Paw Patrol X

Saving Everest: A Promise Worth Keeping! Part three

Continuing from where the previous chapter left off, Chase had surprised Marshall by coming out onto the fortress balcony he was on in an attempt to comfort him. He couldn't believe that Chase still wanted to help him despite it being obvious on his end that he didn't have it. Chase saw it differently however. Marshall DID have it. He was just stressed about Flare being in danger and needed to be brought back. And he wasn't about to give up on him. Marshall was quick to apologize for his behavior. "Chase; I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm like this or why I can't help it."

Chase put his paw up to let Marshall know that he wanted to talk, which he understood as Chase spoke up. "You may not see it now, but you do have it Marshall." Chase walked over to Marshall and stood next to him on the balcony with the two looking at each other as Chase continued. "Right from the beginning, you've been doing everything you can to help us. Even when you got the closest to actually quitting the first time you got involved in Charm's tyranny, you fought back. That's not a coward. That's courage."

Marshall couldn't get behind what Chase was saying; not because he didn't respect Chase, but because he couldn't believe it. Even after that day, he was still struggling to keep his cool with pressure. "Then why can't I stop doing it?" Marshall looked over the balcony as he vented about how down he looked on himself. "I'm not like you Chase. I'm not some fearless leader who was born without problems." Chase was surprised to hear that with Marshall finishing his vent as the fact was made clear. "The fact that I can't even fight back to save my own brother proves that."

Chase laughed a bit at what Marshall was saying, which surprised Marshall. The next thing Chase said told Marshall that Chase wasn't laughing directly at him with the German Shepherd giving him a genuine smile. "Is THAT what you think?"

Marshall thought for a moment and then he shrugged. Now that he actually took a moment to think about it, he wasn't sure if fer was absent in anyone. "I don't know. You just seem so confident during missions. And in general. You talk big, and you have the skill to back it up. You have a girlfriend who loves you and stressed over giving you an amazing birthday the week after you started dating. You lead this team like it's nothing, and the only fear you have is letting everyone down." Chase saw Marshall starting to tear up again with Marshall finishing his statement as he looked at Chase. "You're everything I want to be. Confident, brave, and loyal. And I can only be the last one. Barely."

Before Marshall could start crying again, Chase spoke up while putting a paw on the Dalmatian's shoulder. "You could be all three if you could stop doubting yourself Marshall." Marshall wiped a tear from one of his eyes as Chase revealed something to Marshall that he'd never told anyone else before: His past. "Believe it or not, I wasn't always like this before I met Ryder." Chase and Marshal looked over the balcony as they continued to lean on it with their arms. "Ten years ago... I lived in a city that I'd rather not speak the name of. I was almost two when it started."

A flashback began with a car driving through a big city and a door opening on the sidewalk, revealing a baby German Shepherd on a lady's lap. The lady set Chase down on the sidewalk and closed the door, much to his horror as he watched the car drive off with Chase speaking over it. "I was left on the sidewalk by the owners I had, since my mom died after I was born, and my dad wasn't in the picture." Baby Chase looked around in fear as he avoided the people and made his way through the city. "It was the word day of my life. And it got harder from there."

The setting changed to night with baby Chase having just gotten himself a piece of a T bone steak that he was about to enjoy. "I was on the streets for a month, and could barely get by." As baby Chase was about to bite down however, he smelled something and looked into the alleyway to find a cold and lonely Belgian Sheepdog. She seemed to be lonely as well, so baby Chase decided to share some of his steak with her. "They say to look out for yourself, but..." As baby Chase shared his steak, the Belgian Sheepdog was surprised.

The Sheepdog then saw Chase's smile and smiled back, knowing that the gesture was from the goodness of his heart. "But I could never let someone else suffer." This act of chivalry led to the two of them cutting the steak in half, and both the baby dogs chowed down on the steak. "And I wasn't the only orphan in the city. Far from it." The flashback then changed to the date of Chase's second birthday, where he was shown to be scared of the people that were walking by. "I was way more skittish back then too. Sometimes even my own farts scared me. And with how gassy I was, that wasn't good."

Baby Chase then started crossing the road with the people failing to notice him with Chase talking over it. "One day, on my second birthday specifically, I was trying to cross the street..." Just then, Chase saw a truck coming by and got so scared that he couldn't run out of the way. "A truck was coming right for me, and I was too small to see. I was so scared that I could barely move!" Chase froze in fear while flinching at the sight of the truck, only for the truck to stop right before it hit him. Chase was confused, and then he looke up in awe. "That's when I met him."

Chase saw a six year old boy who had signaled the car to stop. "It was Ryder. Apparently he was attending college there." Ryder kneeled down to Chase and held his arms out to let him know that he was safe with him. Chase couldn't help but beam. Finally, the toddler had found someone who showed him genuine kindness. He jumped into his arms happily and started licking him. It was sudden, but Ryder was smiling and laughing. Chase had found someone he could trust; finally. "He took me in and let me live in his dorm. And then he bought a bunch of spray for my scent, since his roommate was allergic."

Chase and Ryder smiled at each other as Ryder took Chase to where he lived, and as the flashback ended, Chase was smiling widely with Marshall being incredibly touched by his story. "So... yeah. I didn't start out as the big hero you see me as today. I was a skittish, lonely German Shepherd who scared people away with his gas." Chase laughed a bit at the jab he took at his flatulence problem. "The fact that Ryder was able to find ways around it, AND help me use it for good things at times, was a miracle."

Marshall couldn't help but smile at what Chase was telling him. He felt more at peace knowing that Chase grew to be a hero as well, and that he found someone who cares about him. "It sounds like Ryder helped you a lot."

Chase kept himself from shedding a tear of joy in that moment, wiping his eye as he commented on what Marshall just said. "Ryder saved my life." Chase and Marshall looked over the balcony again as Chase spoke up about the present. "I never did figure out why Ryder adopted me that day. I was always worried I'd sound ungrateful if I asked." Marshall then looked at Chase, who looked back at him with a genuine, heartfelt smile. "But I DO know why he picked you."

Marshall wasn't sure what Chase meant, but luckily, Chase was more than ready to explain it. "Deep down inside, underneath all of your doubt, you're a courageous, loyal, and determined dog, who wants to help people the best he can, and has been working his butt off to make it happen." Marshall was incredibly touched by Chase's words as Chase then put his paw on Marshall's shoulder, and as he spoke, he put his other paw on his other shoulder. "You have everything it takes deep down to be the hero your dad was, including the desire to improve. You just need help in order to become the hero you wanna be. The hero you joined the Paw Patrol to become." Marshall's point of view was then shown with Chase's smile being all he could see as Chase then spoke some final words that spoke to him dearly.

"And no matter how hard things get, I'm never giving up on you."

Marshall felt his heart melt upon hearing those kind words from Chase. He was right. He had to stop doubting himself and prove that he could be a hero; not to everyone else, but to himself. His smile grew and his eyes started tearing up with tears of joy flowing from them. He couldn't find the words to find how grateful he was for this. When Chase offered their signature handshake, Marshall nodded his head no and surprised Chase when he went in for the hug. Chase smiled instantly when he did, and wrapped his arms around him as Marshall showed his gratitude.

Marshall, after getting that talk from Chase, was more ready than ever to save Flare and Everest. And nothing was going to stop him. Just then, Chase's pup-phone rang and he picked it up to find that Ryder was calling him, supposedly to inform him that they found the room Flare was trapped in. Chase looked at Marshall, who wiped the tears of joy from his eyes and gave a determined smile to Chase as the phone ringed. Chase smiled back, and did his signature handshake with Marshall with his right paw, and he answered his phone iwth his left.

Meanwhile, Richie had reunited with Snow, Skye, and Zuma, along with the now rescued Everest, who was filling out some kind of form for him. He was glad to see her filling it out, and that she could go into two leg mode as well so she could do it while moving. "I know there are more important things at stake right now, but Ryder should be able to track down Flare no problem. And I think he'll be glad to have you as a recruit."

Everest was a little reluctant to fill this out, but she decided that it would be good for Snow, since it meant she would get to live with her again. "As long as Snow and I can stay with you guys, I'll do everything I can to help the Paw Patrol out."

Richie took note of that as he then got a call from Ryder, and it was the same call Chase got, revealing it to be a group call. Richie answered the call, and luckily for him, Chase answered just seconds after with Ryder speaking up. "Richie! Chase! We found Charm's torture room and we're gonna head in now to save Flare!"

"That's perfect! We'll be right there!" Richie responded, and Ryder then sent him and Chase the coordinates, finding that the torture room was in the middle of the second floor. It also looked as if it was closer to where Chase and Marshall were. "Chase; it looks like you and Marshall are closer to where you need to go. Go as fast as you can and save Flare."

"You got it Richie!" Chase responded, and then he assured Ryder that he would be quick. "Ryder sir, we're on our way!"

"We all will." Richie assured the others, and then Ryder ended the call so he could focus on saving Flare. Everest saw Snow's determination to save Flare in her expression alone. It was full of bravery and lacked any intention of turning back. She couldn't help but smile at her younger sister. She'd really grown a lot since they last met. It's just too bad she had to miss that.

Charm was currently eating a spicy hot wing as Ryder then kicked his door open, leaving Charm unfazed as Flare was relieved at the sight of Ryder and Rocky. "Ryder! Rocky!"

Charm aimed a gun up to Flare's head, forcing Ryder and Rocky to stay still as Charm gazed at them. He was disappointed in the fact that Marshall wasn't there yet, but he could manage. "I suppose you'll do for early guests." Ryder knew convincing Charm was impossible, so he pressed a button on his belt and caused a bullet to fly out of it, shooting the gun Charm had in his paw and making it fly through the air. This surprised Charm a bit, but then he smirked as he glared at Ryder. "So you're still not all talk it seems."

Ryder nodded to Rocky, charging at Charm with Charm fighting back instantly and managing to dodge Ryder's punch. Ryder blocked his knee strike however, and he'd managed to throw him back, only for Charm to regain his balance when landing on the wall. He instantly dove down to Ryder as Rocky was freeing Flare, aiming a slash at him with Ryder grabbing the knife. Charm then kicked Ryder in the face, causing him to let go of the knife and fall back, but he then took a knife out himself and clashed with Charm's multiple times before slashing at his cheek.

Charm got sliced on the left ear the very tip of it fell off, leaving Charm to dodge Ryder's second slice and knock his knife back. He then kicked Ryder to the side as he took out a bandage and quickly wrapped it around his ear with Rocky almost having Charm out. It appeared that Charm tied Flare up in multiple areas, mostly his paws, but also his waist, so Rocky had a lot to work with. He could just use his knife, but he knew that Charm would use that to cause Flare more harm.

Just then, Chase and Marshall arrived and saw what was happening, leaving Rocky to free Flare right then and there. Marshall was relieved and ecstatic as he ran over to Flare, who was equally excited as he heard his voice. "Flare!"

"Marshall!" Flare instantly got up with him and his brother hugging, and Flare then gained a look of regret as Marshall kneeled down to him and checked his injuries. "I'm, sorry about the whole, me sneaking onto the mission thing."

"Don't worry about that right now." Marshall assured Flare as he rubbed his younger brother's head. He was just glad to have him back. "We can talk about this when we get back to the lookout. For now, we gotta get out of here."

Flare nodded in response, and Ryder was shown to still be battling Charm, being able to hold his own against him, but Charm wasn't letting up. He ducked underneath Ryder's roundhouse kick and low swept him, only for Ryder to regain his balance instantly and aim a spin kick at Charm. The kick was blocked, but Ryder used his other foot to kick Charm again, which Charm barely had enough time to block. Charm then caught a bullet that was fired from behind, and it was revealed that Chase was the one holding the gun as he glared at Charm furiously.

Charm knew he would have less of a chance at winning if he faced Ryder and Charm at once, so he grabbed Ryder's feet just as he was grabbing for his gun and slammed him to the ground. Ryder was able to recover quickly however, and he low swept Charm, who regained his balance as Chase then shot at him again. Charm gracefully dodged all of the bullets Chase fired at him and grabbed his punch, leaving Ryder to launch a throwing knife at him from one of his gloves, which he quickly caught.

Chase knocked the knife out of Charm's paw and attempted to head-butt him, only for Charm to duck just in time and punch him in the gut. Chase felt the pain, but he instantly retorted by grabbing Charm's arm and biting him in the paw. This caused Charm to flinch, leaving Ryder with enough time to attempt to tackle him. When he attempted to pin Charm down however, Charm simply kicked him up into the air and dodged Chase's kick, slamming him into the wall with a kick of his own. As Ryder dove down from the ceiling, Charm grabbed his arm and threw him towards a different wall.

Richie then arrived with the rest of the Paw Patrol, and Everest, and saw what Charm was doing, giving Skye a command as he took his sword out. "Skye! Call your copter!" Skye nodded in response and Richie rushed into battle with the others checking to see if Flare was okay. Since Trickery was out of commission, he couldn't fight, leaving Richie to speak up about it. "Here's a trick to surviving this battle. Don't get in my way." Richie then charged at Charm, who caught his sword as Ryder rushed over to them.

Marshall was currently tending to Flare's wounds, particularly the scar in his right eye. He was relieved to see that Charm hadn't done too much damage to him. Flare could tell that Marshall was doing the best he could to stay confident, assuring him that they would make it out of this. "We're gonna get through this Flare. I won't let Charm hurt you ever again."

Flare was glad to hear that as Snow then took the time to talk to him, hoping to get some words in when they got back to the lookout. "And I wanna talk to you in private about what you did." Flare could tell there was a hint of anger in Snow's voice and started to worry. He did however, have a feeling why Snow was upset.

Flare then remembered Armorin and saw Rocky hacking the mainframe from Charm's laptop. He nodded to Marshall and walked over to Rocky in an attempt to convince him to let Armorin out. "Hey Rocky; you think you can let the prisoners out too?"

Rocky thought about that for a moment and felt it wouldn't hurt to at least let the good prisoners out. After all, Flare had to have seen at least one besides Everest who was good. "That shouldn't be too big of a vexation for me to handle." Flare wasn't too sure what 'vexation meant, and as Rocky finished hacking the mainframe, he clarified what it meant as he looked for the right stuff to shut down. "That means trouble."

Ryder and Richie were still clashing with Charm, who was able to parry their sword strikes and hand to hand combat strikes rather well. As he was continuing to fight them however, the power started to shut down in the room as Charm then kicked Ryder and Richie two different sides while checking on his laptop. "Oh how history repeats itself." Rocky's boasting infuriated Charm even harder when he'd seen what he did with Flare blowing him another raspberry in the process. "Ryder can be thanked for many, many things I learned after I left."

Charm glared at Rocky and attempted to charge at him, only for Zuma to launch some kind of buoy at Charm after barking. "Buoy twap!" It started out small, but it then grew in size, leaving Charm to catch it and attmept to throw it aside. As soon as he caught it however, he was met with the buoy extending and wrapping Charm up in some rope instantly, and doing it so quickly that Charm couldn't react. This caused Charm to fall to the ground as Zuma then happily bragged to him about it. "Don't feel bad Chawm. Even spoiled bwats miss SOME things in an attack."

Charm growled at Zuma, only for Flare to give a smug grin as he walked up to Charm and sit down on his face. This made Charm growl even harder, only for Flare to suddenly grunt with his butt vibrating as...

BRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUP

...a nasty yellow cloud of rotten eggs hit Charm's nostrils with Chase and Zuma laughing, Skye being stunned, Snow being annoyed, Rocky being disgusted, and Ryder and Richie being confused. Marshall then snickered a bit at his brother's sudden gross act with Charm then biting Flare right in the butt after he stopped gagging. This caused Flare to yip due to how hard it was, causing Marshall to instantly act upon it and grab Charm's jaw upon running over to him. He then opened it up and helped Flare get out with Flare rubbing his butt, which thankfully wasn't bleeding or anything.

"Thanks Marshall." As Marshall smiled and nodded, Flare then took the time to taunt Charm with no one noticing the card being slid to him. "I should also thank my butt for letting me get back at you for that stink bomb!"

Flare laughed a bit as Charm then vanished when flipping him off, surprising everyone as they all then looked at Trickery. As Trickery stood up, he spawned a card for himself as well, saying something warning before he took off. "Charm will discard of Prison City as soon as I untie him. You'd best escape while you can."

Trickery then vanished with Flare instantly becoming worried about the other prisoners as he spoke up to Marshall about it. "Marshall; the rest of Charm's prisoners are still here! We can't let him kill them all!"

"We won't." Marshall assured Flare, looking to Rocky to see what he could do about it. "Rocky! Can you get the rest of the prisoners out of here?"

"I can." After getting a nod from Ryder, Rocky got to work and started making a route for all of the prisoners to escape on. They only hoped it was fast enough for all of them. "It's no guarantee, and we'll most likely lose some, but it's better than nothing." Just then, Skye's helicopter blew up the wall with everyone being ready to jump out.

As everyone got into the helicopter, Skye hopped into the driver's seat and flew as quickly as possible to get away from the explosion. She then grabbed her microphone to get everyone else prepared while hoping they were in ear range. "Hang onto your seatbelts everyone! Today's forecast forgot to warn us for city sized genocide!" The prisoners were thankfully already out, and they all made their way to the escape route as fast as they could as Zuma pressed a button on his pup tag for something.

Richie was also quick to inform Skye that this was an inappropriate time for jokes while doing his best to be polite about it. "I know this was in an attempt to lighten up the mood Skye, but I think we should wait until we get back to the lookout. And also find less dark things to joke about." Skye nodded in understanding, hoping that she didn't offend anyone with her lackluster timing. She wasn't as common of the jokester as some of the others after all, os it was a little hard for her. Luckily, no one else showed any anger or disgust towards the joke.

Skye's helicopter was flying off a minute later with a bunch of explosions being heard and seen in Prison City. Flare, who was looking outside the window at Prison City, saw the explosions with Marshall holding his paw to help him get past it. Rocky was checking the drone he sent out, and it was revealed that he was looking at a bunch of passengers on what looked like an orange boat. Rocky counted and saw that only half of the prisoners survived, and he showed intense discomfort upon seeing that some of them died. He could only be relieved that Flare wasn't one of them.

As Prison City continued to blow up, Marshall hugged Flare as the younger Dalmatian showed how scared he was to see literal genocide before him. Ryder then saw what Rocky was doing and asked about how the other passengers were doing. "How many did we manage to save?"

"Only half of them, not counting Flare and Everest." Flare was horrified to hear that half of the prisoners in Prison City failed to make it out and Marshall made extra sure to be on guard for anything he may say. "And we have no idea where the survivors used to live."

Flare walked over to Rocky, who knew what he wanted to see and showed him the panel. Flare scrolled through the list of survivors for a bit and saw that one of the survivors was Armorin, which made him feel a little better. "At least Armorin made it. He was the one I met right before I found Everest." Flare was clearly devastated by what happened, but he wasn't about to let that break him. He still wanted to join the Paw Patrol, refusing to take inaction towards this, and his proud smile proved that. "Ryder, let me know when you set up my next training session!"

Ryder was impressed by how well Flare was taking this after his minute of grief and had to admire his confidence. He also saw a new light of confidence in Marshall, who walked up to him and gave Flare some comforting words. "Just know you can talk to me if the danger starts to get to you Flare. I imagine what we just went through was huge for you." Flare hugged Marshall, who wrapped his arms around him, and Chase smiled when he saw the two brothers embracing one another. He knew that the two of them were gonna improve from here on out, no doubt about it.

Snow and Everest were sitting in the back as Snow was telling Everest about what she went through after she lost Everest, starting with how she met the Paw Patrol. "And it turned out that Zuma was lying, and I was really mad about it at first, but I realized we'd have to work together to get out of the mess we got put into. And as you can imagine, it wasn't hard trusting someone who screwed you over."

Everest could get behind what Snow was saying. She knew Snow hated liars and fakes more than anything. She then got excited to get to know the Paw Patrol. "Zuma's super lucky the Paw Patrol took you in after all you went through. I can't wait to see what all the friends you made here are about! Who would you say you're the closest with out of everyone you know?"

"Definitely Flare and Skye." Snow answered quickly, and then she remembered that she wanted to talk to Flare when they got back to the lookout. She sighed as she opened up to Everest about it, knowing she would know how far 'too far' would be. "I do have some choice words for Flare though. I still can't believe he risked his life for some dumb promise. He'd better have a good excuse for that."

Everest saw that Snow was frustrated about this and felt she had an idea on what to say, since Flare told her about the promise he made to Snow. "Maybe talking about it with him is for the best. As long as you don't blow up at him over it, you should be okay."

Snow hoped Everest was right. The last thing she wanted this talk to do was tarnish her bond with Flare. She just needed to know what to say. "Is there anything I should say that would let Flare know that I don't hate him?"

Everest smiled to Snow and assured her that she would be okay, so long as she picked her words right. "You'll know when you talk to him. You've lived with the Paw Patrol for more than a year, right? Your social skills have to have improved since you met them." Snow saw Everest's point and couldn't help but smile back, let alone hug her sister in immense joy. As Everest wrapped her arms around Snow, the two had to admit that they were beyond glad to see each other. And as Snow shed a tear of joy, she knew that one thing in this very moment was for certain.

She had her sister back.

The Paw Patrol arrived back at the lookout with Marshall and Everest hopping out first so Marshall could give Everest a tour of the lookout. "Come on Everest. You're gonna love the lookout!"

Everest was grateful for the tour offer from Marshall, and as she walked off with him, everyone hopped out, with Flare and Snow walking off to talk in private. Flare had a few ideas as to what Snow was thinking about, and after having realized the consequence, he felt awful for making her worry about him. "I know it was really stupid for me to sneak onto the mission; really, REALLY stupid." Snow stopped when she and Flare were behind the lookout, and he did the same as he continued to speak. "Especially with Charm being a massive obstacle in the rescue."

Snow breathed in with her nose, and out from her mouth, before turning to Flare, clearly still upset about the stunt he pulled. "You helped me get what I needed to find Everest. I'll be grateful for your help no matter what." Flare noticed Snow's tone change as she then started venting about what she was feeling back there. "But this has to have been the dumbest thing you've ever done in your life. You risked your life on a potentially do or die mission, even after I told you that you didn't have to come."

Flare's regret over making everyone worry was shown, but it was clear to him that besides Marshall, Snow was the most scared for him. He knew she needed this, and he let her blow off all the steam she had to before he spoke up. "My device was already finished. I could finally save my sister. You did everything you had to do. And instead you risk your life, even when I tell you not to!" Snow then took notice to Flare's guilty expression and his ears dropping, so she ended up showing the part that made her conflicted. "But still. You risked your life... to help me."

Flare felt like he'd just been hit with a truck full of syringe packed guilt doses. All he thought about was helping Snow save Everest. After a few seconds, he spoke up. "I'm so sorry Snow." Snow let Flare speak, and as he explained himself, she understood further what his motives were. "My mom always told me that a promise was a form of building trust. And if you break it, you let down the one you make the promise to." Flare sighed, knowing that he took his dedication to the promise too far. "I never even considered that there was a limit to that. It was really messed up of me to make you fear for my life, and I'm so, sorry Snow. I never wanted to hurt you."

Snow was surprised by that last part. Sure she was upset with Flare over the stunt she pulled, but she wouldn't say she was 'hurt' by it. She just couldn't understand why Flare would risk his life for her. "You never hurt me Flare." Flare was surprised to hear that, and then Snow spoke about what she meant. "I just hated that you put your life in danger just to keep some dumb promise that, while I appreciate more than anything, I never asked for. (Rubs arm) I never wanted you to risk your life just to help me. I'm... I'm not worth it."

Flare instantly put his paws on Snow's shoulders after hearing that, wanting her to know how much she meant to him in the time they've known each other. "Don't say that! You're more than worth it!" Snow looked into Flare's eyes. She saw that his words were sincere, and that his care for her was genuine. "Maybe not out of the stupidity I showed today, but if I had to choose between saving my own life or yours, or anyone I cared for... I would choose to save your life." Snow was touched by those words, and Flare then finished what he had to say. "So don't ever, ever tell me, that you're not worth it."

Snow couldn't help but smile upon hearing that. She knew Flare would be someone she could always trust no matter what. "If you really mean that... then I'll honor that request." Flare was glad to hear that, and then he became surprised when Snow kissed his right cheek, which made him blush softly as she then explained it. "That's for being the sweetest thing ever." Snow then punched Flare's right cheek; it wasn't very hard, but Flare could still feel it. "And that's for being stupid. (Smirks) Next time you risk your life for me, at least make sure you can fight back."

Snow walked off and left Flare to think about the talk they had with Flare not being sure what to make of the kiss. As he watched Snow walk off, he thought about what she could've been trying to tell him with that kiss, and as Snow walked off, she smiled with relief. She was glad to be able to talk to Flare about what happened, and she couldn't be happier to have him in her life. What he did was reckless, of course, but it was also a clear sign of just how far he was willing to go to help those he cared about.

Marshall was still giving Everest a tour of the lookout with Everest being amazed by what he saw as Marshall showed her the mission room. Everest was already impressed by the rest of what she saw, but the mission room definitely impressed her the most. She never would've guessed that Snow would've joined a rescue team while she was gone! "I'm sure Ryder would be okay with letting you stay here, especially since Snow spent so much time looking for you."

Everest was hoping that would be the case, and that Richie had her fill out the application so she could earn her keep. "I sure hope he lets me stay. Your friend Richie even had me fill out an application to join the team before he got that call to where your brother was."

"Really!? That's great!" Marshall then realized how that could come off and quickly corrected himself before he creeped Everest out. "For Snow I mean. From what the others told me, she's been looking for you ever since she joined the Paw Patrol last year. If she stays after that, then there's no reason for you to not be allowed at least a chance to join."

Everest giggled a bit at Marshall's correction on what he meant, having already started to enjoy his company. "Not a problem. I hope I become a member too. I'm super excited to get to know all of you."

Marshall beamed when he heard that. Like his younger brother, he was always happy to make a new friend. "In that case, I think we should get to know each other so we can start playing things we both like. Would you say you're more of an outside dog like me, or an inside dog?" Everest was glad to hear that Marshall enjoyed playing outside, and her smile made it clear that she shared that in common with him.

About a half an hour after their talk, Flare and Snow were playing outside together with Snow looking for Flare as the latter hid in a bush. Flare was trying hard not to laugh as Snow passed by the bush he was in, and she then got the idea to use her nose. She started sniffing, and she managed to pick up Flare's scent, going over to the bush he was hiding in as she gave a proud smile. She then boasted a little about it as she opened the bush to find him. "Found ya! Dang I'm good!"

Flare hi fived Snow as he then got excited to start seeking for her as he got out of the bush. "Alright Snow; it's your turn to hide!"

"Ya need someone to help count to twenty?" Flare and Snow looked to see Marshall and Everest walking together as Everest continued from her joke. "I finally got my tour of the place finished Snow. Now we can do whatever you want."

Snow was ecstatic to hear that, as now she could finally do what she's wanted to ever since she met Flare: A chance to play with her and Everest at the same time. "Flare and I were playing hide and seek if you wanna join in. Maybe you'll get a prize if one of us fails to find you."

Everest was up for that, as was Marshall, with the latter then speaking up about who should seek next. "Since we only just joined in, who should be the seeker this time?"

"I will!" Flare responded excitedly, and then he showed how confident he was in how fast he would find all three of them. "I'm gonna count to twenty and find all of you before you even have a chance to hide!"

"You're on!" Snow declared, and she laughed along with Marshall and Everest as as smiling Flare turned to the bush he hid in to start counting. He was glad that he and Snow were still good friends, and that he was able to help her find Everest. Snow was just as glad about both of those things as Flare was. She was especially happy about the fact that she could finally be reunited with her older sister. Flare and Snow's bond grew from this experience, and now that Everest was back in Snow's life, the possibilities of what they could do with her were endless.

As the four pups played their game, the screen then faded to black, ending the season off.

The title Paw Patrol X came onto the screen with the words Paw Patrol linked in red, and the X in blue, as Flare then spoke over the words that came underneath it as an instrumental version of the main theme played. "This isn't the last you're gonna see of us! Check out what you'll be seeing more of next season in the season one epilogue chapter: A Promise Kept!"
