Paw Patrol X
Friend or Foe arc Episode eleven: Jake's Mountain
It was early in the morning on the day after Rocky and Zuma went to Coastal Current with Zuma's parents for a one week vacation. Claw was bored on the couch at the moment, since he didn't have any frequent friends to hang out with other than Everest, who had plans with Snow. Flare and Marshall were visiting their mom and sister in Twin Flame Island, Rocky and Zuma were visiting Coastal Current with Zuma's parents, and Chase was staying with Skye while her sister got treated for cancer. There wasn't a lot Claw thought he could do by himself either.
Claw looked over to the kithcen as Snow and Everest were getting snacks out of the fridge. He hoped it wouldn't hurt to ask if he could go with them. After all, it wasn't like they were gonna go out of town to visit family like everyone else. He decided to go for it and walked up to them. He tried not to get nervous around Everest too. "Hey girls."
Everest looked at Claw with a friendly smile as Snow continued looking for the right snacks. "Hey Claw. Great morning, right?"
"Yeah, you said it." Claw replied, and then he decided to go ahead and ask what he wanted to ask Snow and Everest. "Though, I'll admit, I don't really have any plans for today. And since everyone else was busy..." Snow caught onto where this was going and gave a skeptical look as Claw finished his question. "would you mind if I went with you two to Jake's Mountain?"
Everest didn't want to hurt Claw's feelings, but she also didn't want to disappoint Snow. This was supposed to be a day where it was just the two of them after all. "Well..." Claw couldn't help looking worried as he heard that, hoping he didn't upset Everest in any way. Before he could reject the idea however, Everest let him know what that would depend on. "I wouldn't want to upset Snow by letting you come on a sisters only trip. I guess if she wants to then it'd be fine."
Snow thought about this for a moment while finding the blueberry sodas she liked, and she felt it wouldn't be the end of the world. After all, she was trying to work on trusting Claw enough to consider him a friend. Maybe that could lead to it being be a win win for all of them. As she put the sodas into the freeze bag, she allowed Claw to come with her and Everest; even if somewhat reluctantly. "I guess having a last minute member wouldn't ruin everything. And getting back into mountain climbing can wait. As long as Claw lets us have some sister bonding moments, he can come."
Claw was glad to hear that, and so was Everest. This meant she didn't have to disappoint anyone. "All I needed to hear!" Claw couldn't help but think about how much fun it'd be to see Jake's Mountain. He couldn't imagine what a place like that would be like, mainly due to having limited knowledge on it himself.
Everest was driving up to Jake's Mountain with Claw and Snow, the latter two of whom were in the backseat of her snowmobile. Claw was amazed by how beautiful Jake's Mountain was from sight alone. It'd been forever since he'd seen snow in real life, and it looked as amazing as he'd hoped it would. Snow could tell that Claw was amazed and decided to strike a conversation about it. "Beautiful, right?"
Claw couldn't help nodding his head yes in response to that. He also had to point something he just noticed out to the younger of the two Huskies. "And to think you're named after this stuff."
Snow laughed a bit in response to that as she brought up something else about her name. "Everest really couldn't have come up with a better name for me."
"If I wasn't a month away from turning four I would have." Everest chimed in, knowing full well that she was young when she came up with that name. "I just pointed out the first thing I saw and thought it'd be a fitting name for you."
Claw still liked the way Snow's name sounded. Especially after seeing snow in real life. "I don't think age has anything to do with how fitting it was." Claw then started to think about his own parents and why they gave him the name he got. "Now I'm wondering why my parents named me Claw." Snow became interested when she heard that Claw remembered his parents too. "I was an only child before Caiohme and Sweetie came into my life, so that's ruled out."
"Did your... did your parents love you?" Claw nodded his head yes, deciding not to question why Snow asked that. She then wondered why Claw didn't think to stay with them. "Then why don't you ask them if you can visit or something?"
"They died."
"My bad."
Everest decided to ease the tension by pointing out some of the animals on the path as they passed by. "Just as I thought! Those little critters never stop moving!" Claw and Snow looked out onto the sides of the road and saw the animals playing in the snow. Claw had to admit; he liked seeing them looking for food out there. It showed him that he wasn't the only one capable of breaking through his struggle. He only wished he knew how he would be able to do so.
Claw was getting a good look around Jake's Mountain as Snow and Everest were getting their snow gear from Jake. He was surprised by how much stuff was there for what was basically a mountain covered in snow. Jake noticed Claw looking around and let Snow and Everest know to keep him in check. "I'm not gonna send Claw off for no reason dudettes, but if he starts doing anything scary, I'm gonna have to step in. I don't want anyone on this mountain feeling on edge."
"It's cool. Almost everyone in town was scared of him at first too." Snow pointed out, letting Jake know that he wasn't alone there.
"We'll also be sure to stop him from having any of his tantrums if possible." Everest assured Jake, who gave the two a thumbs up as they went over to Claw with their snow gear. "Snow gear's ours for the day Claw! You wanna race down the mountain with us?"
Claw got a good look down the mountain and thought it looked like fun. He then remembered something he had to do and reluctantly offered to put the race on hold for a bit. "That sounds like fun, but would you be okay with it if I got a better idea of the surroundings of Jake's Mountain first?"
Snow and Everest looked at each other, and then looked back at Claw, seeing no problem with it at the moment. "Just don't take too long. We'd hate to have you miss out on TOO much fun."
"Got it!" Claw responded, and then he dashed off to get a better idea of the surroundings of Jake's Mountain. Once he made sure no one was in sight after a few seconds of running, he jumped into the woods and waited until he was in deep enough to avoid being heard by anyone. A part of him felt bad about what he was about to do, but he knew this was something he couldn't back out of. After all, it was either doing this, or seeing Caiohme of Sweetie die. Trying to hide his remorseful look, he turned on his earpiece and gave a claw to Charm to fill him in.
Meanwhile, in Charm's current base, Charm's Red Nose Pitbull and Blue Nose Pitbull henchmen were outside of Charm's bedroom as they nervously started playing rock paper scissors. After hitting a tie for the first two rounds, the Red Nose won the third round and pumped his fist with joy. The Blue Nose wasn't too happy about that, and the Red Nose patted his shoulder for support before he put his paw on the door. As he opened the door, he looked to find Charm sleeping with his blanket on the side. He must have taken it off while he was sleeping.
Despite Charm looking surprisingly cute while sleeping, the Blue Nose knew he had to get him up for the day. He was also facing the wall that was away from the door, so the Blue Nose found himself tapping Charm's foot in an attempt to wake him up. "Um... boss? It's time to get up." Charm however, wasn't in the mood to get up just yet. Just then however, Charm's earpiece went off, and being barely awake thanks to it, Charm yawned as he started to get up. Charm began by raising his butt into the air, and it went right into the Blue Nose's face as Charm let loose...
BLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP
...a crass and loud twenty second wake up fart into the Blue Nose's face, making Charm's butt vibrate as he hit the Blue Nose with a big yellow cloud of rotten eggs. The fart cloud surrounded the entirety of Charm's room with the Golden Retriever pup looking at his raised up butt and grinning as he shook it a little. "My butt never fails to feel good after that." Charm then heard his earpiece ringing again and answered it after sighing, knowing that it had to be for something important. "This had better be essential mission information Claw! You're on MY time, and I just woke up!"
"You'll be happy to hear that it's exactly that Charm!" Claw informed Charm as he appeared on the other line, despite the fact that Charm rolled his eyes in response to that and mouthed 'Put quotation marks around happy.' as Claw continued. It was pretty clear that Charm didn't like being bothered in the morning. "I'm getting a decent look around this place in Adventure Bay called Jake's Mountain. It could be perfect for your private base here if you find a spot secluded enough to avoid anyone coming to take a look."
Charm liked the sound of that with the Blue Nose shown to be barely conscious as he stood up all woozy from Charm's butt blast. "That just might work Claw. And let's hope it is for the sake of Caiohme and Sweetie." Claw gulped at the sound of that with Charm finishing the call abruptly. "We'll be there soon!" Charm hung up and rolled out of bed, landing cleanly on the floor and noticing his henchmen lying down on his way to the door. Charm wasn't ready for slackers, so he wrapped his tail around the Blue Nose and walked out of the room. As he was walking down the hall, he signaled the Red Nose to come with him as he cut...
PHHHHHHHHHHT
...a ripe and bassy five second fart into the Blue Nose's face, making his butt vibrate as the yellow eggy cloud caused the Blue Nose to pass out. "Make sure he's awake by the time we head for Jake's Mountain. This base isn't going to make itself, and I won't allow any slacking during the process." The Red Nose nodded in response, despite knowing how hard it was going to be to wake up the Blue Nose after being hit with Charm's farts. Especially since he heard the stinker he let out in the room. He couldn't help gagging from the smell, making Charm cackle in response.
Claw was arriving back to where Snow and Everest were, hoping to still have some fun with them as Charm prepped his new base. He had a feeling Charm would want him there to see his base when he found the right spot for it. For now though, he was gonna have as much fun with Snow and Everest as he could. "Sorry about that. You girls ready to have some snowy fun?"
"So long as you mean what I hope you mean." Snow joked, making Claw flinch and then snicker a bit before he stood next to Everest.
Everest gave Claw a quick rundown on what to do with his snowboard, since this was his first time using one. "Your paws play a vital part in moving on a snowboard, just like you would when walking. Make sure you swerve when you see something in front of you while going down, but not too far to the side. Ans when you go off a ramp, it could be a good opportunity to do some snowboarding tricks if you feel confident enough."
Claw looked down the hill and felt he could handle it no problem. He stepped onto the snowboard and got ready for action. "Sounds easy enough to me. Let's do this!"
"That's the spirit!" Everest exclaimed, and then she started off with Snow and Claw joining her at the same time. Claw was struggling a little, but after a bit of time, he managed to get a hold of the snowboard. Snow was able to handle it pretty well herself, having done this a few times after she and Everest reunited. Everest was doing the best out of all three of them however, and her first ramp was proof of that. As she zoned in on it with a determined grin, she prepared her jump to get as many tricks as possible. As she made her jump, the tricks ensued.
Everest first pulled off a full spin, and then did a front flip. After she performed a second front flip, Snow rolled her eyes while smiling at her sister showing off her moves. Claw couldn't help being infatuated with what he saw, and hearts popped above his head when he did. Everest was so graceful; so beautiful; so fun to be around. Snow saw something in front of Claw when she noticed he was zoned out. "Dude, snap out of it!"
"Huh?" Claw snapped out of his trance after Snow caught his attention, and after giving a dumbfounded look... he crashed into a flagpole that was set up for going through two of them.
Everest and Snow stopped in their tracks and went over to Claw, hoping he was alright. Everest helped him up when he fell onto his back from the impact of the flagpole. "You okay Claw?"
"I've had worse tumbles." Claw assured Everest, and then he tried to cover up his crush on Everest by pointing out where the flagpole was placed. "What're they making these flagpoles out of nowadays anyway? Steel?" Snow and Everest couldn't help laughing at that, and thankfully, claw knew they weren't laughing at his expense.
Somewhere on Jake's Mountain, Charm was searching for the perfect place for his new base with Trickery. As the two of them looked for a new base location, Charm then gained a theory that he took his binoculars out to test. "Hey Trickery. Every mountain has a top, right?"
"That's a pretty basic question Charm." Trickery pointed out, despite knowing it was rhetorical. "And if Jake's Mountain is like all the rest, it should be a perfect base area."
"My point exactly!" Charm looked into his binoculars and looked around for the top of the mountain from where he stood. Jake's Mountain wasn't the tallest mountain in the world, so it was pretty easy to find. And as a bonus, it was still in the radius of Adventure Bay. A different entrance to the mountain than the one Snow, Everest, and Claw took even. "Perfect!" Charm nodded to Trickery, who took out a homing shot card and threw it directly for the spot Charm wanted them to go to.
Once the card started floating above the spot in question, Charm and Trickery appeared right on that spot with Charm calling his henchmen. "Break! Pound! Get the rest of our minions and get ready to have Trickery teleport you to our chosen spot!"
"Yes boss!"
After the henchmen spoke in sync to that, Charm hung up and sighed annoyingly in response to what they called him. He knew they were dumb, but he could've sworn that he'd told them about his preferences for this at least a dozen times already. "Just once, I'd like those idiots to remember that I don't like titles."
"All in due time Charm." Trickery assured Charm, knowing that regardless of the smarts of his henchmen, he would still be able to get this base done. "And their brawn should more than make up for their lack of brains when we gets started on the base."
Charm couldn't help grinning in response to that, showing a sadistic one to Trickery as he spoke up about it. "They'd better pray for their lives that it does!"
As Claw, Snow, and Everest arrived at the top of the hill through the ski loft, Claw was curious about what the three of them would do next. Since it was his first time up here, he felt it was best to have Snow and Everest make the decisions. "So what do you two wanna do next?"
Snow and Everest thought for a moment, and Everest quickly came up with what she was up for doing next. "I heard there's a really cool cave here with these beautiful looking ice flowers we could explore. You guys up for that?"
"I'm down for anything you wanna do Everest!" Claw assured Everest, and then he quickly retracted when he realized how he sounded there. "I mean, something totally not weird in relation to that. Like... ice cream! Both are awesome!"
Snow was quick to point out how Claw comparing Everest to ice cream was a bad move. "You're allergic to gluten."
"There are gluten free flavors." Claw argued, and then he looked to Everest to assure her that she'd still be great. "You'd be one of the good flavors in that category, of course."
Everest decided to step in after that so she could keep Claw and Snow from starting an argument. "Okay, let's not linger on this for too long. I have a feeling you two will love these flowers as much as I love the sound of them."
Snow was on board with this too, since she'd been into caves before. "I've gone cave exploring with Flare and Sunshine in Dragon's Hamlet at least three times now. I'm in!"
"Alright then. Let's go!" Claw exclaimed, leaving Everest and Snow glad to see that all three of them were on board with this. The pups then set off to find the cave Everest spoke of to find the ice flowers in question.
Claw, Snow, and Everest were in a different part of Jake's Mountain, one that was close to a cave that could have the flowers Everest was super eager to see. When they entered the cave, the three of them were in awe at how beautiful it looked on the inside. The ice covering the area made it look like they were walking through edge-less diamonds. Claw was glad it wasn't slippery too. There was no way he needed two wipe outs in one day. As he was walking with Snow and Everest, he only had one word to say in response to seeing his reflection in the icy walls. "Incredible."
While the three pups were admiring the icy walls, Everest caught sight of the flowers she mentioned earlier. "There they are!" Everest went over to the ice flowers and started to admire them in all their glory. She couldn't believe she was really looking at flowers made from ice.
Once Snow and Claw joined Everest in the gazing, Snow pointed out a nice detail on their design. "They look so delicate." Snow then thought about how she used to be before joining the Paw Patrol. "Like how I used to be."
"Hey. No need to let that bring you down now." Everest informed Snow supportively, wanting her to stay positive as much as possible. "You saved me from Prison Island." Snow did feel better upon remembering that day. "That's enough proof that you've become a strong and worthwhile pup worthy of excellence."
Snow smiled from Everest's praise, and as this happened, Claw went to pick one of the flowers. As Everest noticed, she tried to warn Claw, "Claw, wait; the flowers-" ...only for the flower Claw went for to break as soon as he touched it. "...break upon contact."
Claw pulled his paw away as he saw that, realizing why that was a dumb move. "Yeah, I probably... definitely should've seen that coming." Everest wasn't upset by this mistake however. She was still glad to have seen the ice flowers. And plenty of them were still alive as it was. Snow was also quick to take a photo for prosperity's sake.
Claw, Snow, and Everest were now exiting the cave with Snow hoping to get some actual sister alone time with Everest. She hoped she didn't sound rude when she brought up how much she was looking forward to it. "So, not that I'm upset about Claw having come onto this trip, but now that he's had some fun on Jake's Mountain... can we pleeeease spend some sister alone time together?"
"I was planning on it." Everest assured Snow as she rubbed her head gently. She then looked to Claw, knowing he would understand. "Snow and I are gonna go find something to do now. Jake said he was fine with you being in his house so long as your anger doesn't get destructive, so we'll meet you back there."
"Okay, fine with me." Claw responded, and then as he saw Snow and Everest walk off while talking about what else they could do, he tried to think of what he could do by himself on the way back to Jake's house. "Maybe I could head back to that hill we were snowboarding on and brush up on my skills." Claw then started to think about how much more this could benefit him in the long run. "And then maybe I'll come closer to making Everest like like me! It's perfect!"
Just then, Claw heard his earpiece ringing and answered it, knowing who it was, and being slightly annoyed by the interruption. "Yes Charm?"
Charm appeared on the other line as he observed the blueprints he had in store for his next base. "We found the right spot for my base in Adventure Bay. Are any of the Paw Patrol nearby?"
Claw looked around and saw that Claw and Everest were out of sight. Relieved to see that they didn't spot him, he confirmed being alone. "Not at the moment."
"Perfect. Sit tight." Charm advised Claw, and then he called over to Trickery, which confused Claw. "Trickery! Do the thing!" As Claw was sitting in confusion, Charm made sure to let him know that asking questions about this would be a mistake. "Try not to think too hard about this next one."
"Think too hard about what?" Claw asked, and then he found himself being teleported away just as Charm hung up on the earpiece. As Claw looked around in confusion, he realized that he was on the highest patch of snow of Jake's Mountain that could be arrived to by foot or vehicle. He was quick to wonder what just happened. "Did you just teleport me to a different part of the mountain?" Charm nodded his head yes before he signaled Claw to come over to him, which he did.
Once Claw went over to Charm, he showed the Doberman blueprints for a two story base with a power source of some kind underneath it. "I probably don't need to tell you what this is. Feel free to observe it as much as you like." Claw got a good look at the base and was impressed by all that Charm had planned for it. Although, the sight of the torture room did throw him off a bit. He wished he could stop working for someone who liked torturing people. Charm quickly noticed this and got annoyed by it. "Oh, give it a rest Claw. It'll only be for our enemies."
Claw gulped in response to Charm's wording there, as he knew that the Paw Patrol were included in that explanation. He didn't know if he could handle the thought or sight of any of the Paw Patrol being tortured. The thought of it happening to Flare, Zuma, and Everest especially brought chills down his spine. "And... how brutal will this torture be?"
"As brutal as I want it!" Charm exclaimed as he grabbed Claw's paw and brought him over to a spot right in front of the building zone. "This is my big attack on Adventure Bay. Just wait until all of the life surrounding it runs out!"
Charm laughed devilishly as he thought about how much he was going to enjoy this plan. Claw was starting to see what he was getting into, and questioned if Charm was going to keep his end of the deal. "And what about Sweetie and Caiohme? You'll spare them now, right?"
Charm grabbed Claw's chest and brought him in close as he let him know exactly what he wanted from him. "I never said this was ALL you had to do!" Charm looked directly into Claw's eyes as he filled his very will with fear and let him know what he wanted from him. "You're going to inform Ryder of this base, pretending to be working with the Paw Patrol by then. And then you're going to ask Ryder if you can come on the mission to make absolute sure we can use those canines for ransom."
Claw was shivering with fear as he thought about how much danger he was putting everyone in with this. As much as he wanted to protect Sweetie and Caiohme, he didn't want any of the Paw Patrol to get hurt either. "And what if the Paw Patrol were to find out about the plan early?"
"Would we really want that to happen now?" Charm answered with a a question and a devilish grin, letting go of Claw and pushing him back. Claw fell on his rump with Charm making it clear what he would do if Claw were to fail him. "If you truly want to prove you're worth something more than the empty praise Barkingburg gave to you, then you'll make sure everything goes according to plan." Charm then gave a sadistic glare to Claw to let him know he meant business. "Because if we fail, then I'll kill Sweetie and Caiohme before I decide your fate!"
Claw was horrified at the sound of that, much more than he was before. He couldn't bring himself to risk the lives of Sweetie and Caiohme. He wanted to make sure the Paw Patrol got out of this unharmed, but he would be even more distraught to lose the two of them. They gave him belief that he deserved a happy life; that he was actually worth something. As awful as he felt for doing this, those two were his top priority. And he knew he couldn't stop Charm if he tried. He held everything back and clenched his fists before his remorseful face was shown. "Okay."
Charm grinned evilly as he then knelt down to Claw, despite being slightly younger than him, and he decided to end the conversation there. "Delightful." He then looked over to Trickery with the intent to send Claw back. "Trickery!"
Claw couldn't help showing his regret as he looked up at the card. He thought to himself about how he would fix this for everyone. 'I don't know how I'll do it, but I promise. To all of you. I'll find a way to make this right.'
Snow and Everest were somewhere on Jake's Mountain admiring the wildlife as they were talking about life. As they walked on the snowy ground, Snow brought up a little something about Claw. "Ya know Everest, it's pretty obvious that Claw has his eyes on you."
Everest couldn't help flinching as Snow brought that up. She knew she'd have to be honest with Claw at some point. "Yeah, I noticed. I just wish I knew how to break it to him that I like Marshall."
"Knowing Claw, he's definitely gonna get mad about it at first." Snow pointed out, knowing Claw well enough to know his instinctive reactions. "Still, these don't last for too long. I'm more concerned about whether or not he'll bother to fess up."
Little did Snow know that Everest's problem was hurting Claw at all. "Hopefully there's a chance I can avoid telling him at all." Everest then became interested in how Snow was doing with her feelings for Flare. Being her older sister, it was easy for Everest to tell when Snow was focused on him. Her sly grin spoke it all to Snow. "Speaking of romance... what's going on with you and Flare."
Snow wasn't sure if Flare even liked her back. He didn't seem like someone who was into romance. "Still wondering if the love is mutual."
As Everest and Snow were arriving back at Jake's hut, Everest knew of something that'd help both of them. "Maybe a cup of hot chocolate would help?" Snow licked her lips and smacked them in response, being in full agreement of that idea.
Inside Jake's house, Claw, Snow, and Everest were being served with the hot chocolate he made, and Claw instantly got the one with extra marshmallows. Everest quickly said thanks for all three of them after she and Snow got their cups. "Thanks Jake. Looks as good as always."
"Happy to please!" Jake replied, heading back to the kitchen to let them know he was happy to make more. "Let me know if you want seconds."
As the three pups enjoyed their hot chocolate, Everest couldn't help but notice that something was on Claw's mind. She started to worry about him, and hoped he wouldn't mind talking about it. "You okay Claw?"
Claw flinched and tried not to spill his hot chocolate from the surprise. He only wished he could tell Everest the truth. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just have a lot on my mind right now." Claw took a sip of his hot chocolate, making sure it didn't burn his tongue as he showed how he appreciated getting to hang out with Snow and Everest today. "Being up here with you and Snow is definitely helping with that."
"As if Everest could ever make anyone have a bad time." Snow chimed in, sipping her hot chocolate as Everest laughed a bit in response to her statement.
Video game references aside, Everest was glad that she was able to help Claw with whatever was bothering him. "I hope that means you'll be okay with talking to me about it when you feel ready."
Claw was more than happy to confirm that, despite having to hold back his inner guilt over what was going on. "You bet I will be." Claw took another sip of his hot chocolate... only to get some marshmallow stuck on his nose. "Hey; you're supposed to be in my mouth!" Claw tried to lick the marshmallow off of his nose, and didn't have much avail to it. Snow and Everest laughed in response to this, finding Claw's method to be rather silly, since he could just use one of his paws.
On the way home from Jake's Mountain, Claw started to think about whether or not there was a better way to protect Sweetie and Caiohme. He was growing closer and closer to the Paw Patrol every day he spent with them. The bonds he had with Flare, Zuma, and Everest especially made him hate what he was doing. And even without those three, there was Rocky, who fixed his pup pack for him, Snow, who was working to trust him, and Chase, who he knew he could have a good time with. Even Skye, who he hadn't talked to much yet, was someone he cared about.
He just couldn't get Sweetie and Caiohme out of his mind. They were still his priority, and with Charm threatening their lives, he felt powerless. He could text Sweetie and Caiohme about Charm's plans, but that would most likely result in them being captured anyway. He could tell Ryder and ask him to play along, but what if Charm was planning for that as well? There was nothing Claw could think of that didn't follow up with the idea that Charm was five steps ahead of him.
Everest noticed how hopeless Claw looked and started to worry about him again. "Are you okay Claw? You look really down."
Claw tried his best to hide what was going on and looked to Everest with something else that was on his mind. "Just thinking about how things might've been if I'd declined Charm's offer to help him back in Barkingburg." Everest understood why that would be on anyone's mind. It wasn't an easy thought to shake off. Especially not for Claw. "The fact that you guys took me in after that says a lot about who you really are."
Everest smiled and let Claw know that she would be there to help him move on from the attack. "You're working to atone for it now. Even if not much has been done yet. And I'll be there to help you as much as I can."
Claw felt even more awful about helping Charm after hearing that, but he couldn't help feeling warmer after hearing those words from Everest. "Thank you. I'll remember that." Everest was happy to hear that, but as she focused on the road again, Claw leaned on his door and thought about what he was going to do. Was helping Charm really the only path he had left? Or was there really a chance that he'd be able to help everyone without losing any of those he cared deeply for?
Back at Charm's base, Charm was holding the Dragon's Tooth in front of the dragons while making them do dog tricks. "Okay. Sit!" The dragons all sit as they were shown to be different sizes with three specific ages; three male and three female, with two of them being kids, two of them being teenagers, and two of them being adults. Trickery entered the room as Charm made his next command. "Roll over!" As he caught sight of this, he chuckled when walking up to Charm. Charm noticed right away and made his third command to the dragons. "Roar!"
The dragons all roared fiercely, making Trickery impressed with how well Charm has tamed the dragons. "You've certainly made a lot of progress."
"So much so that they'll be ready to start sparring tomorrow!" Charm then walked over to the youngest of the dragons, and when he did, it was revealed to be none other than... Sunshine! As Charm got a good look at him, he felt it was best to leave the light lifting to the yellow dragon. "Perhaps this one would be best suited for ground control. He can't use wings he doesn't have yet."
Trickery got a good look at the Dragon's Tooth as he started thinking about something that brought some sorrow to his eyes. "If only your father could see you now."
"If he weren't stupid then he would've lived for that." The way Charm worded that made Trickery feel even worse about what it was he was thinking about. Whatever it was, Charm was too busy practicing with the Dragon's Tooth to care. It made him all the more excited for when he finally fulfilled his plan to drain Adventure Bay's life. And as he continued playing with the dragons, his sadistic grin made it clear that he was ready for when they started getting ready for battle.
Soft guitar music played as Flare started speaking in regards to what was going to happen in the next part of the next chapter with specific moments being shown. "Just as I thought. This vacation has been great so far! Wait. How come I've never seen this room before? Um... Marshall, you may wanna see this."
"This stuff must be from before dad died." Marshall pointed out, indicating that this room had things about Blaze in it. "And some of this stuff looks like... oh crap; this can't be good. What was dad up to before he met mom!?"
"What is it Marshall?" Flare asked, hoping that he would let him see whatever it was that he found. "I wanna see too!"
"Okay, but it's pretty shocking." Marshall warned Flare, hinting that this could be something bad that their father did.
Flare finished the announcement with the words Paw Patrol in all blue with red outlines and the title all white with Flare on one and and Marshall on the other. "Next time, The Past of Blaze Munroe! (Flare, Marshall, and Margareth were listening closely as Wave told them one of Blaze's biggest secrets) Wait; dad used to work for who!?"
