A/N Alot has happened since Anubis' attack. Timeline wise that was one week ago. I know a genetic code can't be gone over as quickly as I've implied in this story in order to find the Ancient gene. On the other hand, the SGC does have access to advanced and state of the art equipment, it's not outside the realm of possibility, just far fetched.

After all of the hostile demons had been dealt with and the non hostile ones healed as best they could be, the very tired group headed for the airport. Faith, Gunn and Giles boarded the Chase family's plane and Alexander and Corda boarded the military transport, the Altimah needed to be retrieved from Colorado. After getting some sleep, they met up to discuss recent events and make decisions.
"Jack told me the President wants Corda and me, along with the Altimah, to go with an expedition to Atlantis. They could stow the Altimah in the hanger bay of the Prometheus to get us there."
"The Altimah isn't meant for long voyages, it would be the best way we could get her there." Corda commented. "But the timing isn't great. Us being named a defense contractor means we can finally begin actually producing tech, instead of just reverse engineering it and building as needed. We can rent space, hire employees. The new Mayor, Chris Jacobson, he's been making a good effort at cleaning the corruption up. I was hoping to schedule a meeting with him to discuss what having a production plant here in Sunnydale would entail. I'd prefer we at least get a plant up and running before we go. But I really want to go. I want to see Atlantis again. It was our home, Alexander. Even more then the Congeria was."
"I know." He said softly. "I want to go too. But you're right, we need to at least get the plant up and running. The SGC teams need to be outfitted sooner, rather then later. And the expedition needs to be outfitted as well. Right now there are only two people on the entire planet who can make any of what we've patented, Oz and Jonno. And I need to get back to the outpost. The Chief Scientist is a bully. I caught him hassling Jonno, who is currently there by himself. I do not like leaving my people exposed."
"Johnathan would say he can take of himself." Corda said with a smile.
"I'm not saying he can't take of himself, I'm saying we watch each other's backs. We're a team, a family, we look out for each other."
"That reminds me." Buffy said. "On my visit to see Willow at the nursing home last week, I found out her parents are thinking of moving her, to a less expensive place. They're acting like she's a financial burden. From what Willow said, they make alot of money from their lectures, so why move her somewhere else?"
"Because for them, she is a burden." Alexander said quietly. "As long as they had a genius daughter, they barely had to concern themselves with, in their opinion, she wasn't much of an issue. Now she's probably an embarrassment."
"Gods, you're probably right." Jenny muttered. "Maybe we can offer to take care of her? Her expenses, I mean. She's relearning, she'll be ready for kindergarten level education soon. And she's still one of us."
"She is." Giles agreed. "Her parents will probably welcome the suggestion. I'm willing to speak to them myself."
"They don't know you, Giles." Alexander said. "But they do know Xander, I can speak to them."
The others agreed to let him and then they moved on to another concern.
"The Key business might not be over." Gunn told them. "Just pulling that stuff out of Hope protects Hope, but Doyle got another vision just before we joined you in Cleveland. All he's getting is impressions, something powerful, bigger then we've ever dealt with and nasty and looking for what it calls the Key, which we decided was that energy in Hope."
"You may be right." Giles said. "It would be too easy to just think removing it from her, eliminated the threat itself. And there's another issue. Alexander, I was wondering if you could go to the hospital tomorrow. There's been reports of people going spontaneously insane. I know of no known demon who could cause that."
"I'll go scan them, see what I can find. Insanity isn't something our healing ability can handle, but I can still check for a cause."
The sound of a phone ringing stopped their discussion as Alexander went to answer it. After a few minutes he came back.
"That was Jack, he had what he considers very good news. Senator Kinsey has been arrested, for his involvement with the NID project in Cleveland. When he was arrested, he started ranting about President Hayes. Apparently he considers him an idiot for refusing him as a running mate in the election. Did you know he considers himself a fundamentalist Christian? He's convinced, he's meant to be the President, that it's God's will and that Hayes stole it from him. It seems he had some plans of his own for the demons the NID was collecting, once they had those control chips or whatever they were, working. To intimidate the President into accepting him on the ballot and then removing him as a obstruction to his plans. The project having to be shut down and restarted meant he ran out of time. There was also another plan, to frame Jack for shooting him and use the sympathy to get him on the ballet."
"You're kidding me." Corda said. "Is he insane?"
"Certainly sounds like it, a supposed Christian using demons for a political agenda." Giles mused. "It sounds like the start up for a joke. But people died and it's no joke."
"No wonder Jack thinks it's a good thing he's been arrested." Alexander agreed.
And on that note, the meeting ended and everyone returned to their work.
