Tsume Inuzuka walked with her Ninken partner Kuromaru through Konoha as they made their way to the Konoha Orphanage to drop off some clothes for the children there, many having been made orphans due to the attack on the village by the Kyuubi only a few weeks prior. While she didn't need to do this herself, seeing as she was the head of the clan and could have gotten someone else to do it for her, she wanted to do it anyway. She herself knew that many Inuzuka children had become orphaned by the attack and so she knew that other children needed as much help as they could get.

Walking into the orphanage she was greeted by the staff as she gave a smile.

"Hello Lady Inuzuka. I'm happy to see you here today. What may I ask, have you come here for?" The orphanage's head asked as she greeted Tsume.

"I've come to give some clothing from my clan for the children. I understand that you have been low on resources so my clan wanted to help as much as we could." Tsume handed the woman a few sealing scrolls, the woman bowing great fully for the clan head's kindness.

"Thank you so much my lady. I know this will help the children a lot and the fact that you would do this for us even with problems I know you all must be dealing with in these trying times makes me very grateful."

Tsume bowed to the woman out of respect as she began to leave. "Come Kuromaru. Let's get home…Kuromaru?" Tsume looked for her partner as she realized he was missing. Looking around she finally noticed him entering a room deeper into the orphanage as she began to call for him. "Kuromaru, what are you doing?" It was only then as she came closer to the room that she heard the sound of a baby crying. Coming to the entrance of the small room she saw her partner next to a small crib where the crying was originating.

Entering Tsume noticed the Ninken put his nose through the wooden bars as the baby began to quiet down. Tsume was amazed as the only ones he ever did this to were her own children when they were little. Coming to the crib, Tsume finally got a look at the baby and realized exactly who it was.

"Naruto." Tsume whispered as she thought of the baby's mother. Her old friend Kushina Uzumaki, who had been killed by the Kyuubi just after giving birth to the baby.

Tsume bent down as she went to hold the baby boy but hesitated for a moment as she remembered the rules the Third Hokage gave to the clan heads in regards to the boy. He had stated that none of them were to make contact with the Jinchuriki as a way to keep anyone from thinking a clan was trying to gain power off of him. Tsume knew why this rule was put in place. When the boy was brought out to the council Fugaku Uchiha had asked to raise him as his wife had legal custody of him as his Godmother bit the Hokage had shut that down. Stating that as the Jinchuriki no one clan was allowed to keep him. And Tsume knew this rule would be

enforced as the Hokage had made it very clear to Danzo when he asked if he could take the boy. Tsume shuddered at the amount of killing intent her leader had displayed.

Suddenly the boy began to cry once more as Tsume was snapped from her memory. Looking down to him once more her motherly instincts told her to pick him up to calm him but her brain told her it wouldn't be wise. Soon Naruto's cries intensified as Tsume's instincts won out, picking up the baby into her arms she watched him begin to stop crying.

Opening his bright blue eyes he looked to the strange woman who was holding him as she gave a warm smile to him. The baby only looked at her, a bit of confusion on his face as she began to walk to a chair at the side of the room where she sat with him in her arms. Soon the furry creature who had calmed him down before came up to him and laid his nose on the baby as he grabbed its nose. Feeling how soft its nose was, the baby began to giggle. Tsume smiled down at the boy as she thought about what she could possibly do for him. She knew he didn't deserve to stay here. But what could she do?

That's when she got an idea. Looking at the baby she watched as he snuggled into her arms and began to fall asleep once more. "Don't worry little one, soon you'll have someone to look after you. And that's a promise." Tsume gave him a kiss on his forehead as she placed him back in his crib before both her and Kuromaru left the orphanage, Tsume working through her plan to make sure Naruto would never be alone again.
