Demon Defense arc Episode eleven: Wolfland's Horrific Fate

Flare and the others had all of their attention on Slash, who looked at them with a confident smile and lust for blood. After the demonic wolf gave a sadistic chuckle, he gazed at the group and let them know that this wouldn't be an easy battle for them to recover from. "So you're used to dealing with chaos aren't you. Well just you wait. Because I can surpass anything you've gone through with just the snap of my fingers!"

Ryder stepped forward, refusing to let Slash get away with whatever it was he was planning. "We're going to stop you Slash! You can count on it!"

"I hate to break it to you Ryder..." Slash held his paw up and held it in a position where he was ready to snap his fingers. "but the countdown just hit zero."

SNAP

Upon the snap of Slash's fingers, the demons scattered all around Wolfland, much to the horror of the Paw Patrol. Charm had some choice actions for his father however, and held out his knife as he stared him down. Flare looked to Charm, wondering what he was going to do during all of this. "Charm, you're going to help us save the wolves, right?"

"Someone has to keep my father busy!" Charm reminded Flare as he continued to stare his father down. Flare quickly noticed the look of vengeance in Charm's eyes. He also noticed Rocky's increasing rage, which was from clear determination to save Zuma, and to stop his father. "I don't care what you do; just don't get in my way! And remember what I told you about reversing demon transformations!"

After Charm charged at Slash, Ryder made his command to help everyone protect Wolfland. "Everyone, spread out! Keep as much caution around the demons as possible, and save everyone in Wolfland you can manage!"

The pups all nodded and pressed their pup tags to put their pup gear on before moving out with Richie bringing up his own agenda upon seeing Slash and Trickery. "You go on ahead Ryder. I have a feeling we'll need my demon side for this." Ryder nodded in response, heading out with Richie taking his sword out and rushing in to help Charm. He was stopped by Trickery however, and Richie slashed at his face, which caused him to duck. After dodging his punch, he got ready for whatever he had to do in order to stop their wrath. "So it's two on two, huh? Fine by me!"

Flare and Marshall were looking around for any wolves who might be in peril with the brothers quickly noticing the greatly damaged ballroom. The two of them nodded to each other with the same instant realization that some of the wolves could be in danger there. They ran over, and since the ballroom was still standing, in spite of it's damages, Flare called in. "Hello!? Is anyone in there!?"

"Help!" One of the wolves from inside called out, leading to the Dalmatian brothers rushing in to help them out. They had their weapons ready when they looked around for the wolf who called out to them. "Over here!"

Upon looking to the right, Flare and Marshall saw three wolves, one male, and two female, trapped under a beam. They rushed over, and one of the other female wolves spoke up about the situation. "Those demons sure do work fast."

"You're telling us." Marshall replied, and then he and Flare put their paws under the beam the canines were trapped under. "Ready Flare?"

"I was born ready!" Flare and Marshall lifted the beam together, and in doing so, they amazed the three wolves with their strength. They were all able to crawl out, thanks to the Dalmatians lifting the beam up just enough. They quickly got pooped out however, and had to catch their breath when they were done. "Maybe we should ask Ryder to hire a dog who knows how to lift."

One of the female wolves was unable to walk, but the male was ready to help her while asking about Flare and Marshall's strength. "Thank you so much! How did you two get so strong!?"

"I guess we just had enough training with the Paw Patrol." Flare answered happily, showing that he was still able to hold a smile, even in a dire situation. "As you can see however, we still have our limits."

Marshall then took control of the situation when he and Flare started helping the wolves out of the ballroom. "Come on now. Let's get you out of here before Slash's demons find you." Flare and Marshall could tell the wolves felt betrayed by Slash's deception. They couldn't blame them. No one liked to be manipulated.

Elsewhere, a demon started staring down some wolf children from nearby, making them frightened as they put their backs up against the wall. It prepared it's charge at them, but as soon as it did, it was met with a gunshot to the leg, causing it to lose balance. This gunshot was from Ryder's pistol, which was given some incredible upgrades compared to normal pistols. Ryder rushed in and shot at the demon again, causing it to vanish before appearing behind Ryder. Ryder predicted this however, and instantly turned around to aim his gun at the demon.

Ryder shot the demon in the head, causing it to fall down and become limp. Despite the quick victory, Ryder was still aware that he had to keep his guard up. Actually, that was why the victory was so fast. He rushed over to the wolf children and let them know he was there for them. "It's okay. I won't let the demons hurt you." The wolf children saw Ryder's compassionate smile, and he held his hand out to let them know that he was serious. "I can get you someplace safe."

The wolf children, who were both boys, went over to Ryder and allowed him to carry them. He looked around for any demons before running off towards the entrance to Wolfland. Knowing that the demons would be guarding it, he went onto the wall out of their sight and set the kids down right against it. He then used a device on them that kept them from being attacked by the demons. "This shield is impenetrable to any damage, no matter how big the enemy is. It should keep you two safe while we look to find some more of your friends and family."

The wolf children followed Ryder, who made sure to go at a speed he knew they could keep up with. He couldn't pick them up, as that would destroy the shield. If he wanted to keep them safe, he had to know they couldn't be hurt by the demons.

Rocky was slashing through the demons one by one, stabbing one in the face, and slashing the neck of another one before kicking it to the side. After pulling this off, Chase was quick to praise him after taking out a demon himself with a gunshot. "Nice work Rocky! Keep this up and Wolfland's fate won't be sealed!"

"Thanks Chase. Just remember I'm seeking one demon in particular." Rocky reminded Chase, and when he looked to see a demon trying to hurt a wolf pup, he rushed in as soon as he saw the last letter in his name. "PALECLAW!" This assumption was correct, as Paleclaw turned to find Rocky charging at him with his knife. "You think you can just make Zuma turn and get away with it!?" He was as determined as could be to save Zuma, giving the wolf pup time to escape as Rocky chased after Paleclaw. "Get back here!"

Chase went over to the wolf pup, who was looking at what looked like a sealed up house. Chase knew he couldn't leave her alone, and decided to help her save whoever was inside. "Your folks in there kid?"

The wolf pup nodded her head yes, and the mother wolf from inside called out to Chase in awe. "Chase!? Of the Paw Patrol!?"

"In the flesh." Chase responded, seeing the main beam and kneeling down to it. The way he knelt down caused his butt to be pointed out, but he still got a strong grip on the beam. "It'll be hard to do this myself, but we'll see what I can do." Chase started lifting up the beam, which was in fact a struggle for him. More so than Flare and Marshall, since they were able to work together for this. He was still able to lift it however, and amazed the wolf pup with his strength. A demon spotted Chase however, and set his sights on him as he was halfway to lifting the beam.

The wolf pup spotted the demon and quickly alarmed Chase of it's presence. "Mister Chase, look out! A demon!" Chase flinched upon the mention of a demon, and as he looked back, the demon slashed at his butt, causing him to yelp as a scratch mark was left on it. And just as the scratch was landed...

PHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHT

...a loud and bassy fifteen second fart sent the demon flying in a big yellow cloud of rotten eggs that made Chase's butt vibrate violently. The wolf pup was lucky to have not been hit by the fart cloud, and Chase simply grinned proudly while apologizing for it. "Sorry about that. It's hard for me to control my gas sometimes." Chase finished lifting the beam, thankfully having not lost his grip as he pushed the beam out of the way, letting the wolf mother escape. "Such as when I get attacked from behind by a-"

Chase then looked down at his butt after flinching, noticing the scratch mark, which the wolf pup noticed too. "Mister Chase! You're infected!"

"First off, you don't have to call me mister if you don't want to." Chase assured the wolf pup gently, and then he let her know that this infection wouldn't stop him. "Second off, I still plan to get you and your family to safety. And I'm gonna hopefully do that before I turn. Let's move!" The wolf pup and the mother listened, and the mother made sure her baby was safe as she carried her off with Chase and her daughter. Chase also made sure to update Ryder on his condition. "Ryder sir, it's bad." It was hard, but he knew he had to do it. "I got infected."

Skye was using her wings to evade the demon attacks, and she saw Dr. Cramden hiding in his lab. She flew down to him after making sure no other demons were around and tapped on his window. This caught his attention, since it was much more subtle than what the demons would've done. He looked out the window and saw Skye, who signaled him to come out. Dr. Cramden knew he could trust Skye, and opened up his window as she held out her arms. He then jumped out and let her carry him on her back before she flew up into the air for safety.

Dr. Cramden looked down at Wolfland, being distraught at the sight of his hometown being destroyed by demons. He couldn't believe he didn't realize Slash's true colors sooner. "I should've known."

"He made it look like he was 'protecting' your village. It makes sense that you wouldn't suspect him." Skye assured Dr. Cramden, knowing that she had to at least make an effort to comfort him during this time. She then flew off to the entrance, letting Dr. Cramden know that the Paw Patrol wouldn't give up. "We're gonna stop him Dr. Cramden."

"Oh, I know you will Skye." Dr. Cramden responded happily, feeling a light of hope that he could at least rely on the Paw Patrol to help out the wolves. "By the way, how is a small dog like a Cockapoo strong enough to carry me without struggle?"

Skye giggled a bit before giving her honest answer to the question. "That's what happens when you train with the Paw Patrol." Dr. Cramden appreciated Skye trying to keep an optimistic vibe. Someone had to during a time like this.

Snow and Everest were helping two wolves they already saved hide from a nearby demon after leaning against a wall in an alleyway. Snow looked around and saw a nearby rock, throwing it over the demon and hitting the ground on the other side. The demon was distracted, which gave Snow enough time to pick up a nearby barrel and throw it at the demon. This caused the demon to become fatigued, and Everest rushed over and stabbed it in the neck. Claw came over with a wolf puppy as he cracked a joke to Everest. "Look at me Everest. We have a real family now."

Everest giggled a bit with Snow getting them back on track regarding why they're here. "Guys, I'm all for finding humor in dark times, but we have to get the wolves we have with us out of here."

The wolves Snow and Everest were with, one teenage boy and a younger boy, came out as Everest asked them if they knew of a safe location. "Do either of you know about some place we can take you to that the demons can't reach easily?"

The teenage wolf did know of a place and was more than happy to share it. "There's Foxcadia! It's the next village over! Their barrier has protected them from danger for years!"

"Well it's not exactly out of sight, but at least you'll be safe from the demons." Snow pointed out, and then she spoke to the wolf teenager, knowing he'd have to lead from here. "You lead the way, and we'll take care of any demons on our path."

Claw then looked at the wolf puppy he was holding. Not wanting him to get hurt, he expressed this concern with Snow and Everest. "I'm not so sure I'll be of much help here."

"Dude; just let the experienced brother watch him." Snow snarked while pointing to the teenage wolf with her thumb. The teenage wolf gave a friendly wave with Claw laughing at the fact that he missed that obvious fix.

Claw set the wolf puppy down, sending him over to the teenager in the hopes he could watch after him, and his brother. "You don't mind one more responsibility, do you?"

"Of course not. And even if I did, you need to be as focused as possible." The teenager assured Claw, knowing that the group were making a smart call here.

"Foxcadia it is. Lead the way!" Upon Everest's announcement, the group set out to Foxcadia, where they would make sure to let the others know about after arriving there.

Back with Charm and Richie, Charm was proving to be more of a struggle for Slash, since he knew not to bring his gun this time. It also helped that some of his time during the past three weeks he memorized Slash's journal for were spent training. Slash was still able to hold him off to a decent extent however. As for Richie, he and Trickery were still evenly matched. This could be because of Trickery's new demon power boost, but Richie was still able to dodge his strikes as if they were nothing. He then got the idea to fake Trickery out and aimed a basic slash at him.

Trickery then appeared right behind Richie as expected, and it led to Richie landing a spinning slash that caught Trickery off guard. He took out one of his cards as soon as he vanished as well, and his arm being raised made it clear it was a card he had to raise up to use. Richie managed to chop off Trickery's paw when doing this as the Kishu demon attempted to duck. This led to him howling in pain before Richie kicked him back and caught his card to raise it up itself.

Richie looked up at the card with a grin as he then saw that it was a card that covered him in some kind of power cloak. Trickery looked in horror upon seeing this, and Charm and Slash noticed after Charm dodged another roundhouse kick from Slash. Richie quickly noticed his power boost and clenched his fists with a determined smile before charging at Trickery.

A paw short, Trickery tried back flipping to evade Richie's sword strike, which Richie then used as a chance to take one of his guns out. He shot at Trickery with it, only for him to teleport away and appear a few feet away from Richie. Just as he took out another card however, he got stabbed in the back, which was then revealed to be Charm having thrown his knife at him. After Slash kicked Charm to the ground, and Charm rolled out of the way from his downward sword stab, Richie made his move.

Trickery was unable to dodge due to the pain he was in, and Richie took full advantage of this to slice Trickery's head off. Charm managed to punch Slash as soon as this happened. Slash regained his balance, but Trickery's head fell on the ground. Trickery showed immense amazement over the fact that he was still alive as he pointed out his predicament. "So this is what being a disembodied head feels like. How peculiar."

Richie then went next to Charm, handing him one of his guns after thanking him for the assist. "Thanks Charm." Richie then showed surprise over how he didn't have any negative feelings over thanking Charm, thanks to their history together. "Why didn't I hate telling you that?"

Charm shrugged, not really sure what the reason was, and Slash then attempted to dive slash Richie, who jumped out of the way as soon as Charm did. Richie then stabbed Trickery's head to stop him from healing, despite his begging. "No no no; do-" Having finished Trickery off, Richie threw his head at Slash after taking it off of his sword to throw him off. Slash was already charging at Richie, and he slashed Trickery's head clean in half. Richie put his guard up and blocked the sword strike. Just then, his power boost wore off, proving it to only be temporary.

Slash then smirked, attempting to kick Richie back, only for Richie to jump up and backflip off of his leg. Slash then teleported behind Richie, who stepped to the side before slashing at him again. Charm was shown taking an opportunity by searching Trickery for more of his cards. When he found them, he grinned proudly before taking one out and putting the deck away. After doing so, he kicked Trickery's dead body and taunted him. "Guess you're no card master anymore ya life stealer!"

Richie and Slash heard what Charm said, and Richie then aimed another sword slash at Slash, who caught his sword before criticizing Richie's technique. "Ya know Richie, while I'm aware of the fact that you and your friends have defeated my son before..." Charm used Slash's ego moment as a means of throwing the card he took right next to him. "you're making it hard to think about losing to you right now."

Little did Slash know however, that the card in question was an ingrain card, which sprouted a plant that held Slash's foot in place. He kicked Richie back before he could shoot him, which led to Charm charging at him just as he slashed at the ingrain. "No one is undefeatable father!" Charm stabbed at his father's foot, dodging his kick by rolling and blocking his sword slash with his knife right after. "You trained me for four years! And as you pointed out, the Paw Patrol have overpowered me twice!"

"And that was only your second biggest mistake." Slash then low sweeped Charm before teleporting out of view from Richie's sword slash and getting ready to kill them both as they gazed at him from a few feet away. "The first was killing me."

Slash charged at Richie and Charm, and Charm had just enough time to take out a teleportation card from Trickery's deck. He used it just in time, and Slash barely missed them as they vanished. After they left, Slash showed disappointment over the fact that he couldn't kill them. "Pity. I could've sworn I was winning." He then quickly got over it and gave a smarmy grin while looking over Wolfland. "Oh well; back to business. There will always be blood to spill." Slash then ran off, ready to go find said blood to spill himself. Or wolves to turn. He didn't care which.

Outside of Wolfland, Flare and Marshall brought back some more wolves, both of whom were horrified by the fate of Wolfland. Charm and Richie appeared right at the door with Richie going to tell Ryder what happend with Slash and Trickery. One of them started breaking down in tears over how much damage had been caused. "We should've never trusted that psychopath! Maybe Wolfland would've been saved if we did!"

Flare then comforted the wolf, knowing that he needed to keep his spirits up right now. "It won't be like this forever." This caught Charm's attention. How was Flare so optimistic during this time? The wolf looked at Flare, who wasn't entirely sure what to say, but said what he felt was best. "I can't guarantee how quickly it'll happen, but I can feel it. We'll be able to stop Slash."

"How!? You saw everything he did!" The wolf shouted, leaving Flare to pat his back as the others showed how awful they felt about Wolfland's destruction. "Almost everyone in Wolfland has turned! You don't know if you can fix that!"

"Maybe not. But I'm still gonna try." Flare assured the wolf, letting his optimism shine through to try and give the wolf some hope. "It's okay to be scared, or sad, or however this is making you feel. Just remember to hold onto the hope that things will get better. The last thing you wanna do is fall into despair." The wolf kept crying as Flare comforted him. Flare wiped his tears to show that he was there for him. "I know this was a terrible tragedy. And I'm not undermining the way you feel. I'm telling you not to give up hope. Hope that Wolfland can be saved, and rebuilt into something better."

The wolf took Flare's advice to heart, knowing that he was trying to comfort him without ignoring other possible outcomes. "Yeah. That makes sense." Flare then hugged the wolf, allowing him to cry the rest of his tears while thanking him. "Thank you!"

Charm didn't understand Flare's advice as well, but the same spark he felt before kicked in again. It was small, like all the other times before, but Charm still felt it. It made him feel that he should ask Flare about this later. Before then, he asked about Rocky, which caught Claw's attention. "Where's Rocky?"

"And why would you care after the times you've tried to kill us!?"

"Well I'm not interested in losing valuable assets to my mission!"

"He went after Paleclaw's demon." Chase chimed in, successfully stopping an argument from breaking out between Claw and Charm. "Right before I got infected, he went after Paleclaw's demon. I should've gone after him." Chase started to have a self loathing fit, which Skye quickly came in to comfort him for. "Even though he's immune, he can't handle all of the demons alone! Why did I think he did!? Why do I keep hurting you guys with every decision I make!?"

As Skye tried to assure Chase that he wasn't hurting anyone, Ryder gave a command to Richie regarding Rocky. "Richie. We'll need you to go find Rocky."

"I'm on it!" Richie rushed back into Wolfland, taking his sword out to stop any demons in his path. The others were left hoping that Rocky would make it out okay.

Rocky was still chasing Paleclaw's demon, stabbing another demon in his path without fear or hesitation and slicing from it's chest right through it's head. He then spotted Paleclaw on one of the roofs, having gazed at him with Rocky shouting out his name. "PALECLAW!" Paleclaw was about to jump down, only for Slash to appear right before Rocky. That didn't stop him however, and he shouted at his father next. "GET OUT OF MY WAY SLASH!"

"I've got a better idea." Rocky aimed a knife slash at his father, who grabbed his knife and threw it to the side before grabbing Rocky's neck. "How about you drop dead!?"

Rocky kicked his father in the face so hard that it gave him the time to loosen his grip and bite his father's paw. After doing so, Rocky jumped onto his father and sent him onto his back. Rocky then gave his father a barrage of right hooks, being unfazed as his father laughed during the assault. Slash grabbed Rocky's fist after the fifteenth punch and crushed it, making Rocky wince. He wasn't ready to give up however, and attempted to kick his father in the gut, right before Slash threw him to the side and taunted him. "Such insolence Rocky! Someone need proper discipline!"

Rocky wasn't about to let his broken paw be the end of his determination, staring his father down while shouting at him with immense rage. "I'LL SHOW YOU PROPER DISCIPLINE!" Rocky charged at Slash, who readied his next strike, only for Richie to appear in front of him, stopping him in his tracks. "Get out of my way Richie!"

Richie wasn't about to let Rocky get himself killed, glaring at Slash as he refused to do as Rocky demanded. "That's not happening!" Richie readied his sword, aiming it directly at Slash as he demanded he leave the rest of the wolves alone. "Leave now Slash! We're not gonna let you turn any more wolves!"

"Oh yes; that's very convincing. I suppose I shouldn't do anymore evil." Slash responded sarcastically, gazing directly at Richie as he declared his next plan. "Give it up Richie! The Paw Patrol has no chance at stopping me! Not with Charm's minions out of the question." Richie and Rocky were shocked to hear that, leaving Slash to laugh before calling them out on their oversight. "Did you seriously think I wasn't going to look for his base to take it down!?"

Richie knew he couldn't leave this out of the blue and informed Ryder about it. "Ryder! Slash sent some of his demons for Charm's base! Recruiting anyone from his army could be out of the question!"

"Understood! I'll let the others know! Thanks Richie!" Ryder responded, letting Richie focus back on Slash, who didn't see any reason to attack.

Slash saw there to be no point in fighting any longer, deciding to take Richie out once and for all. "Say hello to Trickery in hell for me." Richie threw down a smoke bomb and dashed off after grabbing Rocky, who glared at Paleclaw's demon as it dashed off. Richie barely managed to dodge Slash's punch before aiming a demon powered kick on him when his hair changed from white to black. It was only for a brief moment, but it was strong enough to send Slash into a wall with some rubble falling on him.

Richie could sense that Slash wasn't dead yet, but he couldn't focus on finishing him off right now. He had to make sure Rocky got out of Wolfland safely. This allowed Slash to teleport away and prepare for a way to overpower Richie's demonic side. The fact that he rarely, if ever, used this form, was definitely something he could take advantage of.

The rest of the Paw Patrol noticed Richie running over to them with Rocky, the latter of whom demanded that he be let go. "Let go of me Richie! I have to find Demon Paleclaw! They're my key to saving Zuma!"

"We'll find him Rocky! But now, is not, the time!" Richie informed Rocky, sternly, but not to the point of looking angry. He told him exactly what he needed to hear, both in regards to his safety, and saving Zuma. "Slash is too powerful for you to go up against on your own. And we have no idea how to stop his demon rising. For now, we have to find a new place for the citizens of Wolfland, as well as ourselves. We're going to save Zuma, and hopefully Paleclaw as well. We just have to wait."

Charm had listened in on the conversation, feeling that bringing it up later would be beneficial. Flare's optimism continued to show as he put helping the citizens of Wolfland before anything. "There has to be another village around these parts somewhere. Charm's base was around in the area; why should there only be one village near that?"

Snow saw an opportunity to speak up and went over to Ryder and Richie and stood next to Flare. "Actually, one of the wolves Everest, Claw, and I escorted out of Wolfland mentioned a place called Foxcadia. He said he'd guide us there once we saved everyone in Wolfland we could."

Ryder was one of many who showed remorse for the many in Wolfland who were lost. He looked at the destroyed village as he pointed out how many were lost. "We lost seventy percent of the wolves who lived here. Some of them turned... some of them dead."

"Then we're gonna get the ones who turned back!" Flare announced, catching everyone's attention as he made it clear that he was ready to continue helping the citizens of Wolfland. "I'm not gonna let the citizens of Wolfland lose everyone Slash turned into a demon. If there's a way to save them all, then I'm gonna find it." Flare looked to Charm with a confident smile, knowing that he'd do anything to stop Slash. "And I think we have someone who's willing to help."

Charm wasn't surprised that Flare looked to him for that one. As he walked over to him however, he pointed out how big of a risk that was. "Slash isn't anyone to mess around with Flare. His army isn't just going to blindly let us kill the demons who infected your friends." Flare knew that, but still felt he couldn't give up. "And even if that works out, there's no chance you'll save everyone. There's going to be some casualties."

"I know. But I'm still gonna try and save all I can." Flare informed Charm, showing an endless determination to protect others that far exceeded his fear of death.

"We all will. Together." Ryder chimed in as he knelt down and put a paw on Flare's shoulder. This led to Flare giving Ryder a smile of pure compassion, just before Ryder got back on track. "First things first though. We have to find Foxcadia and hope they're willing to help us." The Paw Patrol all got ready to help out with Chase trying to suppress his self worth issues. It was a lot harder thanks to his demon infection, and Skye noticed instantly. She couldn't bare the thought of seeing him turn.

A few minutes later, the Paw Patrol had spent a half hour walking with the remaining thirty percent of Wolfland's citizens. Chase was taking this time to talk to Rocky about what happened to Zuma. He knew he needed as much comfort as possible, and he didn't wanna leave him hanging. "Rocky?" Rocky looked at Chase, who showed his sympathy over Zuma turning. "I'm so sorry about what happened to Zuma. I can't imagine what it must've been like to see that in your position."

Rocky appreciated the comfort, and showed that he was confident that he could save Zuma. "I'm not gonna give up on saving him." Rocky held his paw out and looked at it as he told Chase about what he heard from Zuma. "He said my name before he left Chase. He's still in there somewhere." Rocky clenched his fists with immense determination. "And I'm not gonna stop until I get him back."

Chase smiled when he saw Rocky's loyalty to Zuma. It reminded him of his own loyalty towards Skye. Endless devotion to protecting the one you love. "I totally get that. I saw that as soon as you ran after Paleclaw's demon." Chase's self worth issues then kicked in again, quickly catching Rocky's attention. "It's more than I did to stop the demons."

"Hey, don't say that. You couldn't have stopped them on your own." Rocky reminded Chase, knowing that even though his self worth issues showing more clearly was thanks to the demon blood, he still needed as much comfort as he could get. "Just like always, you proved yourself as Ryder's second in command tonight."

"Did I really Rocky?" Chase asked, showing a genuine distaste for himself that Rocky had noticed quite a few times before. Then again, everyone on the team noticed this. And they all tried their best to help Chase overcome this. "All I did was save a couple wolves and fart on a demon so hard that I sent it flying out of Wolfland. It wasn't enough. I could've done more to save Wolfland. If only the investigation didn't go so long without evidence." Rocky put a paw on Chase's shoulder for comfort. He also saw that it helped at least a little bit. At least he could be there for his friend.

Some of the other pups also heard the conversation, leaving Skye to look to Snow with concern. She silently mouthed 'We'll save him too.' to her, knowing she needed hope that Chase would be saved in the end. Skye then looked at Chase, being horrified about the inevitable. The last thing she wanted out of tonight was for Chase to turn or die.

An hour after Chase got infected, the Paw Patrol, Charm, and the citizens of Wolfland arrived at the gate for Foxcadia. Upon seeing the gate, Claw expressed how tired he was of walking and sighed of relief at the sight of comfort. "Finally; we made it. I'm never walking for forty minutes straight again!"

"Suck it up Claw. At least we finally made it." Snow reminded Claw, who smirked as everyone started walking towards the gate in request for shelter for everyone.

A member of the Foxcadia guard was standing at the entrance, taking notice to everyone after finishing her soda. She tossed her soda over her shoulder and sent it into the recycling bin with her tail before speaking up. "None of ya'll are local faces. What brings you to Foxcadia?"

Ryder stepped forward, knowing that he had to word this just right to make absolute sure Foxcadia would let them in. "I'm sorry to bring such a heavy request on your village ma'am. We come from Wolfland, which is forty minutes that way." Ryder pointed behind himself to prove his point right before continuing. "We just survived a demon attack from the one and only Slash Ralston."

"Slash Ralston!? He's alive!?" The soldier spoke up, finding this insane to believe. "But I thought he was killed by his kid!"

"It'd take a bit of time to explain." Ryder admitted, and then he got back to convincing the soldier to let them in. "Seventy percent of Wolfland's citizens were turned or killed in the massacre. The thirty percent we have here is in desperate need of shelter." The soldier looked over everyone and saw that Ryder was serious. "My name is Ryder Maxor. I'm the leader of the Paw Patrol. And I can personally assure you that we won't stop at anything to keep these wolves, and everyone in Foxcadia, safe from Slash. We just need a place to stay in this area."

The fox soldier saw that Chase was infected with how self conscious he looked, and the darker look in his eyes resembling that of a demon turning. Knowing that Ryder was telling the truth already, this confirmed to her that she had to help them. She gave a compassionate smile as she gave Ryder her word. "Then you've come to the right place Ryder. My name's Vixey."

To be continued.

Rock music played as Rocky started speaking in regards to what was going to happen with specific moments from the next chapter being shown. "Foxcadia was nice enough to welcome us in open arms. I just wish I could show my appreciation for it better. I can't stop hyperfixating on Zuma. He's out there, having been turned into a demon by Slash's army. All for the sake of ruling over the world with demons. What a despicable desire to have. I don't care if he's my father; I'll never be like Slash!"
