Alexander was on his way to the computer room to find Jack and fill him in on the very scary communication he'd just gotten from Corda, when he heard someone cry out. Not someone, he realized, Johnathan. He started running.
"Look you little punk, I don't know who the Hell you think you are or how you got in here, but you are in serious trouble. What the Hell do you think you're doing messing with the computer?!" McKay ranted. Then a low and deadly voice raised the hairs on the back of his neck.
"He is an expert on Alteran programming for the Altimah Project. He is my friend and you are going to apologize to him right the Hell now or I'll make you lick his boots clean as an apology."
McKay turned around and looked at the young man who dared to talk to him like that. "Look, you punk -."
"I said apologize right the Hell now!" Alexander growled.
"I'm the Chief Scientist here! I don't know who he is or what he's doing."
"Did you ask or did you just attack him?"
"Well for all I know he was sabotaging things!"
"Do you think he would have gotten this far into the complex if he didn't have clearance to be here? Check his ID badge, he has clearance. He was doing his job. He hasn't done anything to warrant an attack."
"What is going on here?!" Elizabeth demanded.
"I stopped this guy from messing with the computer." McKay said.
"He wasn't messing with anything, he was doing his job. Apologize or get ready to start licking his boots."
"Rodney, what did you do?" Elizabeth asked.
"I grabbed him and pulled him away from the computer ."
"He did more then that." Johnathan said, from where he was holding his arm. "I did show him my badge, he decided it was fake and grabbed my arm and swung me away. My arm twisted."
"Is it hurt, Johnathan?" Alexander asked.
"A little, I'll be fine."
Alexander held his hand out and to the amazement of both Elizabeth and McKay, it glowed.
"What the Hell?!" McKay exclaimed.
"Boy, you really are out of the loop." Alexander muttered. "Guess you didn't know that Alterans can heal. Still waiting for an apology, McKay."
"I don't need to apologize." McKay insisted.
"Rodney, just apologize." Elizabeth ordered.
"What?! No! I didn't do anything wrong!"
"Just do it. We need these people's help Rodney. You antagonizing them isn't helping anything."
"Fine, I apologize. Satisfied?"
"It'll do. But, seriously, cut back on the attitude. Not to mention, I personally told you he was here and what he was doing. Where's Jack? I need to fill him in on something."
"He's showing Dr. Jackson around, he arrived a little while ago." Dr. Weir answered.
"And the Major?"
"The General may have given him clearance, but he stills needs to get a badge and be put in the system, so he's with security."
"McKay, this is the only word of warning you get. I'll be leaving shortly to pick up my wife and a friend of ours, both of whom are part of the Altimah Project. Curb the attitude, they're both capable of breaking pieces off of you. Johnathan is going to continue checking the systems until he has satisfied himself on the condition of the computer. Let him do his job, he is quite good at it."
"Fine." McKay grumbled.
"Let me know if you have any problems, Johnathan."
"I will." After Alexander had left, Johnathan turned to McKay and said. "He really doesn't like bullies." Which left McKay sputtering and Dr. Weir sighing.
"Jack, just the person I'm looking for." Alexander said when he spotted Jack and Daniel. He pulled out his scanner and set up a dampening field around them.
"I just put up a temporary damping field around us. Jack, Corda called. She and Buffy found and sealed the rift in Cleveland."
"That's good news."
"That's the only good news. Remember Riley Finn and the group he was working with?"
"Ah yes, the moron we arrested. Let me guess, his group moved to Cleveland."
"That would be a good guess. The person in charge, Dr. Maggie Walsh, is dead."
"How?" Jack asked.
"Killed by her own creation. They were doing more then studying the things that come through those rifts. She played modern day Dr. Frankenstein, Jack. She took the body of a soldier, cut it up, spliced different demon parts to it and held them together with cyber connectors. Then it killed her and escaped. Other members of her group tried to capture it alive using some badly made blasters they'd come up with. They fed it. Seems she was powering it with a small nuclear battery and forgot to tell anyone about it. It seemed to like killing, because it killed several humans and demons before Corda and Buffy managed to track it down. Buffy blew out its legs with her pulse pistol and Corda blew off its head. Then Corda had to attach her personal shield to it, because the battery went nuclear. It could have taken a sizable chunk out of the mistake by the lake. As it is, the shield is probably completely drained."
"Are the girls alright?" Jack asked.
"They're being detained by a George Overby of the NID on charges of destroying government property and interfering with a government agency. They could have fought their way out, but didn't want to hurt anyone or give them an idea of what Buffy can do. The NID people didn't know that what looked like decorative earpieces they're both wearing are actually communicators. Which is how Corda was able to let me know what is going on."
"The NID just never stop being idiots. Honestly, we've said it before, we have yet to catch them doing something smart. I'll come with you. We can contact General Hammond on the way. Any other news?"
"McKay found Johnathan running a check on the computers and tried to bully him. I very nearly made McKay lick Johnathan's boots as an apology, but Dr. Weir got him to apologize."
"Damn, Carter would have loved to have seen that."
