In Age 737 , Planet Vegeta was destroyed by the tyrannical Frieza. But thanks to a kind mother and her defiance towards death, she sends her only child off towards Earth, unknowingly setting events down a slightly different path. Landing on Earth, the young Ayote has yet to awaken from her stasis, but her sleeping form was found by an old man, who would later become the master of two historical figures for Earth…

It was the next morning. Ayote awakens with blurry vision, staring up at what could be assumed to be a ceiling. She feels around, touching something soft. Sitting up, she finds herself on some kind of sofa, a table in front of her with some kind of dishware, and a monitor with strange antenna. The area she was in was small, though spacious enough for a few people at least.

Voice: "Finally up, huh?"

The sudden voice spooks Ayote, forcing her to jump from the sofa and turn to the source of the voice. It was… some kind of brown reptilian creature. The flippers on its forelegs and hindlegs indicate it being an aquatic creature. Was this the dominant species on Earth?

Turtle: "Oh. Sorry for startling you. I was just concerned since you were out of it for a couple of days."

Ayote's mind froze for a moment. A couple of days? She thought back to what happened before she found herself in her current location. Planet Vegeta got destroyed, she cried until… the pod's systems kicked in and put her into stasis. She must've been mentally exhausted so her brain just shut down until now.

Turtle: "Say… Maybe you should tell Master Roshi you're awake. He'll be ecstatic."

The girl tilted her head at the name. 'Master' Roshi? The name alone put her on edge, since 'Master' was just another term for 'Lord'. In her mind anyway. Still, she kept a clear head and moved past the reptile and looked outside. She then found an old man in some tropical looking armor laying on some kind of outdoors sofa. It didn't look very comfortable to her. The old man looked up from his book, which featured… very odd pictures of girls in revealing poses. Ayote didn't really get it, but whatever it is, the old man was startled and hid the book away… futilely.

Roshi: "Oh! Young lady! You're awake! I was… uh… Ahem! My name's Roshi, but people call me Master Roshi. Or the Turtle Hermit because of my turtle shell."

Ayote looked and, indeed, there was a fake shell laying on the grass next to the old man. She looked back at him.

Roshi: "Um… What's your name?"

The girl did not respond. She was still a bit on edge, but she didn't sense she was in immediate danger. Still, she didn't exactly trust the old timer.

Roshi: "...Not much of a talker, huh? I guess I wouldn't be either if I just met someone from out of the blue."

Ayote looked at the old man before turning to the bright sunny blue sky. It was quite different from the skies of Planet Vegeta. And the gravity in comparison was much softer. She jumped into the air and began floating, much to Roshi's shock seeing a person just suspend themselves in midair. She looked around the immediate area, seeing that she seemed to have landed on a very small island in the middle of the ocean. There was landmasses nearby, mostly mountains, but not a lot else. She then spots her pod, which seems to have settled itself in its crater, though now flooded with sea water, thanks to the hatch being open. With a sigh, she descends back down and turns to the now frightened Roshi.

Roshi: "W-Well now. You're… um… quite light to be able to fly like that. I-Is that one of your alien powers?"

Ayote tilts her head, as if she had something ridiculous. But as she processes this, her stomach growls viciously. This calms Roshi down as both of them realize that the young girl probably hasn't had anything in a while.

Roshi: "Oh. Oh dear. I totally forgot to get some groceries… I usually order pizza but um… They are running unusually late today…"

Ayote looked at the beach and walked toward it. She saw some large shadows swimming in the water earlier and figured that would be considered lunch. She jumps into the water and after a minute of, what Roshi saw, splashing, the girl comes back carrying a large fish, knocked out by her wrestling it. Roshi could only stare with his arms drooped.

Roshi: "Er… That works too I guess."

The old man immediately stops Ayote from eating the fish raw though as he closes in.

Roshi: "Hold it, kiddo. Fish like this can be dangerous to eat raw. Give me a minute and I can help prepare it for the both of us!"

The Saiyan looks at Roshi with a bit of a glare, but… Being she didn't know much about the planet or its food sources, she decided to comply. Roshi immediately gets a little fire going as the fish is put over it and cooked. The smell of the cooked fish only made Ayote hungrier, but eventually, both of them were allowed to eat. Ayote ate a majority of the fish, surprising Roshi that such a large thing got turned into a skeleton in one sitting; a fish that big would be worth five or six days of food, even on a three course diet. As the two sat in silence, the girl let out a slight sigh. This stranger seemed to mean well enough to her so she finally spoke.

Ayote: "...Ayote."

Roshi: "Hm?"

Ayote: "My name. You asked for it, remember? My name is Ayote."

Roshi: "Ayote, huh? Quite an odd name."

Ayote: "And 'Turtle Hermit' isn't?"

Roshi: "...Fair point. So… Where are you from?"

Ayote: "I'm from… Planet Vegeta…"

Roshi tilted his head, unsure of what kind of planet that even is. He then sees the girl unwrap her tail from around her waist, which acted as a belt up until now. The tail waved around lazily in the air.

Roshi: "Goodness. Even with that tail, you'd still pass for a human. But what are you doing here anyway?"

Ayote grew silent, looking visibly uncomfortable. This makes Roshi flinch, thinking he may have strayed too far into questioning this new lass.

Roshi: "Err… You know what? We'll just settle on your name for now. Ayote, huh? Well, Ayote. Welcome to my little slice of paradise."

She looked at the old man with a look of… calm. Like paradise was what she was looking for after everything that's happened. Time would tell if and when Ayote would tell more of her story, but Roshi was satisfied with just a name for now.

Days pass and Ayote has begun to adjust to her time on the small island. While Roshi was beyond floored by the little girl's huge appetite, he was impressed by how easily she was able to get her catches. One day, while Roshi was training to keep himself in shape and from being stiff, Ayote was watching with Turtle from a distance, the young Saiyan turning to the reptile about what the old man was doing.

Ayote: "What's Master Roshi doing?"

Turtle: "He's doing some training. Believe it or not, he's a martial arts master. While he doesn't teach as much these days, he's very open to taking in new students… Under certain conditions…"

Turtle didn't want to elaborate since Ayote was way too young to know about Roshi's more perverted nature. Ayote didn't seem to care about that though as she just stared at Roshi's training. It didn't take long for Roshi to notice, causing him to lose his focus and fall mid kick.

Roshi: "Eh? Ayote? What's wrong, girly?"

Ayote: "What's 'martial arts'?"

Roshi: "Hm? Interested in learning?"

Ayote was a bit sheepish since Turtle did just say that Roshi would only accept students under certain conditions. Of course, Roshi couldn't put Ayote through that at her age so he settled for a different criteria.

Roshi: "Tell you what. If you show me that you're serious about wanting to learn martial arts, I'll accept you as a student. Grow, learn, and play as a child now before stepping into that phase of your training."

Ayote: "So… Live like a child?"

She clearly didn't like being looked down upon. Unknowingly, this was just her Saiyan pride showing, but to Roshi, it just seemed like she was just a bit spoiled. That said, she did take the talk to heart, deciding to just… live a little… by firing a ki blast at the ocean, causing walls of water to rise. Roshi's sunglasses fell off a bit as the shock in his eyes and on his face showed. Clearly, he wasn't expecting this runt to have that much power. But he could sense that Ayote was using too much energy at once with that blast and so, he decided to approach her on the matter.

Roshi: "That's a mighty fine display of power, Ayote. I'm actually quite impressed. But you are using way too much energy for something like that."

Ayote: "Hm? But you told me to play. This is how I played back on my old home planet."

This made Roshi's jaw drop a bit; if this is how they played then he'd need to change that. Though he said he wouldn't teach her until she was a bit older, he did feel obligated to at least teach her how to control her ki. So he came up with an idea.

Roshi: "Alright. How about I give you a free lesson on ki control, Ayote?"

Ayote: "Ki control? What's ki?"

Roshi: "Ki is basically another name for energy. It is the life energy within all living beings. Everything has ki - you, me, the fish in the ocean, the trees in a forest… But very few can actually control their ki effectively. Without effective ki control, you waste too much energy and will only die from it."

The idea of dying from a lack of ki control did get Ayote's attention. She didn't want to just die after escaping the fate of her planet. After her mother just risked her life to save Ayote's too… So she listened intently.

Roshi: "Now another thing. Playing like that is very dangerous to other people. I know me and Turtle are the only ones around here, but say I take you to the city. You don't want to blow up buildings, do you?"

Ayote: "Um…"

Roshi: "... Sigh. I'll show you how we play here on Earth. You'll learn the ropes, I'm sure."

Ayote wasn't quite sure, but regardless, as a studious type of Saiyan, she was eager to learn more about Earth. Of course, the warrior side of her did beam with excitement at the prospect of getting stronger through learning martial arts.

Three years had passed, and Ayote, now a six year old child, had slightly developed and adapted to Earth's calmer ecosystem. Roshi had taken the time during these years to bring her to the city, namely to an amusement park, to play around. She was certainly an explorer, curious about every little thing that intrigued her. During these three years, Ayote did open up more about her planet and what she was doing there - that her planet was destroyed by a tyrant and that she, as far as she knew, was the only one left of her kind. Roshi did feel bad for the young girl, since the idea of being the last of your kind was not a pretty thought. She did also mention the significance of the full moon and how staring at it affects Saiyans, turning them into their Oozaru form, which did explain her odd insistence of going home or going to bed early when the moon was full those nights. Roshi did opt to cut off Ayote's tail, but she was very defensive about keeping it, saying it was the last connection between her and the world she did at least call home. Roshi was reluctant, but when he was told that the Oozaru form could be controlled with enough mental training while in the form, he respected her wishes. In fact, during full moons, he did offer to train her Oozaru form. This ultimately led to tonight, during their Oozaru training, Roshi sat on standby, waiting for the full moon to make itself known. They settled on putting the training far from their home, in the wastelands far from any civilization. As long as Roshi was able to keep Ayote's Great Ape form from wandering too close to any city or village, everything was golden; all Roshi had to focus on was evasion, something he was able to do. The two stood in the mountainous range, the wind blowing as Ayote stood, sunglasses on as she took in the sight of the moon.

Ayote: "Ready, Master Roshi?"

Roshi: "As always. This is one exercise I didn't think I'd get into…"

Ayote: "Alright… Tonight is going to be different though… This time, I want you to try calling out to me."

Roshi: "Calling out? How would that help?"

Ayote: "Just… an idea. My mom taught me that getting back mental control over the Oozaru was a difficult task. But what if there is someone there to call you from the brink? Would that restore your mind somehow?"

Roshi was unsure, but he was willing to try at least. He gave a thumbs up, ready to give it his all. Ayote nods and takes off her shades, tossing them aside. She had her eyes closed before she looked up to face the moon. Her body froze before her chest started beating. Her mind goes blank, her eyes turning red before canines formed in her teeth. Fur grew over her skin as her Saiyan armor grew out with her. As her size grew out, Roshi got ready, getting into a defensive stance. The transformation was complete, and a mighty roar echoed into the night; Great Ape Ayote was on the loose. As Roshi did before, he kept the Oozaru's attention on him, kicking the girl's back.

Roshi: "I hope you know what you're doing… Ayote! It's me, Master Roshi! Can you hear me!?"

Roshi immediately dodged a mouth beam from Ayote, quickly jumping around to avoid the destruction. He then avoids a foot slamming down on him before climbing up and slamming a kick to Ayote's chin, knocking the Great Ape back.

Roshi: "Ayote! Wake up, girly! You gotta get a handle on that form!"

The Great Ape roars out before slamming a fist on a mountain, aiming to cause a rock fall. Roshi jumps back from the ensuing rock fall but then charges up, bulking up his muscles as he then slams both hands onto a falling rock above him, sending it flying back at Ayote. Ayote is flung back from the force, with Roshi a bit worried he hit her too hard. But that moment of weakness was all Ayote needed to slam a fist onto Roshi, sending him to a rock wall. The force of the hit and the impact left the old man pretty battered, his sunglasses dropping off his face as he struggled to get up.

Roshi: "Ayote… I let my guard down… She warned me not to do that under any circumstances…"

Ayote stomped over and grabbed Roshi, aiming to squeeze him. But as she stared at the weakened old man, she paused. Roshi noticed and tried to call out to her.

Roshi: "Ayote! Is my voice getting through!? Come on, lass, you can take control of your form if you just concentrate on your heart!"

Ayote listened, her ears perking up. Her hands shook as she held Roshi tightly, but her grip loosened. Her mind flashed back to her mother, her warm smile, Gine and Bardock, even if the latter was stern most of the time, and… Kakarot. Roshi's voice could be heard finally, bringing her senses slowly to the forefront. Her voice quite booming and deep, she spoke.

Ayote: "M… Mas… ter… Ro… shi…"

Roshi was shocked. She was coming to. Roshi pressed on, reassuring her that everything was going to be okay, leading to Ayote slowly putting Roshi down as she sat down herself, looking apologetic.

Ayote: "I… hurt… you… I'm… sorry…"

Roshi: "Oh this? Hah! D-Don't be so hard on yourself. It was my fault for letting my guard down. But how do you feel? Do you have control over that form?"

Ayote: "A… bit… Mind… still… frazzled…"

Roshi understood. It was progress though, and one he was actually proud of. If she could get a handle on her transformation, then at least no one will be hurt. At least he hoped so. After a couple of months of trying, progress was made and things were starting to look up for Ayote.

The year was Age 749 . Ayote was now fifteen years old. Her body had matured significantly, in a growth spurt that shocked Roshi initially considering her body seemed to have stagnated for so long. She was roughly the size of a teen now, now reaching Roshi's height a bit. During these years, Roshi continued to raise her as if she were his child, and as time went on, he eventually put aside his usual perverted ways. Even when he saw the developing Ayote, he didn't see just any woman who he'd take the first chance to ogle; he saw what he could proudly say was his granddaughter. In the last two years, the two trained in martial arts, just as Roshi promised, with Ayote becoming a proud student of the Turtle School. Today though was a special day. Ayote, wearing a simple white sundress and matching sun hat instead of her usual Saiyan armor, having hung it away since she began training in her Turtle School gi, was hanging some clothes to dry, seeing it as a good day to do laundry. Roshi was nearby sun bathing until the two heard some splashing in the water.

Turtle: "Hey, you two."

Ayote: "Turtle! There you are. Did you get lost again?"

Turtle: "Uh… Well… See… I was rescued by someone. And um… I think Ayote should come meet them?"

Roshi stands up and approaches Turtle, curious as to why.

Turtle: "The someone that saved me… He has a tail like Ayote's."

This catches Ayote's attention, she turns to Roshi with an almost pleading gaze to come and meet them. Roshi, of course, understood and hopped onto Turtle's back, with Ayote floating beside them for half the trip before landing on Turtle's back as to not alert anyone of her ability to fly. As they reach the coast, they are greeted by a blue haired teenage woman wearing a pink loose sleeper shirt, a soft and astonished look to her. But Ayote's gaze immediately fixes onto the other figure - a young boy wearing a blue gi and wielding a pole in its sheathe on his back. His tail seemed to wave freely, but what caught her attention most was his hair and his look. Brief flashbacks came back to her like a storm at sea, emotions started building up. It was as if… She had found a long lost friend, who she thought she'd never see again. Without thinking much on it, she calls out to the boy.

Ayote: "KAKAROT!"

The boy does respond, but seemed confused. Roshi and the girl he was speaking to seemed just as confused, but Roshi did quickly gather what was going on. But what followed wasn't quite what Ayote expected.

Goku: "Huh? Who's 'Kakarot'? Is that some kind of food? …Anyway, my name's Son Goku. Nice to meet ya!"
