Paw Patrol X
New Recruits arc Episode thirteen: A Rare Case for Flare
The Paw Patrol were sitting down for breakfast when Snow realized one thing that confused her: The fact that Flare wasn't eating with them. She looked to Marshall to ask why, since he would most likely know why Flare wasn't up yet due to sharing a room with him. That, and being his big brother. "Hey Marshall, where's Flare? He's usually eating with us or the one cooking the food."
The others had notice that Flare wasn't up yet as well, and Marshall went on to explain why. "Today was a rare moment where I ended up waking up before Flare, so I thought it'd be best to let him sleep in." There was another detail however, that worried Marshall even more. "I also felt his forehead just to be sure, and I think he might be sick."
"Aw, poor thing." Skye chimed in with concern for Flare. She hated it whenever someone she cared about was sick. "Want me to make some of my mom's soup recipe for him?"
Marshall appreciated the offer, but was quick to decline it. Skye had no idea what dealing with sick Flare was like. "Thanks Skye, but you don't wanna deal with Flare when he's sick, trust me."
Skye was a little confused at first, but then she heard Flare shout from down the hallway "HEY!", and that made everyone flinch with surprise. Could that have really been Flare's voice? It sounded sickly, and when he arrived in the kitchen, he was shown to be much less energetic than usual, and seemingly much more irritable. He also showed clear signs of nausea, along with a runny nose and a dry cough. His voice was at least clear enough to hear though. "Is it just me, or did they decide to extend summer to October? (Sneezes) Either way I hate it. Someone turn the AC in here!"
Flare then sneezed into his arm again, and everyone showed concern for his condition. Chase was also quick to point out what he saw in this moment. "Let me guess. It's bound to be a long day whenever Flare gets sick."
"On point Chase." Marshall bluntly replied, and then Flare sneezed again as Marshall finished his words. "Though a part of me wishes it wasn't."
Fire blazed over the screen as moments from the season one were shown and rock music started playing and the one who was playing the guitar started singing Help The World. The first scene that was shown involved Flare watching Chase and Marshall in action during the fire. "There's a team of dogs who never back down from any danger." The scene then changed to Richie shooting at Charm's minions to disarm them, killing one who gets too close to a human. "Their mission is to help people, no matter how minor or major."
The scene then changed to Ryder standing tall as he leads some of the members through what looks like a forest they were sent to for a mission. "The leader Ryder takes these dogs in so they can help in any way they can." The scene then changed to Flare putting the daisy in his flower, just like he did in the third part of the pilot. "A means to prove yourself, or saving them from a bad life, it's all part of his plan!"
Chase comes on screen and is shown bragging proudly about himself as he arrested someone."Chase!" A two second riff played before showing Skye performing a triple backflip and barking to turn on her wings and fly up. "Skye!" A two second riff played before showing Zuma surfing and looking to see if the others were watching him. "Zuma!" A two second riff played before showing Rocky inventing some kind of defense weapon while paying the maximum attention to every detail. "Rocky!" A two second riff played before showing Snow snatching a gun from one of Charm's soldiers as soon as they aim it at her and aiming it back at theim. "Snow!"
A two second riff played before showing Marshall climbing up a ladder to save someone as he breathed to himself while trying desperately to keep his cool. "Marshall!"
"My, bro-ther!"
Flare was then shown to be training in the Paw Patrol lair as he blocked a robot's kicks and punches before kicking his head off. "I may not be a member but I'll be useful however I can!" The scene then changed to Flare holding Snow's paw as the two of them are seemingly running away from something dangerous. "Even if it's a side mission I'll help the world as long as I stand!" The scene then changed to Flare meeting Charm as the Golden Retriever walks over to him with a cold glare and menacing scowl, making Flare back away slowly. "The Paw Patrol is on a roll, no matter how badly the danger's swirled!"
The scene then changed to Flare standing with the Paw Patrol, as Marshall rubs Flare's head, Snow smiles to Flare, Rocky blushes when Zuma gives him a sly grin, Chase gives a wink to Skye, who giggles about the gesture, Richie puts his guns away and looks on with determination, and Ryder crosses his arms and gives a confident smile. "My brother is a member of their team now...(The riff continues for three seconds uninterrupted) and I'm always ready to (Flare gives a cheerful smile and gives a peace sign to the audience with his eyes closed and his eyes giving a teeth smile) help the world."
The riff continued for about five more seconds before slowing down and giving one final riff with the title Paw Patrol X being shown on screen with Paw Patrol in white and the X in red. As soon as the riff slowed down, Flare was shown hanging up a picture that showed exactly what everyone was doing before the song ended, revealing it to have been a group photo.
Flare was currently sitting on the couch as the rest of the pups sat nearby to see if he was okay with Marshall checking his temperature on the thermometer. After a few seconds of waiting, he took it out; as predicted, his temperature was very high. Flare's sneeze after he took it out wasn't making his brother's day look too bright either. He knew Flare wasn't gonna take this well. "Yep. Sorry buddy. Looks like you aren't going anywhere today."
"What!?" Flare exclaimed, having a specific plan that he couldn't cancel on. "But I promised Snow I'd help her find Everest and she's going to Dragon's Hamlet today to find one of the things she needs! (Sneezes) I can't leave her hanging there!"
"Hey, don't worry Flare. We can always postpone it for your health." Snow assured Flare, and then she showed him the gadget and reminded him of how he's already helped her. "Besides, you already got me the bluebird feathers I needed. (Flare sneezes as Snow smirks) Or was that not a part of 'helping' me?"
Flare saw Snow's point, but he didn't see that as a good excuse to stop, since it was before the promise was made. "It was, but I did that before I made the promise to you; it doesn't count." Snow scoffed, but couldn't help smiling. She always did love Flare's sweetness, ever since they met two months ago.
Marshall was a little hesitant to bring this up, but he knew he had to put Flare's health above everything else. Scratching his head, he nervously spoke up about what he had in mind the best he could. "I know you won't like this Flare, but we should go to the doctor (Flare flinches with fear) just to see what you've-"
Flare instantly got up, throwing the blanket off of him and getting in Marshall's face as he insisted that he not go to the doctor, which surprised everyone in the room. "You can (Sneezes into his arm mid sentance) shove Skye's helicopter blade up your butt before I go to the doctor!"
Flare quickly jumped off the couch and hid underneath it, leaving everyone stunned by this as Marshall and Snow looked underneath the couch with Snow asking about his reaction. "Oooo-kaaay. I'm gonna need some context."
Luckily for Snow, Flare was more than happy to elaborate. And he wasn't afraid to be blunt about it either. "Doctors give out shots to sick patients. I hate shots! That's why I avoid doctors, and hospitals in general, as much as I can." Zuma couldn't help but start snickering a bit, causing Flare to snap as the upper half of his body came out of the couch. "It's not funny!"
"Sowwy, sowwy!" Zuma laughed some more as she pointed out why she found Flare's situation so hilarious. "It's just that you're the last canine I'd expect to get all bwatty like this."
Zuma snickered a little more, leaving Flare to come out completely and cross his arms to insist that he didn't go. "Say whatever you want about this Zuma. I'm not going to some stupid doctor and that's final!"
Snow hoped she could be of good help, despite the fact that she'd never witnessed Flare like this before. "Maybe you should go Flare."
"No!" Flare snapped as he pushes Snow back, surprising her, but she quickly brushed it off and wiped her chest.
Flare didn't push Snow very hard, but it was still enough to make Marshall stand up to attempt to tell him off for it as the sick Dalmatian sneezes again. "Flare! That was uncalled for!"
"The doctor is uncalled for!" Flare snapped back, and then he started stamping his front paws on the ground as he kept arguing about not wanting to go to the doctor. "I'm not getting anywhere near those needles!"
Flare stopped stamping his paws and ran off, leaving Rocky to stop him as he tried to run past him with Marshall whispering to Skye, who was next to him after Flare ran off. "Skye. Go to mine and Flare's room and get Princess Chocolate from Flare's bed."
Skye nodded in response and ran off with Flare pounding his fists on the ground as Rocky tried to drag him to his truck outside. "I don't wanna go to the doctor! I don't wanna; I don't wanna; I don't wanna!" Flare, after sneezing again, then felt his stomach growl, alerting Rocky as Flare then smirked and ripped a loud and bassy...
BRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUP
Flare's spoiled cheese scented butt blast lasted for five seconds and hit Rocky with a green cloud that made him cough as he wafted it away. "Seriously!?"
As Flare tried to run off again, Marshall tried to stop Flare again, holding him back as he then made another one of his infamous puns that made the other pups nearby annoyed. "Flare; that's snot nice!"
"Marshall!"
Zuma started laughing as Flare continued to act out of line, which caught the annoyance of Chase, as he saw that Zuma was being too lazy to actually help stop Flare's temper tantrum. "We'd appreciate some help sorting him out Zuma."
"Fine, I'll help." Of course, Zuma's idea of help was... "Flawe, I know you're sick, but I don't wanna get up." ...only really enough to get a deadpan look from an annoyed Chase. He should've known Zuma would be too lazy to sort out a bratty kid. I mean, Flare wasn't normally like this, but still.
Flare managed to escape Marshall's grasp as Chase then stood in his way, making Flare stop as Chase gave him a stern stare and firm tone. Chase also made sure not to yell at Flare, since he knew that would only make things worse. "Listen to me Flare. I won't tolerate this behavior from anyone living at the Lookout, member or not; and Ryder's buying groceries, so I'm in charge right now. I want you to stop being a brat, and get into my car, so we can take you to the doctor, and have them diagnose you."
"And if I don't?"
"You won't like it; trust me."
Skye walked up to Marshall, having Princess Chocolate in one of her paws. She made sure not to use her mouth to avoid making Flare upset by any slobber that wasn't his. She then got a glimpse of Flare's bratty behavior once again. "Oh yeah!? (Sneezes) What are you gonna do, spank me!?"
Chase continued to lay the law down with Flare as Skye started to feel bad for Flare due to his sickness. "Poor Flare. (Looks at Marshall) Is he always like this when he's sick?"
"Sure has Skye. Believe it or not, it's been even worse before." Marshall informed Skye, but then he walked over to Flare and Chase, who were still arguing, and interrupted it by beaming as he spoke to Flare. "Flaaare! Look who I have for you!" Flare turned around saw Princess Chocolate in the paws of his grinning brother. He quickly took her and started hugging her, which led to him calming down as Marshall then made a compromise with Flare. "If you let us take you to the doctor, then you can take Princess Chocolate with you."
"And I want a Puppy meal." Flare demanded while hugging Princess Chocolate, wanting something to reward him facing potential needles.
"I'll consider a Puppy meal." Marshall assured Flare. Chase was hesitant in giving Flare what he wanted, but at least Marshall got him to listen.
Flare was currently in the waiting room of the animal hospital with Marshall, Chase, and Snow; with Snow having come because she wanted to bet here to support Flare. While there, Marshall, being Marshall, decided to show off that he finally learned some decent hospital puns to pass the time. "I sure hope they call Flare up soon. Otherwise they'll have to diagnose him with being sick of boredom." Marshall then snickered, despite the annoyed looks of Flare, Chase, and Snow. "Get it?"
"Oh my God, he learned hospital puns." Flare groaned in annoyance, more son than what was usually felt by Chase and Snow, or anyone really. Marshall just shrugged it off thankfully, knowing that Flare's usual sickness mood swings were why.
Snow was curious about how Princess Chocolate calmed Flare down so quickly, another reason she came along."If you don't mind me asking Flare, (Flare sneezes) why did you calm down so much after Marshall gave you your teddy bear?"
Flare looked to Snow with a surprised expression on his face. He didn't think she'd care about what he had to say about Princess Chocolate after pushing her. When he got ready to explain it, he gave an expression that showed sadness and loss. His face told Flare that this was for personal reasons. "Marshall told me stories about from when he was a toddler, how he was this super cool hero who did everything he could to protect Twin Flame Island from evil. He protected his family, and his home, leading the island's very own military unit! At least... until he died."
Snow put a paw on Flare's shoulder showing sympathy for his situation as Marshall and Chase were listening to him speak. "He died the day after I was born. Our older sister Margareth told me that he died smiling while holding me in his arms." Snow and was stunned to hear something that powerful coming from Flare. Marshall on the other hand, felt bad for Flare, since he never got to know dad. Flare then showed Princess Chocolate to Snow as he looked at her. "Princess Chocolate was the teddy bear he gave to me right before he died."
Snow started to see that Flare and Marshall had more reasons for wanting to be a hero than she thought. Obviously they did it because they loved helping people, but it was more than that. Marshall, the easier one to decipher, also wanted to be a hero because he wanted to be as brave as his dad, while also wanting to stop cracking under pressure, and joined the Paw Patrol so he could help people. Flare on the other hand, also wanted to be a hero because he wanted to build some kind of spiritual connection to his dad. One that he never got the chance to get. It really opened her eyes about both of them. She then looked to Chase to see if Marshall mentioned this. "Did Marshall tell you about this before he came to Adventure Bay?"
Chase nodded his head yes, and like Snow, he felt awful for what Flare and Marshall had to face. Flare then continued after sneezing, holding back his tears as he did. "When Ryder offered to train me to join the Paw Patrol, I saw an opportunity to not only see Marshall become the hero he wanted to be, but to also become a hero myself, and feel closer to dad." Flare then hugged Princess Chocolate tightly, smiling as he brought up a positive side to all of this. "Whenever I hold Princess Chocolate, I feel like dad is there right there, hugging me; watching me grow, as if he's still in my life." But he then frowned as he realized the grim reality behind it. "Even though he can't be."
Snow was about to comfort Flare, only for the receptionist to announce Flare's name. "Flare Munroe!"
Flare got up with Marshall as Snow joined them, wanting to talk about this sometime later. "Talk later?"
Flare nodded his head yes with Chase stopping Marshall to let him know he'd be leaving. "I love him Marshall, but I don't think I'm ready to see him freak out when getting close to syringes." Marshall laughed a bit, heading off to get some coffee as he threw his current cup in the trash. "I'm gonna head back to the cafe. I'll be back to pick you up."
"Just don't drink too much of that stuff in one day. You could get really bad gas from."
"Oh, I'm well aware. That's why I get the peanut butter flavor so Ryder will let me drink it at all."
Chase left the animal hospital with Marshal laughing as he went to catch up with Flare and Snow. He knew that Chase's after coffee session wasn't gonna be pleasent.
Flare, Marshall, and Snow were currently in the check up room as Flare waited anxiously for his diagnosis to come. He was still scared about the thought of getting a shot, and Marshall and Snow were beside him and making sure he felt better about it. Flare then hugged Princess Chocolate tightly, and Snow giggled when seeing it. She found it cute that Flare had a comfort toy. Katie then came into the room and started explaining the symptoms she got from Flare, but not before rubbing his head with a smile. "How's my brave little puppy doing?"
Flare laughed and gave a thumbs up before he ended up sneezing again, thankfully covering his nose just in time. Katie was informed of his fear of needles, and she knew it was important to encourage Flare to face said fear. She then got to the part where she told Flare his symptoms. "So from what I've gathered Flare, you're experiencing the following: A runny nose, constant sneezing compared to the normal ratio, high fever, fatigue, possible nausea, and possible headaches."
"You can blame Punshall for that last one." Flare joked playfully, and Marshall started laughing at the jab at his pun quipping habit with Snow snickering at it as Katie laughed a little herself.
"I'll keep that in mind." Katie responded jokingly, knowing Flare was just playing. She then got to telling him what he had come down with. "Anyway, your symptoms have led me and Cali to believe that you've come down with some dog version of the flu."
Flare and Marshall were confused by the mention of Cali, since they've never been to Katie's animal hospital before. "Who's Cali?"
Just then, Cali came into the room and meowed for Cali, who was quick to pull out a cat toy for her. "I'll be ready to feed you after this patient Cali. Keep yourself busy for the next few minutes, okay?" Cali nodded her head yes with Katie tossing her cat toy to the right, and allowing her to chase it. Katie then walked back over to Flare as the young Dalmatian sneezed again. As she did so, she also pulled out some kind of bottle that had some suppositories in it, catching everyone's attention. "These suppositories I put up here earlier are for lowering the fever someone might get from the flu, hence the name on the bottle. I recommend Flare takes one per day before bed until he gets better."
"Is that the pill you get sticked up your butt?" Flare asked nervously, hoping that this didn't feel the same as a shot.
"Yes." Katie answered as she handed Marshall the jar, making Flare flinch upon the response. It was pretty clear that he was worried about how that would feel.
The Paw Patrol Lookout was shown once again with Flare and Snow revealed to be talking about Flare's family in his and Marshall's room. "Luckily my mom doesn't mind talking about him, so I can still learn stuff about him whenever Marshall and I have our weekly calls with her."
"That's good. You deserve to know who he was." Snow then looked at the half eaten Puppy meal next to Flare's sneezing head, and as Flare sneezed again, she giggled a bit at the sight of it. "I still can't believe Marshall bothered to take you to PupDonalds after your tantrum today and you couldn't even finish it." She then pointed out that Flare's toy was a mage in a pink coat. "I also wanna know why you got the girl toy."
Flare chuckled nervously upon the mention of that. It was rare he'd ever be unable to finish eating something, or asked about his Puppy Meal toy. Just then, someone knocked on his bedroom door, and the two puppies heard Skye's voice. "Is Adventure Bay's resident bird speaking dog allowed in the room?"
Flare and Snow rolled their eyes while smiling as Flare assured Skye she could come in. "She sure is! Just be careful; I'm probably a biohazard! Whatever that means!"
Skye came into Flare's room and came in with some kind of chicken noodle soup on a tray that she covered to keep it from spilling. As she climbed the ladder, she handed it to Snow, who set it next to Flare as Skye spoke up. "Ryder needed Flare to help get some kid in town down from a roof, so I offered to look after you while he's gone."
"Thanks Skye." Flare replied before sneezing again, looking at the soup and feeling the bowl to find that it was still hot. "This soup looks good. I hope it has mushrooms in it."
Skye smiled as Snow then remembered she had to do something, taking her phone out as she explained what it was. "Oh, I just remembered I have to let Sunshine know we gotta reschedule the (Hops off of Flare's bed) search for sapphires around Dragon's Hamlet. (Runs to the door) BRB!"
Snow ran out of the room to avoid disturbing Flare, and as she left, Skye shifted her focus on cheering the sick and, as of now, bored, Flare up. Her motherly side was clearly showing, but not to an obnoxious degree, as she showed clear care for Flare getting better. "So how's the Paw Patrol's brave little boy after going to the vet?"
"Okay I guess." Flare admitted, still being bummed out that he and Snow couldn't go hunting for sapphires. "I'm still bummed out Snow and I couldn't go to Dragon's Hamlet today. You probably noticed that the next thing she needs is a sapphire."
Skye had a feeling she knew just what would cheer Flare up. After he sneezed again, she crawled over to him and spoke up in a playful tone. "I think I know what someone needs." Flare wasn't sure what Skye was getting at, but after making sure the soup bowl was covered tightly, Skye instantly started playing with Flare. "Raspberries!" Skye then started giving Flare raspberries, making the Dalmatian puppy laugh and feel much better about before. "There's that cheerful puppy we know and love. Tickle time!"
Skye then started tickling Flare, making him laugh some more just before the Dalmatian puppy let out another sneeze. Thankfully, like all the other times, he was able to cover his arm, but it certainly caught the two off guard. Luckily, the two instantly laughed together after that with Snow coming back in and taking notice to it. She couldn't help smiling as she climbed back up the ladder. There they were; her two best friends just having a good time. She knew Skye would've been the perfect pup after Marshall to tend to Flare. "Hope you guys aren't partying too hard without me!"
"Nah, just playing is all." Skye assured Snow as the Husky sat down on Flare's bed. She then sighed dreamily, having a decent idea as to what her ideal future was like. "I sure hope Chase and I can have kids one day. It'd be such great closure to have my own family. From my own genetics anyway; obviously you guys are still family to me." Flare and Snow nodded and smiled in understanding. Despite the occasional moods, like Flare's from this morning, they did have a decent idea of why some people had children.
Chase was then seen sitting in Flare's head while keeping him from getting off his bed as Skye and Snow kept his squirming legs from moving too much. During this time, Chase kept farting on Flare proudly, much to the dismay of the others, especially to Flare...
PHHHHHHHHHHT, PFFFFFFFFFFT, BRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAT, BLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRP, BRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUP
Flare's butt was then shown as Chase's eggy fumes continued to leave his vibrating butt and surround him and his friends, and Marshall shoved the suppository in, making Flare wince as it was shown going directly into the spot his butthole would be. Flare coughed a little more as Chase got off Flare's head and laughed while smiling proudly about his farts. He was glad Skye was okay with him farting around her too, despite everyone in the room besides him covering their noses and gagging, as confirmed by when he literally farted on her face. "Sorry Flare. (Whiffs his fart) Whoo! Marshall was right to warn me about drinking all that coffee."
Luckily, nothing serious occured from Chase's flatulence in Flare's face, other than Flare coughing a little more and a good chunk of the room being covered before Marshall opened a window. Luckily, Flare took it well and was glad that the suppository was over before giving Chase a smug grin after pulling Princess Chocolate out from inside his pillow.. "Just be lucky you didn't fart on Princess Chocolate."
The others laughed at Flare's comment as Marshall thanked them for the help. "Thanks for your help guys. It's never easy dealing with your sick younger brother."
"Not a problem." Chase assured Marshall as he left the room with Skye. "Goodnight Marshall. Get well soon Flare."
"Same here. Goodnight guys!" Skye exclaimed, and then she left the room with Chase as Skye mentioned what she said to Flare and Snow earlier. "I know Flare was a bit much today, but I still hope to have kids when I'm an adult."
As Chase added 'Puppies' to his list of things on the 'Perfect Life with Skye!' list, Snow was about to leave before Flare stopped her, wanting to get something off his chest. "Snow, before you leave?" Snow stopped and gave Flare her full attention, and she noticed the guilty look on his face. His ears were also lowered, which was normal for Dalmatians since they were floppy, but they were a little lower here. It was clear that he felt bad about how he treated her when refusing to see the doctor. "I'm sorry I pushed you this morning. During my tantrum."
Snow giggled a bit, not really caring about Flare pushing her as she walked up to him with a smile. "I don't care about that anymore. Besides, it wasn't even that hard of a push." Flare smiled upon hearing that and did his signature hi five with Snow, who then slid down the ladder as she left the room. "Night Flare! Night Marshall!"
"Goodnight!"
After saying goodnight to Snow in sync with Flare, Marshall decided to help Flare get ready for bed as he smiled to his younger brother. "Katie said you should be better in four days. You think you can handle getting suppositories until then?"
"Honestly? I'd rather take butt pills then have Chase blow some off right in my face." Flare responded, and as he and Marshall laughed, Flare sneezed again before hugging Princess Chocolate. "Let's just hope the other three times aren't as shocking."
"We can only hope buddy." Marshall tucked Flare in and took out his favorite story, much to his excitement as the elder brother opened up the book. "I think we left off in the dungeon battle." Flare nodded his head yes excitedly, and Marshall then started acting out the characters in the same way Rocky did for Zuma. "'I will emerge victorious!' Gage shouted proudly, and then he and his opponent got ready to battle..."
The next day, Flare and Marshall were in their room together with Snow as the three of them were talking about stuff they did before joining the Paw Patrol. Marshall was currently talking about something that he and Flare did to their sister once. "So then we took Margareth's basketball trophy and hid it from her, making her freak out for a solid hour!"
Snow started laughing after hearing that memory. She also found it interesting to know that Flare and Marshall had a sister who was a tomboy like her. "She must've been ticked when she heard what actually happened!"
"Nah, thankfully Margareth has a sense of humor and was cool with it." Marshall assured Snow, and then he snickered at what happened after that. "And then I made a pun about basketballs that went-"
"Please don't tell me."
Upon Snow's snarky request, Marshall bliged. Flare then remembered something he used to do back on Twin Flame Island. He explained what it was after sneezing again. "Ya know, I just remembered. Back on Twin Flame Island, I used to just start singing for no reason whenever I was happy. (Marshall and Snow look at Flare) I wonder why I stopped doing that."
Snow was quick to support Flare's singing and to tell him to do it again. She knew he was capable of getting anyone in the groove with it. "You should take it up again. You did a fantastic job singing to Zuma's guitar playing; maybe the others just hearing your voice will be nice."
Flare smiled and Marshall then chimed in, being on board with that idea. "Yeah, that'd be great. I always did like it whenever you sang for us, or for anyone else. Well... once you actually got good after those classes."
"Yeah, that'd be awesome!" Flare then sneezed again after his excited exclamation, making him laugh a bit as he commented on how he couldn't do it now. "After I get better anyway." Marshall and Snow laughed a bit as well with Flare being glad that he was hanging out with his two best friends while he was sick. He knew it couldn't have been easy considering how much of a demon he can be when sick.
Three days later, Chase and Skye were walking to the kitchen as Chase brought up what Marshall said about Flare. "Today's day five. You think Marshall was right about Flare being better by today?"
Just then, singing from Flare's voice was heard in the kitchen, much to the glee of Chase and Skye as the latter spoke up joyfully. "I think that answers your question."
Chase and Skye went into the kitchen as Flare was revealed to be singing something he was spitballing at while cooking in the kitchen. "And I tell that puppy flu to get lost and let me keep up my day! And if it ignores me I'll kick it out of Adventure Bay!"
The smell of Flare's breakfast was more than enough to convince Chase and Skye that Flare was better. That, and the sight of everyone else enjoying Flare's food. Hearing his singing was another plus, and Chase was more than ready to point it out when Flare served him and Skye after they sat down. "Not every day we get to hear your singing Flare." Chase chuckled a bit, having to admit that he missed Flare's singing. "Not gonna lie. I kinda missed it."
"I decided to go ahead and start singing frequently again, like I used to when I lived on Twin Flame Island!" Flare explained, and then he explained what the breakfast was as he then happily stated the purpose, and the foods on there. "Anyway, this right here is my 'I'm sorry you had to deal with Demon Sick Flare for four days straight' breakfast! It comes with bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, hashbrowns, and chocolate chip pancakes!"
Chase and Skye started digging in and loving the food, leaving Chase to sigh of relief as he commented on Flare's apology breakfast. "I would've still accepted it if the meal was bad, but this would be enough to make up for a year of sick Flare." Flare was glad to hear that as Chase burped and then commented on how he liked normal Flare more than sick Flare. "Still; I'd take happy Flare over sick Flare any day."
Flare giggled a bit with Marshall then reminding him of a specific event that he didn't wanna go to. "Don't forget Flare, we have to see Katie for your flu shot today now that you're better."
That made Flare flinch. It wasn't that he didn't like Katie; it was that he didn't like the idea of shots in general. "Aww; Marshall, why can't me being better be enough? We shouldn't leave it up to some stupid shot to decide."
"Sorry Flare. We just need to make extra sure that you're better, and then it'll be done." Marshall responded, and then Flare decided to use his best tactic. His please face.
"Can't I stay home instead?" Flare asked as he began his please face, and Rocky was then shown signalling Zuma to look away, which both of them did to avoid the wrath of please face Flare. "Pleeeeeeease? I promise I don't need it." Marshall got a look at Flare's please face with Flare even adding a puppy whine to it for added effect.
Marshall then laughed as he then assured Flare that this wasn't going to work. "Sorry Flare." Flare's face dropped when he saw that Marshall was immune to his please face. Of course, being Flare's older brother, he was used to Flare using this tactic to get something he wanted. It then turned into the same annoyed calling out everyone else had as Marshall then cracked another sick pun. "I can tell you right now your please face is snot gonna work on me."
"Marshall!"
As some of the other pups laughed at Marshall's pun, with Chase in particular wagging his finger to him, making him snicker, Flare decided to just smile, which I think is pretty obviously his neutral expression, and start eating his breakfast. At least he got to cook again, even if he had to brace himself for what would come later today.
Soft piano music started playing as the night sky was shown with the scene then descending to the cliff at the edge of the Paw Patrol lookout's standing as Flare walked over to it. Flare then sat down and looked at the stars as he thought about the pups in the Paw Patrol with a female voice singing Risks Worth Taking. He first thought about Snow. "This world has so much in it, that I have yet to see. And I have to be ready for how to act upon it, whatever it may be. (Flare starts thinking about Chase) I've made so many great friends, since I came to Adventure Bay. And when I start to help with missions, that will certainly be my day."
The song continued as Flare started to think about Rocky. "When things get good, and when they get bad, I hope they know that I have their back. There will be times where I make mistakes, but I'll work to get back on track. (Flare starts thinking about Zuma) There's no such thing as a chosen one, or any of that destiny stuff. I have to work to help this world, and that doesn't mean I get all buff."
Flare then started thinking about Skye as the song continued.
