Paw Patrol X
Demon Defense arc Episode ten: When Goals Align
It's been a month since the Paw Patrol first arrived in Wolfland, and Rocky had Zuma blindfolded as he guided him to a lake near Wolfland. Even though Zuma knew it was a surprise, he still wanted at least a hint at what Rocky was doing for him. "You suwe you can't even give me a little hint?"
"I'm absolutely positive." Rocky answered, and then when he and Zuma arrived to where they were, he took off the blindfold. "Especially since we're here right now!"
Zuma was definitely surprised to say the least, even if it wasn't anything flashy. It was a canoe that was sitting right next to a lake. Zuma was grateful, but he didn't exactly get why Rocky was doing this. "Thanks Wocky, but what's this all about?"
"Can't I just do something nice for my boyfriend?" Rocky asked, and then he blushed softly before admitting to what he was actually doing. "Actually, no; you have me. I know this past month has had a lot about me stressing about finding out what my dad did to Charm, and me not wanting to be like my dad, so I thought this would be a good break for us. No family drama, no fighting demons, just a special 'I'm really sorry I keep shoving my problems down your throat' canoe ride!"
"Cuddles!" Zuma hugged Rocky and kissed him on the cheek before assuring him that he didn't mind helping him one bit. "Wocky, I've known about this desiwe of yours for five yeaws." After getting that reminder, Rocky and Zuma went over to the canoe. "I'd never leave you over something this pewsonal to you."
"And I appreciate every bit of that." Rocky assured Zuma as the two then pushed the canoe into the water. "I just feel bad about how involved you are sometimes. Sure I'm also ready to help you find out if we can get Paleclaw back, but at some points, it feels like I'm using you to keep this from getting unhealthy, even though I'm not trying to."
Zuma saw how bad Rocky felt about this, deciding to reassure him with a smile as the two got into the canoe. "I haven't felt like I was being used by you once since we met. Fwom when I stawted helping you with Nicky, all the way up to now, it was all my choice." Rocky smiled gratefully in response as Zuma then looked into his eyes while sitting across from him. "And I've loved evewy moment of that so far."
Rocky took the oars as he thanked Zuma for being the most supportive boyfriend ever. "So have I. Just... know that I love you more than anything Zuma." Rocky then started rowing the canoe off with Zuma smiling in a way that showed he believed his words. Although finding the truth about Charm was Rocky's primary goal right now, he still knew that everything he told him was true.
Back at the motel hut, Flare headed into Snow and Everest's room, where he saw Snow contemplating something while drawing. She was sitting on her bed as she drew, and Flare knocked on her door to see what she was up to. "It's open!"
Flare entered the room with his usual cheerful smile, walking over to Snow as he reminded her of the day that was coming up. "Someone's birthday is coming up in a week! I hope she's excited for it!"
"Flare, of course I'm excited for my own birthday." Snow assured Flare, hoping she could focus on it with everything that's been going on lately. "I just hope the past month we've spent protecting Wolfland doesn't end up being for nothing."
Flare got that, and then saw what Snow was drawing and figured that might've been related to it. "Is that why you were so deep in thought during your drawing session?"
"Hehe. Spot on as always." Snow showed Flare her drawing, and it was of her, Flare, Marshall, and Everest together with the words 'Show The Wolves Our Courage!' above it. "This will be what we manage to do if everything goes well." Snow then frowned, which concerned Flare. "It's kind of hard to think it will sometimes."
Flare sat down on Snow's bed, wanting to help her feel better about this. "Hey, come on Snow. Look at what we've survived so far. If we can defeat Charm twice, and survive a demon attack, then I think we have the right to say we've got a good chance of doing what we promised."
Snow did have a thought on her mind when Flare mentioned Charm. She wanted to know what he thought about the investigation he was doing with Chase and Marshall about him. "Actually, about Charm." Flare listened closely, and when Snow looked at him, she asked him a question that he wasn't sure how to answer. "Do you think Charm changing for the better is possible?"
Flare struggled to answer that for a bit. He didn't wanna sound insensitive when he gave his response. The team's history with Charm played a big part in that. "I can't say for sure." Snow heard Flare out, knowing that he was trying to think of everyone here. "I want to believe Rocky's right because he's so determined to find out what happened to Charm. But at the same time, the stuff he heard Slash say seven years ago, and the fact that he wasn't the best parent, are the only things we have to go off of. Well, that, and Charm apparently having Rocky and Richie's healing ability."
Snow saw what Flare was getting at, and Flare then showed that even when he was at his most empathetic, he still tried to be rational. "I think I'll need to see him show that he can be a good canine first. Or if he wants to change."
Snow didn't wanna disappoint Flare, but she didn't think that was gonna be easy to come across. "There aren't a lot of scenarios where that'd be available to us Flare."
"Probably not. But that doesn't mean there aren't any at all." Snow giggled a bit at Flare's optimism, and then he decided to get their minds off of this to take her somewhere relaxing as he hopped off of Snow's bed. "Anyway, you wanna go for a walk somewhere near Wolfland before dinner?"
"Sure. I could use some nature time right now." Snow answered, hopping off of her bed and walking with Flare to get some outside time.
Meanwhile, at Charm's base, Charm was collecting some anti-demon weapons he had his scientists make. The lead scientist, who was a Border Collie, finished some kind of bomb as she asked Charm about his goals. "Here's the last of the Demon Blinding Bombs Charm. But are you sure you should be doing this now?"
"I've told you already Mackenzie; that's coming after I kill my father. Again." Charm informed his lead scientist, showing a more conflicted side that showed how worried he was about how this would turn out. "I just can't focus on anything else right now while he's out there with the demon army looking for my base. Until I kill that worthless, hell driven worm known as my father, I have to put it on hold. If I want to rediscover my lost humanity, then I need it to be the only thing on my mind so I can guarantee complete focus. I can't risk getting this wrong."
Mackenzie felt that made sense, but she still wanted to see some effort from Charm. "Just make sure you put in the effort at all. I know you were never the best canine, but I want to believe you can feel like a real kid."
Mackenzie wanting to believe in Charm hit the Golden Retriever with the same spark as before. He shook it off again, despite knowing what he needed now. "I'll need to hope I can receive true kindness like the journal said to make that happen." Charm then spoke a little more about what he felt he had to do to reconnect with his lost humanity. "And a part of me feels like I'll need guidance. But that can wait until after my father's dead." Charm then took all of his weapons and went off, still trying to be less rude than before. "Anyway, thanks for crafting what I needed."
Charm went to leave the lab, only for Mackenzie to stop him by saying his name. "Charm?" Charm looked back at Mackenzie, who smiled to him to assure him of one more thing. "It's going to be hard, but don't let that stop you from trying."
"As if I didn't already know that." Charm replied coldly, feeling that Mackenzie should've guessed he already knew that. He then turned around before responding to what she had to say. "Just... keep being better than Trickery, okay?" Charm then set off with Mackenzie nodding before the automatic door to the lab closed. Charm then gave a sadistic grin as he went for the entrance of his base. "You'd better be ready for me father! This will be the last time I ever use the sadistic side you gave me!" Despite not wanting to, he knew he'd have to for this mission.
Rocky and Zuma were still in the canoe with Zuma thinking about a melody that could fit the mood for the evening. Rocky heard him humming to himself and continued to row the boat as he asked about it. "What're you humming there sweetheart?"
Zuma snapped out of his humming and smiled before telling Rocky what it was that he was humming. "Just a tune I stawted thinking about. If I bwought my guitaw with me, I could start playing it."
"I didn't wanna risk letting the water ruin it." Rocky admitted while blushing a bit, knowing that Zuma would prefer missing one tune as opposed to losing his guitar. Zuma got that, and then Rocky asked him how he was enjoying the evening. "So is this as romantic as it looked?"
"You bet it is." Zuma told Rocky, finding that nothing they could've done today could've topped what they were doing now. "You guys always nail it with suwpwises." Rocky giggled a bit before Zuma then started to think about how long they've been here for. His parents and Melody were still waiting for him to return to Adventure Bay. He missed them more than anyone else back home. When Rocky noticed, he apologized, hoping he didn't ruing the mood. "Sowwy, just, thinking about my pawents and sistew."
"No no no, it's okay." Rocky assured Zuma, knowing that being away from his loved ones for this long must be hard for him. "I don't think any of us expected to be out here for this long."
Zuma nodded his head no, showing that he didn't expect it either. "I'm glad we've been able to pwotect Wolfland so far, but I hope we can head back soon." Rocky stopped rowing for a bit and hugged Zuma for comfort, much to his appreciation. He then wrapped his arms around Rocky before laughing a bit. As tender as the moment was, Zuma found it kinda funny that Rocky was the one initiating the cuddles this time. He really knew that his loving personality was what he loved from him.
Meanwhile, Flare and Snow were continuing their walk with Flare noticing a flower bed he could use something from. "Perfect!" Flare ran over to the flower bed with Snow noticing and running over with him. Flare took out the nearly dead daisy in his right ear and picked a new one to put in. Snow felt happy for Flare when she saw this. She knew how much having a daisy in his right ear meant to him since he moved to Adventure Bay. "I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it this time!"
Snow saw an opportunity to see if she was still able to keep her promise to Flare. It helped that she loved whatever she was able to do with him. "Can I put it in for you?"
"Sure! Just be careful." Flare advised Snow as she handed her the daisy. Snow made sure of that and paid close attention to Flare's right ear. She carefully aligned the daisy and put it into his ear just right. He felt it was just right too, and as he looked at it, he was quick to compliment Snow's work. "Now just look at that Snow! You're a natural!" Flare then noticed Snow's blush, which caused him to look away in response. Flare then blushed as well, smiling as he looked at the Husky. He then started to say something. "Snow. I think now's a good time to-"
As Flare was about to tell Snow what was on his mind however, he and Snow felt a familiar presence close to where they were. When the two noticed, Snow was quick to check and see if Flare felt what they were up against. "You feel that too?"
Flare nodded his head yes, and then he remembered the trail they were on and quickly tried to inform Snow about it. "Wait; this is the same trail we took to find-"
Charm then emerged from a nearby bush, leaving Flare and Snow shocked as he then ran towards Wolfland. Flare was quick to step in his path, since he was closer to Charm. "Stop right there Charm!"
Charm admired Flare's bravery, but he had to smirk at how this would make him look in the end. "Do you really think you can stop me?"
"I have a pretty good idea." Flare responded, and Snow noticed Slash's journal and started sneaking over in an attempt to take it. "I've put in a lot of intense training since we last met two years ago. And now, I'm pretty confident I'm as skilled as you were back then."
Snow tried to reach for the journal on Charm's weapon belt, only for Charm to snatch it when he noticed her. "Congratulations! You're still weaker than the last two creatures I fought and barely survived."
Flare noticed the journal too, wondering what Charm could need with it. "What were you taking Slash's journal into Wolfland for? Wouldn't he do everything he could to take it back?"
"Obviously. That's why he refrained from killing me three weeks ago; I was the only one who knew where it was." Charm then saw his patience running out, and Snow dodge rolled away from his back kick before Flare aimed a punch at him, which he dodged swiftly. He then grabbed Flare's paw and threw him over his shoulder. Flare yelped when his back hit the ground, but he then used this to his advantage to low sweep Charm. This did lead to Charm throwing Flare to the side after the low sweep connected, but Flare was able to recover rather swiftly.
Charm had to admit; Flare had gotten a lot better since they last met. Snow then took the chance to jump kick him, which he dodged successfully. She then regained her stance and charged at Charm, aiming three swift punches at him. He barely managed to dodge the last one and grab it. "Well now. You truly have improved."
Charm kicked Snow to the side, but she regained her balance with Flare declaring his refusal to let Charm get to Wolfland. "Give it up Charm! We're not gonna let you hurt anyone in Wolfland!"
"Believe it or not, my motivation lies elsewhere." Charm informed Flare, turning with a scowl as he thought about his father. "And I'm not going to waste my time explaining, so you'd best not try stopping me!" Charm dashed off, leaving Flare and Snow to look at each other and turn on their invisibility charms. They knew it'd be hard to pull off, but they had to at least try to keep Charm in check. Snow also sent a text to Ryder just to make sure he was up to date.
Rocky and Zuma were still having their canoe ride with Rocky noticing that it was only a few minutes to sunset. Knowing Flare would hate it if they missed dinner, and unaware of what he and Snow were up to, Rocky felt it'd be best to head back. "We should head back now Zuma. Flare's gonna go crazy if we go hungry."
"Hehe. Heading back now it is then." Zuma responded, and then he and Rocky felt something dangerous nearby as Rocky started rowing back to shore. They hoped it wasn't anything they couldn't handle. "You feel that Wocky?"
Rocky nodded his head yes, and then he saw what looked like a demon and instantly jumped to protect Zuma. "Get down!" Rocky jumped into the water with Zuma, and the demon he spotted was unable to go in. He was patient however, and waited for the right moment to look for his two culprits. Rocky and Zuma managed to get back to shore with Rocky continuing to make sure that Zuma was safe. He was immune, but Zuma wasn't, so he needed extra protection against demons. "You okay Zuma?"
Zuma caught his breath along with Rocky as they looked around for the demon. "Yeah. I think so." Rocky and Zuma then started holding paws as they headed back to Wolfland. "Thanks Wocky."
Rocky was about to respond, only for the demon to suddenly appear next to Zuma and slash his arm. This caused him to yelp as he flew to the side, making Rocky horrified as he saw him down on the ground. "ZUMA!" Rocky's anger intensified at that moment, and he dodged the demon's slash to tackle him and pin him to the ground. The demon was strong, so Rocky ended up getting kicked off after noticing the name 'Paleclaw', which led to him picking up Zuma and running off.
The demon chased after Rocky, who threw down a smoke bomb to avoid being followed for much longer. The demon was unable to detect him thanks to the smoke, getting thrown off as Rocky then thought about the demon name he saw. 'That was Paleclaw! But why did his demon come after Zuma?"
Zuma looked a little weak, but once he and Rocky arrived back to Wolfland, he touched Rocky's shoulder and assured him that he could still walk. "Thanks for being my knight in fluffy fuw Wolfy, but I can walk here."
"If you insist." Rocky responded, setting Zuma down as they headed back to the motel hut. "Let me know if you need another lift." Zuma nodded in response, heading off with Rocky to get to safety away from any other demons. The last thing they needed was another attack.
Flare and Snow were still following Charm, making sure to keep their distance while also not losing focus. Charm managed to evade detection with Flare and Snow unable to figure out what he was up to. When he arrived at Slash's office however, they got a good idea. They went right next to him to eavesdrop on the situation. They saw Charm listening closely, and figured he needed information on something big.
Slash was in his office as he got a notification on his phone from Burner regarding use of the demons. When he saw that Zuma was infected by Paleclaw, he couldn't help but grin devilishly. It seemed as if his plan of waiting to incapacitate the Paw Patrol was following the exact route he wished for. "One member down, many more to go. And tonight's attack will prove useful for that."
Charm growled in response, leaving Flare to turn off his invisibility charm. This shocked Snow, but was then followed up by Flare getting Charm's attention with a whisper. "Is that what you really came to Wolfland for?"
Charm was startled when Flare got his attention, but quickly composed himself and confirmed this to be the reason. Good thing they were hiding in shrubs near the window. "That's right. The last thing I need is for him to have power over all demons." Charm felt no reason to bring up what Slash did to him. His motivations for stopping Slash weren't important at the moment. "I have no interest in using demons, let alone enabling what he has planned. Now where's Ryder?"
Snow turned off her invisibility charm before making it clear that she didn't trust Charm. "Why should we tell you?"
"Would you rather give my father the ability to rule over the entire planet with demons?" Charm asked, turning to a page in the journal after taking it out that explained this part of the plan. "Here's his own writing if you don't believe me." Since Flare and Snow knew this was the real thing, they felt it was only fair to give it a look. After giving each other nods of confidence to make sure they were on the same page that is. Charm then remembered where they were and felt a better location would be suitable. "Actually, I just realized it's far too risky to discuss it here."
Flare and Snow realized quickly that Charm was right. Flare got an idea that he hoped wouldn't be too risky. "We'll take you back to the motel hut we're staying at, but don't try anything violent. We're not the only two who have gotten stronger, and if you try anything, Chase, Ryder, and Richie could easily hold their own against you, if not beat you."
Charm expected a lack of trust, but didn't bother to let it linger. He was more impressed with how much smarter Flare was from before. "Good to know. Now let's move." And with that, the three pups headed off, leaving Flare and Snow unsure if they would be able to trust Charm.
The rest of the Paw Patrol were back at the motel hut with Ryder and Richie patching up Zuma's scratched arm. They knew it wouldn't stop him from turning, but they hoped they could at least make it less painful for him. Ryder comforted Zuma as he let him know that they wouldn't let this last. "We'll find out how to turn you back Zuma. You won't go out as a demon."
Zuma appreciated the reassurance, but then showed uncertainty over the situation, which seemingly stemmed over his concern of keeping his promises to Rocky and Paleclaw. "Will we weally be able to leawn how to tuwn me back though? And if you do, what if it takes too long, and by the time you help me tuwn back, evewything's changed?"
"That won't happen Zuma." Rocky assured Zuma, putting a paw on his good paw as he let him know that he'd never want anyone but him. "Maybe some things will, but one thing that won't change is my love for you." Zuma couldn't help being touched by what Rocky was telling him. It only further confirmed his already perfect view on their love. "No matter how long it takes, I'll do everything I can to change you back. I will never, give up on you. Ever."
Rocky and Zuma shared a passionate kiss in the moment, and after five seconds, Flare, Snow, and Charm came back with Flare announcing the return. "We're back! And we have some new info!"
The sight of Charm alerted the others, especially Claw, who took the nearest knife and went in to attack. "Get away from my friends Charm!"
Flare and Snow didn't even have time to inform the others. Charm dashed past them and disarmed Claw before holding his arm behind his back. He was starting to dislocate it then and there with Chase and Marshall about to step in to help, only for Flare to put his paw up and stop them. As he did this, making it clear to Charm that he wasn't gonna work with him if he hurt his friends. "Let him go Charm! I know Claw attacked you first, but you're not breaking anyone's arm!"
Charm sighed and let go of Claw, who Snow then helped up and back over to the others. Everyone else was surprised to see Charm listen to Flare without hesitation. That was something no one expected to happen, for him, or for anyone else. Charm then thought to himself about how hard this was going to be for him. 'Come on Charm! You have to remember! No more sadistic actions!' Charm then hid his desire to reconnect with his lost humanity and got down to business. "Believe my words or don't; I don't care! I came here because we have aligning goals that involve this!"
Charm pulled out Slash's journal, catching everyone's attention with Rocky going to grab it from Charm in the hopes that he was willing to help. "That's dad's journal!"
Charm pulled the journal away, letting Rocky know that this wasn't a one way deal. "And even with the knowledge in it, I can't stop him on my own. So you help me, and I'll help you."
Charm looked at Ryder, who sighed in response, knowing that they needed the info. "Fine. But I'm on my guard if you try to attack us." Charm nodded before setting the journal down to the page he was going to show Flare and Snow earlier. It was from around two and a half years ago, and Charm handed it to Ryder so he could read it out. "Charm may have killed me before his defeat at the hands of the Paw Patrol, but that doesn't mean he's stopped me for long. Now that Burner has revived me, all I have to do is select a new location to begin my demon rising in!?"
Since Flare and Snow knew their word would be needed, Snow was quick to let them know that Charm was showing them the truth. "We heard Slash bring it up right outside his office. Apparently, he plans to attack Wolfland with the intent to increase the chances for this demon rising's success tonight."
"He really IS in charge of the demons!" Rocky exclaimed, having suspected him from the start, and not being surprised by the revelation. Instead, he was furious as he realized what this meant and clenched his fist. "This means the demon who attacked Zuma was under his control!"
Charm nodded his head yes, and Chase then started apologizing to Rocky and Zuma, despite not being at fault for this. "I'm so sorry guys. I knew you were doing that canoe thing, and I should've gone too. Maybe we could've-"
"Hey! This isn't your fault Chase!" Skye told Chase lovingly but sternly, not wanting him to blame himself for something he had no involvement in. "You had no control over what the demons were going to do."
Skye grabbed Chase's paw for comfort, and the genuine affection sparked something in Charm once again. He managed to shake it off when Marshall asked him a question. "Hey Charm?" When Charm looked at Marshall, he could see that he was genuinely confused about this, despite being scared by his presence. "Why did you come to us with knowledge on what Slash is doing? I mean, it helps, but we didn't think you'd ever try to help us over worldwide takeover."
Charm already figured he'd have to explain himself, so he did so as he turned to an earlier mention of the demon rising. "I have no interest in being King of anything Marshall. Being ruler of the world proves no purpose to me." Charm kept the revenge part hidden for now, feeling no point in mentioning his personal link to Slash's goals. Plus, he knew his desire for revenge and to reconnect with his humanity wouldn't help with stopping him. "And despite our history, the thought of my father ruling over the whole planet with demons leaves me utterly disgusted."
Rubble got a good look at Charm, making sure he was gonna avoid doing anything bad before crossing his arms. "So you're Charm. You don't look very evil."
"It makes a lot more sense when you know what I've done." Charm informed Rubble, who kept that in mind for questions to ask him later down the line.
Zuma's uncertainty showed again when he brought up a chance that Charm could betray them. "I don't know about this guys. How do we know Chawm didn't fowge this stuff?"
Charm scoffed before getting in Zuma's face and informing him of all the work he did to prevent his father's tyranny. "I spent three weeks doing nothing but training, and memorizing everything in this journal; you'll have to take what you can-"
Zuma then started choking Charm in a sudden act of violence, which everyone, especially Rocky, was surprised to see, even with who they were seeing it happen to. Richie was quick to remind Zuma that they needed Charm alive to pull this off. "Let go of him Zuma. I know he's dangerous, but he has all the information on demons that we don't. And we can't even tell for sure if this journal is different from the one Slash was writing in. If Charm knows a way to take the demons down, then we have to at least learn it from him before fighting again."
Remembering the obligation they all had, Zuma let go of Charm, who gasped for air with Rocky checking to see if they were both okay. Once Charm caught his breath, he was quick to inform everyone what he thought of that. "Okay! I'm just going to assume that's his demon turning trait kicking in!" Ryder held out his hand, being prepared to make a deal with Charm. They both knew they'd have to join forces to stop Slash. Charm knew this as well, and shook Ryder's paw, making the alliance official. As expected, most of the Paw Patrol were unsure how this would turn out.
Everest showed concern herself, not entirely sure if they would be able to trust Charm on this. "So Charm is with us now?"
"Don't worry Eve. If he turns on us, we've got some members here who can take him." Marshall assured Everest as he nuzzled her gently. Charm felt the spark come up again and shook it off before focusing on the main goal at hand. It was clear that he wasn't making friends with the Paw Patrol, but he was fine with that, and not just because he didn't expect it to happen. He was saving finding real friends for when he could put all of his attention on reconnecting with his humanity. Having noticed him shake off the spark again however, Rocky started to feel he might have something.
"I'll keep an eye on him." Rocky offered, catching everyone's attention as he reminded them that Charm couldn't be trusted blindly. "One of us has to. He has the information, but we can't guarantee he won't use it for evil. And we're both immune, so we can't get infected."
"Good idea Rocky. I'll have Richie stay too." Rocky nodded in response, and Richie glared at Charm, who glared right back. It was clear that even if it were possible for the Paw Patrol to trust Charm, it'd take a lot more effort than just sharing information.
Rocky, Charm, and Richie were staying in the living room past dinner time to watch over Zuma, who was close to turning at that point. Charm was writing down in his journal about how he almost broke Claw's arm. 'I want to feel bad about it, especially since I know how Claw feels about being used now. I just... don't know how. And after seven years of remorseless violence, learning how will be more than difficult.'
Rocky noticed Charm's conflicted look and hoped he wouldn't mind him asking about it. "Is what you're writing affecting you?"
Charm flinched and closed his journal, showing some irrational anger that Rocky didn't expect. "None of your business!" Rocky got stressed, which Charm didn't expect, and Richie came over to help him. Before Rocky could respond to that, Zuma started acting up again and got the three's attention. "So this is what a demon turning looks like!"
"And it feels howwible!" Zuma exclaimed, feeling immense fear as he sat up with Rocky taking his paws to comfort him. "Wocky, I don't know what's gonna happen! I wanna say it's all gonna be okay, but I just can't; because I don't know!" It was clear that uncertainty was Zuma's demon turning personality trait coming out.
"Don't worry Zuma! I will save you!" Rocky assured Zuma, and then Charm backed up, feeling his insides acting up even more upon seeing Rocky and Zuma's love with Rocky continuing. Rocky told Zuma as much as he could so he could at least turn knowing that he loved him no matter what. "I told you earlier, and I'll say it again! I'll stop at nothing to make sure we turn you back! I'll use my immunity as much as I have to in order to save you! Nothing will stand in my way and stop me from getting you back! I love you more than life itself!"
Rocky then kissed Zuma, who embraced the kiss whole heartedly for the five seconds it lasted for. The spark inside of Charm started acting up at it's highest when Zuma responded to what Rocky said with tears of joy. "You took the wowds wight out of my mouth Wolfy." Richie noticed this, and since he overheard Rocky and Charm's brief talk, he started to wonder if this had something to do with Charm's demon blood. It was definitely a conversation to have later.
Just then, Zuma pushed Rocky to the ground, which was followed up by him howling before turning into a demon. Everyone else heard the commotion and rushed into the room, being horrified when they saw that Zuma had turned. Zuma was staring Rocky dead center, leaving Rocky to shed a tear of fear for him. He meant what he said, but he had no idea how to explain this to Zuma's parents and little sister. How do you tell someone's family about something like this!? Just then, Zuma said something that shocked everyone in the room. And it was only one word.
"Wo...cky."
Zuma left the room without attacking anyone, leaving Rocky stunned that he remembered who he was. That meant that Flare's theory was right, and there was still some humanity left in the turned demons. The sight of this made Charm feel a little more confident about his chances at reconnecting with his own humanity as well. Before he could focus on that however, he remembered what was happening. "Slash's Wolfland attack!" Charm rushed off, bursting out of the door with the Paw Patrol heading off to where he was running to.
The Paw Patrol arrived to the middle of town, where Slash was surrounded by demons and horrified Wolfland citizens. And to Charm's shock, a revived Trickery was right behind him. Once Slash saw that the Paw Patrol were all out there, and that Zuma had turned, he gave a sadistic grin as triumphant music played in his honor. Feeling that it was time to show his true colors, he began singing a song that he rehearsed for this occasion: Ralston.
"R is for rising, done by my demon army. A is for anarchy, to all who disobey me." Tracker and Bonita were shown to be terrified with Ryder shown stepping in front of his team to protect them. "L for likely chance of war, which will be televised. S is for how screwed you are, now allow me to repriiiiise." Flare held Rocky's paw when he saw how tense he was getting. Rocky smiled with gratitude, glad that someone was keeping him calm with Zuma now a demon.
"T is for traumatic, just listen to my song. O is for outrageous, that I had to wait so long!" Charm did his best to hide his disgust over that last bit. It was clear that the love he had for sadism was taken from him after he learned what Slash and Trickery did to him. "N is for the nightmare, upon you, I'll bestow." Slash then laughed devilishly a bit with his mouth closed as he finished up his song. "My name is Slash Ralston. And I'd like to say..."
To be continued.
"Hello."
Rock music played as Flare started speaking in regards to what was going to happen with specific moments from the next chapter being shown. "My friends and I can barely handle the demon attack Slash enacted on Wolfland! So many wolves are being turned into demons, and we can only stop so many! And now Zuma's turned into a demon! We have to find a way to turn him and everyone else back! Charm, do you still have Slash's journal!?"
Flare finished the announcement with the words Paw Patrol in all blue with red outlines surrounded with a white border with Flare on the right, and Marshall on the left. "Next time, Wolfland's Horrific Fate! (Rocky is shown to be dodging the demons the best he can with a look of unbreakable determination in his eyes) Even though I'm not immune, I'll save everyone I can!"
