New Recruits arc Episode nineteen: Saving Everest! A Promise Worth Keeping! Part two!

Richie was currently battling Trickery, who was shown to be evenly matched with him, as he was able to dodge Richie's sword swings, while Richie was also able to evade and block his punches and kicks. While this was going on, Snow was shown to still be worrying heavily about Flare with Skye noticing and trying to keep her thinking positive. "I doubt Marshall would let anything bad happen too Flare. We should focus on saving Everest for now, and then help save Flare if they need it."

Snow breathed in from her nose and out from her mouth, and found that she had no arguments towards that. "Yeah, that would help. Problem is we only have two digits to Everest's cell number. That's at least ten guesses and there's no guarantee Charm will give us time for ALL of them."

Richie grabbed one of Trickery's punches and threw him towards the wall before charging at him and aiming another kick at him. Trickery dodged and teleported behind Richie while taunting him. "Good idea, poor performance." Trickery then ducked under Richie's spin sword slash with Richie then hitting him with a backflip kick to the ceiling. Trickery jumped off and dove down at Richie, who blocked his dive kick with his sword as he then collided a punch with Trickery's spin kick.

Richie saw the others watching and called over to them as he dodged another Trickery punch. "Go find Everest! I can handle this!"

"Phew." Zuma started as he wiped his forehead, "Thank you!" and with that, the other three headed off with Richie blocking their path from Trickery to keep him from stopping them. "Finally I get to help with the mission."

The others ran up the steps to try and reach the top floor with Richie glaring at Trickery as he pointed his sword at him. "I can hold you off for as long as I have to Trickery! (Starts blocking Trickery's punches) I won't stop until you run out of stamina!" Trickery did like that challenge, and was more than open to accepting. Richie did have some extra stamina thanks to his demonic half. He just knew it would entertain him so. And with another kick, Richie ducked underneath him and gave a determined look towards him as he gave a devilish grin. It was clear to both of them that this battle wouldn't stop until it was over.

Fire blazed over the screen as moments from the season one were shown and rock music started playing and the one who was playing the guitar started singing Help The World. The first scene that was shown involved Flare watching Chase and Marshall in action during the fire. "There's a team of dogs who never back down from any danger." The scene then changed to Richie shooting at Charm's minions to disarm them, killing one who gets too close to a human. "Their mission is to help people, no matter how minor or major."

The scene then changed to Ryder standing tall as he leads some of the members through what looks like a forest they were sent to for a mission. "The leader Ryder takes these dogs in so they can help in any way they can." The scene then changed to Flare putting the daisy in his flower, just like he did in the third part of the pilot. "A means to prove yourself, or saving them from a bad life, it's all part of his plan!"

Chase comes on screen and is shown bragging proudly about himself as he arrested someone."Chase!" A two second riff played before showing Skye performing a triple backflip and barking to turn on her wings and fly up. "Skye!" A two second riff played before showing Zuma surfing and looking to see if the others were watching him. "Zuma!" A two second riff played before showing Rocky inventing some kind of defense weapon while paying the maximum attention to every detail. "Rocky!" A two second riff played before showing Snow snatching a gun from one of Charm's soldiers as soon as they aim it at her and aiming it back at theim. "Snow!"

A two second riff played before showing Marshall climbing up a ladder to save someone as he breathed to himself while trying desperately to keep his cool. "Marshall!"

"My, bro-ther!"

Flare was then shown to be training in the Paw Patrol lair as he blocked a robot's kicks and punches before kicking his head off. "I may not be a member but I'll be useful however I can!" The scene then changed to Flare holding Snow's paw as the two of them are seemingly running away from something dangerous. "Even if it's a side mission I'll help the world as long as I stand!" The scene then changed to Flare meeting Charm as the Golden Retriever walks over to him with a cold glare and menacing scowl, making Flare back away slowly. "The Paw Patrol is on a roll, no matter how badly the danger's swirled!"

The scene then changed to Flare standing with the Paw Patrol, as Marshall rubs Flare's head, Snow smiles to Flare, Rocky blushes when Zuma gives him a sly grin, Chase gives a wink to Skye, who giggles about the gesture, Richie puts his guns away and looks on with determination, and Ryder crosses his arms and gives a confident smile. "My brother is a member of their team now...(The riff continues for three seconds uninterrupted) and I'm always ready to (Flare gives a cheerful smile and gives a peace sign to the audience with his eyes closed and his eyes giving a teeth smile) help the world."

The riff continued for about five more seconds before slowing down and giving one final riff with the title Paw Patrol X being shown on screen with Paw Patrol in white and the X in red. As soon as the riff slowed down, Flare was shown hanging up a picture that showed exactly what everyone was doing before the song ended, revealing it to have been a group photo.

Charm was watching Marshall, Chase, Rocky, and Ryder on his laptop as Flare watched him from his trap. He couldn't figure out why Charm would wanna do so many bad things, let alone go through with them. I mean, murder? PTSD triggering? Genocide!? All the stuff he knew about him just seemed too unreal to be true! He didn't know if he'd get the answer he wanted, but he just had to ask. "Why are you like this!?" Charm had his attention caught by that and Flare elaborated a bit on what he meant. "Rocky isn't like this! Why are you so nasty compared to him!?"

Charm couldn't help but give an evil grin as he turned to Flare and showed just how little he was affected by anything he said. "I must've gotten it from our father. He was always blabbing about global takeover or something like that, and I always wanted to take a crack at it." Charm gave an evil laugh that sent chills down Flare's spine, but not before Charm gave a deadpan look and cold voice. "The only downside is that me having our father's genetics made our mother always suck up to Rocky."

Flare was clearly confused, and despite Charm being annoyed, he felt Flare could use a bit more context. "Those two were completely inseparable before I killed her." Flare was horrified to hear that Charm killed his own mother, and then Charm gave an evil grin as he cracked a joke about it. "And there goes the redemption arc! Whatever; anyone who thought I was getting one was naive anyway."

Flare then got angry as he called Charm out on the horrible thing he did to himself and to Rocky. "You killed your mother over his bond with your brother!?" Charm proudly nodded his head yes, showing that he felt no remorse for that, and Flare then glared at Charm as he insulted him. "You're a monster!"

Charm felt a little insulted by that; not because of what Flare meant, but because it wasn't at all accurate to what he actually was. He walked over to Flare calmly as he then looked into his eyes and prepared to give him the true experience of who he really was. Flare was obviously aware of Charm's sadistic nature, but despite what Charm was about to show him, Flare refused to show any more fear and glared directly into Charm's eyes. Charm simply put his paws behind his back and gave a cold, heartless expression as he sang his own song. "Monster? No. I am a devil."

After Charm said the name of his song, he simply walked back over to his laptop and looked at the monitors before he started singing to the beat of orchestral piano music with a menacing, but semi-fast paced beat. "I don't want anyone to understand me, and I don't want them to sympathize." Charm started pressing buttons on his laptop, which made a bunch of traps that started to cause Marshall's side of the search some trouble, and they all put themselves on alert from it. "I didn't start this because I was sad or anything, but simply because I want to rise."

Marshall started to feel his nerves drop when he saw the traps in plain sight, from the saws coming out of the walls to the flaming bars coming from the ground. "I crave power, I crave rule, and I bet that makes me sound like a fool." Chase tried to lift Marshall's confidence with Marshall sighing and deciding to brave through it, despite still showing fear, and went in with Chase after Ryder and Rocky went through. "I simply want all the glory, my mother never gave me, and instead gave to that Terrier mix puddle of drooooool!"

Flare was trying to keep up with Charm's song with Charm happily dancing to the next bit. "My parents, were so dumb, thinking that they had power over me! I made then, feel so sorry... their fear simply made me glee!" Charm then happily went closer to Flare, who was a little creeped out by his dancing. "My brother, was so weak, he couldn't, even see... He said I was a monster as well, but no." Charm then looked into Flare's eyes as he finished the first verse of his song. "I am a devil!" Charm then turned around and walked away from Flare, who was getting more and more scared by the minute.

Charm then started singing about the methods he used to kill his mother when he took the chance while also acting it out for Flare's torment.. "I took the closest knife I could, when we were in the kitchen, and I shoved it straight into my mom's neck. (Flare shakes his head and closes his eyes in horror) When she saw that it was me, she looked at me in horror, and all I did was give a brutal (Mimics a ground punch) peck!"

Charm then started signing about how he parted ways with Rocky. "And although, Rocky knew of my nature... he was shocked to see our me kill. And then he saw me with that knife... and get he could not shoot to kill. (Puts his paw on Flare's chest as he then mimicked Rocky holding a gun up to his head) I knew he was too pathetic... so I dared him to take the shot. But sadly, at least for him... the writer needed a (Mimics himself slapping the gun away from Rocky's paw) plot!"

Charm went back to dancing as he backed away from Flare and finished up his little song.

"And my parents, were so dumb, thinking that they had power over me! I made then, feel so sorry... their fear simply made me glee!" Charm saw Flare's look of enhanced fear and torment after his explanation on how he killed his parents. "My brother, was so weak, he couldn't, even see... He said I was a monster as well, but no." Charm then went over to Flare as he explained a bit more on what he meant. "I mean, let's be honest; they were just trying to get a grasp of sanity and a glimpse at my soul. Maybe I'll kill my dad soon to balance it out."

Charm then spun around a bit as he sang the last words of his song. "I am a deviiiiiiiiil!" Charm finished spinning and simply kneeled to his leg and gave a sadistic and heartless grin to Flare while holding out his fingers in his right paw in the shape of a gun. Flare was horrified after hearing that song with Charm mimic shooting him before laughing a bit. "And that's the story of how my mother died. Maybe next time I'll tell you how I captured that unicorn!" Charm laughed devilishly before going back to his laptop with Flare growling a bit, a rare feat for him indeed.

Charm clearly struck a variety of nerves with that song. Just then however, Charm took his phone out and gave someone a call. "Hey dad; thanks for picking up so quickly." Charm gave a look at his laptop as he then gave his father some instructions on what to do with a sinister grin on his face. "Second floor of my fortress in Prison City. Find Rocky with a Dalmatian, German Shepherd, and a teenage human. You won't regret messing with them."

Marshall, Chase, Rocky, and Ryder were still making their way to Charm's torture chamber Rocky took out a mini-drone and turned it on. "Go up to the top floor and look for the cell that has Everest in it. She's a Siberian Husky, and her cell number begins with 14. I think it's three numbers."

The drone left with Chase sensing increased fear and he looked to Marshall, who was getting even more and more horrified about the possible fate of Flare. Marshall was trying to think of anything to help calm him down, but all he could think about was Flare. His smile, his laugh, his energy, and... how Charm could take that away in a heartbeat. "What if he kills him as soon as we get there?"

Chase, Rocky, and Ryder looked at Marshall with Ryder speaking with confidence in their chances of saving Flare. "That won't happen Marshall. Charm loves playing with his enemies before he finishes them off, so it wouldn't make sense for him to take the swift way out."

"But what if he does, Ryder?" Marshall asked, and then he started to panic even harder about what could happen to Flare. "Charm could be holding a gun up to his head by the time we get in there, and as soon as we do, (Mimics someone shooting his head) blam! Flare's dead!" Marshall started looking at the ground with intense fear and anxiety while holding his arm tightly, leaving the three around him concerned for both his coping, and Flare's safety. "I'm supposed to protect Flare with everything I have. And I might end up having to tell my mom and sister that he died on a mission he wasn't even supposed to go on!"

Marshall was clearly dealing with a lot, and as Chase stepped over to him and put a paw on his shoulder for comfort, he finished his tangent. "If Flare died now... I wouldn't know what to do with myself."

Chase tried to keep Marshall's spirits up the best he could, and was quick to remind him that they were gonna do everything they could to save Flare. "That's not gonna happen to him Marshall. I promised I'd help protect him, and like what I think Flare's showing to Snow by sneaking onto the mission, When I say I'll do something, I mean I'll do it."

Marshall did believe those words, and then Rocky stepped in to help with that as he talked about the drone he just sent. "And I just sent a drone to look for Everest's cell. Now the others can find her if they got up to the third floor."

Marshall was about to speak up, only for someone to appear before them. This was a tall mixed Terrier Breed, who kicked through the window and landed right in front of them. When the others saw him, they felt a somewhat alarming presence. It held scary and dangerous fires, and the assassin's attire the dog was wearing wasn't to be scoffed at either. After a few seconds, the Mix looked at the quartet, who were all on their guard, including Marshall, who was trembling in fear. Rocky then gave a look of shock as he recognized who was standing before them. "Dad!?"

Everest was in her cell as she hummed some kind of soft and upbeat melody to herself while looking out her window. While she was doing this, Rocky's drone passed by Armorin's cell before arriving at Everest's window. She was surprised by this, but the drone then went over to her and scanned her, leading to her questioning. "Can I, help whoever sent you?" The drone beeped green and confirmed that it was Everest, leading it to show her the Paw Patrol logo on its top. This made Everest become ecstatic as she realized what just happened. "I knew that kid was telling the truth!"

Snow, Skye, and Zuma arrived at the third floor with Zuma speaking up to the cellmates once they got to the cells that started with 14. "Anyone see a Sibewian Husky who our fwiend Snow when fiwst moving in couldn't shut up about!?"

Snow gave a deadpan look to Zuma, who then gave a cheeky grin at his jab at her as Everest then showed the team her drone. "Does this drone tell you yes!?"

Snow became overwhelmed with joy when she heard Everest's voice and rushed over to her, looking into her cell and exclaiming her name. "Everest!" Skye and Zuma smiled as Snow started talking to Everest and walked over to her as she did. "You don't look like you've lost an ounce of yourself in here! Does that mean Charm went easy on you!?"

"Well... there was the occasional torture." Everest stated, but then she assured Snow that it was nothing she couldn't handle. "But let's save the reunion for after we get out of here. We can't waste a second with Charm running the place."

Snow nodded in understanding as she saw the electrical lock and pulled out a tazer to try and mess with it as Skye spoke up. "It's nice to finally meet you Everest. I hope you reunining with Snow is as hopeful as it looks so far."

"The feeling's mutual." Everest assured Skye, and then she saw Zuma and flirted with him a little bit, which he snickered towards a bit despite his romantic preferences. "Should've guessed that the team would have some pretty faces."

"I'm gay."

"Got it."

Snow was able to short circuit the lock and get Everest out safely, much to her relief as she wiped her forehead. Little did the four dogs in the room know that the drone was heading off to do other things.

Richie was still battling Trickery on the second floor as the two of them ended up battling their way to the door of the Fortress' training room. As the two continued to battle out there, Trickery jumped away from another one of Richie's sword swings as the human/demon hybrid started to enhance his demonic speed a bit. This intrigued Trickery, who was well aware of Richie's loathe for his demonic half. "Impeccable. I was hoping you'd know how to ignore your daddy's side."

Trickery chuckled devilishly before Richie dashed at him and kicked him to the wall, having just enough speed to do so as he then pinned him to the wall and held his sword up to his neck. "I could beat you without this form if I had more time. I'm only using this form now because I can't waste any more time with you." Trickery grabbed Richie's knee strike and headbutted him before throwing him to the side and slashing at his back. Trickery regained his balance quickly, but found his speed struggling a bit compared to before. "Don't expect this shortcut to be used often."

Richie dash kicked Trickery to the ground and then aimed a jumping and diving slash at him. Just as he was about to strike however, Trickery vanished with one of his cards and Richie's sword ended up getting stuck into the ground. Richie thought quickly however, and he took the gun out of his left pocket with his right hand and shot Trickery in the chest a total of four times after he teleported behind him. Trickery, knowing he couldn't continue with the fight, took out a card and smiled proudly at Richie. "For someone who dislikes fighting, you certainly are an expert at it."

Trickery teleported from the battle with Richie being disgusted by the fact that he was complimented by Charm's right hand. "As if I need praise from the likes of you!" Richie then rushed back to the stairs to get to the others in the hopes that they'd managed to find Everest's cell during his brawl with Trickery.

Charm was still watching the monitors to see how everyone would do as the drone Rocky sent out arrived into the torture room to look for Flare. The drone managed to hide from Charm and the drone he had set up in the room, making it's way to Flare, who noticed and got relieved. Flare tried to keep his mouth shut however, as he knew the slightest sound of hope would alert Charm. The drone took out a mini laser and sliced Flare's trap efficiently. He dropped down quietly, and gave a thumbs up to the drone before the drone met its demise.

The drone got zapped by Charm's drone spotting that Flare had gotten out, leading to Flare running as soon as Charm looked towards him and dashed at him. Flare saw a smoke bomb and made a break for it, only for Charm to pin him to the ground just as he arrived at the table it was on. Flare was able to grab onto the table leg, only for Charm to pin him down and stomp on his paw, making him wince and shout in pain. "Ow!" Charm then picked him up by the head and rubbed his tummy a bit.

Charm then took Flare's face up to his butt and shoved it in, making Flare shake his head no beforehand. Just then...

PFFFFFFFFFFT

...Charm hit Flare with a nasty green fart cloud from his vibrating butt, hitting him with a five second fart that engulfed Flare's nose and burnt his nostrils with the odor or spicy hot wings. Charm then sighed of relief as he wafted his gas into Flare's mouth, making him gag in disgust as Charm then got serious about tormenting him. "In all seriousness however, I'm getting tired of your presence you insufferable roach! I may as well prepare the first viewing for your friends now!" Flare was too scared to do anything but quiver in fear. He could only imagine what Charm had planned for him now.

Rocky's father was standing before Marshall, Chase, Rocky, and Ryder to see if he could stand a chance against the four of them at once. Even with Marshall's obvious fear and Rocky's obvious personal grief, he knew he would waste too much energy trying to fight all four of them. He decided to keep this brief and informed Rocky of his disappointment in him. "Such a shame Rocky. You could've been a valuable asset to our army."

"I wouldn't be in your army if my life depended on it!" Rocky shouted back, trying to keep himself from tearing up at the sight of his father. He was done with whatever he and Charm were up to and wanted everything they were working for to stop now. "Now get out of our way! I'm not dealing with you right now!"

Rocky's father chuckled devilishly, showing Charm's side quite clearly as Rocky then glared at him with Chase getting ready to get his gun as Charm's voice was then heard. "Ah ah aaah." Everyone looked around and saw Charm on the monitors having watched the whole thing, and Flare was now tied to a chair, leaving Marshall horrified at the sight of it when Charm grabbed Flare's head. "Say the name." Flare blew a raspberry at Charm, who punched Flare in the chest, causing him to cough for a bit. Marshall's eyes widened upon sight as Charm then held a knife to Flare's head. "Say. The. Name."

Flare glared into Charm's eyes, refusing to show any fear as he gave him what he wanted. "M...M-Marshall!"

Charm gave a devilish grin as he then slashed at Flare's right eye with his knife, and when he revealed this to Marshall, he was about ready to burst. Flare was now bleeding from his right eye, and had a scar from the knife slash. By some miracle, he could still see from both eyes. Charm could see this clearly, and everyone in the building could see what was going on. Marshall, Everest, Richie, all eight of the ones currently moving could see this horror. Charm then happily told Marshall that this was only the beginning. "This is just a quick preview. I plan to do much worse to him after you get here."

Charm then punched Flare in the stomach as Marshall begged him to stop when grabbing the monitor that was on his side. "NO! PLEASE; DON'T HURT HIM ANYMORE!" Marshall was on the verge of crying, and Charm looked to the monitor to see him desperate to make Flare stop. "Please! Let him go!"

Charm gave a sadistic look to Marshall as he grinned evilly and cackled at the sight of how he was making himself look. "You seriously think confirming that you're a pathetic, fear driven sad sack is going to help you!?" Marshall clenched his fist as Charm then said something that hit him right in the feels. "Let me ask you this Marshall. How is a coward like you supposed to be a hero, when you're so pathetic that you can't even protect your kin?"

Marshall gained a look of despair and crushed emotions upon those words. Charm was right; or so it seemed to him in that moment. He couldn't get it together when things got hard, and still couldn't stop himself from freaking out. And now, his own brother was in the clutches of the last canine anyone wanted to get near him. In his mind, Charm was right. He WAS pathetic. He saw no worth in himself, and the fact that he couldn't even save his brother further proved that to him. Charm then saw Trickery come in and gained even more glee from it. "Ah, Trickery! Perfect timing."

Charm looked at the monitor as he then looked at his father and chuckled devilishly in response to his presence. He saw the look of shock in his eyes and Charm was more than ready for whatever he had planned for him. "I see you wish to speak to me father. I'm more than open to discussion. Trickery can send you now." Charm nodded to Trickery, and with another card, Rocky and Charm's father appeared in the torture room. Charm then looked at the monitors to bid the Paw Patrol farewell for now. "Have fun watching your hopes and dreams fade away. Hero-wannabe scum."

The monitor set off with Marshall falling to his knees as Chase went to comfort him instantly, but Marshall didn't hear what he had so say. Even when Ryder and Rocky stepped in, all he could think about was how much of a failure he saw himself as. He couldn't handle pressure, he couldn't help his team; his friends no less, and now... he couldn't even protect his brother. Marshall's heart was hit like a dagger, the sharpest dagger you could find. And in that moment, Marshall could only do one thing to express how much he saw himself as a failure.

Cry.

Chase was about to comment on this, but a couple of seconds after Marshall started crying, he ran off without thinking, causing Chase to call out to him. "Marshall; wait!" But he didn't stop. Chase, Rocky, and Ryder simply watched as Marshall ran off, leaving them all to see just how much Marshall was going through right now. Chase had an idea, and he looked up to Ryder as he spoke about it to him. "I'm gonna go talk to him Ryder sir. I think he should know."

Ryder knew what Chase was talking about, and knew that if anyone could help Marshall, it was him. He smiled as he let him know that it was okay. "Make sure you word this exactly right."

Chase nodded in response before running off after Marshall, and Rocky was left concerned and confused. The latter was because he didn't exactly know what Chase and Ryder were talking about. "What exactly did you mean by 'he should know' Ryder?"

"Let's just say Chase had it pretty rough before I met him." Ryder suggested, and Rocky was fine with that, knowing that Ryder meant it should be Chase who tells him about his past. "Let's focus on Flare for now." Rocky and Ryder headed off in the hopes of getting to Flare before Charm could do anything worse to him.

Charm was currently speaking to his father, who was disgusted by the fact that he was planning to torture someone who was the same age as him. While his father was venting about this, Charm was tending to Trickery's wounds, and he seemed more gentle than with most. "We agreed to only hurt those who would get in the way of our plans Charm! Kids like this are people we should leave alone!" Flare spat on Charm's father's face, refusing to be looked down on. Despite his annoyance with Flare, he was insistent on him not being enough of a threat to hurt. "Still."

Charm whispered something to Trickery before he then spoke to his father before he could say anything about it. "Let me ask you something father. Can someone who starts off as a lackluster opponent eventually evolve into a threat one will regret not making incapable of fighting in the past?"

Charm's father was stumped by that, and had to admit that he could see where Charm was coming from. "I suppose it's not completely off the table."

As Charm walked over to his father, he showed quite the aggressive tone. "And if they know what we're capable of, surely they'll want to do SOMETHING of value to help the side they're on succeed."

Charm's father was about to protest, unsure if Flare could actually be of harm. "You're right about that, but even so-"

"Even so nothing!" Charm snapped, stepping closer to his father as he insisted that this was the right call. "If that blubbering mess of a member called Marshall has can join the Paw Patrol then there's no telling what Flare will grow into!" Charm glared at Flare, making it clear that he did intend to kill him when the time was right. "I'm only letting him live for now because I want his brother to be here for the final hours. Then maybe I'll get an even more messed up death from him."

Charm's father was furious, and was disgusted by the fact that his son was more violent and crazy than him. "Charm, free Flare, now! This isn't up for debate!"

Charm wasn't about to feed into his father's demand, and instead gave a smug grin as he took out his gun. "You're right. It's not up for debate." Just then, Trickery appeared behind Charm's father and instantly stabbed him in the back, making Flare whimper as he saw what was going on. The mix then fell to his knees with Charm holding a gun up to his head and glaring into his eyes with a vicious look to them. "It already went in my favor."

Charm's father tried to plead with him, not wanting to die before he could rule with him. "Please son! You already killed your mother and plan to kill your brother; you won't have any blood relatives left if you kill me!"

"You should've taken that into consideration before you showed compassion for this insufferable roach." Charm cocked his pistol and looked into his father's eyes as Trickery held his arms back tightly, making him look at his son in fear as Charm then made a decision he felt no regret for. "Say hi to Satan for me."

BLAM!

Flare was stunned! Charm had just shot his own father dead in the skull! Some of the blood even hit Flare, making him even more horrified. Charm then kicked his father down, and to Flare's horror, the Golden Retriever spat no his corpse. The amount of fear and anguish the Mix felt as he died was unreal. The only relief he felt was the fact that he died upon impact, so there was very little pain for him to feel before he passed on. Charm then glared at Flare, putting his gun away as he grinned devilishly and chuckled sadistically. Flare couldn't believe who he was dealing with. All he wanted now was to hug his brother again.

Marshall had already ran out onto a balcony in the fortress and was lucky enough to have arrived in a room where there were no guards present. He was still crying his eyes out as he looked over everything, and although he wasn't making any actual sounds, the tears rolling down his face were enough to indicate how worthless and hopeless he found himself. He'd spent the past three months panicking like there was no tomorrow and now he couldn't even bring himself to save his own brother. What kind of hero can't even try to protect the one who matters most to them?

Marshall then had flashbacks to every panic attack he had with the Paw Patrol. The first was the fire he had to take out for his first mission; he had almost lost his vision entirely and Flare had to bring him back to reality. The second was his first time taking out one of Charm's bases, where he gave himself that wound for a reminder of his bravery; he almost ran away from battle right before then. The third flashback was when Zuma had been captured, and the team went to save him; he once again had to rely on Flare to bring him back to help save their friend.

The fourth flashback was when Flare had gone missing with Snow in Dragon's Hamlet; it took Zuma's words of support to help him think straight and suggest they talk to Flare's dragon friend; Sunshine. The last flashback was that day, when he broke down after Charm's words struck his heart like a dagger. He felt worthless, and unable to defend anyone, even his own brother. The flashbacks ended after he ran off in tears, leading to him revealed to be crying silently. All he could think about was Flare's smile, and his laugh, and his very presence in the lives of everyone.

And his own cowardice would be his downfall.

Despite Marshall's thoughts about how all he did was let everyone down, and how he could never help anyone, the voice of his best friend caught his attention, and it surprised him quite a bit.

"Marshall?"

Marshall looked back and saw Chase looking at him from the balcony entrance, and he looked worried about Marshall, and determined to help him. He knew that he needed to let this out, and that talking to a friend would be the best way to do so. There was only one thing Marshall had on his mind in that moment. After every panic attack, after every moment of Marshall showing that he wasn't brave like Chase, after letting Charm's words get to him so easily... why would Chase want to help him?

To be continued.

Soft piano music started playing as the night sky was shown with the scene then descending to the cliff at the edge of the Paw Patrol lookout's standing as Flare walked over to it. Flare then sat down and looked at the stars as he thought about the pups in the Paw Patrol with a female voice singing Risks Worth Taking. He first thought about Snow. "This world has so much in it, that I have yet to see. And I have to be ready for how to act upon it, whatever it may be. (Flare starts thinking about Chase) I've made so many great friends, since I came to Adventure Bay. And when I start to help with missions, that will certainly be my day."

The song continued as Flare started to think about Rocky. "When things get good, and when they get bad, I hope they know that I have their back. There will be times where I make mistakes, but I'll work to get back on track. (Flare starts thinking about Zuma) There's no such thing as a chosen one, or any of that destiny stuff. I have to work to help this world, and that doesn't mean I get all buff."

Flare then started thinking about Skye as the song continued.
