Chapter 22
We're back on Route 7, and to our surprise, my Mom and Lillie's dad are approaching us. "Father, what brings you here?" Lillie asks.
"We're just stopping by. And it seems you've passed Kiawe's trial! Well done! Alright! That means you can now ride Charizard using the Ride Pager," Lillie's Dad responds.
"The Poke Pelago setup is complete, and we'd love to show you around," my Mom adds.
"Poke Pelago?" The other classmates look puzzled. I suggest, "How about we all head there together?"
Agreeing, we activate our Ride Pagers and head towards the Poke Pelago. Upon arriving at the Raft Hut, Kiawe remarks, "Interesting, I never knew such a place exists."
"Yeah, there are a lot of islands around this area..." Sophocles adds.
Mohn enthusiastically explains, "Welcome to Poké Pelago! These uninhabited islands are dedicated to the joy of Pokémon. I'm responsible for keeping Poké Pelago up and running. It's a place where everyone can come and have some fun whenever they feel like it. Currently, we have five small isles available for them to play on. Initially, there was just one, but thanks to gathering Poke Beans on the first island, we've managed to develop four more, and that's where we find ourselves now."
Lillie inquires, "What exactly is this hut?"
"This has been our very own private castle since the day we transformed these deserted islands into a Pokémon resort," my mom explains. "Mohn constructed this place, and I must say, it's quite impressive. We've got everything necessary here to maintain and operate Poké Pelago."
"Nice! I'm excited to start exploring the islands," Trenor expresses eagerly.
Our first destination is Isle Abeens, featuring a colossal beanstalk that showers an abundance of Poke Beans. Mallow marvels, "Wow... just look at the number of Poke Beans here..."
"Pokémon love Poké Beans. They're delicious and nutritious! And they can also sprout into Poké Beanstalks, like that one in the middle of the island. The one you just picked up is a Plain Bean. There are also rare Poké Beans called Patterned Beans and even Rainbow Beans! I love hands-on learning. Don't you agree? So why don't you give that Poké Beanstalk a good shake and see what happens?" Mohn suggests.
Eagerly, we shake the beanstalk, causing a cascade of Poke Beans to shower down. "Shake the beanstalk to drop some Poké Beans! Pick up the Poké Beans to add to your stores! OK, now you've got it! See! Isn't it better to learn by doing? You can collect Poké Beans once a day or so. If no new Poké Beans come tumbling down, then wait a day and then try again! Put some of the Poké Beans you collect into the Poké Bean crate on the island, would you? Then they'll be handy for any hungry Pokémon wandering around the island to eat anytime!"
We decide to put the beans into the crates, and once we're done, Mohn says, "Yup! That's a Poké Bean crate right there! You can drop Poké Beans in there, and the Pokémon will love you for it. Especially here on Isle Abeens. Leaving Poké Beans in the crate here can even tempt wild Pokémon to come by for a gander and some fun. Oh, yes! One more thing! The rarer kinds of Poké Beans will have their effects last longer. You might want to remember that fact! But as long as you fill the crate up, then you'll probably be A-OK. Don't you worry!"
The journey continues to Isle Aplenny, and my Mom points out, "Welcome to Isle Aplenny! We've utilized that lovely flat area to create a field where you can plant your Berries. Your Pokémon can have a great time tending to Berry trees and harvesting Berries right here!"
I inquire, "Was the inspiration for this from the berry fields in Camphrier Town?"
"Absolutely, that berry field is flourishing," my mom confirms.
Excitedly, we all decide to plant our own assortment of berries, anticipating a future harvest.
The journey leads us to the third island, Isle Aphun. Mohn explains, "Welcome to Isle Aphun! This island features a substantial cave where your Pokémon can embark on adventures. If you wish for your Pokémon to explore one of the cave's pathways, just inform me! Additionally, if they discover anything during their exploration, I'll ensure it's placed in the treasure crate located at the center of the island."
Excited by the prospect, we allow our Pokémon to venture into the cavernous depths of the giant cave. Much to our delight, upon their return, our Pokémon carry an array of treasures, reminiscent of the successful Stoutland hunt from before. Each Pokémon proudly presents their findings, adding to the excitement and wonder of our Poké Pelago adventure.
The next destination is Isle Evelup, and my Mom introduces it, saying, "Welcome to Isle Evelup! There are logs to climb, various things to explore, and a delightful sandy area for playing and exercising. Here, your Pokémon can enjoy themselves and grow stronger while having fun! Mohn has even prepared some special drinks for the hardworking Pokémon playing at Isle Evelup. It's a small treat from him for their efforts! When you're selecting a Pokémon to call out for playtime, you can also choose a drink to share with them. Your Pokémon will be thrilled!"
Ah, so this is the spot for some EV Training, which is good to know. As we arrive at the final island, Isle Avue, everyone is delighted to discover the hot springs there. Mohn explains, "Welcome to Isle Avue! I've utilized the warm water that wells up beneath this island to create a hot spring bath! Your Pokémon can unwind and feel completely at ease here. Additionally, placing an egg in the hot spring will accelerate its hatching process."
After a relaxing time in the hot spring, Lillie curiously inquires, "Dad, while you've been developing these new islands, have any new memories returned to you?"
Mohn's expression dims slightly as he responds, "I've managed to recall our initial meetings, although some memories remain hazy. I still can't recollect how I ended up in the Ultra Metropolis in the first place."
Concerned, I inquire further, "What about Gladion? Has he encountered you?" Mohn nods, explaining, "We crossed paths at the motel on Route 8. He seemed glad to see me, but he didn't appear to be the same kind-hearted boy I remembered... He's been rigorously training his Pokémon..."
"We've noticed. Gladion has changed quite a bit," Lillie remarks with a furrowed brow. "I wonder what our Mom did to cause this change..."
"I'm curious about that too," Mohn admits with a hint of worry in his voice.
Upon our return to Route 7, we make our way towards the barricade. The trial guide notices our Firium Z and exclaims,"Ho, that's a Firium Z! Congratulations on clearing the Fire trial! In that case..."
With a swift motion, she opens the barricade, revealing Route 8 beyond the tunnel. "Here you go. You can pass. The Grass trial is up ahead. Go along Route 8 and you'll find it: Lush Jungle!"
As we venture through the tunnel, we notice Kecleon creating invisible barriers, but they pose no obstacle for us as we possess the Devon Scope. Suddenly, Dulse and Zossie appear before us.
Zossie enthusiastically exclaims, "Wow! The aura readings are going crazy!" Spotting us, she calls out, "Hey! Ash and Lillie!"
Performing the Alola greeting, Dulse observes, "Interesting... So this is what you call a tunnel... I would like to investigate it further if we only had the time to do so... Greetings, Ash and Lillie. It seems your island challenge is going well?"
Lillie responds, "We're making good progress. What have you both been up to?"
Dulse contemplates, "It appears that my guess was correct: battling the Totem Pokémon, which are wrapped in aura, is having an effect on you as well. And those Z-Moves also envelop your ally Pokémon in aura, do they not? ...Are you able to fully control aura then?"
I interject, "Aura? Absolutely, we're quite adept at using aura."
Dulse reflects, "I suppose it does not matter to us either way. But once...long, long ago...our world was also awash in wondrous light, like the light of those Z-Moves that you can use..."
Zossie interjects, "Dulse? It's about time for our meeting."
"Yes." Dulse acknowledges. "We will be getting the aid of a scientist who is well-educated in the ways of Pokémon. We will need his help to find ways we might use our technology to achieve our goals."
After bidding us farewell, Selene expresses, "Those guys are still peculiar... but where exactly are they coming from?"
"In the Ultra Metropolis, a realm that exists beyond our world," I explain.
On Route 8, we opt to focus on training our Rowlet and Popplio. They seem determined to evolve into their second forms, especially after witnessing Litten's evolution. We engage in rigorous training sessions with Rowlet and Popplio. We concentrate on various exercises, practice battles, and fine-tuning their skills.
The sunlight gradually begins to wane, casting a warm glow across the landscape. Despite the fatigue setting in, both Rowlet and Popplio show unwavering determination in their training. We encourage them tirelessly, providing guidance and support, knowing that their evolution is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
As the sun starts to dip below the horizon, a sense of anticipation fills the air. Rowlet and Popplio seem to be on the verge of a breakthrough. With each passing moment, we can sense their readiness to evolve, their determination shining through.
And then, just as the last rays of sunlight fade, Rowlet and Popplio undergo a remarkable transformation. They evolve into their second forms, achieving a newfound strength and confidence. Rowlet blossoms into Dartrix, while Popplio evolves into Brionne, their evolution a testament to their perseverance and effort throughout the day's training.
Dartrix: The Blade Quill Pokemon: Grass and Flying Type. Evolve from Rowlet at LV:17. Supremely sensitive to the presence of others, it can detect opponents standing behind it, flinging its sharp feathers to take them out.
Brionne: The Pop Star Pokemon: Water Type. Evolve from Popplio at LV:17. It gets excited when it sees a dance it doesn't know. This hard worker practices diligently until it can learn that dance.
Amidst our training, we notice that Snowy, our Alolan Vulpix, appears a bit under the weather. Spotting an Aether Base nearby, we rush to seek help from the workers stationed there. Recognizing us, they readily offer assistance in treating Snowy's ailment. Additionally, they kindly offer us Malasada for dinner, expressing their gratitude for our previous interactions.
Nate remarks, "Having this Aether Base nearby is a stroke of luck, don't you think?"
Trenor nods in agreement, adding, "Seems like we won't have to camp out tonight either."
Observing Lillie's concerned expression, I gently inquire, "Still thinking about your Mom, huh?"
Lillie sighs softly, admitting, "Well... I just hold onto a glimmer of hope... that our family can be reunited once again."
"I'm sure they will." I nod as we decide to take a rest for today.
Here is a new chapter, and in this chapter, you can see that the Poke Pelago is finished. I hope you like it and the next chapter will be Route 8.
