Well well well. It's that time again! Let's see the aftermath of what happened between Spyro and Amedeo! And a bit of storytelling! WOOT WOOT!
Chapter 12: Jet's History with One of the Group
Cynder watched the volcano collapse, yet felt no pain from Spyro. Her hope was up that he did not get hurt. Suddenly, she felt as if a boulder had just landed on her. She immediately fell to her stomach, not expecting to feel such pain and weight, biting her tongue to prevent herself from screaming in pain. Cynder got to her feet and bolted towards the now collapsed Volcano. Jet followed right behind her. Hunter looked at the two dragonesses and immediately understood what happened. Hunter yelled, "Spyro got hurt in the collapse! We need to get him out of there now!" Gloria and Sparx immediately followed Hunter as he followed behind the two dragonnesses.
Cynder and Jet began to dig through the debris, looking for any sign of Spyro. Hunter made it over next, followed by Gloria, then Sparx. Hunter and Gloria worked together, moving smaller chunks of debris together. Sparx flew over to Cynder and Jet asked her, "Are you able to tell if he's still alive?!" Cynder replied honestly, "I can still feel the weight of the boulder that hit him. Meaning that he is buried underneath it. If I can still feel it, he is still alive. H-He has to be." Sparx replied, "I can feel it in my wings. He is still alive. Do not fret."
Jet and Cynder worked together. They both saw a gargantuan boulder and nodded to one another. They walked towards the boulder and placed their front feet on it. Jet said, "On three, we give it our all and then some!" Cynder nodded her agreement and Jet said, "One, Two, Three!" On three, both dragonesses pushed with all their might. The boulder moved slowly, but surely. Cynder and Jet roared and gave a powerful push together.
The boulder was sent rolling swiftly into another boulder. The two boulders collided and shattered. Cynder and Jet saw purple and Cynder sighed in relief. Cynder yelled, "We found him!" Hunter ran over and checked for a pulse. He sighed in relief as he said, "He's still alive."
Cynder looked around and heard a cough from below her. Cynder and Jet looked down. They saw movement below them as the rocks covering Spyro moved. Spyro opened his eyes slowly and looked around, recognizing his group. Sparx flew over and said, "You scared us man!" Spyro said, "Sorry all." He flashed a weak smile and immediately got to his feet weakly as he looked around and asked, "Where is Amedeo?" Jet walked to his side to take some of Spyro's weight and replied, "We only saw you, Spyro." Cynder eyed Jet suspiciously. Spyro looked at Jet in shock but leaned on her as he said, "That's not good. He must've managed to escape my grasp just before the boulder struck us."
Cynder asked, "So. Did you get hit at all until the boulder struck you?" Spyro hastily lied, "No. I was able to evade all strikes." Cynder said, "Alright. Where to next?" Spyro answered, "I need to recover. You can't heal me as you healed Jet just a little bit ago." Hunter said, "Sounds like a plan."
With The Chronicler:
Ignitus paged through Jet's book that had now appeared. He said, "Why would she recognize one of them? Unless, one of the group has a second book. But that's never happened! Then again, a lot of impossible things have happened in a short span of time." Ignitus looked around and saw a book on top of the highest bookcase. Ignitus said, "Now who would put a book that high up where no Chronicler would look. Intriguing." Ignitus's curiosity peaked and he flew up and grabbed it. It was a smaller book with no name on it.
Ignitus opened the first page and gasped in disbelief. Ignitus read through the book and said, "I see. It's coming together now. But how?!" Noise at the entrance of his cave drew his attention. Ignitus muttered, "No one should know where this place is. This could spell trouble." Ignitus prepared to fight, but his hostility vanished as soon as he recognized who was at the entrance.
Back with the group:
Spyro's group had found a place to camp after gathering the materials for Gloria to make her weapons. Spyro got up to hunt for the group, but was pinned by Cynder. Spyro looked at her and joked, "Right here? Right now? In front of them? I don't think they'd appreciate a show, Cyn." Cynder blushed and said, "Hush you. I pinned you so you can rest! You are nowhere near fully recovered. Take the night off for once!" Spyro opened his mouth to argue, but Cynder interrupted him with a kiss.
Jet looked at the two and sighed quietly. She said, "I can hunt for the group." Cynder looked at Jet and said, "I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you. If I didn't need to stay here and keep Spyro from doing anything, I'd join you. He refuses to rest even when he needs it." Hunter said, "I can go with her. Safety in numbers as they say." Jet eyed Hunter curiously and said, "Of course." Hunter and Jet left the camp shortly thereafter.
With Hunter and Jet:
Jet asked Hunter, "So. Why'd you wanna come with me?" Hunter said, "I know what the other scent on you is now. It's almost the same as the one that comes from Cynder, but slightly different and much fainter, meaning it happened a few years ago and hasn't been refreshed. Meaning Spyro has marked you as well, although he was younger back then. That's why the scent is different. Slightly different personality back then. I wanted to ask you about it. And of course, safety in numbers, and don't worry. I can keep a secret. So. Tell me about it." Jet looked around to make sure they were alone and she sighed as she said, "I knew someone would recognize it eventually. I am shocked you're able to smell it as a Cheetah!" Hunter replied honestly, "I will admit. Me too. But, I can not argue that both you and Cynder are attractive. So maybe since I find you both attractive, I am able to smell the mark. Or maybe, since I am a male, I can smell the mark regardless, but that doesn't add up, because Gloria could smell it as well. Honestly, I have no clue."
Jet blushed and said, "Sorry Hunter. My heart belongs to Spyro." Hunter laughed and said, "No worries. I have my eyes set on someone else. I just made an observation is all. I can not believe Spyro has marked two mates, and they have marked him. Intriguing to say the least." Jet said, "It is quite strange, you are right. Especially at such a young age Spyro and I marked another. Twelve is fairly young for dragons to mark one another. It usually happens once both dragons have reached adulthood, not as a preteen." Hunter asked as he nocked an arrow, "Care to tell me about that night?" Hunter loosed the arrow as Jet began to speak, killing a wild boar.
Jet said, "Where to start the story? I'll start from the beginning. It had been a week after I got lost."
Jet's Memory:
Jet had been with the Wyvern camp for around a week now. Every other day, she had been going to the nearby river to cover herself in mud. As she had been practicing this quite frequently, no one could tell it was just mud at this point. Her adoptive mother said, "Jet! Come here!" Jet walked towards her mother. Her mother said, "You need to be careful at night. There have been multiple sightings of a large dragon flying around here. We do not know its intentions. It might be friendly, but it also might be hostile and take advantage of its strength. It could seriously hurt you!"
Jet said, "Thanks for the warning mom. I will be safer than usual at night." Her mother smiled brilliantly and said, "That's all I ask. Thank you."
That night, Jet went out yet again. She had gone to the river to apply another layer of mud to keep herself looking like a Wyvern. As she was applying the mud to her body, she heard the bushes behind her rustle. She whirled around to defend herself when she saw a purple dragon. She gulped in fear, expecting to be slain on the spot. The purple dragon said calmly, "It's alright. I am not a threat." Jet still kept her guard up but for some reason, the dragon's voice calmed her. The Purple continued, "Strange to see a wyvern applying mud to itself wouldn't you say?" Jet didn't answer and the Purple continued, "You missed a spot. On your tail. It's strange how the spot you missed has a midnight purplish color. Never heard of a Wyvern with the colors of a dragon. Funny."
Jet finally spoke and said as she stuttered, "I-I don't know what y-you're t-talking about." The Purple smiled and said, "Of course not. Oh Ancestors no! We forgot introductions. My name's Spyro. What's yours?" Spyro sat down to assure Jet he wasn't hostile. Jet felt even more at ease in Spyro's presence and said, still slightly stuttering, "M-My names J-Jet." Spyro beamed and said, "Jet. A beautiful name! It suits you well." Jet felt herself blush and replied, "Why are you complimenting me?" Spyro asked, "Am I not allowed to compliment others?"
Jet said, "It's not that! You just met me!" Spyro chuckled lightly and said, "It's the way I was raised." Jet said, "Must have some great parents then." Spyro answered, "I do." He then asked, "So, what's a lone Wyvern like you doing out here applying mud to yourself?" Jet looked at Spyro and for some reason felt like she could trust him at least a little bit and replied, "Fine. You caught me! I am not a Wyvern. I am a dragon. I got lost about a week ago now. I was running from something, I don't remember what, when I fell into some mud. The noise of me running away; from whatever it was drew the attention of a nearby Wyvern camp. Several Wyverns came to investigate the noise, only to find me. Since I was covered in mud, they couldn't tell I was a dragon. They thought I was a Wyvern who had gotten separated from their parents. Now I'm scared to see what happens if they do find out I'm a dragon!"
Spyro said, "You can always come with me. It'd be nice to have a companion besides my brother Sparx." Jet said seriously, "Are you out of your mind?! Did you seriously think just because you're a dragon like myself, I'd just go with you?! We just met. You could have malicious intent. I will not be going with you." Spyro responded calmly, "Alright. But, I will be coming here nightly to make sure you're still okay. It's your choice to meet me or not. I would rather not have anyone get hurt. Not while I can help it." Jet eyed Spyro suspiciously and said, "You're asking me to meet you nightly." Jet thought to herself, 'It would be nice to talk to someone about everything. But I just met him! However, he seems to have no evil intent, but he could be a master at hiding it! I will need to think about this.'
Jet said, "Tell you what Spyro. I will think about it. No promises." Spyro said, "That is all I can ask." Jet and Spyro heard the bushes rustle around them. Spyro immediately leapt in front of Jet and said over his shoulder, "Go! I got this!" Jet looked surprised at Spyro's actions but obeyed without hesitation. Jet booked it back towards the Wyvern Camp as she heard the sounds of battle behind her.
Jet made it to the Wyvern Camp and caught her breath. She looked back and muttered, "Maybe I should've tried to help." Jet shook her head and said quietly, "No. I have literally no combat experience yet! I am only twelve! But as far as I could tell, so is Spyro! Why is he already fighting?! Wait. I remember tales of the Purple Dragons. They're destined to bring hope and defeat evil if I do recall. But at twelve?! That's impossible, unless a great evil has emerged! Spyro has to fight that all alone?! Poor guy. Must be lonely. Hmmm." Jet leapt onto the roof of her house quietly and crept into her bedroom window. She laid down and rested.
Back in Present Time:
Hunter said, "That's interesting. You met Spyro by pure chance." Jet replied, "Was it really chance if we marked one another? They say mates find one another no matter what." Hunter replied, "True. But you met him by the river that you used to apply mud to yourself of all places." Jet giggled and said, "I know. But back to the story. Let's go a month into meeting Spyro. That's when I started falling in love with him."
Jet's Memory:
Jet had a pep in her step as she walked towards the river to meet Spyro and reapply mud to herself. She had been meeting with Spyro for a month now. They had gotten to know one another fairly well. She had also met Spyro's brother, Sparx, after he decided to follow Spyro one night to find out where he always went at night. She giggled at the thought that Spyro used to actually think he was a dragonfly, albeit a fat one.
Jet arrived at the river, used to seeing the bloodstain around it after she first met Spyro and he had to fight. Jet always felt guilty about abandoning him there to fight on his own, but Spyro had told her the next night that it was alright and he was just glad that he managed to hold out long enough to make sure Jet got to safety.
Jet looked around for Spyro and didn't see him anywhere. She sat down, disappointed that Spyro wasn't around. The bushes around her rustled and she prepared to defend herself; thankful that Spyro had taught her basic combat. Her eyes lit up as she saw a purple dragon walk out of the bushes. She immediately tackled him and they rolled on the ground a bit. Jet said, "I was worried you weren't going to come!" Spyro laughed and said, "Of course I came. I enjoy spending time with you! It's nice to talk to another dragon."
She heard Sparx's voice say, "Oh come on Spyro! Not here! You're too young to be mating!" Spyro and Jet blushed and Spyro said, "I know Sparx. I know. We aren't mating! She tackled me out of joy." Sparx snorted and said, "Likely story bro." Spyro shook his head and said, "Sorry for my obnoxious brother Jet." Jet replied, still blushing, "No worries Spyro. So. What shall we talk about this time?"
Spyro replied, "Why don't we talk about your day first? We can get to mine later." Jet asked, "Are you sure?" Spyro replied, "Of course!" Jet sat down and said, "Alright." Jet began to talk about her day, Spyro listening intently as he sat down.
After Jet had finished talking about her day, Spyro said, "Sounds like you had a blast learning how to fight from your parents. Were they shocked at what you knew already?" Jet answered, "A little at first. But my mother said I probably taught myself. So at least my adoptive parents think I am smart enough to teach myself." She laughed awkwardly as she looked away and Spyro gently made her look at him with his wing. Jet felt her heart skip a beat as she stared into Spyro's amethyst purple eyes.
Spyro said, "You are a very intelligent Dragoness, Jet. You need to believe in yourself more. You can do anything you set your mind to. You can be anything you want to be. I believe in you. And I am proud of you for making it this far practically on your own." Jet kept looking into Spyro's eyes; feeling as if she was stuck in a trance, losing herself in his eyes.
Spyro met her gaze and flashed a brilliant smile that stole her breath away. Her heart began to beat faster just feeling his breath on her face. Jet began to inch closer to his face. Spyro looked at her, curiosity clear in his eyes. Jet fought the urge to kiss him, losing the battle.
Suddenly, it began to downpour. Spyro immediately looked up and said, "Damn! We need to get you to shelter so the mud doesn't come off of you!" Jet snapped to her senses and asked, "Where is the nearest place to shelter for the night other than the Wyvern Camp?!" Spyro replied, "Follow me. I know where a nearby cave is. It should offer you decent protection from the rain."
Spyro led Jet to the cave he was talking about, Sparx right behind him, and waited for her to get inside. Jet went into the cave. Spyro immediately let loose a powerful blast of fire on the roof of the cave. Once Spyro was satisfied that he had heated the roof of the cave enough to dry Jet off quickly, he said, "I will go get firewood to make a fire to dry you off faster. Hopefully, it will heat the mud up on your body enough to cake it to your scales so you won't need to reapply mud as frequently." Jet nodded her appreciation and Spyro left with Sparx.
Jet took a deep breath to calm herself and said, "Holy crap. A-Am I falling for Spyro?!" She thought about it for a second and said, "Oh my god! I AM! W-Why?! I have only known him for a month! I-I can't believe this! Ancestors why?! He will never want me! I'm just a random Dragoness he met! I have never fought alongside him, I have not spent that much time with him, I only meet him at night, etc.! It's like I have a forbidden lover! AHHHHHHHH! THIS SUCKS!" Jet sighed sadly and said, "Damn it!"
She looked around the cave and saw several scorch marks aside from the one on the roof. She said, "This must be where Ignitus taught Spyro how to harness the element of fire." She blushed and said, "W-Why would he bring me to such a special place?! Oh my god! Is he gonna confess?! Ancestors help me! AHHHHHH!" Jet's mind was running a million miles a second, thinking of every single possibility. Noise at the entrance snapped her back to reality. She prepared to defend herself when Spyro walked into the cave carrying a large load of wood. She immediately dropped her guard.
Spyro walked into the center of the cave and dropped the wood he gathered. He swiftly made a large teepee of wood. Jet watched him in awe and Sparx said, "Close your mouth Jet, or you're gonna wind up catching flies." Jet shot him daggers and Sparx immediately hid behind Spyro and said, "Scary." Spyro shook his head and said, "Please back up Jet. It's about to get real hot in this cave."
Jet blushed dark red and backed up. Once she was a safe distance away from the center of the cave, pure white flames shot from Spyro's maw, almost immediately setting the teepee of wood ablaze. Once Spyro was satisfied he said, "There. That should dry you off. I should be going now." Jet hastily asked, "C-Can you stay the night in the cave with me? Who knows what's out there and I've always been a HEAVY Sleeper." Spyro chuckled and asked, "You sure you want a male dragon you just met about a month ago sleeping in the same place as you?" Jet answered, "I trust you, Spyro." Spyro smiled lightly and said, "Alright. Just this once."
Jet got as close to the fire as possible without burning herself and laid down to sleep. She thought, 'Do I push my luck? Hmmmm. Screw it!' Jet asked Spyro, "Can you lay next to me and cover me with your wings? I always sleep better with something covering me." Spyro blushed and said shyly, "S-Sure. Anything to make this place more comfortable for you to sleep in." Jet said, "Thank you Spyro. Sorry for being a pain." Spyro replied as he walked over, "No need to apologize. You've done nothing wrong, Jet. I am more than happy to help you sleep better. You aren't a pain nor will you ever be a pain in my eyes." Jet blushed bright red and hid her face.
Spyro used his wing to gently make Jet look at him and said, "Such a beautiful face should never be hidden from the world Jet." Jet blushed more and felt her heart skip multiple beats. Sparx did a fake gag and said, "Get a room you two!" Both Spyro and Jet blushed beet red. Spyro laid next to Jet and covered her with his wings. The two slept soundly through the night.
Back in the present:
Hunter whistled and said, "Man. Who would've known Spyro had that much Rizz at such a young age?!" Jet shook her head and said, "Fucking bite me." Hunter laughed and asked, "So. Were your adoptive parents worried that you didn't return that night?" Jet chuckled and said, "Absolutely. They feared that I got lost again or got killed by something in the night. That day's training was not fun. A lot of hard and strenuous combat training." Hunter said, "That makes sense." He nocked another arrow and loosed it, killing a deer swiftly.
Hunter said, "So. I'm assuming that the next part of the story is the night you two marked one another." Jet said, "You'd be correct to assume that. It was almost another month before that fateful night. It was actually right before Spyro had to go fight Cynder." Hunter whistled once more and said, "I am assuming when he saved Cynder, as he flew through the beam of pure dark energy is when he lost his memories of you, but he also purified Cynder so she can never be controlled again; yet as a result, got a dark fury." Jet said, "Precisely. Time for the final part of the story."
Jet's Memory:
Jet approached the river, nearly shaking in excitement. She had worked up the courage to confess her feelings to Spyro. Jet was hoping that Spyro felt the same. Even if he didn't, she needed to tell him. Jet arrived at the river and looked around. She heard something leap at her from the bushes and the two rolled on the ground. Jet kicked her assailant off of her and got to her feet swiftly, ready to fight. Jet's hostility vanished as she recognized Spyro.
She said, "Thanks for the heart attack Spy." Spyro laughed and said, "Of course! Happy to oblige!" Jet's eyes lit up with mischief and she leapt at Spyro. The two rolled on the ground and Spyro wound up on top. They looked into one another's eyes, getting lost in each other's gaze. Jet worked up the courage and used her wings to pull Spyro's face closer to hers. Both dragons' lips were mere inches from one another.
Jet felt Spyro's breath on her face and leaned up. She kissed Spyro deeply and Spyro blushed bright red, but kissed back just as deep. The two kissed for what felt like an eternity and Jet finally pulled away to take a breath.
Jet said shyly, "S-Spyro. I have something to tell you." Spyro smiled warmly and said, "Oh yeah? And what might that be?" Jet said, her heart beginning to run a marathon as she said, "I… I love you Spyro." Spyro blushed and said, "I love you too, Jet." Neither of them noticed or felt lightning strike them.
Spyro got off of Jet and offered his front leg to help her up. Jet grabbed his leg gently and felt Spyro pull her to her feet. Spyro and Jet sat down, tails entwined. Jet rested her head on Spyro's shoulder. A large shadow flew over them and Spyro looked up as he said, "I have to go fight Cynder tomorrow. Ignitus told me Cynder and I are more alike than I realize. I am curious to find out what he meant." Jet said to Spyro, "Promise me something Spyro." Spyro looked at her and said, "Anything Love." Jet said, a tear in her eye, "Promise me you won't die. I can't imagine a world without you. Please don't put me through that!" Spyro smiled and replied, "Of course. I promise. Let's head to the cave. We both need rest." Jet agreed, and the two walked towards the cave, lightning still striking them, tails entwined.
In the Present:
Jet said, "When he didn't return to meet me after that night, I feared the worst. Then I heard stories of a Purple Dragon out and about. It reignited my hope that he was still out there. I am glad my hope wasn't misplaced. I just never thought I'd meet him again!" Jet looked down as her eyes watered, "And now that I have met him again. He has changed, but not much. I know I can say, I do still love him, but he's happy with Cynder. I can't tear them apart. That'd be selfish of me!"
Hunter gently wiped her tears away and said, "You need to remember something. He marked both you and Cynder. Your mark has not faded. Yes, it needs a touch up and you and Spyro definitely need to mark one another yet again, but it's still there! Meaning he does still love you, he just doesn't remember you. And if you can get along with Cynder, maybe she'd be willing to share. Best not to tell her that you have also been marked by Spyro. At least not yet. And maybe, just maybe, eventually, you and Cynder will mark one another, thus completing the love triangle. Dragons mate for life. Even if their mate has died, most dragons refuse to take another mate." Jet looked at Hunter and sniffled as she said, "I hope you're right." Hunter said, "Maybe your mark on him has also faded to a point where it can't be smelled. That's a possibility. It could cause some issues if it has faded like his on you. Maybe I will ask Gloria to confirm this. If that's alright." Jet asked, "Is she able to keep this a secret until the time's right?" Hunter nodded his head and said, "Neither of us have told anyone what the other scent coming from you is." Jet said, "Then, yes. You can ask her to confirm it."
Hunter asked, "Are you able to hear his thoughts?" Jet shook her head no and said, "But I think he can still hear mine, just very faintly or he can't hear everything. Let me try again. Maybe jog his memory." Jet reached out towards Spyro's mind and connected. She thought to him, 'Spyro. Try to remember the River! Try to remember the meetings! Please!'
Back with the rest of the group:
Cynder had finally unpinned Spyro. Spyro got to his feet when he heard someone's thoughts, 'Spyro. River! Meetings! Please!' Spyro shook his head and muttered, "It wasn't just an illusion the first time! I heard it again! Whose thoughts are these?! And why are they cryptic messages? Spyro. River! Meetings! Please! The fuck's that supposed to mean?! Ignitus, are you trying to tell me something?!" Spyro looked up towards the sky and sighed.
Back with Hunter and Jet:
Hunter asked, "Shall we finish hunting?" Jet nodded and took a deep breath, bringing her emotions under control. Jet regained control over her emotions and said, "Let's hunt a bit more and then bring it back to the camp. I am sure everyone is famished. Especially Spyro. He did have a Volcano collapse on him after all!" Hunter laughed and said, "Indeed. He did." The pair finished hunting and brought the haul back to camp.
So. I reread the beginning because I had a feeling I fucked it up and guess what? I fucked up in the beginning yet again. Spyro and Cynder are 15 in Dawn of The Dragon, not 13. I will be fixing it. Do not fret. Tell me how you felt about this chapter.
