistaking it, Mary. I have decided to become more active in ruling this kingdom, hopefully to reduce the acts the cult is doing in the shadows."

"..."

Tip: "Narrowing his/her/my eyes" is a good sentence to use, but "Narrowing his/her/my eyelids" are a bit more detailed and better in my opinion.
