"Ugh..."

The tamer awoke, sprawled haphazardly across the couch. His body clearly missed the support of a proper bed, feeling stiff all over.

"Which idiot thought sleeping on the couch was a good idea? Oh… that's right."

He slowly sat up, feeling various joints protest after the uncomfortable sleep.

"Can't let Ren know how uncomfortable it was. Don't know if I could stand the fussing."

He realised he felt a bit cold. The blanket he had grabbed for the night wasn't quite as warm as the doona on the bed. He decided he needed a jumper.

However, that involved going into his room, which was currently occupied.

He shuffled his way down the hall to his room, still working out the soreness from sleeping awkwardly.

He gave a gentle knock on the door, but got no response.

Slowly he opened the bedroom door and peaked in. The bed was perfectly made aside from one missing pillow and Ren was nowhere to be seen.

He called out softly.

"Ren?"

Again, no response.

He stepped up to the bed, wondering where the digimon had gone. As he did, he caught a glimpse of gold fur on the other side. He stepped around to take a closer look.

Tucked into the corner behind the bed, a ball of gold fur had wrapped itself around the missing pillow.

"Did he sleep on the floor all night? I know a bed would be a bit unusual if he's been sleeping in trees the whole time, but still..."

He went to the wardrobe to grab a jumper, but as he slid the door open, one of the roller wheels let out a loud squeak.

He cringed at the noise, hoping he hadn't woken Ren.

No such luck. He turned to see the digimon's eyes wide open and staring at him.

"Tamer?"

"Uh...sorry Ren. I didn't mean to wake you. Was just getting a jumper."

The digimon uncurled himself from the pillow and sat up.

"That is quite alright. I apologise for not waking earlier in case you needed me."

"What? Don't be stupid Ren..."

The digimon's ears flattened at the tamer's chiding.

"... you can't know when I'm going to wake up. I mean, would you normally wake up earlier?"

"I find I am still adjusting to the difference in time in this world, so I have not been sleeping regularly. However, I slept much longer than I normally would last night."

"Interesting… maybe you were having a bit of a food coma. That pizza… that was the first food you've had from this world, right?"

"Correct."

"So, maybe you're not used to it yet. I find eating a lot can make me a bit sleepy. Your body might need to get used to it."

"How long might that take?"

"I have no idea Ren. Your body could be completely different to mine."

He noticed the overly-concerned look on Ren's face. It took him a minute to guess what could be troubling the digimon given the circumstances.

"...you're worried you won't be able to stuff your face with pizza for a while, aren't you?"

"No?"

The digimon's answer was not convincing.

"Right… you know there's gonna be plenty more food to try?"

Ren's whole demeanour perked at the possibility of new foods.
