Author's Note: I don't own Naruto.
Chapter II
The Verdict
Teams seven and eight, along with Kata, made it back to Konoha with little to no incident whatsoever. As they reached the gates, Kiba and Shino left to go home and do some chore they haven't done since the mission. That left Naruto with the three girls to report to Tsunade. Along the way, people turned to see the little girl that clung to Naruto's jacket. Kata was someone they never met before or seen for that matter. Her blonde hair with indigo splotches in it and her Byakugan were very unusual. Not to mention the way she clung to Naruto's jacket like some scared, shy daughter would. Some people, who still hated Naruto, made a face and one even attempted to grab the girl and pull her away from Naruto. This made Hinata angry instantly. It was like some mother's instinct kicked in and she didn't let the poor villager go without a cold glare and a quick Gentle Fist strike to the man's shoulder. The villager, backed off but not before muttering "foolish Hyūga, if you knew about the Kyuubi inside that boy you would do the same thing." Thankfully Hinata didn't hear him say this, unfortunately, Naruto did. Naruto's rage skyrocketed. His eyes turned slowly to face the villager and Naruto could've sworn he saw the village shake a little. "Do you mind not saying that again? Because I will pound your merciless, pathetic face into the dirt till there's nothing left to see." The villager, smirked, "make me." That was the mistake that left him out cold on the street. No one dared move to help him out. "Anybody else want to try?" Nobody did so the team continued their journey to the Hokage Tower.
They reached it with no more incidents. Tsunade looked up from the paperwork she was filling out to see Naruto, Hinata, Sakura, and Kata all standing there. "Well how did the mission go?" "It went alright but I found this little girl in the woods and she was crying." Tsunade looked down at Kata and stared in surprise. "Well this is very surprising. What's your name?" "M-my name is Kata." Tsunade studied the girl for a minute. She was kinda similar to Naruto, but the Hyūga's Byakugan made it seem like she wasn't related to Naruto. "Well do you have a father and mother Kata?" Kata nodded, obviously annoyed that Tsunade didn't put the two together on who her parents were. "They're both in the room right now! CAN'T YOU SEE WHO THEY ARE!!!?" Tsunade almost exploded on Kata when three things hit her at once. The first was Kata's physical appearance, the second was Kata's personality, and the last thing was Naruto's and Hinata's instant reaction to Tsunade's sudden movements. "Naruto, Hinata, did you two have sex or something when you were younger?" Everyone found it odd that she asked that, but Naruto answered "no why?" Tsunade took a deep breath and mentally prepared herself for the mental overload that was about to take place. "Naruto, Hinata, I believe this is your daughter." The room was silent for only three seconds before Naruto screamed "WHAT?" and sat down to get over his shock. Hinata had to sit down too, only she didn't see where she was sitting down and sat on Naruto's lap. Naruto was in too much of a shock to notice the light weight on his lap, but he did notice the long, indigo colored hair that was in front of him. He could also hear the quiet but quick breaths of Hinata as she tried to make sense of what ishe just heard. Soon she realized that she was sitting on Naruto's lap and promptly fainted. Kata looked down at her mother, then up at her father. Her mind seemed unused to seeing Hinata faint. Sakura didn't say anything the whole time, but her wide eyes and mouth agape gave away everything she couldn't say.
"Naruto, I know you're not exactly happy by the news, but you might want to keep an eye on her. Hinata you won't be expected to do motherly duties against your will." Tsunade said as she took a gulp of her sake. "Also, I will have a dna test ran on her tomorrow, I want you both there."
Later that day, Naruto took Kata to his apartment and let her have his room. "I got the couch." He said as he promptly plopped onto it and was fast asleep. Kata looked down at her sleeping father. She couldn't help but give puppy dog eyes. Kata was very much like Hinata in terms of personality. Though she had a fierce fiery personality that kicked in time-to-time. She curled up in Naruto's bed and was asleep in a matter of minutes. I'm
The next day found Naruto, Kata, and Hinata sitting outside a room while they did their dna test. Hinata was doing her best not to faint while Kata shifted uneasily. A little bit later and Tsunade walked out of the room. Naruto stood up. "Well, Naruto and Hinata, Kata is in fact your daughter. The dna showed definite signs of Hyūga and Uzumaki in it." Naruto fainted. This was definitely something no one expected from him. But the pressure on his heart might have had something to do with it. Hinata for her part, forgot what the verdict was and was instantly by Naruto's side, trying her absolute hardest to wake him up. Kata smiled in contentment, until her mother rushed to her father's side.
Hinata was so worried she forgot all about her shyness and turned Naruto over so she could give him CPR. Tsunade, thought it was a bit of an overkill since Naruto already showed signs of waking up when Hinata started. Imagine Naruto's surprise when he opens his eyes to see Hinata attacking his lips just to blow air down into his lungs while also having her tongue shoved into his mouth. Naruto started to move uncontrollably and Hinata instantly stopped. Naruto managed to get the excess air out of his lungs, but man was Hinata one hell of a kisser. Of course this didn't leave Hinata from fainting as she realized what she did. "Naruto, since it's been proven that you're Kata's father, you have full legal custody over her. And might I suggest you start the ninja academy." Kata didn't really want to be a Shinobi if it could be helped. She had simple dreams. Then something occurred to her, if she did start at the academy, then she could obtain her dreams after all. "I-I'll start the academy. But what about mama?" Tsunade looked down at the unconscious Hyūga. "She will be fine, she was just frightened a little." Naruto shifted uneasily, he never expected to learn that he had a daughter with a Hyūga. They mostly married the main branch and cadet branch together to keep the Byakugan pure. Though something told him that Kata's Byakugan was much stronger than any other Hyūga's. "Naruto may I suggest you take your daughter and get her some supplies, I'll let Iruka know he has a new student." Tsunade asked, "yes granny." Tsunade threw a fist, only to miss. He took Kata's hand and left the hospital.
Naruto let go of Kata's hand, but she still clung to his jacket. The villagers that looked at Naruto had looks of hatred on them. Kata could instantly feel the withering glare and wondered how did her papa not turn against the village. The village was newly built, which meant that Pain must have already invaded Konoha. Her father told her of what had happened during that battle. "Papa, why do people still hate you?" This caused some of the people in the crowd to instantly hate her. While others thought that Kata was merely calling him that. "Ah, that would be for another time, Kata." Kata frowned and puffed her cheeks out. Then her stomach growled, along with Naruto's. "I guess you're hungry too." Naruto said with a chuckle. Kata nodded. "Come on I'll get you some ramen." Kata's eyes lit up. Much like her father, ramen was one of her favorite foods. They made their way to Ichiraku and ordered two bowls. "So Naruto, who's the girl with you?" "Her name's Kata and I found her in the woods coming back from a mission." "She's so cute!" Ayame said as she tussled Kata's head and smiled brightly. Kata was couldn't help but blush a little at the attention she was receiving. Ayame always did that when she came with her father to get ramen. Sometimes Himawari and Boruto were there too. Others Hinata was with her. But no matter which time Kata showed up with her father, Ayame always tussled her head. She couldn't help it really.
After their meal, Naruto went and bought Kata some supplies. Kata had everything she needed to start the academy tomorrow by the end of the day. Well almost everything, she didn't have a good pair of sandals and Naruto couldn't find any that would fit her. That's when Hinata saved the day. She had come over to visit and found out from Naruto that Kata needed sandals. She immediately went and got a pair of her old ones to give to Kata. Kata was both very grateful, and very excited to see her mother again. While she made sure everything was ready for her first day, Naruto asked Hinata a simple question. "Can you pick up Kata from school tomorrow? I'm going on a mission tomorrow and I won't be there to pick her up." Hinata nodded, blushing as she did so. Naruto was everything she could have ever dreamed of in a man. Well, except for maybe not knowing she loved him. But she was willing to overlook that.
Hinata soon left after the fact and headed for her home. Kata went to bed to rise early tomorrow. Naruto stayed up, thinking. There's gotta be an explanation for as why Hinata is her mother... oh dear lord please don't tell me I did something stupid! But- ugh I can't think! With that he was off to his couch.
