Chapter VII: Edward Daniel Lee

Slytherin found Helga Hufflepuff in his swamp looking for frogs for a potion. The witch was a nun with Muggles , but powerful with her own. They shared a bed and Hufflepuff told him about her comrades in disguise. Godric Gryffindor, a squire to the king, and Rowena Ravenclaw, the healer. They met and decided that they no longer wanted to be hidden and alone.

They set off on the road together.

" My boy,

Thanks for responding Newt and me. I hope you are feeling better and that you are still trying to study a little. I took the liberty of writing you this letter after the questions about Grindelwald that you asked us. Newt does not know I'm writing to you, I leave it up to you to tell him or not.

Grindelwald and Albus had been very close for a time, and their affair caused great torment to wizards years before. Albus, however, managed not to fall on the wrong side and figured out who Grindelwald was. It took us years to stop him.

It was a fight that we didn't really want Newt and me in, but circumstances worked out for us. That is why I'm writing to you. Albus has always had a special talent for enticing people to follow him in his riskiest ventures. Newt understands that there is a rivalry duel going on in the school between Dumbledore and another teacher and that you are linked to it.

I'm begging you, distance yourself and stay out of it. You have other issues to deal with, so it's important to preserve yourself.. Whatever Professor Dumbledore asks of you, please say no. You're only fourteen, I don't want to know you're in danger.

I love you,

Tina. »

Eddy had read Tina's letter several times without knowing exactly what to do. He ended up stuffing it in his bag and following Sal on his way to potions class. Salazar still wasn't talking to Medusa. He had returned from his detention with his father, trembling and pale.

Eddy didn't know what he had done to him, but he hadn't spoken for two days. Beside his sister, he methodically followed the potions book in front of him without looking at her, yet they seemed to understand and communicate through gestures. Eddy barely managed to finish his potion with Gwendal. The potion didn't achieve the requested carrot color, but it was close enough to expect an average grade.

The bell rang and the students started to exit except for Medusa and Eddy. They glanced at each other and went to the old potions professor's desk. Salazar looked taken aback as Bellatrix and Rita stormed off, hurling insults at Umbridge's back. The Slytherin heir stood there staring at them, confused as Slughorn noticed them.

"Mr. Lee, Miss. Riddle. What is the pleasure worth to me?"

"We would like to learn how to make the Illuminial," Medusa said. "I've been trying to help Eddy for several days, but I can't."

He had communicated to Medusa all the ingredients he remembered without arriving at the requested potion. Slughorn looked as taken aback as Salazar:

"It's a very difficult potion, young blood! Medusa I know your natural dispositions in this subject but it is still well beyond your capacities.

Medusa did not budge, she took a little yellowish-brown vial out of her dress pocket, it was far from the expected gold.

"I'm trying to teach Eddy to make this potion so he can take care of himself, but I can't find the last ingredient. I identified them all, rose powder, lavender leaves, snake oil sap and verbena roots, but I couldn't find this last ingredient. Please professor, we need your help."

She had said it in such a charming, little-girl tone, and Slughorn seemed to melt at her innocent little face.

"I'm still impressed, Miss Riddle, but alas, that's not one ingredient you're missing. What makes this potion special is how it is cooked. On the last five minutes of the preparation, to avoid this tawny colour, you must illuminate your cauldron with a Patronus. The potion must bathe five minutes on low heat under the light of a Patronus so that it transmits its powers of protection to him. This is the recipe Albus gave me."

So, Eddy realized, he might never be able to make one himself. He was already struggling to cast a poor levitation spell, so a patronus? Slughorn understood his dismay and gave them a sorry grimace.

"I'm sorry young people, it's required for the potion to work. But I am very happy with your ambition Mr. Lee. You want to progress in potions for noble reasons. Miss Riddle being one of the best students that the school has counted it is indeed very wise to count on her. Why not start already with support lessons? Miss Riddle was so worried about you the other day that I'm sure she'll be willing to give help you. There are a lot of things to catch up on.

Medusa's face marbled a beautiful red hue. She wanted to reply something but already Slughorn wanted to end his day. He quickly escorted them to the door with Salazar.

"Oh, and Mr Lee, I'm having a little party for the end of the year, why don't you invite your tutor, Mr Scamander?" I have so much to tell and people to introduce to dear Newt. I'll send the invitation cards to all three of you shortly."

The door immediately slammed behind them.

Medusa couldn't stop an angry hiss from escaping her mouth. It must have been an insult because Salazar chuckled.

Eddy noticed that sticking out of the girl's pocket was a small black snake with a few pinkish scales. As soon as he noticed it, the snake plunged back into Medusa's pocket, who stuck her hand in it.

"Are you two friends now?" Salazar finally asked after several days without opening his mouth.

"It's a partnership," Medusa finally replies, too happy that her twin speaks to her again.

"I need those potions for this summer," Eddy muttered annoyed. "I could never make them myself."

"For what? Your tutors can't make it for you?" Salazar asked. "They are the ones who invented it from what you told me."

Eddy felt a little ashamed as Medusa nodded and told them to follow her quietly. They still had a few minutes before the end of the break. He hadn't told Salazar the whole truth about his plans for this summer.

"I'm going to look for my family this summer, but alone. Newt wants to come with me but it's something I have to do alone."

Salazar didn't answer, he didn't seem to approve because he frowned. Medusa led them to a small, outlying dungeon. It was there that the young girl had discreetly set up her laboratory.

Peeves was just inside. The poltergeist smiled with all his sharp teeth:

"All in shelters, here is the Obscurial and the crazy!"

Neither of the two boys reacted, Medusa either. She offered her brightest smile to the poltergeist.

"Thanks for watching the lab, Peeves."

"With pleasure, tiny Zaza, I'm expecting my payment soon."

He mimed a theatrical and exaggerated kiss before flying out the back door with a vulgar noise. At the end of the dungeon there was a huge cauldron, as well as other smaller ones, with a small kit of ingredients. Medusa was making several potions at the same time, some finished were stored in carefully labelled bottles.

"How do you get Peeves to listen to you, Zaza? " Eddy scoffed knowing how unbearable the poltergeist was.

Upon learning that he was Obscurial, Peeves had chased him with small bits of chalk to 'clear up' in his words, his Obscurus before McGonagall catapulted him out of the castle for a week as punishment.

"Among worshipers of chaos, we understand each other," replied the young girl with false airs of superiority. "I make him bombs and other traps for the Gryffindors. Since the beginning of the year, with him I managed to lose one hundred and fifty points to their house."

She seemed satisfied with this observation and pointed to the potion.

"So we need a patronus. Even if you can't spawn any yourself, I can make your potions for you.

"Do you know how to conjure up a patronus, Medusa?" Salazar wondered.

He was feverish and trembling. He kept glancing through the door with the desire to go outside. He didn't like being in this dark little dungeon lost in the basement of the castle.

"I've never spawned one, but it doesn't have to be complicated.

She drew her wand before trumpeting confidently:

"Expecto Patronum!"

But nothing happened. Not even a thin silver streak came out of his wand. She looked at the pointed tip in confusion, then repeated. Once, twice, then ten times. Medusa became red with rage; Eddy understood that a spell had never resisted her for so long.

"We're going to class. The break is over", she gritted in an evil voice. "Tonight meet here before dinner for your private lessons. Don't be late."

She turned on her heels angrily. Eddy looked at the cauldron one last time as they left the dungeon Salazar and him. Sal looked pensive.

"She won't be able to conjure a Patronus," he predicted quietly. "Me neither, I think."

He hadn't even tried, yet Eddy had no trouble believing him. They went on to the next lesson and the rest of the day.

Eddy therefore returned the same evening to the dungeons with Salazar, but arrived in the Hall, they were stopped by Professor Dumbledore, who was advancing towards them with a cheerful air.

"Mr. Riddle, Mr. Lee, it's good to see you. I wish I could talk to Eddy for a moment, if that's not too much to ask, Salazar."

Salazar nodded awkwardly and seemed in a hurry to disappear. He left them to go to the park under the setting sun.

"How about we go for a walk too, Eddy? I have spent all day answering letters from worried parents; I need to stretch my legs."

A little embarrassed, the teenager followed his teacher towards the exit, sensing that the students were giving their duo a funny look. The stares and whispers hadn't really stopped since his secret had been out. Some even seemed angry that he hadn't made the decision to leave school on his own. If no one dared say anything for fear of the Gorgons, it was not ideal either. Even some teachers seemed fearful like Professor Belline who kept seeing dark omens in his crystal ball much to Trelawney's delight.

They walked for a few moments in silence as Charm came towards them, a spider the size of a fist in her mouth. He chewed it with delight while leading the way ahead of them. Eddy didn't quite know what to say. He was soon to join Medusa.

"You know your forest is full of Acromentulae, Professor?" he asked if nothing else.

"Yes, Eddy. Hagrid told me. You see, years ago when he was around your age Hagrid adopted Aragog and raised him in the castle as the monster of Slytherin raged. Tom, then prefect, had him accused in his place and expelled from the castle. Aragog took refuge in the Forbidden Forest and found himself a wife there. Ever since Tom came back to teach here the spiders have been restless and expanding their territory. The presence of three heirs of Slytherin worries them."

Eddy shot a look at his teacher. Inevitably he knew. He had been investigating Professor Riddle for a long time already.

"I knew as soon as we opened the Chamber of Secrets that it was him, but I couldn't get him to confess or catch him in the act. Tom has been quietly biding his time ever since. I know you got a letter from Tina telling you not to get involved in this case, she sent me one too."

Eddy thought he had actually been involved for a while.

"Professor Riddle offers to confront the Obscurus within me and help me regain my memories. Can legilimency help me, Professor?"

"I don't think that's a good idea, Eddy," his teacher cut him off frankly. "The last time you woke up the Obscurus we almost lost you."

"But Faw- _

"But Fawkes can't cry on command, Eddy," Dumbledore said softly. "I think you should wait a little longer before confronting these memories. Trauma is hard to overcome."

"But I have no time!" he got angry. "If there is a way that I can at least know my roots and where I come from before I die I have the right to know!"

Dumbledore looked pained. At the end of May, the sun had not yet completely set. Eddy stared angrily at the forbidden forest that stretched out before them, refusing to look at the old man.

"Time, you will have it, Eddy, do not rush things. Your treatment is still quite experimental, we are still working on fixing it."

"At the cost of continually being some sort of circus freak or lab rat and not being able to use my magic. I have no chance of making it to the fourth year!"

Dumbledore sighed. Charm had finished chewing on his spider and was watching them impatiently.

"Medusa Riddle has offered to help you with your revisions, according to Professor Slughorn, but when it comes to the practical part of your exams, your teachers will be more understanding, Eddy. We're making sure you can have the normal life you deserve, maybe that's how you'll heal."

"But my life isn't normal already," snapped Eddy. "I have to leave, I have support classes."

He turned on his heels, hearing Dumbledore sigh again. Charm watched him go as he angrily walked back to the castle. As he went down to the basement, he was surprised to meet Skeeter who had a packed lunch under his arm.

"Where've you been? We've been waiting for you for so long."

She pushed him forward, her basket in hand.

"But what are you doing here, cockroach?" the boy asked indignantly.

"You couldn't make it, so Med called Bella and me. Say, is it true that your tutor confronted Grindelwald? I absolutely have to write this in the newspaper, you wouldn't want to ask him for an inter-

But Eddy wasn't listening to her anymore; they had already entered the dungeon. Bellatrix was indeed there, nonchalantly filing her fingernails with the tip of a small penknife while Medusa busied herself with her potion.

"Finally there? I told you not to be late!"

"What are the two vipers doing there? I thought we had to revise."

The two aforementioned vipers growled. Bellatrix jumped to her feet while Medusa snapped back.

"I've been waiting for you for almost half an hour, after a while they finally joined me."

"I went to get food in the kitchen," Skeeter hissed. "You could say thank you."

"And we can't decently leave Med alone in a dungeon with a suspicious boy like you, Lee. Imagine what it would be like. So how do you need crash courses? I can't wait to start helping you, you filthy little squib."

Rita began her bacon sandwich with a sneer, Bellatrix rubbing her hands in anticipation.

"How does it help me revise?" scolded Eddy, thinking he would have liked to be left alone with Medusa.

Bellatrix rolled her eyes and gestured impatiently and Medusa stood up, dusting herself off.

"You're the worst student in our class and I don't have to do anything but have you revise every night. We three are going to do it, we only have one month left. I'm the best in Potions and Defence Against the Dark Arts, Rita in Transfiguration and Bella in Charms and History of Magic."

"Why are you helping me? Two months ago you tried to torture my Kneazle, you crazies."

"Because Lee," Bellatrix whispered cruelly, "there's nothing more satisfying than torturing someone by reminding them of everything they don't know and that we're superior to them. All the things you don't know we 're going to ram them into your little redhead's skull with a wand."

"Torturing you like this will even be considered a good deed by the teachers," Skeeter marvelled.

The two gorgons smiled at each other, delighted with this state of affairs. Eddy held back a sigh, as he suddenly felt like running off to find Salazar in the Forbidden Forest. He would have liked Charm to be with him to get rid of the three vipers. Still, they seemed less vindictive than usual and Medusa gave him a pleasant smile.

"Come on, we have our work cut out for you, sit down," she added when he met her gaze.

So he did it, obediently invaded by this strange torpor which characterized the young girl's gift. He groaned as Rita and Bellatrix giggled.

"Alright, let's start with the basics I guess," Medusa hissed. "The importance of properly lighting your cauldron on fire distributed evenly and not just likes a clumsy little piglet. "

"It's Gwendal lighting it with his wand. I am without magic, I remind you, Gooses."

Rita sighed and threw something at his head, he caught it. It was a small packet of typical Muggle matches. He frowned in surprise that Skeeter had that in his stuff.

"Then use the semolina you have instead of the brain, and use that instead! And to think that you're a Muggle son ... Damn Lee, I'm devastated," the blonde was alarmed, realizing the magnitude of the task.

"Salazar first of his name be my witness, you'll come out of here having learned something or you won't come out of this," Bellatrix whined. "You will pay me back, Medusa."

And somewhere, Eddy took her word for it. He swallowed.

.

.

.

He had spent hours and hours with the Gorgons over the past few weeks. He only saw Sal in the dormitory. But it seemed Kheiron and Gwendal had pretty much accepted him as he saw Salazar talking to his two comrades in the bathroom as he returned from a review session. He was washed out, shaking, and dizzy from all the information, but he knew he had made progress. Maybe under the petty pokes of the Gorgons he had finally learned something because precisely he worked a little like that? He liked verbal fights somewhere, and the three were not bad in their way to swing horrors.

"Come on squib, hurry up," Bellatrix hissed precisely a few days before exams. "Who started the 3rd Goblin War? I have to go to my Quidditch practice soon. Our game is tomorrow!"

"Tardigrade the Tent?"

"Hanigrad the Tensed! You're so dumb, I can't believe we let this come to class with us."

She giggled in wicked glee and threw her history of magic textbook at him, he was able to dodge it just in time. He sighed wondering what he was doing with her. Medusa and Rita hadn't been able to come, so he was alone with a tense and angry Bellatrix.

"No one care about history," he replied acerbically. "What's the use of learning all these names?"

"I'm not surprised you don't have any history," she snapped. "History is our heritage, what those before us fought for and their mistakes. This is the story of our blood, but not of yours, nor of all those Mudbloods."

She stood up and brushed herself off, looking at him with contempt, one hand on her hip.

"I hear you won't live long, is that true?" she continued. "You surprise me that you have nothing to do with history, you will die before you reproduce, little junk obscurial. You will have nothing to bequeath, nothing to leave behind other than regrets."

"Shut your mouth!" he growled at Bellatrix. "You what will you have to bequeath apart from your twisted genes? Who will want you anyway?"

He stood up abruptly and Bellatrix grimaced cruelly.

"How about we practice duelling, you and me?" These are revisions after all. In five minutes it will be over and I can go to my Quidditch practice."

She drew her wand then because he did not move, she sneered:

"So? You can't throw me out the window, there isn't one."

She cast a spell at him, which he dodged at the last second and he took out his wand to retort, only again, nothing happened.

"Come on, faster than that, or I'll take care of you muggle-style."

A sadistic smile crossed Bellatrix's pale face. She approached and gave him a resounding slap. Anger rose as he felt his magic crackle.

"I'm not going to hit a girl," he replied, trying to walk away with his fists clenched.

"I'm not going to be shy," Bellatrix hissed, roughly grabbing his arm and punching him. "Defend yourself Lee, by Salazar!"

The blow was so violent that he banged his head against the wall and felt himself go for a moment.

He was cold, hungry, he was tired. He was waiting for mom to come back. He was there, behind him. He heard him. He smelled whiskey and knew a hit was coming.

"EDWARD- _

"LEEEE!"

Suddenly Eddy woke up. He was lying on the ground in the middle of the dungeon with Bellatrix hovering above him. She flapped her arms and hands like a furious bat.

"Get me down and quick! I've been calling you for age by Morgana's pants!"

Not quite sure what to do, he resolved to calm himself down by calming his breathing and trying to focus on a tale in his memory. It worked. Slowly, Bellatrix began to descend as if restrained by an invisible lasso and in a surprising little loop, she was dropped to the ground.

When she looked up at him, she was even more dishevelled than usual and had an expression of pure joy, almost ethereal madness he had never seen in anyone.

"That was awesome! Oh that was really too cool. I loved it! Do it again!"

"Are you okay?" he asked more out of irony than concern when she had just hit him and insulted him.

Getting hit…just like with his father, he thought, remembering the scream he had heard while he was unconscious. He had heard his call. If he had turned around he could have seen him reading … and maybe his mother.

He glared at the still ecstatic Bellatrix.

"Thanks! I think you unlocked something!"

She seemed to wonder if this time it was he who was okay. Then, corrected herself, looking at her watch:

"At your service. Break your little Bowtruckle face and get me kicked, of course. On the other hand, if you tell others that I'm helping you, I'll bleed you dry."

"Sold."

And they parted there, each speeding off in an opposite direction.

Eddy with a pounding heart, practically ran without stopping to the second floor, then after taking the last step of the stairs to the landing, he stopped.

On the strength of his discovery, his steps had naturally precipitated him towards the Defence Against the Dark Arts floor. Somehow, he was not surprised.

He was terrified but he had made his decision a long time ago. So, suppressing a tremor, he walked down the hall. It was late afternoon, classes had long since ended.

He knocked on the door to Professor Riddle's classroom. No one answered him so slowly he entered.

The large lunar globe was off, it was the first time Eddy had seen the large windows without their usual opaque curtain. The sweetness and dampness of the coming summer poured into the room. Mr Riddle was in the sunshine carelessly correcting papers on his desk. He had taken off his robes and was working in trousers and shirt, sleeves rolled up. Even in this illumination, there was something cold and dangerous about him. His big black ring glinted with purplish rays under the beams of light with each movement of his hand. It was completely unreasonable to come back to this guy, yet only he seemed able to understand this violent and shattered part of him that he knew so badly how to hide.

"Usually when you don't answer, you don't want to be disturbed. Have you also forgotten the basics of politeness with the amnesia that gnaws at you?" his teacher asked without moving or even looking up at him.

"If you use legilimency on me, what you see won't come out of this classroom. Never. Or I will repeat what I translated for you to Dumbledore."

The professor then looked at him, putting down his quill. He barely had the hint of a smile. He actually seemed awfully quiet.

"'Threats? You are learning to bite, that is good. But nevermind it is understood."

Riddle stood up. Eddy noticed that around his neck was the same locket he had seen at Slughorn's party. Without the professor's robe, he could see the elaborate pendant of a gemstone snake. He shivered; the obscurus in him felt the black aura emanating from the jewel.

"We'll start tomorrow, during the game," his teacher said, crossing his arms over his chest.

Eddy nodded, preparing to leave.

"Oh, and I was just correcting your essay. The progress is considerable when one is well oriented."

He gave him an enigmatic little smile, a sign that he would say no more.

Eddy shut the door as he left.

.

.

.

When the evening came, Salazar had offered to read the stars in the sky with his centaur friend Silvana in order to bring him luck for the exams and the coming summer. It was probably a bit silly but somewhere he was thanking his friend for managing so well to calm his dark thoughts. As they entered the forest, Salazar turned to him:

"Go to the game tomorrow."

He started walking again without a word. Salazar knew exactly what he intended to do, and with whom. He thought he might be right but Sal didn't want to add anything so he didn't retort further. They didn't have to walk long, Silvana arrived, her quiver hanging from her back. She seemed happy to see them and gave them a tender smile. Nevertheless, she kept throwing tense glances behind her, fearing to see her centaur brother appear.

"Something has changed in you, little boy full of magic."

"I'm not a little boy," he grumbled as the Slytherin and Centaur snickered.

He realized that he didn't really know how long the centaurs lived, probably a long time considering the wise air that the young woman wore.

"But you are far from mature, little man. It will come in time."

He gave her an ironic grimace.

"Is there a star in the sky or anything else that can tell me where my family is?" Eddy asked, looking up at the glittery sky.

He took advantage of the mild summer, thinking that he had rarely been so well. He was alive, in fairly good health, had friends and had made tremendous progress. Could he have thought that a few months earlier?

Silvana slowly raised her gaze to the sky, in her dark eyes the stars seemed to be reflected like a mirror.

"There are many paths to take to find your heritage, you just have to know how to take the right one."

It was as enigmatic as Belline and Trelawney's predictions about him, he thought bitterly.

"Are you going to spend the whole summer looking for them?" Salazar finally questioned after half a minute of silence.

"No, I'm going to find myself a job for the summer too. I have to make some pocket money to be able to be on my own."

Eddy refused to ask for help from his guardians. He hadn't spoken to them lately and hadn't confided his project to them alone. Somehow, he knew very well that they would refuse everything altogether. He was therefore keen to show his independence to Newt and Tina in this way. If he bought himself the necessary for his trip, maybe they would be more inclined to receive his arguments? Eddy knew that whatever their decision was, his was made. He would leave this summer in search of his family.

"And you? What are you going to do during the holidays, with Medusa?"

"Our father will be busy elsewhere for a whole month. I think we'll stay with our mother," the boy whispered in a voice so small he could barely hear it.

Eddy sensed his dismay and thought of Mrs. Riddle at Slughorn's party. It was just, he realized, her features were blurry and confused. He would have been incapable of even remembering her face! He frowned.

"Darkbloods are capable of being forgotten, they're not people to be remembered, they pass by like silhouettes," Salazar said softly, seeming to read his thoughts. "She's a squib, but those powers are enough."

Eddy wondered how that was enough but didn't really dare ask for more information. Salazar was back in thought. Silvana put a soft hand on the brunette's shoulder; -who neither reacted nor tried to free himself. Eddy wondered why an heir of a blood supremacist had decided to marry a squib if not for his strange abilities. He thought that it was certainly not love that bound these two people, and it was visibly reflected on the twins.

"I'll ask Newt and Tina if I can invite you home at the end of the summer. Normally that won't be a problem."

He might be moving forward a little, but Salazar's eyes lit up with sudden joy.

"It probably won't be possible, but it's nice of you to try."

He plunged back into his silence and the centaur tried to cheer him up without much success. Eddy also returned to his thoughts, fearing the next day.

.

.

It was the last match in the Quidditch season. There was something oozing and dangerous in the air. The students made their way to the field wearing the colours of Gryffindor and Slytherin, darting the sky with worried glances.

A storm was about to unleash on the school and the tops of the trees heaved furiously under the first gusts of wind.

He saw Medusa peeking worriedly out of the large windows before following Bellatrix and Mulligan, their brooms under their arms. Salazar was reading quietly and when Eddy stood up, the boy looked up:

"Have fun."

"Thanks."

He put all the enthusiasm he could into it before rushing off after Shafiq. Only, no sooner had he entered the doors of the Great Hall he told Gwendal and Shafiq that he had forgotten something. Then, he headed upstairs hiding among the steady stream of students descending to the field. He began to run up to the second floor. Once in the hallway, he collected himself and breathed a little. He knocked on the office door.

"Come in," a dry voice answered.

He entered without waiting, but with a feverish haste. The room was dark again, only the globe shone with a whitish glow above their heads. Professor Riddle had pushed the desks back against the walls and was in the middle of the room, a levitating tome in his hands as he read.

When he approached, he saw that what Mr Riddle was levitating was the study on his case written by Newt and Tina.. He held back a grimace. His teacher's strange obsession with him made him nervous.

"Do you know how legilimency actually works?" Riddle asked without looking at him, flipping his page with a flick of his finger.

Then when he did not answer, the professor continued:

"Legilimency is the means of penetrating an individual's memories, emotions, and thoughts. This is what you will have to confront during our sessions. However, without magic you seem incapable of defending yourself alone against what assails you. But anger seems to be your best driving force."

He closed the Scamander thesis and fluttered it nonchalantly to his desk.

"So we're going to reiterate the little experience you had yesterday with Miss Black. What was the trigger?"

Eddy wondered how he knew of such a thing, did Bellatrix told him? He looked down:

"Bellatrix insinuated that I would never have an inheritance…nothing to leave, no children, no history," he managed to mouth. It pissed me off, we got into a fight and she hit me."

"And what happened after that?"

"I…I felt myself go, and I heard my father's voice, and when I came to, I was on the ground and Black was hovering above me."

"Violence gave birth to your Obscurus, it is therefore through violence that it will have to be purged."

He had taken out his wand, Eddy shuddered:

"Are you going to hit me?"

"I won't stoop to such a thing, Mr. Lee. I just wanted to check if I should use the soft way or the hard way."

And without another word, he grabbed the collar of his robe to force him to look at him. He looked up into his eyes.

He was cold, hungry… he was so tired. Mom was coming soon, she had promised to come back. He would be waiting for her but he was so scared. He had to wait for him, above all not move from where he was, otherwise Mom wouldn't find him.

Where was mom?

"EDWARD DANIEL LEE! WHAT ARE YOU GETTING UP!?"

He felt a powerful blow struck him forcefully on the temple from behind. Eddy screamed. He felt himself leaving.

He was thrown into another memory. Mom was in the trailer with Dad and he was waiting barefoot in the cold. Dad was yelling at Mom again. He heard a knocking noise and rushed to knock on the door. It finally opened and he saw his father. He was so tall, a real giant of almost two meters. His face was as red as his hair. The giant frightened her, but the giant was in front of Mom.

"Get out of here, you brat of my blood!"

"Danny leave him alone! I beg you!"

It hurt so bad...

His magic exploded inside him. He felt the force of his powers hit Riddle's mental barriers. He only saw an image there, a big fire, and a little boy in the middle. Lord Voldemort is born.

When he emerged, it was because Professor Riddle had thrown him to the other end of the class. His head hit the wall behind him. When he painfully looked up at the heir of Slytherin, he saw the reddest, most monstrous look he had ever seen. The charming Professor Riddle was gone, his features creased and he looked like a snake about to attack.

"Well, Edward Daniel Lee, it looks like you can use Occlumency, congratulations," he hissed like a snake ready to bite.

Eddy swallowed his saliva askance as the professor approached. They knew very well what one had seen of the other, both of them.

"Who is…Lord Voldemort?" he managed to articulate.

The grin his teacher gave him was so icy he feared he was going to kill him instantly. Riddle paralyzed him with a gesture. As his teacher arrived with wand raised, the door swung open on Salazar.

"Cru-

"Leave him alone!" Salazar interposed , pulling out his wand.

He cast a bluish spell on his father who expelled him with a gesture. Riddle then turned to Salazar with the same expression of furious madness. Sal had pressed himself against the wall of the classroom, refusing to look at his father. He held his wand with a trembling hand. Professor Riddle stalked towards him while holding Eddy hostage against the wall.

He leaned towards his son, calmly. Eddy, helpless could not move still under the influence of the narcotic. He saw Riddle hissing something in Parseltongue at Salazar in such a sharp voice that he felt shivers creep up his spine. His son looked at him blankly with fear, then his big eyes widened in horror. He struggled against him for a moment before his gaze became glassy and blank. In terror, Eddy saw him lower his wand as the professor's hissing voice continued. When Riddle Father spun around to him, he had calmed down. He offered him a grimace stuck like a cruel mask on his pale face.

Salazar still looked the same blankly, so slowly Eddy realized what he had done to him. He had cast the Imperium Curse on Salazar.

"You are sick! I'll go see Dum -

"Go ahead," the professor hissed in a nasty voice. "Then you will know what he has done and why he cannot do anything against me. He will sink without taking me with it!"

Terror and anger competed for favour in his head. This man was just completely nuts. He felt the Obscurus within him awaken. A powerful ray shot out within him and hit Professor Riddle. Eddy got up and grabbed Sal's arm, urging him to run. Professor Riddle had let them go and didn't chase them down the halls. After arriving near the dungeons and releasing him, Eddy noticed that Salazar was pale and shaking like when he had returned from his special detention with his father.

Salazar suddenly leaned over to vomit. Eddy wanted to approach and help him, but Salazar violently pushed him away. Sal got up cleaning his vomit with a wave of his wand and turned to him:

"You had to be at the game! What you have seen, never repeat it, by Morgana!"

Eddy had never seen him in this mood. He thought shamefully that he had gone back to Professor Riddle knowing what he was capable of. Just seeing Medusa and him.

"I'm sorry Sal… but it's too bad. We have to go see Dumbledore!"

"I told you no! This old man will only get us in trouble. It's for your own good, so keep quiet!"

He now had a truly angry and icy expression. Thus, he looked exactly like his parent, except for his piercing blue eyes that set him apart.

"Don't say anything about that day, and I won't tell your guardians that you're going to run away if they don't let you go this summer."

He was already turning away with a brisk step. Eddy was furious that he had used legilimancy against him and he scolded him, acerbically:

"I'm tired of making pacts with your family members!"

"Then stay away from us!"

He left him there without a word.
