"What's her name?" asked the kneeling Slayer petting the dog trying to lick her face. This really wasn't what she'd expected after jumping off Glory's tower only moments ago. Instead of dying, she'd landed harmlessly in somebody's rural backyard.
"Buffy."
"Huh?" blinked Buffy, looking up at the two guys standing there. The white guy who'd just answered kept staring at her with a seriously disbelieving expression.
He repeated, "Buffy the Biscuit Slayer."
"Never mind that," the black guy interrupted. "Hap's kid made us watch the whole show. Anybody ever mention you're a dead ringer for Sarah Michelle Gellar? Only younger?"
Author's Note: This short-short was inspired by recently reading Lansdale's latest Hap and Leonard terrific suspense novel 'The Elephant of Surprise' which mentions Hap's dog with that specific full name also given years ago to the writer's own family pet, now sadly deceased.
