"Wait! Luz!" Amity called out for her, "You can't just go and suddenly storm off!" She gripped Luz's arm as it swung back, and her strides abruptly stopped.
"I'm fine Amity!" She argued back, leaving her in the hallway as the rest of the group was still in her room; listening intently. She pulled her arm out of her girlfriend's grip.
"No, you're not!" Amity tested, throwing her arms down as Ghost scampered between her legs. "Do you really expect me not to be on edge after what you did? You scared us all half to death!" her voice broke out, and Luz was hesitant.
Luz quickly whipped around and showed just how tall she was in comparison to Amity, and Amity felt herself take a step back. "You don't need to worry about it alright?" Luz yelled back, and her tone boomed and echoed through the hallways - even the birds that peacefully rested on the top of the Owl House had flown away from her sudden outburst. Amity felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up on high alert, as her mind was now screaming to her: Run, she's a threat to you, just run. Amity didn't want to believe it; watching the soft eyes she once knew be replaced with the black void of bright golden flames.
Something wasn't right with Luz, and she was just starting to figure it out.
Luz's breath hitched, realizing what she'd done, and quickly pulled back. Noticing the small welling and glossiness in Amity's eyes. The recklessness of her emotions now... they really did a number on people. Especially her friends.
"—Amity... I—" Luz faltered, hoping to reach her hand out and for it to be gripped tightly by her.
But Amity just turned away.
She turned away.
Did she really screw up that bad? They were always so closely knit with each other— with the whole team. So was she really pushing herself away now?
Luz pulled her arm back slowly and shook her head in disbelief. Not only did she feel the guilt, but there were small pecks of anger protruding through her consciousness. Her expression turned to a scowl, and she turned around. Not saying another word as the deathly silence buzzed in Amity's ears.
Amity could hear the running of footsteps, of Hunter and Camila running out to aid her. But they were just a little too late to catch the exchange. "Amity!" Hunter gasped for air. Running over to her side, she collapsed in his arms. "Hey! What happened? We heard yelling and—"
"It's Luz." Amity strained to hold back tears. "She's gone." She finally was able to form a logical sentence, but Hunter was confused, and Camila was concerned.
Camila took a step back, "What?" She let out a sharp breath. "No she didn't just—"
"She left," Amity reassured, and she could hear the sigh of relief.
There was a pause, allowing her to breathe.
"What happened?" Eda stormed into the hallway. Also aware of the small exchange that just occurred from Luz's abnormal outburst.
Amity let out a breath. "I got in a fight with Luz. But she just wasn't…" she trailed off, and Hunter held her shoulder; squeezing it lightly.
Hunter, who had never felt this sort of courage well up inside of his system, he decided to take action before Camila was even able to let the thought pass through her head. "We'll find her."
Willow, who was also coming out to investigate, came to her friends' side. "Yep." She confirmed, letting her hands set on her hips.
Amity shook her head. "She's got to be far away by now, so how are we—"
"Amity." Willow paused. "We will find her. Hell, she might even just come back." She shrugged.
Ghost meowed, weaving through Amity's trembling legs. "Where would she even go?" She said, almost in a mental whisper.
Hunter kept himself from pacing, and his hands jittered. Remembering all that what he and Luz went through. And felt heavy empathy flushed his emotions. Or was it Sympathy? He couldn't tell in the light fog. His gaze went out of the Owl House, and onlooking the destroyed castle - that held so many memories he wanted to push away. "I think I know where."
Willow was quick to understand his internal turmoil just by the unsure look in his eyes. She knew he didn't want to go back; but she also knew that his hunch might be just the right one they need to find her.
She summoned Clover to her side, and fixed her glasses. "I'm assuming you're going to need a ride?" She asked, and he bobbed his head.
"Just be careful." Gus warned, taking a step out from the room's flush doorframe.
"We will." Hunter answered for both him and Willow.
Clover landed in an effortless sweep to the dark dirt ground of the outskirts of the castle. Hunter felt a shiver run down his spine; as if the world was closing in on his lungs again. The confinement of abandonment and gloom wrenched through the air (and his stomach. As he sadly ate some of the Famous Isle Cookies before they left).
"We're here." Willow confirmed, and he could've sworn to hear the slightly of shaking in her stoic tone.
He looked to Willow, worried. "You coming in?"
"No," she rejected, looking around. "I'll keep guard at the entrance to make sure nobody tries anything." She said a little dryly.
Hunter wanted to comply, but he urged to press. "Why not? I would really like if you could—"
"I'm not going in there Hunter." She replied, her eyebrows knitting into a half scowl.
"Why not?" He prodded a little.
Willow grumbled. "Because I don't know my way around there. Well, not when I was not doing a rescue mission or in imminent danger." she paused, glancing back up at the destroyed spite up head. "I only went in there once, and I was caught with Liz and Gus."
Hunter tilted his head curiously. "Really? When?"
"The tours." She replied bluntly. "It was a long time ago— minus the place creeps me out."
He nodded in understanding, and decided to stop pressing on the matter. "Alright then." He submitted. "But don't leave. Because I can't walk back."
Willow could only manage a small giggle part her lips. "Yeah, yeah. I figured."
Hunter's eyes rolled back, almost ticking the back of his head and brain before coming back. He turned and began to walk over to the castle.
It always felt so big on the inside, but it seemed so small and— destroyed in a sense. It was weird. On one hand, the place was as old as time, (as well as Bellos) but for some reason he always was drawn to the place. It's real origins.
Since Bellos wasn't the most truthful person on the Isles, what could Hunter believe? Not only to know the fact he was a Grimm Walker.
Oh Titan. He thought, a small, vague image flashed in his daydreaming mind. What if there was more of him, and he didn't even know it? He shivered, not allowing the photo to go deeper into his subconscious. Since he did want to be able to sleep somewhat tonight.
He held his breath, squeezing himself around the rubble that was the main entrance. But now caved in from the light side, forcing him to climb to the barricaded doors.
Well this was going to be a long night.
