Chapter 35

Violet pursed her lips together as she watched the television in her little apartment that was owned by Shield. Her brows pinched together in concern as she watched. She knew that she had made the right choice in leaving them to handle everything on their own since she had something to deal with much larger than what her people had to deal with.

"The President of the United States."

She shifted in her chair as her hands clasped on her lap. She could only hope that this wouldn't be a mess. She knew that the President wanted to do something about the Mutant problem, but it was something that he wouldn't be able to control.

"My fellow Americans… Today we face the gravest threat in our history… mutants. We have prepared for this threat. In the immortal words of Robert Oppenheimer… "Behold. The world will never be the same again.""

Violet let out a scoff shaking her head lightly. "Us the threat? What about the other threats in the world that are on Hydra level?" She questioned herself as she shifted in her chair watching the television. Her brows pinched together in worry. Now that was something bad seeing the sentinels powering up. "Oh fuck." She cursed to herself, of course there would be a danger that she was hoping that wouldn't happen.

"What the hell are you doing? I didn't tell you to activate them."

"I didn't."

She watched the television screen intently hoping that nothing else bad would happen. Her brain raced to Jimmy who was there with Charles and the others. She didn't want her brother to get injured in something that shouldn't have happened. Her heart gripped in her chest when she didn't saw her brother on the screen no longer. What happened to him? That was the only thought that raced through her mind. Her thoughts were broken when her phone began to ring.

She got up out of her chair and padded out of her living room and into the kitchen where her phone was. She picked it up off of the receiver. "Hello?"

"Are you watching the news up there in Canada?" Howard's voice rang out over the line.

"Yes, I was watching it." She said as she crossed her arms. "I have a feeling you want me to go in and talk to them? To find out what exactly happened?"

Howard let out a soft chuckle. "You are more familiar with them than any of us are. Plus we need to put Magneto behind glass again."

"You do realize he's going to go into hiding so no one finds him?" She said letting out a soft breath.

"The question is why didn't you stop them. You were supposed to move him."

"Well, I had a feeling that he was broken out…"

"He killed JFK."

Violet let out a breath. "I heard out of his own mouth that JFK was like me… well us… He was trying to save his life."

"And you believe him?"

"Something about him made me believe him." Violet said, running her hand through her hair. "You know I have a sense of these things."

"Violet it's not unknown that you know him from the camps."

"No one would know if I didn't put it into a file." Violet said, letting out a breath leaning against the wall.

"We can't have something like this happening again."

"You act like Shield is going to stop whatever happens. We're a precaution."

"Still."

Violet let out a breath. "There was nothing that we were going to do about this. Even if I had gone it would have still happened."

"You mean to tell me that you went with them?"

"Yes. But I couldn't bring myself to see someone else die, Howard."

Howard let out a breath. "Sergeant Barnes has been gone for years now Letty. What happened to him wasn't your fault."

"It doesn't stop me from missing him, Howard." She took a breath and pinched her nose. "I will write a file for this."

I've been working on other stories, but I have my muse more for my Marvel fics than anything.
