"Woo hoo! That was awesome! Was that Tyranitar no joke or what!?" Nemona cheered as the gang emerged victorious from the Tera cave.
Penny had a more stunned demeanor, "Awesome!? We nearly got annihilated! That thing was crazy strong!"
Juliana was positive, "But we all made it! With us as a team, nothing can stand against us!"
"That's right!" Nemona declared, "I thought that would be obvious considering we survived Area Zero not once, but twice! Can you believe all that happened only a month ago?"
Arven cautioned, "That may be true, but we still need to be careful. There's no need to become overly reckless."
"I agree with Arven." Penny replied, "We should take a break, that one really knocked the wind out of us."
Nemona wasn't quite ready yet, "How about one more? Just one more! Then we can take a break!"
Arven sighed, "Typical Nemona always wanting to push it."
Juliana laughed, "I think we can handle one more! But maybe one that isn't so crazy strong. An easy one would be good!"
Arven looked at his girlfriend's bright eyed, cheerful face and relented, "Oh, okay… I guess we can do one more… As long as we've got cutie here, we won't lose!"
Juliana blushed, "Oh Arven…"
Penny shook her head, "Heh… I guess there's no harm in it… let's get searching!"
Nemona clapped her hands excitedly, "Yaaay! Let's go!"
The gang had been going on Tera Cave Raids all morning. None of them had classes that day and they decided that's how they were going to spend their free time. It was Nemona's idea, and the rest were up for it. It was enjoyable for all of them since it gave them the opportunity to see different Pokémon and they were able to battle side by side together.
So far, today was proving to be a fun day.
"There's one just up ahead, let's keep going!" Nemona urged the gang onward. They were in the west province, on the cliff right next to the bridge that overlooked Casseroya Lake.
"Isn't this view incredible?" Juliana stated, looking out over the edge.
"Careful, cutie!" Arven rushed to her to take her hand.
"Don't fall into the lake together." Penny snickered.
"That would be so cute!" Nemona fawned.
"Not from a fall this high!" Juliana argued. Arven put a hand on his face, "Will you two give it a rest already!?"
"You have Koraidon though! It would never let you down!" Nemona assured, "But come on, we're so close! Just across this bridge!"
The gang carefully crossed the wooden bridge in a single file line. Each had a hand on the shoulder of the person in front of them. Juliana took the lead, the gang had full faith in her. Plus, they knew if they went tumbling, Koraidon would save them. When they got across, everyone took a collective sigh of relief. Despite all their safeguards, it was always a comfort to get across that rickety bridge unscathed. That's when the gang saw the entrance to the Tera Cave.
But they knew from one look at it, that something about it wasn't quite right. The crystalized entrance was sparkly like they always were, but it was not one color to indicate the Tera Type. Instead, it was multiple vivid colors resembling a rainbow. If it weren't so odd, the gang would've found it quite pretty.
"What in the world is that?" Penny broke the silence.
"It's a Tera Raid entrance, but rainbow colored!" Juliana replied, "I never seen anything like that before."
"Cool!" Nemona enthused, "It must be a new kind of Tera Cave! And we can be the first ones to see what it is!"
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Arven cautioned, "This is something we've never seen before, we should just find another cave."
"At least its not those dark ones that contain those REALLY strong Pokémon." Juliana reasoned, "Could be worth checking out."
"I'm… definitely curious." Penny admitted, "I don't think I'll be able to walk away from this now that I"ve seen it."
"All right, it's settled!" Nemona declared, "Let's go in!"
Arven was still worried, but he agreed, "I guess it's still a Tera Raid Cave. It would be cool to see what kind of Pokémon is in there. All right, let's check it out!"
The gang approached the Tera Cave and exchanged confident glances with one another. Juliana and Arven's exchanged glance led to them joining hands. Then, on the count of three, they touched the mysterious rainbow crystal and allowed themselves to be vacuumed into the cave.
That's when things went from odd to frightening.
Instead of finding themselves face-to-face with a tetralized Pokémon, they were instead rapidly falling down a seemingly endless tunnel of darkness. With waves of unfamiliar energy surrounding them. The gang all began to scream in terror.
"Aaah! What is this!?" Juliana cried.
"What is going on!?" Penny yelled out.
"Oyeee!" yelled Nemona, "Where are we going!?"
"Everyone, stay together!" Arven shouted before reaching out and grabbing Juliana by the arm. Juliana followed his lead and turned to Nemona and grabbed her. Nemona then did the same with Penny. Despite being joined, the gang were terrified. They kept falling, faster and faster until everything around them was a blur. None of them knew what was going on, or what was going to happen to them. Several things were running through Juliana's mind. What have they gotten into? When was this going to stop? Where will this lead them to? Were they even going to survive!?
Then everything stopped, she didn't feel like she was falling anymore.
Juliana abruptly found herself in a large meadow, a place that she did not recognize. Looking around, she was surrounded by trees while standing in the center of this grassy clearing. The grass was tall and lush green with scarlet flowers growing in small bunches throughout the meadow. The scariest part of it all, was that she couldn't see her friends or her boyfriend anywhere.
"Arven? Nemona? Penny?" She called out to the environment but was only met with the echo of her own voice. It was completely silent, there wasn't even a breeze. She started to shake with fear.
"Where am I…?" She whispered, her voice trembling. She was scared to move from the spot she was standing in, afraid that she would be sent tumbling somewhere with one step.
Suddenly, she felt a weird sensation that was like a shiver. She looked down at her hands and legs and was completely astonished when she saw them slowly disappearing. Then a second later, she was floating. She went up higher and higher until the meadow was just a small dot in a sea of dark green trees. Until there was nothing else, everything faded to white.
Then she woke up.
"Uuuggghh…" She looked around and found herself back in the west province. It was a relief, but she still didn't see her friends. What she saw instead, was an Eevee, a Swablu, and a Skiddo. They all turned to face her.
"Juliana? Is that you?"
Juliana nearly fainted in shock hearing Penny's voice coming from the Eevee.
"Wha-!? Penny!? But you're… you're an Eevee!? What!?" She freaked.
"Yes, that's Juliana!" Nemona's voice came from the Swablu, "Oh thank goodness! Everyone's here!"
"Yes but were all Pokémon!" Arven's voice came from the Skiddo, "What in the heck are we gonna do now!? And how are we gonna change back!"
Juliana stood in shock; she had no idea how to react.
"What happened to you guys…? Why are you Pokémon?" She managed to say.
Penny pointed out, "You're a Pokémon too Juliana! Look at yourself!"
It was then when Juliana realized that she was holding onto a white flower that cast shade above her head. She looked at her hands to see that they were mitten like with very thin arms.
"Huh!?" She yelped out and rushed to the surface of the water. Instead of seeing herself, she saw a Floette staring back at her. It dawned on her quickly that she was the Floette.
"Aaaah! What happened!?" She jumped back.
"We're trying to figure that out." Arven calmly explained, "We all just woke up like this. This is insane."
"What was that cave?" Penny looked around, "That cave obviously had something to do with this. Let's jump back into it!"
The gang turned around to see that it was gone. Just like a normal Tera cave, it had disappeared.
"Well, that's just great." A frustrated Arven ranted, "How are we gonna change back now!?"
"Do you think we aren't trying to figure that out!?" Penny argued.
"Ugh, why'd we have to jump into that dumb cave anyway!? I knew this would be a bad idea!"
"Don't you dare start pointing fingers you big lunk!" Penny fired back.
Arven snarled, "Don't call me that, pipsqueak!"
"Guys, stop! Don't fight now!" Juliana jumped in between them, "We won't solve this by arguing! Please… we have to stick together!"
Arven looked at his girlfriend with a softened face, he sighed, "She's right… let's figure out what to do first."
Penny agreed, "The only thing I can think of is finding that cave again."
Nemona had a different viewpoint, she began to bust out laughing. Which bewildered the rest of the gang.
"What about this is funny to you Nemona?" Penny asked disdainfully.
"I'm just trying to make the most of this!" She enthused, "Look how cool we look! We're Pokémon!"
Juliana tried to chuckle, but couldn't manage, "Well… I'd rather be a human again."
That's when Nemona's face lit up, she faced Juliana and Arven, "Hey, wait! I wonder if you two would be able to mate and lay Pokémon eggs!"
A mortified Arven shouted, "WE'VE GOT LIKE A MILLION THINGS TO FIGURE OUT BEFORE THAT!"
"Okay, okay! That's enough!" Penny spoke above them, silencing them, "So… which direction should we head now?"
Juliana did her best to stay calm and consider their options, "In order to answer that, we have to figure out where that cave went somehow…"
Arven looked around and realized something, "Ugh, I don't see our bags anywhere. It's going to be difficult to do that without a map… We'd be walking blind, that's going to take us forever."
The girls realized that he was right. Their bags were nowhere to be seen, so none of them had their maps or their Pokémon with them. Juliana sighed and realized that this was going to be a venture more harrowing than the ones they've taken thus far.
"Oh geez, where did our stuff go…?" Penny groaned.
"Let's find someone and ask for help!" Nemona suggested.
Penny rolled her eyes, "And just how are we going to do that? Did you forget that we are literally Pokémon now?"
"That might be our only option." Juliana noted.
"Who are we gonna ask?" Penny inquired, "It's not like we can just walk up to somebody and be like, 'Help us! We're humans but we've turned into Pokémon!' right?"
Juliana thought about it until her face lit up, "I have an idea. Let's find Professor Jacq. He researches the Tera Caves constantly, I'm sure he'd have an answer for us!"
Arven was apprehensive, "I just hope he can understand us…"
Penny sighed, "Well, it's not like we have anything else to try. All right, let's do it."
"Onward we go! To the Academy!" Nemona cheered before floating ahead, "Haha! It feel so strange moving without legs!"
Juliana laughed a little and followed behind. Arven and Penny exchanged a look before rushing to catch up.
"What a mess we've found ourselves in…" Arven uttered.
"Tell me about it." Penny replied, "I hope we can fix this somehow."
Juliana remained optimistic, "I'm sure we can! We've gone through so much already; I know we can get through this!"
Penny explained, "You know, back before I met you Juliana. I would've done anything in the world to be an Eevee… Now that I'm one now, I just want to change back."
"Don't worry, we will." Juliana assured.
Arven chuckled, which caught everyone's attention.
"What's so funny?" Penny asked.
Arven smiled, "You actually look really cute like that Juliana. Being a Floette suits you."
Juliana blushed, "Thank you, Arven…"
"Oyye! Guys, I need help!" Nemona's frantic call from up ahead startled everyone, and they immediately rushed to find her.
She was face-to-face with a Tatsugiri. One that Juliana quickly realized was a bit too familiar to her.
"There you guys are!" Nemona greeted, "This little guy won't let me pass. I think he's gotta bone to pick with us!"
Penny raised an eyebrow, "That little thing? Wow. Okay then. I guess we're gonna fight this guy."
Tatsugiri faced the rest of the gang, and upon locking eyes with Juliana; it widened it's eyes and cried out, "Aaaahh! Tiitaaaaan!"
Juliana gasped, "I knew I recognized that thing!"
Arven was also shocked, "Whoa! It's the the False Dragon Titan! Sheesh, he just doesn't know when to quit huh!?"
Without further hesitation, the titan Pokémon attacked by shooting muddy water in the direction of Juliana and Arven.
"Watch out!" Juliana yelped and they all barely got out of the way in the nick of time. Arven and Penny ended up stumbling due to not being used to four legs.
"I'll get you!" Nemona yelled, but froze because she didn't know what to do. She lifted her wings but nothing happened. Instead, she did a clumsy, haphazard spin and was able to summon the power of the moon and was able to barely hit the Tatsugiri with it.
"Whoa, was that me!?" Nemona freaked out, "I think that was Moonblast!"
When the Tatsugiri didn't flee, Juilana decided she was going to try attacking. She shook the flower she was holding until curious leaves appeared around her. She observed the leaves for a second before she waved the flower like a baseball bat, which sent the leaves after the Tatsugiri. The False Dragon Titan ran around trying to avoid the leaves, to no avail.
"Ha! That's the move Magical Leaf!" Nemona enthused. Arven and Penny rushed to join their friends.
Tatsugiri tried to flee the leaves by diving into the lake, but the leaves all went into the water after it. The gang watched the surface and it didn't return.
"Okay quick, let's make our escape!" Penny shouted and they all started running. It wasn't an easy task considering Arven and Penny would stumble quite a bit. Nonetheless, they were able to make it to where they could see the town of Medali. They were finally able to stop and take a breather.
Arven sighed, "Sheesh, who would've thought having four legs would be so hard to adjust to!"
"We just need to keep practicing." Penny noted, "We'll get used to it on our way to the Academy."
"That's the spirit you guys!" Nemona encouraged, "Haha! That was so much fun I can't believe I got to battle as a Pokémon! Aaah! I want to do it again so badly!"
Juliana laughed awkwardly, "I think that should be the last thing on our agenda Nemona. Let's focus on finding Jacq."
"I hope we don't run into anything too strong…" Penny dreaded.
Juilana mentioned, "I don't think so. The wild Pokémon get weaker around these parts, especially close to the Academy. We should be fine."
"Yeah, that's true." Penny noted, "So hopefully we won't have any more problems."
Nemona was a bit disappointed, "Aww, I wanted to battle some more toughies…"
"You will Nemona, but as a human commanding your Pokémon." Juliana assured, "Now let's get going."
The friends continued onward, making their way back to the Academy. Juliana looked up at the clear sky and spoke aloud, "I can't believe this day started so normally, only to turn into this."
Arven replied, "I've come to accept the craziness as part of our lives now. But I wasn't expecting something anything like this." He kept a conscious thought on how he was stepping.
Penny observed, "At least we're not in Area Zero. Can you imagine how scary that would've been if this had happened there?"
"Don't even think about it." Arven stated firmly.
Juliana sighed in relief knowing that they weren't in Area Zero, "Thank goodness."
With that, they continued onward.
