"It's the last one," Abe drunkenly called out as he pulled a case of beer out of Hellboy's fridge.
Hellboy quickly shushed him. He stood by the bed where both Liz and Maizie slept. Abe copied him as he stumbled over to him. Maizie hadn't woken up from her fainting episode earlier and Liz curled up in the bed. Maizie laid behind her. It was late and Liz didn't bother try to wake Maizie up to shift her to her room. Abe stood by Hellboy.
"Look at her," Hellboy said to Abe as he pointed to Liz. "She's it, Abe. She's it."
Abe took a drink of his beer while Hellboy continued, "She's my whole wide…you know?" He slurred as he looked up at Abe. Abe nodded in reply. "I would give my life for her. But she also wants me to do the dishes."
"I would die and do the dishes," Abe spoke out loud. Hellboy shushed him again.
"Why is she so mad at me?" Hellboy asked. He turned around, his back leaning against the rise of his bed. "It's not because the room is dirty. Something else."
"Well, ask her then."
Hellboy shook his head, "No."
Abe turned around, his back facing the women. Hellboy continued his tirade.
"Listen Abe. When a woman's mad about something, but she's really mad about something else, you can't ask because then they get angry because you had to ask. Do you know what I mean? Never mind, don't answer that question. You just gotta…find out."
Abe didn't reply as Hellboy finished speaking. They stood side by side, drinking. Then Abe spoke up.
"Listen, listen, Red. I know what's going on with Liz."
They didn't notice behind them that Liz had woken up to their voices. Once she realized what Abe was talking about, she called out his name and stood up on her knees behind the men.
"I'm sorry," Abe said. "He has to know."
"Abe!" Liz admonished.
Before Abe could say another word, Maizie woke up abruptly. She sat up so hard that Liz felt her from behind. She turned to her.
"He's here," Maizie spoke up before anyone else could then the red alarm went off. Abe moved away from the bed as Maizie disappeared in smoke. She reappeared in the Library where she spotted Nuala and her brother, as he called himself Nuada.
"You," She growled as the man turned to her.
"Ahh, my seer," He said as he stepped towards her. Nuala stood behind him.
"I'm not your seer!" Maizie said as she jumped to action by running at him. Nuada cocked his head before he simply grabbed her by the shoulders. She was surprised by his strength.
He looked at her, "You cannot stop what is to come." He pushed her back then twirled on his heel, kicking his foot against her side. She flew to the side and slammed onto the ground. She skidded alongside it and slammed back into Abe's tank. She groaned as the pain flared in her side. The doors flew open, and a crowd of agents approached the door. Abe stepped through them and walked down the steps. He looked to the side and saw the fallen Maizie.
Maizie watched from her position as she sat up. Nuala spoke up, fearful.
"Abraham. No don't…he'll kill you," She pleaded to Abe. Abe dropped the case of beer he held in his hand and reached out for her.
Nuada became angry and spoke in another language as he grabbed Nuala and stuck a knife against her cheek.
"No!" Abe cried out. Maizie stood up slowly as she kept watching the scene.
"I will kill you, Abraham," He said to Abe. "And anyone else if that is necessary."
He sliced Nuala's cheek as he pulled the knife down. A cut appeared on his cheek, identical to Nuala's.
"Well?"
Hellboy's voice rang into the room. Maizie looked over as he entered the library. The crowd parted for him. "Then why don't you just start with me, Your Royal Assness?"
Then he stumbled down the stairs, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, who put those there?"
Maizie rolled her eyes. He was drunk. She took a few steps towards them then Nuada spoke.
"And your weapon of choice?"
She stopped in her tracks. Hellboy replied with a crunch of his stoned hand, "Five-fingered Mary." He stepped past Abe.
"You move and I'll kill your Abraham first," He said as he let Nuala go and walked down to face Hellboy several feet away. He pulled out a staff from his back and swung it around then pointed it to Hellboy.
With her powers of seeing the future, she should've seen this coming. Abe distracted Hellboy and Nuada jumped. He attacked Hellboy who ducked in time. They fought until Hellboy was brought to his knees. Nuada held Hellboy by the throat with the sharp pointed knife at the end of the staff.
He looked up to his sister, "Will you give me the crown piece?"
Nuala shook her head, "No."
He twisted the staff and Hellboy jerked his head up. Maizie took a step towards them and Nuada looked at her sharply.
"Take another step, seer and watch him die," He warned her. She stopped. He looked back at Hellboy and pushed the staff up, forcing him to stand up at knifepoint. Hellboy hit the staff away and Nuada still held him down. "The staff piece."
Nuala shook her head, almost in tears, "no." She looked at Abe who cocked his head at her. Hellboy took the chance and pushed the staff away again. Nuada fought back effortlessly and Hellboy flew back onto the table nearby, breaking it in half. He stepped towards Hellboy, and they continued to fight around the room. Then Hellboy landed in front of Abe.
"Abe?"
"Red, I'm so sorry, but they're linked," Abe apologized.
Krauss's voice piped up from within the crowd and Liz pushed her way through. She stepped through to see Abe, Hellboy, and Maizie off to the side.
"Red."
"Liz."
Liz pointed towards Hellboy, "Red, behind you."
Hellboy whirled around and Nuada stabbed him in the chest. At first there was a stunned silence as Nuada spoke, then Maizie screamed.
"No!" She ran forwards as Nuada pulled the staff out after breaking a piece of the knife off.
As Hellboy fell to the side, Nuada twirled to Maizie and whipped the staff. It knocked against her head, and she flipped. She landed on the ground unconscious. Nuada put his staff back and he stepped over to Maizie and picked her up. Liz's scream echoed through the Library. Hellboy laid on the ground as he watched Nuada hold Maizie and grabbed Nuala. Liz scrambled to Hellboy's side. Abe watched in horror as Maizie had been knocked out and picked up by Nuada.
"Abraham, many people have died for this crown," Nuada spoke. "He will too. If you want to save him, and your seer, and see her again." He jerked Nuala. "You will find the missing piece and bring it to me."
Hellboy's closed as he fell unconscious. Maizie groaned in Nuada's arms, and she looked over. The last thing she saw before she closed her eyes, were Abe staring at them in horror and Liz cradling Hellboy's head.
