Disclaimer: Here it is everyone; the season one finale of Paw Patrol X! Just a heads up that after I upload the last chapter relating to season one, I'll be putting the story on hiatus so I can finally get around to writing season two of my Spyro story, which I posted a sneak peak of last week. I hope ya'll found season one's content to be worth it, and stay tuned for season two.
Also, I don't own Paw Patrol.
Paw Patrol X
New Recruits arc Episode eighteen: Saving Everest: A Promise Worth Keeping! Part one
The Paw Patrol were in Skye's plane as they flew for Prison City to save Everest from Charm's clutches. While Skye was at the driver's seat with Ryder and Richie watching from the front window, Rocky and Zuma were eating some spicy food together and loving what they were getting into. Snow then playfully snarked a bit about what this food was going to do with them. "Don't expect me to clean the bathroom."
Flare was secretly hanging onto the back part of the plane as he made his way to the middle part of it. He had some suction cups to help him stick, and he made sure no one could see him, since he wasn't supposed to come onto this mission. He wasn't gonna break his promise to Snow, or miss the mission that would save a life. As he got to the middle of the plane, Marshall was shown looking out a window as he then spoke up about the mode of transportation while sitting next to Chase. "I should've known we'd be flying to the fortress. (Looks at Chase with a grin) The fact was in plane sight."
"Marshall!"
The rest of the team laughed at Marshall's pun with Marshall sitting down and laughing with them. He then showed his fear of flying as he gave Chase a fearful look. "But seriously. I hate this."
"We'll be there soon Marshall. Just don't think too hard about it." Chase assured Marshall, and Marshall nodded his head yes, while also being worried about how he'd do on the mission. He didn't want to let anyone down, especially Snow, since this was her sister we were talking about. Chase took notice to this, and with a genuine look of concern, he put a paw on Marshall's shoulder as he spoke up. "If there's any moment in this mission where you feel you can't handle it alone, let me know. I'll be right there to help you get past it the entire time."
Marshall looked at his paw with the stab wound and then looked at Chase with a determined smile. He was always grateful to have the support from the pup who within the span of three months, had become his best friend. "Thanks Chase." Chase nodded in response, and Flare, who had overheard the conversation, knew he had to stay out of sight to avoid making Marshall panic. The last thing he wanted to do was ruin Marshall's chances at staying on the team.
Fire blazed over the screen as moments from the season one were shown and rock music started playing and the one who was playing the guitar started singing Help The World. The first scene that was shown involved Flare watching Chase and Marshall in action during the fire. "There's a team of dogs who never back down from any danger." The scene then changed to Richie shooting at Charm's minions to disarm them, killing one who gets too close to a human. "Their mission is to help people, no matter how minor or major."
The scene then changed to Ryder standing tall as he leads some of the members through what looks like a forest they were sent to for a mission. "The leader Ryder takes these dogs in so they can help in any way they can." The scene then changed to Flare putting the daisy in his flower, just like he did in the third part of the pilot. "A means to prove yourself, or saving them from a bad life, it's all part of his plan!"
Chase comes on screen and is shown bragging proudly about himself as he arrested someone."Chase!" A two second riff played before showing Skye performing a triple backflip and barking to turn on her wings and fly up. "Skye!" A two second riff played before showing Zuma surfing and looking to see if the others were watching him. "Zuma!" A two second riff played before showing Rocky inventing some kind of defense weapon while paying the maximum attention to every detail. "Rocky!" A two second riff played before showing Snow snatching a gun from one of Charm's soldiers as soon as they aim it at her and aiming it back at theim. "Snow!"
A two second riff played before showing Marshall climbing up a ladder to save someone as he breathed to himself while trying desperately to keep his cool. "Marshall!"
"My, bro-ther!"
Flare was then shown to be training in the Paw Patrol lair as he blocked a robot's kicks and punches before kicking his head off. "I may not be a member but I'll be useful however I can!" The scene then changed to Flare holding Snow's paw as the two of them are seemingly running away from something dangerous. "Even if it's a side mission I'll help the world as long as I stand!" The scene then changed to Flare meeting Charm as the Golden Retriever walks over to him with a cold glare and menacing scowl, making Flare back away slowly. "The Paw Patrol is on a roll, no matter how badly the danger's swirled!"
The scene then changed to Flare standing with the Paw Patrol, as Marshall rubs Flare's head, Snow smiles to Flare, Rocky blushes when Zuma gives him a sly grin, Chase gives a wink to Skye, who giggles about the gesture, Richie puts his guns away and looks on with determination, and Ryder crosses his arms and gives a confident smile. "My brother is a member of their team now...(The riff continues for three seconds uninterrupted) and I'm always ready to (Flare gives a cheerful smile and gives a peace sign to the audience with his eyes closed and his eyes giving a teeth smile) help the world."
The riff continued for about five more seconds before slowing down and giving one final riff with the title Paw Patrol X being shown on screen with Paw Patrol in white and the X in red. As soon as the riff slowed down, Flare was shown hanging up a picture that showed exactly what everyone was doing before the song ended, revealing it to have been a group photo.
The team arrived at the fortress with Flare taking off the suction cups and instantly heading off before the plane door opened up. He quickly jumped over the ledge and ledge and grabbed on, making sure the team couldn't see him as they left the plane. Flare then realized that he just ditched his best chance at sneaking around this place from the walls. 'Wait. How do I get around now?' Flare then noticed that he was near the entrance and smiled before sliding down the wall. He quickly opened the door and avoided detection from the guards as he entered the fortress. 'Okay. Now what.'
Flare saw a cardboard box and whispered to himself as he climbed inside and got ready to sneak around. 'Video game knowledge, don't fail me now."
The Paw Patrol were getting ready to enter the fortress as Rocky scanned the outside of the building. Snow seemed to feel a little bad about something and told Zuma about it when he saw. "I just hope Flare's taking the situation well. I think everyone can tell how important helping me was."
"Flawe can be cwazy sometimes, but he's a weasonable dude." Zuma assured Snow, knowing that Flare couldn't stay mad at someone for long. "He'll get over it by the time we get back." Snow hoped Zuma was right about that. Little did they know of Flare's little plan though.
As Rocky was scanning the building however, an alarm went off from inside the building as a drone then came up and beeped loudly. Ryder was quick to alert the others. "Paw Patrol; hold your guard!" Everyone did as told, only for the part of the roof they were on to open up. It caught all of them off guard, and as they fell to the bottom, Skye barked for her wings and caught Snow. Ryder and Richie landed safely, and Chase barked to call his net down, catching himself, Marshall, Zuma and Rocky. When everyone was on the ground, Ryder spoke up. "Everyone okay?"
Just then, the lights came on and it was revealed that the team had landed in a battle arena. Charm then came down on a monitor and had a devilish grin on his face as he boasted about his plan to kill the Paw Patrol off. "Finally; I get to use my Paw Patrol death pit!" Dozens of soldiers then surrounded the pups from left to right with Charm being ecstatic to watch. "Make sure they bleed to death! I want to see them suffer!" Charm pounded his fist on the monitor to show that he was serious about how he wanted the Paw Patrol to go out. Nice... and slow.
Flare was sneaking around the fortress and managed to get to the break room, where two soldiers were napping. Flare saw the food and his stomach started to growl, which almost made one of the guards wake up, but Flare quickly shushed his tummy. "Come on tummy; it's too dangerous to be hungry." Flare then noticed that one of the guards had something that looked like a map in his back pocket. This made Flare confused, mainly because what he'd heard about Charm didn't make it seem like he'd hire someone so dense. "Did Charm test this guy's smarts?"
Flare snuck into the break room the best he could, but his stomach growled again, causing him to punch it. Thank God it wasn't gas. He then saw a donut and tried to get his mind off of it. He had a mission to do, and nothing was going to stop him. As two more guards were walking by, Flare heard their footsteps and was relieved they didn't hear him. He opened his box enough to grab the map from the guard's pocket, thinking to himself about how easy that was. 'That was easy!'
Flare's stomach then started to growl again, and he ate the donut in one bite to cover it up. This caused the guard next to him to wake up, but Flare thought quickly and used his please face to stop the guard from calling anyone else. He knew he couldn't whimper due to the other guard being there, but the guard was struggling enough with the face alone. He eventually nodded his head yes to avoid waking up his friend, and Flare smiled in response and then started sneaking off, causing the guard to question what just happened before falling back asleep.
Flare snickered quietly from his box while watching for some more guards roaming the halls. 'Works like a charm! Wait; was that a pun? I don't even know.' For a place so heavily guarded, Flare was intensely lucky to be able to steal the guard's map and get out of there in one piece. As he looked at the map, he looked for the prison cells and saw that they were on the top floor of the three the fortress had. 'Top floor. And the least amount of guards are on there according to the map. Weird move Charm. I guess everyone makes mistakes though.' Flare then snuck off to get to the top floor. As he did, he brainstormed ideas on how to get there and find Everest's cell without getting caught.
The Paw Patrol were all currently facing off against at least a hundred and fifty soldiers, all of whom were being taken out with varying levels of success. Ryder and Richie were of course, doing the best job and had taken out plenty of the soldiers, and Chase wasn't too far behind, having taken out a decent chunk of them himself. Zuma was doing better than before, but now he was barely able to handle two at once, at least without help from Rocky. He then looked in amazement at Snow taking out two herself without much trouble. This made him groan as he tried to do better.
Marshall was able to take one of the soldiers out, but then another one held a gun up to the back of his head, making him freeze. He looked back without turning his head and the soldier was quick to threaten him. "Swear your life to Charm or-"
Luckily, a bird shaped drone knocked the gun away, and it was revealed to be Skye, who caught it with a genki girl smile on her face. "Don't play with guns kids!" Skye dashed up to the guard and kicked him to the side with Marshall starting to breathe heavily at what just happened. Skye noticed and quickly went to comfort him, just as she noticed him looking at the mark on his paw. This made her curious, and she hoped it wouldn't hurt to ask about it. "What's that?"
"It's a reminder to never give up." Marshall explained as he looked at Skye, who stood up with him as he showed that he was still panicking inside about the attack. "It's not working as well as it used to though."
Skye put a paw on Marshall's shoulder and assured him that he would be okay. "Just think about how great Snow will feel after we save Everest. Thinking about the good parts of something bad can be a good way to help get through them." Marshall nodded and took that note of advice from Skye into account. He hoped it was as easy as she made it sound. Probably not, but then again, this job isn't easy in general.
Ryder snapped the neck of the last guard and knocked him out, leaving every guard in the room taken care of as he spoke up about what happened. "Charm must've predicted our rescue mission. We'll have to-"
As Ryder was talking to the others however, Marshall's phone got a nonfiction, which surprised everyone. This made Marshall chuckle nervously as he then apologized for the inconvenience. "Sorry Ryder. I swear I thought I put this thing on silent." Ryder laughed a bit at the interruption as Marshall then saw that he got a text from Flare that said 'Everest's cell is on the third floor!'. He gained an expression of horror and concern in his eyes and face as he called this fact out. "FLARE'S HERE TOO!?"
That surprised everyone. How did Flare get here without attending Skye's plane ride? Skye then giggled guiltily a bit as she then realized her mistake. "My bad. I guess I didn't turn on my trespasser alarm."
"You'd probably forget your goggles if they weren't attached to you." Rocky snarked in annoyance at Skye's error. Skye then gave another giggle in response to it, hoping it didn't cause too much trouble.
Charm was watching over the monitors and seemingly laughing at something as Trickery entered the room with a devilish grin. He was curious as to why his leader was laughing and brought in some Cheesy Alfredo Pasta for the both of them to eat. He set it down as he sat next to the laughing Golen Retriever. "You seem in a good mood Charm. What has your eye?"
"Look!" Charm pointed to the monitor that the moving box that Flare was using arrived at a staircase. It then started waiting there as Charm then snickered a bit at the sight of it. "That idiot didn't even consider that I might have security cameras in this fortress! And better yet, it's the brother of that Marshall brat who destroyed my monitor on that one island!" Charm laughed a bit more as he then explained why he hadn't caught him yet as the door opened and Flare snuck in undetected. "I only avoided calling it out because I wanted to see how far he'd make it."
Trickery was intrigued by this as well, and then Charm pointed out one of Flare's moves. "He even did a please face on one of my guards to steal his map. He hasn't even realized it's gone yet!" Charm then showed fury towards his soldier's incompetence as he then gave Trickery an order. "Side note: I want to see Michael in my torture room later."
"Understood." Trickery responded, and then he got to eating his pasta as he asked about what Charm wanted to do with Flare. "So tell me. What do you intend to do with the box bandit once you catch him?"
Charm watched as Flare was using his please face on another guard, who let him pass up the stairs before realizing what he just did. Charm then gave a cold and vicious look as he stated exactly what he wanted to happen to him. "I intend to bring him to my torture chamber."
Flare had arrived on the third floor and rushed around the corner, which is where the cells in the fortress were, and he started looking for Everest's. He wasn't entirely sure if he'd actually lost the guard he used his please face on, so he also had to look back every now and then to avoid detection. Just then, a voice caught his attention. "You okay kid?" The voice that caught Flare's attention was none other than the unicorn who Charm shoved the apple into. "Charm did this to my horn a couple months ago."
Flare was fascinated to see a unicorn, but he knew he had to help him before he gushed. "Want me to get it out?" The unicorn was capable of reading minds, and he went over to Flare as he saw that he was a pure, gentle creature with a good heart. "I know you don't know me, but I don't mind helping you. And Charm was stupid enough to keep guards off patrol up here today for some reason, so I have all the time in the world. Well, not really; I have a reason for being here, but still."
"I sense a pure light within you. Your words feel... genuine." The unicorn smiled as he kneeled down to Flare, making sure not to poke him as Flare then put his paws on the apple. He pulled hard, and the unicorn held in his shouting and painful noises as Flare got the apple out. After about ten seconds, Flare was able to get the apple off. It was a lot harder since it'd rotted, and was snapped shut on the unicorn's horn. The unicorn gagged at the sight of it, but then showed his gratitude towards Flare's help. "Thank you. My name is Armorin. What's yours?"
"I'm Flare." Flare happily responded, and then he remembered his mission and spoke to the unicorn about it. "So now that you're feeling better, do you know a Siberian Husky? About ten years old, and related to my friend Snow?"
Just then, Everest was shown rushing up to her cell bars after getting a look of surprise and looked in the direction of Flare. "You know my sister!?"
"Hi!" Flare was glad to see that his mission was a success and thanked the unicorn. "Thanks for the help."
"But I didn't do anything."
"Yeah, but I think you would've helped me anyway."
The unicorn was touched by those words of positivity as Flare then went over to Everest, who was clearly ecstatic to hear her sister's name again. "Is Snow okay!? Where did she go after Charm got me!? Did she come with you!?"
"She's doing awesome, she joined the Paw Patrol, and... kinda." Flare gained a bit of a sheepish look after that last question was answered, since he didn't have permission to come aboard. "I snuck onto Skye's plane to get here and help Snow break you out. I made this promise to help get you out, and... I really care about her, and I want her to be happy."
Everest smiled upon hearing that. He could tell Flare had been of good help to her sister, and that his words were true. "I can't lack any respect for someone who's this determined to keep a promise." Flare smiled in response as Everest then asked about his methods to get her out of the cell. "So what'd you bring to get me out of here?"
Flare then flinched before laughing nervously and scratching the back of his head as he admitted to his lack of an escape plan. "I didn't actually think that part through." Everest gave a disappointed look in response to that, but not before the door was heard being kicked open out of nowhere, causing the two of them to flinch before Flare spoke up after seeing that Everest's cell number was Cell 148. "Everest! My brother works with the Paw Patrol! (Trickery is shown running up to Flare) I can text him your-" Trickery then lightly kicked Flare tot he side, causing him to roll a bit before he sat up and shouted at Trickery "Hey! Rude!"
Trickery kneeled down to Flare with Everest growling at him as the Kishu grabbed Flare's shoulder and spoke gently to him. "You're going to make a fun playmate for Charm." Flare tried to fight back by punching Trickery in the face, only for Trickery to dodge and scold Flare. "Ah ah ah. That's no way to treat your elders." Flare now glared at Trickery with anger in his eyes. He wasn't about to become the puppet of the Paw Patrol's worst enemy.
Charm was waiting in his torture chamber setting up some kind of trap to put Flare into. Trickery then came in with Flare squirming as he tried to get out of the magical rope Trickery tied him up with. "Put me down! My brother's in the Paw Patrol; he could kill you both!"
Charm's cold gaze met Flare's eyes once he turned around and caused Flare's spine to shiver. He couldn't believe how much fear he felt upon seeing Charm's eyes. Especially since it looked as if the two of them were the same age. How were they so different? And his chilling voice made it all the more intimidating. "Is he the pathetic one who was born without a spine and by some miracle survived our first encounter?" Charm walked over to Flare and spoke to him in a calm voice with a smile on his face. "Tell me dear intruder. What's your name?"
Flare hesitated in telling Charm his name, only for Charm to grab his head and force him to speak up. "Flare!"
Charm then grinned devilishly as he looked to Trickery, who removed the rope from Flare. This allowed Charm to start beating on Flare, which began by kneeing him in the stomach. Flare was hit hard in the gut; and when Charm let go, he fell to his knees and held his stomach tightly. Charm then kicked him in the face and made him fall onto his back before stomping onto his chest as he then recalled Flare's face. Thankfully, there was no blood, since Charm didn't kick him too hard. "Ah, yes; I remember you. You were the one I almost shot in Dragon's Hamlet."
Flare could barely move due to the intense fear he was feeling, and Charm looked at Trickery to give him an order. "Keep the Paw Patrol busy. I have some plan execution to do."
"Yes my lord."
Trickery walked out of the room gracefully as Charm then picked Flare up by his chest and looked into his eyes with coldness and sadism. Flare had already gotten chills down his spine, but seeing Charm up this close and this evil, and under these circumstances, made it even harder to stop shivering in fear. As for Charm, he was simply having a field day. "Yes. I'm going to have fun with you." Charm then slammed Flare onto a giant square in the middle of the room, and that caused him to get trapped by some kind of metal bars. "And a lot of fun at that."
The Paw Patrol were currently looking for Flare in the hopes that they could save him before Charm could get to him. Marshall was especially nervous, and when Chase went to check on him, he jumped a bit when Chase put his paw on his shoulder. This caused Chase to get worried, as well as the others, but Marshall quickly apologized for it. "Sorry; sorry. Just, antsy is all."
"It's Flare, isn't it." Chase spoke up, and Marshall nodded his head yes nervously with Chase getting his fear completely. It wasn't a good feeling to see anyone you cared about in danger, especially not someone who was close, like a brother or a best friend. And both of those applied to Marshall. "We're gonna save him Marshall. I'll do everything in my power to see it through."
"We all will." Ryder assured Marshall as he walked up to him, kneeling down to the Dalmatian with a tender and warm smile. "We would never let anything happen to him."
Marshall felt a little more relieved to hear that. He was still scared for his life, but he was always glad to get support form his friends. "Thanks guys." Marshall then started to hope that they would discover where Flare was at this moment. "I just wish we knew where Flare was by now. We landed on the first floor, and that battle caused a big delay."
"Oh, I bet it did." Charm's voice echoed over the speakers, catching everyone off guard as Charm then revealed himself on a monitor with his signature evil grin and glare.
Richie was quick to speak up, refusing to let the evil Golden Retriever force their mission into a failure. "Give it up Charm! We won't let you hurt Flare! And we're going to save Everest!"
"Oh. I wouldn't bet on that." Charm then revealed Flare behind him, and Marshall's heart suddenly halted to an immediate stop upon seeing his squirming and hurt body in the trap. His younger brother was in that trap; completely defenseless and fearing for his life. And he didn't even know where he was. The fear was overwhelming him, so much so that he could barely breathe! He was starting to lose his vision, and was close to blacking out before Chase caught him in his arms. Charm found the situation to be humorous and let out a little laugh, which caused Chase to growl. "Looks like I struck some nerves."
"LET HIM GO CHARM!" Rocky shouted, walking over to the monitor to tell his younger brother off for what he was doing. He was furious by the fact that he was related to such a monster. "We're gonna save Flare anyway, even if we have to rip your head off to do it! Just save yourself the trouble and let him go, now!"
Charm couldn't help but laugh at the sight of his brother trying to be tough enough to face him. Rocky's rage was genuine, but Charm didn't care one bit about it. "You really were a try-hard, weren't you. But don't worry. Your shame will die as slowly as you will with it."
Charm pressed a button that caused a wall to rise; on one side, Chase, Marshall, Rocky, and Ryder were standing, and on the other, it was Zuma, Skye, Snow, and Richie. Charm's monitor was on Marshall's side as he then lamented at how that went. "Well not what I was hoping for, but at least I have a better chance at seeing one of you die."
Charm laughed maniacally as Marshall started to regain his vision with Chase checking to see if he was okay. "You okay buddy? I haven't seen it get THIS bad in a while."
Marshall nodded his head yes to reassure Chase with Charm then holding up the remote and having the camera follow him over to the tied up, squirming Flare. "I could kill your brother now and let you feel even worse about life. (Marshall becomes horrified) I won't though. I want you to fail at saving him first so his death brings more shame to you."
Flare took notice to what Charm was doing instantly and tried to tell the others the cell number. "Marshall! I know Everest's cell number; it's 14-"
Charm slammed Flare's head against the square he was trapped to hard enough to knock him out. The sight of it started to fill Marshall with anger and fear, and Chase tried to calm him down so he could think straight as Charm continued his taunt. "I'll give you until I defeat you in combat to save your brother. And if I win, I kill him; it's as simple as that." Charm gave a sadistic grin as he closed in on Marshall's eyes, which were seething with anger. "Good luck Mar-"
Marshall then punched the monitor, which caused it to break; it also caught Chase, Rocky, and Ryder off guard as Ryder then spoke up. "We won't let him do anything to Flare. We're gonna get both him, AND Everest, out of here. Hopefully the others have Everest's path figured out."
Rocky then started to remember the first two numbers Flare gave them about Everest's cell number and began to text them to Snow. "I'm gonna let Snow know about the number Flare tried to give us. (Sends the text and looks at Ryder) Maybe they can find the cell Everest is trapped in."
"Good call." Ryder responded, and then he saw Marshall looking at his paw with seething anger, which he tried to calm down by having him focus on the mission. "Let's get moving pups. We have two dogs to save now." Marshall walked with Chase, Rocky, and Ryder; and Chase could tell that Marshall was fearing for Flare's life. Marshall could barely think straight with Flare in danger, and he wasn't about to let him lose his life to anyone. Especially not Charm.
Snow, Skye, Zuma, and Richie were making their way to wherever they would end up on the side of the wall they got trapped on before. Snow was clearly on edge about the fact that now Flare, and Everest, two of the most important people in her life, had been captured by Charm. She also had a bit of anger aimed at Flare, since he snuck onto the mission despite her telling him he didn't have to come. "Stupid, adorable, idiot! All he had to do was listen to Marshall and he'd be fine. But noooo; he goes and gets himself captured to for (Gains a conflicted look)...me."
Skye was quick to comfort Snow, knowing that this was harder for her than anyone. She knew this was a rare feat for her, feeling conflicted about what was going on. She had to let her know that it was going to be okay. "We're gonna save them both Snow. We just have to-"
Just then, Snow got Rocky's text and took her phone out to look at it. She saw the numbers '14' and Rocky also mentioned that there was a third word Flare failed to mention. "Well at least Flare did something right today." Snow was still upset about what Flare did however, and put her phone away to vent some more. "Okay. This'll be easy. We just have to save Everest, and/or Flare, whoever we save first, and then I punch Flare in the face for-"
"Whoa; calm down girl." Zuma chimed in, knowing that Snow was in the need for some relaxing vibes right now. This was a somewhat rare instance of Zuma taking the time to calm someone down too. It was clear that like Marshall, his longtime teammates and friends mattered a great deal to him. " I agwee; what Flawe did was dumb, but this isn't the way to go about it. Take it fwom me; letting your angew blind you is never a good idea. Just focus on saving Flawe and Evewest for now. Then you can be as mad at Flawe as you want when we get back home."
Snow thought for a moment as Richie was shown to be scanning the place with one of his invisible drones. "Looks like most of Charm's soldiers aren't at this fortress. He must've planted the ones he did here because he thought they'd be enough to stop us." Richie didn't think that sounded like Charm however, and he then sensed the energy of a certain Kishu nearby. "It's Trickery! Hold your guard!"
Trickery then appeared before the quartet gracefully, and all four of them got into their battle positions with Richie taking his sword out of its handle. As Trickery made his entrance, he gazed at Richie, being the most excited to battle him. "Apologies. But I can't let you save the Husky." Trickery laughed devilishly as Richie got ready for whatever he had in store for him and the others. He knew he was the best chance the team had at beating Trickery, and he couldn't let himself get defeated; now now, not ever.
Flare was still trapped in Charm's torture room, and Charm was currently thinking of how he could make Flare suffer as he leaned on the square he was trapped on. He could barely wait for when he'd get to torture the Dalmatian in front of his friends and brother. It was pretty tempting to off him now. "Let's see. I can shoot you in the head, stab you to death, or force you to overdose." Charm then looked at Flare to see what he would prefer. "Which one do you like most?"
Flare simply blew a raspberry at Charm, who made him bite his own tongue by uppercutting his jaw. "Ow!"
Charm then pinned Flare's head against the square as he made it clear that he wasn't going to go easy on him. "Okay then. Anything slow and painful it is!" Charm looked directly into Flare's horrified eyes ad he made it crystal clear that he was in grave danger. "If you think they'll save you, you're sorely mistaken."
Charm punched Flare in the jaw, making Flare whimper upon impact as Charm then turned around with Flare speaking up. "You're wrong! Marshall and the rest of the Paw Patrol would never let you kill me! You just watch Charm; Ryder and Richie will make quick work out of you!"
Charm couldn't help but laugh at that claim as Flare saw hm cup his paws together in a menacing way. When Charm finished laughing after a few seconds, he gave a serious and cold glare to Flare, just as the guard who he wanted to see came in. "You wanted to see me Sir?" Charm turned to the guard and gave him a frightening glare, which made the guard jump. It was clear that this was the guard who Flare got the map from in the break room, and he was not happy about that. "Sir? (Starts backing away slowly) Um... Is everything okay?"
Charm instantly dashed at the guard without hesitation, making him start to run off before Charm grabbed his head and snapped his neck violently. This made Flare even more horrified, and Charm simply let the guard's body fall to the floor. He then walked back over to Flare as he calmly, with an evil smile, explained why he did that. "That's the one who stupidly gave you his map." Flare looked at the dead body outside of the room and was getting close to losing it. He could only hope he was right about Marshall and the others being able to save him in time.
To be continued.
Soft piano music started playing as the night sky was shown with the scene then descending to the cliff at the edge of the Paw Patrol lookout's standing as Flare walked over to it. Flare then sat down and looked at the stars as he thought about the pups in the Paw Patrol with a female voice singing Risks Worth Taking. He first thought about Snow. "This world has so much in it, that I have yet to see. And I have to be ready for how to act upon it, whatever it may be. (Flare starts thinking about Chase) I've made so many great friends, since I came to Adventure Bay. And when I start to help with missions, that will certainly be my day."
The song continued as Flare started to think about Rocky. "When things get good, and when they get bad, I hope they know that I have their back. There will be times where I make mistakes, but I'll work to get back on track. (Flare starts thinking about Zuma) There's no such thing as a chosen one, or any of that destiny stuff. I have to work to help this world, and that doesn't mean I get all buff."
Flare then started thinking about Skye as the song continued. "If I fall down, I'll just get right back up, and I'll prove to them that I'm a strong pup; and that I won't let the danger I face make me freeze and start shaking." Marshall then came up to Flare as the song continued and sat down next to him and rubbed his head. "And even if there are times when I struggle, I knooow..." "I still can't believe Charm killed one of his guards right in front of me without a second thought! That could've been ME if our positions were switched! Or my friends!"
Marshall then spoke up about his own side of things while being horrified about Flare's possibly looming fate. "I can't keep my head on straight for even five seconds! I should never have joined the Paw Patrol!"
Snow then spoke up about how she felt about the situation. "First Flare gets himself kidnapped, and now Trickery is ready to kill us! Come on Richie; don't let him win!"
Flare, Marshall, and Snow then finished the announcement as the title of the chapter was shown in all white with Flare on one end, and Marshall on the other. "Next time, Saving Everest: A Promise Worth Keeping! Part two! (Everest is shown looking outside the window of her cell as she then spots something) Whatever Charm has planned right now, we have to stop it!"
