Amy Rose, a noble's daughter turned adventurer, is among one of Sonic's oldest friends. A girl with a gentle soul and warrior's spirit, she carries a mighty will to protect those she loves, even if it costs her own life. But there are some unspoken secrets to her… Some that have reopened as she reunited with Sonic…

It was early in the morning the same day. Amy wakes up in her room, given to her by Jenni, giving a big yawn and a few stretches before dressing herself in her dress. With a twirl and wink, she leaves her room just in time to see Sonic walk out.

Amy: "Oh! Hey, Sonic!"

Sonic: "Yo, Amy! New outfit?"

Amy: "Nah, just cleaner. What's up?"

Sonic: "Heading out for a run. Wanna come?"

Amy had star eyes as she immediately said yes… in her mind. As she was about to answer, Sally limps out of her room with her walker.

Sally: "Morning. …Am I interrupting something?"

Amy's chipper demeanor quietly shifts to awkward silence as she looks away from Sonic. Sonic did notices the shift in tone, but wasn't sure how to react.

Amy: "I'll… pass, Sonic… You go ahead…"

Sonic looked at Amy, a bit concerned. But he walks off before going into a full dash. Sally looks at Amy after he leaves, equally concerned.

Sally: "...Amy… You okay?"

Amy: "...I'm fine. I just… need some fresh air…"

Amy leaves Sally with her thoughts, Sally leaning against her doorway with a frown.

Sally: "I'm no therapist… But even I can see Amy has something on her mind… And it has something to do with me…"

In the wooded area of Hill Top, a few miles from the mansion, the late afternoon had come. Amy was swinging her hammer at targets, an angered expression on her face as she breaks target after target. As the dust settles, she takes a deep breath as she sits down on a nearby log. Sitting there, leaning on the stick of her hammer, her mind wanders. Her thoughts of her, Sonic, and Sally. To what could have been, and what it actually became. Her conflicting feelings regarding the ones she calls friends.

Voice: "Hey."

A voice calls out, causing Amy to turn in the direction of the voice. There stood Sally, smiling as she waved. Amy gave a… half-hearted wave as she continues to sulk.

Sally: "I figured I'd find you here. Your hammer packs so much force that it could wake the dead."

Amy: "...Am I disturbing any big dates between you and Sonic?"

Sally limps over to the log and sits down, sighing after.

Sally: "Guess you haven't quite given up on that, huh? And it's eating up at you, hasn't it?"

Amy: "...You know I still love him… So… how did he choose you over me? Why…? What do you have that I don't…?"

Sally: "...To be frank… Not a lot."

Sally leans back, looking at the orange sky above.

Sally: "Sonic's always been a bit of an oddity, going wherever his feet can carry him. He's charming, charismatic, and willing to do good… But he's a brash, a bonehead, and really loves to run his mouth. Like… for once, shut up and take things seriously…"

Amy looks at her conversation partner before starting to smirk, then giggles at the jabs at Sonic.

Amy: "He's not just a bonehead. He literally rushes headlong into anything without a plan. Brute strength can only get you so far; and it's me saying that!"

Sally: "Right!?"

The two share a laugh before eventually calming down.

Sally: "...But… really… Sonic's not all he's cracked up to be. He's just… cool, while being such a dork."

Amy: "He is pretty cool… I'll give you that much… He… inspires people. Me… Tails… And I believe even you…"

Sally smiles as she remembers her and Sonic meeting for the first time. The two hit off really well… by Sally knocking Sonic to the ground, resulting in a wrestling where neither of them won. A budding relationship…

Sally: "But… now that I've effectively broken the ice… Let's talk about you… Why do you hate me so much?"

Amy: "I-I don't! …Or at least I try not to… I just… would rather see you and Sonic happy… And live whatever life you choose together…"

Sally: "And what would that accomplish? If you're not happy too?"

Amy tilts her head, in genuine shock by that sentiment.

Sally: "Amy. I'm a princess first and foremost. To me, everyone's happiness is important to me… Your's included… And don't tell me that 'your and Sonic's happiness makes me happy too' because we both know that's a load of bogus."

Sally places a hand on Amy's shoulder, smiling at her.

Sally: "We've let this silly rivalry over one hedgehog come between us for way too long. I think it's better we settle the matter… Sonic may choose you over me in the end and… While I'll be upset over a break up, I'll never stop being your friend. And support you however I can, no matter what. Because that's what friends are for."

Amy: "S-Sally…"

The princess pulls Amy into a hug, letting the pink hedgehog bawl her eyes out over this intense emotion.

Sally: "Shh… It's okay. No matter what… Nothing comes between us… Come heaven, hell, or even Gaia herself."

Amy: "Friends forever…"

Sally: "Best friends forever."

The two continued to hug it out, the stars looking down upon them as they embraced.

The next morning, Sally, now with her leg mostly recovered enough to limp without a walker, calls for a meeting in the quarters reserved for this occasion.

Sally: "Everyone here?"

She looks at the table to see Sonic, Amy, Tekno, Tails, Rosie, Julie, Jenni, Nicole, and even Agatha - joined and likely convinced to come by her two kids - gathered at the table.

Sonic: "Rounded them up as quick as I could, with Nicole's help."

Nicole: "I did nothing but just send some invites…"

Nicole smiled, blushing a bit.

Sally: "Good. Then I've called this meeting to announce something… Something I've been cooking up in the background, ever since my kingdom had been invaded… Our world is changing… For better or for worse, we're seeing our world of Mobius change. And in Ivo Robotnik's mind, that world must be nothing but machines for him to control. His warped perception of reality has led to the fall of one kingdom and the attack on this very island… His reign will not stop there and so… It will be up to us to stop him. And so I hereby announce… The formation of the Freedom Fighters. Under this banner, we are sworn under oath to protect the lives of those who suffer under Robotnik's reign."

Sally then shows her banner - an acorn on top of a snowflake stylized like to resemble Sonic's buzzsaw curled up form, a hammer and a wrench in a cross formation behind that snowflake, and two tails acting in place of ribbons at the bottom with 'Freedom' on the left tail, and 'Fighters' on the right. Each piece of this banner is made to represent the parts that represent those apart of the Freedom Fighters.

Amy: "Wow! Awesome!"

Tekno: "Understatement of the century! That's…"

Sonic: "Way past cool!"

Sally: "As of today, we are a team. And we'll all work hard to see to Eggman being stopped and bring his empire down. Who's with me!?"

Everyone: "YEAH!"

As everyone cheered for Sally's rousing speech, someone didn't share in the cheers, but the motion. Merely keeping their charade going in order to avoid drawing suspicion. As the group cheers, the Tails that was sitting among them had broadcasted the entire speech… to his master…

At Mt. Robotnik, the sinister doctor himself was watching the entire scene with a devilish grin on his face.

Eggman: "Oh? So a foolish group of kids wish to try and stop me? I'd find that adorable… if it wasn't so sickening."

He then stands from his monitor as he walks to some railing as he overlooks something below, the glares on his glasses on giving him a more menacing presence.

Eggman: "Very well… If they wish to dance with the big boys… Then they'll soon realize the true fierce power of a genius."

Eggman chuckles before bursting into laughter, as down below… a large ship was being built, his brand on the side. A ship that would soon cause terror in the skies over Mobius… The Egg Carrier.

To be continued…
