The smile on his face when he left Paige and Megan , remained on his face all afternoon , even when he was driving home . He left the office at 5.00pm. and was home by 5.15pm. . he immediatly went to shower .

Once showered , he dressed in a pair of Chino's a fawn crew neck sweater and a light brown linen jacket , the outfit completed by a pair of fawn deck shoes . His wardrobe had changed so much since he had left Scorpion behind .

By 6.50pm. he was pulling up in a visitors parking space in front of Paige's condo .

Inside Paige's condo .

Paige was busy preparing the evening meal , Chicken Picatta , Which she knew was one of Walter's favourite . Ralph had been in his room since he returned home from College . He came out around 6.30pm , saying he had finished all his homework .

" You have not cooked that dish since before you walked out on Walter and Scorpion . " Ralph said with a slight edge to his voice .

" I just fancied a change besides i have a visitor coming over tonight . " Replied Paige with a smile on her face .

" Who is he , when did you meet him , it had better not be Tim ? " Ralph said his anger building more with each word .

Paige gave a sigh . " I met him yesterday and it is not Tim , i am not that desperate . " Replied Paige with a lot of edge to her voice .

" I don't want to meet him , i am going to my room . " Was Ralph's angry reply .

" You will stay out here and eat with us . No argument !" Paige told him a definite edge to her voice .

As she finished speaking she heard a firm knock on the door . " Ralph go and see who that is at the door " Paige told him in a not to kind of voice .

He stomped to the door , his face angry in rage . He slung the door open and just said ."What ?"

As soon as the word came out of his mouth he saw Walter standing there . " Walter were have you been , i have been trying to find you for over four months . " Ralph asked all his anger gone , the sour look on his face replaced with a wide smile .

" Hello Ralph , do you think your mom could spare me five minutes for a chat ? " Walter asked , having great difficulty in keeping a straight face .

" Mom it's Walter , he wants to know if you will speak to him for five minutes , can i bring him in please . " Ralph shouted from the door .

" Ok, five minutes , i do not want the meal to spoil and my visitor is due soon . " Paige replied , trying to keep the excitment out of her voice .

" Come in , mom is expecting someone for dinner , but i don't want to meet them . "

" Give them a chance Ralph , if your mom likes them , you will need to give them a chance . "

By now Paige had come from the kitchen and was standing by the sofa . " Hello Walter , you have got five minutes so say what you have got to say . I am expecting a guest for dinner in about ten minutes . " Paige said as she was trying her best to show a poker face .

" Well i just felt i should tell you , since you all left me , i have been working undercover for Richard . So i have not been contactable , so i thought you may have wanted to contact me some time , but it would appear if you have a guest for dinner you have moved on . So i will just wish you luck and goodnight . " As Walter finished speaking he made as to turn towards the door .

Paige could no longer keep up the pretence , she rushed across to Walter put her arms around his neck and kissed him . She leaned back , when she broke away from the kiss

" You are going no were Mr O'Keefe except to sit at our table tonight . "

Ralph's mouth dropped open in shock . " Who the hell is Mr. O'Keefe ? " He asked

" The man i met yesterday . " Paige answered a big smile on her face .

" What ! Does that mean you and Walter are back together ? " Ralph asked a smile begining to reappear on his face .

" Well that depends on you . Would you be happy if we were ? " Paige said the smile still plastered on her face .

Ralph ran over to the two of them and tried to put his arms around both of them at once , without to much success , but that did not concern him . He was just so happy to have Walter back in his life . All he could manage was . " Yes . "

The three of them stood there for almost five minutes , not talking just feeling the love flowing between them . All of a sudden Paige moved away and ran towards the kitchen , shouting over her shoulder . " The chicken it is going to be spoilt . "

Walter and Ralph just looked at one another and burst out laughing . The family seemed back together . Once they finished laughing , Ralph looked at Walter with a very serious face .

" You do know about , Megan Louise , don't you ? "

" Yes i met her yesterday and again today . She his beautiful just like your mom . I have fell in love with her the same as i fell in love with your mom . But i need to tell you , even if i had not got back with your mom and found out i was the father of a beautiful little girl . I would and will always consider you as my number one son , i know biologically i am not , what i feel in my heart is that you always will be exactly that .

If your mom and i can sort everything out between us , we intend to go to councilling to help us acheive that , once we are both on a firm base and i do not make anymore silly mistakes , hopefully we can become a big happy family again . "

Paige was on her way back to them , the chicken was fine . But as soon as she heard Walter talking to Ralph , she stopped and listened . The more she heard the more the tears ran down her face . Once Walter had finished speaking , she walked over towards him .

" Walter it was not you that made a silly mistake it was me by walking out on you after berating you in front of everybody , that was an argument we should have had in private . " As she finished speaking she rushed up to him and hugged him .

" Maybe we were both to blame , it is a subject we should bring up with the councillor once we start attending the meetings . " Walter said a big smile on his face as he hugged Paige back .

Paige looked up at Walter . " Thank you for what you said to Ralph , i really appreciated what you said and i am sure Ralph does as well . "

" As i told you yesterday from now on i will stick to what i have always believed , i will only speak the truth . " Was Walter's reply .

" The meal will be ready in ten minutes so if you would sit at the table , i will get it ready to serve . " Paige told them .

Walter gave her a look . " Could i just pop in and see Megan , before we start the meal . " He asked adopting his puppy dog eyes , he knew would melt Paige's heart .

" Of course , she is asleep so please be quiet . "

Walter made his way to Paige's bedroom and slowly opened the door and made his way over to the crib . Peering in his face broke into a smile at seeing Megan asleep . He was certain he could hear a very quiet purring coming from her , almost an imitation of how Paige sleeps .

He was certain as he leaned over and in a very low voice whispered , " Good evening , my little girl . " that a smile appeared on her face .

Before he left he kissed two of his finger tips and gently touched Megan's brow with them . He turned and left making his way back to the dining table . Ralph was already sitting at the table , Paige was finishing off the meal in the kitchen .

" Was Megan still asleep ? " Ralph asked .

" Yes , but still looking beautiful . " Walter answered .

Once the meal was over , Paige with help from Walter cleared the table and loaded the dishwasher . Paige and Walter went to sit on the sofa , this time close together and held hands . Ralph sat on a chair next to the sofa .

Ralph was keen to know what Walter had been doing for the last ten months . Even though Walter had explained to her already , Paige was more than happy to listen to the explanation again , as Ralph absorbed the information , Walter was telling him . His face really lit up when Walter began telling him about the house Richard had given him .

Once Walter had told them both everything , Ralph was quick to ask . " When can i see the house , it sounds amazing . A three car garage would make a brilliant workshop for experiments . "

Walter smiled and before answering looked at Paige , who just gently squezzed his hand ." To be honest Ralph , i have not done one experiment outside of work , since the night everything went wrong for me . "

Paige leaned into him and gave him a kiss on the cheek and whispered . " I am so sorry . "

Walter looked back at Paige . " You do not need to feel sorry , i made the mistake of lying to you in the first place and then compounded that by telling you only half the truth . "

Paige , a tear slipping from her eye . " I know you lied to me , but i should not have reacted that way i did . But i thought you were getting fed up with me , because i could not match your I.Q. and i must admit you had appeared more distant from me for the last couple of months . "

" I never need you to be level with my I.Q. , i fell in love with you and i must admit with Ralph as well . You were my calming influence , the reason i appeared more distant was because of the guilt i was feeling about the lecture , because as i have already said , of all the conflicting advice Toby was dripping in my ear .

" I think we need to keep these conversations until we see Dr. Mary Curtes . I have made an appointment for Friday at 1.00pm , do you think that will be alright ? " Paige explained .

" First i agree we should maybe keep these conversations until we meet up with Dr. Curtes . I am sure Richard will be ok with that , i did mention to him about councilling , this afternoon when i went to thank him for the picnic . "

They all continued talking until Paige informed Ralph it was his bedtime . With some reluctance , he hugged them both and said goodnight .

Once Ralph had gone to his bedroom Paige and Walter sat on the sofa . They sat close enough that their hips were touching . Walter gently took Paige's hand in his , gave her a small smile , he then began to speak .

" There is something i need to tell you , it is something that need not be bought up in our councilling sessions . "

Walter was hesitant and Paige realized he was having a problem with what to say . She gently squezzed his hand .

" Just take your time Walter , we need to understand we do not want secrets between us anymore . Close your eyes , get your thoughts in order . I am going nowhere . "

A smile appeared on his face , before he closed his eyes . It was a full minute before he opened his eyes , the smile never leaving his face .

" Thank you , that is one of the things i have missed since you left me . Your ability to calm my mind and help me put my thoughts in order . Once you all walked out on me that night i have to admit my heart broke , because i still loved you all .

Next day although still sad , i had time to think about everything , i realized how much i had hurt you , so i could understand why you went . The others had no excuse to walk out , Sly's reason was so ridiculous , you cannot make make someone fall in love with you . Toby and Happy i was at a complete loss of words for why they went .

After two weeks it became apparent no one would be making contact , then i found out you had started a company to compete against Scorpion . I knew then i was on my own .

Being i my own i knew i would never be able to make enough to cover the loan on the garage . So i packed two suitcases with some of my clothes , i took them with my trinket box and the plans and patents .

After six weeks it was apparent no one intended to contact me , by now Richard had given me a job and a place to live . So i gave the plans and patents to Richard as a gift . He came back two days later having had two of his teams check them out . He gave them me back and told me he would not accept them unless i accepted an offer of $2.5 million , with no argument , plus a 5% royalty on all sales for ten years .

I have now come to the point i want to tell you about . I accepted the offer , put $2 million into a high interest account plus the 5% royalty fee when it is paid . The other $500,000 i put in a trust account for Ralph , which he will gain access on his 18th birthday . I am named as executor , but now i will want your name added to that . "

Paige went to interupt but Walter put his hand up to stop her .

" Please wait till i have finished . Now i know of Megan i want to do the same for her . As it will be in longer than Ralph's the amount she receives will be greater , but with inflation the spending value will only be the same , if not less . "

By the time he had finished , tears were rolling down her cheeks . " Walter that is such a beautiful thing for you to do , especially after what i did to you . How could you still be so kind ? "

Walter looked at her . " I did it for Ralph , he had and never has done anything to hurt me . As i said earlier i have , almost since the day i met him , considered him as my son , even when in the past you have pointed out i am not his father . You only have to be a sperm donor to be a father , but you have to show him love and accept a child as they are to be a good dad . "

Paige by now was sobbing , but she threw herself at Walter and clung to him while burying her face in his shoulder .

Walter put his arms around her and gently began to rub his hands up and down her back .

" Calm down , please there is no need to be upset . I only told you because i said no more lies . "

Paige began to calm down , she lifted her head out of Walter's shoulder ." I am not upset , i am so shocked that even after what we did to you , your number one priority was Ralph and his future . "

" I always will and the same now goes for Megan as well . " Walter replied .

They stayed cuddled up together , until 10.00pm. when Walter told Paige he should be heading home . Paige felt better than she had since the breakup , Walter's arms wrapped around like a large comfort blanket .

" Do you really have to go ? " Paige asked sadness in her face .

" Yes, we said small steps and i am afraid if i stay any longer , my small steps maybe will turn . into a giant step , not for mankind , but for us . Walter said as he leaned in and gave her a quick kiss on the lips .

" I understand what you are saying , but i have not felt so happy for a long time . Could we do lunch tomorrow , i could make some sandwiches and a flask of coffee , we could eat them in the car . " Paige said a look of expectance on her face .

"I think i would really like that . You will bring Megan , won't you ? " Walter smiled as he spoke .

" Afraid so , you do not get me without Megan . " Paige replied with a laugh in her voice .

Walter with some reluctance got up from the sofa , followed by Paige . Together they made their way over to the door , slower than they normally would . Once by the door Walter pulled Paige into a hug and planted a kiss on her lips to which Paige responded .

Once they broke the kiss Paige looked into Walter's eyes , the sparkle had now returned . " I do really love you , i am so pleased Amy was working that day . Please text me once you get home to let me know you are safe . "

Walter smiled at her , gently kissed her on her lips . " I will , please give Megan a kiss and a cuddle from me in the morning . I look forward to lunch tomorrow . "

He released Paige and opened the front door , Paige stopped and planted another kiss on his lips . " That's from Megan . "

A big smile broke out on Walter's face as he said . " Thank you . "

At that he walked out the door . Paige watched him walk over to his car , were he turned to her and mouthed ." I love you ."

Paige mouthed the same back as she waved him off . She stayed at the door , until his car was out of sight .

As soon as Walter pulled up outside his house he sent a text to Paige to say he was home safe .

Once inside his house , Walter was to excited to sleep , so tonight he decided he would check out the upstairs . He went from room to room removing any sheets that were covering furniture . He was amazed at the amount of items in the rooms , this was infact the first time he had even gone into any of these rooms since he had lived there .

Wardrobe upon wardrobe were filled to capacity with both womens and mens clothing , he took pictures on his phone of the clothes and the large amount of jewellery that was in different boxes . He would show them to Paige at lunch the next day , she would know what to do .

He noticed in one of the bedrooms , a picture was at a perculiar angle , he moved over to straighten it , as he moved it he caught a glimpse of something behind it , he removed the picture and saw the wall safe behind it . He tried it but it was locked as expected , another phone call to find a locksmith .

By the time he had walked through all of the rooms it was well past midnight ,he left the sheets he had removed in one of the bedrooms to take downstairs in the morning .

Despite not getting to sleep until well past 1.00am. he was still awake at 6.00am. . Once showered and dressed he made his way into the kitchen , to make coffee and toast . He sent a quick text to Paige .

By 8.30am. he was at his desk and was working on an idea to reduce the size of the hoist , which now belonged to Richard's company . The idea was to make one that weighed only 10lbs. , but if possible with as much power . this would make it easier to carry for people like army engineers .

It was not to replace the original as even if it would have the power of the original , it would not have the durabilty of it 's larger cousin . The idea had come to him after telling Paige last night about the trust fund he had set up for Ralph .

A couple of hours later he went to see Richard , to tell him about the appointment with the counciller tomorrow . He offered to stay back a hour on the night to make up the time . Richard told him not to bother and whenever he and Paige had a session booked , to just go .

At 12.20pm. Walter left his desk and made his way to the exit , as soon as he stepped out of the door , he saw Paige's car . As he walked towards it , Paige got out and stood by the driver's door , once he was a few yards from her , she moved quickly to him and put her arms around his neck and pulled his head towards her , so she could plant a kiss on his lips .

She released him and moved back to the car . Walter followed and made his way to the passenger door , but not before stopping and looking though the rear window to check on Megan . Once they were both in the car , Paige drove the car over to the far side of the large carpark , were no cars were parked .

" I thought we could just stay in the car and eat our lunch , then you can be back to work on time . " Paige explained .

" That is fine by me . Did you all sleep well last night ? " Asked Walter as he glanced over his shoulder to steal a glance at Megan .

" Definatley , i did need to get up around 3.00am. to feed Megan , but both of us fell back to sleep quickly , the young lady was satisfied . " Paige told him the smile never leaving her face .

Paige fetched the little picnic bag out of the trunk . She poured two cups of coffee and passed one to Walter , she then removed two boxes containing sandwiches , again she passed one to Walter .

Megan began to make a grizzle noise , Walter immediatly put his coffee and sandwiches down on the dashboard .

" Why his she doing that ? " He asked .

" She Wondering why she has not seen you , but can hear you . " Replied Paige .

Immediatly Walter got out the car and opened the back door , leaned in . " Hello my little princess , don't worry i am here . " Walter said as he put his hand on Megan's chest and gently rubbed the blanket , Megan went quiet and a smile broke out on her face .

" Why don't you take her out and bring her into the front of the car with you . " Paige suggested .

Walter gently picked Megan out of the bassenet and gently cradled her in his arms . Once back in the car , he looked down at Megan , smiles on both of their faces .

Paige reached for his coffee cup and handed it to Walter . " Drink your coffee while it is still hot , then if you like you can feed Megan again . "

Walter's smile grew bigger . " That must mean i did well yesterday . "

" I told you she is happy in your arms . "

Once Walter had finished his coffee , Paige reached in her bag and bought Megan's bottle out in the same insulated container . She checked it was not to hot , before passing it to Walter . Today he did not need any guidance from Paige , Megan again took the bottle first time again . Paige watched with a smile on her face and pride at the way Walter was coping .

Once Megan had finished the bottle , Walter handed it to Paige and immediatly began to wind Megan .

Paige was impressed she had only showed him once , now he was doing things like a professional . Once he had winded Megan , Paige took her from him .

" You finish your lunch and i will hold Megan , it will soon be time to take you back to work "

Walter looked a little upset as he handed Megan over to Paige . " I wish i could stay with you all afternoon . Last night i went round all the upstair's rooms , i am amazed at the amount of things i found . I took photo's of a lot and was hoping to show you over lunch and get your advice . But as you have just pointed out , it is almost time for me to go back to work . "

" Well why don't you come over tonight , i know Ralph would like to see you again , plus your two favourite ladies definatly want to see you again today ." Paige told him , in her mind her fingers were crossed , that he would say yes .

" What time ? But let me bring Pizza to save you cooking . " Walter told her without any hesitation .

Paige smiled . " 7.00pm. alright for you ? "

Walter just nodded.

Paige put Megan back into her bassenet then packed the pinic bag and returned that to the trunk . She drove the car back to the entrance of the office and after a quick kiss Walter got out of the car and walked over to the office block at the door he turned and waved to Paige .

At 7.00pm. Walter was knocking on the front door of Paige's condo . Tonight he was wearing dark blue jeans , a pale blue open neckshirt and a leather jacket . Paige opened the door and looked him up and down before smiling and saying .

" Very smart . "

Walter leaned forward and gently kissed her cheek . " Thank you . " His hands were full with large pizza boxes so he could not get really close to Paige .

They both returned to the kitchen , Walter putting the boxes on the kitchen islands . Paige called Ralph to tell him Walter was here with the pizzas .

He immediatly ran out of his room and up to Walter and gave him a hug . " Hello dad ,good to see you again . "

Walter returned the hug .

They all sat in the living room , taking pizza slices as they wanted . Paige looked at Walter with a quizzical look on her face .

" There is something i need to ask you Walter . "

"Ok. " Walter replied .

" Your dress , all the time i knew you at Scorpion , your main dress was always , open neck blue shirt and black trousers . Over the last three days i have seen you in three different suits and two different casual outfits . Why the change ? "

Walter looked at her for a couple of minutes he did not answer , because he was enjoying his pizza .

Once he had finished eating a slice , he gave Paige a small smile before speaking . " Another benefit of working for Richard , he employed a personel shopper for me , with a $2000 a month dress allowence . She knows my size and every month there is a new pile of clothes left in my office . Until last night i had not worn any of the casual wear . "

Paige gave him a smile of approval . " Well they certainly suit you . " As she leaned over and kissed him on his pizza flavoured lips .

Once they had finished eating , Paige put the boxes in the recycling garbage and the left over slices in the fridge .

" You started to tell me about what you did when you got home last night . " Paige asked .

" I decided to check out the rooms upstairs . After removing all the dust sheets , i was amazed at the amount of items in each room . All the wardrobes were cramed full with men's and women's clothes . But more importently there was a large amount of jewllery in different rooms . I also found a wall safe , but that was locked . I have photo's on my phone , Ralph do you think you can transfer the first ten pictures onto a tablet , so your mom can get a better look at the items . These ten only , the others on my phone are personel ones for me . " Walter explained .

" No problem dad , the first ten only . " Ralph said as he took the phone off Walter and went into his bedroom for his tablet .

As Ralph left , Paige gave Walter a quizzical look . " Personel photos just for you ! "

Walter gulped before speaking . "Ac ac acutually they are all photo's of you , it was the only memories i had of you once i moved out of the garage . "

A big smile broke out on Paige's face . " Remind me when Ralph goes to bed to show you what is on my phone , if you let me see what is on yours . " Paige could hardly contain a giggle as she finished speaking .

" You have got a deal . " Walter replied a smile on his face .

A few minutes later Ralph reappeared , handed Walter his phone back , then showed him the first picture he had transfered to his tablet .

" Are that is much better , Paige would you look at these please ? " Asked Walter .

Paige took the tablet from Ralph and began to study the first picture , she then moved on through all the photos . All the time she was looking at the pictures , she did not say a word . Once she had looked at all the pictures , she looked at Walter , her face not giving anything away .

Walter waited about thirty seconds before saying . " Well . "

Paige still did not speak , but a smile began to form on her face . After another couple of minutes passed before she spoke . " Good and bad news , the mens clothing look of good quality , i would say at least as good as the suits you have started wearing . The ladies clothes are certainly not from a budget price store , unfortunatly without seeing them up close it is more difficult to come to a real idea of the makers .

The jewellrey looks genuine , not costume , but again without checking for hallmarks it is difficult to guarantee for certain they are genuine . "

Walter looked at Paige , his face not really showing what he was thinking . Before he could say anything , Paige began speaking again . " I know you do not want us to see the house before it is cleaned up . Could i make a suggestion as you will be having a lot of strangers in your house on Saturday . Put all the jewellery in a bag and bring it over here on Friday night . We can go through it together , then you can leave it here until all the work as been done . The clothes i can check out once you let us visit . "

" I like that idea , it means i can come and see you again tomorrow night . " Walter replied .

" That is settled then , maybe we could order Chinese . "

Ralph's face lit up at the mention of Chinese food .

They spent the next hour talking . Walter telling more about what he had found in the rooms .

" There are at least two sets of drawers in each room , some four , some six drawers . But i have not opened any of them so i am not sure just what i will find . There are also a lot more paintings , but you know my idea of art is not really the same as yours , you may find them interesting . "

The more Walter talked about the house the more her curiosty grew , would the paintings be originals or prints . Would all " The bits and pieces . " just be junk or items of real value .

" Walter you are making me feel so jealous , i can only imagine what the inside looks like , when can i come and see it ? "

" Me to dad . " Ralph interupted .

Walter smiled . " Ok , how about you come over Sunday . The pool men will still be working but hopefully the cleaning will all be done , so the place should be cleaner and looking a lot better . "

Paige pulled him towards her and kissed him hard . " Thank you , i just want to be a bigger part if your life and you saying that makes me feel so much better . "

Ten minutes later Paige told Ralph it was his bedtime , with some reluctance he said goodnight after hugging both his mom and dad .

Once they knew Ralph was in his bedroom , Paige looked at Walter . " Ok Buster , let's see what is so private on your phone ? "

Walter handed his phone to Paige , who started to scroll through the pictures . The more she saw , the more tears ran down her face . " These are beautiful , but i do not remember you taking any of these . "

" I took them at various times when i saw something in your face or even body , i always wanted to keep as a permenant record , even though they are all stored in my mind as well . "

Paige leaned into Walter again and kissed him with much passion to which he responded . It was five minutes before they broke the kiss .

Walter pulled away slowly . " You promised to show me your phone . "

Paige with some reluctance pulled her phone out " My photo's are not so good as yours , but they are my only memories i had of you , my mind does not retain information like yours . They are also something i have shown Megan everyday since she was born , i do not know how much she has taken in , but the trust she shows in you , i guess a lot more than i imagined . "

Walter scrolled through the photos , a lot quicker than Paige had through his , Paige had not taken so many pictures .

Walter handed the phone back to Paige . " Well same as you , i had not realized you had taken them . Megan may have registered my face , which is why she his happy with me . " Walter told her with a big smile on his face .

They stayed in each other's arms for an hour before Walter decided it was time he left , still small steps , until they had seen Ann a few times .
