CHAPTER 6: The sports festival (Part 1)
My Hero Academia world, Musutafu, Japan [11:24]
During the weekwnd, walking down one of the streets of Musutafu's commercial district we found the homeroom teacher of class 1-A, Aizawa Shota. He was accompanied by our captain Monkey D. Luffy.
"Where are we going?" Asked Luffy
"For the third time, we are going to the grocery store" Said Aizawa.
"But we went two days ago too, why we have to go again? It's boring"
"That's because, yesterday, you ate almost everything we had when we left you alone for a couple of hours"
"Ah! That's right, I forgot. Shishishi"
"You know, I'm starting to empathize with your crew, especially with your cook. Feeding you five times a day is a real challenge. And very expensive"
"Don't worry. I'll pay you back when I find the One Piece and become the King of the Pirates" He said with confidence
"If you say so, then you'd better keep your promise"
"Of course I will"
At that moment, they heard someone calling Aizawa's alias.
"Eraserhead, it's that you?" When they turned to see who it was, they saw a pro-hero, probably on patrol, with blue costume and a wood mask walking towards them "It's been a while, isn't it?"
"Hello Nishiya" Aizawa replied with his usual monotone voice
"I see you are as cheerful as ever" He said with his arms crossed before noticing Luffy next to him "And what we have here? Hizashi and you adopted a kid?"
"No, this is the son of a relative. He is staying with us while he attends UA" He explained noticing how Luffy was looking at the costume of the pro-hero with curiosity.
"Oh! Is he in the hero course?"
"Yes, he is in my class this year. He got the first place in the entrance exams"
"Really? Well, that's impressive"
At that moment, Luffy, who has been quite until now, decided to interrupt their conversation "Hey, weird guy!"
The hero pointed at himself "Are you calling me?" Weird guy?
"Yes, can I ask you something?"
"Sure"
"How do you poop in that bodysuit?"
Aizawa didn't let the other answer and simply hit Luffy's head.
"Ouch! Why did you do that?"
"Because you can't ask things like that to other people. Much less strangers"
"Huh? But he told me I can ask him a question, and he is not a stranger, you know him" He said with a pout on his face
Aizawa sighed loudly remembering that it's useless trying to reason with someone like him "Sorry, he has no filter when he speaks"
Fortunately, the hero was more amused than offended "Don't worry, I found it funny" He said before addressing the boy directly "What's your name, boy?"
"I'm Monkey D. Luffy. Nice to meet you!" He answered him with a big smile "And who are you?"
"Luffy, he is Nishiya Shinji alias Kamui Woods, the No.7 pro-hero"
"That's right, and nice to meet you too, Luffy" Replied Kamui Woods "Fortunately, you didn't inherit Aizawa's gloomy personality. He is sometimes a little scary, isn't he?"
"Nah, but the first time I saw Eye-bags I almost punched him because I thought he was a zombie. Shishishi"
Aizawa let out a growl, not liking the comparison, while Kamui couldn't help but chuckle at the boy's antics "Aizawa said you are a U.A. student, right? Then that means you will participate in the Sports Festival"
"Yep! And I'm gonna win"
"You are pretty confident, aren't you?" The boy only nodded with enthusiasm "Then I wish you luck. I'll go to U.A. too to watch the event with some collegues"
"That's great! So you can see me win!"
The pro-hero liked the boy's personality, so he didn't mind stopping his patrol to chat with him for a moment.
However, their conversation was interrupted when they heard, in the distance, several police sirens. They were getting louder and louder, indicating that they were getting closer to where they were.
"What's going on?" Asked the pro-hero confussed
He didn't understand what was happening until, at the beginning of the street, he saw two vehicles driving towards them at excessive high speed. The reckless drivers were also persecuted by the police, so he assumed they were villains trying to scape.
It was then when, without any warning, Luffy started to run in the cars' direction.
Screams were heard as the people tried not to get run over by the cars. Fortunately, all of them managed to move away on time except for an elderly woman, who, along with his two grandkids, were paralyzed in the middle of a crosswalk. When they could finally react, it was too late as the cars were already in front of them; desperate, the old lady hug the children, hoping his body can protect them from the impact.
But thanfully, that never happened.
The seconds were passing and the woman didn't feel anything so she adventured to open her eyes, only to find herself and the kids already in the paviment, with some people around them, and a strange boy with a straw-hat holding her by the shoulders.
"Hey, ganny are you okay?" He said
"Y-Yes, but what happened"
"Those idiots were going to crush all of you but I took you out of their way" He said pointing to two vehicles trapped in the branches of Kamui Woods.
"Y-you?" Asked her still with a trembling voice. He only replied with a nod and a smile.
And that was all she need to know before she started to thank him effusively over and over again, with a couple of happy tears running down her cheeks.
The kids, to also show their gratitude, tried to hug him although they barely reached Luffy's waist.
It was then when Aizawa and Kamui arrived "Are you all okay?"
"Yes! Yes, of course. And all thanks to this young boy right here" Anwered the woman "What is your name?"
"I'm Luffy, Monkey D. Luffy" He replied
Luffy then felt a small hand tug on his. It was the little girl he just saved, trying to get his attention.
"Mr. Luffy, are you also a hero?" The little girl asked. She has recognized Kamui Woods and thought that maybe their rescuer was his sidekick or somenthing like that.
"Nop. I'm something even better"
"Really? Better than a hero?" Questioned this time the girl's younger brother. Luffy nodded again "Then, what are you?"
Luffy bent down and whispered "I'll tell you, but it's a secret, okay?" The other two nodded enthusiastically "I am a pirate" He told them with a big smile
"A pirate?!" Exclaimed both kids at the same time "But pirates are evil" Said the little boy
"And who told you that? Being a pirate is the best. You can do whatever you want and live tons of adventures with your crew while you cross the seas"
"Adventures? What kind of adventures?"
"Well, once I even went to a sky island" He said surprising both kids "You see, we were in the middle of the ocean when..."
While Luffy was entertaining the children with his 'fictional' stories. Kamui went to Aizawa's side.
"He seems to get along well with kids"
"He has the same mental age as them. It's not surprising they can understand each other"
"Hmm... I see that not even your family is safe from your sharp tongue"
"I don't get carried away by that nonsense" He simply replied
"I know, but you have to admit his insticts were pretty impressive, with his help we avoided a tragedy"
"You could've saved them anyway"
"Yes, but he made things easier"
"That's true" Conceded Aizawa as he looked around. They attracted decent amount of people, it would be better if they go now. He didn't want more attention on the boy before the Sport's Festival "Hey, Luffy! We have to go"
"Now? But I just made some friends" He said while the two kids were playing with his rubber face
"It's getting late and we still have to buy the food for the next week. Now, get up"
The old lady also intervened "We have to go too. Come on kids, your mother is already waiting for us at home" The children were about to protest, just like Luffy, but their grandmother didn't give them opportunity to talk "No, no, no. The heroes have other things to do too, so don't protest and say goodbye to Mr Monkey"
"Aaahh... Okay" The kids agreed reluctanly "Bye-bye, Mr Pirate!"
"Goodbye, Mr Monkey, and thank you again"
"No problem, and call me Luffy" The old woman simply nod with a light smile on her face before resuming her way with her grandchildren.
For his part, one of Kamui Woods' sidekicks was also calling him. He needed to inform the police about the incident and then go back to patrol.
"I suppose I also need to get back to work" Commented Nishiya before looking at our captain "It was good to meet you Luffy and thank you for the help. I hope we meet each other again in U.A.; I usually go to see your seniors but this year I'm curious about you, so you better stand out"
"Yes!" The boy answered with his typical smile.
Once they bid their goodbyes, they took separated ways. Aizawa and Luffy were finally able to make their purchases, although they recieved a reprimand from Hizashi for arriving so late.
Some hours later, in the backyard of the house, the three of them were seated in the grass eating some watermelon. After some minutes of silence enjoying the evening breeze, Hizashi decided to start a new conversation.
"So, Luffy. Shota told me you met Kamui Woods this morning. Did you like him?"
Our captain, with his mouth full, only tilted his head "Wrhg?" (Who)
"Don't speak with food on your mouth!" Hizashi said hitting his head "And I said Kamui Woods, the guy that you helped with the accident"
"Ah! You mean that tree guy. I don't know, he was nice. I guess" He commented with a shrug "Why?"
"Because he could be a very good option for your first internship"
"And what is an infernship?"
Again? "It's internship, Luffy, and we have already explained it to you. It's when students like you enter in an already stablished hero agency to learn from professional heroes. If you impress them at the Sports Festival, I am sure you will get a lot of requests"
"Okay" It was the only thing he said but frankly, he didn't care about that inter-thing or whatever, what he needed now was some action I am bored. I haven't fight in a while Then he got an idea "Hey! Why don't you train with me?" He asked his guardians.
The other two simply looked at him like he just grew another head. "Train with you? The guy who defeated the monster created to kill All-Might? No, thank you. I don't want to broke my bones again so soon" Said Aizawa. He already had his share of fights for a while.
"Oh! Come on, I won't go beyond my Base Gear"
"Luffy, even in your Base Gear you are still a danger"
"You are not fun!" He said crossing his arms "I wish I could fight that brain-head again, or maybe a couple of them"
"Well, I hope you do not encounter another Nomu. And if you do, you must remember what we have talked about. After your fight in USJ you have to control your powers, at least for now"
"But why? I still don't understand"
"Because for the rest of the world you are still a student, Luffy. And a student, no matter how talented or how much he has trained, doesn't have the power, strenght or experience in combat that you have in his first year. Do you understand that right?" The boy nooded "So for now, at least until you have passed your first or second intership, it'd be better to hide your other gears. Because if you don't, more people are going to ask more questions and they, especially our goverment, won't doubt to to investigate you if our answers can't satisfy them. The documentation and excuses Nezu made for you have its limits, so they will eventually find out that you are not from this world"
Aizawa agreed "Besides, if villains knew of the existence of other dimensions you'll automatically become their main target not only in Japan, but in other countries too. Even more if word is spread about Devil Fruits"
"But I am strong. I'm a Yonkou"
"And we know that, kid. But you can't live fighting every single minute" Argued Hizashi
Luffy pouted "Hmmm. I understand but... that means you won't train with me?" He said, drastically changing the topic of their conversation. The pro-heros could only roll their eyes at his stubbornness "Pleeeaaase... and I will teach you how to use haki"
And that's the moment our captain caught their attention.
"You mean that we can also learn Haki?"
"Maybe"
"I thought it was somenthing that only people of your world have access to, like our Quirks"
Luffy thought for a moment "Well, I don't know if you can use it like I do, but I think you can awaken it. That's the easiest part"
"And what is the difference between awakening Haki and master it" Questioned Aizawa. Honestly, He was really interested. Only with the armament haki I would be able to increase my durability in combat.
"Hmmm... Rayleigh said that when you have awaken it, you uses it without knowing or when you are in danger; and when you control it you can use it whenever you want"
"And you think we have oportunity to master it"
"I don't know" Luffy said "That depends how strong your will is"
"So the stronger your will the strongest your haki will be" The other nodded "Fascinating"
"I'm in" Aizawa suddenly said "Once I am completely healed, of course. But it will be pretty handy for me if I can learn even one type"
"Yahooo! Finally some action!" Exclaimed Luffy
Then, both of them looked at Hizashi at the same time, Luffy with pleading eyes and his parter with insistent ones. The pro-hero saw no other way out but to also accept the boy's request. "Okay, I'll train with you too"
"Great! You are the best" He said to then give them a big hug. Aizawa was already getting used to the boy's sudden displays of affection so he wasn't as bothered as before "Then I'll go for a blindfold and a bat" He told them before running inside the house, leaving Aizawa and Hizashi in the grass with cold sweat running down his front.
"Blindfold...?"
"Bat...?"
What did they get themselves into?
My Hero Academia world, U.A. Academy [15:32]
It was the end of another day for class 1-A; they were already preapared to go home when their door was suddenly opened and, at the other side of it, they saw a big crowd of students. They didn't know what to make of this.
"What's going on, guys?" Asked a nervous Uraraka
"What bussiness do you have with our class?"
"Hey, we can't get out. Move" Said this time Mineta
Bakugo, on the other hand, was strangely calm "It's obvious. They are scouting their enemies. They probably want to check us out for the Sport's Festival. We are the ones who survived a villain attack after all and we are the strongest here" He said as he approached the exit "And now that you have take a look at us, get out of my way, extras!"
"Bakugo, don't call them that!"
"You don't tell me what to do, shitty glasses!"
"BAKUGO!"
"Wow, I didn't know class 1-A was so arrogant" Comented a new voice. All of the presents turned their heads towards the new arrival "Are all the students in the hero course like you? If it's like that, I'm really dissapointed" The stranger was a student with purple hair and eyes. He came to the front, facing Katsuki without fear.
"What the hell are you saying?!" Exploded Bakugo as usual
"Hey, relax. I am not your enemy; well, technically not yet" He said looking directly at his eyes "You know there are quite a few people here who enrolled in general studies or other courses because they didn't meet the requirements to enter your class. But, did you know that depending our results in the festival the school will consider our transfer to the hero course? So that also means that... they may tranfer people out too" As his speech progressed he was also eyeing the rest of the class. He saw them nervous. Good. He thought, but before he could continue another voice was heard behind Bakugo.
"Yawn... Man, I had a good sleep, but now I'm hungry. Huh? Guys, why are you not moving" It was the voice of Luffy who, to anyone's surprise, was just waking up from a nap. He was now looking confused at his classmates until he saw the crowd out of their class "WOW! There are alot of people. Is this a party?!"
"Of course this is not a party, dumbass!" Yelled Bakugo
"Huh? And why are they here?" Luffy asked when he noticed the purple-haired guy in front of Bakugo "And, who are you?"
"My name is Shitoshi Shinso and I'm here to..." But he was interrupted again
"Oh! My name is Monkey D. Luffy and I'm the captain"
Captain? "So you are the leader of this class?" The other nodded "Then I want to tell you somenthing, can I?"
"Of course. What's the matter?" He answered with his usual carefree personality
A little smile appeared in Shinso's face "I came here to say that I don't care if you are in the hero course, you better not get carried away. Not only me, but all of us will give our everything to take your place in this class, so don't underestimate us, because if you do we will not doubt to tear you apart. This is a declaration of war against class 1-A"
This person is too bold Everyone thought, already feeling a little uneasy
However, Luffy was simply excited for the new challenge "So, you want to be a hero, right?"
Shinso, taken aback by the other's response, only nodded "Then good luck, I hope you make it" He said with a big smile on his face
Okay, that definetly surprised him. He expected some sort of superiority statement or at least, some bad looks directed at him, not this "Are you... are you really okay with me trying to kick out one of your classmates?"
"What are you saying? Of course not, I want them to stay but you want to be a hero too; I can't be angry with you just because you are following your dream. It doesn't make sense, so try your best I can't wait to fight you. Shishisi" It would be an understantement to say that everyone was stunned at Luffy's reasoning.
This also caused that the fuss, previously created by Bakugo's comments, was slowly subsiding and the opinion that others had about the hero course lightly changed.
For his part, Shinso didn't know what to think; that boy didn't look like he was mocking him but he was also having a difficult time believing that he was sincere. All his life he was judged as a potencial criminal rather than a hero due to the misconceptions people always have about him and his Quirk. Huh? Then he reminded an important fact... they didn't knew what his Quirk was yet. He will change his opinion as soon as I show it in the Sports Festival. At this reminder he clenched his fist tightly and remained silent, not knowing what to say next.
Now, on the filp side, we had class 1-A looking with admiration at their class rep.
As expected of the 'captain'. He knew how to handle the situation perfectly. Thought Iida, who, inspired by Luffy's speech, also steped foward to stand next to him. "My name is Tenya Iida, the deputy class rep. and like our captain said I wish you good luck as well. I also hope our relationship with the other courses will improve during and after the competition" He finished saying with a little bow.
This was followed by the other students of class 1-A.
"Yes. Let's give a good fight!" Said Kirishima
"Oui, mes amis. The world won't prepared to see how much we shine"
"I look foward to compete against you" Commented this time Momo
"Hi, I'm Mina. Let's be friends, okay?"
"Shishishi, well said guys!" Exclaimed Luffy happily seeing the attitude of his friends "Now, let's go home. Eye-bags and Blondie will get mad at me if I'm late again"
"Yes, captain!" Everyone said, and like little ducklings, the whole class, including Bakugo, followed Luffy as he walked through the door. Likewise, the people that have been blocking the exit was now making a corridor to let the captain and his 'crew'pass.
Five days later
It was the day of the Sports Festival in U.A. Academy and, like every year, there were plenty of people inside the facilities either seated in the stadium bleachers or at the food stalls located at the entrace of the school.
And out of all of them, our focus will be in a certain po-hero team conformed by Mt Lady, Kamui Woods and Death Arms. The former was happily eating some recently 'adquired' takoyaki while the last two couldn't help but to look at her with disapproving eyes.
"Aren't you ashamed? You just tricked that poor guy to give you the food for free" Said Kamui Woods
"What are you talking about?! He just did it because he admires me as the awesome heroine that I am"
"Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason" He replied sarcastically
Death Arms remained quite until he saw a known figure not very far from them "Hey, isn't that Mirko?"
A few meters away, and going in the opposite direction as them, we found the Rabbit-Hero, and numbre 5 pro-hero, walking towards the entry of the third-year stage until she saw our trio of heroes.
"Oi guys" She said greeting them
"Hello Mirko, good to see you"
"Hi Mirko-san, how are you?"
"Great. I came to watch the fights of the third-year students. Will you come too?"
"No, we are going to watch the first-year students this time. Kamui was very persistent about it, I don't know why"
"First year, eh? Well, it's okay, we can have some beers after this. What do you say? It's been a while since I saw you"
"You know, we could see each other more frequently if you accepted team missions from time to time" Replied Kamui Woods crossing his arms
"Aaahh... Again with that? You know that I work better alone"
"Yeah, yeah. We know you are pretty independient and all that stuff, but you know, working with more people is also fun" Commented Mt Lady
She only says that because she always leaves all the paperwork to us. Kamui Woods thought a little annoyed. He was going to say something about that when, from the corner of his eye, he saw a boy with a straw-hat running full-speed towards them. Is that...?
"Nah, it's not for me. I don't need anyb-...aaahh!" Mirko was interrupted when a something, or better said, someone, crashed into her, making her fall forward.
"Ouch! Huh? What happened?" Said the boy confused
"Oh my God, Mirko-san are you okay?"
"Yes. But I would be better if someone wasn't on top of me!" She said a little bit angry "Hey, you! Get out of me!"
"Oh! Sorry, but you stood on my way. You have to be more careful" He said getting up from the floor.
"Huh?! But it was you who bumped into me!"
"That's because you didn't move away, dummy" The other simply replied, picking his ear, until he smelled something delicious near him "Great! Takoyaki, I'm hungry!" He said as he took the last three from Mt Lady's plate.
"Hey, that was mine!"
"Suorbhy" (Sorry)
"You, brat! What did you think you are doing?" Said Mirko, a vein already popping out of his front "Do you think you can go around disrespecting other people like that?! Especially heroes?"
"I already said sorry"
"But you also said it was my fault we fell and it's not true!"
"Of course it was. If you see people running towards you, you have to move!"
"But I didn't see you!"
"And that's other problem, you were too distracted!" He said his voice rising along with hers until he saw something on her head that completely captured his attention "WOW! Are those ears real? Are you carrot's cousin? You look like her, but why you have red eyes and white hair without full moon? Can you also use that electricity thing?" He said forgetting for an instant he was not in his world.
At this point, Mirko's patience was running out really quickly. She didn't know what the boy was talking about and, honestly, she didn't care; right now she only wanted to give him a kick on the face, and Mt. Lady, who was still outraged about her takoyaki, was having similar thoughts.
Kamui, seeing the situation decided to intervene "Hey, let's calm down, shall we?" He said to the women before turning to our captain "Luffy, it's good to see you but why are you here? You should be in the waiting room with your classmates"
"Oh! It's you, Tree guy. I was just looking for my friend, he is lost"
"Kamui, do you know that thief?" Said Mt Lady with a tint of anger in her voice.
"Yes, he is Eraserhead's cousin"
"Hi, I'm Monkey D. Luffy. Nice to meet you"
"Likewise Luffy" Replied Death Arms, the only person apart from Kamui who wasn't mad at the boy.
"I met him the other day, and he is also a first-year student in U.A."
"First year?" Whispered Mirko to herself, raising her eyebrow "Tell me boy, in what class are you in?" She said addressing Luffy directly
"1-A, why?" He answered with what she thought was arrogance. And the heroine didn't like it.
"Hmmm" After his response, she locked eyes with him, trying to intimidate the stupid boy with her characteristic red orbs. That always have worked, especially with arrogant civilians like him and even some snob pro-heroes. But what was her surprise when he, not only didn't avoid her gaze, but also returned it with the same, almost more, intensity and dominance as her. 'Eyes are the windows to the soul' Well, if that is true, his soul is really strong. Interesting.
Unfortunately, the moment was interrupted when a green-haired boy approached the group. He looked very tired. "Luffy-san, where were you? I was looking for you. We mu-..." He interrupted himself when he looked up and saw the people next to Luffy. He almost let out a squeak.
"Hey, little bush. I was also looking for you, you get lost very easily. Shishishi"
Izuku then came back to reality, and remembered himself why he was there; he had to take Luffy inside quickly. With all his might he tried to suppress his inner fanboy "Captain, we must go with our class now. The first round is going to start very soon, we can't be late"
Captain? The others thought
"Oh! It's true. We must go" He then turned towards the pro-heroes "Bye guys, I'll see you later" Luffy said before he dragged the poor boy with him as he started to run at full-speed again.
"Luffy-san wait, waaaaiiit..." Izuku said to only being ignored by his friend. He's gonna kill me someday
Meanwhile, the pro-heroes were left there with the sensation that a hurricane has just passed beside them.
"He seems to have a lot of energy. I kind of like him" Commented Death Arms
"Hmph! I don't, I'm not going forgive that takoyaki thief"
"Come on, don't be angry, you didn't even spent money. You got them for free"
"That's not the point" She said still 'angry'
While those two were arguing, Mirko approached the No 7 pro-hero "Is he the reason why you are not going to watch the third year's fight, Kamui?" She asked with a smirk
"Maybe" He simply replied
"Hmmm. Well, maybe I'll go with you. He also caught my attention"
The other only gave her a quick glance before starting to walk towards the entry of the first-year stage. "Do what you want"
Waiting room of class 1-A.
"Where are they?" Said Iida as he nervously walked around the room
"I don't know, but knowing Luffy, he must be lost and Midoriya is trying to find him" Commented Mina
"I wouldn't be surprised-kero"
"I can go to find them" Asked Uraraka
"No, if more of us go out it could be worse. There's little time left so we can only wait for them" Said Iida
And this decision proved to be the right one when two minutes after, the door was slammed to the wall.
"We are here!" Exclaimed Luffy still gabbing a very pale Izuku by the arm.
"Deku-kun, are you okay?"
"I-I... don't k-know" He said, he was feelling a little dizzy and it didn't help that Luffy smacked his back making him almost fall. He will definitely kill me one day.
"Come on, don't be a crybaby. We made it in time, right?"
Izuku just searched for a chair to rest a little "Yes, thankfully you stayed in one place long enough for me to fin-..." And like the dizinees from before never existed, he jumped abruptly from his seat, startling some of his classmates, and went to Luffy's side again "Luffy-san, when I found yu you were talking with the No 5 hero, Mirko, and the No 7 hero, Kamui Woods, how do you know them?" His inner fanboy couldn't be contained anymore, and his classmates were not far behind.
"Seriously? How cool!"
"Wow Luffy, you are really lucky"
"Hey, can you introduce them to us?"
"And it's not only that, Death Arms and Mt Lady were also next to him. They were so amazing! Their costumes looked even cooler up close" Izuku at this moment was exuding admiration from every pore.
"Mt Lady?! You were next Mt Lady, you barstad?!" Yelled Mineta "Life is not fair!" He felt betrayed.
However, before he could answer their questions, someone opened the door. It was Midnight "Let's go kids, the first round is going to start in a couple of minutes"
"Yes, finally! Come on guys!" Luffy said before he started to run towards the exit.
"Captain, we have to go together! Captain!" Iida tried to call him again but to no avail, he was already gone. "Aaaahh... He never changes"
At the Stadium
The place was at his full capacity, without any seat left and with a very excited audience. All of them were really curious how will perform the students that were attacked by the league of villains. The uper-part, the one destined to the pro-heroes, was also packed.
At that moment, the people stopped talking when all the screens showed the image of President Mic, the commentarist of today's event.
"Hello, everybody! This is U.A. Sports Festival and it's time for the students to enter the firs-year stage! Are you ready?!" The audience exploded in cheers and applauses "That's what I wanted to hear! Now, all of you know the first group, who doesn't know them, they are the stars that shrugged off a mass villain assault with wills of steel. That's right, it's class 1-A!"
Once he made their presentation the students of said class entered the battle ground. A lot of them, were really anxious to be in front of such a large crowd while others like Luffy, were really enjoying the moment.
"Thank you! Shishishi" He said giving the enthusiastic spectators his biggest smile.
"It looks like Luffy-san is having fun with this" Commented Izuku trying to contain his nervousness. He was shy by nature, so being in this situation was really challenging for him.
"As expected of the captain! He has total control of his emotions. We must learn from him"
"Man, President Mic went overboard with so much praise. I'm getting nervous! And you, Bakugo?" Asked Kirishima
"Me? Nervous? No, this is only motivating me more to rise to the top" He said with a sinister smile on his face.
After the rest of the courses were also presented, they all gathered in front of Midnight, the teacher who will be the chief umpire in this event.
"Now, silence! It's time for the student pledge" She said waving her whip "And this year's representative will be... Monkey D. Luffy!"
"What?!"
"Luffy-san?"
"Seriously? Him?"
"Huh? I have to do something" He asked confused
"You ended up first in the entrance exams so you have to give a speech" Answered Momo
"Me?"
"Yes, now go! They are waiting for you" Mina said hurrying him
He just obeyed and when he reached the top of the plataform, he took the microphone and said "My friends said that I have to give a speech or something like that but they didn't tell me what to say, so I'm going to improvise" That make the crowd laugh. But, on the flip side...
Oh no. It was what everybody who knew him was thinking. Even the teachers were already sinking in their seats.
Oblivious to all of this, Luffy turned towards his classmates and the other students "Everyone, I don't know a lot you but let's have fun today. I can't wait to fight with all of you, so give your everything because I won't hold back either!" The crowd cheered even louder after the boy's words, and the students who were giving bad looks to class 1-A, relaxed a bit, some of them even smiled.
Others simply let out a sigh of relief. At the end, it wasn't as bad as they expected.
"I'm hoping that what he just said was just an expression"
"I'm sure it is, Shota" Said this time Hizashi as he covered his microphone with his hand "There is anybody here who can push Luffy to his fourth or fifth gear. I'm even doubting he will go beyond the second one"
"We'll see"
"Okay, everyone" Intervened Midnight, drawing the attention to her again "Let's get started right away, okay? As always, the Sports Festival will have three games" Then a screen appeared behind her " And the first will be... an obstacle race!"
Obstacle race?
"Yes, that's right, and all classes will participate. The course of the race will be the outer circumference of this building, which is about four kilometers! And as long as you follow the route we've indicated, you are allowed to do whatever you want! Understood?"
I have to pass to the next round, whatever it takes. Thought Izuku
"Now, take your places everyone"
And as they were told, the students went to where it was placed the starting line. Above them, three lights were taking the role of countdown. Then, one light went off, the tension rised and the contestans started to get in position. A couple of seconds later, another light dissapeared, and they, unconsciously, got closer and closer to each other, making already difficult to move. Finally, the last light also went off and the voice of Midnight was heard yelling "Start!"
The race began and, like a stampede, the students rushed towards the narrow corridor hoping they could get some advantage over the others. Unfortunately, due to the little space available between those two walls, the contestans were getting stuck. They were starting to push each other as they tried to get out of there as fast as they could.
Some of them, were already outside; nonetheless, from behind, a sudden wave of ice, reached them leaving, not only them but also a lot of students that hadn't came out of the corridor, immobile with his feet frozen to the floor. The cause of all this was clearly Todoroki.
He was now on the lead, his plan had worked but more people than he had originally expected were able to avoid his attack. However, he was pleased when he didn't see Luffy behind him, although that didn't last long.
"Gomu Gomu no... ROCKET!" They heard someone yell and then, magically, Luffy landed beside Bakugo "Oh! Hey there! That ice-thing was incredible, right? It remind me to an admiral I fought some time ago"
"I don't care about that, dumbass! Now get out of my way!"
Damn it. Todoroki thought. For him, this was a setback. Luffy was really powerful, and he knows that if he couldn't take him out at the begnning, later will be much more difficult.
He was so absorbed in his thoughts that didn't realize that the next obstacle was right before him. He only stopped when a large shadow covered him completely.
What?
When he looked up he saw seven 0 pointers from the entrance exam waiting to attack.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first barrier of this obstacle race...Robo Inferno!" Announced President Mic to the public.
"W-Wait, are not those the robots from the practical exam?"
"What the hell?!"
Everyone was startled for a few seconds until they saw a boy with a straw-hat running towards the machines without hesitation. Is he crazy? Everyone, who was not part of class 1-A, thought.
"Yosh! I can finally punch a couple of those things, great!" He said as if he just receive a gift.
When he finally passed Todoroki he jumped really high, almost surpassing the robots height, and put his thumb in his mouth "Gear Third!"
He injected air in his hand and once it was big enough he covered it with Armament Haki "Gomu Gomu no... ELEPHANT GUN!" He yelled destroying not one, but two 0 pointers with a single punch "Shishishi, that was easy. Bye guys, I'll see you at the finish line" He said as he resume his way.
"Do you think I'll let you win, rubber-idiot?! TAKE THIS!" Bakugo threw several powerful explosions towards the robot he had in front of him, making it fall backwards. Todoroki was not far behind him either, cutting out the head of one of the 0 pointers with his ice.
"Incredible! We have now Monkey D. Luffy leading the race followed very closely by Bakugo and Todoroki. What an outstanding start! As expected of class 1-A, they are really forces to be reckon with, don't you think so Eraserhead?"
"Indeed, their attacks were really fast and effective allowing them to pass through the first obstacle without much trouble. However, it was Todoroki's, and everyone's, hesitation when they first encountered the robots what allowed Luffy to take the lead. He doesn't think twice to jump into danger so the others have to step up their game if they want to keep up with him"
"A really insightful comment, Eraserhead. But coming back to the game, we are now seeing how most of the students are managing to go through Robo Inferno very easily! It seems that the first barrier was a piece of cake for them, but let's see how they react to the second one... The Fall!"
Luffy was the first to arrive to the second obstacle, a huge pit with mini-islands that are only connected to each other by a rope. Nonetheless, this didn't stop him; putting a little of haki in his legs, like in the entrance exam, he started to jump from one to another imitating Bellamy's Devil Fruit power.
He was really calm until he sensed two presences approaching him rapidly.
When he looked back, he saw how Bakugo and Todoroki were starting to catch up "Took you long enough guys. I was starting to get bored. Shishisi"
"Shut up!" Yelled Bakugo. Then, he proceed to throw towards Luffy one explosion after another but without success, the rubber boy was dodging them very easily, what irritated Bakugo even more "Stay still, idiot!"
"Don't wanna! I want to win too dummy" He was going to reply something more when Todoroki start attacking him as well "Hey! You too, Candy Cane? I thought we were friends"
"This is a competition, I am not here to make friends"
After little to no complication, they all reached successfully the other side despite their attempts to destabilize each other. However, at the end Todoroki managed to delay the other two when he froze the floor where they landed. Luffy and Katsuki were so focused in bickering one another that they didn't noticed it until they slipped and fell.
"Wait, what was that?"
"What the hell?!"
That will only slow them down for some seconds. I need to hurry. He thought.
"Although Bakugo and Luffy seem to have fallen behind, they are still a step ahead, below them, everyone's clumped together! They haven't announced how many people will make it through, so they can't allow themselves to relax!" Commented President Mic. At that moment, Todoroki arrived to the next and last obstacle "And now, dear audience, it seems that Todoroki is the first to arrive at the last barrier ... a minefield!"
Shit. I can't use my ice without giving the others a path. Todoroki was trying to come up with other plan when, in the blink of an eye, someone run past him.
"Only if you look carefully you'll know where the mines are but if the contestants do that they lose a lot of time! What kind of solution will they-... No, wait a moment! This is incredible... Monkey D. Luffy, ladies and gentleman, is crossing the minefield running at full-speed without activating any mine! How is this posible?!"
Hmmm. Seeing him using his haki makes me want to learn it as fast as possible. Aizawa thought, hoping he could get rid of his bandages very soon.
Meanwhile, our captain was simply having fun "Yosh! This is easy with haki. Shishishi" He said, his smile never falling of his face.
What? He is not stepping in any of them? "Then, I have no option, I have to-..." But before Todoroki could do anything, he was hit by a blast, making him fall backwards
"Did you think I would let it pass, Icy Hot?! HA! See you in the finish line, loser!" Bakugo mocked him before starting to cross the field with his explosions "NOW, I'M COMING FOR YOU, RUBBER HEAD"
Todoroki recovered quickly from the previous attack "Crap. I'll give those in the back a path, but I can't worry for that now" He had no other option but to use his ice powers if he wanted to win.
"What a turn of events! Bakugo has just passed Todoroki, taking now the second place. This is exciting, isn't it?!" The people in the audience answered with an noisy ovation.
Coming back to lead pack, Luffy was still first but with the other two almost on his heels again. Now, someone could ask, why is he not using his second gear from the beginning? He will finish faster that way, right? Well, the case is that, believe it or not, Luffy is following Aizawa and Hizashi's instructions, at least for now. Basically, he won't use his other techniques until it was completely necesary; besides, for him it was more entertaining this way. He wanted some competition although that meant he had to restrain himself.
The three of them were near the other side when...
*BOOM!*
A giant explosion was detonated at the beginning of the minefield and from it, Midoriya Izuku came out flying above the other students. He was grabbing a piece of metal that took from the pointers to mantain his balance in the middle of the air. However, he didn't plan how to land, so he kept falling thinking frantically in a solution.
He was between Bakugo and Todoroki, two meters away from the floor, when an idea came to his mind, a very suicidal one, but he hadn't time to think in another one.
He put his feet on his backs and taking advantage, again, of the mines, he slammed his piece of metal to the ground creating another explosion that propelled him forward, reaching the person in the first position. Now, he was running neck to neck with Luffy.
"Little bush! That was awesome!"
"SHITTY DEKU, DON'T YOU DARE TO BE AHEAD OF ME!"
Shit, another one.
"I can't believe my eyes, Midoriya Izuku has just fall from the sky and now we have four people on the lead! This is true madness, Class 1-A is really on another level!"
Three of them now could see the narrow corridor from the start of the race, meaning that this last sprint will decide the winner of the first game.
"Apart from my way extras!" Yelled Bakugo using even more power in his blasts
For his part, Todoroki was pushing his ice power to the limit, as well as Izuku who was using every muscle of his body to keep his current position.
The only one who seemed to be calm was Luffy. He looked at his rivals confused until he realized that they had arrived to the final part of the race "Well, I think I can use it now" He said with his biggest smile
The other three didn't know what he meant until he rised his arm to the side.
No, no, no, no.
Not this!
"Don't you dare!"
Luffy only gave them a side glance and a smirk before he made his move "...Gear Second"
The people in the stadium was now watching in amazement how the straw-hat boy was exuding steam from his body and his skin turned pink.
"What is he doing?"
"Did he just turned pink?"
"What kind of Quirk is that?"
The next thing everyone saw was the straw-hat boy disappearing from their sight to only reappear two seconds later in the finish line and with his smile still intact.
"AND WE HAVE A WINNER...MONKEY D. LUFFY! He managed to steal the first place from his competitors with an outstanding demostration of speed, this kid is full of surprises. Don't you agree, dear audience?"
The crowd went crazy cheering for our capain, and Luffy couldn't help but love all the attention he was receiving.
"That kid was incredible!"
"Indeed, he even beated the son of Endeavor, he has talent for sure"
"And his Quirk was also really interesting"
"Yes, I'm sure all the hero agencies will be fighting over him"
Meanwhile, in the uper part of the stadium, the No 5 and 7 por-heroes were watching the outcome of the race with wide eyes.
"Well, I didn't expect that" Said Kamui
"Me either" So my instict wasn't wrong, eh? Although it's too early to decide anything, he could be strong but I still have to see him in a hand-to-hand combat.
"Hmph, I still think he is just a food thief!" The other heroine said.
"This was unexpected" Now, I know why Kamui wanted to come here. Thought Death Arms joining the public in the applause.
Soon after his arrival, Izuku, Bakugo and Todoroki, in that order, crossed the finish line, exhausted and two of them really dissapointed.
"Little bush, did you see it? I won" Said Luffy jumping happily around him.
"Yes, Luffy-san. Congratulations!" Izuku was truly happy for his friend, he ended up second and it was a really good position. He was sure All-Might was proud of him too.
A couple of minutes later, the rest of the class finally arrived.
"Luffy that was amazing. You too Deku-kun, you were very clever with the mines" Said Ochaco
"Uraraka-san is right. Congratulations to both of you!" As expected of the captain. He took the first position with ease, I still have to learn a lot from him.
"Thanks guys. Shishishi"
"Thank you Uraraka-san, Iida-san. You also did a great job"
At that moment, Midnight spoke up "Okay, everyone. The first game of the first-year stage is finally over" The people answered with another ovation "Now, let's take a look at the results!"
In the screens of the stadium, they were now showing the classification of the race
"Unfortunately, only the first forty-two will pass to the next round. But don't worry, for those of you who did't make it we've prepared another activities for you to shine!" She said with a mischeivous smile "So, without further delay let's find out the next game, shall we?" Behind her another screen appeared, the stadium remained silent until the name of the game was shown "It's a calvary battle!"
"Oh no, I really bad at those things"
"It's not a individual event, I wonder how it'll work..."
"Well, listen. In this game, the participants will form groups from two to four people with whoever they wish. It's basically the same as a normal calvary battle except for one thing" She said "Based on the result of the obstacle race each person has been assigned a point value"
"So basically each team will be worth a different amount of points depending on who's on the team"
"Oh, I see!"
"Yes, that's right! And the points assigned go up by five starting from the bottom. So if the 42nd gets five points, the 41nd gets 10 and so on. However, the point value assiged to the first place will be ten million!" She announced
Ten million, huh?
In other words, if you take down the first place player's team...
...You can rise to the top no matter what place you are in!
Everybody was now looking at Luffy with predatory eyes except for some of his class.
Oh man, we have fight against that beast? No, thank you.
I'm already feeling compassion for the idiots who'll try to go against the captain.
However, despite having those thoughts they were still reluctant to form a team with him, because if they do it that means that more people is going to be after them. And they didn't want to take risks.
"Now, let me explain the rules. The time limit will be fifteen minutes and each team will be worth the total of its memebers' points. The riders will wear a headband with that number while the other teams will try to steal them; you are also allowed to use your Quirks. But remember, here even if your headband is stolen or your team falls you won't be disqualified unless it's you who makes your own team fall; the teams that will pass to the last round will be the ones that can accumulate the highest number of points. Now you have ten minutes to form your teams!"
"Okay. Little bush let's form a team together!" Said Luffy inmediately
"Hmmm, well... I..." Izuku was aware of the disadvantages he will have, but yet he wasn't able to turned down Luffy's request "Okay, Luffy-san, let's make a team"
"Great! And what about you, glasses?"
"Sorry, captain. But I think it will be better for me to join other team. I'm still in your shadow and I want to prove myself"
"Okay, good luck!"
I was expecting that. Thought Izuku. It would be difficult to find other people.
But then, he saw Uraraka approaching them. Or maybe not.
"Deku-kun, Luffy. Can I join you?"
"Of course, pink cheecks"
"Yes, Uraraka-san and thank you!"
"It's no problem guys. Besides, it's better to team up with people you get along with, right?"
However, when they tried to ask their classmates, they kept receiving negatives. It's not like they were surprised, but they had hope, that like Uraraka or Izuku, there would be another person that wanted to be in their team.
"I don't understand. Why everybody is saying no?"
He is not even aware of the situation. Uraraka thought
"Hehehehe, as I thought, this is great!" The three turned around when they heard a new voice behind them "You stand out, so team up with me, person in the first place!" Said the girl getting too close to Luffy's face, although he did not even budge at such bold approach
"Okay"
"Hmmm, excuse me. What is yout name?" Asked Uraraka
"Oh! My fault, my name is Hatsume Mei, from the support course"
"I'm Monkey D. Luffy"
"I already know it, that's why I chose you"
"Huh? Shouldn't you be avoiding our team instead? We'll be the center of the attacks because of Luffy's points"
"And that's exactly what I want! If I team up with the person that everyone will pay more attention then I could show my cute little babies to the world! It would be a great chance to make the big companies interested in my babies! Don't you see it!?" She said now invading Izuku's private space.
"Y-yes, of course. B-but Hatsume-san, what babies are you talking about?"
"That's how I call my inventions. Look!" She then opened up a suitcase full of technological devices "I have a ton of babies. I'm sure you'll be able to find one the you like"
"Wow. Amazing! You are just like Frankie!"
"It's incredible. Hatsume-san" Said Izuku looking specially at the jet pack and the boots. With her inventions, Uraraka's Quirk and Luffy's reflexes we can easily avoid other teams' attacks.
When they chose the devices they'll use, Izuku started to tell them about the strategy they are going to follow and the formation of the team. Basically, Luffy will be the rider, for obvious reasons, the girls will be positionated on the sides while he'll be placed on the front. He still couldn't control his Quirk but, apart from the captain, he had the best physical condition.
Two minutes later, the sound of a horn indicated the end of the ten minutes.
"Okay, everyone. It's about time to get started!" Said Midnight "Get in your positions!"
"The ten minutes' break has just finished, and twelve calvary teams are lined up on the field ready to fight!" Said, well, practically yelled President Mic from the booth "Now, it's time for U.A. bloodly battle to begin in ...Three ...Two ...One!"
"START!"
And as all had expected, once the chronometer started running, all the teams turned towards the ten million points' group.
"Yosh! Time to fight!" Said Luffy with his arms raised
"What?! No, Luffy-san we must run away! There are too many people going after us"
"Of course, not. I've never run from a fi-... guys something is coming, jump to the side now!"
The other three were startle because of the sudden order, specially Mei, so they didn't react on time. The floor then started to swallow them like quicksands, they had been hit by someone's Quirk
"What's happening?"
"We are sinking?"
"Hatsume-san, we don't have time. Activate Luffy's jet pack!" Said Izuku as he tried to get them out of this messy situation
"Roger that" Mei said as she pressed the red bottom, making them fly above the other competidors
"They are flying?!"
"Follow them, quickly!"
"Yahooo! I like this" Said Luffy. He was having fun with all these games.
However, while they were in the air, they didn't completely scaped the other teams's attacks. Jiro was the first to try it, only to be easyly blocked by Luffy's arm covered in haki.
"Damn it"
"Luffy-san, well done!"
"Guys, be careful, we are going to land" Warned Uraraka.
When they touched the ground again, they started running trying to avoid a frontal confrontation. But that didn't last long, two teams were now approaching them from opposite sides. One of them was Shoji's, who had Mineta and Tsuyu hidden on his back.
They can attack from long distances, so this could've been a disadvantage if they hadn't had Luffy. With his Observation Haki, he was telling them where they have to move to avoid most of Minetas' adhesive balls and Tsuyu's tongue.
The other group, conformed by students of class 1-B, was also very close so they decided to scape flying again, with the inconvenient that one of Uraraka's boot's was broken in the proccess.
"Oh no! My baby was torn apart!"
"Sorry, Hatsume-san"
They were now trying to find a place to land when some explosions were heard and two seconds later they saw Bakugo coming after them.
"DEKU! RUBBER-HEAD! Give that headband you bastards! You won't take away the first place away from me again!"
Most of people would have panicked in their situation. And if it's not for Luffy, they would have too.
"When I tell you, go down only a little and duck your head, okay?" The other's simply nodded
Bakugo was getting closer and closer, and when he was two meter away from the rider's head Luffy yelled "Now!"
Fllowing the order of the captain, Mei lowered their position a palm, still maintaining themselves in the air, and Luffy tilted his head to the opossite side, making Bakugo to miss the headbang only by an inch.
Stubborn as he is, he was going to try to attack from the other side again when, unexpectedly, Luffy punched him in the stomach sending him far away.
"Bakugo!" Fortunately for him, between Sero's tape and Kirishima's strenght they could catch him before he hit the ground
"Nice catch!"
"Are you okay, Bakugo?"
"Shit! Yes, yes, I'm fine" He told them, but his hand tightly clutched to his belly was saying otherwise.
"Incredible! What a nice dodge from the ten million group. With those reflexes, the others will have to think twice before attacking them!"
When Luffy's team reached the ground, they noticed that Uraraka was having difficulties.
"Pink cheeks, what's wrong?"
"It's the broken boot. It's hard to control the landing with only one working properly"
"Don't worry Uraraka-san, it's not your fault. We can get by without it" Or so I hope.
But then a familiar voice was heard behind them "My, my, my. What do we have here? It's the captain's group" It was Shinsho's team. However, Luffy soon noticed that something was wrong with the other members.
"What did you do to them?" He asked bluntly
What? The people of his team thought confused.
However, Shinso was surprised, he didn't thought that him of all people would discover his Quirk so fast "Oh? So you aren't as stupid as you make everyone believe" Luffy only frowned "But tell me, do you really think you'll be able to win with your group of losers?" Come on, take the bite. He thought
And Luffy complied "Of course, I will!" He exclaimed "I'll-..." His Quirk had the effect desired when the straw-hat boy suddenly stopped talking and his face adopted a blank expression.
"Luffy-san?"
Perfect, now I only have to order him to take his headband off. But before he could do anything he saw Luffy shaking his head, coming back to reality on his own "Wait, what?"
Once he was out the trance Shinso put him, he used a little wave of his conqueror's haki to free the others as well.
"Eh? What's happening? The game has already begun?" Said Ojiro, a little disconcerted
"I don't remember anything"
"Me either"
Did he just annul my Quirk? How?
Mei was totally clueless, she didn't understand what happened, and while Izuku and Uraraka were also a little confused, they were able to feel 'it'. They knew Luffy has just used 'haki', but they didn't know why.
I'll ask him later. Thought Izuku "Come on guys, let's go! If we stay here we'll have problems"
"Yes!" They girls replied as they resumed their way again.
"Okay, everyone. Seven minutes has passed, I think it's time we take a look at each team's poin-... eh?!"
The crowd as well as the commentarists were now watching in confusion the screens.
"...H-HOW THIS HAPPENED?! Apart from Luffy's team, the other students from class 1-A are not doing so well!" President Mic yelled.
It was then when Bakugo felt his headband loosen.
"Class 1-A should be more careful"
"Hey, bastard. Give me that back or I'll kill you!" Bakugo said as charming as ever.
"Huh? Why should I?" Answered the guy with Bakugo's headband "You know, while all of you were showing off your powers during the first game, class 1-B chose to not stand out and watch how your Quirks work for the second round"
"You did this as a class?" Asked Kirishima
"Most of us agreed on that, yes" He replied "It was a good idea, well, better that being like you and being disqualified after being temporarily on the top, right?"
Bakugo's non existent patience was decreasing even more if that's possible
"Oh! That's right, you are also famous for being the victim of the sludge incident. Now tell me, how does it feel to be attacked by villains once a year?"
And that's when he didn't even tried to suppress his anger. One could even swear to have seen read flames around him.
"Kirishima..." He said, scaring even the people from his team
"Y-yes?"
"We have a change of plans. Before going for that rubber-head, let's kill this guys!"
The other simply responded with a mocking smile.
"Only four minutes left!"
Great we only need to keep up like this! Izuku thought.
Luffy's team was still running from one place to another trying to avoid the other teams, and they were very succesfull until Todoroki's group blocked their way.
"I would be taken that" Said Todoroki
Luffy only smirked "I don't think so" He said with a mischievous grin. He undrestood little bush plan, but he wanted to fight. "Come on, or are you too afraid to get closer?"
"Captain! Stop provoking them!" Izuku was trying to think a way out of this "Don't stop moving, guys!" He said as he tried to retroced
"Hey, don't run away again. I wanna fight!" Whined Luffy hitting his friend's head
"Ouch! Luffy-san, don't do that!"
Five teams, including Todoroki's, used that moment of distraction to get closer to the ten million headband.
"Iida go foward! Momo, Kaminari prepare yourselves!"
In only five seconds they had been surrounded
"What do we do now, Deku-kun?"
"I- I don't..."
"Don't worry, guys" Intervened Luffy "You just need to stay still until I said so"
"Y-yes" Uraraka and Izuku replied a little hesitant. They trusted him but they weren't seeing how Luffy is going to solve this
The same was for Mei, she was going to question his decision when they saw Kaminari electrocuting the other groups and Todoroki immobilizing them with his ice.
He then tried to freeze Izuku's feet too but Luffy was faster telling his team to move to their right. That's how they passed the next three minutes; dodging the ice and blocking with Luffy's rubber body Kaminari's electric attacks.
"Only one minute left!"
"Damn it!" How is Luffy able to predict my movements? It doesn't make sense. Todoroki was growing impatient for the little time they had left. All of them were pretty worn out and Kaminari has reached his limit. Think. Think! There has to be something!
"Todoroki-san!" Said Iida catching the attention of his teamates "I have a special move that no one knows that could give us the opportunity to catch the ten million headband!"
"Iida, are you sure?"
"Completely. However I can only use it once so all of you need to be prepared, especially you Todoroki-san. You'll need to be fast to catch the headband"
After thinking for a moment he finally agreed "Okay, let's do it"
As they were taking a few seconds to prepare themselves they tried to corner Luffy's group in a place with little space to maneuver.
What are they planning to do?
"Twenty seconds left!"
"Guys wait!" Luffy said "Stop where you are"
"Hold on tight!" Said Iida before he activated his Quirk "Toque over...Recipro Burst!"
Todoroki's group was approaching the ten million team at aoutstanding speed, but not fast enough for Luffy not to react in time
Wait
"L-Luffy..."
"Not yet"

"Four seconds..."
"Move, now!" He scremed
Mei and Izuku nervousness made them react rather late to Luffy's order, but not Uraraka. Thanks to her quick thinking, she used her Quirk in Mei, Izuku and Luffy to make them light enough to move all of them on her own. Fortunately, she managed to take three steps to her right before the other team reached them.
Due to that, and Luffy's reflexes they dodged succesfully the attack.
What?! How?
We failed?
At that moment, a horn was heard indicating the end of the second game.
"...AND THE TIME IS UP!"
The crowd didn't wait to burst into cheers and applauses.
"Yahooo! We won!" Luffy screamed with excitement. He then turn to his left to look at Ochako "And pink cheeks that was amazing! Without you they could've taken our points!"
Ochako couldn't help but feel proud for being praised by someone as strong as Luffy "Thank you, captain" She replied with a big smile.
"The fifteen minutes have ended ladies and gentleman, so let's take a look at the classification" The voice of President Mic was heard again "In the first place, after an incredible demostration of pure defense and reflexes we have Luffy's team! They had not lost his ten million headband in any single moment! ISN'T THAT AMAZING?!"
"Oi, I think you are showing too much favoritism" Warned Aizawa
"Nonsense" He simply said before announcing the other groups "The other teams that had earned a spot in the last round are... Bakugo's team raking second, followed by Todoroki's and Ken- no, wait a minute, Shinso's team will be the one to pass to the finales! Even in the last seconds the results can change drastically! Amazing!"
Comin back to the students, the ones that will participate in the last round were very happy, well, most of them.
"Second, second, second, second..."
"What's happening with him?" Asked Sero pointing to Bakugo
"He is mad because we couldn't take Luffy's headband" Kirishima said "Althought, he is taking it better than I th-..."
"SECOND AGAIN?! IT'S RUBBER-HEAD AND DEKU'S FAULT! I am going to destroy them!"
"Forget it. He hasn't changed"
"Now, we'll take an hour's break for luch before we start the afternoon activities. See ya!" Announced President Mic "Hey, Eraserhead, let's go grab food".
The other briefly glanced at him before taking his yellow sleep-bag "I'm going to sleep"

I want to say that Luffy won't be shipped with ANYBODY from My Hero Academia World or the One Piece World. It's just my preference, I simply don't see him in a relationship; the only girl that I could potentially accept is Nami but I prefer that Luffy remains single.
However, I plan for Luffy to have a deeper relationship (no romantic) with Mina, Uraraka and Momo after the Sports Festival (And maybe some power-ups for the girls as well). Would you like that? And what other characters in MHA World do you want Luffy to meet or be closer with?
Also, I want to make another question. Do you want Luffy's fourth gear to appear in the trainning camp arc (against AFO or the villains that doesn't matter) or further in the story (and when)? This is one of the points of the fanfic I haven't decided yet so I am open to suggestions.
