Review Shoutouts

The embodiment of Weirdness – Well she is a deredere, or at least according to VNDB.

I'll try to keep it up or be consistent at least, but no promises.

The Storyteller993 – Mm… I'll probably do the Margit Loyal route, then do the Hound Harem route.

I hope in this chapter Nagamasa and Yamato will finally be able to confront this issue as if it gets any worse it will effect the future, as we all probably know.

Don't worry Ageha will be making a few more appearances in this route, and later on but you guys probably know when.

Alyousifahmed4 – Actually yes, the battle with Nagamasa and Lisa based on the Afro vs. Samurai Jack Death Battle including the quip, I couldn't include the jump so…

Mrgamerandwatcher – No this is purely based on the games.

ElBurritoBandido – I will do my best to add my own spin to certain routes, some will keep to their original story as this one has shown, but all in all I want to keep faithful to the material, but add my own little spin.

As for cameos… you'll just have to find out ;)

Majikoi – Love Me Seriously! – Momoyo Route

The Goddess of War – Part 7

A New Day, A New Dawn

June 30th, 2009, Tuesday

The next morning on the walk to school – The only person who had known about my confession was Toshimaru, so none of the Kazama family knew about my actions except Momoyo.

As we walked to school the group began talking about a primetime war drama that had already been finished being on air. Of course, such a conversation led into the usual antics of this family of misfits.

"Yo." Momoyo greeted the group.

"Yeah." Wanko did the same.

"Hey guys!" I energetically greeted them.

"Yay!" Miyako returned.

"Dooom!" Matsukaze ruined the moment.

"Can you not greet her in Japanese?" Chris was now slightly annoyed which left Mayucchi to greet us in Japanese.

As we integrated into the group things continued on, "So, protégé..." Momoyo began.

"Yeah?" I whispered.

"No one here knows right?" She whispered to me.

"Yup, not a word." I replied.

"Why're you blushing?" She said as she smirked, "Are you running a fever?"

I felt her press her forehead to mine, being so close to her was nerve-wracking but I stood my ground as best I could.

"Wow, you really are burning up." She said as she felt my hot face.

"Yes, but not for what you're thinking probably, or maybe…" I shrugged. But in a way this was always the way she'd started treating me since I'd been here.

"So you're embarrassed?" She asked me.

"I'm a boy at my age." I replied.

I then saw her stare into my eyes and I returned the favor understanding what she was doing, "…You've got a fire in those eyes now, an indomitable spirit guiding you. Let me see that right til the very end. I'm waiting on you to keep that promise."

"Yeah, I promise." I reply in kind.

"Then I'm not giving up either…" With that Momoyo ran off ahead of the group leaving me feeling a bit wistful, but it was then I felt stares into my back. I turned to see the Kazama family looking at me.

For one archer she'd kept her thoughts to herself, "Did something happen between those two? They seem even… Hah! Wait, did they… but from the way Momo-senpai's reacting… No, no that just means I have a chance, if she rejects him again there's still a chance!"

"Hey, Nagamasa did something happen between you two?" Yamato asks me. Damn it, this is one part I knew would come up.

"Nothing really, I just realized I need to kick things into high gear is all." I replied, Yamato had a confused look on his face, but this was the best I could do.

And so we continued on…

Class 2-F—

"Now let us have another fun period of studying the Heian era, no?" Maro was once again our teacher for the day.

As I thought on the future of my prospects going forward not only with my training, I'd have to redouble my study efforts. If I remember Ryou University's political economics program was well-known for those who later made it into well-known circles.

From the business, political and many other worlds the biggest movers and shakers were either alumni or affiliated with Ryou University at some point.

And in order to achieve that I'd have to reach S class for my senior year and even then getting either the position of Student Council President or VP could be a stepping stone to further receiving a recommendation.

I'm sure there are some teachers and those in Kawakami who had connections to Ryou which could recommend me, I'm sure of it.

None of this meant I had to give up being with the others, sure it would mean more time devoting myself individually, but to give up that part of me would be like starting over from scratch.

"Azai Nagamasa! You dare to not pay attention to me!? Then answer me this: Where was this elegant teacher before you born?!" Maro demanded an answer, but unlike before…

"Hiraizumi, it's considered one of Japan's greatest cultural sites in Oshu and across Sendai." I answered.

"Ho, ho, ho… correct. And an elegant answer, I see you have been paying attention." Maro seemed pleased. Best to keep the teachers here on my good side, any cracks and that chance goes down the drain.

Among the others though, "Hmm, I can't put it, but Nagamasa's different don't you think?" Gakuto pointed out.

"Yeah, he seems more… confident?" Moro replied but he wasn't sure.

"Hmm…" Capt silently mused as he thought on the topic as well.

July 2nd, 2009, Thursday

At school, I told Umeko-sensei about my future moves, "Oh, I see despite your short time here I'm surprised by your intentions. You wish to join Class S by your next year?"

"Yes, I know it may be sudden, but this is what I've decided to do." I replied.

"Hmm, well given your current grades and habits, I believe you could very well be on your way, but why do you wish to join them now?" She asked me.

"I have a promise I have to fulfil, like before I know it's a very sudden change but I have to do this. To achieve the dreams I have to fulfil that promise, I have to join S Class next year." I told her.

"Hmm…" she studied me, "I can see your will is unmoving. If you must know Ryou is my alma mater, you have my support. I too attended on a recommendation." Well that was one of the reasons I could trust her with this.

"I'll do whatever I can to support you." She said.

"Thank you again, Umeko-sensei." I gave her a bow from my seat.

"To be honest, I somehow always felt you had a higher ambition. When you first joined my class you seemed to be following wherever the wind took you, but now you have your own path to follow. Now had you said you wanted to go through Tuou University's law school program, then even your newfound resolve wouldn't be enough." She told me.

"That's why I gave this a few days to think on so I could make sure this is the one path I could secure for myself, plus I guess I am a bit lucky for the position that I'm in." I replied.

"Keep pressing that luck and you will go far. Don't forget that even a little luck is not a bad thing." Umeko-sensei smiled. "Oh and I don't suppose you know the best way to also gain a recommendation would be—"

"Run for the student council president position in the fall?" I told her.

With that we finished our counseling session as I left the hall, thinking to myself.

If I was to be just as serious in my schoolwork then I was in my training to even possibly get close to the position of Student Council President, I'd need to expand my school network.

"Good evening, Fushikawa-san." My gentlemanly greeting seemed to unnerve her a bit.

"Y-Yes?" She asked "What was that about?"

"Hello there… Azumi-san." Gods it's going to be hard to control myself with her.

"Hello there." She greeted me in her usual maid tone. "Wait, why the hell am I even showing you an ounce of respect for?"

There it is…

I always wished there weren't just 24 hours in a day or at least we had the ability to stay up longer without the need for sleep.

"Ah, hello Yaiba-senpai." I greeted the archery club captain.

"Oh hello, I bid you good day as well." She replied in her "Cool" voice.

Just a few feet away the other guys saw me; Gakuto pointed me out, "Geez, Nagamasa's a lot more driven don't you think?"

"Maybe something good happen to him recently? I mean he's been having a good spade of fights so maybe it's his training that's got him more active?" Moro wondered.

"Wanko called me last night, told me he was studyin' for hours last night after their training. He didn't head to bed until midnight." Kazama told them.

"But did you say that he later played with her and Nee-san before he went to sleep?" Yamato pondered.

"So Tactician, what do you think is up with our newest male member?" Kazama turned to Yamato.

"Well… the only thing I could think of like Moro said is that something's driving him to push himself forward. We'd have to figure that out, however… He and Nee-san seem a lot closer then usual… could he have? Everyone's been talking about love the last few days, but if he did…"

"Well if the guy's got something to shoot for…" Kazama started.

"It might be he fell in love, maybe he's doing this to show he loves them too." Moro added his own guess.

"Because he wants to beat someone—" Gakuto decided on.

"Hold up, we all said different things." Capt pointed out.

"Maybe… it's a combination of two. Maybe there's someone he has to beat, and he's fallen in love?" Yamato deduced.

"Well did any of the other girls say anything? Like Momo or Wanko?" Gakuto asked.

"Not really, Momo-senpai didn't answer and Wanko only told me about him studyin' and playing." Capt replied. "Maybe we should just ask him when we get the chance?"

"Yeah, we can ask him during the Friday Gathering tomorrow." Moro pointed out.

"Well if it's got anything to do with girls, then he might not say it in front of the others." Gakuto stated.

That night in my room at the Kawakami Temple—

After afternoon training, I was now spending the rest of my day studying away. But now with the date of our… "date" so close by I remembered I didn't know my way around this place!"

"It was in the moment, but I don't have any concrete plans…" It was then suddenly I heard my door open for some unexpected visitors.

"Hey! We're coming in whether you like it or not!" It was Capt!

"C-Capt, why are you all the way out here?" I was surprised he was here, why was he anyway?

"I too have come along after my own grueling training. The sweat still drips from my muscles." Agh, I want to gag.

"I'm here too." Well at least Moro's normal.

"Hope you don't mind the intrusion." I then heard Yamato's voice as he entered last.

"Okay, okay; what is going on here? There is way too much testosterone in this room right now." I said at the sudden gathering of the Kazama family men.

"We're here to see what's been nipping at you and got you down, why don't you let us here it?" Wait, what? Did they know somehow?

No, I didn't tell anyone the only people who know about my confession are Toshimaru and Momoyo, there's no way…

"You've been a lot more active recently. We got to know. Come on, we're all pals in here." Gakuto tried to convince me.

"You guys were… worried about me?" I tell them.

"Of course, you're one of us. We'll do anything to help you get through it if you'll let us." Moro offered.

"So what is? You can trust us to keep a secret, it's just us guys." Yamato told me.

"Thanks… I guess." It was nice they were willing to go this far to see me, but should I really tell them everything that's happened?

I decided I would tell them everything. Better to be honest, that's what I promised I'd do. At the end of the day they'd still just get more and more suspicious, and with Yamato he'd eventually pick it apart faster then the other three.

I sighed realizing I had no escape, "Fine… I'll tell you guys everything. Promise not to freak out?"

"Promise." They all said in unison, that was… freaky.

"Well, you see… I told Momoyo how I felt. That I… I love her. Not just as a friend, but as a woman." I confessed to them about my feelings for Momoyo.

The group had mixed reactions; Capt smiled, while Gakuto and Moro looked shocked; Yamato was neutral, but I'm certain it was affecting him.

"So… that's why I'm trying to improve myself." I told them further.

"Geez! I knew it had to be about a girl… and of all people you aim for Momo-senpai!?" Gakuto actually seemed impressed.

"After how you described the confession, I'm surprised you even had the balls to stop her from outright rejecting you." Moro complimented me.

"Then that explains all the weird feelings I've been getting the last few days." Capt said.

"So you… really do love her?" Yamato inquired of me.

"Yeah, this isn't just some spur of the moment thing. I really do love her, with all my heart. All over these last few weeks, I couldn't describe what it was, I thought it was simply rivalry that drove me to her, but as she and I were together, I could always feel… something about her. I realized then in my heart, that it was love. And I can't help but smile anytime I saw it: I love Momoyo Kawakami." I indeed smile genuinely as I repeat that.

"I see…" Yamato seems to accept it

"Do I have you guys' support then?" I ask them.

All four of the nod in agreement, I even see Yamato smiling, I suppose… he's accepted my feelings for her as genuine.

I'd always worried if he was jealous somehow or if he'd hate me if he found out.

"Well then if you guys want to help. Tell me all you guys know about Nanahama." I tell them.

"Eh? Did you already ask Momo-senpai on a date even though you guys aren't a thing?!" Gakuto looks shocked.

"It was a bit in the moment; besides it was my way to apologize for being so sudden on her. But please guys…" I bowed to them, "I need your help!"

"Actually, I think I know the perfect person for us to call for help!" Kazama pulled out his phone and put it on speaker and Gen was on the other end.

"What the hell are you calling me this late for, you idiot!?" Of course he'd be annoyed if it has anything to do with these guys dragging him along.

After explaining the situation to him Gen answered, "Alright, I think I got my head on this situation, tell me even though you guys are training together, how often do you text?"

"Well we text when we can, but you since we're either training or at school, it's hard to fit it in." I tell him.

"Hmm, that'd be good enough, but you need to be more forward. You got to pick it up and show her you're interested. Text her right now." He tells me.

"That makes sense, if she doesn't know your interested in her actively even if you do everything else it's not worth it." Yamato agrees.

I can do that, it's not that late and luckily she's out on a run so if she takes a break she might see it, 'Looking forward to Sunday. Hope the weather gods don't get upset."

And text sent…

"Well that's that." I told him.

"Alright, at the same time you should be calling her to if you get the chance. But make sure it's not excessive, any girl hates that kind of clinginess." Gen told us.

"Alright, thanks for the advice Tadakatsu." I thanked him.

"Hah… since you don't annoy me like those other guys, I'm willing to do this. Also just call me Gen, it's less annoying. See ya." Gen hung up.

"But still this is quite the thing, seeing you all love-drunk Nagamasa." Moro points out.

"I-I am not…" I deny it, but my smile refuses to leave my face.

"Guess that's what it feels like to be in love. But for now, I'll take after Gen-san!" Kazama declares.

"And now I'm worried." I confess.

"Well all we can do is wait for her reply." Moro says.

"She's out on a run right now, so if she takes a break soon she'll see it." I tell them.

And so five, well four guys stare at my cell phone waiting for the ding of a reply, while I returned to doing some of my studies knowing it wasn't healthy to stress over every minute.

"What'd you mail her about anyway?" Gakuto asks me.

"I told her I was looking forward to the trip towards Nanahama and hopefully the weather doesn't get bad." I told him. "I tossed in a few emojis for comedic effect."

"She's not replying." Kazama pointed out.

"And it's been nearly 15 minutes, how long does she go running?" Gakuto asks.

"Well she, Wanko and I usually run all the way to the ocean during our runs." The guys go wide-eyed at my telling of part of our training.

"You know seeing you all worked up and happy like this is a good look for you, and…" I heard the sound of a camera flash.

"Hey, don't picture me!" I protest.

"Well, I could just blackmail you with this later." Kazama casually confesses.

"I like that model." Gakuto agrees.

"You lot do know that you're in deep in this right? Besides, I've got work for you guys." I tell them, all of them looking at me.

"What is it?" Yamato asks.

"Since there's no school on Saturday, I want to scope out Nanahama for possible date spots." I tell them.

"So you want one of us to go with you?" Yamato asked.

"Huh!? Go all the way to Nanahama with you!?" Gakuto seemed upset.

"I want to seem like I know what I'm doing. If we just wander aimlessly we'll either get lost or she'll lose interest. Saturday's the best day to do just that." I tell them.

"That sounds sweet! I'd love to come with!" Kazama was excited at least.

"Well I'm sure as heck not going to Nanahama with a bunch of guys!" Gakuto protested.

"Is this stuff really going to help your date?" Moro asks.

But that's when my phone goes off, with the specific excited ringtone I'd had set for Momoyo, 'I'm leaving you in charge of escorting me around Nanahama. I can't wait to see where you'll take me."

"Nice! Send her something back! Tell her you've got it covered!" Kazama tells me.

"Is it really healthy to put all on that responsibility on him thought?" Moro says worriedly.

"I got it. But I have to admit texting her more like this is a lot of fun." I sent another text to Momoyo.

Then suddenly, "Hahaha! To have such supportive friends is a good sign, young Azai!" That laugh, I turned to my door to see it was Ageha once again!

"A-Ageha-san!? W-what're you doing here again!?" I ask.

"I was visiting once again and happen to unknowingly hear your conversation. I find it admirable that you are courting my great rival, and I wanted to first say; I approve!" Everyone was shocked by mt association with Ageha Kuki, the heiress of the Kuki Conglomerate.

"Ageha Kuki!? The Ageha Kuki who's one of the four Divas of Japan and could match Nee-san!? You know her!?" Yamato turns to me.

"N-No you idiot, she showed up one day at the temple and we had a spar, that's when I first met her." I answer him.

"It would seem my appearance has caused quite a disruption, but enough on that. I heard about your plans, and I am here to offer my services!" Huh!?

"Eh!? A-Ageha-san don't you have important work to be doing?!" I asked her.

"Normally so, but you see I have time off on Saturday of this week, so as you can also see I am free to assist you. I shall join you on your mock date to Nanahama!" Ageha said.

"Y-You want to help me?" I ask for clarification.

"Yes, as I said before I admire your courage to pursue Momoyo's heart. Like me, I fear for her sanity due to her unrelenting strength, but if she were to find a lover I believe that can tame her. To that end, I will help you however I can!" She replied.

"T-Thank you, Ageha-san!" I bow to her in thanks.

"Not at all young one! And if you'll let me say. Your eyes are shining more brightly then when last we saw each other. I can see you've found your true resolve and surpassed your limits?" She inquired.

I nodded, "Yes. I understand what you told me, not only did it help me unlock my true potential but also showed me how I have to be more honest with myself. So again, I thank you for that lesson."

"Not at all, now I must be going. I will see you at Kawakami Station on Saturday, don't be late! Hahaha!" And with the same hearty laugh as when she enters, she left with one too.

After she left the others helped me in finding places to go and visit; with Yamato's help and acquaintances he was able to recommend some spots in Nanahama by Kuma in our class specifically a restaurant in Chinatown that was in an alley but was well-known for it's food and reasonable prices.

"Well even if this goes good that doesn't mean you should stop there Nagamasa. Remember you can keep your crush on Momoyo on the down-low, but you've got a whole class of friends you can rely on." Kazama states.

"Yeah, and I can hook you up with some of my people to help you. Besides, a lot of them owe me big time so you can count on my support." Yamat tells me.

"Mm-hm. Use everyone to help you succeed." Moro encouraged.

"You guys… I'm gonna cry and that's not cool." I felt so happy to have so many friends. "I'm sure even the girls would be willing to help even in their own way too. Either way, I'll do everything I can to make sure she falls for me." I steel my resolve.

"Oh yeah, if you need to you can go to me and Suguru for the latest games and manga that's popular right now." Moro offered.

"I can help you guys find good outdoor spots. I've seen a ton of cool stuff on my jobs and trips, so I got that covered." Capt offered. "You can even go to Chikarin to ask her about all the girlie stuff."

"Kuma can help you on the food front, and Gakuto can cover… umm…" Moro seemed stumped.

"I know a lot of TV shows! Me and Momo-senpai are always talking about the latest episodes of the same shows we enjoy." Gakuto told me. "That should be able to give you guys something to talk about."

"Well it seems we got a lot covered already, so I think you'll be fine for now." Capt says.

"Yeah, so for now I can focus on my normal interactions and my studies won't be as tedious since I won't have to worry about the little things." I tell him.

With things like this I could feel like I could already see the light at the end of the cave. Alright, I'll do my best!

July 3rd, 2009, Friday

The Friday Gathering —

"…And so, that's why I'm aiming for Class S." I 'd just told the whole group my plans to join Class S next year, but of course I didn't mention that it was Momoyo who was my true reason for it.

"So you won't have as much time to play?" Wanko asked worryingly.

I pat her head to clam her down, "No, no doggie, I'll still be able to make the Friday meetings, that and we already train together, remember?"

Kazuko clapped for me, "Wow. Here's a round of applause!"

"I never thought you had such lofty goals Nagamasa-san, but I suppose that's just like you." Mayucchi said in support.

"You sound so cool, Naga." Wanko agreed.

"Well you even you train while were here relaxing, so you keep following your dream too you hear?" I tell Wanko.

"Yeah, you're right." Wanko replied.

"You have a splendid goal indeed Nagamasa. You have my full support!" Chris agreed too. "But why the sudden interest?"

"I once had a dream in America that is, but given my position here in Japan I had to change things up a bot. I never truly lost interest, but now I want to make it a reality" I say with a bit of resolve to the surprise of both Kazuko and Chris.

"What is that dream? Can you tell us?" Chris inquires.

"While it's quite a lofty goal, I want to help change this country. But first to do that, I need to be able to help shepherd things forward. First step, will be helping this city." I tell them.

"He's decided to help me with my Kawakami Revival Frontier Plan. It's always the duty of a mayor to help the city, right? So Nagamasa's been helping me fine tune things by helping me with my ideas." Yamato adds on.

"Those are quite the interesting hobbies to have." Chris replies.

"Well that's why I first have to get a career that helps me get the influence I need to help get things through in order to make those changes. I want to help this new home of mine, but sometimes that'll mean getting my hands a bit dirty, but it'll be worth it." I reply.

And from Kawakami to Kanto, and from Kanto to the entirety of Japan…

"I also have some other ideas, that's why I went to Ms. Umeko for advice, I've got her support on that front." I stated.

"Again you have my full support. Your cause is a righteous one even if it is to be filled with darkness and intrigue." Chris reiterates her support.

"Yes, I will as well, for both of you." Mayucchi replies.

"Okay! It's a match Nagamasa! Let's see who can achieve their dream first!" And there was typical Wanko.

"From the sound of it, the both of you are in a race for hell." Gakuto comments.

"If you insist, then I shall support you both. One as your common-law wife and the other a mistress." Miyako says. Okay this girl is just getting more and more freaky.

"Who the hell said anything about that?" Yamato replied.

"If one of you gets power first, can you see if there's a way you could donate some money to the temple every year?" Momoyo proffered.

"Doesn't the temple already get an influx of donations every year?" I point out.

"Make a fund for adventurers!" Capt demands.

"There's more to governing then handing out money! We call that cronyism and corruption where I come from." I rebuff him. "But making an ad campaign on topic could be in question and it'd be a lot cheaper."

"Recognize polygamous marriage!" Gakuto demands.

"Go to hell." I simply tell him.

"Yuck!" Kazuko makes her disgust well-known.

Chris went in low for a kick, "Something tells me he needs a kick in the behind." She follows through as she kicks Gakuto into the air.

"Air Combo – Somersault Kick!" Miyako finishes the combo as Gakuto lands hard on the floor.

"You should make regulations about the treatment of horses." Matsukaze 'demanded.'

"We already have animal cruelty laws on the books, what more do you want?" I ask them.

"How about a government building where you can eat for free?" Momoyo demanded,

"Or, if you want to focus on people's health maybe open up a free gym?" Wanko demanded.

"What if you made it legal for girls to sexually harass boys?" Miyako…

"That's just… I have no words to explain how I feel about that comment just now." I reply.

"Guys, stop asking us for stuff that's never going to happen." Yamato added on. "Though I wouldn't mind a hermit crab being the city's mascot."

"We are not putting a crustacean on the city flag. We'd be a laughing stock everywhere from Hokkaido to Kyushu." I chop his head.

After one last "dying wish" from Gakuto, we soon changed the topic to the festival being planned at the Temple in a few weeks.

And after a rather thorough explanation from Wanko almost as if she were an official spokesperson we learned that Kawakami was to be chosen as the spot to lead prayer services for various businesses that were involved in Japan's Safety Week from July 1st to the 7th.

"Nice, good job." Momoyo patted Wanko's head for her performance.

"The Kawakami Temple always impresses me. It must take quite a bit of work to set everything up." Chris says.

"They're borrowing me and Wanko to help set up everything tomorrow. Why'd the old man give YOU the day off, Nagamasa, huh!?" Momoyo turned her annoyance at me.

"Tesshin said they'd had plenty of help already besides as representatives of the Temple and the Kawakami family seeing you two hard at work will help keep everyone's spirits up." I told her.

"And it's part of our training!" Wanko added.

With that other girls decide to join and volunteer to help set up the festival. Well it helps me, while I'm out with Ageha-san, I have all the time in the world to scout Nanahama.

As I was thinking my eyes my Momoyo's.

"Heheh…" She smiled and seemed satisfied. Seeing that smile, I thought it was a sight I could stare at for the rest of my life. I really am head over heels for her, aren't I?

"…Ooh…" Miyako was sighing in defeat.

"Miyako, are you alright?" Moro checked on her.

"Yeah… I'm fine." She answered, but no one would be convinced, "It's hard to see one of the men I love be so lovestruck with another woman, but if I let it show I'd just be a third wheel that's getting in the way on purpose. I just need to keep and cool and wait for my chance…"

Miyako was back to smiling and Moro's concerns were washed away.

July 4th, 2009, Saturday

Alright! Today was the day for my mock date with Ageha-san at Nanahama. After getting ready and making myself look decent for the city, I headed for Kawakami Station as planned.

Arriving at the station, I saw Ageha was already waiting, and to my surprise, no butler with her. No Kojuro?

"Hahaha! It's great to see you Azai-san, I have not been here long. So, shall we head for Nanahama?" She seemed ready.

"Yeah, and thank you again for this, I'm in your debt." I thank her.

"Not at all, as I said I wish to help you in gaining Momoyo's heart for her own sake as well as yours. Taming her will repay any debt you would have either way." She replies.

We take the fifteen minute train ride to Nanahama, and unfortunately being out with the heiress to the Kuki fortune in public attracted attention. So while people were respectable in keeping their distance, I could feel people's stares.

I hope this doesn't affect her reputation at all. I know paparazzi would die for a tabloid photo of the perfect situation.

Finally we made it to Nanahama, and the sight of it compared to Kawakami was breathtaking; it was like comparing your local town and contrasting it with a large sprawling metropolis.

Laguna Mark Tower towered above us.

"I have a classmate who says his father works over there." I comment.

"Haha, then he must have very elite skills to work for such a company, perhaps he could be a good recruit…" And Ageha is still thinking about Kuki Corp. even now.

"So first up is to Chinatown, and it's already lunchtime. Did you already eat, Ageha-san?" I ask her.

"Not at all, in fact I usually eat lunch around this point. But as you say let us be off." And with that I walk alongside Ageha-san to Chinatown.

Seeing her like this Ageha-san really is stunning, more then a match for Momo-senpai… Damn it, what am I thinking? I like Momoyo, I like Momoyo…

"Hehe, we're you taken in by my stunning beauty for a moment?" It was as if she could read my mind. "If you must know your emotions are quite honest on your face. Of course, as you say you are an honest man."

Darn it…

But in all seriousness, comparing her to her high school look from years back as I remembered to how she is now… Her appearance is much sharper and her beauty more profound.

"Now, now remember Azai-san this is a date, you have to keep the mood going. Right, partner?" She says as she comes next to me almost trying to act like she's my real date.

"A-Ageha-san, people will…" I try to voice my concern.

"No, besides I do not really care what people think of me. I live my own life, while I may be the eldest of the Kuki family, I am still my own person. Who I associate with is my decision." She says before I can even finish.

We reach Chinatown together, "So where is this place your friend recommended?"

"Hmm, many of the roads here look the same… ah! It's this way!" I pointed down the street the restaurant was located on. With that however I made a point to memorize the two main roads into Chinatown to avoid getting lost in the future.

"Ah, here it is." I pointed out the shop.

"Ho, a back alley shop? This must be a very well known place to the locals if it located in a place like this." Ageha comments.

"It's a little before lunch so the place should be relatively empty." And to our luck it was. The food had quite a kick to it, but it was absolutely delicious. Ageha seemed to enjoy the spice, enjoying every morsel thrown our way. And the prices were reasonable as well.

Afterwards we paid for the meal and left, "I must say that was an interesting experience. To enjoy a delicacy such as duck's tongue. That's a real Chinese restaurant experience."

"Well I know it's the place to go to tommorow, but still to only make reservations for parties of four or more just sounds like a bit much." I say. Guess I'll have to hope the lunch rush isn't as bad or hopefully they aren't as busy.

"Then perhaps like us it would be best to make it before the lunch rush so that even if a crowd arrives you'll at least be seated." Ageha points out. "So what's next on the agenda?"

"Port Hill Park. It's a bit of a walk." I tell her.

"Oh, a hearty walk after a hearty meal is perfect to burn off some of that food. I approve. Oh, it seems there's a gift shop over here and it sells quite a few interesting items. Haha, a panda suit! Interesting." Even though she wasn't as boisterous as Momoyo, I must say that Ageha-san was just as spontaneous. Guess in the end this was good practice.

We eventually make the long walk up to the park, but all the while I could feel Ageha-san getting closer to me, she had her arm wrapped around mine. I know she wanted to make sure I treated this seriously, but my hear t can only take so much!

"This place has been used many times for TV dramas, I remember some of this scenery." Ageha states.

"For being such a beautiful tourist spot, it's very empty." I point out.

"Yes, but sometimes peace and quiet is just as great. Oh there seems to be a vnding machine over there, I remember peach juice was always Momoyo's favorite. You should get her some tomorrow." I do remember that, geez but that girl had an obsession for the stuff.

Just as Ageha and I were taking in the view we heard a voice behind us, "Hey, De Niro. Do you think that boy would look good in comfy shorts?"

I turn to see a young girl with orange/reddish hair as a small egg-like machine on her shoulder spoke, "For goodness sake Miyuu, your tastes never change."

Wait I know this girl! She's one of the sisters from that anime I watched, the one that had Ageha when she was younger!

Oh, the name is just on the tip of my tongue…!

"Haha, Miyuu as quirky as ever." Ageha greeted the young lady.

"Ah, Ageha-san, hello I didn't see you there. Who is this young… handsome man with you?" Miyuu asks.

"This is an acquaintance of mine, we were merely walking around Nanahama together. I had a day off so I decided to ask him to accompany me." Wow, to think Ageha could come up with a convicning story just like that is pretty good.

"So how are Yume and Shinra doing?" She asks Miyuu. That's there names!

"They're fine. But recently Ren and Onee-sama haven't been able to see each other in a while since she's always busy. But the others are doing fine!" She tells her.

"I see, it was good to see you again after so much time." She pats the young girl's head.

"Mm, it was good to seeyou as well Ageha-san. Have fun, I'll tell Onee-chan and Yume-chan that you're doing good!" And with the Miyuu and De Niro left.

For the rest of the day, Ageha and I looked around a lot more places in Nanahama, I had to say I enjoyed her company immensely.

Eventually as the sun set the both of us were seated on a bench in the park near the port waiting for the ferry, "I must say I learned a lot. Thank you for this Ageha-san."

"But of course, it was quite an enjoyable time as well. I haven't done something like that in ages. I must thank you as well for the experience. So you also plan to take the ferry as well?" She inquired.

"Yes, the SeaBus as it's called. Apparently it has night rides that allow you to see Nanahama's lights at night and Tokyo Bay as well. It'll also drop us off at Nanahama Station." I tell her.

"Ah, a romantic night ride that will help take you straight home, a nice finishing touch." She comments.

The SeaBus was beginning to return to port so we decided to hurry to make the line and find a decent seat. I wanted to see which side was best.

I took Ageha-san by the hand, and we enjoyed the ride. And I could see why Nanahama was the better sight, the bright lights were amazing from the sea and while Tokyo Bay wasn't bad the city lights at night had it beat.

Afterwards we returned to the station and headed back to Kawakami at the station we decided to part ways there for if Momoyo was at the Temple she'd get suspicious or she'd want to fight Ageha and we wanted to avoid that.

"Again thank you for taking your time out to do this Ageha-san." I thanked her and gave her a respectful bow.

"Again not at all, I enjoyed my time with you actually. I'm sure Momoyo will as well. I wish you luck tomorrow. Oh and Nagamasa…" She called out to me as I felt her grab my hand.

"Y-Yes?" This situation felt a little weird. Feeling her soft hand I couldn't help but focus on her.

"I meant what I said when I enjoyed my time with you… And even if just for a day, I wanted to thank you for helping me feel like a girl again." And it was then she kissed me!

She kissed me directly on the lips!

"A-Ageha-san is… kissing me!?"

It only lasted a few seconds, but I had to admit I couldn't help but melt for those few seconds. We separated as she had a smile on her face.

"Goodbye and thank you…" With that Ageha left and headed back for Kuki HQ leaving me once again in a frazzled state just as much as she'd left me unconscious after our spar.

Eventually I made it back to the Temple and after having some time to clear my head I chalked up her kiss to simply being caught up in the moment as she said she'd probably never head time to do such a thing like a date so in a way I helped her…

Ah well, I couldn't let that distract me. I'd laid down the groundwork and everything was going well.

I texted Momoyo, 'So ready for tomorrow! Can't wait!" And threw in a few smile emojis.

I checked the weather report… 'The Kanto region will be cloudy with a chance for occasional showers in the afternoon. In the morning, there will be a forty percent chance, and in the afternoon that will increase to over sixty percent.'

Why must Mother Nature be so cruel…!? Wait… I wasn't going to let this stop me! I always come prepared!

In my old life, whenever there was a chance for rain I always took it seriously since it could literally happen when the sun was still out or it could go from clear to rainy in a matter of minutes.

The ringtone for Momoyo rung as I checked it, 'The weather's looking choppy. Hope it's sunny.'

Even if the weather bums her out, I'll be there to help her smile again. You hear me mother nature!? You won't beat me!

And while I'd prefer it to be sunny all day, as I always say: It's better to be prepared!

July 5th, 2009, Sunday

As I woke up I looked out to see that the weather wasn't looking bad, but the gathering clouds weren't a great sight.

But since there was even the chance for rain, I decided to take a small bag I had with me and carry a spare umbrella I had for later, just in case.

For my first date with Momoyo I had to wear something that showed I was serious, but wasn;t being stiff. I remember Yamato going all out.

But would that really be completely necessary? Even so I decided to go with a similar appearance, but I cut out the tie and loosened a few buttons at the top, it maintained my look but I wouldn't look like I was in a monkey suit.

And after a quick trip to the bathroom to freshen up… No nose hairs sticking out, and after using some absorbent paper…

"Alright… done! I'm good." I was ready to head out. Just as I did I saw Toshimaru as se whistled at me.

"*Whistle* Look at you Mr. Fancy Pants… well if you had a tie on I would've told you to lose it. And while it ain't the best season for those clothes… I'd give you a solid B." She said.

"Thanks, Toshimaru." I told her.

"Like I said, I got your back always. Now go break a leg sport." With that I left, but just as I did I got a flood of texts from the guys most of them giving me words of encouragement.

Even though we lived in the same place, I still wanted to be early. I still wanted to show her I could be responsible as well.

Oh, I could feel my stomach turning. Was I really this nervous? But I guess my happiness canceled that all out as I grinned from ear to ear.

Time passed and the time to meet up had arrived. I still waited patiently I wasn't going to be the one who nagged someone over a few minutes.

"Oh there she is…!" I saw her approaching. She was wearing her usual squirrel shirt and jeans como.

"Yo, Nagamasa." She greeted me.

"Hey. Alright let's go have fun today." I replied.

And with that the two of us headed straight for Nanahama upon arriving Momoyo took in the sights, "This place is as pretty as ever. Do you see any cute girls around?"

I gave her a look that practically spoke out the word 'Really?' and she seemed to get the picture.

"Alright, alright; I'll back off this once." She patted my head. "So you'd better treat me right now. I'm hungry."

"Did you skip breakfast because we were going to Chinatown?" I asked.

"Yeah, but Kazuko convinced me to eat a little bit, saying it was the most important meal of the day. Guh… all this food talk is making me even hungrier."

"Then let's head to Chinatown, it'll be a bit of a walk but it's worth t I promise." I tell her.

"Oh, so you're showing me the way? Alright, lead on." And so I smoothly guided Chinatown.

"There's so many restaurants around here… how do we pick which one?" She seemed taken it by all the sights. "Oh, meat buns."

She noticed a meat bun stand, "Shark fin meat buns… That sounds tasty, right?" It seemed she really wanted one.

"Then how about we split one?" I offered as I paid for one.

"Oh, that's why I love people like you my little protégé, always answering my needs." Always better to be flexible, I thought.

I split the bun in half and handed the other to Momoyo, "Mmm… it's pretty good. But I think I prefer plain old meat buns more. Here I am saying that an I wolfed the thing down."

We made our way down the alley and made it to the restaurant and to our luck the place was like before relatively empty, "Here we are."

"Wow, I've never heard of this back alley place before." Momoyo looked around and seemed to enjoy the place. We found our seats lucky that the lunch rush hadn't arrived.

"Hmm, there's not many Japanese people here." Momoyo pointed out.

"Given its location and authentic food, I think mostly the locals come to eat here that and people who are curious to wander into here as well." I reply.

"So it's real Chinese food huh?" Her interest was piqued. "This is way better then those stuffy, formal places."

Seemed this place was a win in her books, I'd have to thank both Kuma and Yamato for this!

"So, what's good to order here?" She asked me.

"First, there's a ducks tongue…" I ordered man of the place's specialties.

"All the food here on the menu looks delicious." And when our food was brought out, "Hmm, t's a bit spicy but it's still good."

"Right?" I served noodles on both our plates. She smiled as she ate away. Seeing her smile like this made my heart jump.

"What's wrong? You've got to try these scallops they're amazing." She passed one to me.

"Is it?" I tried one and it's tender, melt in your mouth goodness really did catch me off guard.

"Heh, you're kinda cute." She told me.

"Me?" I replied.

"Yeah, I like a kid trying his best." She stated.

"Well I am younger than you." I told her.

"Yeah sure, but even now you seem more… different. Ever since you've gotten better as a warrior, you've truly been acting your age and it's done wonders for you." Momoyo said.

I know that was a compliment, but the fact it felt like I was still missing something just made me even more anxious, but still it was just something else I needed to overcome!

For me I didn't want to be some cute guy to her, I wanted her to think of me as a man; someone that can stand at her side as an equal. But back in the present I enjoyed lunch with Momoyo.

"Hold on a second." Momoyo then headed off to the bathroom. Using this chance I decided to check on my appearance with a small hand mirror I'd gotten from the dollar store a few days back.

After lunch, we strolled through Chinatown together enjoying the unique sights and looking a shops.

"Welcome! Come on in! Don't be shy!" A promoter of some kind was calling out to people.

"Oh, they're doing palm readings here." Momoyo pointed out.

"Yeah, do you want to try it?" I asked her.

"Yeah, from that sign they have they must be famous." She pointed at the ad at the front of the store.

"This is different, but let's do it." I agree.

"They say it'll reflect your way of life, so I've always wanted to try it out." And so Momoyo took a seat as the old lady began to read her palms.

"Wow, you're a pretty one. Maybe the prettiest I've ever seen walk in here." The old lady commented.

"Your expression is brimming with confidence and your presence fills the room. And those eyes… you do martial arts? Let me see your hand." And so she began feeling around the lines of Momoyo's palm.

"Right on the money. Here." Momoyo sits relaxed as the woman does her thing.

"Nevertheless, you have a powerful aura. Of all the gods and heroes of myth and legend. You remind me of… Satan."

"What does my palm tell you?" Momoyo inquired.

"Hmm… it seems a trial of yours to test the way of your life will occur in the fall." The old woman said.

"Hmm. Did you hear that Nagamasa? I've got a challenge coming up." Momoyo said while looking at me.

"And I also see love as well." The woman said. "Is that boy your lover… No, no he isn't."

"Nah, he's just a friend. More like… like…" Momoyo couldn't seem to get her word out. "Mmm… what?"

"Hooh?" The woman now seemed more interested. "It would seem I see good fortune then in your romantic affairs."

"Romance, huh?" Momoyo actually seemed to be in deep thought on the topic. I'd never seen her like this before. In the original she was always either hesitant or said she never understood it.

"What choices you make now will affect you for the rest of your life. And should you overcome those trials your life will be greatly fulfilled as a woman." The palm reader said.

"Hmm, do you know anything more about the whole fortune-in-love thing?" Momoyo asked.

"Yes, but details do require an extra fee." The lady told her.

"Haha… then let's keep it a mystery." Momoyo replied.

"Yes, you seem the type to think in such a way. And now you young man?" The old lady looked at me now.

"Go on, Nagamasa do it." Momoyo encouraged me.

Well she did, I might as well join her.

"Of all the gods and heroes of myth and legends, you remind me most of Minamoto…Yoritomo." The fortune teller said.

"The elder brother? I see…" I listened, I'd never done one of these before so I decided to listen.

"Hmm… Yes, yes your fortune shows that you will be successful in your ambitions. Your eyes to have a burning passion behind them, and you see clearly what your goal is… but you do have rigidness I can feel. So you should find a girlfriend and kiss her all day and night." The old lady said.

"Hahaha…" I lightly laughed.

"Hahah, that was hilarious." Momoyo joined in. "But I have to agree with her on the part about before."

After that we left the stall and headed up the mountain trail towards Port Hill Park. We could feel the wind flow freely as I watched Momoyo's hair flail lightly with it.

"With the July summer heat, even a short walk can feel a bit hot." Momoyo said.

"Then I'll get us some drinks." I headed over to the vending machine. Getting her a peach juice, I got me a tea to go along with it.

"Here you go." I handed her the peace juice.

"Mm, oh yes, I can never get over this stuff here." She sipped it down, "I've loved this tuff since I was small. My parents always sent me peaches when they were traveling so that's why I'm practically addicted to everything peaches. I mean how's a cute little girl supposed to resist a wonderful, sweet flavor?"

"Uh, no, no, no… Cute little girls don't crush aluminum cans with their bare hands." I disagreed on principle.

But as we were sitting there I noticed the weather was starting to get choppy, the wind picked up and…

"Ah, the view was good to…" And then, "Ah, it's raining now."

The rain began to pour, "It looks like more than a drizzle, but it's not a downpour. What do we do, Nagamasa?"

"Well good thing I'm always paranoid when it comes to rain." I pulled out my umbrella and luck may have it it's big enough for two.

"Good job, you always come prepared. Let's start heading back down into town." With that we head down the trail until we arrived back in Nanahama near its old shopping district as we walked side by side under the umbrella as the rain came down.

"We're sharing an umbrella." Momoyo pointed out.

"Why do you keep pointing that out?" I replied.

Meeting eyes with her surprisingly didn't make me nervous if anything I couldn't help but look back, still didn't help though I blushed every time I did.

I saw her smirk back at me, "What is it?"

"We're friends and training partners right?" She pointed out.

"Yes?" I replied again.

"So why're you blushing?" She teased.

"Well I do happen to be standing next to a beautiful girl right now." I replied heartily.

"Haha, of course you'd be dumb enough to reply like that." Momoyo laughed but seemed honest. "But still this place is pretty rich looking. If we ever come back you're buying me clothes and shoes from here."

"Oi, oi I don't grow money now. But still, alright." I agreed to her request.

"Ha, you look at you playing along." She comments.

"Well I just have to make it another goal don't I?" I replied.

"Can't you afford to buy clothes right now?" She picked at me.

"I suppose." I reply again.

"Heheh, that was just a joke, but… Everybody around us is giving us looks." As I looked around carefully I could once again see people looking at us. Some giggling, other gawking.

"Question: when they look at us, what do you think they see?" She inquired like a game show host.

"Can I answer without being interrupted by this time by the host?" I played along.

"You little… just answer." She sounded mad, but her smirk told otherwise.

"Lovers." I replied honestly, no hesitation.

"Someone's confident, and last I remember I didn't even confess back to you." She retorted.

"You can twist that knife, but you and I both know that's how people will think of it. That's just how they are. They see a young boy and a girl and think 'Young Love'." I answered.

"Hah, maybe you're a bit too brash and confident to be my boyfriend." She joked.

"Hah, I'm more brazen and brash then the Goddess of Martial Arts? I'm honored." I played along.

"Hah, at least you know how to punch back. That's what makes hanging out with you fun, you're honest with yourself." She says.

"Haha…" I lightly laugh.

"But you know, it's weird when I think about it…" She starts saying I look at her curiously, "This is our first time sharing an umbrella, in the rain… kind of like some scene in an anime or manga…if anything this is where the heroine and protagonist are having a profound moment together."

I blushed, how did this woman know how to push people's buttons?

"Snuggle time." She then pressed herself up against me, I could feel my face heat up even more but I stood my ground.

"I can hear your heart beating from here, it's going really fast." She replies.

"And I thought you were the one who didn't want people to see us as lovers?" I reiterated.

"For you a transfer student who suddenly comes into his second year of high school and confesses his love to he school's top girl. You struck a bit early, don't you think?" She tells me.

"No time like the present I say." I reply.

"And to swept up by my allure in just three months?"

"What can I say? I meant it when you were the one I loved. I wasn't lying then, and I'm not lying now." I say honestly.

"I can tell. You've never told me one before, but I do have to say you had some gall not letting me reject you." Momoyo remembers.

"Well I had to tell you another important thing, I couldn't say if you were talking about something else." I reply.

"It really is relaxing being with you… you know?" Momoyo said softly.

"Hmph?" I question her change in tone.

"I realize that now what you meant. You're right, if you want to win my love, show me that manliness I know you have. Like I said before, and always said… I'll be waiting for that day Nagamasa." She once again makes that promise.

"Yeah, I promise." I reply in kind. "I've always loved your honesty, but you're the embodiment of it so it should be expected."

"You think? If I wasn't anything else I wouldn't be me! I'll always be true to myself, so let me be honest again…" She then whispers in my war, "I'm having lots of fun, Nagamasa."

"Hehe, your welcome." I replied.

"You know for a while I've had some clouds over my heart for a while, but now there's a bit of sun poking through now." She told me.

"Momo-senpai…" She was always honest, a free spirit who did whatever came to her mind. Seeing her any different wasn't ever an option. I'd prove to her how manly I was and I'd keep the promise we'd made to each other.

And so we walked Nanahama a bit longer, even though the weather hadn't been friendly; all in all I thought the date was a huge success.

We eventually made it back to the Temple together, but the rain found it's way here to and so we headed inside and finally I got out of my clothes and into something lighter.

But just as I was about to relax and read; I heard a knock, "Nagamasa, it's me."

"Momo-senpai, what're you doing here?" I opened the door and let her in.

"Everybody's inside and I'd be bored in my room alone, so I'm going to hang out here." And she once again made herself comfortable in my room laying on the futon.

Now I'd have to entertain her again. But with my new knowledge we talked about a recent TV show she was watching, an action series that reminded me of Kamen Rider.

The show was just as colorful and action-packed as the real deal, much better then Power Rangers; I'm sorry, but it just is. Sorry America, Japan got you beat in that.

Eventually we laid out on the futon, and I found my head being cradled by none other than Momoyo.

"What are you doing?" I asked her looking her in the eyes.

"Treating you. You did something for me, this is my repayment." She began patting and rubbing my head.

After doing all that stuff today, I began to feel a bit sleepy and now her sweet scent started to waft it's way into my nostrils lulling me ever coser to sleep until… eventually…

"Zzzz…."

"Heheh, how innocent… so you really do love me huh? But Nagamasa… how can you love someone, who only knows fighting?" She said to herself. Once more she looked at her own fists, and then to Nagamasa in her lap.

A feeling began to come over her; she didn't know where the words came from but they came out regardless as memories of her poured, "If I could begin to be, half of what you think of me… I could do about anything, I could even learn how to love…"

Momoyo remembers back to when she'd first laid eyes on him during his opening duel with Wanko on his first day, sword drawn and ready…

Momoyo watching Nagamasa on his first day at Kawakami Temple struggling to keep up but not giving up…

"And when I see the way you act, wondering when I'm coming back… I could do about anything; I could even learn how to love… like you…"

She remembers all the times she teased him waking up in his futon in the morning; seeing his embarrassed look made her day and made her smile…

She remembers watching him and Kazuko heartily train as they face off against each other in the training grounds; his bladework becoming much smoother and sharper…

She remembers the times where she, Kazuko and Nagamasa all went and got lunch together and went shopping later…

"Love like you…"

She remembers all the times they shared lunch together; all the deserts, rice balls, and parts of his lunch they shared together…

"But I always thought I might be bad, now I'm… sure that it's true. Cause I think you're so good, and I'm nothing like you."

She remembers back to all her fights, her thirst for battle, her want for the fight to go on longer…

As she thought back she could see Nagamasa's face look… saddened.

"Look at you go, I just adore you, I wish that I knew… what makes you think I'm so special…"

However despite the sadness, his smile returned as he stared back honestly and moments later was praising her as she returned his smile…

But as he turned away now, it was her turn to feel conflicted, even though she prided on being honest; it was as if in that moment by the river she couldn't… as she looked at her own fists again…

"And if I could begin to do, something that does right by you… I would do about anything, I would even learn how to love…"

After Nagamasa achieves his victory against Margit, Momoyo can't help but feel a swell of pride, but also a bit of sadness something she can't explain…

"But when I see the way you look, shaken by how long it took, I could do about anything I could even learn how to love… like yyyooouu…"

And now it comes full circle to their date just today, the honesty in Nagamasa's eye, his words, his actions… he shined brighter and brighter with every day going by…

"To love me like you…"

And here she was now, admiring the young man; who for the first time she could admit to herself knowing he was asleep and couldn't hear her…

"Hey, Naga…? Is this… what love feels like?" She rubs his head for a while longer before she puts him into his futon as he peacefully heads to sleep. She gets up and leaves with a smile on her face.
