Since Alexander had promised Jack he'd keep him in the loop on the situation in Sunnydale, he called Jack and let him know about General Gregor and the Hell goddess.

"You're kidding me? Another wanna be god?" Jack protested.

"As Corda pointed out, we acknowledge gods in this dimension, Jack. A god is something with more power then we have that inspires worship. There were humans in Pegasus that wanted to worship us or the Wraith. One of the reasons our people shed their human desires before Ascending was because we believed we won't actually be gods, but it's very tempting to let people think you are."

"Yeah, I can see that. So what's the plan?"

"Buffy is the only one who has seen her, when she found the monk who told us about the Key. She's patrolling and keeping her communicator open. We're monitoring her. General Gregor believes the knowledge of the Key being gone will dishearten her enough to put her back in her prison. The human they created to be her prison is her Achilles heel. He dies, so does she."

"Kill the human, you can stop her."

"It will probably come down to that, yes. Once we find her, we can figure out how. So how are things at the SGC?"

"That half Ascended ass, Anubis, survived me blowing up his ship. He possessed an astronaut, who passed on the possession to someone else, until he was in one of our people. He made it onto the base and even managed to dial the 'gate. Carter did some of her technomagic and call forwarded it to a frozen world with no DHD."

"I'd send the Prometheus to check on him, Jack. He could have an affect on the body he's possessing to keep it from succumbing to the cold and there are other ways to power and dial the 'gate."

"Damn, you're right. We once powered one with a lightening bolt because the DHD was damaged. I'll talk to Hammond. Thanks for the reminder and let us know if we can do anything to help with your god problem."

"If I was going to worship a god Jack, I'd worship Janus. He's a god I recognize."

"Really? Isn't he one of the Roman ones?"

"He was one of ours before that. The Romans seem to have been influenced by the Alterans at some point. Just look at the language."

"True. Anyway, call if you need anything."

"I will."

"I found her." Buffy announced a couple of days later. "In a penthouse apartment. And I saw some of the ugly little warty guys. They really are ugly."

"Did you see her become the human?" Alexander asked.

"No, but all I saw was her. So I have no idea what he looks like."

"So, we need a way to let her know the Key is gone." Alexander mused.

"I could follow her for awhile, see if she's doing anything about finding it. That might give us an idea of how we could let her know."

"Good idea." Corda said. "The more intelligence we have, the better a plan we can come up with."

"I don't think she's from the dimension where the tears connect to." Buffy said a couple of days later. "Neither she nor her warty guys have a problem with sunlight, although her guys don't go out in public during the day because people might see them, but I have seen them through the window of the apartment they're in and they have no problems with the curtains being open and light shining in."

"That's a good point and a scary thought that there could be other dimensions with demons in them." Faith grumbled.

"The universe is infinite and continuously growing. Don't think about it, trust me, it'll give you a headache." Alexander answered. "What has she been doing Buffy?"

"Shopping, the Mall and the local magic shop."

"The magic shop? She's using Magic to try to track the Key down." Giles decided.

"Makes sense, we know it can detect the energy, just like my scanner can." Alexander said. "But that might help us. Her efforts will fail, because it's not here. Keep watch Buffy. When the spell fails to find anything, you may see her retreat back into her prison and be able to identify the guy later."

"Will do." She gave a jaunty salute and headed out.

"She'd never make in the military." Alexander commented dryly.

"Oh gods, no." Giles was in complete agreement.

"She went to the zoo." Buffy announced the next morning. "She broke a cobra out and made it bigger. If kinda had a human like face and tiny arms."

"She mutated it? That takes a lot of Magic." Giles said. "What happened then?"

"I followed the snake. It criss crossed all over town and then it went to the penthouse, where she was waiting. She was pissed. She killed it. Pretty much just tore it apart. Then she hit her head and I don't know. It's like the universe blinked or something. I went home."

"I wonder if she doesn't have her own protections, like the Mayor did?" Corda suggested. "It might explain why no one can track the male. Because no one sees him. As in notice me not."

"That would make killing him hard, if no one can see him. We may need to come up with another strategy, if we can't identify the male and kill him." Alexander said thoughtfully, turning ideas over in his head. "Actually, I have an idea."
