Disclaimer: Yep. This is it. The chapter that'll at the very least, help us understand why Charm did what he did in the first two seasons and before that. Don't worry; I'm not gonna ignore the fact that Charm was the one doing these actions, and there will still be consequences, and things will get more challenging for him. This will mainly establish what the main cause of that was, and why Slash is even more despicable than Charm. Hopefully what happens with Charm after this will feel authentic.

Demon Defense arc Episode eight: A Father's Heartless Deed
Eleven years before Wolfland...
A newborn Golden Retriever was laying down on a bed alone in a nearby hospital room. A younger Slash was watching from a window nearby, and he was talking to someone about a plan he had. He was currently alone, and he seemed rather cold and patient. "Everything is going accordingly. Nora has Rocky with her, and the doctor has them distracted. Just remember to execute your part of the plan." Slash hung up, and then he saw someone coming on over and put on his confident and bombastic side. "About time you arrived. Are my wife and offspring okay?"
"They're doing quite well." Trickery was shown to be walking up to Slash, while holding some fake doctor's notes. The forging job was stupendous too. "My lord."
Slash grinned proudly, finding that everything was coming into play. "Any minute now Trickery, and we'll be molding Charm into the Slash Jr. I've always wanted. I just got off the phone with Burner, and he's already found a way to get to him."
Trickery was glad to hear that, knowing that this would please Slash more than anything. "Oh, I'm so excited my lord!"
"I am as well, but try not to look too excited." Slash reminded Trickery, and the two canines then looked into the room to see what went down. "I had to use all of my power as a war leader just to get us the privacy we needed to pull this off. Too much excitement, and we could risk getting exposed." Just then, the lights turned off, which left Slash to explain to a confused Trickery what was going on. "Don't worry, he's not doing a musical. No one likes getting caught doing stuff like this."
Just then, a syringe with black blood was revealed with a red hand holding it. It was evident that this was the blood of a pure demon! Slash looked on with sadism in his eyes as his newborn Golden Retriever was laying there, being completely defenseless. The demon stuck the syringe into the newborn, injecting him with demon blood, and quickly ending his crying. Once the baby stopped crying, Slash gave a quiet, sadistic laugh with his eyes closed, being quite proud of this action. "Be sure to thank Burner when we see him again." Slash then opened his eyes proudly. "Charm."
Slash was speaking to a pure demon back at his house, which was none other than the top floor of the Prison Island base. The pure demon was informing Slash of some things he would need to know before he started working on molding Charm into the ultimate sadist. "Remember Slash. The demon blood won't get rid of his birth nature entirely. There will always be something that has the chance of reawakening his humanity after you make him lose it."
"Just the ability to mold him into the ultimate weapon works for me. And that boost of strength and durability will be more than useful for when we make the demons rise." Slash assured Burner, having written down everything Burner told him just to be sure. "I do hope you're willing to share with me what that is, just in case."
Burner knew Slash would ask about that, and happily informed him of what he needed to bare in mind. "You must keep him from genuine affection. The demon blood will never leave him entirely, but enough kindness will give him the strength needed to overpower the side effects. Even seeing someone else showing true affection to another has a strong chance at helping him resist his sadistic side. So it would be best to only have him leave home for attacks on towns and cities."
Slash wasn't quite sure how exactly that affection thing worked. He figured it wasn't worth questioning though. After all, Burner would've told him if he knew why that was. "I suppose that makes enough sense. Love is the opposite of hate after all, and demon blood creates exactly that."
Burner was glad to see that Slash was catching on so quickly. He expected nothing less from someone as heartless as him. "I knew I offered to help you for good reason." Slash chuckled devilishly before Burner asked him another question about the side effects of Charm's demon blood. "Are you sure you won't have any problems pulling this off? Nora and Rocky could get in the way."
"Trickery and I found a way around it." Slash stated confidently, knowing that he had his wife and kid wrapped around his finger. "They think he has a condition that makes showing him too much love before he's five dangerous. Rocky won't be able to question a thing at his age. And Nora's so scared for Charm that she'll listen to whatever the 'doctor' says."
Burner nodded with a proud smile, glad to see Slash had everything under control. "Brilliant. Then my work here is done for now." Burner snapped his fingers and turned around, but not before looking back with a request to Slash. "That last test you did on my son was astounding. It's just too bad Diana escaped with him last night."
"That is true. Charm would've loved seeing Richie's torment." Slash lamented, allowing Burner to go through the portal as the wolf then gave a sadistic grin with a devilish laugh. "No genuine affection, huh?" Slash clenched his fists, being beyond confident in his chances at keeping Charm at bay. "No problem. I'll make sure that Charm can never relapse from being molded into the ultimate world ruling weapon!" Slash laughed maniacally, ecstatic over how easy he felt this would be to pull off. Luckily, he was in a secret room that had walls thick enough to block any loud noises.
Seven years before Wolfland...
Charm was sitting in his room, looking quite lonely as he thought about what his family must be doing. He heard chirping by his window and looked up to find a bird sitting on the edge of it. Charm's sadistic urges kicked in, and he stood up and went for the bird, grabbing it just before it escaped. As the bird cowered in fear, Charm smiled while snapping the bird's neck, being quite satisfied with his successful kill. Just as he did, Slash came into the room with Charm's lunch. "Hello Charm. How are you doing?"
"I'm doing great father!" Charm assured Slash, hopping off of his bed as he showed him the dead bird. "I'm killing without remorse, just like you taught me! I did good, right!?"
Slash gave a fake, but hard to notice, kind hearted laugh to his son. He set his food down on his bed as he congratulated him on the kill. "You sure did. Charm. Well done." Since this affection was part of Slash's manipulative methods, Charm's demon blood wasn't affected by it. Little did Slash know however, that raising Charm to be this ruthless would come back to bite him one day. "Perhaps someday, we can move onto canines."
Charm wasn't so sure about killing canines, showing that he still had some of his innocence in him. Slash quickly noticed this, just before Charm asked about it. "But we're canines too. Why do we have to kill our own kind?"
"Charm, we've already been over this." Slash knelt down to Charm, reminding him of what he told him before. "You don't wish to let your condition end your life, do you? Then you have to learn to kill at least one creature a month without remorse, no matter who or what they are." Charm nodded in understanding, despite still being unsure. Slash then reminded him of how proud he was to have killed the bird in his own two paws. "You enjoyed killing the bird just before I came in. Correct?"
Charm saw his father's point and nodded his head yes proudly. "Of course father!"
"Then you should have no problem killing canines once we start your training." Slash assured Charm, standing up and opening the door as he went to leave the room. "Now enjoy your lunch. And remember. Tell no one, about this." Slash then left the room, leaving Charm to think about what he said. He wished he could see his brother and mother, but his father informed him that this would be dangerous to his health. Hopefully one day, it would be possible to see them without hurting himself.
Back in Slash and Nora's room, Nora was holding Rocky as they looked out the window, and Rocky asked Nora, who was a Golden Retriever like Charm, about his brother. "Mommy? When is Charm gonna be safe to be around?"
Nora didn't want to disappoint her son, but she had to protect him. The information Slash gave her made her too scared to even go near Charm herself. "I hope someday soon Rocky. I'd love for you two to meet soon." Nora then laughed lightly as she brought up something Slash told her. "I overheard him insist to his father that he pour his own milk again."
"Really?" Rocky asked, wondering why Charm was so fond of doing everything himself. "Why didn't he want help?"
"Some children like doing things on their own son." Nora told Rocky, feeling that he would need to hear this for the future. Especially with a father as powerful as Slash. "Having independence is something we all adapt to one day. Charm is simply an early bloomer." Rocky understood what his mother was telling her. He was also glad he could hear about what Charm was like. He just wished he could see him in person. "Maybe we could start by asking Slash to let you meet Charm for your birthday next week."
Rocky became ecstatic when he heard that, hoping his mother wasn't filling him with false hope. "Really!? You mean it!?"
"I sure do. It would only be a short interaction, but I'm positive we can make it happen." Nora assured her son, deciding to act on these words right there and then. "Let's go ask him right now." Rocky cheered with joy over getting to meet his younger brother. He felt it would be a great day for both him and Charm to finally meet each other.
Slash was sitting on the couch in the living room, and had just finished another orchestrated attack on a village that was far away from Prison City. He turned off his phone and looked to Rocky and Nora as they entered the room, feigning delight in regards to seeing them. "Ah, Nora; Rocky. What may I do for you?"
"Well... we have, kind of a concerning request." Nora began, hoping that Slash would be okay with allowing her request to happen. "We know you said that giving too much affection to Charm would be dangerous for him, but do you think that, perhaps, we could let Rocky meet him for his birthday?"
Slash wasn't about to accept a request like that, but still allowed the discussion of this event to happen. "You're certain. With how much it could hurt him."
Rocky started to look worried, and Nora then assured Slash that it wouldn't be for too long. "It would only be for a couple minutes. They would have enough time to get to know each other, and when Charm is finally ready to go outside of his room, they can grow a real, brotherly bond." Slash's cold expression made it clear to Nora that he wasn't on board with it. He only wished he would at least consider letting it happen. He knew Nora had her suspicions about the methods they were using. "Please Slash. Rocky and Charm need a chance to know each other."
"You know what's at stake here Nora." Slash reminded Nora, making it seem as if he was truly doing this for Charm. "If we want to keep Charm safe, then we have to keep him from meeting anyone until his fifth birthday."
"But that's almost another year away!" Nora protested, and then she remembered she was holding Rocky and set him down, not wanting to fight in front of her son. "Go play in your room Rocky. Mommy and daddy need some alone time."
"Okay mommy!" Rocky hugged his mother, who hugged her affectionately as Rocky then ran off to his room to go play.
After Nora knew Rocky was out of earshot, she looked at Slash and tried to convince him to let Rocky meet Charm. "It doesn't even have to be an affectionate interaction. And Rocky won't even know the full story about Charm's condition; just like the doctors said."
"You've been telling Rocky stories about what I've been doing with Charm, correct?" Slash asked, hoping that Nora was remembering their agreement. "He should know plenty about Charm by this point."
Nora was telling Rocky those stories, but it wasn't enough. It wasn't a true connection between brothers. She continued to show her immense worry for her two sons. "Keeping him isolated in there still feels wrong. He needs a loving family, just like every other child. We can't even tell Rocky about his condition. All he knows is that Charm can't leave his room. And I haven't seen Charm since I finished breast feeding him."
Slash saw that Nora wasn't giving up easily, and put on a look that made it seem as if he was trying his best. He wanted to be absolutely sure Nora would lose this discussion and give into his words. "I promise Nora. Just until his fifth birthday. Then, they can meet."
Nora sighed, knowing that she wasn't going to win this argument. "Okay. But Rocky's not going to like it."
"He'll understand when he's older." Slash assured Nora, laughing to himself in his head over how he just tricked her again. He couldn't believe he'd been able to keep this up for four years now. It was almost as if the universe WANTED him to win. Nora still had her suspicions however, but she never found a good time to act upon them. She got an idea when Slash picked up his phone however. Perhaps she could find something in there that would help her see if what Slash was telling her was the truth, or something much different than what she was told.
The day before Rocky's 6th birthday...
Nora managed to get a hold of Slash's phone, and locked the bathroom door to get herself some answers. She checked Slash's messages with Trickery, knowing that he would be open about what he was discussing with him. She didn't find anything on that day that could expose him however. Perhaps there was a day closer to that day she could use the messages from. She scrolled up all the way to Charm's fourth birthday, and managed to find some messages about Charm. The most useful ones went as followed:
'If only you could start training him now.'
'Patience Trickery. Just a little less than a year, and Charm will be ready for the army.'
'I know my lord. I just wish Burner could help speed up the demon rising.'
That last message alarmed Nora the most, and she replied to it with this message, hoping Trickery would believe it.
'Do you believe Burner has been a great help to us?'
Nora then waited for a moment, hoping she could get an answer. She did after a few seconds, thankfully, and became horrified by what she learned.
'He was the one who's blood we used to bring evil to Charm. How could we not believe so?'
Nora knew she had Slash now. She saved a screenshot of the text she got and got ready to send more. She needed as much information as she could get off of Trickery.
Slash was in his and Nora's room looking over his Kingdom, looking for his phone in the hopes that no one stole it As he was doing this however, Nora came into the room and demanded his attention. "SLASH RALSTON!"
Nora closed the door roughly, but didn't quite slam it. Slash stood up to give his attention to her. "Yes darling?"
"Don't 'yes darling' me Slash!" Nora demanded, showing him the screenshot she took about using Burner's blood on Charm. "What have you been doing to our son!?"
Slash tried to weasel his way out of this, hoping he could convince Nora that it was nothing. "It's nothing Nora. And you had no right to steal my phone."
"I'm glad I did." Nora read out some more after pulling the phone away as Slash tried to grab it. "Just listen to this! 'The demon blood sure is working like a charm, no pun intended.'? 'I hope Charm makes as good of a war weapon as we think he will.'? 'This artificial sadism should be able to overpower his natural self so easily.'!?" Slash knew he was caught now, and Nora turned to him as she called him out on it. "I guess it's a good thing your right hand has no problem being verbal about your plans with you! There IS no condition, is there! Tell me the truth Slash! Right now!"
"If you pipe down, then I will!" Slash demanded, and Nora obliged, allowing Slash to explain what happened. As he did, Nora became more and more horrified and disgusted."On the day Charm was born, Trickery and I used the help of a demon we acquired named Burner to inject pure demon blood into Charm. Originally, we were just using him to experiment on this half demon he conceived with a human before he escaped with his mother. But we managed to convince him to help us turn Charm into the ultimate weapon of war. A sadistic, ruthless killer."
Nora was furious, throwing Slash's phone at him, which he caught instantly. She then got in his face, being so blind by her rage towards him that she failed to see him getting ready to time a recording. "I SHOULD'VE KNOWN YOU WERE LYING THIS WHOLE TIME! THIS WAS NEVER FOR CHARM! YOU WERE JUST USING HIM TO HELP YOU RULE THE WORLD WITH THE DEMON RACE! AND WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT US!? WAS I SIMPLY BLINDED BY FALSE LOVE THIS WHOLE TIME!?" Slash didn't deny that. This made Nora even more hurt and angry.
"THAT DOES IT!" Slash started recording, which Nora failed to notice. Slash knew he could use these words against her. "AFTER ROCKY'S BIRTHDAY, I'M KEEPING YOU AS FAR AWAY FROM OUR CHILDREN AS POSSIBLE! NOTHING YOU SAY CAN STOP ME!" Slash stopped recording, and Nora then turned around, leaving the room in a huff as she started planning out what she was going to do.
Once again, Slash was lucky the walls were so thick. "I'll let you know when I start filing for the divorce! I hope any guilt you're feeling right now crushes you!" Nora slammed the door behind her, failing to realize that Slash had planned on the spot for this exact moment. He looked at the recording, which he already knew what he was going to do with.
In Charm's room, Slash was letting Charm listen to the recording he got of Nora stating that she was taking him and Rocky away. "AFTER ROCKY'S BIRTHDAY, I'M KEEPING YOU AS FAR AWAY FROM OUR CHILDREN AS POSSIBLE! NOTHING YOU SAY CAN STOP ME!"
Charm was shocked when he heard that, unaware that his father was using him, and not wanting to lose him. "But I don't wanna lose you daddy!"
Slash pretended to empathize with Charm as he told him of a way they could avoid this. "Don't worry Charm. We can stop this." Charm listened closely as Slash held out a knife and handed it to him. "Tomorrow morning, you will kill your mother. And if Rocky sees you, you must kill him too." This horrified Charm to no end. He didn't want to kill anyone he loved. Especially not his own mother. "I know it will be hard son, but it's for your own good. If she leaves with you and Rocky, you won't be able to control your condition, and you'll eventually die."
"But I don't wanna kill them!" Charm exclaimed, still loving his mom and brother, despite now knowing Rocky, and being under the impression that his mother was doing something that would hurt him. "Even if mummy doesn't understand, they doesn't deserve-"
"She DOES understand Charm." Slash interrupted, and then he lied about what Nora truly thought of him. "She has always favored Rocky over you. She was always okay with the fact that she couldn't show any love for you. She doesn't care. I tried to stop her, but she doesn't care that this will kill you." If only Charm knew what his father was actually doing. Since he was so young, he was falling for this hook line and sinker. "You have to kill her for your own sake. And, for the army."
Charm held the knife, seething with rage over what his father told him. Slash could tell how well he was able to set him off. Charm looked at his father with a sadistic grin, which proved he was close to awakening the true sadism Charm had from the demon blood. "If you say so father."
Slash gave a grin himself, glad that he was able to make his son fall into his manipulation. "Good." Slash then started explaining to Charm a simple, yet effective plan. "You will have to be sneaky to pull this off."
The next day, on Rocky's 6th birthday...
Slash was waiting for Trickery in his and Nora's room, and the Kishu was right on time as Slash sent Charm off with the knife. Charm didn't see Trickery appear in the room, and Slash then turned to Trickery as Charm closed the door almost all the way. Slash failed to notice the little crack Charm left by accident. "Brilliant timing Trickery. I'll introduce you to my impressionable offspring after he goes through with the plan."
"Sounds wonderful my lord." Trickery said in response, being delighted to meet Charm at last. Slash then handed him a remote, which Trickery had never seen the kind of before. "What is this?"
"It's a remote that controls Charm's demon blood specifically." Slash informed Trickery, letting him know of his last resort just in case he was killed. "Burner spent six months making absolute certain that it only affected Charm. This will keep him from attempting to overthrow me if he kills me."
Trickery took note of that as Slash then informed him of something else. "Don't forget Slash. Even after Burner revives you, that half demon from his former spouse is still out there."
"When I'm done with his training, he'll be strong enough to defeat anyone who comes into his path. The only one who can defeat him, will be me." Little did Slash know, that Rocky was there listening. He was heading there to say good morning to his parents, but instead was greeted to the words that would haunt him in the future. "And remember. If Charm learns out about this action, the effects will be reversed." Rocky listened a little more closely, and while he didn't see who his father was talking to, he made it out pretty well. "Don't let him find out. Ever."
Rocky was shocked by what he'd heard, and he felt he'd have to act quickly, rushing off to the kitchen to warn his mother. When he heard her scream of terror, he rushed even faster. Rocky coming into the kitchen to find that Charm had stabbed their mother. He was horrified, and Charm was looking down at her with an indifferent expression.
Charm then gave a sadistic grin as he looked to Rocky and aimed his knife at him without hesitation. "The favorite child will join her soon!" Charm started chasing after Rocky, who ran away as fast as he could with the half wolf jumping out of the nearest window. It was a lot higher than he anticipated however, and he ended up falling into the water. Since he couldn't swim, this meant he ended up sinking. Charm saw this from the window and became ecstatic before running off to meet his father. "Father! I did it!"
Slash had done it. Charm's connection to his innocence... was lost.
Little did Charm know however, that a Bernese Mountain Dog pup saw what happened and rushed towards the water. He jumped into the water in an attempt to save Rocky.
Two and a half years before Wolfland...
Charm was at his base as he thought about the next plan he came up with regarding his mission to cause others pain and suffering. This was around the time when he was planning his attempt to infiltrate Barkingburg and bring Claw into his domain. However, it was in a base different from Prison City, since he had to blow that base up after the Paw Patrol saved Everest. Charm was adapting quite well, and Trickery took notice of that as he saw the Golden Retriever looking over the monitors. "Don't worry my lord. I'll keep your condition in check better than your father did."
"Thank you Trickery. I can always count on you." Charm responded gratefully and Trickery then got a text from someone and took out his phone. It was from Slash, who was just revived by Burner according to the text:
'Burner just revived me! Use the device, now! The Demon Rising will live on!'
Luckily, Trickery still had the device, and took it from Prison City as soon as he left with Slash's previously deceased body. He pressed the button, and even though Charm didn't have the motivation now, this would prevent him from trying to overthrow his father in the future. Charm felt something weird in his body when this happened. It was almost as if something was molding him in some way. "Trickery! I'm feeling weird all of a sudden. Would you mind fetching the medicine for me?"
"Yes my lord." Trickery put the device away as he asked about the pain some more. "What would you say it feels the most like?"
"Definitely an inside burn." Charm answered, and then he let Trickery know which medicine he wanted. "See if we have any medicine to help with that." Trickery headed off to get the medicine for Charm, who was unaware that he was the cause of it. At this point in time, Charm would never suspect him of anything, even if there was vague evidence. Trickery was the only canine he trusted. The only canine he considered a friend. If only he knew that Trickery's friendship was disingenuous. Just a facade he was ordered to put up by Slash.
Present day...
Charm finished reading the first of many chapters in Slash's journal; the one that told of how Slash and Trickery injected him with Burner's demon blood. His anger was as high as it could possibly get. He was simply enraged by this revelation. This entire time, for the past eleven years, his father was controlling his every move. He spent seven years being cold, sadistic, and ruthless, and his desire to do so was made from demon blood! He never even had a choice! His father had been dictating his every move this whole time, and he didn't even realize it until now!
Charm used everything he had to avoid damaging the journal, which became even harder when he heard Trickery's voice upon the Kishu entering the room with his breakfast. "Good morning Charm! I hope you're-" Trickery noticed rather quickly how enraged Charm was, and the Golden Retriever set down the journal as soon as he did. Trickery wasn't sure how to respond. At least until he noticed the journal. It couldn't be. The one thing he feared most. "Charm! I-it's not what it looks like!"
"Oh really!?" Charm shouted as he hopped off of his bed, finding it impossible to believe Trickery after all of the time he's been deceiving him. "Because that page I read of you assisting my father in tainting my body with demon blood seems pretty real to me!"
Trickery didn't have a good defense for that, and instead tried to convince Charm not to hurt him. "I was only listening to your father my lord! That's all!"
"My name, is Charm!" Charm declared, and Trickery set his breakfast down and closed the door as Charm glared at him. Charm wanted more context, and he knew Slash wouldn't tell him anything. "I never had to kill to live, did I! I could've been a normal kid if not for you!" Trickery attempted to pull out one of his cards, only for Charm to pull out one himself to stun him. "Not so fast!" Trickery was stunned to find that Charm had some of his cards. He should've realized that sooner upon further though. "How long have you been planning this with my father for?"
Trickery knew he wasn't getting out of this, and he also knew Charm wasn't going to believe him over anything but the truth. He decided to just give him what he wanted when he reached for his gun. "We've been planning it since before you were born!"
Charm stopped, being even more shocked that this was premeditated. It further increased his anger when he learned that fact. Despite that, he tried his best to contain his anger. "That soon?"
"We'd always dreamed of ruling the world with demons! When Slash and Nora found out they were having a second child, Slash knew he couldn't miss the same opportunity he did with Rocky!" Trickery explained, seeing Charm's whole world shatter before him as he realized what this meant. "He made a deal with Richie's father that would give you his demon blood!"
Charm clenched his fists, and his anger was reaching it's highest point. It was already at an incredibly high point, but this was unlike anything he'd ever felt before. It felt even worse than when he lost to the Paw Patrol at Prison City. At least he knew how to bounce back from that. This was a plan that lasted before his birth, and turned him into a puppet for his father's weaponry. "So... for these past eleven years... I was being used as a puppet for my father's obsession with being a demon overlord!?"
Trickery only knew one response to give Charm. The only one he knew he would believe. "Y-yes."
Charm needed more answers, needing to know that he read everything in the journal page correctly. "And this demon blood I was injected with! That's what made me into a sadistic monster!?" Trickery nodded his head yes in response, and Charm was on the brink of losing his mind as he thought about the last part. "For these past eleven years... you and my father have been using the demon blood to transform me into a remorseless, murdering war weapon!?"
"Yes! It's all true!" Trickery cried out, and that was the tipping point for Charm. He started to laugh softly, much to Trickery's surprise. This wasn't the reaction he expected, and Charm's laughter was rising more and more. Trickery knew this was from anger however, and tried to calm him down. Albeit, by making him think he would help him atone for his sins. "Don't worry Charm! You're still young! I'm sure if you feel bad about-"
Charm stopped laughing and gave a sadistic grin to Trickery as he told him that wasn't what was on his mind. "Oh no Trickery. I don't feel bad about the killings I've done; you and father made sure of that!" Trickery saw how Charm was refusing to listen to him. Seven years of trust broken at the cost of a plan that should've been foiled long ago. "These past eleven years of your life, and my fathers, made absolute sure I wouldn't feel bad about causing others pain! That's what happens when you help drive the someone's connection to their innocence out of them, isn't that right!?"
Trickery chuckled lightly, leaving Charm to stomp his foot on the ground as he stated what he was truly enraged about. "I AM HOWEVER, FURIOUS THAT MY BEST FRIEND LIED TO ME, AND USED ME AS MY FATHER'S GENOCIDE CAUSING PUPPET! THE FACT THAT I'VE BEEN EXPLOITED FOR MY WHOLE LIFE ENRAGES ME MORE THAN ANYTHING!"
Trickery was horrified of what Charm was going to do to him, leaving Charm to give a sadistic grin as he grabbed his gun. He was more than happy to bring up another part of the situation that he had his mind on. "I'm also disappointed in myself for not realizing a lie so obvious a lot sooner! If I learned he was conquering my free will, even after I killed him, I wouldn't have helped him with his dirty work!"
Charm started approaching Trickery, who was still frozen in place, hoping Charm wasn't about to do what he thought he was. "Charm! What are you doing!?"
Charm already had a new goal in mind. One he was glad Trickery wouldn't be involved in. "I suppose you're about to die anyway." Charm stepped right up to Trickery and turned the safety off of his gun as he continued. "I'm going to memorize all of the knowledge in this journal, and use it to kill my father. Then, I'm going to carve a new path that doesn't enable the demon blood I was injected with. And after that? Will I find my humanity again? Well... I guess we'll see what the future holds."
Charm then aimed his gun at Trickery with a look that showed his former respect for the Kishu having been lost. "Farewell Trickery."
BANG
Charm was currently writing something down in his own journal. Something that he thought would help him in the long run. 'For the longest time... I thought embracing my sadism was because of my condition.' Charm looked at the fake doctor's notes he got off of Trickery before continuing to write some more. 'I'm disappointed in myself for not realizing my father's lie sooner.' Charm then scoffed as he looked back on a memory from the past. 'And to think Trickery was in on it, even when he was all I had. I can't believe how blind I was.'
What Charm wrote next made it clear to him how he viewed himself regarding the situation. 'I was stupid to have ever believed him. That taking lives would stop this 'condition' he claimed I had from taking mine. No. Everything I've done was because he was using me as a puppet for his desire to bring demons to the real world, and rule over them himself in his worldwide utopia. I actually let my own father toy with me for seven years. It should've been so obvious.'
Charm continued to write, and this next piece made it clear that he knew this wouldn't be easy for him. 'The fact that this side of me isn't my own, and instead comes from pure demon blood, doesn't absolve me of my crimes. And I know it will be grueling to find what I want now. Even after I learn what that is beyond freedom from my demon blood. But I know one thing for absolute certain.' Charm then finished up his writing, showing his burning desire to rebel against the demon blood. 'I will. Find my lost. Humanity.'
Charm showed a hint of fear over whether or not he could ever reconnect with his lost innocence, or humanity. But he knew he had to at least try. He closed his journal and set it on his bed before getting up, grabbing some matches from his side table, and taking Trickery and the fake doctor's notes with him. He didn't want any trace of Trickery around, and decided to burn his body. And after that, he would get ready to kill his father, and hopefully, have a life outside of the demon blood's influence.
To be continued.
Rock music played as Chase started speaking in regards to what was going to happen with specific moments from the next chapter being shown. "After what happened last night, I imagine Rocky's even more desperate for closure than he was before. And we still need something to help us out with our demon knowledge. Flare; Marshall; are you two ready for this? Charm may have gotten a hold of Slash's journal, but we have to hope there's something else here that can get us what we need."
Chase finished the announcement with the words Paw Patrol in all blue with red outlines surrounded with a white border with Flare on the right, and Marshall on the left. "Next time, The Aftermath of Charm's Infiltration! (Rocky and Zuma were shown playing with Rubble and Tracker at Bonita's house while she was at work.) Don't you worry everyone. We're gonna work twice as hard now!"
