Walter and Ralph rushed to Paige , unsure what the matter was . Both stepped into the narrow room and their eyes went wide at what they saw , The two long walls and the smaller end wall were covered in weapons of all styles from hand held missle launcher to small one round guns .
" Wow , i wonder if the opening is the same on the other wall . " Ralph almost shouted as ran out of the room .
Less than a minute later he shouted again . " Mom, dad , you have got to look at this . "
Walter turned to Paige , a serious look on his face . " I wonder what he has found , this house seems full of mystery . "
Paige returned the look and while turning to leave spoke . " I guess we had better go and luck , i thought i was just going to be looking at trinkets and clothes . I suppose i should have known better , it would appear the Scorpion curse may have returned . "
Walter put his hand on Paige's shoulder to stop her going out the door . " The Scorpion curse ."
" Well you must remember every case we dealt with , somewhere during the case , something would always go wrong . "
Walter's face broke into a smile . " I guess you are correct about that , but i would never have called it a curse , more of a slight hiccup in the plan . "
Paige returned his smile . " You can call it what you like , but the truth is , something always went wrong . But your mind would always come up with a solution . "
They both walked across to Ralph as they walked into the room they were greeted by the sight of a flight of stairs , they were the full width of the gap .
"They seem very wide for stairs . " Walter said as his eyes checked each of the stair treads .
" They all seem safe , but just in case let me go up first . "
" Just be careful please Walter . " Paige said as she reached over and gave him a kiss on the cheek .
Walter began to climb the stairs , taking each step with care and listening intently in case he heard any sort of click , which could indicate the possibilty of some sort of trap . He reached the top and everything seemed fine , but to be sure he came back down again taking each step with care .
" Everything seems fine with the stairs , i am going back up and check the door at the top of the stairs , stay here until i call you . " He explained to Paige and Ralph . Both nodded in agreement .
This time Walter took the steps two at a time . He was soon back at the top , he tried the door and it would not move . " It seems to be locked . Ralph can you go back to my bedroom , on the bedside table you will find my bunch of keys . Would you mind fetching them for me ? "
" Course not dad , back in a minute . "
At that Ralph took of at a run . Ralph was back a few minutes later ,a bunch of keys clutched in his left hand . " Here you go dad . " He said as he handed the keys to Walter , who had come back down to stay with Paige .
" Thank you Ralph . Now i want you two to stop at the bottom of the stairs until i have got the door open and checked what is behind it . " Walter explained .
Paige was happy to do that , Ralph's face fell a little , but he knew it was not worth arguing with his dad .
Walter made his way up the stairs , the third key he tried unlocked the door . With care he opened the door a fraction , he heard no clicks or other noises , so he pushed the door all the way . He could not see much inside as there was no natural light , except for the small amount coming though the open door .
He took his phone out of his pocket and switched to light mode . He scanned the wall nearst to him and saw a light switch , switching it on the room became illuminated by two six feet flourescent tubes . He took a quick look round and everything seemed fine .
" Paige , Ralph all seems safe so come on up . " Walter shouted down the stairs .
He waited until they were both in the room , all three began to explore the room . It had been turned into a well equiped home office . On the desk sat a laptop , Ralph was immediatly drawn to it , Paige made her way to a filing cabinet and began looking through it's contents . Walter had spotted a door in the far wall , he walked over to it , turning the handle he realized it was locked . He removed the bunch of keys from his pocket and began trying them in the lock , it took until the fifth key to open the door .
Again with care he opened the door slowly . Again it was dark as there was no natural light , he took his phone out and using the light , he checked the nearest wall again he saw a light switch , he flicked the switch and again the room was illuminated , this time by one six foot flouescent light .
The room contained six long wooden boxes , painted on everyone in three inch high black paint FARM MACHINERY . His curiosty was tweaked , he walked over to the first box , which appeared to be nailed through the lid making them secure . Looking around he spotted a crowbar in the corner . He walked over , picked it up and then back to the box .
Using a certain amount of pressure he managed to pry the first board off . Within a couple of minutes the rest of the boards had been removed . The first thing he saw appeared to be just what it said on the box , farming equipment . He noticed what appeard to be a thick wax paper under them , he began removing the equipment and then pulled the wax paper away .
He was greeted with the site of some semi-automatic rifles . He was just about to shout Paige , when he heard her approaching him .
" Walter , i think we have got a bigger problem than we first thought . That filing cabinet is full of information about completed arms deals . Most of the customers seem to have code names on the paperwork , i am certain it is illegal arms deals . "
Walter turned around to face her . " I am sure you are correct . Look at this . "
Paige walked over to Walter and looked in the box , as she saw what the contents were her hand went up to her mouth . Walter pulled her into a hug and held her tight .
" We are going to need help , i think it will be a good idea to contact Cabe and see if Homeland can help . "
While Walter and Paige had been checking out their areas , Ralph had found a power cord for the computer and booted it up . Although password protected , within minutes Ralph was into the computer . He bought up documents and a mass of folders appeared on the screen . Pressing on the first one , again password protected , Ralph had soon broken the code and began to read it's contents . It seemed to be a file of private information , bank details , credit card information and a few personel letters to which appeared to be sent to friends .
He closed the file down and moved onto the next ,this again password protected , again it only took him a short time to get into the file . This one contained a list of names with numbers at the side , the names were not anyone's given names but appeared to be code names . The first few , Black Crow , Silver Fox even Camel Breath were there .
" Mom , dad , you had better come here i have got into the computer and something strange appears to have been taking place . "
Walter and Paige broke their hug and rushed in to see Ralph .
" What's up buddy ? " Walter asked .
" There are all these files on the computer , the first one was personel details , but the second one contains a long list of strange names . " As Ralph was speaking he pointed them out on the computer screen .
" They are the same names that are on the files in the cabinet . " Paige explained .
Walter for once seemed as if he was uncertain as to what to do . " I think a phone call to Cabe is in order , to see if he will come over . " He eventually said .
" Tell him to bring Allie if she would like to come . " Paige suggested .
Walter pulled out his phone and contacted Cabe . " Hello Cabe , i think we have come across a big problem , which could involve Homeland , could you come over to see us , it is to importent to talk about on the phone . Also ask Allie if she would like to come . "
Walter listened to Cabe for a minute . " No we are not at the condo , we are at my house . - Yes i said my house , we will explain when you get here . "
Walter gave Cabe the address and disconnected the call .
" Cabe said he will be here within the hour . " Walter told Paige and Ralph .
" Will Allie be coming ? " Paige asked .
" Cabe's words when i told him to come to my house , were try and stop her . " Walter answered
" Can i suggest we go back to the kitchen and get something to drink and eat some of the food i have bought with me . " Paige suggested .
Both Walter and Ralph just grinned . Walter switched the lights off in the office and locked the door before making his way down the stairs .
Walter picked up Megan's bassenet , who was still sleeping peacefully and carried it with pride back down to the kitchen .
Paige removed the food from her bag and after fetching some plates from the cupboard , she shared it out between the three of them . At the same time Walter made a fresh pot of coffee and poured Ralph a glass of milk .
As they finished their meal , Megan decided to make her presence known by giving a little cry . " Do you want to get Megan , while Ralph and i clear up . " Paige asked , a look on her face saying of course you do .
Walter was over to the bassenet immediatly and gently picked Megan up and craddled her safely in his arms . " Hello my little princess , i hope you have had a good sleep because you have missed so much of what as been going on . You will be meeting your one special pair of grandparents very soon , Grandpa Cabe and Grandma Allie . So i hope you are going to be good when they arrive . I am sure Grandma Allie will want to cuddle you . " Walter's voice cracked a little as he called Cabe and Allie , Grandparents . But the smile on Megan's face seemed to grow bigger .
" What a cute thing to tell Megan , i am sure you are correct both Cabe and Allie are going to be really surprised , but i am sure they will be happy . " Paige told Walter a big smile on her face .
Once everything was cleared away the three of them sat on the stools , Walter still holding Megan , to await the arrival of Cabe and Allie .
Ralph had a bit of a frown on his face . Paige looked at him and asked .
" Is something wrong sweetie ? "
Ralph looked back at her . " I suppose this will mean i will not be able to check out that big shed in the garden . "
Walter smiled as he spoke to him . " The shed is going nowhere , i think what we found today is a lot more importent . I am sure you would agree with that . "
" I do dad , it is i was so looking forward to finding out what it contains . " Ralph answered still feeling a little deflated .
" Tell you what if Cabe cannot really do much today , as it is Sunday , if there is , and i emphasise if , time we will go and take a little look . " Walter told him a smile on his face .
Ralph's smile came back on his face . " Thank you dad , i can accept that . "
Paige smiled at Walter as she mouthed . " Thank you . "
" My pleasure . " He mouthed back .
Ten minutes later there was a knock on the front door .
" I'll go you keep hold of Megan . " Paige told Walter .
As she opened the door a big smile came across her face as she saw Cabe standing there , a smile broke out on his face as he saw her .
She almost jumped into his arms , she had missed him almost as much she had Walter in the last ten months , but in a different way .
" Hello to you Paige . " Cabe managed to say as he hugged her back . " It is good to see you again . "
Allie walked up beside him , Paige released Cabe and hugged Allie , after a quick greeting she took them both into the kitchen . Both Allie and Cabe stopped dead when they saw Walter cuddleing a small bundle , looking at it with so much love in his face .
Their trance like state was broken by Ralph running from the kitchen island and hugging first Cabe and then Allie .
" Good to see you both . " He told them .
Once Ralph had released them Cabe turned to Paige . " I think you have some explaining to do . "
Walter spoke up . " It is good to see you both again , come and see your new grandchild Megan Louise O'Brian Dineen . "
Allie pushed past Cabe and went straight to Walter . " Could i hold her , please ? " Allie asked a big smile on her face .
Walter smiled at her . " Of course you can . "
He gently passed Megan over to Allie , at first Megan began to grizzle , but as soon as Allie started to speak to her , she quietend down .
" Paige she his absolutely beautiful . How old is she ? " Allie asked .
Paige with a proud look on her face replied . " A little over three months , i was pregnant when i walked out on Walter , i guess my hormones were all over the place . Which made me worse than i should have . After only a few weeks i realised how much i missed Walter , but it took another ten months to find him . " By now the pride had left her face to be replaced by sorrow , a tear running down her face .
Walter rushed over to her and hugged her . " Paige we agreed no more sorrow over the past , we just look forward . " Paige nodded and Walter wiped the tears away with his fingers .
As Paige looked back at Allie she noticed she had moved her left hand to give her a better hold on the precious bundle . Paige noticed the gold band on her left hand , a big smile came onher face .
" So Cabe was not kidding when he said his wife , when , were ? " As she spoke her hands came up closer to her face and she began to silent clap with small movements of her hands , the excitment in her growing . " Picture , there must be pictures , did you have pictures ? "
She walked over to Allie and leaning over Megan kissed her on the cheek . "Congratulations ."
As she pulled back , Allie began to speak . " A few months ago , Cabe was feeling down , he had a new job at Homeland , but i will let Cabe tell you about that . Anyway i persuded him to take a couple of days leave and go to Vegas for a long weekend . We drove down on a friday and arrived mid afternoon , we had already booked into one of the cheaper hotels on the edge of town .
That night we took an Uber into the main area , managed to book tickets to see Penn amd Teller the following night , then spent a pleasant evening just wandering around . After the show on Saturday night , Cabe took me to the musical fountains at the Wynn Resort , before i had realized he was on one knee and proposed . I of course accepted , he then suggested we get married the next day .
So Sunday we went to The Marriage License Bureau , after breakfast and by midday we were married at the Paradise Wedding Chapel . Before 12.30pm i was Mrs Gallow . They took about ten photos of which we bought eight . We can bring them when we come to dinner tomorrow . "
Paige then ran over to Cabe and hugged him tight . " Congratulations dad . "
Ralph shouted out . " Congratulations , grandad , grandma. "
Walter stood there just smiling .
Once Paige released him , Cabe walked over to Allie to check on Megan . " Allie is correct , she is beautiful . " Cabe turned to Walter , reached out and pulled him into hug . " It is good to see you again son . " A tear appearing in his eyes .
" It is good to see you as well dad and congratulations " Walter replied .
Thirty seconds later Cabe broke the hug and gave Walter a serious look . " You have not just asked us here to meet Megan . What is the problem ? "
Walter smiled at Cabe . " I think we should all sit down , Paige could you put Megan in her bassenet . Then we can fill Cabe and Allie in with what as been going on . "
Paige gently removed Megan from Allie's arms and put her in her bassenet .
" Bring her over by me so she can listen to my voice . " Walter suggested .
Paige picked the bassenet up and put it next to Walter on the kitchen island .
Walter looked in at Megan . " Now my little princess , are you going to be quiet while i tell grandad and grandma about the house . "
Megan's face broke into a big smile and a little gurgle came out of her mouth , almost as if she was saying yes .
Both Cabe and Allie looked surprised . Paige looked at them a smile on her face .
" It works every time , she has become a real daddy's girl over the past few days . "
" I never would have believed it possible . " Cabe said a big smile on his face .
" Let me put another pot of coffee on , Ralph would you like some more milk ? "
Ralph nodded , Paige made her way over to the coffee machine , filled it and switched it on . Cabe was talking to Walter explaining what he had been doing since the breakup of Scorpion . Paige listened to the conversation and again tears began to run down her cheek .
Cabe had been desk bound compiling statistics , from how many paper clips had been used this year over the average of the last five years , plus other useless items . It was Carlson's personal revenge on him for his connection to Scorpion . Cabe had suffered in silence as he needed to complete a full twelve months before he could retire on a full pension . But it was a demeaning position for him to be in , it was only Allie's persuasion that had made him stay . Hopefully so he could have the last laugh before he retired .
Once the coffee was made , Paige poured four cups and a glass of milk for Ralph and took them over to the others . She sat down next to Walter and pulled his hand towards her and held tight .
Walter began to tell Cabe and Allie about his job with Richard Elia and what he had been offered and the way he had been working under a false name .
Paige then told them all about her search for him and how it was only by chance she had found him . She went onto explain how they had finally decided to give things another chance , mainly thanks to Megan .
Both Allie and Cabe were surprised at the things that had gone on . Once they had gone through everything , very quickly , what had happened over the past ten months . Walter got a serious look on his face .
" Since i moved in i have only used this kitchen and the smallest bedroom in the house . In fact until after i met up with Paige last Tuesday , i had not even walked around the house so i had no idea what the house contained . As i explained Richard signed the house complete with all it's contents over to me , so Wednesday i arranged to have the house deep cleaned and the pool cleaned and serviced .
Thursday night after i got back from Paige's , i decided to have a quick look around upstairs . I found a lot of jewelery and cloths , both men and women's . The jewelery i took to Paige's condo on Friday night , because of the strangers coming on Saturday . it was arranged Paige and Ralph together with Megan would come over today and we would start going through everything . But as you know i had to call them over on Saturday . "
Paige interrupted him at this time . " We were only to happy to come . "
Walter smiled at her and gently squezzed her hand . " So they came back today , Paige wanted to catalogue everything . Ralph managed to get a wall safe open . That is when the problems started .
I began to go though the contents , they included $20,000 cash , bank statements for three banks showing a total balance in excess of $ 3,5 million . Also a set of deeds for a wharehouse in downtown L. A . "
Cabe interrupted . " Well the deeds would not come to you , even if it is part of the contents of the house . "
Walter nodded . " I understand that , but that is only the start of the problem . "
Cabe looked at him with some confusion . " I think you had better explain . "
" As i have told you already , i have not really explored the house . Until Paige came back into my life , it was just a place to exist in . However last night we did a walk through with Jackie , the cleaning supervisor . One of the rooms seemed a little bit off the design of the rest of the house . You know how my mind works and i began to piece all the different things together , the deeds , the large amount of cash and that one bedroom , that when you walk though the door , you have to walk down a corridor to get into the room .
I explained to Paige what i was thinking , she of course had the answer . She knew i would not settle until i had checked the walls that made the corridor . To cut a long story short , Paige found a secret door on the corridor wall . Once open it was a display of weapons on three walls . Ralph ran out and tried the opposite side and revealed another door , which opened onto a staircase . We eventually got into the room at the top of the stairs . Ralph got a computer working while Paige went through a filing cabinet . I went through a door at the far end of the room . Inside were six large crates marked Farm Equipment , i opened one , there was farm equipment on the top layer , under which was a thick waxpaper , when i removed it the rest of the contents were semi automatic rifles . "
Cabe's face did not show any emotion , he just said . " I think you had better show me . " Walter looked at Paige , before answering .
" Ok , but i will need both Paige and Ralph to come as well , as they have the information about the contents of the computer and Filing cabinet . However we cannot leave Megan alone . "
Allie immediatly got off her stool , looking at Paige she replied . " Well if you can trust me i will look after the young lady . "
Paige walked over to Allie and pulled her into a hug . " Of course i trust you . I can think of no one outside of Walter and Ralph who i could trust more to look after our precious little girl . If she should wake up , just talk to her in an even quiet voice , she does not understand you , at least i do not think so , it is just a human voice that seems to settle her . "
Walter walked over to Megan's bassenet and gently kissed her on her brow .
" Ok, let us show you what we have found . "
