"Chapter 3 - Bloody Springs"
September 29, 1757 - Dawn
It's been 9 days. Not a single person in sight. I don't where but for sure as hell not in England. I've been surviving all this time eating the random fruit I've found on this mysterious land and drinking its different tastes of water. I don't know how long till I find someone, but who knows if it will be anytime soon. So if there is no one on this deserted land, let this entry be my final one. May The Spirit prove me wrong.
As Dustin closes his journal, the sound of footsteps emerge out of nowhere, causing Dustin to get up quietly and hide behind a bush. As he does, he takes a good skim and sees two dogs, a woman and girl, walking down the woods, picking up flowers along the way. In the midst, Dustin observes them and sees the clothes, their style of living, and the way they speak.
"Do you think Dad will like these kinds of flowers?", asks the tiny, light purple poodle child to the woman.
The pink poodle woman responds with kindness, "Ahh, orchids. Your father loves these kinds of flowers, dear. You should bring some more for when he comes back."
Dustin, admiring from a distance, ends up moving his leg and cracking some leaves and sticks on the ground. As the sound is made, the woman and girl look up to see who was there, paying close to each tree and bush.
As the child goes behind the woman, the lady questions, "Who goes there!?"
Dustin, not sure what to do, ends up responding with a shaky voice, "No one, just….some man."
"Are you going to harm us!?"
"NO, no, I have no intention of doing such action, but I would appreciate it if you all just leave."
"And why do want us to do that—"
"Because I want NO HARM!"
With such a response, the woman is now rather confused, getting the curiosity to know who this man is exactly.
"I am going to walk towards you, alright!," shouts out the woman, with much hesitation.
With no other option, Dustin is forced to stay there and hope for the best. Once around the corner of the bush, the woman finds the exhausted and hunger-filled Dustin sitting down, left defenseless and broken down.
"Please, just, leave me here. I am just a man in his last moments," Dustin talks out, with no other thing to say.
"Dear god, sir you need immediate attention, please, let me help you," insists the kind woman, as she begins to try to lift Dustin and carry him from the arm, "My house is not far from here, 2 minutes walking actually."
"You didn't have to, Mrs.—"
"Rosie, Rosie Spatz, and yes, I do have to," answers Rosie.
This being said, leaves Dustin thinking more, understanding more what Him was teaching.
30 Before Noon
"Wow, that story sounds….umm, unforgettable," responds Rosie to the tale of Dustin.
"I know, but I know that the story sounds unbelievable and ludicrous at the same time. So if you don't wanna believe me, then don't," Dustin assures, with the feeling of exhaustion.
"Well, the story does sound out of the ordinary, but, if a person believes what they believe is good, then I believe it. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone or any specific creature. And knowing this, you most likely are tired and depressed from the amount of deaths you've experienced, right?"
"Right, but so far it is just only two deaths, so I wouldn't consider myself crazy yet, but tired nails it spot on."
With this said, Dustin takes a moment of silence and digs his face into the palms of his hands, and exhales deeply. Seeing this, Rosie gets up and goes to broom the house. As she begins brooming, she focuses some attention on Dustin, sitting in despair.
After a few brushes, she then breaks the silence by saying, "You know, if you truly do that, I find that experience rather nice at the same time." Dustin looks up in confusion, as she continues, "Imagine going through many generations, seeing the world change in its every aspect. Seeing medicines for incurable diseases get invented, as well as maybe some harmony with the world and seeing everyone united under the same peace. As well as seeing your own descendancy flourish and expand throughout the country, making their ancestors proud….of…..them."
After finishing her sentence, she begins to look rather sad and distracted. Dustin, only looking at her in empathy, tries to get some kind of word, but decides to not meddle with her concentration.
Rosie then breaks out saying, "But anywho, my husband should come out of work soon. He usually finishes at 1 or 2, and gets here at 3, so, just be aware of that."
Dustin nods agreeingly, and Rosie confirms with a smile and joy-filled attitude to go back to work. But yet, Dustin feels worried of what is to happen next and is prepared at any moment for what is going to happen.
Nothing is going to hurt them….
6:47 At Night…….It has Begun
As everyone left to go to sleep early, Dustin still couldn't get the thoughts of his infernal loop of hell and the situation that could happen soon. As Rosie stumbles upon Dustin on the couch, she bids Dustin goodnight and tells him, "I'm sure He will give you a second chance, in some way." She then goes back to walking to her room, turning the candle she handled. As Dustin lies down and meditates on the saying, he can hear some talking between Rosie and David, her husband, most likely chatting about him specifically. Dustin after hearing them for 2 minutes, goes to lie down and tries to clear his mind from the many thoughts cycling at him. But as he closes his eyes, he feels a certain emotion of…..fear.
"It's happening," Dustin whispers out, then….*Gunshots*.
As he says this, Dustin and the others start hearing Native Americans outside chanting and calling out the family in their language. They continuously take fire and throw rocks at the window, causing much furniture to get broken. With all the commotion, Dustin yells out to the shouting family, "KEEP QUIET! DON'T MAKE SOUND!" As ordered, the Spatz stopped crying out and quietly went downstairs to join up with Dustin. Dustin orders the father to get him some kind of firearm and Rosie to kill the nightlight. As done so, the house went dark and has turned the Indians confused. Wondering if they're still alive, the Natives send out three men to scout the area and search the house; to find some sort of valuable hidden in the house or some kind of supplies. As the three Indians cautiously open the door, ready their hatchets and enter the house with chary. As all three get in, Dustin's hand comes out of the shadow and fires a flintlock pistol through the head of the left-side Indian, causing the other two startle up and try fighting back, swinging their hatchet at the darkness. With a swift movement, Dustin goes behind the second one and, with a scalping-knife, stabs his chest, then throws him to the ground. Aware of the third, he dodges his left swing of the hatchet and grabs him by the shirt and pushes him, dropping the Indian to the floor. The two then start having a brawl, receiving each other with punches and kicks, as well as rolling all over the floor. Seeing this, the Natives outside start firing shots and arrows through the windows, aiming at anything that possibly moves. Then, one of the Natives shooting lights up an arrow on fire and fires it through a window, hitting a curtain and setting it on fire. As Dustin fights on with the Indian, he notices the fire spreading and quickly makes a hefty move on the Native by piercing his heart with a broken leg from a wooden chair, ending with screams from the Indian. Dustin then gets up rapidly and runs towards the bathroom, where the family has been hiding the whole attack.
Dustin fiercely slams on the door, yelling, "Get out! There's a fire! Come on, open up." As Dustin tries knocking down the door, he hears Rosie respond along with coughing, "Go…..save yourself…there's no hope…..please….just go."
"NO! I am not leaving any of you here!", Dustin shouts, accompanied then with shots going through the door.
"Please….we'll find a way…..and besides….there's more of my family anyway….so go now….and let The Spirit forgive your sins," Rosie says, yet more quieter this time.
As Dustin notices the fire spreading towards, the emotion of fear fills his interior and calls out, "I'm sorry, Rosie, I will find you. I promise," and leaves through the backdoor. As Rosie hears this, she responds to herself, "Me too, along with my family," and looks down at her dead husband and daughter.
At the same time, Dustin manages to escape, unfortunately carrying with him bullet wounds and an arrow to the kidneys. Dustin runs as fast as he can, until he starts losing balance on walking and falls behind a tree. He then starts revising for the damage done to him, and sees dark blood coming out of his kidney area, showing that he doesn't have much time left. He then sits there, slowly pulling out a necklace with a pure gold heart in the middle of it. He then remembers the promise she proposed earlier before ending the conversation at noon.
"If you truly are what you say, then take this necklace, and give it to one of my own. I want to have this forever in my family, so take it, and let them remember it for generations."
"I will Rosie," he pauses to cough, "I….will."
And then I fell dead, slowly bleeding out my third life in this world. And when I woke up, I still had the gold necklace given by Rosie, smiling every time I see it. Just now, people spoke differently, which was a bad sign, since the only languages I've mastered are English, French, and Deutsch. And luckily, I landed in time for The Great French Revolution.
So stay tuned….
P.S. - This one took me a while, but I finally finished it. Also, big plans for Chapter 4!
Sneak Peak, too:
Title - "Reign of Terror: Part 1 - Viva La Resistance!"
Could be more than 2,000 words this time, who knows….
Had difficulty with this topic, but decided to keep the people speaking French and provide the best descriptions that I can, just let me know if this is a good idea.
Might as well give chapter 5 title, which is "Part 2 - Snake Eyes". Same amount of words, too.
