Chapter 20: Survival of the Fittest Part 1

London, England

It was just another day in my new city. I've been here for a few months and I already fell in love with it. Everyone was mostly nice so far and I've made a few friends at the café I worked. I worked two jobs to help keep up with rent and I was contemplating on going back to school for a degree. Life seemed to get back to relatively normal as my dreams started to come back to me. And I didn't mean my psychic dreams. I still performed psychic things on people if they wanted me too, only to a few closest friends of mine who knew what I was.

I'd gone to the market and picked up some groceries. I was tired, working late last night at a local restaurant. I work at a restaurant as a waitress and café as a hostess. I was walking towards my apartment when my phone rang. I took it out of my back jeans pocket and looked at the caller i.d. on my cell and realized it was Sam. I smiled. I haven't heard from him in a long time.

"Hey Sam," I pressed send and greeted him.

"Hey, it's good to hear your voice. You doing all right in London?" he asked.

"Yeah, everything's fine. I just got some groceries actually-"

"K-Kaylee you didn't pick up any meat did you?"

"Yeah, why?"

"There's stuff in it that uh makes you stoned and angry and it's let's just say it's not pretty. You should probably get a refund."

I laughed. "Sam, it's Dick Roman. He's only over taking America. It's not like he's crossed oceans."

"That we know of. Just, please be careful. Eat rabbit food," Sam said.

I smiled. "Fine. I'll be a vegetarian if that'll make you happy."

"Yes, it would actually," Sam said.

"Anyway, I'm good, but uh, how are you?" I asked, walking into my building and up the stairs to the second floor of where my apartment would be.

I'd been worried about him ever since we lost Bobby to Dick Roman. I knew it was going to be a personal vendetta with those boys.

"Fine, yeah, great actually. Cas is back, erm sort of," Sam said.

"He is?" I asked skeptically. "How?"

"Long story," Sam said.

"Yeah, I bet," I said, turning the corner and walking down the white hallway. "I'm genuinely curious though."

Sam laughed. "Of course you are. I mean the man dropped on Dean's car, naked with a bunch of bees surrounding him, so the story goes. I wasn't there."

"Where were you?" I asked.

"Dealing with some stuff, it was a hunt," Sam said.

"Ah, gotchya, gotchya," I said.

I stopped at my door. It was unlocked and cracked a bit. The doorknob looked like it'd been ripped off. My heart started to pound wildly against my chest as fear kicked in.

"Kaylee?" Sam asked when I hadn't said anything as of late.

"Yeah, hang on Sam…." I said, lowering my cell from my ear. I gripped my key into my hand and pushed the door slowly open. I walked around and saw that my room had been fine. No one trashed it. I thought that was a bit odd. It's not like I had anything valuable anyway.

I closed the door behind me and suddenly wished I hadn't. Two men came forward. I gasped in shock. Who were they and what did they want with me?

"Kaylee?" Sam's concerned voice was heard on my cell phone. I dropped my groceries on the ground and grabbed a fire poker stick from the bin that had an umbrella inside it, keeping my cell in the other hand.

"We've come to collect you," one said.

"Oh yeah on who's authority?" I asked.

"Kaylee, what's going on?" Sam asked on the phone.

"Dick Roman's of course," he said and then he changed his face into a Leviathan and realized this fire poker wasn't going to help me much. I needed borax which was in the kitchen under the sink. I decided to try and hit him anyway with the fire poker stick in hopes I could run into the kitchen and get myself some borax but he was too quick. He grabbed it and threw it across the room. I slowly backed away from him until I found myself in the arms of the other one.

"Kaylee!"

"SAM!"

And before I knew it I was knocked unconscious…

Back in the States…

I was roughly put in a chair.

"Stay here for a second." The kidnapper said.

I wondered how long I was out for. I looked over and saw two kids a girl and a boy. I turned to the boy with a frown. Wonder what he was in for.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"My name's Kevin. You?"

"Kaylee. What are you in here for?"

"I'm a prophet. Are you one too?" he asked hopefully.

I shook my head. "Nope. Just your average psychic…sorry kiddo."

"Great, I'm on my own then," he sighed, leaning his head back against the seat.

Great. Just great.

"Stay unconscious!" the kidnapper came back and hit me on the back of the head, knocking me out.
