Like yesterday, today was a day of home improvement. Well, that and one very exciting event, but I'll save that for last.
Once more we split up after breakfast, all working on different things. VV alternated between training his moves and just watching people, keeping them company while they worked. Matsu did pretty similar, alternating between messing with the Jinki and helping others with what they were doing. Though she also spent some time with her laptop now that she could plug it in. Whenever I peeked over her shoulder though she was reading some downloaded manga or watching anime. She claimed it was research for places we might end up. I suspect she just wanted to watch anime, but she also wasn't wrong, so I left her to it.
Uzume had finished our beds yesterday, and they were great to sleep on last night. They were much more firm and the fabric she used as the case was much more comfortable than the canvas from before.
So today, she did much of the same, except instead of making large beds, she made small cushions. Dozens of cushions of various sizes that people could sit on so we weren't forced to sit on the wood benches or ground.
And while Uzume did that, Levy and Chiho were setting up some of the barrels we bought. The six large plastic drums that had attached spigots were easily our bulkiest purchase yesterday, but they weren't very expensive. I would have bought more if we had room for them. Still, six was plenty for now. We didn't even use all of them. One was put in the dining room, one outside between the farm and forge, and another in the pantry.
All three were put on simple tables that Levy and Chiho built so that you could easily use the tap to get some water out of them. And water is what we were using them for, as Levy was in charge of keeping them topped off with water and ice to keep it cold. Not that we had cups to drink out of. That will change soon, hopefully.
Meanwhile, I helped Bisky and Kusano with setting up an actual kitchen. So far they'd been cooking over a fire that Levy made near the kiln, but we had options now. Kusano used her power to grow counter tops and shelves over in the northwest corner of the dining room. All of our cooking tools, some spices, and more were stored there. And on the counter we placed a portable stove top, like the kind you take camping, and we plugged it into the power strip placed in that area specifically to create the kitchen.
Okay, so I wasn't very needed there, as all I did was move stuff from the storage room and be the tall person that could most easily put things on the higher shelves and hooking up the power. But it was time I got to spend with Kusano and Bisky, and Kusano looked so excited for the kitchen that I had a good time just helping out.
Of course I continued to train my Nen while we worked. That was just a normal part of my day, especially since the nature of the Skyblock being my Demiplane made it so I recovered fairly quickly and therefore could train my Ren faster.
I wasn't neglecting Ten and Zetsu though. Zetsu wasn't something you could train much beyond how quickly and easily you can switch to it, but I had reached the point where I could enter it very quickly and very easily. Ten I didn't work on much since I was pretty constantly in a cycle of Ren and Zetsu, but I did maintain it in the evenings and while asleep, and the past two nights I managed to keep it up all night.
All that being said, I probably wouldn't have written this journal entry if that was all that happened. But something happened today that I can't not chronicle.
Tinks went directly to her new smithy after breakfast and, after being supplied a bunch of materials by Levy, started working away. The clanging of metal against metal was a constant background noise that could be heard from anywhere else on the Skyblock.
So when, in the mid-afternoon, that noise stopped and the skyblock grew quiet, it drew my attention. The kitchen was set up and I was in the storage room at the time, looking over our stuff to see what I should start working on next. But I was curious about what progress Tinks had made, so I went to check on her.
The first thing I saw was a lot of steam rising into the air. Below it was Tinks holding her tongs over the clay pot, dumping whatever she was holding into the water. I stood a few feet away, silently watching as she put the final steps on her creation.
I wasn't surprised when she pulled the tongs back to reveal the hammer she was working on, a hefty thing bigger than she was. She placed the hammer on the anvil, still steaming as the water on it evaporated from the heat.
The haft of it was a long piece of solid metal taller than she was. It was topped by a large asymmetrical head, with one side being large and square and the other side tapering down to a smaller point. It wasn't anywhere near sharp, it just came down to a round point that was roughly the size of a golf ball.
"That looks really good, Tinks," I said, speaking for the first time. But Tinks didn't respond, she just stared at the hammer, watching it. The tongs slipped from her grasp without her moving, and I realized something was going on. "Tinks?" I asked, concerned.
She finally moved then, reaching up with one of her hands to grasp the handle of the hammer she had just created. It was bigger than she was, but she didn't seem to have any trouble lifting it, nor did the heat seem to bother her.
She hefted it over her head. And then she started glowing. White light poured off of her, obscuring her form. I panicked at first, wondering what was happening and if she was in danger, but it clicked a couple seconds later.
Tinks was evolving.
The white light of evolution got brighter, bright enough that I struggled to look in her direction, but I didn't dare look away. Squinting, I could just barely make out her silhouette, and I watched it as it changed, growing to twice her previous height and the 'hair' on her head getting longer.
And then the light started to fade as the evolution process ended. Tinks remained in that pose as the light disappeared entirely, and I could see her new form as a Tinkatuff.
Where before she resembled a strange pink baby, now she looked more like a kid, her 'hair' kept in a ponytail and her limbs a little longer. She was much taller now, probably a bit over two feet, which put her at about the same size as the hammer she had just made. But other than looking a bit older, she hadn't changed much.
She lowered her hammer, the moment over, and I finally broke out of my stupor. I rushed to her side and suddenly picked her up, struggling a bit with the additional weight of her new hammer. "You did it, Tinks!" I praised her. "You evolved! I'm so proud of you!"
Tinks let out a noise of surprise as I picked her up, but it quickly turned to joy as she realized why I was celebrating. Her voice was just a little deeper now, but still sounded like ethereal windchimes and bending metal. She cheered and waved her arms, her hammer swinging dangerously through the air.
"What's going on?" Levy asked as she approached, Chiho close behind her. Then she spotted Tinks. "When did you get so big?" she asked in surprise.
I set Tinks down so she could swing her hammer without risking hitting me in the face. "She evolved," I explained. "When certain conditions are met, Pokemon will grow to their next stage, changing their form, dramatically in some cases."
"Congratulations Tinks!" Chiho said as she knelt down to speak to her. "Is it because you made that new hammer?"
Tinks nodded and held it up so Chiho could look at it. I took a closer look as well. The metal was a dull gray the same color as iron that Levy made with her magic, maybe a little darker.
The haft of it was smooth and cylindrical, but not perfectly so. The bottom, where she held it, was a little thicker and curved to form a better grip. And the top, where both heads were attached, was also thicker. I was able to tell then that that part of it was actually her old hammer. I could recognize the seams where it was forced together through her pre-forge methods, though they were only lines now, having been properly welded together as she made the new hammer.
For a moment I was confused about how she managed to put her old hammer into the new one, since that would have left her without one. But then I spotted a hammer meant for hammering nails propped up against the anvil. It looked a little worse for wear, but still usable. Still, I made a mental note to pick up a basic blacksmith hammer for her next time we did a shopping trip, for when she needed to upgrade hers.
"I remember you telling me that before, but I didn't think it would look like this," Levy said as she also knelt down to pat Tinks on the head. "Are you feeling alright?"
Tinks nodded and made another happy noise before holding out her empty hand, opening and closing it in a clear 'gimme' gesture.
"I think she wants more iron so she can try out her new hammer," I guessed. Tinks nodded again, confirming my guess, and made the gesture again.
Levy smiled. "Alright, I'll make you a nice big pile this time."
Levy did exactly that, writing 'Iron' several dozen times and creating a pile of them. Tinks didn't waste any time getting to work, grabbing a few and using the tongs to place them on the bed of coal, which she started lighting up by pumping the bellows.
Before, pumping the bellows was a full body action for her, with her reaching up as high as she could to reach its maximum height. Though 'as high as she could' was about eye level for her as a Tinkatink. But now, with longer limbs and being twice as tall? It still came up pretty high compared to her, but only to about chest level, meaning she was able to pump it much easier. In fact, I realized that the whole forge setup was perfect for her new size.
The three of us watched as she heated up several of the 'Iron' pieces, slowly getting them to a white hot level before picking them up, placing them on the anvil, and using her new hammer to smash them together. She stopped a few times to put the pieces back on the forge and pump it some more, reheating the makeshift ingots before pounding them into each other again.
The sounds of her hammer against the anvil were different now. Each strike was heavier and deeper than it had been before, a physical reverberation traveling through the air with each strike.
Eventually she reached a point where they were definitely one continuous piece, but her actions remained the same. Heat it up, smash it with the hammer, repeat. But it was starting to take shape as a long rod, and eventually she had to start working on it in pieces, being unable to heat up the whole thing at once.
It wasn't until she started using the pointy part of the anvil to bend the rod that I realized what she was making. Another pair of tongs, this one suited for her new size and looking much sturdier.
Uzume and Matsu joined us in watching Tinks work at some point, drawn over due to their curiosity about why we were all standing there. Matsu let out an excited cheer when she saw Tinks' new form, but we shushed her so Tinks could focus on what she was making. Uzume just seemed confused until Chiho explained it to her in a quiet whisper.
VV showed up too, silently watching Tinks. I couldn't get a read on how he felt, even with Communication Talent aiding me. He was just watching. He didn't seem upset or excited or anything in particular beyond a general feeling of interest.
We all watched as she repeated the whole process, making a second rod identical to the first. Then she flattened a part in the middle of each rod and punched a hole through both of the flattened parts using one of the tent stakes. I realized then that I probably should have kept a closer eye on what she was using and made a mental note to ask her to make her tools she needed first rather than just use whatever she could find.
Then, after setting those aside, she took a bit of scrap iron, heated it up, and carefully formed it into a small cylinder that she then carefully slotted into the holes she made in the tong rods, creating the hinge it needed to lever. She then heated up the entire hinge and started hammering the cylinder down from where it stuck out of the rods, flattening it down so it would securely hold the two rods together while still allowing for some rotation.
And just like that, she was done. She had a proper set of tongs that looked like they could hold more weight than the pair she made by bending metal with her bare hands. She gave it a quick test, clacking the 'teeth' of the tongs together a few times. She smiled with a big and open grin in satisfaction at their performance.
Everyone watching her, myself included, clapped and applauded. The entire process had taken nearly an hour, but I don't think I was alone in not having been bored the entire time. Not because blacksmithing in general was entertaining to watch, though there was a certain amount of satisfaction in watching metal transform like that. No, we were just all enthralled by seeing Tinks, this cute little two foot tall pink fairy, expertly work the metal through instinct alone.
The final product was pretty clean, and didn't at all look like a beginners work. It was strange, since fairies were usually averse to iron, but Tinks was comfortable with it to the point of it being part of her.
I approached her again, squatting so I could pet her head. "Look at you, my little blacksmith," I said. "You did such a good job. Are you going to be the one that makes all the metal stuff we need?" She let out an assertive cry as she nodded. "Thanks a lot Tinks, this will help us a lot."
Tinks pulled away from me, heading back to the pile of iron. "Wait, you're going to make something else?" I asked. "Why don't you take a break, aren't you tired?"
She turned back to me and shook her head enthusiastically. She certainly seemed full of energy. I wondered if maybe evolving had energized her rather than tired her out, I wasn't sure how that worked. "Well, okay, if you want. But if you feel tired, I want you to stop, okay? Even if you're in the middle of something. It can wait until tomorrow. And dinner will be soon too, so you'll have to stop then as well."
Tinks let out another tinkling noise and nodded, even as she continued digging through the iron pile.
I turned to the others. "Come on guys, let's get back to work." The others standing around watching nodded and dispersed, most of them heading back into the house. Levy and VV stayed though.
"You're going to be a great dad," Levy suddenly said as she looked at me with a coy smile.
I felt my cheeks heat up. I honestly didn't know how to respond to that kind of statement. I'm not sure I agree, but looking back on the whole thing with Tinks… maybe she's right. I've never had much patience for kids, but with Tinks it was different.
"No kids until we're entirely self-sufficient," I told her.
She continued giving me a look for a moment, making it clear that she knew I was shifting the subject, but she chose to let it slide. "Probably a good idea," she agreed. "Though I'm sure we'll hit that point within nine months."
I grunted in vague agreement and headed for the house. "I need to do more Ren training," I said instead. "And there's more work to be done."
I heard her laugh as I walked away, amused at my embarrassment no doubt.
The rest of the day was fairly normal, the short time before dinner accompanied by the sound of Tinks working at her smithy, having fun with her new hammer. And the dining room smelt amazing, as it was within just a few feet of the new kitchen where Kusano was cooking, guided by Bisky. It was very distracting and I had to go back outside to practice my Ren.
Kusano and Bisky were equally excited about Tinks' new evolution once it was explained to them, congratulating her and doting on her. Tinks soaked up all the attention, which was a sign of her growth. Before she would have shrunk away from so much focus purely on her, but now she just seemed pleased.
My mind has been filled with thoughts of the future since before dinner. Things I want to do to improve our home, worlds I want to visit, people I want to recruit into my harem. There's so many different things I could do, but I'm limited by chance and it's going to take so long to get there.
But it's only been a few weeks since I started this, since the first time I woke up on this Skyblock. And now I have a house, I have electricity, I have a harem of four with two more on the wings, and I'm learning Nen, one of my favorite power systems of all time. I've made great strides in a relatively small amount of time, and you know what? I'm proud of that.
But I'm just getting started.

AN: Another very short chapter, really only focusing on what needs to be focused on. As a few of you guessed though, yes, Tinks building the forge was a lead-in to her evolving. I decided to take a more lore-focused approach for the Tinkatink line and decided that evolutions aren't based on 'level', but instead their hammer. When it reaches a certain level of quality they evolve. Tinkatink to Tinkatuff requires a hammer that is no longer super basic looking, but is moderately impressive and of decent quality. To get to Tinkaton, the hammer needs to be spectacular, a grand object in some way. That requirement is going to be much harder to reach.
You'll also notice that Tinks' hammer is not at all how it looks in the game. That's because I decided that it makes sense with this lore that each Tinkatuff and Tinkaton have unique looking hammers, since each of them make it on their own using whatever materials they can find. That's not something they can implement in the game of course, but I can easily do so here. Tinks' hammer specifically isn't meant for fighting either(though it can certainly be used that way) and draws inspiration from a classic blacksmithing hammer to better suit her goals and role.
I'm kinda sad to see Tinks evolve though. Her evolutions pretty closely resemble a human growing up, with the Tinkatink form pretty obviously designed to look like a baby, with the large head and the hammer that looks like a baby's toy. Tinkatuff, in comparison, looks like a kid, could be anywhere from six to twelve. So I guess what I'm saying is that it's hard to see your kids grow up and get older, but it has to happen regardless.
And again, for the record: a) no, there won't be any pokephilia in this fic, and b) no I won't humanize any pokemon to make them fuckable. This ain't the fic for that.
